Hey so how does it feel to be reminded that Wangxian being Lan Sizhui's fathers and doting on him is purely fandom's wishful thinking ?
That by the end of the novel and in the extras Sizhui would only call Wei Wuxian 'Senior Wei' and Lan Wangji 'Hanguang-Jun' ?
That Sizhui wouldn't dare to act improperly in front of Lan Wangji, much less familiarly ?
That Lan Wangji would only be affectionate to Wei Wuxian, not Sizhui ?
That Sizhui using Yunmeng Jiang sect's moves is, in Lan Wangji's opinion, inappropriate and deserving of punishment ?
Because I need comfort and lots of fanfics to forget what I just read in the extra : Intrusion (Part 3).
#i'm in denial#it was more wholesome in my memory ??#lsz felt more like a fav disciple / nanny than their son#which was to be expected but man what a shame#wwx's role in the novel being given feminine connotations saying he birthed a-yuan#only for a-yuan to not be called a son#not that i particularly like comparing wwx to a woman / mother#and what's this thing about punishing sizhui-#am i still asleep ?#lan sizhui#lan wangji#wei wuxian#lan yuan#mdzs#mo dao zu shi

JiuYuan plot bunny
Shen Yuan transmigrates/reincarnates waay before the plot even begins, as a somewhat rich second or third son of a merchant family (cliché or clasic background? You decide) not specially sick nor a priority for his family as he's not likely to inherit almost anything he is send to cultivate to a small sect. Because who else will want their unremarkable son?
Turns out ranting about poetry in the street with a vendor is a sure way to make someone important want their unremarkable son.
Enter the current Lord of Qing Jing who saw a gremlin with taste and opinions and immediately wanted him. Also the immediate moment when Shen Yuan finds out where exactly he was reborn in (pray for him). So Shen Yuan gets to join directly into QJP if he passes the other test and well, the story wont go on if he doesn't so let's say he does.
His dumbass tries to make everyone believe he's lazy to avoid work like he did back home but Aha! Shizun is on his bs so in no time he's made head disciple. Natural teacher, excellent memory and talented swordsman (This nerd got too excited by swords and practiced so much he now is the best of his generation and he desperately wants you to know he didn't want for this to happen) it's like he was made to lead QJP!
Side note: LQG will be made head disciple of BZP in a year or so, that's why SY is the generation's best, currently.
Here comes the boy! Absolutely traumatized feral kitten Shen Jiu gets into CQM and QJP out of season and with his general attitude immediately gets enemies everywhere. Not problem! Da-Shixiong will show you around and- Oh? You don't want Da-Shixiong to speak with you? Alright. Just remember to get to dinner and sleep well, goodnight!
And just like that you get an oblivious Shen Yuan respecting a hesitantly curious Shen Jiu who, in turn, decides that the best thing to do with this interest is to find blackmail on SY and take his place as head disciple.
Cue shenanigans and hijinks with stalker SJ and unsuspecting SY. And them getting closer by basically respecting SJ's space and time and being a decent human?! What?!
So like bonding with a cat. Slow, respectfully and with lots and lots of treats. Once Shen Yuan figured out Shen Jiu's weakness is just sweets it's all over. Now hes SJ's shixiong and no one else's. No, shut up A-Yuan, they are not worth our time.
Does he trust SY unconditionally? He's getting there. Nighthunts and being saved like a damsel in distress once in a while helps, even if he gets hissy and pretends to not like it. More so when SY immediately turns to him for both counsel on investigations and to make sure he's safe while in the hunts. Also Shixiong spends almost all his time helping him in fixing his cultivation and teaching him the arts, even when no one else would give a shit, so he gets extra points by being a good boy to his A-Jiu.
Shen Yuan? He thinks he's being a good bro and helping SJ fix whatever made him such an ass in PIDW. He doesn't know what happened before SJ went to CQM nor his past as a slave, only thought he looked like a feral cat and acted accordingly. And yes, calling him A-Jiu is absolutely necessary to that recovery.
In the middle of this SY tries to make contact with TLJ to help him either run away with SXY or take out the OPM so the tragedy doesn't happend. But shit hits the fan and SY gets outed as a demon sympathizer when the sealing under a mountain still happens but he tries to reason with the CQM's sect leader that the demon was innocent.
No one can prove that he was a traitor but under the added presure of public sentiment he's punished severely. Sect leader gives him two choices; He either leaves and retrieves a mega ultra rare mcguffin that'll take him 20 years to get or gets banished immediately and losses any standing he has with the sect.
In simple terms: Prove your loyalty with this very difficult quest or leave.
As a pseudo-compromise sect leader promised no one will take his place if he leaves for the quest nor will they banish SJ for being so close to a posible traitor. SY, naturally, accepts the quest with all the spite and grief of someone who failed his true quest of saving his best friend and the world too he supposes.
But QJP cannot be without a Head disciple nor a Peak Lord! Because plot twist, the lords are preparing to ascend in the next like 5 years. Sect leader knew this, and this is his way to force QJ's peak lord to appoint a different head disciple when SY is away anyways. If that happens SY will lose everything anyways, even if he comes back.
So the strategists get together and make a plan.
Shen Yuan will leave in his quest but before that he'll marry someone trusted that can be acting peak lord in his absence but will not usurp his place. Doble plot twist! That person is Shen Jiu because just as SJ got mellower with SY's influence so did SY get more paranoid. He only trust his dear shidi and no one else but oh how could he force his shidi into- Oh? You'll do it? Why do i have to be the wif-
And they marry in semi secret, taking a small moment for SJ to make him doble promise to come back for him and to give his own doble promise to wait for his return. SJ doesn't like this, not one bit. But this time he's safe, in a position of power and tentatively ready to trust again. He'd rather have his husband with him at least for their wedding night but oh well, they don't get that. They make arrangements for SY to send letters to the WRP so SJ can know how he's doing even if he can't receive any in exchange. It'll be a lonely 20 years.
Shen Yuan leaves and Shen Jiu gets appointed acting head disciple and then acting peak lord. With his silks and his husband's name as a shield (Qingqiu is SY's, but he can use it because they married) he rules QJP much more detached than in PIDW, almost completely ignoring the disciples. This is his A-Yuan's work after all and if he wants it done he better hurry and come do it himself. They've always joked that SY would teach while SJ would govern the peak, even before ever discussing marriage (It didn't matter that A-Yuan didn't know they would eventually get married. They would have regardless)
And Yue Qingyuan you didn't ask? He's in the background wanting to talk to Xiao-Jiu constantly but SJ doesn't need him nor want him. SY's therapy helped him let go if not forgive YQY, he's at the point where he can just ignore him. YQY on the other hand is guiltily ecstatic SY is out of the picture and Xiao-Jiu can be peak lord and rule at his side. Just like he wanted!
Like that 15 years pass. SJ still gets a reputation of going to brothels even if its to read his hubby's letters and sleep. And at this point all other peak lords either forgot he's technically just acting peak lord or never knew there was another Shen-Shixiong who should be peak lord instead.
At this point I'm not sure how to proceed. It'll have to be either:
a) Shen Yuan comes back during the demon invasion or
b) He comes when they are having a peak lord meeting for conveniences sake
Let's do invasion for dramatic purposes.
So you have a supremely pissed off SJ dealing with the demons and watching as the runt of his peak desperately tries to beat his opponent while making a mockery out of their QJP fighting style (LBH is actually doing pretty good, SJ is just Like That™) when suddenly a sword only he recognizes flies faster than a bullet to stop the defeated demon from attacking the little beast and the whole place falls into silence. SJ can hear his pulse in his ears, he almost can't breathe.
The disciples are looking at him for instructions but he can't think of anything as the most beautiful face he has ever seen slowly walks out of the trees into the improvised arena. His hair is finally long now, but not even close to well cared for. His clothes dusty and well worn but not threadbare nor stained with ink like it usually was in their disciple days. His A-Yuan is glorious as he makes the demons run like the pathetic bugs they are.
LQG has come too but there's not more fighting to be had, only a couple reunited at last. SJ sends decorum through the window and yanks his A-Yuan into a long awaited kiss in front of basically every disciple and an enraged and flustered LQG (Man is having the weirdest awakening)
SY is surprised at first but quickly reciprocates, finally at peace with his feelings. Because guess what, 15 years of pinning + letters that slowly become romantic without the fear of retribution will do just fine for him to admit he fell in love with his husband at some point. He was scared shitless of SJ reaction to him coming back and it was only that promise what made him go home regardless. A-Jiu can hate him, but he is NOT breaking that promise. He even made it 5 years earlier, isn't he such a good husband?
Later in the emergency meating LQG is still screaming at them for shameless and inmoral and how could this be the first thing Shen Yuan does when he comes back when they could've just spared
And everyone else (minus YQY, SQH and the beast peak lord) are just like What? Who's this? And SY looks at YQY disapprovingly (He knows YQY covets his wife and purposely didn't tell them) and explains he's the QJ peak lord and SJ as his husband has been ruling QJ in his stead for the past 15 years. And yes, that's why SJ is sitting in his lap.
When the whole story comes out everyone is more surprised to know they are married than the fact SY made the last sect leader so angry he was basically given a suicide mission (Not even YQY knew that) but don't worry! He has absolutely no inclination of taking his A-Jiu's position away. He'd rather teach his little disciples and let his wife to berate their martial siblings as is his right (Someone said they'll be happy having SY instead of SJ in meetings from now on and He Did Not Like That) So they'll share the name Qingqiu as QJ has two peak lords from now on.
Now if they'll excuse them they have a wedding night to finally enjoy.

sunday mornings — jing yuan x reader
"Come and rest your bones with me, driving slow on Sunday morning and I never want to leave."
sypnosis. [ 0.5k words. fluff. domestic + married life. ] — weekend bliss with your husband and son.
“Yuan?”
“In the garden!” you hear Yanqing’s voice call out, echoing through the door from the kitchen.
You pad barefoot through the house, sleepily rubbing your eyes. It was a Saturday, meaning he would be over to spend time with his father to either play starchess or spar.
The moment you slide the glass door and curtains away, you see the both of them on the wooden floors of the patio playing the beloved game.
Yanqing goes to greet you with a smile and tells you they still have tea and you ruffle his hair affectionately, “Careful, baobei, he might steal your pieces again,” you tell him as you pass the two by to pour a cup of tea, drinking from your lover's teacup.
The boy reacts immediately and lunges for the man in front of him, “Dad, open your mouth, you better have not eaten the pieces again!”
“I have not eaten the pieces,” he whines as he opens his mouth for the boy to inspect, “It was one time…” he sulks as Yanqing returns to his seat, eyes narrowed as he makes an ‘i’m watching you’ gesture.
You chuckle at their shenanigans as you slink beside your husband, his hand naturally falling against the curve of your waist as you lean into his chest.
“How was your rest?” he asks and you feel the vibrations of his voice through the shirt he wears.
“It was well, could've been better,”
Yanqing makes a move and you feel him tilt his head then make his move as well.
“How so?”
“I could've woken up beside you,” you take a sip of your tea.
“Oh?”
You giggle from behind the teacup and glance towards Yanqing, he's unaffected by all of these by now.
Ah, you miss when he was a disgusted child telling you both to go get a room.
Nowadays, you only see him a few times a week, his position in the Cloud Knights and your schedule at the Alchemy Commission keeping you from your son.
You relish the moments on the weekends where you get to spend time with him. With both of them.
“Checkmate Xiao ‘Qing,” the general tells him and you see your son narrow his eyes before sighing.
He takes a sip of his own tea, “Nineteen years and you'd think he would let me win…”
You and Yuan share a laugh.
Yanqing never was good at losing.
“Well, next time, maybe,” your husband teases as he nudges your arm to give him a sip of the tea.
You raise your arm, no adjustments needed, just as you've always done in the past, he always did like it when you let him drink from the same cup.
Something about the intimacy of it, he says.
Yanqing smiles at your display.
Jing Yuan snuggles into the side of your face.
“How about a nap, Àirén? To make up for me not waking up next to you today?”
You placed the cup on the table and hugged his side.
“That would be a fitting solution, yes,”
It is hours later when you wake up still on the patio. Your head laying on Yuan's chest, his arm around you, sporting a smile on his face as he slept.
The sun has risen high in the sky, yet the clouds remain, providing shade along with the roof of the patio.
You spot Yanqing on the other side, his head laid on his father's arm as he slept peacefully.
Yeah, a few more hours of sleep wouldn't hurt.

