Whumpee checked their watch, swaying back and forth on their feet. They turned to Caretaker. “We’ve been in line for seven minutes.”

“Whumpee, nothing will stop me on my noble quest for popcorn.” Caretaker said. They gestured to the front of the line. “Besides, we’re nearly to the front.” The line moved forward a couple steps. “Alright. You’re buying me some Skittles, though.” “Okay, fair enough.” Caretaker said, and Whumpee smiled, satised.

Eventually, they reached the front of the line. “What can I get you?” The cashier asked. “Uh…I’ll have two large popcorns, a sprite and a coke, and a thing of skittles, please.” Caretaker pulled out their wallet to pay.

After paying for the always overpriced stadium faire, they headed back to their seats. Whumpee was skillfully holding the box of popcorn and the skittles in one hand and their drink in the other as they navigated through the crowd, blazing a path for Caretaker behind them.

They were climbing up into the stands, metal thunking beneath their feet, when the home team scored for the first time. The crowd went wild, hooting and hollering, blowing their horns and screaming their chants. Just this would’ve been fine. However, several weeks ago, one very intelligent man had the bright idea to shoot off fireworks whenever his team scored. A loud crack echoed over the stadium, bright orange and blue lights glimmering the air. It was a pretty display. Whumpee didn’t get to appreciate the colors.

Their vision narrowed, past mixing with the present in the worst way. The soda hit the stairs, followed by the popcorn and the Skittles. They were back on that damn street corner.

Whumpee could still smell the greasy food from the restaurant behind them, they could still taste their dinner in their mouth. They could hear the car driving down the street. It’s getting closer. They needed to run. They needed to-

Whumpee slammed into Caretaker’s chest, shoving them roughly to the side as they tried to ee down the stairs. Their feet were not quite their own, and they went tumbling downwards, knees slamming into the concrete at the bottom. It didn’t work. They weren’t fast enough. They’ll never be fast enough. The car was even with them and it was too late. Shots rang out. Five? Two? Just one? They don’t remember. Pain blossomed in their body a split second after. It’s hard to breathe and it hurts and-

The fall knocked the wind out of them, leaving them heaving on the ground, gasping for air. Caretaker rushed to Whumpee’s side, ignore how everyone around them was ever so politely doing the staring-while-trying-to-look-like-they-were-not-staring maneuver. “Whumpee?” they tried. They got no response.

Whumpee heard footsteps all round them, pounding and pounding and pounding. Somebody was screaming. No, everybody was screaming. When they finally tried to move again, it sent waves of pain cascading down their back. No more movement then, they decided. Caretaker sighed, then gently placed a hand on their shoulder. “C’mon, Whumpee.” They shook it a little bit, like Whumpee had told them too.

Someone was touching them. That had to be bad. It was always bad. They flung out an arm, dragging their nails down whoever’s hand it was, then went for the wrist, grabbing tightly and twisting it away from their body. It was the loud, pained gasp that sent the world ltering back in. Caretaker was kneeling beside them, holding their wrist protectively up against their chest, and their stomach dropped. A feeling of dread wormed its way through them, followed by a ash of anger. Why did they have to do this here, in front of all these damn people? “Fuck, Caretaker, I’m so sorry.” Whumpee’s face flushed red with embarrassment, and they mentally kicked themself under the table. “It’s normally not like that.”

“It’s alright. Not your fault.” Caretaker said, pushing themselves to standing. “It’s just a little sore.” They offered a hand for Whumpee to pull themselves up with. “Do you wanna stay for the rest of the game?”

“Not really, if that’s alright,” Whumpee said. Hesitantly, they took Caretaker’s hand and pulled themselves upright. They dusted the stadium oor grit o their knees, ignoring how their hands were still shaking. “Aight, home it is.” Caretaker bent down to collect the concessions they had dropped, handing Whumpee their drink back, as well as the skittles. They noticed the apprehensive look on Whumpee’s face, as if they weren’t quite sure if they were still welcome. “Don’t worry about it, Whumpee.”

For the remainder of the evening, they took turns throwing popcorn in each other's mouths while sitting on the floor. Whumpee was quite adept at it, deftly catching and swiftly eating several of Caretaker’s poorer tosses. Normally, Caretaker had better aim, but tonight they were tossing with their off hand.

They didn’t want Whumpee to see the bruise.

