From the Edge of Darkness

The Abyss Order had been relentless in its attack on Natlan, leaving a trail of devastation in its wake. With the nation in ruins, every base became a battlefield, and the resistance fighters were pushed to their breaking point. The Traveler and Paimon, desperate to help in whatever way they could, had been moving from one war-torn base to another, always hoping to arrive in time to save someone—anyone—from the onslaught.

This upcoming base felt different, though. As they neared the next base, an eerie silence filled the air. No sounds of clashing weapons, no cries for help. Just silence.

Paimon’s voice quivered as she spoke, “Traveler… something feels wrong about this place.” The suffocating tension in the air made it hard to breathe.

When they finally reached the base, the scene that greeted them was nothing short of horrifying. Destruction had torn through the camp like a hurricane. Blood stained the ground, mingling with the ashes of burned tents and scattered debris. Bodies lay strewn across the battlefield, broken and still. Each life extinguished in a brutal fight to protect their homeland.

The Traveler moved quickly, scanning the area, their heart sinking with each step. Please, let there be someone left alive. They silently begged the universe, their steps quickening with each heartbeat.

And then they saw you.

Amidst the carnage, there you were—barely alive. Your body was crumpled against the remains of a wall, blood trickling from a wound on your side. Your skin was pale, your breath shallow. You were hanging on, but only just.

“There!” the Traveler gasped, rushing toward you. They dropped to their knees by your side, frantically checking your pulse, their hand trembling as they felt the faint, uneven beat beneath your skin. “She’s alive, but not for long!”

Paimon’s eyes widened in horror. “We need to get her out of here! Now!”

The Traveler didn’t hesitate. With great care, they lifted your fragile, unconscious body into their arms. They could feel how weak you were, how close you were to slipping away. Every second counted. “We’re taking her to the stadium!” the Traveler barked. “That’s where the medics are.”

Paimon nodded furiously, her tiny body flying ahead, guiding the way. “Hurry! We don’t have much time!”

The journey back to the stadium felt excruciatingly long, each second a battle against time. But the thought of losing you—of arriving too late—drove them forward.

The stadium came into view, its towering walls offering a brief sense of relief. Inside, it was the last haven for those who had survived the Abyss Order’s attacks. It was bustling with medics, warriors, and refugees, each one desperate to protect what little was left of their world.

The Traveler barely made it through the gates before shouting for help. “Medic! We need a medic!”

The closest group of medics rushed over, their eyes widening when they saw your condition. Without wasting a moment, they took you from the Traveler’s arms and laid you on a stretcher.

The Traveler stood back, their chest heaving with exertion, watching helplessly as the medics tried to save you. Paimon hovered close by, her hands clenched tightly in front of her. “Traveler… do you think she’s going to make it?”

The Traveler swallowed hard, unable to answer. “I don’t know, Paimon… I don’t know.”

Not long after, the stadium doors burst open, and Kinich, the man you loved, stormed in. His usually calm and stoic demeanor had crumbled, replaced by pure, unfiltered panic. His eyes scanned the crowd, searching desperately for you, the woman who meant more to him than anything in the world.

When he finally spotted the Traveler, his heart lurched. He saw the exhaustion in their eyes, the grim set of their jaw. He knew something was wrong. “Where is she?” he demanded, his voice shaking.

The Traveler’s expression softened with sorrow as they pointed toward the medic tent. “She’s there. It’s… not good, Kinich. I’m sorry.”

Kinich’s breath caught in his throat as he turned toward the tent. His heart pounded in his chest, each beat filled with dread as he rushed toward you. When he reached your side, his worst fears were confirmed. You were pale and still, your chest barely rising with each shallow breath. Bandages covered the wound on your side, but you looked so fragile, so close to death.

“No…” The word came out as a broken whisper. He fell to his knees beside you, his hands trembling as they reached for yours. He grasped your hand in his, holding it tightly, as though if he just held on hard enough, he could pull you back from the brink.

Tears filled his eyes, blurring his vision as he bowed his head over your hand. “Please,” he whispered, his voice cracking with emotion. “Please don’t leave me. I can’t—I can’t lose you.”

His body shook with the force of his grief, the tears falling freely now as he pressed your hand to his lips, praying for some miracle, some sign that you would wake up and tell him everything would be okay.

Hours passed, but Kinich never left your side. He couldn’t. The world outside the stadium continued to burn, but nothing mattered to him except you. He sat by your side, holding your hand, watching for any sign that you would wake. Every breath you took felt like a lifeline, fragile but present.

The medics came and went, their magic stabilizing your condition, but Kinich’s heart remained heavy with fear. He whispered to you the whole time, his words soft and broken. “I love you… please come back to me…”

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, you stirred.

Your eyes fluttered open, and the first thing you saw was Kinich’s tear-streaked face hovering above you, his hand tightly gripping yours. You blinked slowly, your body heavy with pain and exhaustion, but you were alive. You were still here.

“Kinich…” Your voice was a soft, rasping whisper, but it was enough to break through the haze of Kinich’s grief.

His eyes widened, a sob of relief escaping him as he surged forward, pulling you into his arms. His grip was tight, almost desperate, as though he feared that if he let go, you would disappear again. His body trembled with emotion as he held you, his face buried in your hair.

“You’re awake,” he breathed, his voice shaking with disbelief. “You’re really awake…”

You nodded weakly, your arms coming up to wrap around him, though the movement was slow and painful. “I’m okay,” you murmured, your voice soft but reassuring. “I’m going to be okay.”

He pulled back just enough to look into your eyes, his gaze filled with love and relief. “Don’t ever scare me like that again,” he whispered, his voice thick with emotion.

You smiled, though it was weak and tired. “I’ll try not to.”

For a long moment, neither of you spoke. Kinich simply held you, his heart finally beginning to calm as he felt the steady rise and fall of your chest against his. You were safe. You were alive.

And as long as you had each other, nothing else mattered.

“I love you,” he whispered again, his voice softer this time, but no less sincere.

“I love you too,” you replied, your words filled with warmth and gratitude.

The world outside was still in chaos, but in this moment, as you lay in Kinich’s arms, you knew that everything would be okay. You had survived, and you had each other. And that was enough.

No disrespect to Horikoshi. I genuinely feel like he was just tired and trying to wrap BNHA up. But the ending made no sense and made the entire series seem like it was for nothing.

Whether you love the League or hate them, you have to admit that killing all of them and imprisoning the remaining two is a shitty wrap to each of their stories. Like genuinely, they have actual backgrounds and real goals. I’m not saying he had to please the fans of every character, but killing them off with no resolution? All of them? And hero society didn’t become any less economy based and judgemental.

Between Magne, then Twice, why did they have to keep killing them off one by one? Those character deaths were sad, but the plot could at least carry on. An entire antagonist group was just wiped from the world.