Tired, 39 year old Shen Yuan is constantly nagged by his parents about giving them grandchildren. At a certain point, they were done with begging for him to marry a nice lady and just skipped to pleading for grandkids.
While the idea of having a child does make his heart yearn in a way that will definitely be dangerous if thought about for too long, he just doesn't have the time! No way! And what kind of father would he be, secretly reading cheesy, terrible webnovels in his free time? Which, mind you, is rare nowadays. He'd like to spend that valuable time getting rest via napping, thank you very much.
So what if Shen Yuan's heart swells when he sees his students run up to their parents with adorable, toothy grins? So what if he treats his class like they're his own children from time to time, spoiling them silly and proudly wearing the badge of "Best Teacher!" every year? So what if he wants a child to call his own!?
To love and care for a child, Shen Yuan has accepted that it would simply be a privilege he'll never experience.
...Think, think! Don't get so mopey now, Shen Yuan! Try to outweigh the baby fever with the pessimism you (slightly) obtained from your mean older brother!
How about this: There'll be no time for himself, none at all! Just more and more work. Come home from his job, dealing with a bunch of rowdy kids to find your own permanent little monster running around the house! At least he's getting paid for the first one!?
Shen Yuan had seen those videos and posts of kids accidentally exposing their parents embarrassing tendencies. Knowing him, his hypothetical child would have piles upon piles of blackmail on the Shen family's youngest son! Leave this old man alone, alright? Non-existent dumpling, theoretical baobei, please don't be so careless with your father's reputation...
(It would be careless too, to become a gaping hole in the heart of his child. Wouldn't it be selfish to have one, only to die a few years later?)
Over a decade ago, believe it or not, this esteemed Mr. Shen had gone by the shameless persona of "Peerless Cucumber" on the internet. He'd been an infamous anti-fan of the male power fantasy stallion web-novel series, Proud Immortal Demon Way and would leave scalding essay-length comments and posts ranting about its terrible plot point and flaming the author for his awful characterization and overall writing. That era of his life was when he actually had the time to stare into the digital sea of texts and write entire documentaries as replies for twelve hours straight. Fortunately or unfortunately, Shen Yuan doesn't have the same luxury as of now.
Despite the constant hate spewing from his younger self, present-day Shen Yuan is honestly very impressed by the constant thousand word updates every day. Honestly, looking back, how did that man accomplish that? Airplane Shooting Towards The Sky, dear author, are your hands okay? Youthful Shen Yuan's hands cramped all too much from simply typing up angry comments, now imagine PIDW's author??
Aaah, yes, the former hater Peerless Cucumber had long forgotten about PIDW. The author mysteriously disappeared one day, leaving Luo Binghe out on his own for more wives to dual cultivate with as Shen Yuan had realized his passion for literature (and critique!).
With a newfound, realized passion in his heart, Shen Yuan went off to actually pursue the college education his parents had very lovingly saved (and were ecstatic he was actually using) and became a literature teacher! NEET 21 year old Shen Yuan would be quite astonished to see this dignified Mr. Shen now, yes, very much so indeed.
Now, Shen Yuan.. doesn't quite remember PIDW all too well. He begrudgingly admits that it holds a dear and special place in his heart, but in all honesty, Shen Yuan can remember merely a handful of the wives and plot points. Ah, this is what happens when you actually get a life, interesting! Clap it up!
The most Shen Yuan remembers is the stallion novel character, Luo Binghe. His favorite, and - he really can’t stress this enough - an absolutely wasted potential of a character. Shen Yuan may be an older and wiser man who doesn't waste constant time on the internet like before, but that only means he actually has a degree to be critic. Serves all of those self-righteous, questioning commenters right from all those years ago! Look at him now!
Importantly however, Shen Yuan also remembers just how badly he wanted to coddle the protagonist, blackening or not, pre-abyss, post-abyss, even as a demonic tyrannic emperor! Can you believe that none of Luo Binghe's wives wanted to squeeze his cheeks and kiss his forehead!? Master Airplane, throw in some fluff, will you? Spare the poor boy from all of these succubi (metaphorically and literally) and let him take a nap! Ahhh, who really cares if Luo Binghe has a kingdom he needs to take over? Throw a blanket on him! Cranky, old Mr. Shen knows the feeling of being terribly overworked, so imagine how the protagonist feels!? Shen Yuan nods his head approvingly at the thought.
All of those mistresses flocking over to Luo Binghe... If Shen Yuan were his guardian, he would kick them all out without a second thought in place of good family bonding time.
Women, power, sex... really, what's needed is a loving father who'll coddle and take care of Binghe when no one else can!
So, Shen Yuan guesses he shouldn't be surprised when he wakes up in the body of Tianlang-jun.
#do y'all fw this or#i dont usually strive towards chronically ill sy but i thought itd be a good touch lol#also it works well with tianlang's rotting body. parallels go crazy amiright ahahah#will this be dadson action... who knows.....#(it will be sorry)#i cant believe this will pretty much be my first fic#im amping up the daddy thing sorry guys#b-blackened or crispy bingge... finding his loving dad and going from skeptical and outright bitter to a good boy!!#currently deciding how theyll actually meet and stay together though...#sqh is deathly terrified btw but he should be more scared of binghe#dont touch his silly goofy hot himbo diedie!!#sy!tlj au#svsss#mxtx svsss#luo binghe#shen qingqiu#tianlang jun#shen yuan#luo bingge#bingqiu

'Mom' to his 'Dad'
synopsis: just a collective bulleted drabble of all the thoughts I had about raising Yanqing together with Jing Yuan (yet somehow not being married (yet))
pairing: Jing Yuan x fem!reader
tw: fluff, domestic fluff, modern AU, CEO!Jing Yuan (because why not), dad!Jing Yuan, adopted son!Yanqing, from co-parenting to dating, from friends to lovers
word count: 1.8k+ words
CEO!Jing Yuan who looks hella fine in any clothes, but especially good in gray and carmine red suits. Who absolutely hates wearing ties, but has zero complaint when you, after staying the night before, wrap one around his neck. He feels soft when you lecture him, but in the end say he looks good, smoothing the lapels of his jacket, making sure his appearance is intact before turning around and hurrying to check on Yanqing’s preparations for school.
CEO!Jing Yuan who is a great leader, a nice boss and obviously a great catch, but who also hasn’t shown any interest in any suitor who’s attempted to woo him in the last decade. And he is 33 already. There have been many gossips swirling in the company, most potent about you and him, rumored to be in a secret relationship and raising a kid together. Well… they are not wrong on the second part.
CEO!Jing Yuan who after the passing of his two friends took their eight-year old son under his wing. Who had never dealt with children, especially this young, but who was lucky enough to have you - a dear friend since university, now a coworker, understanding and compassionate enough to leave your house at 3am to drive all the way to his residence after just one frantic call.
CEO!Jing Yuan who will never forget that night - you, running into the house after he let you in, with hair still messy and clearly first clothes you dug from the closet thrown on you. You looked like a cute ruffled sparrow, which quickly transformed into a mother hen when he better explained his troubles about a little kid - now his adopted son - and how he couldn’t get him to fall asleep at the new place. You too didn’t know much about handling children, but you were willing to try and the white-haired man couldn’t ask for more. Both called off work the next day.
CEO!Jing Yuan who since then has a room in his house that belongs to you - over the years it got filled with your personal things, redesigned (twice!) to your tastes, and has been occupied over the years for almost half of each passing week.
CEO!Jing Yuan who adores Yanqing - the boy proved to be feisty, but at the same time he was very sweet and nice to have around. Jing Yuan didn’t think twice about adopting the little guy the moment he learnt of his friends’ passing, turning from a godfather to just a father. He, obviously, didn’t force Yanqing to call him dad, making up his mind that even if it never happens - it’s totally fine. Due to the age the boy could understand why his parents weren’t there and Jing Yuan was making all he could to give him a good life, a normal life. He was so lucky that you tugged along.
CEO!Jing Yuan who almost cried when Yanqing absentmindedly called him ‘dad’. The ten-year old didn’t even notice it, but to the man it meant the world. He spammed you with messages, all in caps and with weeping emojis, and felt his heart about to combust when you sent him a response full of excitement, congratulating him. And then messaged about how you wished to hear the boy call him dad the next time you were around. Damn, he wished so too.
CEO!Jing Yuan, who loves having you around. He melts when he returns to the living room after going to refill the snack bowl only to see Yanqing cuddled closely to you, staring at the screen with his head tucked under your chin. His lips tug into a wide smile when the boy asks you if you can be the one to get him from school tomorrow instead of Jing Yuan’s personal driver (and you always say ‘yes’, even if it means you’ll sacrifice your lunch break). A pleasant shiver runs down both his and the boy’s backs when you walk into Yanqing’s room to check on the two doing homework and gently scratch their heads. Jing Yuan loves the domestic life the two of you created.
CEO!Jing Yuan, who encouraged his son when a couple of years later he wondered if it’s okay if he started calling you ‘mom’. The man told him to approach you the next time you were staying over and ask your opinion on the matter. Which the boy did, shyly reaching out for your hand and when you gave it to him with a smile, dropped a bomb. Jing Yuan remembers the slight hesitation flashing in your eyes, how you lifted him and got him into your lap to be on the same eye level with him.
“Baby, are you sure?”
“Mhm. You’ve always been there. You raise me. And I really love you and want you to be my mom.”
“Even if I am not your father’s wife?”
“Maybe you should become her? But either way, yes.”
CEO!Jing Yuan who now can’t get the boy’s words out of his head. Yanqing is right - you’ve always been there. For them both. His, no, your son is thirteen now - meaning that for five years you’ve helped your friend raise the boy - you were not obligated to be there for his special events, you weren’t paid to take days off and sit with him when he was sick, no one asked you to kiss his forehead and tuck him into bed, there were no rules that said that you have to share his hobbies… Yet, you did. Always. And the man has always been very aware of that, but only his son’s words seem to open his eyes - both of you are his parents. Maybe it’s a shame you are not spouses.
CEO!Jing Yuan who feels kind of bad - you’ve spent 5 years of your life being a family to Yanqing and, admittedly, the man himself. You’ve given up searching for a partner, starting a family of your own just to make sure that the kid who has no relation to you grows healthy and happy. He can’t help but love and appreciate you.
CEO!Jing Yuan who finds out that you’ve been having similar thoughts about him after that conversation with your son. He really didn’t mean to overhear, he just wanted to drop by your office at the beginning of the break and offer to go get lunch together, only to stop at the mention of his name that passed through the door. Apparently, you sought advice from Yukong - the head of the logistics department, a fellow mother and one of the few who knew what your family dynamic was really like. You are concerned that you took the place that wasn’t meant to you - you worry that Yanqing got attached to you so strongly that should Jing Yuan start seeing someone, the boy would be too stubborn to accept.
CEO!Jing Yuan, whose heart skips a beat, when the teal-haired woman asks you, why you are not entertaining the possibility that you can be the one the man seeks a relationship with. The same heart drops into his stomach when you sigh and tell her of him never showing interest. Things seem platonic to you. Well, not to your coworkers, it appears.
CEO!Jing Yuan and you, who freeze in your seats, when at the end of the meeting a new secretary of the man asks if ‘Mrs Jing will also attend the event’ hosted by one of the company’s biggest clients. Confused, you look at your friend, who's equally stunned (but secretly, realizing what kind of mistake it is, fights back a tiny spark of delight). It turns out that the secretary thought the two of you were husband and wife and for that reason gave you the man’s last name. If it’s not the sign, then what is?
CEO!Jing Yuan who goes clothes shopping with you - because you both indeed are going to be at the event and the man insists the two of you buy something matching. When you ask why, he slyly smiles and promises that it’s his way of ‘showing interest’. At first you don’t get it. But when your cheeks heat up he knows the message is clear to you. You do call him a scoundrel and he heartily laughs at that, but you still reach out to his hand and he readily interlocks your fingers.
CEO!Jing Yuan who notices you getting flirtier, one time in particular not leaving his mind. He was comfortably sitting on the sofa, having everything he needed to push through the last bits of work he had decided to take home (‘everything’ being just his laptop and a mug of steaming tea). That’s when you approached him from the back, laying your palms on top of his shoulders, gently kneading the tense muscles, working a low appreciative grunt out of his throat.
“Yuan?”
“Mmm?”
“You look stressed,” fingers dug a little rougher into his flesh and the man groaned, shoulder flinching. Only for his whole body to go rigid when your voice fanned right against his ear, ”I know how to fix it.”
And then you innocently proposed to go to the gym together once he’d be done. Honestly? For a stunt like that Jing Yuan wanted to bite you.
CEO!Jing Yuan who does get his teeth onto you as you are trying to escape the trap of his arms after waking up from the cute cuddling session with Yanqing. Only for the boy to be gone upon your awakening (and you hear some shuffling in the kitchen) and a very hot man - your friend? boss?? unofficial-but-everyone-thinks-you-are-together lover??? - pressing your back into his chest with arms firmly circling your waist. When you attempt to move away, he suddenly surges forward and clamps his mouth onto the exposed juncture between your neck and shoulder. And nibbles.
“Jing Yuan!”
“Hufshf,” he mumbles into your skin, before releasing it and burying his face into your neck. “Don’t shout, you’ll alert Yanqing, and I want some more time with you.”
“...why?”
“Why?” He muses, and you feel a smile pressed to the back of your neck. “Because I think we’d make great as a couple.”
CEO!Jing Yuan who comes to an agreement with you that for the longest time it felt like the two of you were indeed a married couple. You share a place, you do most domestic things together, you go to places together, you raise a son together. And together you come to a conclusion that courting is due.
CEO!Jing Yuan who absolutely shares Yanqing’s sweet anticipation for when you will be able to legally adopt him. Which means - marrying his father (just let this man put a ring on your finger already).

