Cuz I have no self control, I'm already thinking of the next game jam I want to join up with. I rly appreciate all the kindness I receive on here and all the ppl who reach out to me when I'm floundering. It's so nice to have safe little corner to be a creative blob in.

I want to make the next one actually scary. Most of mine have been pretty kid friendly cuz my nephew likes to play my games. But the biggest criticism I got was (besides the battles being poorly balanced, lol) was it wasn't rly scary. Sad, creepy maybe, atmospheric but definitely not scary.

SO.

I have two directions I'm thinking about going and the more I think about it I'm leaning towards the later one. I'll describe them both anyways. This is mostly just me formulating my thoughts by writing them out, don't feel any social pressure to read all of this, lol.

The first idea is a small northern town that has a secret Christmas holiday ritual they do, called XXmas. Which I'm realizing sounds a little porny, that didn't occur to me until AFTER the name of the ritual is fairly important to the plot haha. I forget sex exists and that ppl have dirty minds.

Basically, the town ritually sacrifices one member when they're 20. They gather all the 19-20 year olds and have them draw for gifts and do a round robin thing and the person who gets the "bad gift" dies. Like drawing straws.

But the main protag has just moved to this town, just turned 20 and doesn't know about this ritual. So they're meeting their peers and helping them do things over a week long period that builds to THE DAY. And on The Day, somehow the MC knows that they have the package and they have a chance to either keep it or give it to someone. So YOU the player have to choose who to kill.

The idea being that it's replay-able and intertwined and if you help X on this day then you find out more about Y and vise versa, etc etc etc.

My worries with this is it's a little... dating sim? ish? and long? and complex? and all writing? And sounds like a nightmare to playtest? If I planned it out REALLY well and did a lot of prewriting I could prob make it nice but I'd be REALLY worried it's still not scary and it's just a lot of reading.

MY OTHER IDEA

Is really dark. High key trigger warning infant death dark.

I had the awful idea of a desperate mom who lost her child just a few days before christmas. And a friend comes over, knitting a huge stocking with crazy fervor. And she tells the MC she knows a ritual to ask "Santa" for a deceased baby back to life. You have to get the ritual exactly right or bad things happen. The stocking is a key first step. And it HAS to be done before midnight Christmas eve.

You have to figure out the riddles, follow the steps and complete a three step ritual to try and resurrect your infant and then go to sleep and see what happens. I think it'd be fun for their to be three different endings, one good one, one with a doppelganger baby and one where either an evil creature shows up and kills the MC or there's... idk a dead baby in the stocking. REALLY GENUINELY DARK. Like kinda outta my comfort zone dark. Yeesh. But that is actually closer to the vibe of these game jams that I'm picking up on. Ppl like the dark shit.

I'm worried about riddles. I like writing them and low key think I'm pretty good at it. I think ppl hate them, haha. Idk. Some ppl like them, some don't. You can't please everyone. I think I want a mix of classic rpg puzzles and the hint to get through them is in the riddle. Every puzzle has a Good, Bad, Worst option of completion. Idk what that looks like but I'm just brainstorming rn, so eh.

Where should I look to when im "looking for sign" from the universe?.. It would be nice to feel that I'm doing what needs to be done. That I'm not going in the wrong direction and potentially sabotaging myself. Any help? Plz.

in my personal opinion, i think the universe sends you louder signs when you need them the most! it's very possible you're on a good path, so the universe hasn't felt the need to send you any signs! when i'm really needing support, i'll just ask the universe for a big, obvious sign. don't be afraid to ask the universe - out loud, write it down, etc. sometimes, the signs are really small (repeating numbers, always seeing the same animals, moments of reflection, random chills/etc) - other times, i would ask for specific signs (ie: you could ask the universe 'please show me 111/repeating numbers if im on the right path'). if you have oracle or tarot cards, i think that's also a great way to communicate with the universe!