Realistically, none of them are quiet. Especially not Dabi or Tomura. You KNOW that if they were given the chance within Tartarus walls, they would yap everyones ear off on how unfair the world was, and that no matter how hard they worked no change was made whatsoever. Plus, they’d have people there who’d listen to them. Endeavor, a character that I don’t particularly like at all, could finally *actually* atone for 20+ years of abuse. He has #1 hero money that could have kept him alive. Not to mention that Touya wasn’t supposed to live the first time around, but he did. Since Enji’s disabled now he could help Touya get his word out or something. Idk, anything is more than killing them all off.

And Tomura would have Midoriya at his side the entire time. You think Deku would throw him in prison and be done with him? No! He made a connection someone a lot like him, but was never given the chance to become anything else. I feel like the more Tomura would rant to him, the more Deku would want to help him. That was the whole point of not killing him sooner. He wasn’t *supposed* to die. The foreshadowing in previous seasons would have suggested there was more in store for him than death when Nana Shimura tested Deku.

You *know* Deku would’ve helped him, and eventually started a rehab facility or something. Deku’s whole deal is that he can empathize with almost anyone. And he *did*, so why couldn’t we pull more on that?

Like, they do quirk counseling for kids. Think about how many League members didn’t get that? Really think. Enji probably taught Touya himself. Tenko had *just* developed a quirk when he pretty much started his villain arc. if Toga had proper quirk counseling don’t you think they would have A) found out that her quirk would naturally give her a fascination with blood or B) given her alternatives for the natural bloodlust her quirk gave her? I know it’s not their quirks fault for their behavior, but it explains what lead them there. You know, the difference between a sociopath and a psychopath (*cough cough* AFO).

More on that, if a quirk rehab existed beforehand then Twice could’ve gone there after his accident. It would help him cope with being convinced he might be a double, hence saving him from the loneliness that the judgement of society left him in.

Like SPINNER. Society was judgemental over something he couldn’t even control (quirk + racism = quirkism?). All he wanted was a safe world for heteromorphs, leading him to the league. I don’t think he would specifically benefit from quirk rehab, but the point is that he very obviously wanted change for the better and he didnt even get that.

They aren’t saints whatsoever, but I feel like it should’ve been acknowledged that they *did* have goals. I could write a novel on this alone, but I feel like at some point you’ll get tired of hearing me yap 😅

Scarecrow: It was after he spent months with you on a regular basis. It was so slow that he didnt notice but then all at once when he noticed. Like you had the ability to distract him and he never even noticed. In that very moment he knew you had power over him. Something no one else had. Everything seemed to slow down. The room filled with people now just colours and shapes that didn't have any impact on him. Except for you across the room. You weren't doing anything special, simply talking to a stranger. Falling in love only reminded him how lonely he truly was. Denial then set in. No, he wasn't miserable. He was not lonely. That was impulse talking. It's the same scenario every time between them. Every. Single. Time. Kaiba could almost time it. He does think about timing it, but the thought gets shoved away because that feels like victory- and not his.  When they duel, the bickering starts and never stops. At least until one of them is defeated. Usually Wheeler. Saying that would get the blonde's annoying mouth running again. Kaiba was already forming a headache just from his constant jabs while they sat in the waiting room. They're older now, you'd think this would be over now.

“I was just outta practice, I could beat you anytime Kaiba”

“That was just beginners luck anyways- it's not like i've been playing everyday unlike you”

Or the thoughts of once and for all, shutting Wheeler up himself. Kaiba goes out of his way to be meaner to Joey than anyone he’s ever encountered. He’s not sure he’s ever spoken to someone so degradingly, no matter if that's what everyone expects from the foul-mouthed CEO. 

But something about Joey Wheeler is different. 

Despite the cold harsh words, he’s seen Wheeler react to them. Hates to mention in his mind that he may have obsessed over every quirk after every insult spilled. Noticed how the loud mouth's chest would hitch at dog comments. Sweat -dropping when Kaiba would tell him to get on his knees and beg. Could see the indecision for just a few seconds like he wanted to do it, like he-.

Knows how much he himself would enjoy putting the mutt in his place. 

“Why don't you make me, asshole?” Kaiba almost didn't catch his words.Too busy thinking about finally putting Wheeler in his place makes his words jarring to hear.  Not only were they across the room, but Wheeler had whispered them. As if he didnt want Kaiba to actually catch what he had said. 

“Fine.” Kaiba says without thinking. “They say old dogs dont learn new tricks, but I think you can make an exception right Wheeler?” He drags the last of the words out in a deep hum before he lifts up from the chair and toward the now shaking blonde. 

“Wait now hold on Kaiba- dude wait-” Joey head begins to search around the room as if looking for help and only just barely clenching his teeth in a curse when he realizes they are indeed alone. Holding both his hands out defensively as if that's going to save him from the wrath of the CEO. 

Does he even know that he’s being caged into a wall? Maybe he is a little stupid, but Kaiba has found that bit to be surprisingly endearing. Maybe stray dogs need extra care. A quick glance at his watch settles the matter that he- does in fact, have the time to train. . 

“I thought you wanted me to shut you up Wheeler. You asked for this. Now,” He brings up both his hands right next to the blonde's head, completely capturing him in. Leaning close enough to his ear, huffing a breath only to watch the other jump back and shake a little. 

Mmmm this might be time well spent after all.

“Are you able to be a good boy and shut that cute little mouth of yours?”  Kaiba is not in the habit of praising but no amount of money in the world could give him the rush of feeling as it did when Joey-( headstrong, back talking, bratty to a fault, )Wheeler drops his shoulders and whimpers.

Kaiba hummed, brushing his fingers along the edge of the man's jaw, smirking at another heated shiver that followed. “That all it took, Dog? After all that yapping and you show your belly before I can even properly punish you. You’re kind of a slut aren't you Wheeler? You’ve wanted this all along hm?”

Joey sputters at the full audacity of the CEO. He cant even fathom the words coming out of Kaibas mouth-

“Look ion know who you think you are but-” He’s blatantly interrupted when Kaiba tilts his chin and presses his lips to Joeys’, demanding entrance. 

The blonde isn't budging though, making sure his protests were heard throughout the muffling of his lips. He’s trying to push him off, ignoring the passing thought of how strong Kaiba is. How he can feel the muscle clenching and not budging as Joey pushes. The brunette wasn't giving up either, kicking Joey's legs apart to push his right thigh against Joey's (embarrassingly) already hardening length. Taking his empty hand on the wall and holding Joey's hips as he rocks him back and forth on his clothed thigh. 