AU where Shen Yuan transmigrated into emperor Shen Qingqiu/SJ and has to take over his male harem.
In the original story: Binghe's adopted mother and him were just servants of the palace and he was set to marry Shen Qingqiu so that his mother would be able to live in the palace and receive care for her illness, although Shen Qingqiu was a cruel emperor who seemed to punish Binghe for no good reason. Unfortunately after their marriage, Luo Binghe's mother passed away and Binghe had harbored a hatred towards Shen Jiu ever since.
It turns out Tianlang Jun was his father so technically Luo Binghe is the rightful heir to the throne, but Shen Jiu wanted to hide this fact. He suspected that Luo Binghe was Tianlang Jun's son because of his striking resemblance to Su Xiyan who died after giving birth.
Luo Binghe is able to kill Shen Jiu and inherit the throne, killing Shen Jiu's harem and his subordinates as well as creating new alliances and starting his own harem of comphet.
Anyway Shen Yuan figures that he's BIG FUCKED, so he plans to escape but the system gets to him first. Shen Jiu was really picky about his harem members at first only having Yue Qingyuan as a concubine and Binghe after the said arranged marriage, only acquiring more later on. So Shen Yuan transmigrated at that point in time and awakes to Yue Qingyuan by his bedside.
He thinks "there's no way I'm going to get a harem!!". And then the system tells him that user 002 MUST acquire a harem otherwise his account will get terminated. So Shen Yuan is like, okay!! So he won't marry Binghe, hug the protagonist's thighs, and he'll only STRICTLY have a male harem so the protagonist doesn't castrate him for getting with his future brides.
So Shen Qingqiu transmigrated after the death of Luo Binghe's mother and he immediately called off the marriage, unlike the original goods who only seemed to marry Binghe for sadistic reasons (seeing LBH suffer).
Shen Qingqiu makes sure that he instead makes Luo Binghe his personal servant and helps him work his way up to advisor, because Shen Qingqiu is not allowed to reveal Luo Binghe's true heritage he'll just help Binghe climb the ranks instead!
(Of course, Luo Binghe ends up falling for Shen Yuan anyway.)
One by one Shen Qingqiu starts acquiring a male harem, being choosey about his picks and making sure he has useful subordinates for the future. The only reason he's able to have a male-only harem is because he finds a magic plant that helps him conceive (not like it'd be of use though!)
He is able to arrange a marriage with Liu Qingge, because he is the brother of Luo Binghe's future wife Liu Mingyan! At first Liu Qingge was extremely reluctant because him and the original goods hated each other's guts.
Shen Yuan tries to, ahem, court him... but he's only doing it to get on good terms with Liu Qingge! He comes by Liu Manor every week to have tea with Liu Qingge, and is able to nurse him back to health after finding him marred by a beast. He tells Liu Qingge about his ideas of alliance and proposes a marriage they should marry for convenience. (Unbeknownst to him is that Liu Qingge's got it down bad for SY.)
He then tries to court Gongyi Xiao for an alliance with Huan Hua Palace, and their marriage takes place in the fall. He also marries Mu Qingfan to strengthen his political allies.
At some point he finds a beaten up poor man in the streets, he helps him to his palace and offers him a place to stay. This man says he has amnesia but he remembers being called Zhushi-lang, Shen Qingqiu realizes this is the nephew of the deceased Tianlang-Jun, and offers Zhushi-lang to marry him so that he could be on better terms with the family, and so that he doesn't get castrated later on!
Of course with every new husband Shen Qingqiu acquires, Luo Binghe is filled with burning jealousy. After Shen Qingqiu married Zhushi-lang (a nobody!) Luo Binghe cracks.
Binghe finds out that he's the biological child of Su Xiyan, and tries to enter into Huan Hua to gain a better reputation and better social standing so he can marry Shen Qingqiu.
Shen Qingqiu realizes this is the part where the original goods Binghe found out his true heritage as Tianlang-Jun's son! And that this is when he plans to reveal all of this to Shen Qingqiu, essentially usurping him from the throne and having him castrated!!! Before this could happen though, Shen Qingqiu created an escape plan to fake his death.
Luo Binghe comes back to the "death" of Shen Qingqiu, and realizes that he is the next inheritance of the throne. Luo Binghe is devastated, and does everything in his power to bring Shen Qingqiu back.
That's all I got for now, other things to note:
- SQH is a transmigrator too and is Shen Qingqiu's subordinate
- This is a cultivation AU, but no demons
- I haven't quite figured out what Shen Jiu's relation is to Tianlang-Jun or how he's emperor, I'll think of that laaater

