Listened to a podcast the other day discussing Season 6 Episode 2 with Jesse Inocalla (Voice of Soren) as the guest, and one part of it really reminded me of why I love Soren and Corvus, either as a romantic pair or even just as a friendship.
To summarize, the theme of the episode that the podcast picked out was the theme of acceptance, and Jesse Inocalla picked the last moment, where Corvus says "A good man with a big heart" to analyze through that lens. And he talked about Soren, who has wanted nothing more than to be loved as his complete self, not just as parts of himself (a crownguard, someone who is silly, someone who has gone through everything he has, etc.), and Corvus really being one of the first people to express that kind of love and acceptance towards him.
But then the host of the podcast asks Jesse about who is doing the accepting in that moment (as per the theme discussed), and I was surprised when Mr. Inocalla answers that Corvus (I believe part of his response were the words "fuck it, we ball" regarding when Corvus finally returns the hug after being caught off guard), and that speaks so much to this dynamic they have. Corvus, who is not big on physical affection, would say "fuck it, we ball" to a big hug from Soren. We see a little of his discomfort at the beginning of the episode when Soren (literally) picks him up. But in this moment, there is only a second of that, before acceptance. Acceptance of that affection, and accepting what Soren means to him, and what he means to Soren, and letting that vulnerability happen.
That's why Sorvus, or platonic Soren and Corvus, or whatever, has captured my heart so much. I just love them to bits.
Here is the link to the podcast, if you want to listen: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/acceptance-tdp-s6e2-love-war-mushrooms-w-jesse-inocalla/id1486277624?i=1000665962366
(Also, Jesse Inocalla and Omari Newton (Voice of Corvus) apparently talk a lot about their characters together. Sirs?)

continuum (2012) CANADIAN SCI-FI
This show is great. I watched it in 2017. And i have no idea why there are almost no people talking about it. If you didn't watch it do it.it might be a little slow in the beginning but it's still great. Just. Nice.
There is time travel (from 2077 to 2012), good-to-bad and bad-that-looks-like-good and good-that-is-actually-not, dystopia, subtle details about the future, not subtle details of future, VERY interesting change of view on what is the 'bad' side and what is the 'good' one, and then there are just no sides at all, just people. AND ALSO THE BAD GUY SENDS PEOPLE BACK IN TIME TO FIX THE MESS HE'S DONE. Very cool.
By the way the main character doubting her side. 10000/10. Just watch it.
Created by Simon Barry. Starring: Rachel Nichols, Victor Webster, Erik Knudsen, Stephen Lobo, Roger Cross, Lexa Doig, Tony Amendola, Omari Newton, Luvia Petersen, Jennifer Spence, Brian Markinson, Ryan Robbins.

The the lost explorer and the spear of blood and tears prologue
@jakkiisthatboy2
It was a cold and windy afternoon, the ancestors of Africa gather around to have a meeting with the queen of Africa: queen Wanda
“Oh I can sense something” said queen Wanda. Liza immediately asked “what mama?” “I can sense that the twins are coming back!” The ancestors gasps at her. “But how?! We arrested them! Months ago! Cried out Omari. Wanda gave him a worried look “listen Omari. I know they just got free, but we need a plan.” Oganda stood up and said “what mama? What can we do?”
Queen Wanda took a deep breath and said “we need an army.” Dagenia immediately said “what army? We already have an army!” “Not that…but some other army..” Dagenia started to think about a new army until she got an idea.
Dagenia clears her throat and says “I recognized a friend of mine. But he’s not just any friend…he’s my childhood friend.” Queen Wanda asks her daughter “do you think he’ll help us?” “Of course…why would I ever want to miss a reunion with my childhood friend?” Oganda asked to herself with a confused expression “childhood friend?” “Wait…who exactly?” Asked Liza as she walked out of the room.

Red Velvet x Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage x South Granville. (via Mark Halliday)
Arts Club's comedic drama, written by Lolita Chakrabarti and directed by Omari Newton, tells the true story behind the first Black actor (instead of a white man in blackface) to portray Shakespeare's Othello in 1833 London. Structured as a farcical play-within-a-play bookended with dramatic scenes in a later period Poland, the performances and direction are delightfully executed to highlight the sadly still relevant themes of racial equity and representation within the arts and high society.
Lindsey Angell (as Ellen Tree) and Quincy Armorer (as Ira Aldridge).
Running live on stage now until Apr. 21.