Joey stuttered out a gasp, grappling his hands on broad shoulders as his hips are moved with force. one of the things that fascinates me the most about megumi is the way he places value on lives, and this line is just so cool to me. he’d said before this that he saves people unequally, but this shows just how far that goes. he’ll kill anywhere from 20-100 random people so tsumiki and itadori, the two people he cares about and thinks are worth saving more than anyone else, don’t have to get their hands dirty, and their lives hold more value to him than others. it’s also so interesting to me because of the way megumi doesn’t consider himself a good person like tsumiki or itadori, and therefore doesn’t really see himself as worth saving, so it’s just a necessary burden he has to carry as the “bad” person for those two. also add that in w this line, and im on the floor

2 - his battle vs sukuna at the detention facility/“i’m not a hero, i’m a jujutsu sorcerer”

another moment where we get an insight into his ideas on good/bad people and who deserves saving, can you tell i love this aspect of his character? i mean, he’s about to sacrifice himself for itadori to live (hopefully), even though he literally met the guy two weeks ago, because he thinks he’s a good person who deserves saving. it’s the first insight we get into megumi’s thought process, and this was really the moment that made me start paying attention to him more. i also love how he kept a softer expression on his face and didn’t cry until after itadori died, like he didnt want itadori to feel sad or guilty in his final moments im SICK also the fact that he took the name-tag to that guys mom even though he didnt have an interest in saving him, like he was paying a respect to itadori….ugh…anyway yeah i love dissecting the way he values life.

3 - “so start by saving me, itadori”

see as an itafushist of course this had to make the list like this whole chapter has me on the floor but anyway aside from that, i love thinking about this scene because the words he’s saying seem so contrary to how he thinks? like he’s asking to be saved but he doesn’t think he’s worth saving? so it needs an extra layer of consideration. i feel like he really said this more to motivate yuuji (and save tsumiki) than actually wanting to be saved himself. plus the “it’s our fault, don’t be selfish and give up all alone” aaahhahahsj i just love this moment i feel like it shows his character very well….when the idgafer actually very much gaf….

4 - his first domain expansion

hellooo this was so sick and cool and badass of him like i dont think there’s anything i need to say for this. huge character development moment for him too. add this with the simple domain he had in dagon’s domain + the part in the culling games arc where he literally hides himself in the shadows……he’s crazy powerful and i dont wanna hear anything abt it! if u were traumatized like that you’d be curled up on the floor too

5 - “if you die, i’ll kill you” both times

again as an itafushist i couldnt not include this….of course there’s implications for megumi’s character as well but i feel like there’s only so much i can talk about his moral code in one post yk? but yeah i think it just shows how much the people he cares about matter to him

also bonus i love just any culling games megumi, his determination to save tsumiki and make it so itadori doesnt have to kill anyone makes him grow so much as a character and as a sorcerer, i love it sm

Hello hello here's a lil rant about SJMs writing of Rhys and it driving me crazy :) (CC3 spoilers, ACOTAR spoilers, minor TOG spoilers)

I agree with your post that questions whether or not SJM was being purposeful when she created the dynamics of the IC and their allies. I personally think in order to determine if SJM is doing this purposefully its important to take all her books into account (especially with the crossover in CC3 😭 And because SJM's only finished series currently is TOG, most of my comparisons will involve that series)

I suspect that the IC's emotional journeys are still very far from over. Especially Rhys and Feyre since they have been arguing off page (which is understandable given it wasnt their POVs) and SJM purposefully included Ember Quinlan defending Nesta in the bonus chapter. Now each of these characters have VERY strong personalities, but Ember in particular comparing rhys to someone who abused her is EXTREMELY important for us as readers to note for future books. And i really hope that its because SJM is finally gonna let him be held accountable for being an ass towards his mate's sister and for meddling so much in their relationship.

Rhysand in particular out of all of the IC has probably the most potential for a good redemption arc. Hes traumatized by his families deaths and UTM in canon and it would be safe to assume his childhood in Windhaven wasn't exactly pleasant. So giving us the Archeron POVs to unpack these centuries old characters is bound to get messy due to their own lack of experience, (but it makes for good fan interaction, i see you sjm).

Rhys definitely has better intentions than the Highlords before him did, but he still has some iffy behavior that stems from needing to have control over his surroundings likely due to traumatic events where he felt powerless to save those he cares for. But that doesn't excuse the fact that he has (accidentally) hurt more people while trying to keep control. He withheld life saving info from his mate bc he didnt want her to worry, he threatened and chased Nesta from the city because she shared the info he was hiding, he stole the book from Tarquin despite the fact that he likely would have helped rhys anyway, he locked his IC in Velaris to protect them (when Amren could've solo'd anyone in UTM 🤫). All of which to me sounds like could be control issues.

Now for who I think is the closest character we have to really compare to Rhys, the MC of TOG also struggled with control issues throughout the series. And her own trauma also mirrors Rhys' to an extent, especially her family life and the fact she was also stuck without fresh air while she was in Endovier. She made bad choices throughout her story, ones that affected the people she loved directly. But when her arc concluded, she was able to make healthier decisions for herself and loved ones despite that.

If SJM truly loves rhys as much as she claims, I don't think she wouldn't give him an opportunity to heal like the one she gave to Aelin. Especially after she hinted in CC3 that things are NOT always all fine and dandy in Feysand's relationship, Feyre herself said she was furious with the IC in acosf, and the two of them have yet to discuss how Rhys' actions utm affected her.

Realistically, I don't the highest hopes for Rhys' character arc unfortunately, but a girl can dream of a better ACOTAR 😂 I wanna believe that it'll be a great series when it concludes but im hesitant in putting my faith into SJM tbh 😔 Anyway, I hope you have a wonderful rest of ur day/ night and im so excited to hear your thoughts!

I can kind of see similarities between Rhysand and Aelin, but at the same time, I don't.

Aelin, for all her faults and mistakes, had at least tried to do the right thing, no matter how misguided it was. She was selfish and reckless and ended up hurting people close to her, but she owned up to it. She was also young. She was, what like 19-20? Not an excuse, but a factor.

Rhysand, on the other hand... God, where do I even start?

It's weird because ACOTAR is so different from TOG in terms of writing, and I'm just talking about first person/third person POVs.

I honestly believe that SJM tried to make the series black and white. Tamlin Bad, Rhysand good. Eris bad, Mor good. Nesta bad, Feyre good... and accidentally ended up with a controversial mess.

I mean good for her. Publicity is publicity no matter if it's positive or negative (here we are talking about it), but yeah.

Rhysand was supposed to be this morally grey character, but she ended up making him a self praising, self-proclaimed king of feminism, most powerful High Lord with nothing to back it up.

○ He gives Feyre 'choices' only when the outcome is in his favor.

○ He claims he's all for women's freedom to choose whatever they want... yet he lets those Illyrian camps keep women as glorified slaves and praises the leaders for giving them 2 hours of training.

○ He's 'the most powerful High Lord' yet he can't control the HC, and the camp leaders barely respond to him.

○ He, Feyre, and the IC feel entitled to information that affects the whole of Prythian... for what I don't know.

○ I'm not even going to get into the acts he commits against his 'family' bc I would be here for a while.

○ He encouraged his mate to take her petty revenge on Tamlin, destroying his entire court in the process, innocent lives and homes, not to mention making Prythian more vulnerable to Hybern.

○ He got mad at Nesta for giving the mask to Bryce... isn't that what he did with the book? Except he stole it and destroyed Summer Court property while Nesta controls the mask.

You're right about his control issues, though, as was seen with Nesta every time she didn't listen to him. I can see how that would relate to the lack of control he felt UTM, but...

Did 50 years UTM getting SA affect him? Obviously. I don't disregard the trauma he went through, but I also don't turn a blind eye to the things he did UTM.

