Intro: I'm Ada! I write fanfiction mainly for Roman Reigns, but I expanded to Jey Uso and now I've added his twin Jimmy, lol. Also have a Samoa Joe fic lurking somewhere.

Pairings: As you'll see in my masterlist, ALL my OCs are Black women. Dark skin, light skin, caramel, slim, big...all beautiful Black baddies. Also, being Nigerian, I aim to incorporate more Nigerian names in my fics too. Sorry, I don't do slash of any kind. I've been asked before and it's just not my thing.

My first fic: My first-ever one was actually an RVD fic called Shattered Rose that I never finished, when white women were my OCs. I know wayyyy better now😬

My longest fic: My first baby, Into The Deep End. March 6, 2024 will make it ten years since I first published it on another platform. I worked so hard on it as a stress reliever when I was studying for my Masters, and to know that it still gets so much love on all the sites I've posted it on truly warms my heart. Targets is my second-longest, I really enjoyed that one too.

My shortest fic: Definitely Wait For You. Marian tagged me in a "Seven Sentence" challenge and this was the result. I'm terrible with <1000 word fics and it was truly a challenge, lol.

My most popular fic: So, there's three answers. Overall, Into The Deep End for sure. But for my one-shots, I still get messages and quotes about Power Couple (Roman/OC) and On Sight (Jey Uso/OC) to this day.

My personal fave fic: Lol this answer changes all the time. They're all my babies, I really can't choose. Each time I re-read one, I fall in love with it.

30+, a qualified lawyer/attorney by profession. I've been writing all sorts of stuff since I was a child. There's something about putting your imagination down on paper that is so liberating and I really enjoy it. Maybe one day I will have the courage to actually publish something.

More Like War Ch. 2

Listen. I actually really like Boudreau and think he's a good coach but man has writing this chapter reminded me of my Many Grudges Against Him. Every media quote was an actual quote, with only one having been padded a little. 

Boudreau’s wildly Canadian Hockey Man quote about Nicke’s “toughness”: 

“There’s something that’s ingrained in him,” Boudreau said. “You don’t think of it with Nick because he’s a blond, blue-eyed, Swedish, good-looking young man. But he’s got a toughness that belies all that, a toughness that coaches just love. He’s not going to fight, but he’s tough. I saw him last year where he could barely walk, but he was playing.”

The Red Wings game with the five penalties where only Sema was lambasted? 100% accurate!

Perhaps the best example came in a 3-2 loss to New Jersey at Verizon Center on Nov. 4, when Semin took three offensive-zone penalties, including one for hooking that led to a Devils goal. Afterward, Coach Bruce Boudreau was blunt in saying, "Alexander Semin has been in the league for five years and it’s just dumb penalties.”

Several days later, this reveal:

It’s believed that Semin has been playing through a litany of injuries, which might have something to do with his recent decline in production. He has not recorded a point in three straight games and has not scored a goal in six.

No points in three straight games! Can you imagine. I mean in 08-09 he did very much score at a 1.27 PPG pace (79 points in 62 games) so fair enough!

That CBJ Game

Earlier this week, Coach Bruce Boudreau said he believed the Blue Jackets planned to target Ovechkin by hitting the all-star every time he touched the puck. Columbus Coach Ken Hitchcock confirmed Tuesday that it was indeed his team’s strategy. “Run, chase, hunt down, hit, whatever word you want to use, that would be correct,” Hitchcock told reporters in Columbus. “He’s a very unique player because he gives it and he takes it. He doesn’t whine or cry about getting hit. He has fun in that role because the more you give it to him, the more he gives it back.”

Brooks Laich just absolutely could NOT stop hitting it out of the park with horny quotes about Alexander Semin:

The other part of that quote was taken from Olaf Kolzig.