i can tell you that if you're really on the wrong path - the universe will generally (imo) send you a big sign, or make it very obvious!! personal example but - like three or something years ago i was dating this awful, toxic guy. i would not let go of him despite all the red flags and lack of genuine feelings and i refused to reflect on anything. i feel like i got little signs from the universe (ie: seeing repeating signs after thinking 'should i leave for good') but i ignored them. then one day i was just journaling and talking out loud to the universe when i was going through yet another rough patch with this guy, and i was like "am i doing something wrong? is it me? i need a sign". next day - i kid u not - my whole house flooded. out of NOWHERE💀 i took that as the biggest sign from the universe ever!!!! (honestly universe was probably tired of me asking for signs then ignoring them lmao so it gave me one so big i had to move out of my house for almost a month) it forced me into a big reflection on my self-worth and whole situation and i swiftly ended things and my life got so so so so much better!!! after that moment i got a lot more in tune to signs from the universe, i learned to pay more attention + accept them, etc.

i think i had a tendency to ignore them before/go against the universe (ie: continually going back to someone toxic, staying somewhere i'm comfortable instead of risky) - and i think a lot of ppl are like that too. the universe will force you out of that comfort zone one way or another!! doing lots of self-reflection and truly being aware of your situation can really help if you're confused about the path you're on! ask yourself things like "what would make me happy? am i currently happy? what would i need to do to achieve the things that make me happy?". journaling can really, really help with that!

if you're having a lot of trouble connecting, you could try buying yourself some oracle cards (i prefer them over tarot cards honestly) and doing a reading/asking for a sign that way!! you could even do those pick a cards on youtube/twitter if you don't want your own cards, but be very careful of falling into the loop of only relying on those and becoming dependent on other's general readings! i don't think it's healthy to frequently consume that content because you can lose track of your intuition/feelings/etc.

i think the more you believe and are willing to receive the easier it is to spot them! but i definitely think the universe encourages independence and doesn't want anyone relying solely on signs. i will say sometimes i go for weeks/months without any signs rly, then other times i'm seeing them multiple times a day. i think it really depends where you are in life and how much support and guidance the universe thinks you need at that time!

i do also want to say be careful of becoming dependent on things like signs or other ppl's validation!! a lot of ppl nowadays (and i was one of these ppl about two yrs ago too) fall into these traps, where they lose trust in themselves and instead rely solely in online tarot readers/videos and signs like angel numbers when making any decisions/feeling your emotions.

here's some signs that i would say are more common and you can try to "look out" for:

numbers: repeating numbers, always seeing the same numbers, etc

animals: i think a huge sign is animals. are you constantly seeing a certain type of bird? cats? are you only seeing animals with white fur? these could be signs!

colours: adding on to the last two, seeing a certain colour over and over can definitely hold meaning

synchronicities: these are some of the most obvious ones! thinking about something and then someone brings it up, thinking about someone and then they message you, having a dream about something unusual/you wouldn't normally see and then seeing it the next day

dreams: pay attention to your dreams x100000!! they are often full of hidden signs - be it from your own self or the universe. don't be afraid to google your dreams; start writing them down in great detail (every detail matters - strongest colours, animals, plot, scenery/place, etc) and see if anything is recurring as well (indicates a stronger message)

I'd love if someone could clear this up for me bc i can't figure out at what point in the arrival to the apartment complex this kid got waylaid by negan.

I'd like to know how negan and this woman met and trusted each other and why they're there but not enough to see it. Tbh I'm fine with him just explaining it in 2 sentences. Wait maybe did the kid somehow escape the complex or something during the attack? Idk what's going on ugh

Why aren't they just storming the complex and killing everyone? They can just find their supplies when they search? I guess this is a lazy way to make sure team family doesn't get found and killed before they get the weapons or something idk. I find it kind of funny that negan is so affected by the pseudo defenestration bc I'm like 99% sure he did the exact same thing w the saviors lol. And even if he didn't he did some pretty fucked up shit without any issue. Altho I guess 6 years gives him a bit of perspective or something. How does she know it better? Was she one of them? Negan was one of them too I guess? But how did THEY escape before the attack? Ugh so annoying.