ㅤ WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A GENERAL'S CHILD .ᐟ
pairings; jing yuan x plantonic!child reader.
content warning; mention of depression ✘ child neglect, angst ✘ hurt/comfort ✘ alcohol ✘ gn reader ✘ 2.8k wc. thank you @mikashisus for proofreading!
syn. being the child of an esteemed general was harder than it seemed. especially being one of a general who was heartbroken. will time fix your relationship? you could never say, but a part of you hoped it will.
All on the Luofu know of the general Jing yuan. One of the seven Arbiter-Generals of the Xianzhou Alliance. An esteemed individual who proved time and time again his worth. But none knew of the family he had built behind doors.
Your mother was a straightforward lady. The type to get what she wanted with no efforts needed, so it was no surprise she managed to charm the lazy general after he had caught her eye. Their love story was almost one sided. Jing yuan was enamored with her, finding her intelligence and personality to be beautiful features of hers. Yet, your mother’s feelings weren’t mutual.
She wouldn’t deny he was a wonderful partner and knew he would be an even greater father, but her heart was never with him. Their love story ended the moment it started. She was driven with guilt every day. Reminiscing how she had charmed him and never properly broke ties with him. The guilt that ate her alive worsened when you came into the picture.
Selfish as it was, she was thankful you looked more like her than the general.
But for your sake, she endured. Swallowing her feelings down, feigning ignorance at the lump that choked her each time you would call out to your father.
Finally, one day she could no longer pretend. She fled, leaving behind a three sentence letter for your father to read.
The general was devastated. Yet another one of his beloved left him. He judged every one of his past acts, trying—clawing at his memories to find one moment where he stepped over the line. Yet no matter how far he looked, he could only drown in self loathing.
That was when you came into the room.
The blessing that your mother was grateful for, was a curse to your grieving father.
You looked like her. Down to the shine in your eyes as you called out to him, a plushie resembling Mimi held tight against your chest. You were oblivious to the storm raging inside of the man. He turned his gaze away from yours and in a low voice, asked you to return to bed. He wasn’t ready to confront you.
And it will be his cowardly self that will quake the bond you shared.
He drowned himself in work, a feat that raised suspicion on his well being. Jing yuan was aware you didn’t deserve such treatment, but he couldn’t do anything else but ignore you. whenever you asked about your mother’s whereabouts, he would bite his tongue.
The news of her leaving was given to you by the mouth of another. The comfort you sought was given by the arms of another. The father you begged to return was hidden away by the heartbroken general.
But you grew.
You grew to look more and more like your mother. And the more her features settled in, the further a distance was built between you and Jing yuan.
You commend him for trying to repair what he once broke, but no one could extinguish the fire that burned with hatred. Even more so after Jing yuan picked up the stray Yanqing. Providing him with the fatherly love you were deprived of. Giving him his attention when he never gazed at you.
Seeing him care for him as a son.
When you were his blood.
Unfortunately, you could not bring yourself to hate the young boy. Say what you will, but he wasn’t at fault for an adult’s mistake. The two of you grew close, and he noticed the awkward tension between you and the general.
He tried to bring back what was burned to ashes.
That was when the video diary started.
Yanqing was persistent. Somehow he managed to convince you to empty all your frustration and anger on a video. Ranting and cussing the general out. You were reluctant at first. How can this help?
You doubt talking to a camera lens would do you any good, but you humoured the young boy.
The first entry was awkward. It was obvious you had never done this before. By the third, you became more relaxed. You talked of your day, how horribly awkward a cloud knight gave you a birthday present on behalf of your father.
(You sat at your desk, the camera aimed at you while you went off ;″ scoff, get this. My birthday was today, and I expected it to go well! Go out with friends, eat and celebrate, right?″, you asked the lens, ″ Well the general had other plans, because tell me why a knight came out of nowhere and delivered my supposed gift? At this point I saw him more times than I did with my actual father. He might as well adopt me.″ You crossed your arms, gaze lost somewhere.
You mulled over your thoughts, a familiar lump forming in your throat. ″ What is it that made him so keen on ignoring me? What because my mother left him? I’m still here.″ Your voice cracked. You tried reining your emotions back in. But the stinging in your eyes was hard to ignore. ″ Whatever.″ and the recording ended. )
The method was healing in some way. All the anger that ate at your mind, all the emotions you didn’t know where to put finally had a place.
It was rejuvenating.
Maybe it was the calm of your mind that pushed you to do one last video. One last moment in your room before you went looking for your mother.
And when the scene was cut, you took one last look.
Whether you will miss it or not, that all depends on the future. But for now, you wanted to leave it behind. It was time for you to close this book and start a new one.
Five times.
( That was the number of times someone he held dearly walked out of his life. Five times he was at his lowest but forced himself to act as though all was fine. And as the stillness of his home met him, Jing yuan knew it ringed the sixth.
His steps heavy, his heart beating harshly against his ribcage. Tearing open a new wound, one he swore would push him to become mara struck. With trembling hands, he pushed the door to your room open.
Jing yuan was met with the consequences of his actions. )
You reunited with your mother on Penacony. She was the most radiant woman you saw. Her brightness seemed to have been fueled even more after she left. On her arm was a man, dressed formally with a small child in his arms. You guessed she remade her life after she left.
You didn’t want to interrupt the moment, so you lingered nearby. It would be considered lying if you denied the hurt you felt at the sight of the happy family. But you weren’t here to ask her to form a family again, just fix the link you once shared.
And so you waited. And waited. And before long, it had been three years since you landed in Penacony. Yet, not once have you initiated any contact with your mother. What was it? Fear of rejection? Or was the bittersweet moment between her family a reminder of what could have been? What should have been?
During your stay, you began to wonder who was truly at fault. Was it you? Or perhaps Jing yuan? Or was your mother the one in the wrong all this time?
With a heavy heart, you approached her. Concealing your true identity, you became her friend. You asked her about life, about love, about failed projects. And it was one night, when you both were drinking (she convinced you to drink non-alcohol despite you being hundreds of years old.) Her drunk self quickly admitted to her wrongs, to her feelings.
(″ I had a child and a husband. Before the current ones. ″ your mother spoke in a melancholic tone. ″ They should be around your age by now. I,..I wasn’t the best mother to them. I was selfish and only thought of myself. I left them behind. Was there for their first day at school, wasn’t there for their first heartbreak. I wasn’t there. And I,″ her lips began to tremble as did your hands. ″I regret breaking the heart of a wonderful man.″ she sobs, the grasp she had on the glass tightening,
″ He was so so wonderful, but I was young and scared of commitment. I broke his heart and just left. I wouldn’t be surprised if he hated me. Gosh,″ she tried to wipe the onslaught of tears but to no avail. The dam was broken. ″It must have been hard, having to juggle between being a parent, a broken man and a general. If only I hadn’t been so dumb.″ You don't remember how you got home that night. Only the still tears and the stains on your pillows being the reminder of reality.)
While sulking in your own sorrows, you met the Astral Express. They were a much needed breath of fresh air. Their comedic and energized selves was something you missed having in your life (you wonder how Yanqing is doing?).
You proudly deemed them the happiest moments of your life.
(The room was pristine. The same state it was after you left. Jing yuan made sure to clean it each time. He hoped that once you returned, you would smile up at him for his help in taking care of it. Just as you did when you were a young little child.
The general was at the desk, much smaller than his build. His eyes focused on the video playing. He listened to your voice. He listened to your complaints. As the next video rolled by, he could only wonder.
What overcame him that pushed him to become such a failure? If his mentor saw him now, she would have knocked some sense into him, or beat him up until not even Lan could help.
Jing yuan misses you.)
Once you met back with Welt and Himeko, the one who you least expected to see again was there, his back given to you. You had half a mind to run away and hide somewhere else, but the tight grip March had on you locked you in place. (You ignored how your heart tugged at the haggard sight of him. He who loved sleeping in the sun like a big cat, looked as though he hadn’t slept in years.).
Your reunion was awkward.
″ Well, would you look at that? Here comes the big heroes—″.
Silence.
And then, a call of your name.
You couldn’t take it any more. You made out some sort of excuse and ran. Just like you did all those years. It was the one thing you pride yourself in. The calls to your name fell deaf on your ears. All your mind could conjure was to get away.
Why was he here? Was he looking for you? No, he wouldn’t waste time with a senseless matter such as your whereabouts. But,..what if he was looking for you?
Your running skid to a stop. And what if he was? What should you feel about it? Happiness, anger or nothing? When did it become so complicated to know how to feel?
He was a father who neglected you. But he was also a father who cared somehow. You weren’t a fool, you saw how hesitant he was to talk to you, the attempts at reconciliation. To mend your relationship. But he was a coward, he never dared to take the leap.
He was still wrong for the neglect.
But do you have the heart to forgive him? Do you have the want for a new bond? To mend the broken and shape it into a new future?
You don’t know.
But it seemed as though Jing yuan took the leap this time. The heavy steps of his were easily recognisable. ″ I,..May we have a moment? ″ Should you?
The look of hurt, familiarity and guilt swirled in his amber eyes. Maybe you should.
″ I know a place where we could talk. ″
The walk was agonizingly awkward. You had to steel yourself so as to not run away. Time had created an obvious gap between you both. Not knowing how to act, not knowing what the other liked. Not knowing about the other. You might as well be strangers.
The sight of the bar owned by Siobhan washed away the tension on your shoulders.
″ We arrived. ″ turning around to meet his gaze, you found it was already on you. Coughing, you walked ahead. Trying to ignore the soft expression he wore. Trying to ignore how guilt swirled in his eyes, trying to ignore how he looked at you as a father would.
″ There will be much to talk about, but let me start. Please? ″ you flinched.
You didn’t expect him to talk first, busy preparing yourself for another hour of silence and uncomfortable small talk. ″ let’s sit down first. ″
He followed behind you like a lost puppy. Ordered a non-alcoholic drink for you despite your protest. And then you sat down,
″ I’m sorry. ″ Jing yuan spoke. ″ I have been nothing but a terrible father to you. I was a coward, fleeing from you, fleeing from my mistakes. I convinced myself it was for your sake. I deluded myself until I forgot who I was to you. Forgot my role as your father, gave you cold when you needed warmth. ″ he inhaled, attempting to calm his beating heart. And there he was acting all nervous, he cursed himself out. Where did all that big speech training in front of a mirror go?
Jing yuan could only lay his heart bare. And pray for you to accept him. To forgive your disappointment of a father.
If anyone saw The general of the Luofu trembling in fear right now, they would call him an imposter. For such a strong pillar of the Xianzhou to shake like a wet dog due to his fear of rejection, how sour.
″ When you…″ you gulped, licking your lips and taking in a breath. It will be fine, all will be fine.
″ When you left me to deal with the pain that mother’s leaving gave me, I was furious at you. How could you? I,..I wasn’t even in school yet—But I had to learn to deal with it. I had to seek comfort from a measly blanket. ″ clenching your fist, you tried calming yourself.
″ I was furious. I was ready to never forgive you, to leave you to rot in that same place you left me! ″ slamming your fist down on the table, you ignored the looks you received. Your eyes staring straight at the calm man.
How can he be so calm?, you choked on a sob.
″ But no matter how hard I tried to detest you, to loathe you. I could never bring myself to do it. ″ With your voice breaking, you let it all go. You let it all fall. The walls you had built crumbled leaving behind only dust and debris.
″ Then I left, hoping to find my mother. And I did, ″ Jing yuan’s eyes widened. ″ But she had built herself back up, found herself a nice home. ″ And just as your heart broke, so did the general’s.
″ I didn’t know what to do. I didn’t know who to blame, was I in the wrong? Who was wrong in this entire farce? ″ you rested your forehead on the table, voice barely above a whisper. You wondered if he could hear you.
″ I was tired. I just wanted to go back to simpler times. ″ your body shook as tears fell. You wanted to wail like a child, you wanted to cry as loud as your vocal chords could allow you. To be in the embrace of your parents once more.
You were just a child.
And Jing yuan could see that. His wrongs could never be forgiven,
Jing yuan stood from his chair, kneeled before yours, and hugged you. He gave you the shoulder you needed to cry on, he let you wail, he let you take your anger out on him. To share your burdens and sorrows with him. He knew how heavy they are, he could help you.
″ I’m sorry. I’m sorry. Please forgive me, my dear sweet child. ″
But perhaps, Jing yuan can atone for his sins. Starting with giving you the comfort you sought.