I just finished writing the first vip panel with Rhona Rees, Paula Burrows, Jack De Sena and Omari Newton. My old post was erased (but I posted it again), I don't know what's wrong with my computer or this app, but if I try to minimize the page it erases everything I had written, so sorry for the double post. This is only the first part.
I've written the questions like the moderator asked them:
Rhona, who did you have a chance to work with in the booth and be next to and then we’ll go Omari and then Paula.
Rhona: I think most of the core cast were there when I got a chance to join in..Um..Paula, Racquel, Jesse, Omari you were in the booth for one of my episodes I believe. Jason, Sasha, yeah and first time I’d met Jack as well so, I mean, this was pre-pandemic, these days we’re all recording separately and it has made a real difference..Um.. recording cartoons is one the most joyful things you can do and I know that I don’t know how you guys have felt recording separately but it’s not the same, I miss the magic of being able to bounce off each other’s energy.
Omari: It’s sad. I would agree with you, like most of the main cast was there when I went in, you know? And I think we had a day where we overlapped but I’m trying to think now..Had this show been cast in this covid times? I don’t know if it would have had the same magic it does, if we did not all get to know each other and riff off each other... It is so much of the show, especially a show that relies on kind of humor and heart, relies on the connection with other people so yeah, I really miss it too.
Rhona: Yeah, and that connection, you know, between Paula and Jack’s characters, how do you build that when you’re not recording together and you’re not even hearing the delivery of the other people, like I think it’s great that you guys already have that established, so that if we move forward and things still aren’t ensemble, you’ve already established that connection and you know you can probably predict maybe how things are gonna go
Paula: Yeah, yeah. I mean, we’re being so lucky on this show like I don’t know, we usually record in a big U, so we’re all sort of shoulder to shoulder, I have Jack on one side and Jason on the other, so Callum and Viren, but across from me is Sasha and Omari are usually across from me as well, so you’re your scenes with people..Um..I don’t know, this is a new world going forward. I haven’t done any animation recording only solo records, throughout the pandemic I’ve only done commercial so I haven’t really experienced it yet, but in terms of recording The Dragon Prince, the only people I didn’t get to record with were the sunfire elves and Aaravos.
Are there other ships besides Rayllum..Um.. What is that ship with their aunt that’s deaf and…
Paula and Jack: Amaya?
Yeah! that's a ship, right?
Paula: they’re a thing
Jack: I think that’s certainly shippable if it’s not canonically a ship.
Omari: Someone sent a video of Corvus and Soren like they edited it and put it on youtube and I was like “Oh!”
Jack: I’m sure with Callum, I’m sure people, you know, there’s a Claudia thing as well but I always felt like-
Paula: Excuse me?
Jack (laughs): There was, but then they go on a date at the moon nexus.
Do they?
Jack: Yeah, kind of, and then she tells them his dad died so it’s not like a great date, it doesn’t go super well.
Paula: Was that a date or like a kidnapping?
Jack: I think Callum thought it was maybe a date
Rhona: I feel like a lot of my dates go “is this a date or a kidnapping?”
Omari: The fine line, right Rhona?
I think this is my favorite (Janaya’s picture), whether or not it felt like it and I loved Gren’s smile in the background.
Jack: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Paula: I have never looked so happy.
Right? So are there any others, like shipping Callum with different people seems really...It’s very clear that Rayla and Callum are a thing.
Jack: Yeah.
Rhona: I mean, when I was recording, me and Jesse were joking that Nyx and Soren would be a fun ship because they both kind of had this kind of slightly…(sorry, I couldn't hear what she said because someone talked at the same time and her audio wasn’t the best…) They never interact yet in the show but like let’s just throw it out into the universe and see what comes back.
Paula: I would like to see Bait fall in love.
Jack: Aww…
Rhona: With jelly tarts?
Jack: (laughs) Yeah, he has already.
Any other ships? No?
Jack: I mean, do people ship in sort of like a backstory way? Do people ship Harrow and Viren? Because I definitely have that mentioned.
Paula: right?
Jack: I think it’s a very textured friendship thing but I think there’s plenty to read the other way if you-
With Viren I could see but do you honestly think that-
Jack: I think that’s maybe more what I think...yeah I think it’s more.
Paula: There’s something that can be perceived as very saucy between the two of them.
Jack: There’s a vibe.
What is your favorite moment in the show? Rhona, and then Omari, and then Paula and then Jack.
Rhona: I think the moment when Rayla is meeting her... like ancestors by the pool, I don’t know how to describe..do you know that scene I’m talking about?
Jack: It’s the moon nexus, right? She’s like through the memories.
Rhona:Yeah, that was beautiful. I think that or when you guys have all those little fuzzy. What are those little fuzzy..?
Jack: Adoraburrs? Is that what they’re called?
Paula: They are adorable.
Rhona:Yes! I think those... That was like such a sweet moment and then, yeah, I really remember that. I really remember that moon nexus scene as being so emotional and beautiful and mature. (I think they may be talking about the Silvergrove scene?)

Conversation
So hey I found the voice actor for Indigo: Rena Anakwe the voice of Janai from The Dragon Prince, that voice but like a bit softer is what I mentally here!
and also even though I have always Griffin Puatu is the voice of Calvin in my head Omari Newton the voice of Corvus, also from The Dragon Prince is just to close to what here mentally!
Do what you will with this!