All in all. Pretty good episode! I liked it! I do wish that it all could have been contained in 1 episode but tbh idk how that could have happened. I feel like none of the flashbacks were necessary like we knew the scouters were gonna be evil. That wasn't a good plot twist. Negan was a good plot twist but again it made the timeline v confusing for me.

I also think it's funny that Alexandria and hilltop and everyone is like "oh what do you know! There's actually another community like 2 hours away that we never knew about in the past 10 years!" But whatever plot holes don't rly matter to Kang. Which usually doesn't actually bother me bc I'm fine suspending disbelief in a zombie show.

Def one of the best episodes this season so far. Tbh not saying much BUT I rly did like it regardless of how shitty the season has been so far lol. Like it's a good episode in and of itself.

Hoping that the apartment complex joins hilltop and just become extras in the background besides negan. I'm assuming they do, and that Maggie's like I'm gonna kill negan and Aaron and Gabe are like you better not bc he's a helper now and there's gonna be even more drawn out repetitive stupid boring tension between him and Maggie. Maybe he'll choose to go to commonwealth to get away from her idk. That would be nice. Still hoping he sacrifices himself for hershel jr by the end of the season as the resolution to his redemption arc

Also thinking about it: magna, yumiko, and yumikos brother that I still can't remember his name have served their purpose. I'm fine if they're just like featured in the inevitable battle as like "remember these 2? Yeah they're still here slitting throats and whatnot" but past that I'm good to just never see them again. Magna found peace w her family and is pissed to be on the bottom rung of society once again. Yumiko is reunited w her brother that we never knew about and apparently they were v close and it was rly hard to be apart for the last 10 years or something idk. Whatever. Brother has saved zeke. They're all finished w their storylines. Sad to see more wlw go but that's tptb fault for Burying The Gays and not making anyone else of the 90 characters wlw in the meantime.

Tldr: good episode. Hoping new characters are contained solely within this mini plot. Didn't mind the lack of caryl at all. Tbh I'm more annoyed when Daryl is featured in an episode and Carol isn't, even if it's not caryl-y lol.

or her shyly asking him to dance at the wedding making up some reason in her mind why it’s a good idea like “this dance is meant for 2 ppl anyway🙄” or “his leg could use the exercise” when she rly just wants her boy’s arms around her. maybe it’d be awkward at first but he’d make a lighthearted comment like “could you imagine effie’s face if she saw our form right now” and that’d break the ice making her laugh and they just hold each other like “🥺���😓 “ even when the dance is over bc they miss each other so bad it hurts

i also want to say i feel like katniss can’t be blamed for being distant, she’s still a kid who’s been thrown into this awful situation! she distances herself from peeta when he’s in this state to protect herself, and that’s okay! hearing this boy who always loved and protected her and made her feel safe wanting to kill her and being mistrustful of her etc really knocked her. add on top of that the guilt she feels for being separated from him in the quell, even though she wanted so badly to keep him safe... for her own sake she had to keep that sense of removal from him because she couldn’t bare the pain it caused.

and now onto the headcanon-y stuff that you’re here for. i think that if katniss was less distant peeta’s recovery would have gone a lot...smoother? i think katniss being there while he healed would’ve sped up the whole process, instead of delly having to essentially act as the middle man between them. the real-or-not-real ‘game’ paired with her presence, proving that she isn’t a threat to him and that she cares for him would surely have helped in his recovery.

that being said, i don’t think anything katniss could have done (in the canon situation) to get him well enough to have any sort of freedom within district 13 in such a short time span. but say for instance, in an AU where the hijacking wasn’t as bad or didn’t happen at all, i can totally see them sharing a room in 13. she really, really missed out on that comfort in mockingjay and it showed in the things she done (kissing the pearl and imagining it was him.... come on suzanne why’d u do our girl like that 🥺) (also the dream scene in the movie francis lawrence i will get you). just having that grounding force that he brings to her would have gone a long way in that time, and things like the rigid routine of 13 life and propos wouldn’t seem so gruelling if she didn’t also have the constant, gnawing worry about peeta. she might actually have found some joy in things like annie and finnick’s wedding, to be able to dance with peeta and her sister and show snow that whatever he done to peeta clearly didn’t have the desired effect.