I am feeling the urge to write an AU where Jiang Cheng finds A-Yuan instead of Lan Wangji. And he’s conflicted and grieving and angry, but this is a toddler. Maybe a two or three years older than little A-Ling.
And because A-Yuan wasn’t hidden out in the elements for days like he is in canon, but this is relatively close to the battle itself, he isn’t as sick. He’s scared and confused and he’s crying silently for his Xian-gege, and when Jiang Cheng finds him, he looks terrified at the stranger and just starts wailing.
And Jiang Cheng is angry and grieving and this child is a Wen, and the Wen murdered everyone he loved, and the Wen are the reason his brother left him behind, but this is still a sobbing toddler that wasn’t even born yet when the Wen attacked Lotus Pier, a sobbing toddler who is crying for his Xian-gege to come save him, and as angry as he was, and as with as many people as he killed (because he was a soldier in a war, he’s killed many), he never killed a child and he wasn’t going to do it now.
So he awkwardly tries to calm the boy down, and when he cried himself to sleep, Jiang Cheng scoops him up in his arms and carries him off to Lotus Pier.
And it’s rough. Because the only acceptable way to go about this, about taking this boy in, is giving him his name. Making little Wen Yuan into Jiang Yuan. There is something wrong about it. About someone who belongs to those who took everything from him, having his name and his home.
He wonders if that’s how his mother felt, watching the son of the woman who took her husband’s heart run around her home.
There is something wrong about watching that child play and seeing the ghost of his brother, seeing his brother’s smile on his face and hearing his brother’s laughter from his mouth
He wonders if that’s what his father felt like, looking at Wei Wuxian and seeing the ghosts of the friends he loved.
And a realisation dawns on him that it doesn’t matter, because even though this child has the blood of his family’s killers, he can’t fathom the thought of hitting him with zidian. It makes him sick, to think of a child under that thing, or the many other punishments his mother found for them. For Wei Wuxian.
The boy calls him uncle Jiang, and Jiang Cheng remembers another voice calling that name excitedly across the piers, and wonders why his father, who everyone said loved Wei Wuxian, didn’t give him the protection of his name.
Jin Ling doesn’t grow up as alone, here. He has his big cousin Jiang Yuan, who is bright and confident and loves him a lot, and who he follows like a little duckling as he grows up. It’s only when they both grow up a little that they start finding things a bit odd, like how Jiang Yuan calls Jiang Cheng his paternal uncle, yet no one ever speaks of the man having a brother.
So they set to find out.

lion-heart,
JING YUAN has been called "lion-like" before.
it's a fitting description. some of his physical features — his slanted golden eyes, his sly smiles, his powerful presence — and even a few aspects of his personality — his consistent slumbering, his relaxed gait, his lazy blinks — all of those only contribute to that identifier.
and, like any lion, he is fiercely protective of those he calls his.
yanqing, for one. his retainer — or, perhaps, son would be the more accurate term.
you, for another.
JING YUAN gives love easily. his heart is big enough for the entire luofu. he's been christened a benevolent general. he guards his people with the ferociousness of a lion defending its pride, and gives them all he is able to give.
it's inevitable, however, that some people make places for themselves in his heart. he loves in abundance, but there are a few for whom that love carries on.
once, it had been simply the high cloud quintet — the luofu's sword champion, the vidyahara high elder, the master forgesmith, the foxian traveler. though, of course, he knew them by different names.
and now, the space that houses those he cherishes above all else has grown. the master diviner. the young lieutenant.
and, of course, you.
when he closes his eyes, he traces the curve of your smile. the crinkle of your eyes. the way your lashes feather against your cheekbones. there is an ever-present yearning in him now.
he cannot imagine a life without you. and nor would he want to.
you have filled him up with so much love, he feels like he could be drunk on it alone. if he could bottle up the feeling, he might, just so he would never have to feel sad again.
JING YUAN is the kind of person who would love someone for eternity, and perhaps even beyond that.
💬 DIRECTOR'S CUT: clears throat. jing yuan. send tweet. but in all honesty, i adore jy as a character. he's my blorbo. i want to give him nice things and have him adopt me. anyways: enjoy your general!

The Luck-Bringing Cat
Jing Yuan x Fem!Reader; a shy former imperial concubine
The Apothecary Diaries-esque AU (I am kinda-sorta stealing this plotline from ep. 3), arranged marriage, budding romance, domestic fluff, pet names (JY calls Reader my dear, my love), Reader is also referred to as ‘my lady’ 💌 3.162 words
Jing Yuan, a famed general and childhood friend of the emperor, has yet to take a wife. The emperor decides to solve this by giving one of his least favorite concubines to his best friend. Even though Jing Yuan is against this practice, he can't help but fall head over heels in love once he meets you.
Thank you so much to @a11eya for beta-reading this for me!
Only one man had managed to stay at the emperor’s side through most of his life. Jing Yuan, the son of imperial scholars, made friends with the crown prince early in their lives, and they quickly became inseparable. As they aged, Jing Yuan became an asset to the newly crowned emperor; a seasoned warrior, an accomplished general, a brilliant strategist, and one of the few people who dared oppose the monarch when needed.
The emperor loved him like a brother. And it worried him that Jing Yuan never seemed interested in taking a wife. The general was far from blind to the longing gazes of the women of the court, he accepted their offers on occasion but he never seemed to want more than one or two nights with any woman. The emperor did not see anything wrong with this as he himself split his time more or less equally between his favorite concubines. But any man who was less fortunate than the emperor should surely want something more stable, especially a man who was slowly getting through his best age.
When Jing Yuan was pressed about why he did not want to marry, he stated with a lazy smile that he had neither the time nor the energy for that kind of courtship. But the emperor saw the slight downturn of the corners of the general’s lips. He saw through the facade of his best and oldest friend.
I have neither the time nor the energy for that kind of courtship. But I desperately wish I did.
The emperor thought deeply about this issue. Then he remembered someone in the inner court. A concubine who had fallen from his favor at their first meeting. He had never spent time with you after that. Why, he had barely thought about you in years. Still, you were a beautiful woman, well-educated, and, from what he had been told, quite quick-witted. You would make a good gift for his best friend.
Now he just needed to convince Jing Yuan that he would not take no for an answer.
Jing Yuan was still unable to fully understand how everything had come to this. He could not fathom why the emperor suddenly wanted to give him one of the imperial concubines as a wife. Giving an unfavored concubine to a newly appointed officer as a reward was far from an uncommon practice, Jing Yuan was well aware of that. But he had never expected it to happen to him, not after so many years in service of the emperor. He had been lucky to manage arranging a meeting with you before the wedding.
This practice seemed so wholly unfair in his mind. Unfair to you and any other concubines affected by the custom. You had already been given as a gift to one man, now you were being given to another, neither of whom you had chosen for yourself. Jing Yuan knew there was little he could do about the situation, but he did not feel right accepting another human being as a gift.
He continued towards the palace gardens which had been chosen as the meeting place, still in deep speculation about whether he had any chance of changing the emperor’s mind.
Turning a corner, he was torn out of his thoughts when he came upon a small gathering of women, all of them wearing identical robes. One held a folded-up parasol. They were all calling out to someone in voices too hushed for Jing Yuan to discern any words.
Ladies-in-waiting, he thought, paying them little mind. Then, his eyes fell on you.
The emperor had shown him a painting of you, commissioned shortly before you had begun your journey to the palace. Even if some years had passed since then, Jing Yuan still instantly recognized you.
You stood at the top of a small bridge crossing one of the many creeks in the garden, your face tilted up towards a nearby tree. The setting autumn sun fell upon you at an angle that made your skin and hair glow. Tearing his gaze away from you, Jing Yuan looked towards the tree as well, his trained ears picking up the song of finches. For a moment he wondered if it might be the same flock that visited the small garden of his own residence. Turning his eyes back to you, he watched as you lifted a hand, holding it up towards the tree. A finch took off from a branch and landed on one of your outstretched fingers.
Until now your face had been mostly devoid of emotion, eyes fixed on the tree. But when the finch landed on your hand, looking calmly at you with one black eye, your features softened, a fond smile gracing your face like the sun appearing from behind rain clouds.
Jing Yuan watched you lift the bird closer to your face, whispering to it, your other hand coming up to gently scratch the top of its head. He unconsciously raised a hand to his lips in an attempt to hide the smile blooming there. If this was how you behaved with one of his beloved finches (and he was certain at this point that the bird was indeed from the flock he possessively thought of as his), if you acted so kind and loving towards the smallest of creatures with no prompting, then marrying you could quite possibly be one of the best things to ever happen to him. The thought of having you gifted to him still felt wrong, but… perhaps he did not need to dread it as much as he had at first.
Stepping forward, he cleared his throat, trying his best to school his features into a pleasant, if slightly detached, expression.
You gasped, raising your arm to hide your face behind your long sleeve. The finch took off, frightened by your sudden movement, and the rest of the flock followed it. The flapping of their wings filled the air, drowning out your greeting as you and your ladies-in-waiting bowed to him.
Jing Yuan felt another smile tug at his lips. He managed to hide it behind his hair as he returned your bow.
Your ladies-in-waiting quickly moved to one side of the walkway, letting him pass. He looked at you as he ascended the bridge. The way you peeked shyly at him over your still-raised sleeve made his heart clench. He sent you what he hoped was a pleasant smile, and nodded towards the path on the opposite side.
“Shall we, my lady?”
The two of you strolled along the garden path for a while, Jing Yuan filling the air with what idle conversation he could think of, and you giving brief, shy answers.
Then, he heard the flap of wings and felt the touch of tiny claws digging into his hair, brushing against his scalp. Soon, he felt a small tug as the finch began to preen him. He could barely help but chuckle when another finch landed on his shoulder. He felt your gaze on him, then your eyes moved to the bird on his far shoulder.
“Oh!” you exhaled.
Raising his opposite hand, he gently encouraged the bird to hop onto one of his fingers, then moved the hand -with bird- closer to you.
“I have worked quite hard on taming them over the years,” he said. “The most recent brood is the tamest yet; they are the only ones so far to actively seek my presence. Though I suspect they only come to me in hopes of food. Would you like to hold it again?”
You looked away, your sleeve rising once more to hide your face. “Again…” you said, sounding very put on the spot.
Jing Yuan tried to quell his laughter. “I must admit that I was watching you for a moment before making my presence known. What I saw was very… endearing.”
You were silent for a while, then you peeked at him over the top of your sleeve. “May I be frank with you, General?”
He nodded. “Please.”
Staying quiet for a few seconds, you then drew in a deep breath. “I was rather nervous about this meeting. I have heard quite a few rumors about you, about your excellence at anything you do. And I was worried that I might not be able to live up to the expectations of the august general. But… You handle these birds with such tenderness and care. They trust you. Maybe they can trust me too, in time.”
Looking off to the side, you finally lowered your sleeve, clasping your hands in front of you. “I am very fond of small animals. My family owned a couple of tame nightingales when I was a child; I used to love falling asleep while listening to their singing.”
He felt another smile tug at his lips. He too had pleasant memories of falling asleep to the sound of bird song as a child. Though in his case it had been the wild birds outside his windows lulling him to sleep. Sharing such a similar memory with you only made him feel delighted.
Briefly peeking at him, as if to judge his reaction to your words, you then continued, “I have always yearned for a cat too, but my parents would not allow it because of our birds. And I never mustered up the courage to request permission to keep a cat after I arrived at the inner court. Though I doubt the emperor would have indulged me.” You sighed ruefully. “I suppose even now, since birds are favored once again, a pet cat will be impossible. The birds will be enough.”
Jing Yuan looked at you for a moment, stroking his chin. “A cat is a pleasant idea. As the saying goes, ‘a cat well cared for may bring luck to its owner.’ Though if I had my way I should like a lion instead!” When he saw your eyes widen, your mouth starting to open in surprise, he could not stop himself from laughing once more. “I jest, I merely jest! A house cat will suffice! Perhaps we can teach it to leave the birds in peace, or keep it indoors at all times.”
The thought of keeping a cat locked inside, though he doubted it was truly achievable, brought his thoughts back to the way you had been hidden away in the inner court for years. His smile faltered. Would it be right for him to mention his hesitation? Would it assuage you to know that he was far from satisfied with how the situation was handled?
If I may be so bold, my lady… You were not the only one who had a certain level of apprehension about this meeting.”
You shrank back a little, shoulders slumping. “I… see.”
Jing Yuan saw you raise your hand again, he could only assume to hide your face once more. Without fully realizing what he was doing, he reached out to take your hand in his.
“Please, do not misunderstand me, my dear! It is not because of you, it is the entire situation. I do not much like being given another person as a gift. And I find it wholly unfair to you to be given away once again.”
He had so much more to say on this subject, so many points to make about how the former concubines nearly always came out as the losers in these circumstances. And yet he felt his mind go blank. He brushed his thumb over the back of your hand in an attempt to gather his thoughts. It had the opposite effect. Your hand was softer and more delicate than he could have ever imagined; so different from his own strong, calloused hands. It took every last shred of self control to not raise it to his lips.
Releasing your hand with great reluctance, he forced himself to finish his thoughts. “I am loath to receive a wife under such circumstances, even if she is one I should have quite liked to court of my own volition, had I been allowed to. But in the end it is His Majesty’s decision. Even so, I can promise you this, my dear: No matter what may come, I will always do my utmost to ensure that we are both happy with this union.”
You grasped the hand he had held with your free hand, rubbing the skin, your head bowed enough that he could not see your expression.
“I-I…”
Then you raised your head again, a small smile tugging at your lips. “I must admit, I am quite relieved that you feel that way. That you understand the situation from my point of view too.”
Jing Yuan returned your smile. “As much as I am against this entire circumstance, I must admit… the more I get to know you, my dear, the more I am looking forward to you becoming my wife.”
The two of you talked for a while longer, then Jing Yuan escorted you and your ladies-in-waiting back to the inner court. Seeing the gate leading to the inner court left him with a sense of melancholy he could not quite place. Perhaps he had already grown so accustomed to your presence that the thought of being without you left him empty. It made him look forward to your wedding day even more.
One early morning, some six months later, Jing Yuan was found crouched over a rosebush in the small garden of his residence, pruning shears in hand. It was something he refused to give up, no matter how many people told him it was below his rank to tend to his own garden. Gardening was one of the few things that truly cleared his mind, one of the few still moments of the day that allowed him to relax. And today, he needed it.
He had already spent several hours lying awake, tossing and turning, his mind whirring, until finally giving up on sleep once he heard the first birds singing outside. Rolling over, he pressed a kiss against your bare shoulder, then left the bed to start his day.
The air outside was cold enough that his breath created little puffs of mist, the remnants of frost biting his cheeks. He paid it little mind; it helped clear his head. And so, he crouched over the few bushes that needed pruning this early in spring, settling into a calming rhythm as the world around him slowly grew from a milky gray to pink and orange.
His rhythm was disturbed as something brushed up against his knee. Looking down, he spotted the white kitten he had presented to you on your wedding day, just a few days before the new year began. You had been infatuated with the cat (as had he, as were both of you even now), and you had aptly named it Snowmoon in honor of the full moon hanging in the sky, casting lambent light over the snow-covered ground of the garden outside your windows.
The memory of that night still made him smile.
Snowmoon raised itself on its hind legs, the little bell on its collar jingling. It propped its front paws against his knee, and chirped imploringly. Jing Yuan could only assume that he had been so engrossed in his gardening that the sound of the bell had gone unnoticed.
How did you get out? he wondered as he picked up the kitten, holding it up in front of him.
The kitten returned his gaze evenly with its brilliantly blue eyes and began to purr. Cradling it to his chest, he stood, intending to put the cat back inside. It had yet to learn that the birds of the garden were off-limits. And the birds had yet to learn what the sound of the bell signified.
But as he stood, he caught sight of another figure in the morning light. You were bundled up in several layers of clothing, seemingly ready to spend a while outside.
Jing Yuan frowned. “What are you doing out of bed, my love?” he asked. “It is still so early.”
You looked away, trying to hide the shy smile forming on your lips. You were still not used to the terms of endearment which he favored.
“I wanted to lend you a hand,” you said.
He appreciated the sentiment. But he found it difficult to imagine you crouching in the dirt like he had been.
“There is no need, my dear, I am almost finished.”
Your mouth set in a stubborn line. “Then I will help with the last of it.”
The firmness in your voice made his heart flutter. He enjoyed all the work you put into getting to know him better. And he made sure to return it tenfold.
“Very well, my love. Let me just put this little rascal back inside.”
As he came outside once again, he found you crouched over the rosebush he had been working on, your long sleeves almost trailing in the dirt.
That will not do.
Jing Yuan pulled out the long ribbon holding his hair as he moved closer. Crouching behind you, he deftly wound it first underneath one sleeve, across your back, then underneath the other sleeve, tying it at your shoulder. His actions left your arms bare, sleeves far out of harm’s way.
You shivered in the cold air, goosebumps forming on your newly exposed skin.
Jing Yuan rubbed your arms, trying to get some warmth into your body. “You are still free to go inside.”
You huffed. “I will not.”
He chuckled, pressing a kiss to your temple.
Handing you the pruning shears, he showed you where to prune, guiding your hands. The two of you chatted idly about the roses for a while, when he expected them to bloom and what colors he had planted. Then the topic moved to the future as a whole.
“Tell me, my love,” Jing Yuan said, wrapping his arms around you, “I know you have only been with me for a few short months, but how do you like it so far?”
You leaned back against him, nestling further into his embrace.
“I enjoy it so very much. I appreciate the freedom I have, compared to the inner court. And…” You turned enough to meet his gaze, raising a hand to caress his cheek. “I have grown quite fond of the master of this house.”
He felt a smile tugging at his lips. “Oh? Do I need to be jealous of this man?”
“Perhaps,” you said, a smile lingering on your own mouth. “He has been very kind to me.”
“I suppose I shall have to be even kinder, then,” he said, before leaning in to press a kiss to your lips.
Maybe there really was something to the saying of ‘a cat well cared for may bring luck to its owner.’ Jing Yuan was certainly feeling very fortunate at that moment.