💅🏻 ~Manicure Monday~ 💅🏻

Hi everyone! In my last post, I mentioned that I was going to wear my green and blue glitter for Easter… but I changed my mind. This year for Easter, I decided to try a skittle manicure which is when each nail is a different color. I’ve never done one before, but I saw a really pretty one with pastel colors on Instagram that I wanted to replicate. And I love how it came out!

Doing a skittle manicure is fun, but it takes longer than regular ones because you have to keep switching bottles as well as putting two coats of polish on each nail. With all the extra movement, there is more potential for mistakes so I discovered that you have to be very careful. I didn’t keep the bottles too close to the space where I was painting so I wouldn’t accidentally smudge any of my nails on them. All the polishes I used are OPI crèmes, and I’ll talk a little bit about each one.

💛 Blinded by the Ring Light: I already reviewed this one last year. You can read about it here! I only used two coats this time, but I can still see some of my nails underneath it, so three would be better.

💚 How Does Your Zen Garden Grow?: I’ve already reviewed this polish before, too. You can read about it here! It wasn’t the same green they used in the example I saw, but it was close. The one they wore is called That’s Hula-rious! which is a bit lighter and more of a mint green.

🩵 Gelato on My Mind: I reviewed this one last year as well. You can read about it here! I would say the formula of this one was the thinnest out of all five, so you don’t need to put a lot on the brush and you don’t want to get too close to your cuticles with it. This one wasn’t the same blue they used in the post either, but it’s very close. The one they wore is called It’s A Boy! which is a sky blue that would also work very well for this.

💜 Polly Want a Lacquer?: I just happened to order this polish the day before I saw the post where they were wearing the exact same one! It’s from the Fiji Collection that came out for Spring/Summer 2017. It’s a beautiful lavender that does not lean towards blue or gray like some purples do. I considered getting Do You Lilac It? when I was looking for a light purple, but the color of that one is a little darker. The first coat was streaky and patchy just like the other three colors, but the second coat evened it out nicely.

🩷 Mod About You: Believe it or not, I didn’t have a pastel pink crème already! I have a pretty pink that’s a shimmer, but I thought it would have looked silly being the only shimmery nail when the rest were crèmes. In my opinion, skittle manis would look best when all five polishes have the same type of finish. People rave about this color, so I decided to try it. When I saw it in person, I thought it looked too pale, but I bought it anyway. I like it better on my nails than I do in the bottle, so I’m glad I did. A lot of pastels have thin formulas that require two coats because the color is so light, but this one was opaque with one coat. In fact, it was the only one that was out of all five polishes. The color is very sweet and feminine. It was originally released with the Brighter by the Dozen collection in Summer 2006, and now it’s one of their core colors. I can see why!

So, there you have it! I would definitely like to wear the purple and pink polishes by themselves sometime, since this was the first time I wore them and they are only on two nails. They are both lovely colors for the springtime, and so are the other three. I can’t even pick a favorite because I love them all!

Do you think I have enough neon green nail polishes?

This isn't actually them all. I've got another darker green neon which has a shimmer in it which I may have bought 2 bottles of because I liked it and I'm glad cos the brand doesn't exist any more. And another which is more on the yellow green side from Barry M which wasn't actually sold as a neon, but does still react under blacklight so its got neon pigment in it.

The two POP Polish ones in the front are actually 2 different colours. One is a thermal polish which changes from a yellow-green to yellow but its a very subtle shift and its old enough it wouldn't shift much now anyway (thermal pigments unfortunately only last about 6 to 12 months in being able to react to temperature changes).

And the two Cirque Colors polishes are actually different colours from the closest POP Polish ones in real life, particularly once on the nail and dry.

They're probably close enough you'd only need one though, in which case I'd recommend Cirque Colors if you prefer a wider rounded tip brush. Left is C.R.E.A.M from Vice 2023, right is Kushy from Vice 2022.

If you prefer the skinniest of skinny brushes then POP Polish ones have those. Left to right on top row are Hopscotch, Electric Trees, and Rapture (which is a sheer neon with a ton of shimmer in which shifts from yellow through green to blue for the most part, but at extreme angles you can sometimes see hints of orange or even pink). On the bottom row are Pucker and Squirt (the thermal one) . The names together are awful, I apologise.

Currently painting my nails so that they are a gradient skittle mani from darkest to lightest. I'm applying Rapture on top of Hopscotch on the middle finger to make it more of a mid tone. I felt that Pucker leant too yellow once dry and next to the others given that I was going for a look loosely inspired by Käärijä. And since I may have a lot of green nail polishes (particularly bright/light shades including neon) in my collection, picking only the one shade seemed unfair to the others. (May have 18 greens just within arm's reach. If I lean to pick up the boxes at my feet, its probably closer to 30, and that's not including any of the rest of my collection. I may or may not have a problem).

