Got this idea a while ago while listening to this song

Shadow Milk managing to muster enough strength inside the Silver Tree to reach out to one person. A cautious Witch child studying Dark Moon Magic, which draws its power from the Dark Side of the Moon, which Shadow Milk states is his home. Through his charisma and Deceit, he manages to form a bond with this Witch child as they grow older and older. He eventually convinces them to come down to Earthbread to aide him and the other Beasts in escaping the Silver Tree. As the Beasts were imprisoned long ago, the Witches likely no longer speak of them, and if they do, it’s probably through legend, especially since they existed long before the Ancient cookies and barely anyone on Earthbread knows of them anymore.

You could feel yourself drifting away from the cookie. It’s likely the sun was rising. Your body was waking. “I gotta go, Milky.” You said sadly.

You didn’t notice the large blue cookie’s slit pupils further thin. Before he could stop himself, he blurted in a deafeningly angry tone, “N O !”

He realized his mistake when he saw you back away slightly, your face contorting in fear. Oh dear, he broke character! My, he really was out of practice, wasn’t he? Silly Shadow Milk. He placed his hand over his Soul Jam and bowed a bit in a gesture of apology. “Oh, I’m so so sorry, little witchlet! I’ve just been alone for sooooo long that the thought of you leaving terrified me to no end!” He whined dramatically, the back of his hand against his forehead as though he just might faint in despair. “Please forgive me!”

After a bit, you seemed to calm down. You still looked a little wary, but there was now sympathy in your eyes. You were rather emotionally intelligent for a child it seemed. “What if I come back tomorrow?”

Shadow Milk readily allowed the giddy expression to grace his face. Oh, this was perfect, perfect, perfect! He playfully tapped his chin in thought. “What if you come back… every night?” He suggested.

You giggled. “Okie!”

He held out his humanized hand, pinkie outstretched. “Pinkie promise?” He asked.

You locked your pinkie with his. “Pinkie promise!” You agreed with a smile. His eyes seemed to glow with delight at your answer.

Children were oh-so easy to trick.

after a certain point, given that the master is Really Fucking Good at mind control and such, you have to imagine that no one could just pick up on the noise in his head with a little general telepathy. he had to choose to let the doctor in to share it. and. and okay. we need to put aside him striving to be The Best At Controlling People’s Minds in the context of him having his mind violated as a child because if i think about these two things in relation to each other i’ll throw up.

but there has to have been a point before he was so accomplished that he couldn’t have defended his own mind as easily. that he couldn’t keep someone, anyone, from delving into his head and hearing the drums. which means i must conclude, because we find out who put them in his head at all and it’s the most powerful guy on gallifrey, that when he was younger, the people around him did know. they could hear the drums. they could figure out what was done to him. but they did nothing, they said nothing, they told him he was hearing things. because if the lord president wanted to use a child for his own ends, who was going to stand up and stop him? easier to sweep it under the rug. and the master lived with that for so long that finally having just one other person hear the drums was a shock to him.

So I kept coming back to keiidakamyaa's amazing Child of Thanos AU and artwork and finally I had the idea of combining Child of Thanos!Loki with Hunter!Mobius and that was it. The whole plot instantly fell into place. I went into a daze and wrote 11k words, just to start.

ORANGE

The smile Loki gave him sent a shiver down his spine. The rain began to fall heavier, their hair weighing down and sticking to their faces. Loki didn’t seem to notice.

He raised his scepter, arms wide. That deranged smile never left his face. “Rejoice!” Loki shouted across the field of the dead. “I bring you that most precious gift: freedom.”

“Oh yeah?” He swiped his hair back. He’d had a helmet though where it’d gone during the initial fight, he hadn’t a clue. He probably should have fixed that. “Freedom from what? This?” Mobius gestured with his Time Stick to the remains around them. “The TVA?” Not that escape wasn’t tempting but he had no desire to go on the run with a Loki variant, much less a broken one.

I have been so exhausted lately, I feel like I have no words. Thirteen and a half hour days are not conducive to writing and when I do have a day off, I either have so much other stuff to do or my brain is an absolute blank. I hate it because I was really excited about this AU and now I'm just tired and sad.

this is like. purely based off my own headcanon so i’m gonna sound delusional but i feel like it’s so important that kyle looks nothing like maura. at least not at first glance. like maybe when you really look at them you can see the similarities in the smiles, nose, cheeks, eye shape, etc but in terms of coloring they couldn’t be further apart. as per her original appearance (i hate you winick for giving her a blond bob and lipo…) she has fair skin auburn hair and green eyes while kyle has black hair brown eyes and at the very least tan skin. i feel like looking at the only parent you have and not being able to see yourself at all really adds so much to their dynamic between the disconnect he feels and her looking at him and seeing gabriel every time.