໒⦂ 𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄’𝐒 𝐘𝐀𝐍𝐐𝐈𝐍𝐆.
synopsis. the general of the xianzhou luofu is absolutely knocked out, nowhere to be found, and you’re left to look after his son retainer.
genre. fluff + crack
tw. secondhand embarrassment..
for @melukonova <3
jing yuan x gn!reader.
“i am not a child!” the blond haired swordsman whined out, sheathing his icy blade. “therefore i do not need babysitting!”
you let out a sigh, throwing your bow on your back as you caught up to the fuming teen. “i don’t wanna look after you anymore than you want me to. but your dad- i mean, mentor, ordered me to.” a chill ran down your spine. “and i don’t even want to know what would happen if i disobeyed and lost you.”
the dozing general, as your good friend sushang called him, was all lax and carefree until angered. you being you, the last thing you wanted was to see first hand what that anger looked like. after all, they did say the calmer ones are scarier when they snap.
yanqing eyed you for a moment before letting out a huff, unfazed by her reasoning. “what makes you think i would get lost? i’m perfectly capable of handling myself, i’ve been doing so for years now!” he argued before drawing out a hum. an idea. “but..” he dragged out, peering at you from the peripheral of his gaze. “if you want to waste your day chasing me around, i suppose you’ll have to keep up!”
and just like that, the boy was gone within a sprint.
your palm came in contact with your forehead as you let out an ( exasperated ) sigh. normally you would have left the kid to do his thing, but with the mara-struck soldiers around and all sorts of dangerous beings.. it wasn’t wise to leave him on his own, even if his skills rivaled or outnumbered your own.
“this kid is gonna be the death of me.” with that in mind, you bolted after him. “wait up!”
yanqing didn’t dare slow down as he maneuvered his way through the artisanship commission — a favored place of his. for awhile he’d been eyeing a sword there, but sadly.. he’d spent his entire paycheck upon receiving it.
which for reference, was last week..
however, two days ago yuan had provided him with the necessary credits to purchase the blade. hence his pursuit for the antique store.
when his peridot eyes found his destination, they sparked with relief when they caught sight of the sword. his prayers had been answered! no one bought it!
he took the antique meticulously into his hands, as though afraid it could shatter if handled incorrectly, as he brought it up to the counter.
“sir yanqing, you’ve returned!” the storekeeper greeted, smiling brightly. “the sword’s been waiting for you the entire week! since no one has come to purchase it, it seems it was meant to be with you after all!”
the ice user let out a chuckle, folding his arms proudly across his chest . “it seems so!” he grinned before reaching into his pocket. “same amount as before?”
a nod. “same amount!”
relieved to hear it hadn’t gone up in price, yanqing continued his search.. only to come out empty handed.
the boy blinked in surprise, reaching into another pocket.. and nothing again.
“i must have left it at the estate!” he mentally scolded himself before looking up with a blush coating his cheeks. “i-i um.. left my wallet at home.. is there any chance you can hold onto the sword while i get it?” he asked, praying the shopkeeper would say yes, but his apologetic smile said otherwise.
“i’m sorry sir yanqing, it would go against the store policy since we’re an antique shop — you sort of find what you can get..”
the young prodigy paled, whispers entering his ears around him about the blade. if he left, someone was sure to take it!
“what to do, what to do..”
“yanqing, there you are! i’ve been looking everywhere for you.” you called out, glancing between the blond and the store clerk. “were you going to buy this?”
his eyes widened at your ability to have caught up so quickly. he thought he’d lost you amidst the twists, turns and teleportation! it seemed his methods in slipping away still needed work. he could only wonder how the general had perfected his so well.
parting his lips, yanqing felt the need to interrogate you on your abilities in finding him, but he closed them right after, his curiosity faltering. “it doesn’t matter, i left my credits at home so i can’t buy it.” he mumbled back, cheeks burning as the words left his mouth. how could he have made such a rookie mistake?!
a hum left your lips at his reasoning before you reached into your utility belt, pulling out a sum of credits you’d received just yesterday. “how much is the weapon?” you stepped forward, holding out the bills in your hand.
the blond nearly felt his jaw drop at your actions. were you going to pay for him?? he couldn’t allow that — it wasn’t right!
“w-wait, y/n! i can just get another one some other time!” he blurted, tugging on your wrist to pull you back.
however, you ignored him. “will this be enough or does it cost more?” you asked, refocusing your gaze on the shopkeeper — who looked almost dumbfounded. how much did cloud knights earn?!
“um- it will do, y-yes..” the owner answered quietly, popping the register open before grabbing a tote. “would you like a bag with that..?”
you looked towards your blond companion, nudging him out of his daze. “bag or no bag?”
“n-no bag..” yanqing answered quietly, taking the blade off the counter before sheathing it at his hip.
the walk to the estate was quiet, minus the rustling of the trees and gossiping of birds.
no wonder the general liked his naps so much, it was peaceful and much needed- considering his workload.
yanqing hadn’t spoken a word after saying he didn’t need a bag.
part of him was still disbelieved about it all. if it hadn’t been for you grabbing his wrist to guide him back home, he would’ve remained frozen in his place.
the silence didn’t matter to you though, your job of looking after yanqing was nearing its end. you could return to your post in about twenty minutes worry free.
“y/n, yanqing!” the general greeted at the gates, smiling that cat-like grin he always sported. “i was beginning to think something had happened that required me to save you both.” he teased, sliding his gaze over to his retainer’s hip before letting out a chuckle. “i see you went shopping. is that the one you’ve been eyeing?” he inquired gently, folding his arms comfortably over his chest.
the teen looked up at the albino haired male for a moment before lowering his eyes, shame overcoming him. “a-about that, i left my wallet here.. so y/n bought it for me.” he confessed, flushing like he did before. he felt bad to have you pay, after the way he behaved with you earlier.
and yuan had no issue picking up on this as he let out a hum. “really now?” he questioned softly, peering over at you for confirmation.
surprise crossed your features upon being addressed before you inclined your head. “he was worried someone would buy it if he left the store, so i paid. but it’s no issue at all! t-truly, general..”
the lightning user let out a hum. “i see. well i can’t let your kind actions go to waste.” he spoke up finally, raising a hand to his chin.
“that’s alright- consider it a gift.” you smiled awkwardly, waving your hands dismissively before flitting your eyes to the blond. “i hope the sword finds you well.”
yanqing felt his guilt creeping up on him as he watched you turn before he could say his thanks.
and then his voice found him. “w-wait..!” he blurted out, grabbing your hand, as you did previously to him. “you didn’t let me thank you properly..” the ice user spoke up, swallowing his embarrassment to look over at the golden eyed male beside him for permission. “can y/n stay over for dinner?”
“dinner?? with the general and his retainer?!” you shouted in your head, astonished that the boy was even asking such a thing when all he wanted was to get away from you.
“a-ah, yanqing that’s okay- it was a gift! therefore no payment is required.. and i don’t want to intrude.” your voice quieted at the last sentence, suddenly feeling flushed yourself.
you had a post to get back to and later a box of leftover takeout waiting for you at home. having dinner with the general and his apprentice was completely unheard of!
however, the general in question thought otherwise. “hmm.. i think the kid is right.” jing yuan finally said, lowering his hand to the arm over his chest. “you’re relieved of your duties for tonight. yanqing, show them in while i get dinner started.”
with that, the general was already walking through the gates into his grand estate.
and once more.. you were left to look after his retainer — or in this case, he was left to look after you.
“um.. this way.” the blond brought you out of your trance when he dropped your hand, moving a few steps ahead of you.
the walk was awkward to say the least, he was truly hoping for yuan’s assistance on this, but alas.. he had other plans.
perhaps this was yanqing’s punishment for forgetting his wallet behind. “have you visited here before?” he sliced through the silence, though not as cleanly as his swords would.
you slid your eyes to him, surprised to hear him speak, though you recovered quickly. “a few times to deliver messages, but never beyond the gates.”
the blond nodded in understanding. jing yuan was keen on not mixing home life with work, he liked to preserve his relaxing environment. which made sense, people came home to relax and get away from their job.
he continued onward with you, stopping at the small nook he normally spent time off in to grab what looked to be.. digital checkers?
your brows rose a little. despite yanqing arguing that he was not a child, he sure favored his games.
his eyes met yours — a wordless invitation.
it’s not like there was much to do. anything to pass the time ( and embarrassment ) will do.
“alright, dinner is ready!” the snowy haired general called, walking out with a crockpot in hand — a culinary achievement of his. “who’s hungr-”
“HOW?!” yanqing’s voice tore through his question, causing him to blink. his retainer wasn’t one for losing his cool around others; had he missed something?
you surveyed yuan at the doorway for a second before lowering your eyes to the blond, lifting your shoulders at his outburst. “beginner’s luck?” you asked with an innocent smile.
only, he wasn’t buying it. “no way-! then i demand a rematch to test that statement!”
“how about you let our guest eat first.” the general chimed in, chuckling softly when the boy sharpened up instantaneously. worked every time. “i see you and y/n have been quite busy in my absence.. perhaps i’ll have to try my luck with them as well.” he mused, winking over at you.
your face heated up at the gesture, not having anticipated that of your superior, but you tried not to think too much of it.
sure he was a smooth talker and incredibly handsome. you’d even caught that foxian ambassador selling his pictures once!
however you knew better than to become romantically attached. least of all with your, quote on quote, boss.
even so, you couldn’t help those butterflies that crept into your gut at that wink. it was heart-stopping.
you took the vacant seat the boys had left you- across from yuan, ironically. once again, you tried not to think much of it.
but how could you do that after his fingers brushed yours so delicately when you reached for the ladle?
the way his golden eyes fell to yours and that dreamy look on his face with that lazy smile. no wonder you kept away from the general, you wouldn’t survive a day!
yanqing eyed the exchange, glancing between you and his caretaker. something felt strange in the atmosphere, and at this point, he was rethinking his choices on inviting you to eat. this was.. embarrassing to witness, and he’d had enough of his own share already.
still, it would be rude to send you home or question his guardian’s actions.
that, and he couldn’t help this weird, fuzziness in his chest. the little kid in him that yearned for that familial feeling.
granted, jing yuan on his own was a father figure enough — but right now, sitting at the table between you both.. he couldn’t help the rush of emotions he felt all at once.
he wondered if maybe, you would come again to dinner if he asked you to.
notes. hi queen i was trying so hard to get this out on your birthday but i fr blanked out and the creative juices went dryer than sumeru’s desert😐 anyway i hope this was what you wanted?? went from where’s waldo ( yanqing ) to very fluffy dinner??? first time writing jing yuan AND yanqing too, so i am um.. concerned for the portrayal. but i hope it satisfies you! and happy happy birthdayyy mami, mwah<3

