Abilities: Natural affinity for black magic, particularly attuned to fire. The wild magic doesn't always work out in his favor, and he occasionally he casts an entirely different spell than what he intended. Hemlocke can use magic without a staff or soul crystal with no fear of his aether burning away, but it can become easily out of control the more he uses without a focus. He can successfully use the teleportation spell 'Flow', but it takes a lot out of him to do. In perilous moments, Hemlocke's 'shadow' might emerge to assist and amplify his magic. In physical combat, he's best with knives and throwing them at a distance. Hobbies: Hemlocke enjoys reading, dancing, traveling, going out to drink, and gardening. He might sing if he's by himself. He plays piano proficiently, but he's still hesitate to try again with this being tied back to bitter memories.

Mount Issuance: Nightingale, Hemlocke's easily spooked chocobo and occasionally Rose, a gentle bird mount that assists him at the behest of the Vath. Been Arrested: No, but he's had a few close calls.

Hi K! Happy STS! What are your thoughts on a Shapeshifter coffee shop AU?

Heya Milo!

So I went into a little detail a while back about a coffeeshop AU for Shapeshifter, but I've since gotten even more obsessed with this idea so follow me down the rabbit hole!

-

Reese Tucker is Carlisle's business partner and the one who keeps Carlisle in check. Otherwise Carlisle would probably be opening up stores left and right and everything would go belly-up real quick. He does agree to open up a second location on the other side of town, at which point Kerr, Jay, and Warrick are called in to help cover shifts at both stores until the new hires can be left alone. Said new hires are:

Aleksei Rybkin - sweet, hardworking, and cannot be left unsupervised with Kerr or Warrick lest Shenanigans ensue. Usually steps in when customers are being rude or surly because literally no one can be mad at his adorable face. He's absolutely making faces at the customers behind their backs afterwards.

Kanda & Mayuri Salae - identical twins that only Kerr and Portia seem to be able to tell apart at first glance. Kanda is quieter and prefers to avoid interacting with customers if she can help it, while Mayuri is much more outgoing. They like to switch nametags and shifts occasionally to mess with people.

In addition to the new hires, there's a handful of new regulars that come with the second location -

Lex Causey - one of Carlisle's old friends and a doctor. Could never justify going to the Original coffeeshop because of how far away it was from the hospital she works at, but the second location is much closer. Quickly becomes friends with all of the staff, and regularly tries to convince Mayuri to become a nurse.

Elizabeth Beckett - a police detective that always stops in right when the shop opens for her morning coffee. During the transition period she and Jay meet, but have a terrible first impression because they're both kind of prickly antisocial disasters.

Olivia Collier - another detective and Elizabeth's partner. Even less personable than Jay, and likes to monopolize a back corner table for hours at a time with her case files, but buys frequent refills so the staff can't be too mad.

Luka Kovac - quiet, predictable, and frankly scary, no one really knows who Luka is or what he does, but they're all pretty sure he *actually* works for the mob. He spends a lot of time reading from their 'take one, leave one' shelf and scaring people away from a specific armchair he's claimed.

And some more scenarios, just because I can ^.^

-during the second store's first few months, when Kerr was split between both stores, somehow Adrien Montrose knew exactly which days Kerr would be at the Original store and would only show up on those days. Everyone was confused for weeks until Jay caught Kerr texting Adrien his schedule and learned they'd been lowkey dating the entire damn time.

-the second store is pretty similar to the Original in terms of decor and vibes, but it's only a single story on the ground floor of a newer apartment complex, so there's not nearly as much space. Instead of a bunch of windows, some parts of the walls are covered in blackboards so customers can draw on them. Warrick tends to draw simple murals to encourage customers to add to them, and the staff keep a scrapbook of their favorite penis drawings (the drawings themselves are usually quickly erased).

-After they managed to get past the bad first impression, Jay and Elizabeth find that they actually enjoy each other's presence in a quiet camraderie way. Jay even tries to flirt once, but ends up writing her pickup line on Olivia's cup by accident and has yet to live that down.