and you kneecapped me with the idea of them just clinging onto one another, even after the dancing is over. because they need that. they both need a hug so bad, and they really only want it from each other. prim just watching them from the side like 😏 because she knows her sister and would be able to see how much she needs him. also, snarky everlark at their very best when they team up on haymitch and plutarch as they do propos 💀

also can you imagine them being able to train together in district 13? both of those stubborn jocks clashing heads as they try and push each other, him handing her her ass very arrogantly in the hand to hand combat training, and then her getting him back by showing him up at the firing range 💀 they have this whole chaotic dynamic like before the quell and johanna is in the background like what the fuck is wrong these people. but they always make up as soon as they leave, snuggling into each other close at night because they know they almost lost each other and they don’t ever want that again 🥺

however what i’d most like to see from a sound minded peeta in district 13 (aside from lots and lots of everlark comfort) would be his reaction to coin. to me, peeta being sharp as a tack and aware of his surroundings would see right through her. katniss isn’t a very social creature, she’s instantly weary and defensive and therefore doesn’t really read people properly to try and understand them. peeta on the other hand would pick up coins’ exploitative nature (his disgust at her suggestion to hold another games tells us as such, he’s not drawn into her ideology the way characters like gale or beetee seem to be) and i think that would have a big effect on the way katniss deals with her too.

George quietly watches as the other Dream sleeps, brushing away a blonde strand of curly hair on his forehead. “The other Dream.” Just saying the words brings him such a strange feeling of awe. It was just as he expected: the other George had found the other Dream for him, and they were currently in some sort of hotel room. George’s heart still aches a little, realizing he’ll never see Dream again. All he can hope for now is that, with their successful swap, Dream will do as he promised and confess.

George’s movement, though only a gentle touch, appeared to be enough to wake the other Dream. He slowly opens his eyes, asks in his sleepy voice, “George…?” and George is hit with a full wave of adoration. His voice is just like Dream’s, but more timid. More reserved. It’s the cutest fucking thing ever.

“You are so cute,” George says as much, grinning as he props his head up on one of his arms. The other Dream gives a shy huff at George’s comment, and George feels himself melt a little at how much… quieter he is, compared to Dream. “By the way, we uh… we switched.”

It seems to take a second for his words to register, but when they do, the other Dream’s eyes snap wide open. He sits straight up, blinking with a shocked expression. “O-OH.” A beat of silence. “You’re…?”

“I’m the original,” George confirms.

Clay visibles swallows, then he’s quickly moving away from George, a pained expression on his face. “I-I, sorry, I just—” his words come out in a jumble, sounding panicked and disappointed all at once. “George and I were, I mean, the other George and I were— we were…” he holds his tongue, looking torn. “We…”

George tilts his head curiously. “Are we dating?”

A bright flush crawls up the other Dream’s cheeks, and George nearly has a heart-attack, because wow. Okay.

Apparently this Dream blushes??

“I– yes. No. Well, the other George, I guess… we were? But,” Other-Dream only blushes harder as he tries to explain, “Y-you’re him, I guess, so… yeah? Sorry, I know this sounds confusing. It’s, uh, kind of hard to explain…”

George stops him before he can move any further away from him, placing a hand on the other Dream’s waist. “Does that mean I’m allowed to do this?” he asks innocently, and raising himself so that they’re at the same height, he places a single peck on the side of Blushy-Dream’s cheek.

“Uhhhh….” Other-Dream blinks at him, his entire face a bright tomato red as he tries to compute George’s actions. “UHH???”

George giggles at his reaction. “Sorry,” he grins, “Is that not what people in a relationship do?” 

But because Shy-Dream still appears to have short-circuited from George’s kiss, George figures he’ll cut him a break and stop messing around. “I kind of got into a relationship with your other self,” George gets straight to the point. “And you’re basically him, so…” a shrug, “Go out with me?”