He assaulted his mate with no excuse. He could've easily left her in that cell instead of making her wear a napkin and get drunk against her will. Amarantha didn't even care when he paraded her around and only got mad when she saw them kissing.

The children of the Winter Court that were killed, I don't know why it was brushed off with no consequences because who else would have done it? Daematis are extremely rare, and somehow, there was another one powerful trapped under the mountain, but he doesn't know who? Another Daemati who was working for Amarantha and didn't call out Rhysand on the Claire Beddor lie?

God, this turned into a rant, I know, and I'm sorry, lol.

I personally don't see a redemption arc satisfying enough happening or at all really. I read somewhere that Rhysand was created after SJM's husband Josh... yk where I'm going with this.

It is really interesting to me, and by interesting i mean so scary and baffling, to see how Dream's cultivated a fanbase.

To his fans, he is loyal to people that "dont care about him", he is "endlessly kind even though some people dont deserve it/arent receptive to it/are people who hate him", he is "helpless and doesnt know what he's doing", he is someone who "makes honest mistakes", is "mature in the way he handles controversy/situations". Dream has cultivated a persona of being loving, kind, loyal, mature and rational, but also equally helpless and in need of saving from a large fanbase. A lot of it stems from him being a white man, but it also stems from the way he's cultivated a fanbase within the power he has in parasocialism.

It is this that allows him to subvert controversy. Dream says or does something racist? It's "he already apologized so its okay", it's "he didnt know what he was saying", it's "ya'll are too sensitive", it's "all people do is want to victimize dream who is loving/kind/loyal/etc." Dream has grooming allegations against him and he admits to the messages being true and real and thus admits to flirting with minors and it's "dream is the victim". His twitlonger is on priv and it's considered "mature and rational". His initial horribly response is ignored because "of course dream would be upset :(! he just is so in need of our help and defense". And then there's the situations of doxxing that people bring up that dream has experienced things that are unjustifiable, but only as a matter of deflecting dream from ever being able to cause harm never as a point of empathy and importance in discussing that as an issue in itself.

It just really reminds me of many other cc's fanbases who continue to have a cc with issue after issue, cause harm after harm. It never matters. The consequences are ignored because those who allow the cc to get away with these things, dont think it affects them. And they dont care who it effects.

And that's the danger of it. To view someone in a position of power who can do real harm and has done real harm as infallible and incapable of anything harmful either due to viewing his heart as perfectly pure and kind or viewing him as helpless compared to everyone else, or to view anyone who critiques the cc as just blindly hating him stuck in an echo chamber of "he can do no wrong" is dangerous. it's dangerous for marginalized fans and fans who are victim to dream's harm or similar situations of harm because you are actively justifying and causing more harm in a cc's name who doesnt really gaf about you. To throw away all morals, ethics, beliefs, all for the sake of destroying people around you for one person. It's just i'm terrified for you too.

ik i already posted abt this but i wanna elab more.

so yall know how in itsv miles throws a bagel at j. ohn, and he becomes the spot, right? and in a deleted scene olivia says "the power of the multiverse in the palm of my hand" in ref to doc oc in spoderman 2. and guess who says that line in spiderverse 2? spot! why am i bringing this up? im using it as an example of the bonkers foreshadowing in spiderverse. Things often go from cameos and gags to something BIG. Like how miguel ended up being the secondary antagonist in spoderverse. He went from popping up at the end in a gag cameo scene, to being the antagonist of the second half of the second act and the entirety of the third act. My point is little things matter here.

That brings me to my next point. Now, I love the B Team, and I jus want to see more of them in the next one so this may be a little biased.

In ATSV, at the start of the third act when Miguel is explaining canon events to Miles, Peni pops up, and is given a single line. Now, most people dont/didnt think of this as more than a cameo. But I am not most people mon frer. They could've done this with anyone else, literally anyone else from the B Team, or just a random Spider-person. They couldve easily replaced her scene with the crowd of Spider People looking at him disappointed. But they didnt. They draw attention to her, they have miles EXPLICITLY Notice Her and even say her name. They show off her new mech and let the cam linger on her face more.

And then, in the third act, when Miles is running through Earth 42's nyc, we see in the reflection of a building he runs past, specifically, Noir, Ham and Peni. Specifically them, even thought they arent plot relevant. You even hear Porker saying "You cant save everyone,", his line from the first film. My question is. Why. Them. The producers couldve easily shown Gwen, Peter, and Miguel, or hell, His Mom, Dad and Uncle Aaron, hell maybe kingpin and doc oc and the spot! They couldve easily replaced Hams line with Uncle Aarons Keep Going line, or Peters Leap Of Faith line that im p sure shows up idk my memories fuzzy, But no. It was specifically *those three. * and That One Line.

And then at the end, when we see Gwens Spider-gang, we see Peni in her crossed arms pose behind Hobie, and Noir / Ham right behind Gwen in front of Margo. And in that very scene, just seconds before, we see Peni, and we see her smirking back at the camera from the corner of her eye. Now why did they specifically decide to give Peni this knowing look? It would've made sense for Hobie, as hes the one who helped Miles get free from Miguels cage, but why Peni. Last time we saw her she looked depressed, she looked tired.

Now, here is the crux of my theory. I believe, that just like in ITSV, BTSV is gonna come full circle, and make the B-Team extremely plot relevant. I feel like the producers are dropping little breadcrumbs relating to the plot, but not making it so obvious we immediately catch on. Much like The Spot and The Bagel Incident and Miguel and Miles' Spider and the constant showings-up of the number 42.

In ITSV, Peni is literally the one that gets them all to their home dimensions, she is the one that made the new goober, and got them all home. So I feel like she will play a big role in defeating The Spot. And, vis-a-vis, Ham and Noir (along with Peni and SP//dr's dismembered arm), play a part in defeating Scorpion and Tombstone, and while they werent extremely important to the Plot, they where part of the Sinister 6, and they where the antagonists of ITSV after all. Next to King Pin, that is. All three of them also took out the alchemax employees (Gwen got sidetracked seeing Miles come back tho), and since Miguel is more a man of hand-to-hand and melee combat unlike spot and his portal fuckery, I feel as though they will be pretty instrumental to defeating Miguel, and maybe, his Migbot (cuz of the concept art that got leaked recently).

Random but i saw someone that ships Kaw*Sum* say that MitsuSara and KawaSara don't have any "healthy interactions" LMFAOOOOO. And that Kaw*Sum* and BoruSumi both have the ultimate "goal" to protect Sumire's character😂. Istg that was that was the most ridiculous thing i've ever read, they want to protect her character and a healthy ship for her but they ship her with...Kawaki? (No hate to him, he's my precious muffin). I also think i saw them talking about "development, deep conversations ecc..." and i was like "are those things in the room with us🥴?".