Sema's weight and body composition played a big role in his injuries. He was hilariously infamous for never doing anything but cardio in the weight room. His weight in the press around this time was something like 209 lbs, but bless him he punctured that illusion real quick in this Russian interview from 2009:

hey again! i'm the oc anon, off the top of my head, the first background oc of yours that comes to mind is caroline's husband who's secretly a spy which is a fact that none of the bridgertons are privy to and instead find him to be rather tame and staid when they actually couldn't be more wrong. mr. fitzalan is another one, the dance between charlotte and him being one of my most revisited scenes. oh, and frances cowper as well, her 'mercenary' attitude being something that charlotte appreciates. basically all these intelligent characters that take care to portray a certain image for the sake of their individual goals but possess hidden depths once among their inner circle.

i also forgot that charlotte bridgerton is a canon character, in my head your version reigns supreme especially the fact that she isn't kate 2.0 but has her own personality and interesting mindsets. 'my heart revolts' is my personal favourite of yours at the moment with it accomplishing so many things i was wanting to see in an eloise fic and the fact that it is occurring parallel to s2 allowing edwina her moment to actually shine too (isabel flirting with edwina and edwina for once being genuinely flustered and isabel giving her advice on how to navigate the ton)as well as acknowledging how casually people dismiss that scene of anthony, someone who is 25+ something not sure, making all these interviews to these teenagers basically.

LOL my boy Lord Geoffrey Findlay-Watt- the most inoffensive looking man with the ugliest name if my sister is to be believed (inspired name choice, JQ), who's secretly involved in all sorts of shady shit. Compiling all my HCs for him, he's a player in The Great Game, has sent Oliver Crane to India, I myself am unsure whether he works for the Home Office or Foreign Office, and he was in the British embassy in Washington during the Jacksonian years. What was he doing? Why did he do it? Who knows.

And I'm glad you also enjoy my recurring oc Frederick Fitzalan! He's one of my faves too. And I think the "mercenary" wasn't Lady Frances Cowper (who unfortunately, isn't quite my oc- she was a real person lol), but it was Cressida's daughter and Charlotte's bff, Matilda Twombley. You're right that they all have something in common, which is their societally appropriate façade that belies something more transgressive. That's something that entertains me so I write a lot of characters who are like that.

The title My Heart Revolts is actually a quote from Anne Lister's diary, the full line being, "I love and only love the fairer sex, and thus beloved by them in turn, my heart revolts from any love but theirs," which is such a powerful and romantic line. I was so frustrated by the show's treatment of their token "feminist" character. They half-assed her "feminist awakening" and they half-assed her first brush with romance and I really wanted a more assertive love interest like Isabel for Eloise (thus the hitting on Edwina lol) who'd fulfil what Theo was meant to do, but in a less mansplain-y way, while also sticking to the appropriate spheres (for the most part) and also being more romantic.

Re-watching Sons of Anarchy and, while Chibs will forever be my fave, I think Bobby is super underappreciated, so I wanted to show him some love. SFW. Just fluffy.

It was late when your Old Man finally walked through the front door. You had been thoroughly engrossed in your book and had missed the telltale rumble of his motorcycle pulling into the driveway. You glanced up over the back of the couch with a grin as Bobby dragged himself into the house, hauling a heavy duffel bag over his shoulder. His long gray hair and beard looked extra wild, likely from the wind on the ride. He noticed you on the couch, the living room only dimly lit by the lamp on a side table.

“Hi, baby,” he sighed happily, an easy smile coming to rest on his mouth. He dropped the duffel on the ground beside the door to the laundry room and made his way to the couch, tugging his kutte off as he went. You could tell by the way he lumbered over to you that it had been a long ride and that he was beat. But he had also never been one to turn down time with you after a run.

“Hey there, bear,” you cooed as he dropped onto the couch, laying his kutte over the arm. You rose to your knees beside him and kissed him deeply, his hands resting on your rib cage. As you brought yours up to cup his jaw, his arms wrapped completely around you, pulling you into his tight embrace as you straddled his lap. Somehow, the two of you always ended up like this after a long run; you on his lap as he cradled you. You could feel his heartbeat and the expanding of his lungs steady beneath you as you rested your cheek against his chest, his beard tickling your nose.