It takes a while, but slowly, the smallest of smiles appears on Other-Dream’s face. He rubs his eyes, still looking disbelieving. “Is this just a dream? Am I… am I dreaming?”

George takes that as a yes, and he cracks a smile. “I’m assuming your name isn’t Dream, is it?”

“I… I’m Clay,” he responds, still looking frazzled and in awe. “My name’s Clay.”

“Nice to meet you, Clay,” George greets, holding their hands together. But he doesn’t let go. “I’m George.”

“I know,” Clay replies, eyes wide, “You’re my IDOL.”

And George laughs, because he didn’t expect this. He didn’t expect Clay to be so shy and awkward and mesmerized by everything, and George was just enamoured. There was no other way to put it. Whether it be Dream or Clay, they both fascinated George equally. 

It looked like everything was going to turn okay.

Alt George: I still dunno for sure. But… it helped me recognize my feelings, I guess? Dream: *intertwining their hands* It was the same for me. Imp George: *smirks fondly* I got to meet Dream. And because of him… *elbows* I met this cutie too. Clay: *blushing* G-George… Imp George: And with the extra addition, the George Gang is now better than ever. *smiles, turning to his friends* I’d say we’ve become a better team after all this, haven’t we?

A more coherent answer: Because of Imp’s status, he separated himself from his friends and became a lonely person (which is why he acts the way he does). The reason for the swap as dictated by the universe (or the fanfic gods?? lol) was actually for his sake, and it was Alt’s job to find Clay so that he and Imp could meet when they swapped back.

[And in case the question was directed to the reason for the final swap-back] The criteria was for both parties to “be prepared” for the swap-back. This not only meant both parties had to be willing to return, but that they both had to accomplish their respective goals. For Alt it was finding Clay, for Imp it was to look and learn from the Dream Team’s teamwork and realize he needed to apply it to his own world when he returned.

So basically… romance was never the goal of the swap LOL. Neither was kissing. The characters chose that path for themselves. Hope this helped explain some things!

okay Art first. I genuinely wonder abt him so much, something in specific I think abt is that aside frm Amanda (+ Eric, obviously, but talkin abt disciples) Art is one of the only trap victims EVER 2 be tested twice and it’s like... what’s that abt? Why? as u’ve said b4 it rly depends on how you personally view his character: whether he’s a disciple or not. fr me, both options are equally plausible, n honestly I don’t rly confine myself to either; it sorta depends on what I’m feeling/writing. if we’re talking abt art being a disciple, then the Spinecutter not going off (one of my BIGGEST questions) makes total sense, as Hoffman’s side of the trap was never set up to work either, + Jigsaw disciples have a history (aside from Lawrence) of appearing as victims in other tests/traps. if he were not just another pawn and was in fact a disciple himself, then the Spinecutter was never meant to go off - it was there just to make Eric think it COULD go off/make it look convincing to outsiders. which brings me to ANOTHER question: what does Art know abt Eric? does he know anything? what does he think of Eric?

(lil side note: if Art is a disciple, then I kinda wonder if it’s a lil bit of a Hoffman + Lawrence situation where Hoffman didn’t know abt Art either? just bc he looks so shocked when he sees Art’s face fully fr the first time... that could’ve just been acting on Hoffman’s part but IDK. food fr thought)

personally, I feel like Art probably does know a lil bit abt Eric - at the very least, he’d know tht Eric had been previously tested + failed by John’s rules, but then I feel that he wld also know Eric didn’t rly have a chance in his second test. that is why Art trying so fucking hard to keep Eric alive is interesting 2 me: what is his motivation 2 do that? like he’s been told Eric’s basically just there to get Rigg to participate, he doesn’t have any personal obligation or anything like that. sure, the aim is to keep Eric alive + see if Rigg can pass his “test,” but nobody said anything about grabbing a man you barely know around his ankles to keep him frm hanging himself w a noose made of chains. nobody said anything abt speaking to him so softly, not even raising your voice beyond saying “hey,” and asking him do you understand? when you tell him to keep still and prevent him frm killing his counterpart (which, if Art is a disciple, he knows it won’t, but he still speaks to Eric so softly, so compassionately, doesn’t he?)

