Goals For the Week (11/3 - 11/8)
Hi, everyone.
For once I'm actually uploading my goals for the week on a Sunday! Excellent. I'll be introducing a new goal titled "Future Goals." This will just be a combination of my financial goals, career goals, etc., and what I am doing to achieve them.
Let's get into it.
Academic Goals:
This week I have no exams, BUT next week, I have my 3rd ochem exam. Because of this, I want to spend this week really focused on studying for that. Tomorrow and Friday, I have two physics quizzes, so those will be one of my top priorities as well. I really would like to get an A in the class, so I need to definitely step up my game. I have an A in lecture, but oh my god, the lab is for some reason, way more difficult. It's dragging my grade down tremendously.
Fitness Goals:
As always, the goal is to complete my four day split. This week, I want to introduce either step ups or smith machine lunges to my leg day, so we'll see how that goes. I won't be attending my usual cycling class, so I think I'll end up doing my own makeshift class another day (aka I'm just going to ride my bike standing up on the pedals for an hour).
Future Goals: I should probably call this something like "Planning for The Future Goals" but for now we'll call it future goals. Basically this is where I'll detail my goals for the week that'll help me in the long run. Alright. So this week, once again, we have to get back in the lab and really get the ball rolling on research. I was able to start working with someone last week, but this week will definitely be a sort of intro to the actual work. Likewise, this week I get paid. I have to set aside money for my bills, and the rest, immediately into savings. My mom and I have been discussing me buying a car for a while now, and it looks like the day is coming closer and closer. So I need to really focus on saving for that.
Those are the goals for the week! Next Sunday, we'll go over what I was able to accomplish and what I struggled with.
Hope everyone has a fantastic week.
Thanks for reading!

everyone warned me going into ochem that they hated it. and i LOVE the subject. i love it so much. but i am SO pissed off at my professor. he does not explain things. he makes us watch his lectures at home instead of lecturing during lecture time. when i said "im frustrated with the way this class is going, i keep failing despite dedicating pretty much every waking study minute to it, and i don't understand cis-trans isomerism" he hovered over my shoulder for ten minutes, stood there while i got frustrated and started tearing up because he was standing there (which meant i couldn't remember the triple bond on HCN), and then told me to get a tutor. ??? WITH WHAT MONEY?? i don't have time for a job. your CLASS is my job. your stupid lower-division ochem class. my time is split between ochem and the frantic scramble that is everything else in my life. you tell us one thing in the lecture (like that nh3 is not a bronsted-lowery acid) and then put an entirely different thing in the quiz. what's UP with that?
and then, when the weight of my acetanilide/salicylic acid sample wouldn't stabilize for the SECOND WEEK IN A ROW, he wouldn't listen to me when i said so and was like "well. you can just go with the weight that's on it now." NO I CAN'T?? that's a mass of 0.085?? my actual mass when weighed out on a boat was 0.093?? IT WOULDN'T STOP CLIMBING. YOU WOULDN'T LET ME TAKE IT OUT OF THE ERLENMEYER AND USE A BOAT. something was WRONG. you wouldn't help me fix it for FOUR HOURS and then I couldn't run my ACTUAL SAMPLES in the fucking meltemp because, when I couldn't FIND THE MELTEMP, you wouldn't help me, and when i HAD IT, it was too LATE. and if i could have just picked a mass, you could have told me last week, and then i would have been done with lab by two and had more time for your EXORBITANT AMOUNT OF HOMEWORK THAT YOU ASSIGN ON TOP OF QUIZZES, LECTURE QUIZZES, LAB, WEEKLY EXAMS, TWENTY QUESTION PRELABS, REPORTS, MANDATORY "FLIPPED CLASSROOM" ATTENDANCE, AND EVERY OTHER FUCKING THING I HAVE TO DO IN MY LIFE-- WE'RE THREE WEEKS IN AND I HAVEN'T TOUCHED MY OSTEOLOGY TEXTBOOK. im behind in genetics. everything is just CHEMISTRY. he assigns so much. for what. for WHAT? i would learn the same amount by JUST reading the textbook.
but you know. we stay silly. i can manage my time better and just buckle down and study more. i've got this. i've got it.
i actually like... am very peeved with my ochem professor

Fools
pairing: todoroki shouto x fem!reader
warnings: literally pure fluff
word count: 4,021
a/n: I had the idea for this fic because I was doing a fun all-nighter in preparation for my ochem lab final today, and a song played during my morning hysteria called Fools by Lauren Aquilia, and well this idea was born. enjoy! :D also sorry for the heavy shouto content recently, i’ll be moving on to other characters LMAO
✩✶✩❇✩✶✩
There was something strange about being in love with someone when you didn’t recognize it.
Lingering gazes, soft laughter, and hesitant touches.
You were in love with Todoroki Shouto and there was nothing you could do about it. The way your heart hammered whenever you looked at him. The way he smiled when he looked at you took your breath away. The way he always seemed to wait specifically for you made your cheeks grow warm.
There was that time he forgot to bring an umbrella, and you couldn’t find yours, so you took on the pouring rain together. Shouto had his jacket lifted over both of your heads, as you both took down the road running.
His jacket over your heads was practically obsolete. The fat water drops kept hammering down on your bodies, soaking through your shirts and making the fabric cling to your bodies. Your laughter echoed through the air as people watched the two of you running by, their smiles widening as they observed your interactions. You were laughing so hard that your stomach hurt and tears were forming in your eyes. You missed the way he looked at you, his grin growing with every second as you finally stumbled into the train station.
Wet uniforms, wet hair, and bubbling laughter.
It was at that moment you realized how deep your feelings for Shouto were. It wasn’t something passable, and the way he grabbed your cold fingers to keep them warm made you freeze. His cheeks were still pinched into a smile as yours fell from your face, your heart hammering away as suddenly your skin felt like it was on fire.
His fragrance overwhelmed your senses suddenly, the deep earthy tones making your head lull as your laughter stopped. His eyes locked on yours suddenly, and you froze as the air felt magnetized. Your nerves were firing away, tingles and shivers flying through your body as his lips pursed. His tongue poked out from his mouth, licking his lips in nervous anticipation, and you watched with excited horror as he leaned in.
His hand still clutched yours, and you found yourself leaning in as well. Your eyes fluttering closed as you rose to your tiptoes.
“Y/L/N-CHAN! TODOROKI-KUN!” A voice that sounded like Mina shouted, and quickly the two of you shot apart.
The static in the air was gone.
“I have your umbrella! I grabbed it by mistake!” Mina laughed as she presented you with a clear umbrella in her hand.
“Thanks, Mina,” you sigh and take it.
“Was I interrupting something?” Mina asks although the tone in her voice states she’s perfectly aware of what she interrupted.
Do you confess?
Do you take that risk?
“Todoroki-kun had something on his face,” you mumble and Shouto immediately agreed with you.
So began the weird romance between the two of you.
✩✶✩❇✩✶✩
“Todoroki and y/l/n, you’re partners!” Midnight exclaimed as she looked up from her clipboard.
Unbeknownst to the two of you, the class whispered in excitement as you stood up.
The Hero Course was taking dancing lessons to prepare for a large reception that was coming up. Hero work meant being able to participate in length at the various parties you’d be invited to, and that included being able to dance.
There was a concern that there was a larger number of males than females, so for the males, to be paired up with someone who wasn’t each other was a victory.
Soon enough, everyone was paired up, and you smiled up at Shouto.
“Hey there,” you say as his hand slips into yours. His other one rests onto the small of your back and your free hand takes its place onto his shoulder.
“Hi,” Shouto smiles down at you.
The instructions are given and the music plays. Chatter explodes throughout the room as everyone begins to dance. You laugh softly as you hear Bakugou yelling at Midoriya from the distance. Bakugou was complaining about if Midoriya didn't get his ‘shit’ together he would take the male part.
“Are we doing this right?” you whisper as you look down at the floor.
You hadn’t stepped on his feet yet and you were grateful. He was so close to you that if you got any closer you’d be pressed against him. His warm hand held yours reassuringly, and you continued praying to the gods that your hand wouldn’t sweat.
Again, his scent filled your nose and you struggled to keep calm as he guided you across the floor.
“I have no idea what we’re doing,” Shouto confesses with a chuckle. “I’m just copying Aoyama.”
You watch as Shouto nods his head towards the sparkling boy. You turn your head to look at Aoyama who is quite literally performing a dance epic with Mina. Of course, they would be the best dancers! Your amused laughter made Shouto smile wider, but it was gone by the time you looked back up.
“As much as I wish we could be that great, I don’t think we compare,” you admit as Shouto spins you around. You’re pulled back into him, but the yank is a bit too powerful and you stumble into his chest. His apologies are hushed as you forgive him immediately. Midnight’s voice yells at the two of you from the distance, and so you two go back to dancing.
Nearing the end of the lesson, Shouto’s long sleeves are rolled up to his elbows, as are yours. The two of you are completely lost in each other.
Maybe it was because the two of you worked well together in the field, maybe it was because there was something not said between the two of you, but you dance effortlessly with each other.
The conversation between you and Shouto was kept at a whisper as this dancing lesson had become a competition at the end. It was down to the final three, Shouto and you, Aoyama and Mina, and Bakugou and Midoriya.
How that last team had managed to stay in for so long was beyond all of you. Everyone swore they had begun swinging at each other at one point during the lesson, but their intense desire to win seemed to be pushing them forward.
Though, as you stared at Shouto, it dawned to the both of you how far into the competition you were in. The two of you had missed the initial beginning of the competition, so when they announced the final three, you two had been surprised.
Shouto’s hands were burning into your skin, electricity flowing from where he held you.
