Data privacy refers to the protection of personal and sensitive information collected, processed, and stored by individuals, organizations, or entities. It encompasses the set of practices, policies, regulations, and technologies designed to ensure that individuals have control over their personal data and that this data is handled in a way that respects their rights, maintains its confidentiality, integrity, and availability, and prevents unauthorized access, use, or disclosure.
Data privacy encompasses a range of concepts and principles that collectively aim to safeguard individuals' rights and interests in their personal information. It involves understanding and implementing measures to control who has access to your data, how it is used, and for what purposes. This extends to both online and offline contexts, as more and more of our activities and interactions occur in the digital realm.
Key aspects of data privacy include: Data Collection: Organizations collect various types of data from individuals, including names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and more. Data privacy emphasizes the need for transparent and informed consent before collecting personal data, ensuring individuals are aware of how their data will be used.
Data Storage and Security: Personal data should be securely stored to prevent unauthorized access, breaches, or leaks. Organizations are expected to implement robust cybersecurity measures to safeguard sensitive information.
Data Processing: When organizations process personal data, such as analyzing it to gain insights or using it for targeted advertising, they must do so within the bounds of applicable laws and regulations. Individuals have the right to know what processing is taking place and to object to certain types of processing.
Data Sharing: Personal data should not be shared with third parties without explicit consent from the individual. This includes sharing data with advertisers, marketers, or other businesses.
User Control: Individuals should have the ability to access their own data, correct inaccuracies, and, in some cases, request the deletion of their data. This principle is enshrined in regulations like the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Understanding your digital rights in terms of data privacy empowers you to make informed decisions about sharing your personal information, using online services, and interacting in the digital world while maintaining a reasonable level of control over your own data.

Many smartphone and laptop owners still need the best VPNs for Android devices. It makes sense to do this, since you don't know who might be using the public Wi-Fi at the coffee shop or hotel. VPNs can also be used to bypass dictators. The government heavily censors the internet in many countries. You will have limited access to the internet if you travel to a country like this.

Okay, look, they talk to a Google rep in some of the video clips, but I give it a pass because this FREE course is a good baseline for personal internet safety that so many people just do not seem to have anymore. It's done in short video clip and article format (the videos average about a minute and a half). This is some super basic stuff like "What is PII and why you shouldn't put it on your twitter" and "what is a phishing scam?" Or "what is the difference between HTTP and HTTPS and why do you care?"
It's worrying to me how many people I meet or see online who just do not know even these absolute basic things, who are at constant risk of being scammed or hacked and losing everything. People who barely know how to turn their own computers on because corporations have made everything a proprietary app or exclusive hardware option that you must pay constant fees just to use. Especially young, somewhat isolated people who have never known a different world and don't realize they are being conditioned to be metaphorical prey animals in the digital landscape.
Anyway, this isn't the best internet safety course but it's free and easy to access. Gotta start somewhere.
Here's another short, easy, free online course about personal cyber security (GCFGlobal.org Introduction to Internet Safety)

"At least 60% use their name or date of birth as a password, and that's something you should never do."

"Crossing the road safely is a basic life skill that every parent teaches their kids. I believe that cyber skills are the 21st century equivalent of road safety in the 20th century."

KOSA IS BACK: UP FOR HOUSE VOTE. CONTACT YOUR HOUSE REPS AND SPREAD THE WORD
Below this video I’ll link the resources and call scripts again as well as the stop kosa link tree
We need to be annoying the absolute shit out of our house reps between now, and whenever the vote is. Call and email every day you can.
I got permission from my mom and my grandma to use their email accounts so I can email my house rep not just once but 3 times a day.
If you’re not American, but still wanna know what you can do to help?
If you know ANYONE who lives in America or have American friends, tell them about this bill and share this info with them.
Remember the only reason the bill has taken so long to get this far and has already gotten stalled is because we keep fighting like hell to kill it.
Spread the word!