nobody said anything abt grabbing him around the waist and steadying him again after being punched by said man. but Art does that. he stabilizes Eric’s feet on the ice as best he can and he keeps his hips straight and he basically says “look, we’re all stuck here, you need to keep it together ‘til that clock counts down if you want us to live, but I’m giving you a choice,” and he presses the gun w the single bullet into Eric’s hands and tells him it’s up to him. nobody said Art had to care but he does, I think, and it’s just like. he really didn’t have to keep Eric alive over the course of Rigg’s test. he didn’t. but he did and I just,, where does it come from? why does he care? this is even going beyond the fact that we’ve talked abt them being together after their test in a scenario where they both survive - I just think that Art at his core is a very stubborn but very compassionate person, whether he wants 2 be or not. like he HAS to know that kind of involvement cld prove to be extremely detrimental but he cares. I feel like that says a lot abt him (even if he does call Eric an asshole a couple times while doing it,,).

plus I also just. I think his reason for being tested (as it seems to be in most cases) is extremely flimsy. he was doing his job. he’s a LAWYER. often times it has nothing 2 do w personal feelings; they’re there to do their job and sometimes, unfortunately, that is defending possibly reprehensible people (in cases like Rex’s & Ivan’s). + John was already upset w him regarding their argument abt the urban renewal group so like it just feels So Very Petty, y’know?? even in the scenario where he IS a disciple, testing him twice seems entirely like John having a personal vendetta against him. Amanda is the only other person to be tested twice aside from Eric, so like. what. is that abt Mr. Kramer.

like I’ve said b4 in dms one could argue that Art is grey morally, bc we never rly see anything of him outside of flashbacks + acting as a test controller in IV, esp given that he... rly doesn’t seem too bothered abt it all? which is fair. but I also feel like the concern he shows towards Eric is smth to be considered as well.

ohhh gosh Mallick,,, I spend a lot of time thinking abt him actually. he’s just one of those characters I feel vry connected to (me 🤝 Mallick: Ambiguous Disorder 💕) n one I got surprisingly attached to? hello (he IS one of my f/os)

I feel like Mallick is a very lonely person at his core. the way he sort of clings to Brit (w out the whole like. adrenaline of being in very very real danger w ppl trying to kill u SEVERAL TIMES) somewhat confirms this fr me. this is someone who has no reason to look out fr him, no reason to keep protecting him when their fellow captives hit him over th head w a club or attempt to push him into a bathtub to ELECTROCUTE him, but she keeps doing it and he’s just. in awe of it a little bit? ‘cause she could just let Charles knock him tf out or let Luba push him in but she fights for him, some1 she has no obligation to n met fr the first time literally when they woke up.

the moment they share b4 they stick their arms into the saws to activate the 10 Pints of Sacrifice is so very vulnerable and maybe even a little tender. yes he calls her a monster, yes she calls him one back, neither of them deny it. it’s an admission and an acceptance. they’re monsters, sure, fine, okay. but they are monsters and they are in this together. Brit tells Mallick it’s okay when he says he can’t do this alone. she says okay, okay, it’s okay, we’ll go together. and they help each other secure their tourniquets and they stick their hands in together bc it’s the two of them, literally hand in hand, fighting for their lives n for each other n they’re in so so much pain but they are doing it TOGETHER. I lose it thinking abt it!!! they even have a head bonk moment!!! I very much feel like it has some cinematic parallels to Adam & Lawrence’s moment in SAW 2004!!!!