“You’re out!” Midnight declared, and an unconvinced shout from Bakugou and Midoriya made you laugh.
“They’re quite competitive,” you recognize as you rise onto your toes and Shouto spins you around effortlessly.
“They really are,” Shouto reflects with a nod. “I have to admit, I didn’t think we were going to get this far.”
“I think this means I can finally say to Mina that I’m as great of a dancer as hER!” You shrieked as you feel someone slam into you and you stumble into Shouto’s chest. He had been midstep and completely lost his balance as the two of you fall onto the ground.
His arms wrapped around your waist tightly, your fingers fisting into his shirt as the two of you collide onto the floor. Shouto’s body cushioned your fall, but now you’re sprawled on top of him.
Amused cheers and whistles sound from the peanut gallery at the situation that you and Shouto found yourself in. You push yourself up off him, your hand against his chest, feeling the pounding of his heart as your eyes are wide.
There’s something about this situation that makes you freeze.
Shouto’s hands still grasp onto your waist, his cheeks are a slight pink, and his tongue darts against his lips.
Your blood roars in your ears as you stare down at him, your body trembling as you wonder just what to do. You want to kiss him, you want nothing more than to grab his collar and slam this boys mouth against yours. You want him.
“Oi, y/n/n, stop fucking straddling icy hot and wait to get a fucking room!!” Bakugou roared from the sideline.
The spell is broken just like that.
Your eyes widen, even more, your face feels like it should be the color red as you see that you are in fact straddling Shouto. You jump to your feet and stumble back five meters as you try denying the teasing that has begun within your classmates.
✩✶✩❇✩✶✩
“So you and Todoroki-kun?” Hagakure teases as you come and slouch onto the couches where all the girls are sitting.
It was Saturday night. Which meant no school tomorrow and of course the weekly gossip session you girls had. It took no time for your hands to cover your face and the other girls pine in that they’re curious too.
“I swear to god,” Mina begins her hands clasped by her chin as she has a lovesick expression on her face. “I almost caught them kissing the other day! When I say I almost screamed, I almost screamed!”
“We were not going to kiss!” You deny as you shake your head.
“I caught y/n on her hands and knees in a hallway with Todoroki sitting down!” Uraraka inputs. “Deku-kun about died on the spot.”
“He wanted to try the soba noodles I had made! I was giving him one!” You defended yourself.
“Yeah, but what kind of fucking weirdo does it on her hands and knees? You shuffle over!” Jirou snorts as you slam your head against the armrest. “Besides in a hallway? That sounds super sketchy.”
“Shouto wanted to eat somewhere in private, and everything available outside was being used.” You mumble as you cover your face. “It’s not anything weird at all!”
“Did… did y/l/n-chan call Todoroki-san, Shouto?” Momo asks.
“She did.”
“SINCE WHEN HAVE YOU BEEN ON A FIRST NAME BASIS!” Voices scream at you as you want nothing more than the couch to swallow you whole.
“S-Since the dance lessons…”
“Well, she was straddling him in public for ten minutes,” Tsuyu sighs. “It makes sense.”
“I WAS NOT!” You cry embarrassed as resounding laughter rips through them all.
“Sweetie, you were on his lap for quite some time,” Hagakure giggles as your protesting moans only get louder. “It was not a fall and get up sort of thing! It was a fall, romantic stare and most likely eye sex, then you got up.”
“Good lord,” you sigh as you shake your head, unable to focus on anything anymore.
“I also caught them outside of her room last night! Had it not been for my cockblocking I’m pretty sure they were going to make out on the spot.” Mina sighs as she looks at her fingers.
“We were not going to make out!” You insist as you shake your head. “We went out last night and he was just walking me to my room! Plus he had a question about something personal.”
“Yeah, a question about if you want his mouth everywhere on your body,” Jirou cackles which makes everyone scream. Everyone’s talking at once now, details of your fooled romance being exposed. No one was listening to your protests and every revealed story sent you feeling more and more embarrassed. Were you this obvious?
“Y/n?” Shouto’s voice calls at you, and you whip around so hard you swear you nearly break your neck.
“Shouto!” You squeak as the girls go quiet, everyone turning to face the two of you. The girls had knowing yet neutral faces on, and you wanted nothing more than to tell them to leave.
“I’m going to be studying tonight if you wanted to join me?”
Your eyes snap to Hagakure who lets out a strained laugh.
“S-Sure, what time?” You ask trying to ignore how six pairs of eyes locked onto your body.
“I’ll come to get you?” Shouto suggests, his hands shoving into his pockets, and a kind smile on his face.
“Sounds perfect to me,” you agree with a grin.
Shouto nods and waves, saying a soft goodbye as he left the common space.
You stayed frozen for a bit, your eyes focused on his retreating form. Your eyes shift to the girls as they begin chattering again. They raved about the intense and undeniable chemistry between the two of you. You roll your eyes as you look back towards Shouto’s retreating figure only to see that he’s looking back at you. Like that, your breath is stolen from your lungs.
“If you don’t confess your feelings to Todoroki-kun, you can’t complain when I finally get enough points to seduce him!” Mina shoves you, and you blink, almost confused as you sink back onto the couch.
“I think…” You whisper as they stare at you. “I think I do like him.”
“Girl, if you noticed that now you’re only two years late.”
✩✶✩❇✩✶✩
Three Weeks Later
✩✶✩❇✩✶✩
You lay on Shouto’s floor. The math textbook was in your hands as you stared at the different functions that only seemed to confuse you. Math was such a bittersweet subject for you. More often than not you either completely understood the material or you didn’t at all.
“Why do we need to learn calculus?” You groan as the derivative function swam in your brain. “I’m not going to need to know how to do this? My quirk isn’t Calculus!”
“Because it makes us competent and good students,” Shouto chuckles as he writes on his notes. “You understood last week’s lesson better than I did, and it was much harder than this weeks.”
“That’s because I didn’t drink any dumb bitch juice last time,” you quip with a chuckle.
“Okay, what is it that you don’t understand?” Shouto says as he places his pencil down.
Calloused fingers brush against your own as he takes the textbook from you, and you pout as Shouto pats the empty mat next to him. Groaning, you sit up and shuffle next to him.
“I think I have a good enough understanding to get you to understand this,” Shouto says as he writes out one of the problems on a blank sheet of paper. “Try it out, let’s see what you’re doing.”
“Yes, sir!” You salute playfully, your eyes closed as you grin.
Opening them you focus back in on the paper, your eyes staring at the first problem and your brain shrivels.
“This is going to be a long night for you,” you laugh awkwardly as you lean towards the paper, pencil in hand.
“It’s alright, I don’t mind staying up.”
The words are innocent, they’re words from a friend willing to help another out. Yet your stomach tumbles as if he had promised you something grand. You had to ignore the butterflies in your stomach. Ignore the way your skin warmed where his breathing hit your shoulder. Math was the best distraction so you began working on the problem.
So it turned out that you had no idea what you were doing as you had properly predicted. Your embarrassed chatter as you tried to defend your thinking made Shouto laugh as he shifted closer to you. That was a mistake, his chest pressed softly against your back, and his voice was a whisper in your ear.
Your stomach began to tangle into a knot as he explained what to do.
His arm was on the table; his pencil pointing and writing in what you were doing wrong.
This was a mistake.
You couldn’t focus.
Shouto’s voice was soft and spun in your mind. His body pressed too sweetly against yours, so you found yourself staring at him instead of the paper.
The math was long forgotten in your mind as you stared at his face, your eyes flicker to his lips and you feel drawn in. You wanted nothing more than to grab the collar of his t-shirt and press a scorching kiss to his mouth.
Would Shouto let you?
Would he let you kiss him silly? Let you ruin a friendship that the two of you had worked so hard to sustain?
Could you ruin it all and love like fools?
“The math problem isn’t on my face, y/n.”
Your eyes widen as you jump startled, you whip back around towards the problem in front of you. Your cheeks blazing as you mumble an apology. Why you had suddenly shied away, you had no idea. The need for you to confess your feelings had never felt this important. It had never made you feel out of breath as you were now.
“Why were you staring at me? Was I not explaining it well enough?”
“No, you were, sorry! I spaced out, can you explain again, please? I’m so sorry!”
Shouto chuckles as he nods, his eyebrows raise as he motions back to the paper. You concentrate this time as he explains it to you. His body leaning onto yours as you did another sample problem, and it clicked.
Your arms shot up in excitement as you celebrated this unlocked knowledge. Twisting around you threw your arms around Shouto’s neck. You were very excited as words spilled from your mouth as you tackled him to the ground.
His words were kind to you, congratulating you on successfully getting the answer. You felt his hands dragging up and down your spine in fluid movements, and you push away. Your hands planted by his head as you grinned.
It was then you realized the predicament of your position, and your joy died as you stared down at his soft gaze.
Shouto’s hand raised as he tucked a few pieces of hair out of your face and you trembled slightly.
“I knew you would be able to get it,” he whispers to you. His smile remained proud on his face as you gulped nervously.
Speak up now.
Your lips part and Shouto’s eyes fall down to your lips.
The drumming sound of your heartbeat in your ears and the rushing sound of the blood makes you bite down on your lip.
You let out a shaky breath, your shoulders tense as you lean down closer. You were ready to put yourself out there and you were going dizzy as he stretched up. You’re ready to kiss Shouto, to finally be able to confess your feelings for the boy who held your heart.
The space between the two of you is diminishing, and you watch as his eyes shut tightly. His breathing hits your face. The warm air fans against your skin in a way that makes a shiver go down your spine.
Centimeters are left and you feel your mouth ghost against his.
“Yo, Todoroki, do you have my manga-- oh my god!”
