It has brought tears to my eyes before and it’s just…I don’t have the words to do justice to the emotions this fic evokes. It doesn’t contain smut (which you mentioned having a preference for) however Olivia and Jacquelyn’s relationship is a central (+extremely well written) part of this fic so I would definitely recommend reading this if you like Olivia/Jacquelyn.]

I should stop having fanfic ideas. I'll likely never write any of them and they aren't good (though I do want to finish my WTNV because I did start if) but they invade my mind and I can't stop thinking about them.

Right now, my brain decided that the best way for me to not be thinking about all the thing that I have to do and how they will go wrong was to think about what if series!Olivia had read the book and had the same ideas but was recruited by a way more book accurated morally gray VFD to a Jacques that is still cool and suave but also overworked, ready to implode in unadressed trauma and not as heroic. Larry and Jacqueline should still be there. I like them. I think they can easily be integrated to the grayer, older and even more complex book version of VFD easilly.

Now I think that Olivia being there (and Lulu being a separated person) as well as Jacques not being a lone agent would have changed things. But mostly I just want the story of a lonely young woman thinking she finally got something that can change the world for the better and slowly realizing that it can only really work if a lot of things change. How someone who didn't "volunteer' as kid would deal with it and how it would be likelt way closer to what VFD was when it started (because I do think it was a good thing at first). And I like stories of disapointment and the end of hero workship specially if this idea still has the hope of understand people are mixed salads and trying to make something better with the broken pieces.

Any headcanons about Olivia and Jacques in between scenes? Like moments in the Vile Village or Erstaz Elevator?

YESSSS YES I DO

-J carries a camera. It's supposedly for VFD purposes (cataloging, recording, evidence finding, etc, etc) but slowly it becomes pictures of O.

-he doesn't realize this until he gets a call from a VERY disgruntled secretary about "if I have to develop one more print of your girlfriends face, I WILL—"

-O likes sour gummy worms. it's the only candy she likes. J doesn't understand this until they stop at a place with dried pineapple and she looks like he's given her the moon.

-conversely, J loves trail mix but hates almonds. she loves almonds, so it's a win-win.

-when they get sandwiches, they give each other a half of each, so they get to try two sandwiches. in J's mind, this is tantamount to a proposal.

-there was definitely a sleeping under the stars moment, except that they barely slept because they kept getting distracted by all the constellations. O can pinpoint this night as when she fell in love.

-their first kiss was in a crappy 24 hour diner on the side of the road. the lights were barely on, but there was a jukebox, and they took full advantage of being the only ones there and knowing the troupe had stopped for the night up ahead by dancing their feet off.

-O writes him letters in the passenger seat and stores them in the glove box. she tells him it's for safekeeping, but she just wants him to find them later. they're all addressed to him. some are cute, some are heartfelt, one is just her asking if he'd love her despite her various near death experiences, and so on.