Hello, I guess I didn’t bother you too much, because I’m very embarrassed to ask (・–・;)ゞ
But I got an idea because of this I wanted to share
What about Cat!Jing yuan x reader
Reader takes care of and cares for Jing Yuan
You know Jing Yuan is very jealous if you communicate with people Or worse admire with other cats.... He will never mate with other cats
He is an affectionate cat, but has never wanted to mate with other cats, Because he loves only you and no one else
But one day he will bring a kitten that will look like Yanqing, you will not be able to stand such a defenseless and cute kitten, And you also accept him as your own animal
But one day Jing Yuan will turn into a human (in front of you), And he will mate with you (゜o゜;
this is always on my mind… affectionate meow jing yuan 💖💖💖
cw: yandere, jealousy, manipulation, mating, non-con
✧- Meow Jing Yuan is a big white fluffy cat. He mysteriously arrives at your home one day, showing no signs of being a stray, clean and charming. Whenever you lift him up and kiss him, the white hair will float in the air, and his fluffy and smooth tail will sway, indicating his good mood.
✧- If you're focused on work or watching something like Youtube, Jing Yuan will press his fleshy paws on your body, licking your cheeks and arms, inviting you to pet him. No matter how much you teach him to sleep on a pet mat, he will curl up in your arms and sleep with his face on your chest, purring.
✧- His golden eyes stare at you every quiet night, guarding your home and alerting you to any possible threats.
✧- You once joked and asked him if he liked the neighbor’s kitten. Jing Yuan didn't even look at the other cats. He licks the back of your hand to show his loyalty to you. You giggled, not really knowing what he meant.
✧- Absolute jealousy and manipulation. Pretend to be pitiful. You catch your girlfriend/boyfriend/spouse "hurting" your kitty!! Break up with them and block them.
✧- One day, Jing Yuan came to you while biting the neck of a puff-colored kitten. That's so cute. You think they are a father and son who took in the kitten and called him "Yanqing" according to the name on his brand.
✧- Jing Yuan's transformation begins during the estrus period. You panicked to find that you were pressed under a tall, white-haired man with broad shoulders… mating… He licked your cheeks affectionately, as if you were a delicious piece of cake, before kissing you deeply…

is it possible for a woman to inherit a sect or only sons?
Hi nonny!
I wrote about this a bit here, but traditionally to like, the wuxia genre: 1) this was (depending on the sect in question of course) mostly a meritocracy, so it's not strictly true that the daughters or sons of the former sect leader is inheriting the sect but also 2) the gender for many sects is entirely irrelevant, many prominent jianghu families in many many wuxia books aren't exactly like, desperate for sons even if they have (1) child and that child is a girl, like what will girl do? girl will learn martial arts. like it's hard?
In fact in classical wuxia it's actually quite...common to have female sect leaders (either of entirely female sects or of mixed gender sects) because sects are kind of, things you join rather than things you're born to and you inherit them because shifu said so, not due to biology.
For example, Huang Rong in Legend of the Condor Heroes and Return of the Condor Heroes, is the sect leader for the Beggar Clan, which is the largest and most powerful sect in the wulin instead of her husband Guo Jing, who was also a disciple of the previous sect leader.
Xiao Longnv from Return of the Condor Heroes comes from the Ancient Tomb Sect which, only accepts women btw, so all of their sect leaders have been women.
Yuan Ziyi's shifu, Baixiao Shenni, from Young Flying Fox was the sect leader of the Tianshan sect and a Buddhist Nun.
Dingxian from Xiao Ao Jiang Hu and her sisters, Dingjing and Dingyi, form a group called the "Three Elder Nuns" who are the leaders of the Northern Hengshan Sword Sect. Also from XAJH, Lan Fenghuang is the leader of the Five Immortal's Cult.
I'm not going to keep going down the list of like, female sect leaders in the traditional sense of the jianghu (for the record, all of the above books were written and published in the 1950s-1970s so it's not a recent phenomenon at all), but like, wuxia as a genre has in general, been surprisingly egalitarian on matters of gender. The fact of the matter is, this was the genre that first told me, at 7 or 8 years old that like, women can be powerful and intelligent and unhinged, whether they're villains or heroes or anywhere in between.
So uh, I think the reason you might not be aware of this Nonny (which is not a strike against you in any way!) is because danmei is primarily what's popular right now and danmei as a genre from what I've seen does not have uh, a great track record of bountiful female characters who are well rounded and extant or in positions of power.

1. I hope you can help me find this. All I remember is one scene of WWX's parents talking about JC's birthday and that WCZ should go. He doesn't want to go and instead buys a sword to send. He thinks about how many nice things he has to buy JC and that he can't afford to buy his son. That's all I can remember. I know I've reread this but remember nothing else. Thank you for any help.
FOUND! The Young Masters of Four Seasons Manor by gaotamao (G, 91k, WangXian, WenZhou, YeRong, Time Regression fix-it, WKX raises monstrous sons, Not Jiang Sect Friendly, No Golden Core Transfer) Could #1 be The Young Masters of Four Seasons Manor? There's a couple of passages in chapter 2 that reference what the requestor mentions.