MitsuSara by far has the healthiest interactions out of everyone, including BoruSara despite how they try to argue their the healthiest ship, they are very much NOT lol

Mitsuki and Sarada have mutual respect for one another, they dont really argue and arent petty, Mitsuki is willing to listen to and be there for Sarada even when Boruto isnt (example the ninja tech mission) and will go so far as to blackmail Boruto into coming with them so she'll be better protected (threatening to let Sarada take the mission alone to guilt Boruto into coming with them) AND to make matters worse he's actually the one who even remembered the promise Boruto made to her and literally reminded him of it and guilt tripped him about it because it was true, he made that big grand declaration to be her right hand man and protect her but the first mission he doesnt like he's just "You go ahead Mitsuki but I refuse" like...its not about you, this is only a few chapters after he made the promise and he already forgot he's supposed to be her protector lol but Mitsuki didnt.

Mitsuki was also the one who first believed in her abilities enough to lead them where once again, Boruto did not, even Kawaki had faith in her abilities and knew their chances of winning were higher under her leadership.

Mitsuki and Sarada are always shown having eachothers back, there were so many times Sarada was gonna be reckless or in danger and Mitsuki snatched her out of there or stopped her, and she has protected him numerous times as well, the list goes on really but the point is they have a very healthy relationship, as healthy as InoShikaChos just minus the growing up together part.

As for KawaSara they also had plenty of healthy interactions, literally in 28 we see Sarada soften up to Kawaki and promise to be there for him whenever hes troubled, then later we see them training together, then we see them working together trying to find clues about karma and her offering to ask her mother about it, then we see Sarada literally running to his rescue despite knowing what danger shes up against, then we see Kawaki break down to her over Naruto's loss and her open up to him about something she never did even to her own best friend and reassuring him of who Naruto is, they then work together to defeat Boro and rescue Naruto with Kawaki PERSONALLY relying on Sarada to find the core while he (and the others) took the beating to buy time for her to do so, then when Boro attacks Mitsuki and is about to attack Sarada (and Boruto) he protects her, then when he gets knocked away Sarada tries to protect HIM, she also saved him from Boro's virus earlier when he and Boruto were immobilized by it.

They've had plenty of healthy interactions, ppl just pretend otherwise because they wanna paint the narrative that only BoruSara (and sometimes KawaSumi) have a healthy/healthiest relationship when they dont.

So getting to KawaSumi, the ship, and its shippers for that matter, is pure delusion atp, and I hate to sound like bsa fans but ppl who try to force this pairing do not care about Sumire's feelings, because unlike Sarada, Sumire IS canonically inlove for Boruto, so disregarding her feelings as 'just a crush' and 'not real love the way Sarada's is' and my favorite 'she'll move on' when why does she need to? not like Boruto has confessed his feelings for anyone, not like theres any confirmation of who he likes yet so why she gotta move on?

Even if for arguments sake Sarada DID also like Boruto, why does Sumire have to give up her feelings because of Sarada? she doesnt OWN Boruto, hes not her possession, hes not an item she called dibs on and Sumire gotta step back, no, Boruto as of now likes nobody, so why does Sumire need to move on and accept Sarada 'likes' him if Boruto himself hasnt made a decision yet? HIS feelings are the only ones that matter in this situation because HES the one who has to reciprocate, if Sarada liked Boruto but Boruto chose Sumire, does she have to reject that because Sarada liked him first? because thats the logic here.

Sumire needs to 'move on' because Sarada called dibs and Boruto definitely will (or as they insist already) reciprocate, so Sumire needs to move on and accept she lost...even though she hasnt, their not even dating, nor has either admitted having any feelings towards eachother, yet they want Sumire to back off despite her not having any reason to.

Again, if Sarada likes him, Sumire doesnt have to back off because of that, Boruto is not her property to claim as belonging to her when he hasnt even reciprocated her feelings yet, let alone knows she even has them.

Until Boruto himself makes a decision, Sumire doesnt have to move on or accept anything, the only time she does is when and if Boruto and Sarada's feelings are mutual, that is the ONLY time she should let go cuz she got no choice then. But even then she doesnt have to move on if she doesnt want to, Tsunade didnt, Karin didnt, so Sumire doesnt have to either, she can just move forward with her life while still loving Boruto but accepting his relationship.

The only reason ppl want Sumire to 'move on' is because it makes them feel more secure, if she stayed single and still inlove with Boruto they fear another Karin situation, ya know all the cheating etc conspiracies, but if shes with another guy they know their safe from all that, bonus points if their kids look nothing like Sarada then they'd really catch hell with the 'real mother' allegations as well lol

This is the kicker right here because it shows just how MUCH they dont care about her character, nor understand her in general. Sumire does no more for Kawaki than she would if she were caretaking anybody else because thats just who Sumire is, she wants to help ppl, Boruto inspired her to be the person she wants to be, and she made up her mind that she wanted to be someone who supports the village through science, which we see her using all types of medical science that'll help alot of shinobi.

Yet they act as if her kindness and caring for Kawaki is some special case when its not, anyone in Kawaki's position she would do the exact same thing, if she saw Amado being sus with them, she would go out of her way to spy on him the exact same way, why? because she cares for ppl, why would she spy on Amado? because she feels he may be a threat to the village which we've already established her goal is to support, so nothing shes doing now would change if you put another character in Kawaki's spot, thats your first hint that these interactions arent anything special to run with.

The second hint is the fact that Kawaki picked up that she liked Boruto and she admitted it to his face, killing any interest he may have developed for her if he thought there was nobody she was interested in (Not saying this actually would've happened, just sayin if the possibility were there its gone with her already liking someone, so the thought of pursuing her would never even come up) but what makes it worse is that Kawaki doesnt even care, to him, in his own words, she is just doing her job as Katasuke's assistant, he doesnt care who she likes as long as she still does her job.

That right there tells you how he thinks of her, even though Sumire has care for him, Kawaki has zero for her, is he grateful for her help? yes, but does he personally care about her beyond that? no. To him, again in his own words, she is just Katasuke's assistant, this is what he literally refers to her as, then he further makes clear that they only have a patient/caretaker relationship when he says he doesnt care about her feelings as long as she does her job.

He doesnt see anything Sumire is doing as anything more than her doing her job because that essentially IS all shes doing, is she genuinely concerned about his wellbeing? yes, but again she would feel no different if there were anyone else in his position because thats just who Sumire IS.

Quick example, If Sasuke and Sakura were strapped to a bomb unable to escape in one area, and a whole village of innocent ppl in another area, and only Naruto was around to save them, who do you think he'd go save and who would he let die? if your answer is he'd save both or die trying, then congrats, you understand Naruto's character.

That's essentially who Sumire is, it doesnt matter what unfortunate person needs taken care of in this situation, Sumire would go out of her way for them because thats just who she IS. Kawaki is not special to her, nor is she special to Kawaki, they are at the very least aquaintances who were on good terms until he turned against Boruto, thats it.

You can argue they were 'healthy' if you wanna go purely by the manga because they didnt have many negative interactions, but thats not exactly a high bar to clear when the ppl in question are just aquaitences, a caretaker caring for her patient and said patient getting up and leavin when shes done.