“How was your week?” he asked, his lips pressed against the hair on the crown of your head.

“It was alright,” you told him lightly. “Work was pretty slow, so I got some baking done. By the way, there’s banana bread for tomorrow morning.”

You felt Bobby’s arms tighten around you momentarily. “You’re the best, baby. I missed you so much.”

“Missed you too, bear.” Comfortable silence reigned around the two of you for a while, simply indulging in each other’s company after a week apart.

“You know what I was thinking about yesterday?”

“Hmm?” Bobby hummed above you.

“I was having lunch with Lyla and she mentioned that our wedding is one of her favorite memories of the two of us, specifically, finding out that you were the one who made our wedding cake. She told me, and I quote, ‘I thought I was going to die of a cuteness overload.’” You felt the shaking in Bobby’s chest as he laughed, like a roll of thunder in the otherwise quiet living room.

“So, it got me thinking about favorite memories,” you continued, wrapping your arms around his neck, tucking your face between his beard and the curtain of his wild hair. “I think my favorite memory of you is honestly the first time I ever stepped onto the TM lot.” You chuckled. “You were such a mess.”

Bobby snorted, rubbing his hand up and down your spine beneath your t-shirt. “I was nervous!” he reasoned. “I hadn’t ever seen a woman as beautiful as you.”

It was your turn to snort. When you had hopped out of the TM tow truck alongside Opie after he had towed your broken-down sedan from the edge of Charming, you had been wearing Doc Martens, an oversized black Streetlight Manifesto T-shirt, and skintight black bike shorts. Your legs had been on full display, which normally would have been fine, but by then they were covered in motor oil from getting under the hood yourself before calling Teller-Morrow. You knew you probably had some on your face, as well. But Bobby had always maintained that when he had come out of the office with Gemma as you crossed the lot, your hair flashing in the California sun, he knew he was in deep trouble.

“Regardless,” you argued, “you were so sweet to me, keeping me company in the clubhouse until the car was done, even though you were blushing up a storm. I could tell, even then, that you were different than your brothers. Wiser, more even-keel. I thought you were fascinating. And then I was hooked.”

Bobby’s hand had come to rest between your shoulder blades as you spoke, his palm pressed flat and his fingers splayed. He planted another kiss atop your head. “I’m so glad that piece-of-shit car broke down,” he mused, drawing another laugh from you.

“Me too,” you agreed. You paused for a moment, trying to guess the answer before you had even asked the question. “What’s your favorite memory of me?”

His answer came immediately, as though he didn’t even have to think about it. As though he thought about it frequently. “The first time I made you laugh. Do you remember?”

You bit your lip, humming as you thought back. Your life with your Old Man had been full of laughter; Bobby was a naturally funny man, and you were already predisposed to cheerfulness, so it was hard to remember the first time specifically.

“Uh-uh,” you responded woefully. “Tell me?”

Bobby chuckled, using his free hand to pull the glasses from his face and set them on the side table, pressing his fingers into his tired eyes.

“Our first ‘official’ date,” he told you, catapulting your mind back to the little honky-tonk dive bar that Bobby took you to in Morada, to listen to bluegrass (because he learned it was your favorite) and eat barbecue (because he learned that was also your favorite). The two of you had sat in the back of the joint, cuddled close, no awkwardness between you at all. You remembered feeling so comfortable around Bobby, even in the very beginning.

“I told you about my ‘no pot before 9 am�� rule,” he continued, “and you looked at me like I was the dumbest motherfucker on the planet.” His booming laugh reverberated in his chest. “You were dying laughing at me, but I couldn’t even be embarrassed. Your smile was so beautiful, and your laughter was like, the greatest thing I had ever heard. It made me so happy to know that I could make you laugh, could bring you joy. And I vowed right then to spend the rest of my life trying to do just that.”

