There's an EU initiative going on right now that essentially boils down to wanting to force videogame publishers with paid games and/or games with paid elements such as DLC, expansions and microtransactions to leave said games in a playable state after they end support, or in simpler terms, make them stop killing games.

A "playable state" would be something like an offline mode for previously always online titles, or the ability for people to host their own servers where reasonably possible just to name some examples.

I don't think I need to tell anyone that having something you paid for being taken from you is bad, which is a thing that routinely happens with live service and other always online games with a notable recent example being The Crew which is now permanently unplayable.

Any EU citizen is eligible to sign the initiative, but only once and if you mess up that's it. You can find it here. (https://citizens-initiative.europa.eu/initiatives/details/2024/000007_en)

Even if you're not European or you signed it already, you can share this initiative with anyone who is, even if they don't care about videogames specifically because this needs a million signatures and there is different thresholds that need to be met for each EU country for their votes to even count and could also be a precedent for other similar practices like when Sony removed a bunch of Discovery TV content people paid for.

Sage and Avery become friends, and Sage celebrates with some hissing (as you do). Jerrod and Delphine embrace - while Jerrod gains a good reputation.

He also gets a dose of paranoia straight afterwards. Never change, Jerrod.

And with Lilac and Sage making themselves scarce, chore montage hour kicks off.

Jerrod finds some hatchable eggs (and experiences a bout of paranoia - maybe the chickens told him of Annie Yolkley's demise?), while gardener Avery is feeling tense from a lack of employment, and Pauline becomes flirty over handiness.

As Jerrod and Avery are both tense, I later send them on activities to blow off steam. Delphine meanwhile talks marriage with Lilac, and they both gain a deeply connected sentiment.

Winterfest would not be complete without a grand meal, and Jerrod again is on cooking. While Lilac seems less than enthused, Avery gives their full compliments to the chef.

Pauline and Delphine later goof in the kitchen while they wait for the guest of the hour to appear.

As he arrived, so must he depart - lest he turn into a pumpkin or something. And Delphine is safe (for now).

How can we help shift our community away from supporting a literal Nazi with every passive link click or mindless scroll?

Can we... ban Xwitter links on all our Discord servers? call in people who post X links like we have (tried) with CF? share screenshots instead of X links when the next "leak" comes out?

How can we push The Sims team to shift their communications strategy to other, less harmful platforms? (cough, Bluesky)

This feels incredibly urgent to me as an American but it should feel urgent to you too, regardless of where you live! Just look at Elon's recent backing of the right wing extremist AfD party in Germany. The man has enough money to buy any government he wants, let's not let him have our eyeballs for free.

ICE raids are set to start as soon as tuesday (JAN 21, 2025) in Chigago so make sure you know your rights, your community, and your plan.

ICE MUST have a warrant to search/enter any property. they will lie and manipulate you to allow them on the premises but if they arent holding a valid document in their hands they cannot legally do anything

They may say something like "our warrant is in the truck," tough shit, have them bring it to you, DO NOT FOLLOW THEM ANYWHERE. Do not leave your property if confronted.

If you are taken, say nothing until a lawyer is present. The exception is if there are bystanders present/filming, then you should shout your name and whats happening

If you are witnessing a raid in your community, wait to warn others via phone as the cops may be monitoring nearby communications and may use that to select their next targets. Warn by code or word of mouth