Sero’s voice cuts through the fog that had been placed over the two of you. You tumble off of Shouto’s lap, your knee banging against the table and you curse as Shouto sits up.
“I can totally come back later, bro! Lock your door next time though!” Sero laughs, his cheeks reddening as you push yourself to your feet.
“It’s fine,” Shouto waves him off as he stands. “You weren’t interrupting anything. Which manga did you need?”
Those words stab at your hammering heart and your eyes fall to the abandoned calculus textbook on the table. Sero wasn’t interrupting anything? The room is awkwardly stiff as Shouto finds the manga volume that Sero had come to find.
“Alright, thanks, man!” Sero chirps as he grabs the manga volume from Shouto. “I’ll, uh, leave you two to it! Just so you know, that the walls aren’t that thick? I can hear things when you’re being louder than normal volume.”
Your eyes fall to Sero’s retreating figure as Shouto is walking him out. “No need to worry,” you say as you take your notebook and textbook in your hand. “I’m actually done for the night, so um, goodnight Sero-kun, Todoroki.” You curtly nod as you push through the two friends.
“Y/n?” Shouto calls for you, and you can feel that his hand just missed your wrist. You don’t look back though; your feelings stupidly hurt as you choose to wave and continue down the hall.
Racing down the staircase, you opened the door to the fourth floor. Your brows were furrowed as you opened the door to your room. Turning on the light, you entered the room. Placing your study materials onto your desk, you picked up your phone.
Whenever you studied with Shouto you never brought your phone with you. That was because you never got bored or had the temptation to be on it around him.
Opening the messaging app, you looked at the sent messages. They were betting on how tonight would be the night something happened.
mina: no offense ladies but if he doesnt make a move on y/n soon ill literally date her instead
tsu: I thought you had a thing for todoroki though?
mina: I can’t make moves on him now!!!!!!
you: something almost happened but lol no
jirou: f
uraraka: f
momo: Oh no, what happened?
you: sero came over when we were about to kiss & my feelings got hurt LOL so i left
hagakure: i was gonna say!!!!!!! She’s typically in his room until 2 am!!!!! How do we know they’re not dating, that’s all i have to say about it
you: :/ i really almost got a kissed and then he said he wasn’t doing anything important
uraraka: oh on :( i can float his bed out of the earth?
mina: do you want a hug??????
you: nah, it’s okay i was probably forcing myself onto him anyways & i would like a hug rn :(
It took three seconds and then there was a knock on the door.
Your eyes flickered over to the door and you were confused.
When did Mina ever knock?
Walking over, you opened the door and came face to chest with Shouto.
“S-Shouto?!” You squeak as you stare up at the boy. His eyes are wide, almost frantic as if there was a major realization within him. “Are you okay?” You ask, your hurt feelings ignored.
“You like me.” He asserts.
“Excuse me?!”
“I like you, too,” Shouto says as he shakes his head, his fingers running through his hair. “I fucking like you, y/n. I had always assumed that you didn’t have feelings for me, but you almost kissed me and--”
You silenced him by pressing your lips against his.
Your lips glided against his own, the smooth friction of your dancing lips made your heart pound. You were on your tiptoes as you kissed him, and Shouto’s arms wrapped around your waist. He drew you nearer and you grasped at his collar.
Fireworks exploded in your mind, and electricity danced between your lips.
Shouto’s head tilts to the right, allowing deeper access to his moving lips. You let out a small gasp as your mind spins. It’s overwhelming you, and you want even more. Your arms move to wrap around his neck as he hums softly against your mouth.
“Ya know, I was trying to comfort my best friend, but I feel like someone beat me to it,” Mina sighs and you break apart from Shouto. Your lips feel numb with pleasure, your eyes finding it hard to focus. “Seems like you both have stopped being weird about this?”
“Mina…” you whisper embarrassed. Shouto doesn’t pull away from you, and your arms remain around his neck.
“Remember if you’re going to be freaky, move the bed to the center of the room!” Mina teases as she sends the two of you a wink. “Have fun, lovebirds.” With that, she left.
“Lovebirds,” Shouto repeats. “Does that mean I can ask you to be my girlfriend?”
The grin that twists onto your face sends butterflies to his stomach as you nod.
“It does,” you affirm as you touch your mouth back against his. Shouto returns the kiss as eagerly as the two of you walk blindly into your room. Your lips never once disconnecting.

Life’s Different Now| Modern! Kakashi
Part 6/?
Part 1| ... | Part 7
Summary: MC’s plans get shuffled around when she can no longer go home for the night. This leads her and Kakashi to going out and about and ending back up at his place. Kinda angsty. Kinda long. This is the shit y’all been waiting for.
“Okay, so I got you two extra shots just to make sure that you’ll make it through your last final.” you offered with a small smirk as you sat the coffee up on Kakashi’s desk.
Glancing away from his laptop, he gave a small frown. “I thought it was my turn to pay?” he questioned though he knew the answer. There were many times where he forgot, but this time he was certain that he was already two macchiatos in debt to you.
You confirmed his suspicion. “It was, but I’m not the one who has to grade 200 finals within a week, that’s you.” you reminded him, your smirk shifting to a gentler smile as you nudged the cup closer to him. “Best I could do was a quad shot.” Leaning back in his chair, he rubbed his eyes, exhaustion heavily influencing every single one of his moves. Holding his hands on top of his head, he gave it a shake as he looked to you for answers that you did not have. “Every 5 minutes, there’s another email from a student asking for extra credit.” he breathed. “And I haven’t even finished writing the ochem final and they’re taking it in…” he tried as he looked at his watch.
“35 minutes….” you affirmed.
“Fuck.”
You gave a reassuring smile. It was rare that Kakashi ever looked truly stressed, but you could now feel the strain that was placed on him as he now hastily tried to finish the exam. “I’m going to let you go; I’ll come back after you’re done, make sure you survived.” you offered, keeping you soft smile before quietly leaving the office.
You spent the next few hours completing the final adjustments to the plans that were going to be presented next week to the college officials for their approval. It was the last round of approvals and if everything went well, then demolition would start within the following weeks. By some miracle you and your team were on time as the college had wanted to start the demolition portion of the remodel in the summer, and it was spring finals week. Things were actually going to plan in your life; something that seldom ever happened. The time passed quickly as you added the final touches to the schematic and it took the blare of an alarm to bring you back into the present moment.  Along with the pull back into reality, the chime brought the reminder that you had to check on an exhausted professor.
And so, just as you had done earlier, you made your way up to Kakashi’s office, though by this time, the hallways were no longer filled with exhausted students. They were abandoned, and the only remnants were an absurd amount of coffee cups. As you stepped through the now familiar heavy metal door, you had expected to find Kakashi nearly defeated in his office, yet as you entered the vacant lab, you were quickly redirected back toward the door.
Before you could say anything, there was a hand on your back, giving a gentle push towards the exit. “We need to go before they find me and beg.” he explained briefly, almost as if he were prey. As he guided you out, you took note that he already had his coat and bag on, indicating that he had been waiting for you to show up before he made his escape for the semester.
A small chuckle escaped you. Looked like that quad shot hit him just in time. “Can’t have those pesky undergrads getting ya, can we?”
His pace was quick as he shook his head and began his descent down the stairs. “No, cause I made half the test synthesis problems, and it made at least 3 cry in class. Didn’t mean to but…” he trailed for a moment, unsure of how much guilt he should have felt. “It’s fine, I’ll just curve it.” he murmured. “Let’s not focus on that.”
The pair of you began to talk about other things as you walked through campus, the same empty atmosphere evident throughout its entirety. Minor things filled the air, nothing of too high importance. It wasn’t until you felt your phone vibrate that anything of sustenance came up in conversation.
“Oh, that son of a…” you muttered as you read the text, an annoyed pout upon your face. You would have completed the phrase, but that would have casted down your own mother, so you kept the annoyance on the one who sent the text.
“Hm?”
Closing your phone, you took a deep breath. Stuffing your hands into the pockets of your jacket, you shook your head. “You have plans tonight, besides of course crashing from a caffeine overload?” you asked before giving him an explanation to your curse.
He raised an eyebrow at your sudden bounce of expression, “Nothing in mind, why?”
“Shisui’s bringing someone over tonight, which loosely translates into I need to find somewhere else to be for the night.” you explained. “Having your little sister in the same house as your friends with benefits is really a buzzkill, ya know.” you let out a half chuckle.
“Sounds like this has happened before?” he continued, the two of you nearly in the parking garage.
“Psh,” you retorted. “It’s Shisui, you know.” you offered with a shrug. “Love him, but he’s a mess some days, and today is one of those days.” you spoke with a gentle smile on your face. “But…” you began again, “This gives us time to celebrate that you made it through this hell of a semester.” you laughed. “C’mon, we can make it to happy hours still. Drinks are on me.” you chimed.
“I already owe you at least 20 bucks in coffee…” he reminded you.
You shrugged and jokingly rolled your eyes, “I mean, if you insist, you can pay for the alcohol.” you kept your voice light.  Approaching your car, you nodded. “C’mon, I can drive there. Like you said, you don’t have anything to do tonight, and you’re gonna curve those tests anyways, so….” you trailed, a smirk never leaving your face.
He copied that sly smirk, “Ok, you got me.”
“Wow, I just peer pressured a doctor into drinking, I’m really moving up in the world.” you mocked as you unlocked the car. Though the contentment of the moment was fleeting as the pair of you opened the doors and began to get in, only to find a remnant of what now felt like a past life was placed in the passenger seat. Instantly seeing the package you should have already mailed, you sighed. “Oh gosh, uh, lemme grab that.” you offered as you picked up the small package wrapped in gold.