Your cheeks hurt from grinning so hard as Bobby spoke. You could feel tears pricking at the corners of your eyes, so overwhelmed by the love you felt for this man. You pulled your head off of his chest and pressed your forehead against his, basking in his grasp. His eyes were heavy-lidded, and you knew he’d be down for the count soon. Your hands caressed his jaw beneath his unruly beard, and he blinked sleepily at you, a small smile on his lips. You kissed him again, soft and slow, his lips perfectly orchestrated with yours after years of kisses.

“You’ve done an excellent job at that, my bear,” you whispered to him before sliding off his lap to stand before him with your hand held out to him. “Come on, let’s get you to bed.”

As you and Bobby trudged down the hallway to your bedroom, you heard him murmur drowsily beside you, “I love you, (Y/N).”

Your heart swelled in your chest, so happy to have your Old Man home again, here to make more memories with you. “I love you, too, Bobby.”

Favorite thing about them: She's one of the most well-rounded characters I've ever seen. She's strong, but is also allowed to be weak. She helps people, but also lets people help her when she needs it. She's kind and caring, but is also allowed to be angry and not take shit. There's just a nice balance of everything.

Least favorite thing about them: I honestly can't think of anything, because all her bad traits make me love her more as a well-rounded character.

Random headcanon: She's autistic/ADHD.

Unpopular opinion: She's a hardcore lesbian (cosidering the fan fave ship in this fandom, that seems like a pretty unpopular opinion to me). Every time I see Elena interact with girls, I just gets the gayest vibe from her. Nowhere near the same vibe I get when I see her interact with guys.

Song I associate with them: It's partly because of an EOA fanvid, but Stand In The Rain really does fit her.

Favorite picture of them: I'm so happy we got one more render pose before the show ended.

Gabe

Favorite thing about them: How honorable and trustworthy he is. He's someone you can always count on. I also like how he started out kinda over-protective, but grows throughout the series and learns to trust other people's strengths as well.

Least favorite thing about them: That he never got his own outfit (I swear, his entire wardrobe is just different kind of uniforms). Show us Gabe's secret fashion sense, Disney.

Favorite line: (Kinda a random quote, but I still like it) "When I tried to play like you, I was terrible. I only got better when I started playing like a royal guard."

wow, so you might have noticed i’ve been a little absent from tumblr these past few days, a couple of things happened that reminded me i have a lot to be thankful and grateful for

first: i hit 1k last week which just absolutely blows my fuckin mind, y’all do not know how grateful i am for each and every one of you. it genuinely feels like yesterday i was nervously writing the first part of feel something and now i’ve got a whole masterlist and a giant support system. thank yall for always supporting me and treating me so good i love you guys so so so much

second: saturday night i was in a pretty serious accident with a deer, i’m okay (super super sore tho fml) my car is well... my car is not okay. at the end of the day i am just grateful to be alive and relatively okay - always wear your seatbelts you guys!!!! i firmly believe we would be having a much different conversation if my seatbelt hadn’t locked 

so i thought it would be fun to do a game/ask night and celebration to celebrate 1k and walking away from my accident - the theme is simply my most used emojis

Fic you were nervous to post: Behind the Screen BUT if I’m going to be honest here, all my work makes me nervous, as much as i proof read my work i always feel it could be better.

How you chose your titles: It’s done at random, usually it depends on what I’m writing. I usually look up books about the AU I’m working with, or quotes, sometimes the title will just come to me and I work with it.

Do you outline: Absolutely not, and this is why I’m a mess 24/7. I usually know what I’m going for and there’s on occasion a paper draft here or there of the WIPs in progress but more times then none nothing is drafted its just what comes to me.

James Olsen, its like hes Jimmy Olsen but not. I don’t dislike him, but I don’t like him either. Like he has nothing to do after the first season and no personality. I like the actor and wish they gave him more to do. Just everything the show did with his character makes no sense to me

Hello ! Can you tell me about Charles I, King of England? I am curious about this king. Thank you :)

Sigh, my problematic fave... Charlie boy got greedy and forgot he ruled England not France lmao. 