Käärijä's nail look:

It looks like he might be wearing gel nail polish, but closest match from my polishes for colour would have to be Kushy by Cirque Colors so good luck finding that since it gets made in limited runs and other than last year, I believe the last time they offered it was 2019 or 2020. I think Glisten & Glow's Shake Your Grass At Me would also be a good match. Or Picture Polish's Lime Light.

10. What are your most common stims?

I'm going to leave out self harmful stims for this, in which case it would probably be rubbing my nail against my lip (sometimes also tapping my teeth with a nail,) tapping on things (incl like. My arms n stuff if I need to be quiet) and rocking. I've been sort of ABA-ed out of a lot of more visible stims apart from the rocking. If I'm a little stressed out but grounded I squeeze my forearm repeatedly or stroke a lock of hair. But my most common stim growing up/the one I often default to if I'm rly rly stressed out and not totally grounded is biting things (not counting this as self harmful bc there are non harmful things to bite, like rubber stim tools, a sleeve, etc.)

36. Do you have routines that you have to follow? What's in your routine?

I follow a lot of little routines I think. It's hard to tell always bc they're just integrated into my life now. I think it's more noticable that I need routines when interacting with others. I need to know where we're going and for how long and can get thrown off if things change, and get really really stressed if I don't know the schedule even if it's smth I enjoy doing.

I definitely have routines when eating though. Like eating the least favorite thing first and the most favorite last. I have a fun little routine with Skittles too that I was talking about with a friend the other day

Dump out Skittles and make a little graph of colors in color order

Starting with the color that has the most Skittles, eat extra in color order until I have the same amount of each color

Once I have an even number of each color, eat in preference order (purple -> orange -> red -> yellow -> green, repeat)

Saw Toy Story 2 (this was after the 1st one that i did wanna watch because it was the first CGI Movie as well as the 4th one that my brother told we should give a go) and it was Great Rewatching a movie i Saw ALOT as a kid, i think it might actually be my Favorite and IDK why but it might kinda of hit me but, with Animated movies sometimes it might be the 2nd (or in case of Ice Age the 3rd One) where you can hit a home run and right now it dose get my thinking, Maybe DragoGen and Quoll Alone get Really Popular when the next one comes, like for Quoll Alone i mean another venture like where is Skittles, DragoGen stills needs expanding ya know… SOOOOOOOO i might actually get Nat, Doily and Kitube ready as SOON as i got Willa Brown textured and Groomed up with her hair and fur, might also Prepare to Sculpt Piggypack or a hornmoth, IDK but i kinda wanna get models ready now and all

💅🏻 ~Manicure Monday~ 💅🏻

Hi everyone! Spring is definitely underway up here in my neck of the woods. This weekend my husband and I mulched our garden and planted some flowers, and we put our birdbath back outside. I’ve seen a bunch of birds, rabbits, and deer in our backyard. That being said, it’s the perfect time of year to paint my nails a lovely shade of pastel pink!

I bought this color called Mod About You to use for my skittle manicure that I did for Easter, but I only wore it on two fingernails. I decided to wear it on its own so I could fully appreciate it and give it a review all to itself. It was released in Summer 2006 with the Brighter by the Dozen collection, and you can still find it pretty easily because it’s one of OPI’s classic colors. It’s a very soft baby pink that reminds me of strawberry milk and cotton candy!

I said it was opaque with one coat the last time I wore it, but this time it wasn’t. Maybe that’s because I only wore it on my pinky nails last time, so I needed a smaller amount? On the rest of my nails, the first layer looked streaky and I could see the ridges in my nails. But even though it didn’t cover them completely, the polish felt a bit heavy and I ended up with some tiny bubbles on a few of my nails. I had to put a third coat on both of my pointer fingers in order to correct a couple mistakes I had made applying the previous coat. My application was a little messy and I got too close to my cuticles with it, so I had to clean up around the edges of my nails when I was done – especially on my right hand.

I considered adding a layer of blue and green sparkles with Fanta-seas by Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear on my ring fingernails like I did on top of the purple I wore last time, but in the end, I decided not to do anything fancy. I still wonder how it would look, though, so maybe I’ll put it on in a few days to see if I like it.
