Law and Luffy - The two Kings

Law and Luffy have been portrayed as rivals, allies and linked in a pair. Luffy's importance in the story is great, and Law's is the one closest to his. The story has focused a lot on Law and has shown in many ways his importance and future development, linked with Luffy's. The fact that they made an alliance shows this. The battle they fought against Doflamingo could represent the battle they will fight against the government and really emphasized their duality and importance, also with their equal bounties. They’re both Ds, which also indicates that they’ll lead the war against the government. Also, Law wants to get revenge against the government for the Flevance incident.

Law's hat represents the moon and Luffy's hat the sun. The Ope Ope fruit's abilities resemble the moon and Nika is the Sun God. Law, Luffy and their fruits seem to be in a pair, like Yin-Yang. Their fruits are both very special because of the awakening they have. Binks' Sake's lyrics may refer to Law and Luffy as the moon and sun, the alliance that will change everything. Zou had two kings, of the day and the night, which is similar to sun and moon. Coincidentally, the two kings Law and Luffy visited Zou together.

Luffy is linked with Garp and Law with Sengoku. Like Roger and Newgate were kings of the pirates, Garp and Sengoku are kings of the marines; Law and Luffy are similar to them and are two kings. Newgate's tremor ability and Sengoku's shockwaves are similar, also to Law's abilities. Newgate had a very destructive ability capable of affecting the ocean like Law. Law is similar to Roger in the way he wants to find the history. Luffy's Nika ability is similar to Sengoku's Buddha ability, two zoan abilities that represent a positive deity; Sengoku has a bright and shining body like Nika is the Sun God, both can turn into giants. Roger, Newgate and Law are swordsmen; Garp, Sengoku and Luffy use punches and hand techniques. Newgate, Sengoku and Law are more calm and serious; Roger, Garp and Luffy are less.

The alliance between Law and Luffy will remain until the end and will change the One Piece world, like it already has. Both of them have the objective of doing so, of freeing the world. They're the two gods that will win in this battle.

I gotta say I'm obsessed with what Luffy does to the typical "sunshine" character trope, in that he's an exception to the usual portrayal but perhaps the most true to it of anyone. He's not "sunshine" as in pure niceness and sweetness and innocence. He's sunshine as in The Sun.

He's joy and light and warmth, illuminating all the beauty of the world, but he's also powerful enough to kill and blind and burn. He's an everyday annoyance. He's the strongest force of nature that exists. His happiness shines bright for miles. So does his rage. You could look at him wrong and be screwed up for life. You never want to live without him.

I can't get over this.