No but no shade, of course it is more complicated than that. Charles is a very controversial figure. A number of Protestant historians have condemn him and his reign. He is often depicted as cold, indecisive, or even as a tyrant. Even though there is a certain truth in each of this qualifying adjectives, I tend to agree with historians who have written a more nuanced portrait of Charles without erasing the shaddy things he did because he did cross the line of legality. I like this quote from Katie Whitaker : "Charles was the last medieval king in Britain, a man imbued with all the ideals of chilvary, who believed he was appointed by God to rule." And here lies the tragedy. His reign was a defining moment where two conceptions of power came into collision : the divine prerogatives of the King against the privileges of Parliament.

Charles as a child had a weak constitution, some historians stated he was suffering from rickets. At some point, he conquered this physical infirmity however his speech came slowly and with difficulty and until his death he had a stutter. He spent his childhood in the shadow of his strong and radiant older brother, Henry, who he loved dearly. When Henry died in 1608, Charles was eleven, he had an excellent education, he studied French, Latin, Spanish, Italian, Greek, theology, drawing, dancing, fencing... His father, James I, was very much interested in the education of his children and one of the first letter Charles wrote to his father was :  "Sweete, Sweete Father, I learne to decline substantives and adjectives, give me your blessing, I thank you for my best man, your loving sone York". In his late teens he spent more and more time with his father even though he despised his "decadent" Court. He was religiously devot and of a strong moral stance which reflected in his Court when he was king. The guiding principles was order and decorum. Contrary to his father, he was also eager to play the role of an international statesman, which made his situation with Parliament even worse. However, he lacked confidence which caused him to be influenced by the ideas of the people he most trusted: Buckingham, his father... James could read the room, Charles unfortunately not so much. After James' passing, he started taking some of his father views to an extreme. However, it's important to note that when he came to power in 1625 the situation was already tense :

His father had a patriachal view of the monarchy. He wrote political treatises exposing his own views on the divine right of kings, stating :"‘Kings are justly called gods for that they exercise a manner or resemblance of divine power on earth". This kind of discourse didn't sit well with the House of Commons which was already sensitive on the matter of its rights and privileges. Parliament thought it had a traditional right to interfere with the policy of the realm. And so the political atmosphere soured quickly between both parties. For instance, when Parliament tried to meddle with the Spanish marriage negociations (between Charles and the Infanta of Spain) James was furious.

Parliament had considerable leverage : was the one holding the purse strings. This proved to be a thorn in the side of EVERY Stuarts rulers and it’s why throughout out the 17th century, England was shy with its foreign policy. Unlike the French King who was doing whatever he wanted, the English monarch had to beg subsidies to Parliament. Schematically, here was the usual scenario : 

King opens a new Parliamentary session because he needs moneeey, the House of Commons says maaay be but before we reeeally need to discuss something else *push his own agenda*, *criticise the royal policy* (rumor has it that you can still hear the king muttering not agaaain), thus ensues many excruciating negotiations and conflicts which usually ends up with the king saying fuck you and either proroguing or dissoluting his Parliament (this hot mess found its peak during the Exclusion Crisis, was a real soap opera lol). 

Again, it is schematical because even in the House of Commons some MPs were content with James' patriachal views. Anyway, at the core, it was truly a battle between royal prerogative and privilege!

THEN, you add the very sensitive matter of religion, its impact on politics was huge.

There were the Anglicans and Presbyterians which didn't see eye to eye. Yet compromises were made which made coexistence bearable for some while others fled to Europe or in the colonies in order to set up their own independent churches. James had hoped to bring the two Churches together and to create uniformity across the two kingdoms (Scotland & England). He tried to establish a Prayer Book similar to that used in England but faced with great opposition, he withdrew. (but guess who tried to follow daddy’s steps but didn’t withdrew?)

And last but not least... who the English despised the most above all? The followers of this boy right here...

... CATHOLICS, satan's minions on earth. 