This is the second part of the last post.
What is your favorite moment in the show? Rhona, and then Omari, and then Paula and then Jack.
Omari: I don’t have a moment but I think like whenever I see and hear Harrow speak I get emotional because I think of myself as a kid and seeing this like honorable, powerful king who happens to look kind of like me, I just think I didn’t really have that often on animated shows so I get...I get emotional. Again, you’re talking to a guy who every time I watch Spider-man into the Spider-Verse I cry while they’re talking like I...It just affects me on a deep level.
Paula: For me it’s an episode and it’s 2x05, when Viren is trying to convince the council to go to war and Queen Aanya is not having it, that whole episode I just love it and Jason was just talking forever and it was great, even being in the room for that episode was amazing. Just love it.
Jack: Ezran ascending to the throne. I just think like a shot of him entering the throne room and taking that on, I think it’s just one of the more well-earned and beautiful, like whoa, him leaving the journey to go back take on that responsibility, I think is just incredible.
Rhona: I think another special moment was just the first time seeing Amaya sign. That was really a special moment, you know, it felt like having black royal family, groundbreaking, and having a character sign, groundbreaking.
Mental illness representation, Callum’s anxiety...oh, okay. What do you guys think of the kind of ever present discussion of people dealing with “are they capable?” Because both Rayla and Callum are very much open and honest with like “am i a failure?” (This was mine!)
Omari: Oh, it's great to see characters that are, you know, lack confidence and struggle with these real things that I'm sure a lot of viewers do as well."
Jack: I'm a person with generalized anxiety disorder, it's what it’s been called to me, and I struggle with anxiety a lot and it's a big thing that I connected to with this character and it does feel like the show explores it in a way that isn't like…. Sometimes it’s in like, sometimes it’s in a character description as just like “anxious” just like “Oh, that’s just like a trait” as opposed to a like... a part of this person and a struggle that they're facing and I think Callum really does read to me as a person with an anxiety disorder and they really like, you know, he is really grappling with it and working through it and the dark magic coma scene that I’ve talked about a bunch because I just love it. I love that, you know, to unlock the person that he needs to be, it's stuff that I do to work on anxiety where it’s like “oh he's gotta calm down and channel his breath and think and focus on just the thing in front of him”, like those things, I think that's beautiful and I love it. Love it.
Was there a point in the story that really surprised you? Like, I did not see that. (I already wrote Paula's answer and Jack's reply, twice because I'm stupid and tumblr hates me)
Jack: I just said it, but truly, Ezran leaving. I think was a real like...It’s just so not in the outline you think of this journey when you look at the beginning of the series. You go like, oh these three kids who are like going off to meet the dragon queen and this is the one who can, this kid can like talk to animals, so he’s going to be there to talk to the dragon queen, and the fact that “no, it makes more sense that he has to go back and do the adult thing" even though he’s an 11 year old. I think that’s a really logical plot decision that is, I think, completely shocking from just a genre perspective of like, you know, this is the show where it’s about kids on an epic quest, the main kid doesn’t leave in the middle of the epic quest to go home and do a job. That’s weird, but I think it just really makes sense and it’s really cool.
Paula: What you said (about Rayllum) it’s kind of funny because I think her..for me, in terms of the relationship with Callum, for Rayla it was like “oh, this annoying guy that I have to take care of and I’ve got to explain everything to him”. Well, that does sound like the start of all my relationships so...I don’t know why I didn’t see it coming.
Omari: For a selfish pov just, you know, Corvus going from tracker to a protector, an ally. It was a great story and we talked about it on the previous one, just spoke of the brilliance of the... just the nuance of the storytelling, constant twists that are really surprising and fun.
Rhona: I feel like I want to use the same moment, just the first time I saw Amaya sign and I think the show approaches so many issues with such respect and it’s not made this big deal of... and I loved also that there wasn’t a translation. I think that it really blew me away to see that and, you know, we mentioned in our panel last night how there are fun little signing easter eggs left in there. I don’t know, I just loved that moment.
Who’s the most likely to break character and laugh during the session?
Paula: Jesse.
Rhona: Oh, he’s not here to defend himself.
Paula: Jesse and Racquel together.
Jack: Yeah, the combo.
Last question, what movie or show would your characters be a fan of? (This was mine too)
Rhona: Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Like getting in there, stealing precious artifacts, going on adventures....
Omari: Terminator 2.
Paula: I think Rayla's pretty into sports, if she’s gonna watch a movie might be something like Tomb Raider, something with a girl.
Is there a sports woman movie?
Jack: Hold on, what’s like a hard-edged female sports movie…
Rhona: I, Tonya?
Jack: There’s a Drew Barrymore...roller derby movie? (Whip It) (About Callum) I was trying to think if there’s like an animated thing because he’s so into drawing, so I was trying to think if there was like an animated...Um…
Rhona: The Last Airbender.
Jack: The Last Airbender, yeah. He’s really into The Last Airbender. He has a big connection with boomerangs and he doesn’t understand, I think that’s perfect.
Edit: sorry I forgot to say that I didn't write any questions about through the moon since none of them have read it yet, but Rhona has started a free webinar series called Mistressclass and Omari's been one of the few men that they had on their platform. It's to learn about the industry from mostly women to voice over, to on camera, to commercials, to head shots to agents. They are going to have one about audition nerves and anxiety if you're interested!