You never seen them interact or talk one on one outside of the lab, even when meeting to discuss the cohabitation plan, they werent talking to eachother and were just going over what the mission entailed, then when Ada called her there they STILL dont interact or even speak because, as I've made more than clear by this point, they HAVE no personal relationship outside of patient/caretaker.

Even when everyone is hunting Kawaki down we never see her worried or care, but we saw Ada, and we saw Sarada, and then when the whole omnipotence situation goes down she only thinks about Boruto and wanting to help him, at no point in this entire chaos does she ever express any concern or sympathy for Kawaki.

Why? because HE'S not special to her, Boruto is, and even though she understood why he did it and let it slide the first time since Naruto vouched for him, shes not letting it slide a second time even with Shikamaru telling them his reasoning for doing so, Sumire prioritized Boruto's wellbeing over Kawaki's because thats who she cares about, thats who is special to her, who she has a personal deep connection with, thats who she loves, thats who saved her and gave her a second chance at life, and thats who she wants to protect.

Im not saying she doesnt care about Kawaki at all, but she has no personal attachment to him to put him above or on the same level of Boruto. When push came to shove we saw who was really special to Sumire and who wasnt, and it wasnt Kawaki, it was Boruto, and it has remained that way for 3 years ever since Kawaki's second attempt on his life.

The only person Kawaki has on his side right now thats not brainwashed is Ada, nuff said right there.

'Development' means change in a relationship, it means progression be it positive or negative, nothing has changed with them tho, even with omnipotence theres really no difference between then and now because there was never much between them from the get go, the only change is her working with Sarada to try and undo the brainwashing, thats not really a change in their relationship tho so yeah, zero development fr fr.

Deep conversations? Im assuming they are referring to the anime which completely contradicts the manga which thankfully disregarded the anime changes altogether so I will as well, but even if I include it, then I have to burst the bubble once again and say it wasnt a deep conversation, because Sumire did all the talking, she did all the assuming, Kawaki never reciprocated and kept dodging talking to her altogether, telling her to back off, to mind her business, that she doesnt know him, and even asking why shes telling him all this in the first place (he literally did not ask for her sob story yet she gave her whole life story to him because she assumed they were alike and he'd relate)

This so called 'deep conversation' was so one sided its actually sad, Sumire put in all the effort but Kawaki engaged with none of it and just kept tryin to get her to leave him alone and stop acting like she knows him, which she herself admits she didnt, yet she made all these baseless assumptions about him based on 2 lines he said, the one about her (or nue, its unclear) being a monster just like him (which makes no sense in context cuz what does her having Nue as a pet have to do with him being a monster when he has no such pet of his own? even if its about her having the power to control it, that also doesnt fly because he literally sees her being unable to control it against him, it was just weird and forced to make Sumire sympathize with him in the most unnatural way)

And 2 him saying he doesnt trust ppl, which could be for a variety of different reasons, it doesnt automatically make his story like hers yet she assumes it was and kept trying to relate to him when they literally have nothing in common with their backgrounds other than being vessels and I guess you can argue abusive fathers, but even thats a stretch when compared to Kawaki's, they were very clearly two different types of abuse.

How do I know? because Sumire said it herself that she loved her dad and WANTED to carry out his will, Kawaki feared his dad, both of them, and was ruthlessly beaten by them either for just existing (his biological dad) or cruel 'training' and 'torture' to be a perfect vessel for him (Isshiki). The abuse Sumire received was just brutal training, her father was very hard on her and pushed her to her limit until she was ready to be branded with the Gozu Tennou and carry out his will which was also partially hers too as by that point she also wanted revenge on the village for her mothers death and her awful upbringing due to their mistreatment for their connection to Danzo.

Does any of that sound remotely like Kawaki could relate to? a kid abused by his biological dad for shits and giggles? literally sold off to a complete stranger for money for booze? an adoptive alien dad who brutally beat him everyday, forced karma on him, and then forcefully had his body modified with ninja tech? do you think Sumire can even remotely relate to that? no, so her so called 'deep conversation' with Kawaki just falls on deaf ears because nothing shes saying relates to him at all, its like when Naruto said he understood Sasuke and Sasuke snapped at him saying he had nothing from the start so how can he understand what its like to have everything and then lose it? that's Sumire.

Only difference is Naruto owned up to his insensitivity and acknowledged that he really didnt understand Sasuke and no wonder he didnt listen to him, Naruto made the effort to try and understand Sasuke's pain, to find out whats going on in his head, why hes acting the way he is, after Sumire gets all that push back from Kawaki she never makes any attempt to try and get to know him personally from there, nor does she ever acknowledge that she was totally wrong in assuming they were alike when they werent, instead she still insists that she is 'just like him' even after he had just got finished telling her off that she didnt know him and she herself admitted she didnt yet she still says she is just like him and completely disregards what he said.

A sad look in someones eyes does not equate to being like Sumire, lots of ppl are sad, lots of ppl have suffered, is everyone who has sad eyes just like Sumire? no, Sarada had sad eyes from missing her dad all those years, did Sumire ever think they were alike? no, you cannot make the argument that she saw something different in Kawaki when she did not know a single thing about him, when Kawaki wasnt letting her in at all, not everybody closed off is like Sumire either, she is just making assumptions based on the most shallow reasoning.

Nother quick example, why did Naruto relate to Gaara and Sasuke so genuinely? because Sasuke and him were both orphans, because Gaara and him were both jinchuriki.

You know the difference with Sumire? she doesnt KNOW anything about Kawaki to make a connection, she doesnt know their both vessels, she doesnt know they both had abusive fathers, so her relating to him rings hollow because Honda stupidly tried to make them connect without the necessary information FOR them to because if he DID it would contradict the manga far too much because thats information Naruto, Boruto, Sarada, and Mitsuki learn first. So instead, they make Sumire tip toe around the topic by just offering up her sob story unprovoked because obviously theres where Kawaki's biggest issue lies (daddy issues) but again she lacks the necessary information to make the connection, so it falls on deaf ears because what does her dad wanting to use her to get revenge on Konoha have to do with him? it was a stupid anime only addition that added nothing, remove it and nothing changes because their relationship isnt affected one way or the other from that entire exchange.

She learns more about him as time goes on since shes involved with the plot now but we never see any reflection from her, keep in mind the anime is what made this up so they had plenty opportunity to show Sumire reflecting on her words to him and acknowledging that she really didnt understand him after all but they didnt, why? because they realized they screwed up when the manga showed their relationship wasnt becoming any deeper, my guess is they assumed by her becoming his caretaker they were setting them up to become closer and bond but when they saw the manga hammer in her feelings for Boruto even to Kawaki they backtracked everything they did in the anime and just pretended it never happened (hence why you didnt see anymore anime only interactions between them)

As for why they removed Sumire's feelings for Boruto twice and only hinted at them I have no idea, but the manga has made it very clear and straightforward that she is inlove with him and the anime will have to acknowledge it, even if they dont, that doesnt make it any less canon just because the studio wants to downplay her feelings for whatever reason, the manga is the source material and the only one that matters frfr, so if the manga says Sumire definitively likes Boruto, then thats whats canon, period.

