One piece 1098
Oda.. What do you mean you've created a girl who escaped slavery then thrown her back to the hell and worse, for TWO years, being kidnapped right before the day that she eagerly looked forward to. This chapter is going to haunt me for days
Regardless of her small screentime, Ginny is not a nobody. She's essentially the mastermind of God Valley incident. She saved lives including Kuma's and never left his side - wishing to be his 'big sis' after Iva left. She had always been there to protect him. But thinking about it, Kuma couldn't reciprocate it the same way did he.
Ginny was Kuma's opposite - he'd hesitate, she'd jump into action. She knew she loved kuma and proposed him. She saw him being imprisoned and went to fight the King. She was bringing a balance to Kuma's life, which fell apart after she left. Ginny came to save Kuma time and time again, but in the two years of her kidnap, Kuma gave up on her.
"we raised hell to free you, Kumachi", opposing "I thought I'd never see you again." There's a clear difference between their mindsets.
Kuma became violent yes. But so far we haven't seen any hint that he teleported to Mariejeoise. There's already a record set by Fisher Tiger so it wasn't beyond the realm of possibilities, but Kuma was probably trapped by his trauma and abusive upbringing. He didn't think Ginny would be alive because his mother died.
But Ginny never gave up, she had remained firm with her convictions till the end. She loved a person and the child had genes of her abuser, but she carried the baby and gave birth to her, named her. Ginny was not a person who'd abandons someone.
She realized that sunlight would kill her, but she set sail alone and correctly navigated back to the church. Back to the home they once used to live in before they joined the revolutionaries. The place and its happy memories that probably never left her mind in the two years. The church is the place where she found her solace after her childhood slavery. She wanted her daughter to grow there, she wanted it to be her own grave.
What Ginny gave up on was Kuma's love. She knew he'd worry, she looked hideous and felt that she has no right to face him. "Don't you dare come here" - How prude of her to bloat about wanting to marry him, make him happy, to protect him - and then leave for two years and return with a baby? She knew he'd still love her, but she had no right to expect anything from him, for herself or her child.
"Tell the kind Kumachi, that I've always always loved him."
Kuma had always saved civilians from their miseries. She appreciated Kuma's benevolence.
But it doesn't make Ginny any less kind. For she had something Kuma lacked in his younger days. To fight tooth and nail for the ones that are important, and to never give up.
#man...#not slandering kuma though he's well fleshed out and he's developing bit by bit#we know by the end of the flashback he'd do everything to protect bonney so he's getting there#one piece#one piece 1098#one piece manga#one piece manga spoiler#one piece meta#op 1098#bartholomeo kuma#one piece ginny#1 am feels#mine#op meta

Nico Robin & The Light of Revolution
Warning: Spoilers for the Egghead Arc + Manga
One thing that has always interested me since watching One Piece for the first time is the epithet that the Revolutionary Army has given Robin— “The Light of Revolution”/“The Light of The Revolution”.
Obviously, the epithet makes sense for Robin. She’s been on the run from the World Government for over twenty-two years, for the crime of existing while being able to read the Poneglyphs. She is, in a sense, a symbol of what is wrong with the way the world currently works in One Piece. When people can be labeled as a criminal for no other reason than being able to read a specific language, something is broken and wrong.
And when we got to Egghead, we learned that not only did Dragon know Professor Clover, but he also visited Ohara to pay his respects, and Ohara was the triggering point for him in forming the Revolutionary Army. This knowledge answered some questions about the Revolutionary Army and their connection to Robin, but to me it also posed a question that is currently unanswered:
If Ohara was the triggering point for Dragon, then why does Bunny Joe say that they’ve only been looking for Robin for “over” ten years, and not twenty?
So far we haven’t seen anything to hint that they’ve been looking for Robin for longer, so why did it take Dragon so long to have the Army search for her?
This question has been bubbling around in my brain for a while, but a few weeks ago I was going through the Library of Ohara’s timeline in order to put together a more focused timeline for the Revolutionary Army to use as a reference for myself when writing. And while going through, I noticed something interesting that might actually explain why Robin was called the Light of Revolution when she did.
You see, the Rev Army only started calling Robin the Light of Revolution around roughly 12 years ago (Or more, but I think 12-14 years ago is the most likely range), and that was around two years after Ginny was kidnapped and enslaved by the Celestial Dragons.
I don’t think it’s an overstatement to say that Ginny was a very popular and important member of the Revolutionary Army. She joined at the same time as Kuma, one of the known founding members, and was very close to him. She was the Captain of their Eastern Forces. She was also very popular among the members of the Rev Army, with members even openly lamenting her affection towards Kuma and not them,
Her capture was probably both a pivotal moment for the Rev Army, and also a gut punch in terms of morale. It was known that Ginny had caught the eye of a Celestial Dragon, and it was (probably) one of the first times that one of their (the Rev Army) high ranking officers was captured. If someone so high up can get captured and enslaved, what about the rest of the army? And what does that line of thinking do to an army made up of former slaves and victims of the world’s nobles?
And most importantly, when such a thing happens, how do you inspire your army once more? What can you give them to distract them from those harsh realities and keep them focused on their goal?
It’s simple: You give them hope. You give them something to fight for.
I think that it was after Ginny’s capture that Dragon told the Revolutionary Army about Robin, and Ohara, and asked them to look for her. And I think she was given that epithet—The Light of Revolution— to give the army something to fight for. Something tangible that they can hold onto, and a goal that they can accomplish. “We might not have been able to save Ginny, but maybe we can save this girl” line of thinking.
As for why Dragon didn’t come right out and have that be a goal for the Rev Army from day one, well… I’ll admit I’m still mulling about trying to think of the answer to that. Although we’ve learned so much about Dragon in the Egghead arc, he still feels like an enigma to me. Could it have been out of respect for Ohara? Did he want to wait for the right time? I’m not entirely sure— but I welcome other people’s theories!