I think every computer user needs to read this because holy fucking shit this is fucking horrible.
So Windows has a new feature incoming called Recall where your computer will first, monitor everything you do with screenshots every couple of seconds and "process that" with an AI.
Hey, errrr, fuck no? This isn't merely because AI is really energy intensive to the point that it causes environmental damage. This is because it's basically surveilling what you are doing on your fucking desktop.
This AI is not going to be on your desktop, like all AI, it's going to be done on another server, "in the cloud" to be precise, so all those data and screenshot? They're going to go off to Microsoft. Microsoft are going to be monitoring what you do on your own computer.
Now of course Microsoft are going to be all "oooh, it's okay, we'll keep your data safe". They won't. Let me just remind you that evidence given over from Facebook has been used to prosecute a mother and daughter for an "illegal abortion", Microsoft will likely do the same.
And before someone goes "durrr, nuthin' to fear, nuthin to hide", let me remind you that you can be doing completely legal and righteous acts and still have the police on your arse. Are you an activist? Don't even need to be a hackivist, you can just be very vocal about something concerning and have the fucking police on your arse. They did this with environmental protesters in the UK. The culture war against transgender people looks likely to be heading in a direction wherein people looking for information on transgender people or help transitioning will be tracked down too. You have plenty to hide from the government, including your opinions and ideas.
Again, look into backing up your shit and switching to Linux Mint or Ubuntu to get away from Microsoft doing this shit.

Reddit has a lot of nerve putting this cringe bullshit in front of you for using a VPN when you can literally just replace the “www.reddit.com” with “libreddit.eu.org” and see everything you need in a simpler, cleaner, mobile friendly, ad-free environment.
And bonus: you can use the LibRedirect browser extension to do it automatically for you, meaning you’ll never have to see the pop-up (or the Reddit main site) ever again.

also this is a different and more specific aside so i won't put it on that post but i think there's a lot of people, on here especially, who don't quite realize the extent to which cellbit has been treated like a fucking pariah for years. like people have felt like they could say anything they wanted about him to tear him down without consequence (rip to those people, hope you enjoy being sued) and ordem fans in particular are fucking AWFUL about how they treat him. he's talked about like he's an obstruction that gets in the way of the true and pure ordem, rather than the guy who fucking created it in the first place. everything he did (and still does, although to a somewhat lesser extent these days) was scrutinized to the point of farce and people took every single action of his as filled with malice, like he was always the villain in every situation. i cannot overstate enough how fucking horribly he's been treated for years now and so while i think fair criticism and feedback is beneficial and good, i do think the level of scrutiny that cellbit is frequently under is fucking ridiculous and people should think about why they hold him to certain standards that they don't hold other creators to.
#bell.txt#i also think there's a lot of conversations to be had about fame and all the issues that come with it#and the ways that really popular online creators get so much scrutiny and constant observance#with almost none of the resources that quote unquote real celebs get#like security and agents and managers and all that#its been improving slowly but its still nowhere near enough support (not that traditional media celebs get enough support or privacy either

an arab woman was allegedly arrested after sharing on her public social media a post of solidarity with rafah and the victims in rafah
the (university) student union sent a letter asking to pass a law that allows the university/union to fire or suspend students, lecturers, and staff members of universities in israel if they support palestine.
the increase in hostility toward left wing ideologies in israel is scary!
i am currently working towards bettering my online security, might need to abandon this blog for a new one that doesn’t have any ties to my ip or any email address that can be linked to me, and i will start saving emergency funds in monero XMR.
i REALLY hope that i wouldn’t have to use that money, but at this rate, who knows.
currently i do not plan on running away to europe, but i am saving enough for a one way ticket, i also don’t accept any donations, and really wish i wouldn’t have to.
i am not in any danger right now, but from now on i will take my opsec more seriously, and make sure im ready if shit hits the fan, i’ll keep y’all updated. stay safe. stay hydrated.
free 🍉.
save the armenian quarter.

save kongo.