Reading into your reaction more than he should have, Kakashi apologized. “Sorry, didn’t mean to-
“No, no, no. Don’t be. It’s uh…” you let out a small chuckle. “It’s a birthday gift for my ex’s baby. She’s my goddaughter and she turns one in a few weeks, and I thought I was going to be there, and…” you trailed for a second, a tinge of sadness making itself evident. “And obviously things changed, and I’m not, so…”  you gave a small sigh as you patted the box and placed it in the back seat, guilt creeping in.
There was quite a bit loaded in what you had just said. Things that Kakashi had never heard you talk about before, so he wasn’t even quite sure what to follow with. To add on, he wasn’t sure how much you would want to answer, so he offered a superficial question as the pair of you got into the car. “What’s her name?”
“Opal.” you smiled, giving in to a more lighthearted tone. “It was a little weird when he asked me to be the godmother, but it was an amicable break up and he ended up marrying one of my best friends a few years later. They said I was the most, “stable,” friend out of our group,  so how could I say, ‘no?’” you trailed, feeling as if you had failed them for leaving.
“You miss them. Don't you?”
“Of course I miss them.” you pushed away some of the quietness. “I mean, I missed you all too when I was over there.” you countered as you started to leave the parking garage. “That’s just the unfair thing when you’ve led two different stories, no matter where you go, you're going to miss at least half of the people you’ve come to know and love…” you shrugged. The sense of loss was evident, though you tried to bring back levity into the conversation. “Anyways, enough with this, we’re going to celebrate you. I’ll take you to all the artsy bars me and the architects go to.”
***
“You’re a wreck,” Kakashi genuinely laughed as he held your hand going up the stairs to his apartment.
Already red faced from the alcohol, your color darkened as you looked up to him, “Stop, you’re being mean.” you retorted. “I’m not that bad, I just didn’t eat and tried to go toe to toe with you and that was a mistake, and I admit that.” you said, keeping your grip tight on his hand has he led you up the darkened stairwell.
“So you could go up these stairs by yourself?”
“Oh no,” you lied. “Please don’t let go of me.”
He shook his head, but couldn’t shake the smile off his face. He was nearly positive there was some party gene in your generation. Obito had it. Shisui had it. Itachi even had it at times. And you certainly had it. Yet he didn’t mind it; never knew what would happen when he was out and about with you. Placing his other hand on your waist, he guided you up the final flight of stairs that led to his apartment. You weren’t as off balance as he had expected, though he wasn’t going to question it. Pulling out his keys, he shrugged, “I’d apologize for the mess, but I saw the mess you left the patio during demolition,” he offered, the alcohol making it easier to talk.
You laughed, “Rude. At least I make things pretty in the end.”
Opening the door to the apartment, Kakashi switched the lights, making up the sun that had set long ago. Motioning for you to enter, he welcomed you in. “I can get you something to eat if you want, but if you want to keep drinking, we can always do that too.”
Spinning around to see him, you raised an eyebrow at him, “Wow, I was the one who started out with the peer pressure, but look at you! I’m so proud,” you remarked, placing a hand on his shoulder.
“I mean, I’ve had you as a role model.”
Covering your face at the quip, you blinked at him a few times before replying. “You know you’re cute when you banter,” you admitted without really thinking.
“Hm?”
Turning back so you faced the apartment, you looked around. “Uh, anyways,” you diverted the conversation. The only real mess was on the dining room table. There, in probably the messiest piles you'd seen in a while, were just countless photos. “What’s going on here?” you asked, partially interested and partially wanting to avoid the truth you just admitted.
Following you to the table, Kakashi picked up one of the photos. “Rin gave me the job of picking out some old photos from when everyone was little for the wedding.” he answered. “A lot of them were actually taken by you- Shisui found your SD cards months before you came back.”
You nodded silently. This was something that you would have been more than happy to do, but by the time it was assigned, you weren’t home and had no intentions of coming home, so you lost out on the opportunity. Sitting down at the table, you shifted through some of the photos. Gasping as you caught a glimpse of one, your brief sadness dissipated. “Oh my gosh, look how little you and Obito were,” you fawned as you flipped the picture to see the year. Instantly seeing the date, you gasped again and shook your head as you pointed to Kakashi, “This was the year that Obito was a little shit to me, Shisui, AND Itachi. I don’t remember what got into him, but he was such a jackass this year.” you could help but laugh.
“What?” Kakashi chuckled as he joined you, wanting to know what his best friend did to cause such a grudge in you.
“Lemme see if I can find a picture from that year…” you murmured as you quickly sprawled through the pile. “Here!” you exclaimed as you pulled out a photo of the four cousins and handed it to Kakashi. “This is from the holiday party that year. Within two months, Obito had accidently broken Shisui’s arm by pushing him down a flight of stairs while standing in a bin, gave Itachi a concussion by tackling him into a wall during a game, and he had knocked out three of my baby teeth and broke my nose because he had thrown a pumpkin at me during Halloween. Pretty sure I ruined the sweater he was wearing in the other picture, because my face would literally not stop bleeding and he was trying to calm me down.” you told him, now laughing at a time where all three of you wanted to end the eldest of you. “My parents were watching Itachi at the time too and were about to start sending Obito’s parents the ER bills.” you smiled.
“I thought your side of the family was the one that had everything together?”
“Oh no, all four of us were- and still are- complete disasters,” you stated. “It’s just what type of disaster do you want to deal with.”
“And what type of disaster are you?”
Again, you could feel your cheeks becoming redder, but you were hoping that the glow for the alcohol would cover up most of it. Setting down the photo, you stood up to get a glass of water. “Uh, I’m the type of disaster that doesn’t know what she’s doing and is constantly floundering around.” you answered, as you grabbed both your glass of water and Kakashi’s hand and took both to the couch.
He narrowed his eyes at the statement, questioning its validity. “What are you talking about? You know it looks like you know what you’re doing?”
You rolled your eyes at him. “Let’s not forget that there wasn’t even two weeks between me deciding to move back here and me showing up that night…” you started. “And, I’ve been back, what? Almost six months now, and I still don’t know if it’s the right decision.” you admitted a painful truth hidden behind a chuckle.
Yet you should have known there was no use hiding things from him; he was too perceptive of those around him when he wanted to be. A bit of confusion was apparent in his expression, not yet having realized that you had struggled with this for nearly half a year. “If you didn’t want to come back, then why did you?” he questioned.
You took a deep breath and let your head fall back against the couch, knowing the reason wasn’t well thought out. “Shisui asked.” you answered before diverting your eye contact. “I wasn’t originally planning to come back until he asked…” you admitted as you took a sip of water- now wishing that you had poured a glass of wine.
There was a small moment of silence before he asked a follow up. Kakashi was very well aware that your brother was one of your closest companions, but for you to just get up and leave a life where you were so successful on a simple request, didn’t quite make sense. “Why did you leave here in the first place then?”
You drew your lips into a straight line. If it hadn’t been for the multiple drinks in your system, you wouldn’t have given a true answer and would have ended this conversation there, but with alcohol came honesty. “Um, well I needed to prove that I could be my own person- that I could survive, alone.” you breathed out.
He narrowed his eyes, not quite understanding the depth of your statement.
“Don’t look at me like that.” you frowned. “You know what I’m talking about. When you first met me, and even up until a few years ago, what did you associate me with.”
He shrugged. “Obito’s cousin. You were one of the Uchiha kids, always with Shisui and Itachi.”
“Exactly. Most people think that. And there’s nothing wrong with being associated with the boys. I’m not saying they’re bad or anything of the sorts. I’d do anything for any of those three, but…” your voice fell again, unable to exactly pinpoint your feelings. “Sometimes, I just… I didn’t have a complete identity growing up. It was always a partial one, because it was always me and Itachi or me and Shisui, and I just… I love them all, but I needed to prove that I was more than just a part of a duo or trio- I still feel like I need to prove it...”
“Prove it to who?”
You became silent. “Everyone? Myself?” you gave up, though you didn’t know the true answer.
“I never thought that you weren’t a whole person though? I don’t see you as just an Uchiha kid?”
You frowned, “But if we’re honest, you probably did until 2 or 3 years ago.”
Kakashi shook his head. “I didn’t really know you until 2 or 3 years ago, and then when I did get to know you, you’ve always been a distinct person.” he defended, secretly thanking the still trace amounts of alcohol in his system for allowing the truth.
The validation caused you to give a small smile. “I suppose, but you were also one of the few people who saw me overseas though…” you brought up a little known fact. “And over there, I was my own person. It’s just harder to be that here. Everyone sees me as an Uchiha and not as me...”
“Is that why you think we all stay around?” he questioned, a slight sense of distraught evident.
“I mean…” you shrugged. “I don’t know?”
“I’m staying around you, because of you. Not because you’re Obito’s cousin.” he affirmed.
You shrugged again, not knowing what to say. “I just… I don’t know.”
“Y/N.”
“What?”
“I want to be around you, because of you. You’re smart and capable and one of the most caring people I’ve ever met. I don’t think there’s anyone else that I know that would have dropped everything and flew halfway across the world in the matter of a few hours to be there for one of their friends. That’s the first reason why I wanted to know you more. You’re more than a last name or your family, you’re you and…” he trailed for a moment, knowing that he rambled- something that he never did. “And I thought we had something?”
“We did…” you affirmed. “We do…”  you corrected. “I’m just…I’m terrified of just being an accessory to someone else…” you frowned.
“You won’t be an accessory…” he tried. Bringing a hand up to your face he tried to reason with you. “Before you said that this wasn’t an option because we weren’t aligned at that point in time. Now we are, so why not now…?”
Locking eyes with him, you could feel your heart pounding in both your chest and head. “You got me there…” you copied a phrase he had pulled on you only hours before.
“So…?”