Previously, as part of the larger Team Star Trek-Team Star Wars storyline feud that’s been going on, Kara Thrace (Battlestar Galactica) made it clear she was Team Star Wars while Takeshi Kovacs (Altered Carbon) sided with Team Star Trek.

Aside from Kara and Takeshi, John Crichton and Aeryn Sun (Farscape) sided with Team Star Wars after Team Star Trek had attacked them. Jack O’Neill and Samantha Carter (Stargate SG-1), who were in the same attack by Team Star Trek, haven’t publicly announced who they were siding with. However, it’s assumed they are also on Team Star Wars’ side due to the attack.

With Team Star Wars gaining allies, other sci-fi teams begin announcing their allegiance to Team Star Trek to even the odds…

Hypothetical TV shows: Live-action, American adaptation of “Kaguya-Sama: Love is War”

Plot summary (just as a refresher): 

The proudly privileged top two students of an elite school each makes it their mission to be the first to extract a confession of love from the other.

Details of this adaptation:

1) Humor is mostly the same, but takes influences from shows like “Community”, “Pen15″, “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series”, and “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend”. This is to make the show more accessible to American audiences. 

2) Setting is changed to a private school in San Francisco, California.

3) Some plot points are altered to reflect the change in setting. For example, instead of the characters using the Line app, they use Facebook Messenger or GroupMe. 

4) That being said, a funny way the show could get away with doing more Japanese-centric storylines (like Chika’s ramen chapters) would be that the characters visit Japantown in San Francisco. Like, it becomes a meta joke that the characters spend a lot of time in Japantown for no reason. 

5) The show is mostly faithful to the original manga, but there are American-only segments to make this version distinct.

Changes from the manga: Kaguya is mostly the same, except her family’s company is now located in America. 

2) Ryan Potter as Michael Shirogane (based on Miyuki Shirogane) 

Changes from the manga: Miyuki’s name change is to reflect Ryan Potter being half-Japanese, half-Jewish, and that this version of the character was born in the US. Other than that, the character is mostly the same (president of the school, family is poor, etc.)

3) Geraldine Viswanathan as Chitrakshi “Chitra” Kaur (based on Chika Fujiwara)

Changes from the manga: Ethnicity changed from Japanese to Indian-American. Also, as a joke subplot exclusive to the American version, the explanation behind her pink hair and why she wears a ribbon changes every time someone asks. 

4) Dallas Liu as Isaac Yu (based on Yu Ishigami)

Changes from the manga: Ethnicity changed from Japanese to Chinese-American. Other than that, Isaac’s probably the closest to his manga counterpart than the others.

5) Olivia Rodrigo as Miko Ilaban (based on Miko Iino)

Changes from the manga: Ethnicity changed from Japanese to Filipino-American. Also, to take advantage of Olivia’s singing background, this version of Miko is a surprisingly good singer (maybe this is revealed in an episode about karaoke?). 

6) Olivia Holt as Haysaca A. Smithee (based on Ai Hayasaka)

Changes from the manga: Ethnicity changed from Japanese to British. Also, as a meta joke, Hayasaka’s fake name she used to deceive Miyuki is now her real name.

The Crown Season 4: Olivia Colman and Gillian Anderson

As they shot Season 4, Colman and Anderson presented two diametrically opposed ways of working. “Olivia doesn’t prepare,” Morgan said. “I don’t think she’ll hate me for saying that. That’s the amazing thing about Olivia, she’s constantly adapting, one of the fiercest actors, she’s off-book, entirely instinctive.”

Morgan’s partner Anderson, on the other hand, prepared months in advance, working slowly and methodically from the inside out. Where Anderson could tell someone in ADR exactly what she was doing with her neck in take four, Colman wouldn’t remember what she had just done the previous day. “They had a lot of scenes together,” Morgan said. “The poor director! One has known the text a year, the other learned it in a taxi on the way over. It’s an almost, like an ‘Amadeus’ level of talent in the moment.”