+ as u mentioned, we both share the thought that Brit likely died since she wasn’t present at Bobby’s meetings, and. I want to touch on how fucking despondent and lost Mallick looks when we see him again in 3D. lights on but no one’s home. I feel like for Mallick, losing Brit was losing the first chance at a real connection he’s had in god knows how long - and for him, that’s just very shattering. he’s been thru hell, he’s watched three people die right in front of him, he sawed his ARM IN HALF, n the person he went through all of that with didn’t make it. but he did. and I feel like for Mallick that’s just like... he doesn’t understand it. but he feels even lonelier than he ever has b4 because the One Person who was there w him thru it all, the one person who could ever possibly understand what happened that night, is gone.

the Mallick we see in V would NEVER sit down n willingly listen to Bobby Dagen’s bullshit abt loving yr scars n taking pride in the fact u survived. he wld hate that man with a passion n I am very much sure of this. the fact that he’s sitting in that chair looking numb and glassy-eyed and silent? Mallick is trying to find some1 to connect to, find a place where maybe he belongs. trying to fill that hole that losing Brit made. why else wld he be sitting there, listening to someone he would ordinarily tell to shove his self-love bullshit up his ass? he’s lost. he’s just trying to keep his head above water and find a way to shore even though everything in him is fighting not to. he’s adrift without her.

+ ALTERNATIVELY, bc the reality of that is just. crushing n maybe not where I needed 2 go, in the scenario where Brit survived + just doesn’t want to put up w Bobby’s bullshit, I imagine them to actually move in together after a lil bit of time getting 2 know each other better w out the pressure of “oh god we’re gonna die.” she kinda helps him build up a sense of self-worth bc GOD it’s practically non-existent n thinking abt possible reasons why makes me sad. she’s definitely just like “no, you do deserve to be cared for and you deserve help when you need it, you deserve good things n to be happy.” she just kinds shuts it down while still making sure to talk 2 him abt WHY he feels that way (she’s not dismissing, but she’s trying to nip it in th bud) n Mallick is just like. huh. bc no one’s really done that fr him before. but it rly does end up helping in the long run, even if it is a very slow pace toward actually getting 2 a place where he recognizes his own worth + realizes he deserves all the things he wants Brit 2 have too. they’re there for each other thru thick n thin and if they made it thru their game, they can make it thru anything.

6: You have this switch you can throw where you can just act confident in dire situations. I know from what you tell me it feels awful on the inside but it’s still useful. I can’t do that unless I’m actually confident about something. Some of you also have excellent BS detectors & think of checking things that wouldn’t occur to me. ive learned so much from you guys im jully that your ideas are so much more practical on average

3: You somehow bring the joys of practical problem solving approach into the social/interpersonal realm & somehow solve things that I wouldn’t consider solveable. There’s something rly valuable to being ‘a positive realist’.

8: How are you so concise? You’re so good at saying things in a clear, impactful manner! (compared to us rambly head types at least)

It’s a somewhat rare type & I don’t know many people, so I don’t know anyone IRL in depht, but at least for the more self-aware examples, many that I’ve seen in internet videos etc. also strike me as pretty likeable, especially in that straightforwardness & the way they admit to their stuff and like... actually say things out loud that’s just instantly interesting. 

1: Some 1s are not chill, but the ones that are are very chill indeed. Very impressive. The cool & unique thing about your way of thinking is how you’re objective but positivistic (without an overly positive focus) - my way of thinking is more negativistic, I see holes, things that are not there etc. novel visions happen but it’s hard to synthethize them on purpose. You guys tho? You see what IS there & concrete visions for what can be done to fix stuff. 

Something that I find fascinating is how we’re both running optimization algorithms but yours is maximizing (looking for the most results for a fixed expense)  while mine is minimizing. (looking to get a fixed results with least uneccesary variables)

7: So many cool ideas! Actually way more competent & dilligent than ppl assume especially if older & wiser. Ppl underappreciate how much this is very much a mental type. Please, do keep talking interesting stuff to me im listening * big shiny owl eyes *

 Also have the advantage of usually having tons of other friends to have fun with when I don’t feel like extroverting right now so i dont feel so bad if i cant make it all the time.