You should have replied. You should have put your thoughts out into existence, but that had proved too hard before and it was doing the same now. And so, you did the easiest thing during that moment and leaned in quickly to kiss him, not wanting to talk anymore. Actions were louder than words anyways, right?
Cradling his face as you kissed him, urgently pulling him closer to you. While you would have liked to say that there hadn’t been any tension in your friendship since you had gotten back, that would have been a lie. There was a history between the two of you, a history that had been ignored up until now. Yet your choice to focus on action rather than voice proved to be understood. You could feel him reciprocating the same affection after getting over the initial shock of your immediate action.
Throughout the years, Kakashi had learned that there were some moments you were calculated and some moments you threw everything to the wind. He had played this scenario out in his head many times, and this was certainly a moment where Kakashi thought you would be calculated, but here you were in his lap, kissing him like you had years ago, and you were anything but. Maybe the alcohol rushed it. There were things you two should have talked of first, yet he wasn’t going to question it much. Truthfully, this conclusion was far better than he was expecting.
It was uncertain how long the initial kiss had lasted, but by the time you pulled away, you were nearly breathless. Still cradling him, you raised an eyebrow at him. “I honestly really like you, but you know I’m a fucking mess…?” you asked.
He let out a small laugh, his hand gently caressing your cheek. “Yeah, but aren’t we all…?” he muttered before pulling you close again.
The pair of you continued, but were startled apart by the ringing of his phone, which laid across on the opposite side of the couch. Instinctively, you looked over to find that it was Obito calling him, though your concern was quickly redirected.
“It’s fine, probably, ” Kakashi murmured, bringing you to face him again, so that the pair of you could resume.
Though that didn’t last long, for only a few moments later you were listening to your phone now start to chime. Again, you heard the phone ring and pulled back a second to take a glance at it. Seeing that it was Obito again, you frowned and looked to Kakashi. Resting your forehead against his, you sighed. “We should take that, shouldn’t we?” you murmured.
“It would be the right thing to do…” he murmured, his hand now caught up in your hair.
“I thought you were supposed to be the morally grey one…” you smirked before you grabbed your phone. “Hi, Obito,” you greeted as you remained sitting in Kakashi’s lap and turning the phone on speaker.
“Hey, hey, hey littlest cuz. How are you?” he nearly yelled into the phone, a loud background also encompassing the call.
“Oh, I’m peachy,” you offered, your eyes never unlocking with Kakashi’s. “Why are you calling? It’s 2 am on a Friday night? I was uh… going to do some things...” you trailed with a coy expression.
“UH SO,” he yelled again, causing both you and Kakashi to both pull away from the phone. “I’m uh, just like a little uh wasted at the bar downtown, like the one with three floors? And I was wondering if you would come and pick me up?” he asked.
“Have you tried an Uber?”“
“Right, uh, I’d have to wait two hours…”
“Have you tried Shisui? I don’t think he has any plans tonight?” you lied.
“Didn’t answer, and neither did Kakashi or Itachi and Rin’s on a night shift,” he explained. “C’mon baby cuz, you're the best cousin, and can you just pick me up this once? I’ll owe you, I promise.”
You silently sighed and looked to Kakashi, who also gave a small sigh. “I’ll get the keys,” he whispered to you.
You gave him a small pout before talking back into the phone. “Alright Obito, I’ll come get you, just wait. I’ll text you when we’re there.” you offered up before hanging up. “What a bastard…” you murmured, giving Kakashi one last kiss. “Are you sure you can drive?”  you questioned as you stood up.
He nodded. “Oh yeah, I'm fine. Let’s go get your drunk cousin.”
“You mean your drunk best friend?” you nearly snickered.
***
Getting downtown actually took quite a bit of time, causing a lot of understanding to be given to the ridiculous Uber times that surrounded this part of town. Not only did this give time for that understanding, but it also gave you time to sober up, at least slightly. And with that came the uncompromising thoughts of what did all of this mean and how did it all align with what you wanted. Did you want Kakashi? Of course, anyone in their right mind would want him. Yet how did that impact your own goals? You had only just begun to be seen as an individual, and were you willing to give all that up to be seen as the girlfriend of one of the prominent members of your social group? Part of you had wished that you could have just remained uninhibited, but that was not possible at the current moment. “Kakashi…” you began.
“Mmhmm?”
“What does this mean…?” you questioned.
He took a deep breath, unsure where you now stood now that you were gaining your inhibitions back. “What does it mean to you?”
“I….” you whispered, unable to put your feelings into words. If you had been given another 30 seconds, you probably would have been able to say something, but you weren’t allowed that time. “Oh shit, there on the corner.” you were distracted by the oldest of your generation.
It didn’t take Obito long to see your car and haphazardly walk over to you and climb into the back seat. “Hey, thanks, you’re my favorite, did you know- Oh hey, Kakashi! What are you doing here? Why didn’t you answer my call? Why are you with my cousin?” Obito rambled as he placed both hands on the front seats and peered forward.
“Those are all good questions.”
“Oh my God, are you two hooking up? Rin was fucking right-” he spoke up nearly excitedly.
“Obito-” you cut him short. “Stop. You’re drunk.” you interjected.
Letting go of the front seat, he let his back fall against his own seat. “Uh, sorry. I was talking to her about couples in the wedding and all that, and you know, I thought of you, and I’m gonna set you up with someone at the wedding, cuz.” he nodded, his eyes closed as his spiel went on.
“Obito-” you tried to stop him, but you should have known better than to quiet a drunken Obito.
Swatting the air, he shook his head, “No, no, hear me out. You’re cute-” he stopped for a second. “That sounded weird cause we’re related, but like in a cousin way you’re cute, but like I’m also gonna set you up, because I think you should date someone. Like- don’t tell the others but you are the best relationship material out of us all. And like I was talking to Rin, and she was like thinking that you two were cute together, but like, I dunno, but she thought that, and at first I was like, I guess, but now I see it- and oh maybe I’ll set you two up?”
“Obito, please-”
“No, Y/N, trust me, you could be great-”
“Obito, I got it, but I just.” you snapped a bit harsher, before following up with a near whisper, a whisper that was directed to the other in the car. “ I just need to be my own person for a while…”

Class Impressions after Week 1
I’ve been rambling for a few days now about my classes, but never actually made a post about what I’m taking this semester because I wanted to wait until I’d actually taken a few classes to give you my full thoughts on the situation. So here’s that now! I made it through week 1! Idk if anyone’s going to read this whole thing because it got long, so details are under the cut
TL;DR:
Accounting - ugh
Ochem - not bad yet
Physics - My TA is cool but it’s a ton of work
Material and Energy Balance (CHE 31) - idek dude
The textbook portals: a racket
Work: great!
overall workload: not bad! It’s just exhausting in conjunction with work and I’m bemoaning the lack of free time
QOTD: What classes are you taking this school year/semester? Which one are you most excited for?
Accounting: A requirement for my business minor, and alternate to the usual class that I’d need since that didn’t fit in the schedule I made last semester in February that assumed we would actually be on campus. It’s a lot of attention to detail (something I’m not great at) and vocabulary which is kind of frustrating because I’m much better at conceptual stuff. The professor is an adjunct and attorney who’s never taught this before, and she’s a piece of work.
She assigned homework for the Sunday night prior to the start of school and launched straight into the first chapter within 5 minutes of opening our first class. Assigned chapter 2 homework for tonight, I was halfway through panic starting it because last I checked it was due Sunday, and it turns out it’s due next Sunday. I will inevitably miss assignments because she can’t keep a schedule or inevitably become paranoid and do all the work weeks in advance and I’m not looking forward to either of those things. Please let me go back to marketing.
Orgo Chem Class: The professor and TAs seem nice enough and went over syllabi in class yesterday, but then in the first recitation handed us a problem set with completely new information and go “this is review.” I’ve been studying on my own in khan academy so it was fine, but still. hmmmmmmmmmm. hoping it gets better once they start teaching. I’ve heard this class is supposed to be tough in general but I like it so far. I really like skeletal structures.
Orgo Chem Lab: my uni does something really weird where labs are a separate class from the class they go with, and have their own profs, but this one seems nice and she gets assignments posted early. The first 3 weeks are intros, safety, and basics, so it looks like the class will actually be pretty interesting and relatively easy!
Physics E&M: The professor is nice and explains the conceptual material really well but he doesn’t do example problems. Also perpetually late in giving us syllabi and schedules and I expect he’ll be late on giving back grades too, No curve, but most students have historically earned an A or B so I have high hopes for this class, even if it will be a ton of work - with a class or recitation every day of the week and different homework due every day.
Physics E&M lab: Not bad so far! We’re using simulators to understand the concepts and I really like this prof since he’s pretty chill. The lab write ups take a while but they aren’t difficult or frustrating, just tedious so that’s fine.
CHE 31: Fun fact: this was supposed to be the first chemical engineer class I took at uni, but because I was ahead on credits, I took Fluid Mechanics first. This isn’t a prereq though, so I thought that would be fine, but my professor kept saying “You learned this in 31″ so I’m HOPING that the fluids experience is going to help here.
I’ve heard this is a tough class, and there’s two professors co-teaching it (which in my past experience, goes poorly), so I’m very anxious to see how this goes. The first professor (who I’ll call G) rambles endlessly so it’s easy to get distracted and we haven’t actually learned anything besides “units are important” so we’ll see how this turns out
Connect textbook portal: Won’t let me hide the assignments I’m already done with which is getting to be a pain when there’s like... 27 of them stacked on top of one another and I only need to do two tonight but can’t figure out which ones.
Work: I really like my new position so far! Getting my projects Monday, and I’m currently doing about 18-20 hours a week, though I can go up to 25. Still making a good paycheck and learning a lot, but it’s a lot to manage with the classes too.