With the outbreak of the Thirty Years War in Europe the fear of Catholicism was very much alive. Charles and Buckingham pushed James to summoned Parliament to ask for money to finance a war with Spain. The very much anti-Catholic Parliament agreed to the subsidies but unfortunately the expedition failed. James died, and Charles at the age of 24 had to deal with the consequenses. 

Relations between King and Parliament deteriorated quickly. There were the matter of war + Buckingham had negotiated a marriage for Charles to Henrietta Maria, the sister of the French King, promising that she would be permitted to practise her own Catholic religion, and that English ships would help to suppress a French Protestant rebellion in La Rochelle. Obviously, Parliament was furious especially towards Buckingham and Charles was forced to dissolve Parliament. For the King it was a direct challenge to his right to appoint his advisers and to govern. The Privy Council started to consider ways of raising money without the help of Parliament : forced loan, ship money... let's say that from here it started to go downhill.

For the matter of religion, unfortunately the caution of James I was replaced by Charles' desire for uniformity. Moreover, the King was interested by the Arminian group which was an alternative to the rigid Calvinism : the emphasis was on ritual and sacraments and they rejected the doctrine of predestination. Howerver, for many English, this group had too much ties with Catholicism. Also, some of them were great supporters of a heightened royal power which freaked out a lot of people who feared a sort of takeover. Of course, as often with fears and phobias, it was out of proportion with reality. Nonetheless, for many, Arminian meant : Catholicism +  absolute monarchy = tyranny. When William Laud (the Arminian leader) became Bishop of London in 1628, another stormy Parliament session took place. Charles decided to prorogue it but the Commons refused and they passed the Three Resolutions which condemned the collection of tonnage and poundage that Charles was doing without their consent as well as the doctrine and practice of Arminianism. Charles dissolved the Parliament and proclaimed he intended to govern without the Parliament until it calms the fuck down. This proved to be a significant breakdown within the system of government and the situation got a whole lot worse.

It's already a lot right? BUT HANG ON because in this very healthy anti-Catholicism atmosphere who Charles married? A FRENCH CATHOLIC PRINCESS. It made the crown more vulnerable and perhaps a lot of things would have been different if she had been Protestant but damn they were good together!!! The romance of Charles and Henrietta Maria is one of the greatest love stories in history. At first one could say it was a mismatched couple : a Protestant King with a Catholic Princess. Their differences and lack of understanding made their earlier years together complicated and turbulent. There were lot of quarrels and yet, they fell passionately in love. Their daughter, Princess Elizabeth wrote an account the day before Charles was beheaded and she said: “He bid us tell my mother that his thoughts had never strayed from her, and that his love would be the same to the last.” Lina wrote on her blog her top 10 favourite titbits of info of love and heartache about Charles I & Henrietta Maria, go check it out ;)

This is getting too long lol I'm not going to get into what most historians called his "personnal reign" and the civil wars. I just hope that this couple of informations made you want to find more about Charles and his time :) 

Don't settle for just one book about him because as I said at the beginning, he is a very controversial figure and lot of biographies (not so much with the recent ones but still) tend to insist on his supposedly taste for "tyranny" and romanticise the role of Parliament (aka the whole Whig historiography). Charles' reign sparked off a revolution where new ideals of liberty and citizens' rights were born HOWEVER it was a matter of decades/centuries for these ideas to penetrate society and every strats of the political spectrum. The Parliament's ideology of the 1620-1640 (and then during the Restoration) had a very nostalgic vision of politics. The idea of reform was light years away from these ultraconservative men.

But to be honest even outside Parliament. When you look at men such as Fénelon, Bolingbroke or Montesquieu. They were all convinced that a restoration (often of a magnified past) was the only response to the evils of their time. Reform in the early modern period, whether it was religious or political, was thought as a restoration. It's in mid-18th century that the shift happened, the future was at last conceivable. Anyway, all of that is to say that I'm a bit wary of all the authors who depict the MPs of this period as great reformers, who fought against the tyranny. They were mostly conservative men and very attached to THEIR priviliges.