Anyway as for Kawaki asking why shes called class rep which I assume is another deep conversation their referring to, that more comes from not Kawaki having some great desire to know more about her, but we can tell from Kawakis background that he most likely never went to school and isnt familiar with what the term 'class rep' means as he's never experienced it, so he's curious why shes called that all the time instead of by name. If Kawaki was trying to genuinely get to know her personally then he would've asked more than that, but as soon as she stopped explaining the origin of class rep, he just asked her to give him the painkillers he rejected before and that was the end of it.

Now I'll be fair and admit the chapter where their talking about him having killed Boruto can be classified somewhat as a 'deep covetion' because its the only one thats actually 'deep' and reciprocated without one just talking to the other. Sumire tries to be understanding of what he did and Kawaki then opens up about how he feels about needing karma which Sumire then tells him of her suspicion of that being what Amado wants.

So ok fine, I'll give them that, but where did they go from there? nowhere, it amounted to nothing because in the end altho Sumire 'understood' he must've had good reason, she was shown still being very unnerved and suspicious around him, she didnt truly 'understand' and 'accept' what he had done, more like she was in denial trying to convince herself until she saw Kawaki being hostile towards Boruto again and starts getting ptsd flashbacks.

The so called 'deep conversation' wasnt that deep, because ultimately she didnt actually understand him, and he didnt really open up to her expecting any support or understanding, he was just venting, but Im sure if Sumire offered it might've helped steer him away from the edge but she didnt, instead she just repeated Naruto's words because truthfully she was uncomfortable, but she tried to lie to herself that she understood and that everything was fine when it wasnt.

Know who else did that? Naruto, he too tried to pretend that he understood Kawaki, that he didnt hate him for killing his son, that he was still on his side even after what he did. Obviously we know Naruto is not a hateful person and is very forgiving, but he was clearly in denial about his real feelings on the matter and Shikamaru even points it out which makes Naruto snap because he doesnt want to admit the truth. YES he is angry at Kawaki for killing his son, what parent wouldnt be? and YES he does understand why Kawaki did it, and he is still on his side, but is Naruto more unnerved by him now? yes, is Naruto more skeptical of him now? yes, does Naruto trust him less now? yes, is Naruto less protective of him now than he was before? yes, and does Naruto prioritize Boruto more now over Kawaki? yes.

That doesnt mean Naruto hates him, that doesnt mean Naruto doesnt see him as his son anymore, that doesnt mean Naruto doesnt care about him, no, what it DOES mean is that Naruto's perception of him has changed, he no longer feels comfortable around him, hes nervous, he doesnt know what he might do, but hes also in denial so he tries to force himself to think that everything is fine when deep down he knows it isnt. He loves Kawaki and wants to be there for him, but Naruto isnt stupid and knows that hes on the edge right now and could be pushed over it any moment which is why he went along with the cohabitation plan thinking that would keep things from escalating anytime soon, which unfortunately isnt how things played out and his worst fears came to pass.

Sumire is like Naruto, she doesnt want to admit to herself that shes uncomfortable, that Kawaki is unstable, she doesnt want to admit theres a problem when there is, so she goes into full denial mode and acts like she gets it and that everythings fine since Boruto is alive when deep down she knows it isnt, but just like Naruto, she refuses to acknowledge this, because like Naruto, she doesnt want it to seem like shes turning on him during this vulnerable time as that could risk pushing him over the edge as well.

Again this is not me saying they didnt care about him, of course they did, but just because they cared about him doesnt mean they'd disregard what he did, especially when he doesnt express any regret or remorse (because he genuinely feels that he did what needed to be done) makes them all the more unnerved by him. (Obviously we the audience knows he feels remorse, but Naruto and Sumire did not have the same insight)

Bottom line is the one manga canon deep conversation they had wasnt that deep, nothing was gained from it, Kawaki was just venting and Sumire was in pure denial, so even me being fair, I cant give it more credit than its due.

So anyway moral of the story is, KawaSumi is a joke and the very definition of a crackship, they have interactions but they are few and far between, and said interactions often amount to nothing, her spying on Amado out of concern amounted to nothing, her being his caretaker amounted to nothing (they didnt get closer because of it and Katasuke and Amado did majority of the work while she only gave needles) everything about them together amounted to nothing, so it still falls into the category of a crackship for the fact that 1 Sumire already canonically likes someone else and 2 they have zero development and have remained no more than patient/caretaker.

I could list all the development and progression KawaSara has had but this post is long enough already so I'll leave it at that. All I'll say is they went from misunderstanding, to hostility, to understanding and reaching out, to envy, to helping out, to empathizing, to relating to eachother, to fighting together, relying on eachother, protecting eachother, being grateful for the others help, being considered a part of team 7, to falling out, to betrayal, to still trying to reason with, to becoming enemies/rivals clashing over their different ideologies on how to go about protecting Konoha and butting heads over his framing of Boruto with her actively working against him trying to undo the brainwashing done on everyone.

They've had plenty of development both positive and negative, KawaSumi on the other hand has remained stagnant from start to finish, even in the anime they had zero progression, and even with the anime downplaying her feelings the manga has more than made clear she was and is still inlove with Boruto and thats not gonna change, especially not for Kawaki.

(Note: isnt it kinda ironic that the anime tried to give KawaSumi KawaSara's development? making him hostile and aggressive towards her at first but then softening up later when that is not how it went down in the manga? funny how that works, just goes to show even they knew they had zero development, they even tried to make her relate to him over her daddy issues the way Sarada did except hers actually meant something because she had the necessary information to relate. Just find it funny that ppl say KawaSara had no development yet SP tried giving KawaSumi that exact development lol)

Anyone who thinks otherwise is just delusional and living in complete fanon fantasy land. The ppl who believe Ada and Kawaki will get together are even more delusional but thats a topic for another day, point is KawaSumi is a joke, majority of its support comes from keepaway shipping, they dont care about Kawaki and they definitely dont care about Sumire, they just want them away from Boruto and Sarada, you literally cannot ask half of these ppl why they like the ship and think it'll be endgame without it either being some fanon nonsense that isnt backed by canon or is taken totally outta context, or the anime they take as more law than the manga because it supports the narrative they wanna push, even though the manga contradicts it entirely.

If anything I'd want to disregard those episodes as canon because Kawaki literally strangles her there and Sumire straight up beats an injured prisoner and nearly gets his arm ripped off by her rabid beast she cant control. If anything I'd want those things NOT to be canon for my ship, but of course cuz its KawaSumi those bad moments dont matter cuz its part of their 'development' and yet these same ppl bring up chapter 28 constantly like it just happened yesterday. They are both massive hypocrites, and ppl who have zero self awareness, all you can do is smile and wave and let them cling to their delusion because atp its all they got. Especially the ones who say their 'suspicious' of Sumire's feelings for Boruto and dont think its real love because she aint run to his rescue like Sarada (which she did just not there and Sarada didnt even fight for him and ended up being protected instead which undercut the moment).