Overall I have high hopes for this semester! Without as many distractions as being home, I should hopefully be able to focus a little better. Wish me luck!

Spring ‘20 Semester Reflection
Hi everyone! So, I’m trying to make it a routine to reflect after every semester on this blog so 1) I can keep you guys updated on my trials and tribulations and 2) although I reflect with my advisors, its a nice to put it in writing and have something to refer to when the next semester comes!
This post is going to be broken into 3 pieces:
explaining how i implemented my “places for improvement” outlined in my Fall ‘19 reflection in Spring ‘20
talking about my highlights this past semester
outlining my “places for improvement” for Fall 2020
Let’s get started!
How I implemented my “places for improvement” outlined in my Fall ‘19 Reflection
improvement number one: falling off around the second round of midterms
Hm, this time around, I don’t think that happened. The way I nipped this in the bud was by pacing myself more at the beginning so I didn’t burn out by week 9. Last semester, I was on a constant push to redeem myself since I was making up two classes, but this semester was more of just trying to improve overall. I was also excited because I was finally able to move onto classes that were more interesting to me!
improvement number two: not doing well on a single test in ChE 200 because of not dedicating enough time to it
Well, this honestly repeated itself into spring ‘20 with ochem. but, I’m trying to give myself some grace considering my professor’s tests were ridiculously harder than the other professors’ exams. he even said that he makes his tests EXTREMELY hard. I only got a passing grade on one test, HOWEVER, considering I didn’t do well on any tests in ChE 200...this is some improvement. I tried to equally divide my time up this semester between classes and it seems like it paid off more. It’s just hard to find that balance when you’re in 4 classes at once. Even as i go into my 4th year, it is still something I’m trying to figure out. [note: will reflect on ochem later in the post]
Highlights
dealing with faculty (self-advocacy, building relationships, etc)
My thermo professor wasn’t that great this semester, and he never returned assignments or told us what grades we had until he submitted final grades. when I saw that I got a ‘C’, I emailed him and asked for an assignment-by-assignment breakdown of how I got a C. after some deliberation, he changed my final grade to a B! I was so proud of myself; instead of letting it slide, I challenged him and got what I deserved: a B. This was a big step for me, especially because I need my GPA to go up a bit for grad school apps (which I’ll be starting next fall) and I just knew he was in the wrong.
I, also, was able to start building a relationship with my current faculty mentor by taking a leap of faith! McNair was definitely a push for this, but I’m still glad I did it. I went to her office hours, nervous as hell, but she was so sweet and I found someone who shares the same passion as me. Now, I’m a research assistant in her lab. Its amazing.
taking a class outside of my comfort zone
To keep it 100 with anyone who reads this, these STEM classes can get monotonous and dry. So, forcing myself to take a class that wasn’t STEM was so nice and enlightening! I learned so much about how families manage resources, how their management style affects how they make decisions, and the like. It was so refreshing and it was nice to have a class to turn to when I needed a break that wasn’t so taxing. see, GEs aren’t always bad! lol
Places for Improvement
Implementing a Bloom’s Taxonomy focused study method
My ochem professor was just cruel. Idk what else there is to say about him without getting redundant, but he intentionally made his tests and quizzes impossible. I did the best I could, which resulted in me not passing by 4% (I opted for CR/NC so my GPA wouldn’t be affected). Early in the semester, I asked him for study tips and he said learn concepts and study from the book, which is what I was doing, but that was just bullshit advice. THEN, at the end of the semester, he gave this GREAT study method to use that was more centered around like.. Bloom’s Taxonomy language and it can apply to any class! It’s exciting because now, when I retake it, I can apply this method and I’ll do better (especially because I’ll have an easier professor). I’ll make a masterpost on this soon, as it was really eye-opening for me and made me realize small holes in my study plan.
Needing to find more balance b/w school and personal life
okay, COVID rocked my jaw and messed up my flow. as soon as we transitioned to online classes, it made it hard for me to separate class from home, and put me into constant work mode ?? so, next semester, i want to find that balance of working a little bit then relaxing or doing what i love. its funny because I had balance in Fall ‘19 and then it basically disappeared Spring ‘20. We got this next semester though, because balance is the major key *cue DJ Khaled adlibs*
Summary
Spring semesters seem to be my weak point, but this semester was a rollercoaster. Not only due to COVID, but just nothing seemed constant this past semester. But they always say that the only constant in life is change! I enjoyed this semester; I made more close friends in my major, I finished my last semester as a SWE officer and I transitioned from a more industry focused drive to more research based. It’s been a good one and I can’t wait for Fall!

4, 26, 30, 85
4. Last song you listened to
Spirit - Majid Jordan (not that anyone asked but my fave part of that song is 1:46-1:52)
26. Favorite tumblr blog?
oooofff well I don’t have just one but I love these people and I talk to them the most: @sunnybeam @sub5orbust @casshamm
30. Do you study better with our without music?
With! It’s my way of blocking the world out and focusing. Also when I was in college, I ranged from listening to upbeat playlists, my throwback playlist, and my instrumental playlist. Usually the upbeat/throwback I played when I did more math based things like ochem, and the instrumental is good for when I had to write lab reports or just do a bunch of writing.
85. What do you wear to bed?
t-shirt and pj shorts in the summer, t-shirt or sweater and pj pants winter
thank you 😊

Update on My Goals for Last Week (9/16-9/22)
Hi, everyone. Happy Sunday!
I know I said the update would be given on Friday, but I was so busy with work, it completely slipped my mind. Let's see how many of my goals I was successful at.... and how many I failed.
Academic Goals for Last Week:
study for ochem 2 exam
finish assignment for bio class
write essay for English course
complete lab quiz for physics
I was able to do all of these and more! It was a really good week for me, academically, I spent a lot of time dedicated to studying, and attended all of my classes.
Fitness Goals for Last Week:
work out every day (two leg days, two arm and back days, other days some type of cardio)
Complete my 10k steps every day
So, I worked out only 3 days this week, meaning I missed one of my arm and back days and my cardio days. Ever since the Fall semester started, the gym has been very busy, meaning I haven't really felt too inclined to go, but I think I've found a time slot that isn't too bad, population wise, and this week, I'll hopefully be able to complete my four day lifting split and my cardio days. As for the 10k steps, my Fitbit is completely dead! I need to find my charger. Overall, this week's fitness goals were NOT complete. :/ Hoping this upcoming week is much better.
Nutrition Goals for Last Week:
eat homecooked lunches all week except Friday (Friday's are my special treat day).
track protein, eat enough protein
try to eat more greens!
I was absolutely NOT successful, and I am very disappointed in myself. This week was really busy work and school wise, so I ended up eating out almost three times, and only once was it something actually nutritious (well as nutritious as fast food can be). It was a complete fail.
Goal Summary:
Overall, this week, I really excelled academically, fitness I did alright, but nutrition was absolute TRASH. I'm hoping for this upcoming week (9/23), I'll do better.
I'll be uploading my goals for the week soon.
Thanks for reading,
-C

January 23 2018
I haven’t been updating as usual as I want to because I got a little busy :C So im taking a little time to do so nowww
I have been feeling very behind in genetics and ochem because the lab reports for chem lab take such a long time. like honestly there are four write ups due every week basically it’s such a killer
enrollment times are out though and I got one of the earliest times for my class eligibility! apparently i have senior standing but im noooo where near graduation so it’s such a shallow label.
My roommates and I (alone with one of my roommates from last year and two other girls) are PRAYING for a good room sign-up time so we can secure a spot in the University apartment we REALLY REALLY WANT. Studybuddy and his friends are also trying to get into that apartment for next year as well, so the idEAL situation is that we are apartment neighbors but in reality we are just competing against them for a spot. let us take a moment to pray because i really want this apartment space but i also want to live close to studybuddy again :C
anyways yeah that’s my life how is yours?

may i request a continuation of the Mob!AU :'DD congrats on 200 followers!!!!!🎉🎉💖💖
Part I
“And a final thing,” Professor Garrack announces, neck craned up to stare at the balcony of the lecture hall. “If you are prone to sudden, life altering emergencies come time for finals, you might be better suited for another class. I require obituary clippings for tragic deaths of distant Aunts, hospital bills for rare and sudden illness, and pictures if you are whisked off by some fair Prince to a far off land.”
The room packed with some two hundred students laughs awkwardly.
“Okay,” she waves her hand, turning back to her TA. “We’ll let out early today. Those who aren’t on the official roster yet, come plead your case. The rest of you are dismissed.”
The room bleeds from silence to white noise in seconds, shuffling shoes and zippers and raising voices complaining about syllabi and 8am labs.
From somewhere below, Yatsufusa calls out after them. “And remember to bring letters from your coaches if you are traveling this semester!”
Shirayuki lets the crowd move her, the slow ascent up the stairwell to the double doors breaking out into sticky late summer heat. Her thighs chafe under her skirts and she winces. She should have worn leggings.
Fishing her phone out of her bag, she finds a safe patch outside the traffic of students hustling towards their next class and pulls up her schedule.
“Jefferson.” She bites her lip. It sounds familiar, but she’s can’t remember where she’s seen it. Glancing down the college green at the long line of buildings, she returns to her phone, toggling over to the campus map. “Jefferson…”
“I believe it is the one down the way with the statue in front of it, ojou-san.”
Shirayuki squeaks, phone pressed to her chest between tight knuckles, looking up and up and up until she meets the face of the man currently shading her from the sun. He doesn’t look like anyone she’s met in any of her classes.
“Oh!” She laughs nervously. “That makes sense. Thank you!”