2. Hello! I’m looking for a fic I read a long time ago. I might get some details wrong, but this is what I remember; Wei Ying gets pregnant with Lan Zhan’s child, and when Madame Yu finds out he refuses to name the father because Lan Qiren makes him feel like he’s unworthy. He basically disappears and ends up with the Wen, having A-Yuan and hiding from everyone. Lan Zhan eventually finds him and basically adopts A-Yuan before Wei Ying finally admits he’s their biological son.
(requester here) Wasn’t that one. I can give a few more details if that might help? It wasn’t a modern AU. I think Wei Ying and Lan Zhan were going to get engaged, but because of something Lan Qiren did/said Wei Ying ended up refusing to name the father when he found out he was pregnant, and Madame Yu was furious because she assumed he had been sleeping around and thus ruined the engagement. He basically went off the grid, and the only people who knew where he was were the Wens, who he ended up settling down with (though he did have his own house).
NOT FOUND! A Fortuitous Bad Encounter by VividestList (E, 26k, WangXian, LXC & WWX, A/B/O, Omega WWX, Alpha LWJ, mild dubcon mentioned, in that WWX thinks that he used his heat to get LWJ to have sex with him, but we all know that’s a lie and he just can’t take a hint, LWJ was drunk tho, but that dubcon was also canon, mentions of mpreg, Mpreg, Misunderstandings, Mating Bites, Mating Cycles/In Heat, Kid Fic, Dirty Talk, Possessive Sex, possessive LWJ, Riding, Praise Kink, Rough Sex, Hair Pulling, Breeding Kink)

3. Can you find a wangxian sorry Its wangxian ongoing story Its start with wei Ying being an archaeologist digging an ancient cave and finding lan Zhan's mummy. In the past life they didn't get the chance to marry so in this life theri wedding preparations is going to take place in 3 days

4. Hi I'm looking for fic I read a while ago. It's a werewolf au. Wei Wuxian is born as a special wolf (i think he was called the senna). Its a modern day with wolf packs. There is a war againt the wens. I remember wangxian doesn't get together until after the war, because lwj would have to fight his brother and wwx is trying to heal from his ptsd from the war. If you know what its called or if its been deleted, I would appreciate it. Thank you! @the-door-wizard

6. hello!!! this is a fic finder for a fic i’m seriously hoping isn’t deleted… ok so boom, it’s a modern au where i THINK it starts off with lxc noticing that lwj is making more purchases and buying expensive devices from looking at his bank acc. the reason lwj was buying more things was because wwx was working at a tech store and lwj wanted an excuse to see him
the main plot was that wq thought that lwj was a sugar daddy towards wwx because he kept buying him expensive presents, like watches and such, and lxc thought wwx was a sugar baby towards lwj because lwj kept buying him things.
it culminated in this huge misunderstanding with all of them in front of the daycare a-yuan attended, where i think it got cleared up from there.
im seriously hoping i’m making sense rn, thank you in advance!!!

7. Hello again!!! I have been following your work for over a year now and it makes my day everytime!!! Thank you for doing this!! This time I am looking for a soulmate fic where Wei Wuxian dies and travels back to the rooftop scene. The summary for the fic was along the lines of "If soulmates die without confessing they go back to the first time they met each other." I think it was also a time travel fix-it. Thanks again!! @yilinglaobunny

8. Hello! I'm trying to find this one modern au fic where lan zhan called this luxurious clothing shop to book a time for him and wei ying there, and he also ask the shop to bring Cartier(i think) there cuz he wanted to look at the rings to propose wei ying. I seriously cannot remember the title. Someone help me pleaseeee

9. Hi!! Last time no one found the fic, do I'll ask again a case someone who didn't see the last time knows the fic. I'm trying to find a fic I'veread a while ago, but I can't find it anywhere. Wy, once reborn, didn't see Lz's scars while Lz was bathing in the cold springs and he tried to steal the jade pass. Once they get together is where the plot kinda flees from my mind. I don't remember if Lz only ever had sex with Wy if he (Lz) was almost fully clothed or if he just straight up refused to be intimate. I guess Wy fearing that Lz didn't find his new body attractive and voicing that fear to Lz is what makes Lz tell him the truth??? I'm not sure tho. Anyways, in the end, Lz reveals the scars that the discipline whip left on him, and tells Wy that he's never been ashamed of his scars, but that once Wy came back and they got together, he became terrified that Wy would find repulsive how deformed the scars made his back look.

10. Hi! This is for fic finder. I dont remember much. Its modern au where wwx is an actor. He got a role in film and then he used train to meet other actor to discuss their role. The script only contain what they are doing in this scene, so they have to improvise and they use their own name for the film. Wwx meet lwj there. I think wwx start coming early to spend time alone with lwj? Thats all i can remember. Thanks! @idontknowwhattowriteforusername

11. Hello! I’m looking for a fic that I remember having in my history but can no longer find. It was a modern day WangXian fic with an office setting, I believe. 12. Hello! I was looking for a fic that I have already read and I kind of want to reread them. What I remember in this fic, it's about wei wuxian falls off the clip and time travels and fall into the pond of gusu lan/ Lan Zhan's arms I think. 13. For the Fic Finder: I'm looking for a fic where LWJ goes to a coffee shop for a first date with Su She, but it turned out to be a prank--Su She was outside livestreaming LWJ being stood up. WWX saw the stream and raced to the coffee shop to ruin it by being LWJ's date (I don't remember if they were already friends or had just seen each other around campus). Anyway, they end up dating for real. Later, there was a confrontation with Su She on campus.

14. Hello! I’ve seen your work and I’m very I was very impressed. I apologize of adding to your workload, but I wanted to try my luck. I’ve been looking for the story for months, and I really hope it’s not deleted but… so the basic summary is that it’s a post canon, LWG is cursed (by meng Yao’s mother) with a whipping curse that basically leaves whip scars all over his body, including his face.
LWG hides for like two years and WWX finds LWG battered and scared that WWX wouldn’t love LWG and his face so they go through the process of trying to cure his curse, and get revenge for lan zhan. Really good story, I was so sad when I couldn’t find it again thank you for your help, good luck again!! @chocolateclodtreehuman
for #14, was lan zhan cursed as a baby , and was wei ying hired as the curse breaker?
~*~
15. hiii im looking for a post-canon fic where each chapter is told from the perspective of someone who liked lan zhan and later found out he was with wei ying. i remember one of them was from the nie clan, and also there was one chapter where a lan clan healer thought wei ying was being abused because of the amount of healing salve he used, but it was just sex marks. @ashxi-wx
15 is familiar, but I couldn't find it in my bookmarks. Not the requester, but if it's the one I'm thinking of, it was kind of a 5+1 style. I want to say the juniors were involved, something like "5 times someone flirted with LWJ" but could be mixing it up with another fic. I hope someone knows this one, because now I want to read it again too!

16. Hi! I'm looking for a fanfic based on From (a television series). 17. Fic finder request - Not sure if this was part of a collection or a twitter thread, but the story was from an outsider POV. A group of cultivators were determined to curse Wei Ying and did everything in their power to try to get rid of him, but each one backfired.
Each time they tried, the curses/arrays used were bigger and cost more energy. Soon, the group shrunk cause each time they tried something, it would just bring a positive change to Wei Ying. I cannot remember everything they tried, but the last curse they tried, the biggest, final attempt was something about "Never experiencing fatherhood" or something along those lines.
The story ended with a discussion conference in Cloud Recesses, and both Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian were greeting people at the entrance, and Wei Wuxian was visibly pregnant (and, of course, not upset at all about the prospect).
I do remember it was on AO3 and was a one-shot (iirc). I have tried to find it myself, but after a week of searching, have admitted defeat. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you very much! @genavere

Shadow of the King Au Art Dump
Since I very rarely get past the sketching phase any presentable art is rare, but I managed to find some for ya'll
Warning for some old ass art:
1. The Stalwart Generals
I spent an ungodly amount of time figuring out the designs, dynamics, and personalities of all of these monkies so I'll be damned if I don't show them first.
The Generals take care of anything SWK is unable to. They are in charge of FFM when he's not present.
Marshal Ma - While technically all the generals are the same rank, Marshal Ma is considered SWK's unofficial second in command. She's calm in every crisis with a very low bs tolerance and is 75% of the reason why the island doesn't fall to chaos every time SWK leaves. She's highly respected by all the inhabitants and can and will break your spine Bane style if the situation calls for it.
Marshal Liu - Mean bisexual. Marshal Ma's sister and the bane of her existence. On duty she takes her role very seriously. Off duty she likes to keep Ma on her toes with her dumbassery. She's easy going, hates clothes, and loves to fight. She has a slightly concerning amount of knives on her person at all times. She is big gay for General Beng.
General Beng - Meaner lesbian. A siamang and the largest and tallest of the generals. She enjoys dressing up, tea (both kinds), and a good party. She has a very short fuse. While her size and strength alone would generally deter anyone from testing her temper, there are always idiots. She can fight, but she knows her Liu would enjoy it more.
General Ba - The youngest of the generals. While she's not shy, she is very quiet. She does not waste her words. But, when she speaks, the others will stop whatever they're doing to listen. She likes to spend her free time in the libraries. Get her in the right mood and she'll argue with you for hours about the most random subjects.
.
2. Macaque face evolution
Was trying to get a feel for Macaque's face and how it changes throughout the au. Top right is the youngest, bottom right is the oldest. Bro gets all sorts of messed up from the whole died and resurrection thing and very much looks wrong afterwards.
.
3. New fit
Macaque and SWK have the whole cape thing going on, I figured SWK gave Mac one of his own when he was still training under him. I like to think it holds a lot of sentimental value to him since he still wears it in present day but he would rather get his head smashed in again than admit it.
.
4. I'm sure this won't come back to bite anyone later
Eeesh. Imagine spending your whole life training to receive and keep the Sun Wukong's attention only for him to casually give it to some random human boy thousands of years later. I mean, Macaque did betray him and everything, but it's the principle.
.
5. The Tongbi Gibbon Concepts
One of the four world-wrecking/celestial monkies. My brain was very focused on the whole pulling celestial bodies out of the sky part of her abilities that I made her based around that line.
Don't know if this fit is still canon as she and the Horse Monkey had a large role to play in Shadow of the King, and I'm considering if I should take them out
.
Bonus:
I consider the Tongbi gibbon and the Horse Monkey to be older than both Sun Wukong and Macaque in Shadow of the King. The Horse Monkey is the eldest, but the Tongbi's age is nothing to sniff at.
That being said, that does not mean she can't be bought.
Takes place after all the traumatizing shit in SotK
Panel 1
Tongbi: Child, I am an ancient being. I hold the power of gods within me. I was witness to the birth of the Great Sage himself. I have seen nations and empires rise and fall. I have gathered and spent innumerable wealth. Yet you think you can bribe me with 20 yuan?
Panel 2
The host: ...how 'bout 30?
Panel 3
Off-panel (Horse Monkey): TONGBI!!
MK: I thought the nimbus made you airsick
Red Son: Not helping, Noodle Boy
Tongbi: BOTH OF YOU SHUT UP!
#edit: added dialogue cause my handwriting is shit#edit: corrected Ba to being the youngest. Idk why I called her the oldest#shadow of the king au#lego monkie kid#monkie kid#lmk#lmk stalwart generals#lmk marshal ma#lmk marshal liu#lmk general beng#lmk general ba#lmk macaque#six eared macaque#lmk tongbi gibbon#sun wukong#myart#lmk comic#doodle