Am I the only who gets kinda triggered when Ginny, Bonney, and Kuma get portrayed as a happy loving family?
Not that I don't WANT them to be happy, but the problem I have is that it completely ignores the fact that Bonney is a RAPE BABY.
It reduces Ginny to just being a mother to Bonney, and wife to Kuma. WHile ignoring the fact that Bonney was FORCED UPON HER AGAINST HER WILL. No one wants to address the trauma that would have on Ginny because they don't want to acknowledge the grim reality of the situation in favor of they so-called "nothing-bad-happens-au". (Which is ironic, considering that Ginny HAS to be captured and RAPED in order for Bonney to exist at all)
RAPE IS NOT SOMETHING TO BE BRUSHED UNDER THE FUCKING RUG. IF YOU DO ANY AU WHERE GINNY SURVIVES YOU BETTER FUCKING ADDRESS, YOU SICK FUCKS!!
#the next person I see doing this is gonna get their face ripped off#NO WOMAN WHO HAS BEEN RAPED AND FORCED TO GIVE BIRTH HAS EVER HAD HAPPY FAMILY FROM IT#NO WOMAN IS GOING TO TRULY BE ABLE TO BE HAPPY AND MENTALLY SOUND PERSON AFTER GOING THROUGH THAT#IT DOESN'T FUCKING HAPPEN#THEY MAY TRY#BUT THE SCARS WILL FOREVER REMAIN#AND THEY WILL BE CONSTANTLY TIED TO THEIR RAPIST THROUGH THE CHILD THAT WAS CONCIVED FROM THEIR ABUSE#A CONSTANT REMINDER OF THEIR TRAUMA#FUCK YOU ODA#A FUCK ALL YOU FANS FOR IGNORING THE VERY REAL TRAUMA SOMETHING LIKE THIS CAUSES#GO TO HELL#one piece#rant#op ginny#one piece ginny#ginny one piece#ginny op#jewelry bonney#bartholomew kuma#tw sa#tw sa mention#one piece manga#vent#my stuff

Ginny's Captor
Ginny was captured by an unknown person.
And I think it was Sakazuki.
He captured Bonney and in a flashback he was shown from his legs the same as Ginny's captor. I think hinting he captured both. He fought Kuma and mused on his state of being which is notable.
Kuma showed up to Egghead surprising whole.
Sakazuki used Hellhound on Kuma's face.
Which took out a portion of Whitebeard's face while Kuma's face remained intact.
He attacked Kuma's foot and was not severed.
Which is odd since he took Kuzan's leg when they fought. I think Sakazuki let him go because he knows deep down the World Government is wrong for what they did to him.

Jinny The Wiretapper
So, she basically was the one who got things rolling with the God Valley incident. All of this because of her. Just imagine if someone found out it was her.

random thoughts #2
Now that the chance of seeing Law in manga prior to his birthday has evaporated I just wish he appears within October..
Another novel story is being adapted into anime! Rn I'm quite hopeful that Law's novel will receive some sort of adaptation 🫡 How about a manga spinoff drawn by Hori. Is it too much to ask
AYO FINALLY (x) I GET TO SEE THIS PANEL IN COLOR
Unrelated to Law but it seems Ginny and Kuma's story might make it to anime in December/January.. The next vivre card set will also have Ginny's profile oh I need that

With Ginny Oda remind me he is capable of writing realistic female struggles again because i truly forgotten that since Kuina. What happened? Where were you in a 1000 chapters? I will accept it anyway of course but it was shocking