His smile is slow, all white teeth and eyes that remind her of the great cats they studied last semester in Zoology. It makes the hair on the back of her neck stand on end.
“Let me walk you to class,” he offers.
“That’s alright,” she says, tucking her phone into her bag and turning away. She commits a description to memory. Just over six feet tall. Approximately 160lbs. Lean build. Asian, maybe. Short unkempt hair. Scar above the left eye. Clothes: All black.
And, most importantly, a thick leather coat with conspicuous bulge in humid 90 degree weather.
There’s no accounting for his longer legs. He keeps up with her without a problem. “I have class there, too,” he shrugs. “Might as well make a new friend on my way there.”
She doesn’t need a new friend, is what she wants to say.
The blast of A/C Shirayuki’s hits her hard, immediately cooling the sweat that makes her summer dress cling to her back. Glancing down the hall, there’s already a line for the elevators and she glances at her new tail out of the corner of her eye.
“The stairs aren’t safe, ojou-san,” he mutters when she turns down the hall towards the fire towers.
Her heart gives one solid pound, hand slipping back into her purse. “It’s faster,” she says, fingers slipping first to her panic button, and then to her taser. “I’m only on the fourth floor. Which room are you in? You should probably take the elevator.”
He eyes her, falling into step at her side. “Same,” he says, his voice far lighter than the hard edge of his eyes.
Shirayuki’s jaw tenses, pushing the heavy access door and quickly ascending the stairs. Her sandals echo loudly in the enclosed space, but she might as well be the only one here for all the noise he makes.
On the round between the third and fourth floor, she catches the sleeve of his jacket, throwing the weight of her leg behind his knee cap and slams him into the wall.
Her taser snaps threateningly just under his chin.
His palms are face out, leather gloved hands resting by his ears and a smile that looks more like a grimace spread across his face. “Why ojou-san,” he says lightly. “You should at least take me out to coffee first.”
She hates coffee. “If Shenazard sent you, my answer still stands.”
He laughs, an airy thing. “I can’t imagine he didn’t get the message,” he agrees, the affects of higher society dropping from his voice so she can only hear the street in him. “Made a wig for some trick to wear from the present you sent him, last I heard.”
Shirayuki raises the current closer, electricity snapping between them. He lifts his chin. “Who are you?”
“You can call me Obi,” he winks. “I have many aliases and secrets.”
Her lips thin. “I’m sure you do. If Shenarzard didn’t send you, was it the Wisterias? I already told Izana-”
Obi laughs again, far too comfortable with the concept of 50,000 volts being held to his head to be anything but the worst sort of thug. “Did you really think,” he purrs. “After the incident with Raji that your father would leave you unprotected?”
Her arm slacks. “My father?”
Her vision spins, back landing hard against cold concrete and she gasps, caught between a very firm body and the wall. His knee is wedged between her legs, wrist pinned, taser freed from her grip. Obi wags the thing in front of her tauntingly.
“And he’s right. You are far too trusting.” He clicks it back off, the ominous tapping immediately coming to a halt, and he slides it back into her purse. “Shouldn’t have weapons on campus, ojou-san. What would campus police say?”
She glares. “They would probably have more to say about the guy following me that is carrying at least two guns.”
He has the nerve to looked pleased. “Ah, but another mark on my record won’t do anything to scuttle my dreams of being a doctor, unlike someone else in this stairway.”
Not that anyone would trust that face to be a doctor.
“Get off me,” she huffs, looking away. “I’m going to be late to class.”
The grin slips off of his face and Obi steps back, letting her slip by and she takes the stairs two by two. He doesn’t follow.
Shirayuki pauses at the top of the landing for the fourth floor, looking down at him looking up at her. “You’re going to keep shadowing me, aren’t you?”
His shrugs lazily. “Of course. It’s my job.”
Her shoulders drop. “Any chance I can convince you to go away?”
He honestly looks like he’s considering it. “Double your dad’s price and I’ll think about it.”
“Great,” she grumps, pushing open the fire doors. “So after residency, then.”
“I think this will really work out for us,” he calls, voice echoing. “We’ll be the best of friends!”
The door slams shut behind her.
~ ~ ~
Thunder roars overhead, sheets of rain filling the streets and turning the cracked pavement into a river. The edge of her shoes catch between ridges of concrete and she falls forward, the tell tale snap of the plastic thong breaking between her toes.
She heaves for air, arms braces against the ground and her lungs sting with every inhale. Pushing herself back up to her knees, she looks down at her muddy and torn dress; the rivlettes of blood mixed with rain dripping down her arm; the glock held tight in her hand. Her fingers ache from the cold.
Behind her, water runs under moving tires and she scrambles up, ducking into the shadows of an alleyway just as an old Toyota slip by.
Breath shaking out of her, she steps back onto the streets, looking towards the skyline to get her bearings. If she keeps running towards Sherazard tower, she just might-
Headlights flash bright against her back and she spins on her heels, raising Obi’s gun towards the black Lincoln only a stone’s throw away.
They can’t have found her. Not so soon-
“Shirayuki!”
~ ~ ~
She can feel his eyes boring holes into her back, the sole of his shoes tapping rapidly against the carpeted floor. He signs again for the eighth time this hour and she squints, focusing harder on her computer screen.
Bithil syndrome. Interesting but ultimately benign.Common mutations include excellent sight and hearing. Amber eyes. Fused coccyx.
That must be why he complains about his back if he sits too long.
Obi sigh loudly for the ninth time, bordering on whining. “Out of all the college girls in the world,” he grumbles. “I have to be paired with the only one that seems to be set on wasting her Friday nights in the library. Shouldn’t I be glowering at some drunk frat boy right now?”
She purses her lips, clicking out of the jstor article and switching back to her notes. “I’m not here to party,” she says quietly.
She hears his seat creek. “Oh? Is that because of a certain Wisteria that has been making eyes at you? Gotta have a squeaky clean career for a squeaky clean boyfriend?”
Her hackles rise, but she refuses to take the bait. “I came to college with the intention of not going into the family business. Zen has nothing to do with it.” She bothers to glance over at him. “And for the last time, we’re not dating.”
“You’ve been studying since lunch,” he gripes. “Your brain needs a break. And food! And fun! And maybe a little alcohol.”
“Later.” She doesn’t look away from her screen. “Girls don’t get to become doctors if they don’t know the products of the krebs cycle.”
Obi sighs like she’s being difficult. “1 GTP, 3 NADH, 1 FADH, and Regenerated oxaloacetate,” he rattles off, bored. Shirayuki is already staring at him when he levels her with a flat look. “Are you done making excuses now?”
She blinks rapidly. “How did you know that?” she asks softly.
Obi shrugs. “There’s a diagram outside your Ochem class.”
“And you remembered it?”
It’s his turn to be surprised. “What? Is it supposed to be hard to memorize that stuff?”
She turns back to her notes, numb. “Yea.”
~ ~ ~
Adrenaline has locked her into place, the light from the headlights filling her eyes until she can see nothing but white.
“Shirayuki,” the voice calls again, so gentle she can barely hear him over the rain. He’s coming closer; carefully, slowly. “It’s just me. Lower the gun, okay?”
“Mitsuhide?” she asks, her voice shaking between chattering teeth.
Warm hands come to rest over hers. “You’re not even holding it right,” he admonishes, slipping the safety on and extracting it from her grip. In the next moment, his jacket has been thrown over her shoulders. It goes all the way down to her knees.
“Let’s get you in the car.”
~ ~ ~
Obi is entirely too close, unraveling the scarf she has wrapped around her head in one smooth motion. She looks around, panicked, but no one is looking. No one but-
His face is incredibly soft, warm and calloused fingers slipping across her cheek, the smooth slide of metal sliding between her ear and scalp.
“I won that,” he grins, smoothing her hair back into place before re-wrapping her scarf. “I thought it would suit you better than me.”
She blinks, reaching up to touch a smooth, rounded surface, a feathery chain dangling down from the end of it. She swallows down the fluttery feeling in her gut. No one, especially not a man, had ever-
“Ah,” Obi is looking over her head now, that gentle expression completely washed off. “He got my message.”
Shirayuki frowns, following his line of vision and her jaw falls slack.
She’s never seen Zen like this, dressed down in casual street wear and beat up sneakers. He looks every bit a part of the crowd even as he stands out amongst it, frowning down at his phone and then looking around eagerly. Both Mitsuhide and Kiki have given him distance, standing a few paces away.
“What is he-?”
Obi sounds particularly pleased. “I texted your not-boyfriend. Said you’d be here,” he grins, watching Zen frown and squint into the festival with her. “Looks like he came.”
Shirayuki flushes to her ears.
“Show him that,” he winks, tapping the hairpin. “Tell him I gave it to you.”
And then Obi’s gone, disappeared into the crowd before she can ask him to stay.
~ ~ ~
“We’ve got her,” Kiki’s voice is cool, clipped into the phone as the car pulls back into the street. There’s a pause. “There’s some blood on her dress but I don’t think it’s hers. There’s no telling how long she was out in this weather.”
The heat is turned up to full, her legs tucked up under her and a blanket wrapped around her on top of Mitsuhide’s jacket wrapped. Needles pierce her skin as capillaries expand.
“Obi,” she whispers, teeth chattering. Then louder. “Obi.”
Kiki’s eyes flicker to hers through the rear view mirror.
“Obi,” she tries again, hoping that Kiki will understand and send up the alarm. “We have to get Obi. I left him passed out in the the warehouse district. He- he was shot and he’s lost a lot of blood I don’t know how much time we have left but-”
Kiki’s vision flickers to Mitsuhide and Shirayuki’s head snaps in his direction. Mitsuhide’s face is drawn tight.
“What’s wrong,” she demands. “What is it?”