Again, just smile and wave, the characters who have shown what real love is so far is InoHima, BoruSumi and BoruMitsu where the feelings are mutual and given equally (Im referring to both romantic love and just love in general) but Im not gonna go into that here, I've gone on enough, maybe if Im asked I'll go more in depth on that in another post but those of you who get it already know what I mean.

Bottom line, KawaSumi is a joke, it thrives purely off fanon and having the biggest ship fanbase on their side, if not for them nobody would even pay them any mind or even know their foolishness existed.

Oh god the order left sirius to rot in prison take is back. I hate it so much they never take into account the bigger picture. "People knew he was very anti voldemort why wouldnt they think of that" well everyone in the order knew there was a spy among them and remus thought that was sirius, I wouldnt be suprised if other members thought it as well. And everyone in the order was anti voldemort. "Dumbledore didnt even hear sirius side of it when he heard out death eater snape" like snape asked to meet with Dumbledore and never do we hear of sirius requesting to speak to him while in jail. And as soon as sirius actually speeks to Dumbledore he realizes sirius is innocent. And they never seem to take into account how sirius never tried to prove his innocence, he seemed actually to rather do the opposite. So heres the case sirius the secret keeper betrayed the potters and hunted down and killed Peter qnd 12 other people and when they get to sirius he says i killed them. And with how the chaos of those days i can see how people wouldnt question he was guilty. The order didnt fight for him well he didnt fight for himself either and how are you gonna start doing that when sirius as good as said he was guilty.

That "take" generally recycles itself among newer readers and fanfic writers who are excellent with prose but should really know better than to whitewash certain characters, and who have a bad habit of not referring back to canon when doing their fix-its.

I generally ignore takes that sound like they're either from the "Marauders fandom" or from people who haven't read the books in a while. The "people let Sirius rot and they will all pay for it in my bashing fic" crowd fall into those two holes and also the hole called "has literally no imagination for or grace to give to things that aren't explicitly stated in the text". Sirius, Remus, and other characters who were in the Order the first time all talk about how they were grossly outnumbered and there was an aura of mistrust because people knew someone was leaking secrets, but not who it was or if it was just one person. Once Sirius' seeming betrayal came out, it makes perfect sense that a ragtag group of adults whose trust in each other was already frayed were ready and willing to attribute all the other traitorous acts to this same person.

The key thing is what you pointed out so long ago: Sirius never tried to prove his innocence. We don't know if he had a trial or not, but at the end of the day that doesn't matter either. It's canon that Veritaserum doesn't force people to tell the absolute truth (this is a common misconception), just the truth as the person sees it, and people with skill in certain magical disciplines like Occlumency can lie under its effects. So the equally common argument in every damn fic of "wHY diDN't tHEy JUsT uSE vERITaSERum" doesn't work in-universe.

The same fandom members who are just SO SURE that if Sirius had had his day in court he would have been freed, forget that Sirius made no moves to proclaim his innocence before, during or after his pursuit of Peter in 1980. Just a quick word to literally anyone about what had happened with Peter and the Fidelius and where he was going might have saved Sirius jail time, and yet.....

It is possible to love Sirius and acknowledge that he has a ridiculous guilt complex and consistently fucks himself over with reckless actions throughout his life... but a lot of his fans don't seem to agree, and would rather make Albus or someone else his scapegoat.

There's a hypocrisy in a lot of these fanfics and meta conversations and inaccurate readings, where these people assume Albus wants to control every single person (he doesn't), and that he SHOULDN'T be responsible for everyone's welfare (he doesn't want to be, and isn't, except when operating as the leader of the Order with every adult character's consent to being "ordered around" and sent on dangerous missions). Albus was the Order's leader, but he's not anyone's parent. He had directions, he made suggestions, but he didn't know everyone's business or he would have known about the Fidelius switch. He wasn't responsible for minding every Order member.

The argument's even more ridiculous when you remember the Ministry employees that join the Order in the Second War. Do you ever see anyone arguing that Albus knows every detail of Kingsley Shacklebolt or Nymphadora Tonks' lives? That he controls everything they do and is responsible for any danger they get into, even though their day jobs are literally being the magical police for Magical Britain? No, because it's ridiculous.

There is so much happening in this ask, but for some reason I keep coming back to "HEEHEEE???? what are you Michael Jackson?" because wow that made me actually LOL for real.

I'm always going to be for canon divergence. I say do whatever makes you happy! Your MC must truly have their hands full learning all that stuff with Barbatos and Solomon. But like if you're gonna learn those things, might as well learn from the best, right???

The thing I like about Barbatos is that he is very versatile. They've kept him very mellow in the game, but he has so much potential to go dark if you want to write him that way. I mean they don't even confirm that he actually has a torture dungeon in the game... I'm pretty sure it's just Mammon who says he's rumored to have one. But like by leaving it open ended like that, we can speculate all we like about it, you know?

And traditionally, wasn't that the point of demons? Aside from tempting humans, they're supposed to torture souls, right? I mean, I don't know how accurate that actually is, but it's interesting to think about.

I'm not especially obsessed with torture and I think it's pretty clear from my writing that I'm generally on the fluffier side of things lol. But it's interesting to think about, especially considering the types of characters we're dealing with here. And I really like the exploration of morality and inner evil and that sort of thing when it comes to heavy stuff like torture.

I thought it was very interesting in Barbatos Live how he calls MC his good conscience. 'Cause in Tea Time with You, he very much indicates that he used to do crazy stuff all the time, but then the Incident happened and now he doesn't. So wouldn't his guilt over whatever happened be his good conscience, like it has been all this time before MC showed up? Is he saying that MC just makes him want to stick to that even more?

Though he also says that it's like demon nature to have some darkness, so I don't know if he's talking about his specific experience necessarily. It's more like he's saying he wants to fight against his own nature? I dunno.

OH DANG but I love that idea about the maids and such in the castle! Demons that messed up so bad, now Barb keeps them at the castle to work??? What was that about not giving into the darkness???? lk;asdfkjlfd

I'm afraid I can't really comment on the amount of darkfic present in the fandom at any given time... due to being a Fluffster Extraordinaire, I'm faaaar more likely to read sweet lovey romance fics than Barb torture dungeon fics. Which isn't to say that I don't like the Barb torture dungeon situation because I do indeed find it very intriguing lol. I'm just usually like yo I want that guy to bake for me and make me tea, I don't care what he does in his spare time.

In fact, I really like the idea of a sweet and doting house husband Barbatos that pampers MC all day every day while being a ruthless and loyal demon butler the rest of the time. Like the dungeon isn't a rumor but as long as he washes off the blood when he comes back, MC is like whatever lol.

Oh but I also like the idea of MC being just as bad as him, now that I think about it. Like MC isn't ignorant, they don't turn a blind eye, they are right there with him, actively participating. The torture couple aadsflkjdfkjldf

I dunno, I think I'm considering it in more of a humorous way than a serious way, though.

Anyway, it's fun to consider all aspects of Barbatos because he has so many facets! And I think it's fun to explore the different sides of him.