Also you can be so likeable & funny & ppl really listen to you? Like I’ve noticed myself that sometimes I’d be all angry & worked up into some complicated idea about why I’m right and the other person is terrible,  and then this 9 dude who’d just been listening on the sidelines so far would say something super disarming that just cut through all my BS rationalisations, and soon after there was just no more argument & I really changed my actions long-term??

Over the years I had several 4 friends who were just, like, me but cooler, if I had the energy & comitment for this sort of consummate defiance against The Machine every day. One had picked up some old mannequins & made a decoration for her room out of it & that was such a power move? & she knew all these obscure art films... I wish I’d stayed in touch with them more.

obviously we all know of a ship in a fandom where the characters' personalities are twisted to fit the heteronormative view of "top" and "bottom" --one character is hypermasculine (top) and the other one is feminine (bottom). there are typical traits associated with both. the ‘top’ is scary or mean or angry or serious while the ‘bottom’ is emotional or bubbly or shy. while this is egregious, at least its fictional characters. their personalities can be simplified or exaggerated and it doesnt cause any real life harm.

im going to define what i think of as a fetishist: a non-mlm person who overly sexualizes gay men/men they think are gay/gay ships, and forces them into heteronormative roles for their own pleasure. its not even limited to cishet women. plenty of non-mlm lgbt people do this too and its like disheartening. so anyways

i may be incredibly biased here because one of the most affected members [of bts] is my favorite kpop boy, but oh god is the ‘personality change/simplification’ thing AWFUL here. i do not go out of my way to find fanart or see fanfic threads, but being in the bts fandom, u will inevitably see it and i REALLY wish i didnt

so anyways. my favorite boy ever is hoseok. he is sweet and hardworking and very passionate about dance and he can be serious when needed, but ultimately he tries to be very lighthearted and will consistently laugh or make jokes or do something funny when the other members feel uncomfortable or awkward (mostly during english-speaking interviews). he kisses the members on the cheek a lot/hugs them a lot/cuddles them a lot [this is important for later okay]

of course, theres a lot more to him because he is a multi-faceted real life human being, and i don’t know him personally, but that’s a general idea of what he’s like, okay?

SHIPPERS will have you think differently. some video got popular on youtube ""proving"" that hoseok is a sadist (which is just clips of him jokingly playfighting with the younger members), and the video depicts him as secretly mean and serious, and shippers will use that to say "hoseok is a total top!" and then most fanart or imagines or fanfic threads you see are top!hoseok, using this imagined 'hoseok is a sadistic dom' narrative to fuel their fiction, because SOMEONE has to be the top, so they twist him into this hypermasculine mean person (and probably feminize the 'bottom' of their ship but more on that later)

EXCEPT it is not just fiction. this narrative bleeds into REAL LIFE. you have new armys who dont know anything about the shipping scene, and yet somehow the narrative of hoseok being a secretly mean, sadistic person has already made its way into them. in real life, hoseok likes rainbows and wearing nail stickers and putting glitter in his hair. yet people in the fandom will say shit like "hoseok hates femininity" "hoseok would never wear [thing] because he's a dom"

I forgot to talk about it last night but I do like the mentioning of the whole Schlatt resurrection arc thing and the way it’s handled with these specific characters? Narratively you could have made Techno like ‘wait what no. don’t do that’ but in reality he WOULDN’T. It’s true that all everyone (w/ a couple exceptions) does is dictate what he’s supposed to do for them, or he gets manipulated into it, and I imagine that would be exhausting after awhile! And even IF resurrecting a dictator is, like, an objectively bad decision on Quacks’ part, it’s still his decision, isn’t it? Techno going off w/ Phil and not really siding with anyone else is a conscious decision on his part, and while it’s not like. Super explored in the fic I imagine Quackity has issues w/ his own level of control as well? Like, clearly he’s used to being bossed around for everything he does, and he wants Techno to be like Schlatt in the sense that he tells him exactly what he’s *supposed* to do, but the fact that Big Q is under the assumption that there’s an action he’s ‘supposed’ to take is flawed in the first place. This ramble got out of hand sorry I just LOVE how u portrayed this