“Shirayuki,” he begins in that tone she knows too well, that tone that doctors use when the surgery didn’t go according to plan; that tone when the prognosis is the last thing that anyone wants to be said.
“Tell me,” she breathes.
Mitsuhide’s hands come to rest on her shoulder. He looks her straight in the eye, and no- no no no no-
“The Claw has him.”

Life’s Different Now | Modern! Kakashi   2/?
Part 1| Part 2| Part 3|  Part 4| Part 5| Part 6
Summary: Small dinner at Shisui’s house getting prepped for a Obito and Rin’s wedding. MC’s job/adaption to being back is discussed and finds out that their latest project is with someone in particular.
*****
“‘Remodel my house, I got everything you need,’ he said,” you muttered to yourself as you tried to lower a circular saw onto the orange flat bed cart. “‘Except I have no power tools and only three screw drivers.’” you spat as you tried to move the wood planks over to better fit your newly acquired power tool. You had always been better at doing things with your hands than Shisui, but for him to only have three screwdrivers in his entire house left you nearly speechless and with a pricey credit card bill from Home Depot.
Brushing off the saw dust, you frowned knowing that you probably should have changed out of your work outfit before going to the hardware store, but oh well. Down the aisle, you could see Itachi coming toward you, a gallon of paint in each hand. “Can you tell me why you are getting paint for the main room if you haven’t even finished the kitchen?” he asked as he added the gallons to the cart.
“That paint’s actually for the kitchen and the main room. I’m ripping those terrible cabinets out this weekend and putting new ones in, but I’m going to paint them this black color and then have that color also as accents in the main room,” you offered as you tapped the cans with your foot. Despite your explanation, you could see the uncertainty in your cousin’s eyes. “You just gotta trust me on this. I promise it’ll look good.” you offered as you started to push the cart towards the front of the store. “We should also go before I spend more money on power tools though…”
“I was going to stop you if you tried.” he gave a small smile as he followed.
The two of you checked out and began your way back to Shisui’s place. You, along with some others in your friend circle were meeting tonight for dinner and to potentially discuss some of the logistics of Obito and Rin’s wedding. It wasn’t until the fall, but Obito was the first out of your generation in the family to get married, so it was a bit of a big deal, and the stronger that the core wedding party was, the less haggling you would get from more distant members.
Rin had also been given a stack of coupons from one of her patients that were for BOGO pizza and pasta at one of the local restaurants with no limitations, so you all were going to take advantage of that. Truthfully, that was the real reason for the dinner, but you were going to pretend like you were all functioning adults and have goals.
Pulling in front of the home, you could see two other cars already parked. You had yet to be able to match each car to its owner, so you were at a loss of who was actually home. Shrugging to Itachi as he took the keys out, you spoke. “Well, at least we’re not last,” you offered, stepping out of the car. Then looking over the top of the car, you scrunched your face at him, “I think if we ask nicely, we can get Shisui to unpack the car. You know, because…” you trailed off racking your brain to think of a reason to manipulate your brother into hauling everything in through the snow.
“Because we were already so thoughtful by going to Home Depot on a Friday to pick up his stuff,” Itachi offered, a small smirk upon his face as he locked the car. “It’s the least he could do.”
You copied his smirk as the pair of you started to walk to the front door. As you made your way in and took off all the layers necessary for the arctic temperatures that plagued you, a sweet voice called out to you.
“I heard you were back in the country, but I was wondering when I was finally going to get to see you again!” she laughed out.
“Rin!” you smiled as you went over to hug her. Giving her a tight squeeze, you continued your smile. “Where have you been and how on Earth were you able to skip out on all of the holiday parties?” you asked. “Please tell me how- the only way I had found was to be an ocean away.”
She rolled her eyes, “I was working, the hospital is so busy this time of year; it’s nearly impossible to leave.” she answered with a shrug. “I did get a talking to by Obito about how many people were wondering where I was, but luckily they had you to distract them, so thank you,” she laughed.
“Speaking of Obito, where is he?”
Motioning you to come join her in the living room, she answered, “Him and Shisui went to go pick up dinner and drinks. I guess it takes two?”
“Uchiha’s go in packs, you should know this.” Kakashi teased as you came into the room. “There are very few exceptions.” he finished with a nod to you.
“You’re not wrong…” you admitted, sitting down in a chair. “Do we have an ETA on the boys? I kinda skipped lunch, because I didn’t like the catering at work.” you asked, now knowing that was a mistake and that you would not be repeating that any time soon.
Hearing that, Rin’s eye widened a bit. “Wait…” she interjected. “You have a job already? Hasn’t it only been like three weeks?” she asked, her uncertainty evident. Then quickly shaking her head, she apologized, “Sorry- not that it’s surprising you could get a job, but wow, that’s just fast, and isn’t architecture competitive?” she added hastily.
You gave a small chuckle, “It’s okay, don’t worry.” Pulling your legs up onto the chair, you filled her in. “I work for a private architecture firm. They have a sister branch overseas that I worked with all throughout my masters, so it was an easy transition. I started right after the new year.”
“Wow...” she trailed for a moment, still processing it. Couldn’t blame her honestly. You had better odds of getting struck down by lightning than finding a decent job right out of college. Straightening up a bit, she nodded, “Well I’m glad you’re settling easily.”
“Oh that’s literally the only thing I have going for me right now.” you gave out a small chuckle trying to hide the instability in your life right now. “I don’t know how y'all did it,” you offered. “Finding an apartment, a car, insurance, all that stuff that you need to be an adult… I literally feel like I’m drowning half the time.” you kept your voice light to lift the weight of the truth.
“We didn’t pack up our whole life and moved across the world with 2 weeks notice.” Itachi offered as he handed you a drink. “You’re doing everything all at once.”
You shrugged. “It’ll get done. Always does” you let out a small laugh, trying the mask any uncertainty that was in your voice. Best not let them know that you were still trying to decide if this was the right decision.
Rin nodded as she sat down in the chair next to yours. “Right, and you’re you, so you’ll be fine.” she affirmed. “But, do you have good projects yet at work? Or are they making you do boring beginner stuff?”
A genuine smile came upon your face. “Actually, kinda?” you nodded. “There’s a small college like 20 miles away from here and it needs to be completely remodeled, so I’m on that task.  It’s kinda nice, because I like to focus on interiors, and you know, there’s not a whole lot that needs to be done exterior wise there.” you said.
“Wait… Are you remodeling Jenkins?” she inquired, giving a quick glance around the room.
“Uh, yeah I think that’s the name? Why?”
Rin smirked as she looked across the room. “Kakashi, isn’t that your college?” she interjected.
He nodded. “Yeah and it needs the renovations. A bunch of ceiling tiles started falling down in the lab last semester. Scared a bunch of undergrads.” he shrugged as if it were nothing.
Tapping your arm, she looked at you. “Well it looks like you have someone there-” she started but was interrupted by a loud pounding on the door. “Oh- I guess they made it here? Or that’s Asuma and Kuernai?” she murmured as she stood up to go help whoever it was. “Itachi, can you come here? I have a feeling they tried to carry everything in with one trip…” she clenched her jaw nervously.
“Please save the pesto,” you pleaded as they both left the room.
Then looking back over to Kakashi, you continued. “I always forget that you teach too.” You knew that he had graduated with his doctorate in chemistry last year, but you just never connected the dots of him being a professor now. “What are you teaching this semester?”
“Gen chem and ochem,” he replied. “Both lab and lecture,” he slightly frowned. “I used to only do the lab portion of them, but our lecturer quit, so I got roped into doing the lecture too…” he said, enthusiasm lacking in his tone.
“Isn’t that a lot…?” you asked. You weren’t quite sure how science classes worked, but with all of your engineering classes, the lectures and labs were taught by two different professors, and seldom did one of your professors teach two different classes without someone helping.
He nodded reluctantly.
“Well, I guess I’m going to have to go to one of your lectures then.” you teased, now trying to evade the fact that he was probably under a lot of pressure now.. “You know, to get a better feel of how the professors and students interact with their space- architecture stuff.” you smirked as you saw this statement make him recline a bit.
Giving a quick shake of his head, he tried to persuade you. “I’m not any good at lecturing. Really.” he insisted. With others, he probably would have dropped it there, but he knew you were persistent. “You could come to my office hours if you want instead.”
“Oh I'll do that too” you nodded, “Remember, I still owe you for that coffee a few years back.”

Despite reaching many personal and academic goals, discovering more about myself, and standing up for what I believe in this quarter, I still feel like I'm missing something. I keep saying I'm tired, and that's true. I am tried, but of what? Because it really seems like everything. I don't like being like this. I like being invigorated and fueled by my passions, and while I do feel hints of that, over all I would still say more than anything else that I'm tired. I truly think it has to do with taking four labs this quarter. Having 22 hours of instruction per week (versus a normal schedule of 10-13 hours) not only eats up a lot of daylight but also exhausts me into the the evening. So not only do I lose the time I spend in these extra labs but I lose time having to recuperate as well. All this lost time does not lend to the increased responsibilities of having this schedule either. We've now started week 8, and I took and ochem midterm I was ill prepared for this morning (slid by w a 86% hells yes (the avg was 65%))(oh and not to mention on the last one I scored 71% but the class avg was 33%) followed by my passport appointment and an interview for a very serious research opportunity I would love to be a team member on. Then came the studying, and studying I did. It just never seems to be enough. I have only gone to the grocery store twice this entire quarter and like I said this is week 8. My life has no balance and I feel like that is my greatest pitfall. I strive to create a better standard of living for myself next quarter so that I can be happy and healthy for when it comes time for my big trip to Europe; however, until then I have to make do with what I have and that just means I have to keep grinding.
