Congratulations to TEAM CHEESE for winning the popular vote on the Charcuterie poll!
#charcuterie saga#digital art#I initally made the poll as a fun little side thing while I was away and not able to draw -#-and a week later it has become a true battleground of food passion!#I *will* be drawing the charcuterie board soon (I first need to plan out what this thing looks like based on the ratio of votes)#But I also really want to draw more faux stickers like this. Possibly...to make them into actual stickers?#Let's see what the vibes are like after I draw more. I'll do a interest check and if enough people want them...It will be so.#Team Olives and Pickles will get one next. As will team Crackers. You both fought hard but the battle was stacked against you.#Turns out people have very strong opinions about cheese!#Team Jam kept it fun with recommending the most delightful combinations and spreads.#Team meat made me laugh with their chants. Team fruit just wanted a lovely time.#Team crackers were the underdogs but fought a good fight.#Team olives and pickles - you weren't even an official team at the start but you made it your destiny. Well done.#Team Vanilla extract....You made me eat something terrible. Feta. Old chedder. Gouda. Babybel. None of these are good with Vanilla.#Don't ask me how I know that.#(I know I should do a soft goat cheese with some fruit in it. I just haven't had the opportunity yet.)#Thank you all for your participation and for filling my week with whimsy B*)#I've loved drawing these little mice a lot!

Today I finished a book and was also surprised by Crowley’s attention to detail. He insisted on picking up some bread and cheese because I mentioned it would pair well with the wine we were planning on drinking.
He returned with all of the ingredients for a charcuterie board. He then placed the meat, sliced the cheeses, prepared the bread, added olives, jams and honey and announced it complete.
We dined at the table. Crowley even allowed me to feed him some of the feast that he’d prepared.
It most definitely paired well with the wine.

I feel like the gang would all meet at book club for the first time, but they got interested in joining because they’re reading a play for the first time instead of a full on book. and lemme say UNCLE VANYA they are reading UNCLE VANYA plus I just saw this on broadway with Andrew Scott and it was phenomenal. plus everyone brings something to contribute to the charcuterie board and I’d love to hear what you think everyone is bringing
anon…i am so envious that you saw Andrew Scott on Broadway HELLO??? I don’t even know the play, I’m woefully uneducated in plays, but I’m sure it was spectacular.
what I think everyone is bringing to the charcuterie board…I think Annie brings like four really nice cheeses because she’s nervous, Johanna brings the stuffed olives, Peeta is of course a baking whiz so he’s made bread but also potentially. because I feel like he is impressive enough to do this. crackers as well. Beetee is one of those people that somehow has the most eclectic and unique spreads and jams you’ve ever seen in your life, Mags brings organic or locally sourced grapes or whatever, and I will be self indulgent in this and say that Katniss has a smoker and so she brings some meat she’s smoked. Finnick completely forgets to bring anything and stops by the gas station and gets beer, because for the sake of this they live in a state where there’s beer at the gas station. this is a ridiculous gesture because Haymitch is hosting and they have alcohol coming out of their ears, so Annie lets Finnick use one of her cheeses as his contribution.
#ask and you shall receive#lovely anon#thg#college maybe-ish au anon#idk if crackers are harder to make than bread but it seems like it

Did another one of those charcuterie boards recently for a ... I almost said "girls night" but it wasn't 'cause I'm not??? Soooo "bestie's night". Had some wine [to pair] & then some whiskey [to share, lol]. Big ol' honkin' wheel of brie with honey & chopped candied pecans (could prob do an 8oz next time rather than 1lb 😅), some Genoa salami, calabrese, finocchiona & prosciutto along with 4 different goat cheeses (2 of which were chosen out of curiosity & bewilderment) ~ cranberry cinnamon, horchata & pumpkin spice were the logs & the one cut in wedges is the eternal favorite, the drunken goat. Also pictured some fig-olive crackers, orange chili pepper marinated olives, orange fig jam, sliced baguette & more candied pecans.
Both boards were picked clean by the end. This was a fun & filling dinner for the five of us. & I freaking love putting them together so that's a huge plus too.

what is Triss's ideal charcuterie board layout?
"I dream about it sometimes. And sometimes when Vine has time, and it's a good night for it, she makes it."
"A charcuterie board covering a whole dining table! All the cheeses, all the meats! Buttery crackers, olives, nuts, jam, honey, grapes and figs-"
She's literally weeping with joy at the reminder of it.
"Sometimes I eat until I fall asleep in the pile and wake up and keep eating! Vine doesn't do it all the time though. I go into too many food comas when we do table-spreads."

Breadsticks vs. Bread Rolls: What’s the Difference?
Whether you’re diving into a basket of carbs at your favorite Italian restaurant or planning the bread course for your dinner party, chances are you’ve had to choose between breadsticks and bread rolls. They’re both delicious. They’re both made from similar ingredients. But they’re surprisingly different when it comes to texture, taste, presentation—and even their history.
So, what really sets them apart? Let’s break it down.
First, What Are They Made Of?
At first glance, breadsticks and bread rolls share the same DNA: flour, water, yeast, salt, and sometimes a bit of sugar or oil. But how that dough is handled makes all the difference.
Breadsticks (also known as grissini in Italy) are long, thin, and crunchy. They’re often rolled into slim sticks before baking and brushed with olive oil or butter for added flavor. Some are even sprinkled with herbs, sesame seeds, or cheese.
Bread rolls, on the other hand, are round, soft, and pillowy. They’re the cozy cousin of the breadstick—fluffy on the inside, with a slightly chewy crust on the outside. Think of dinner rolls at Thanksgiving or those little round buns that come with soups and stews.
So yes, same basic ingredients, but totally different vibes.
Texture: Crunch vs. Fluff
This is probably the biggest—and most noticeable—difference.
Breadsticks are all about the crunch. They’re baked until golden and crisp, often dry enough to snap in half with a satisfying crack. That makes them perfect for dipping into marinara, soup, or hummus without getting soggy too quickly.
Bread rolls, by contrast, are all about softness. You bite into one, and it yields—light, airy, and sometimes slightly sweet, especially if enriched with milk or butter. Rolls are ideal for mopping up gravy or making mini sandwiches. Basically, they’re comfort food in carb form.
How They’re Served
Breadsticks tend to show up at Italian restaurants, especially as a pre-meal snack. They’re also popular at parties as part of appetizer platters or charcuterie boards. Their sturdy shape makes them great for dipping or pairing with cheese.
Bread rolls are more versatile. You’ll find them at holiday dinners, tucked into bread baskets, or even used as mini sliders. Because they’re soft and easy to slice, they’re a go-to for filling with meats, jams, or spreads.
A Bite of History
Breadsticks have an elegant origin story. Legend has it they were invented in the 17th century in Turin, Italy, to help a young duke with digestion issues. The long, dry shape was easier on his stomach. Today, they’re still a symbol of Italian culinary tradition.
Bread rolls? They go way back too—think medieval feasts and European taverns. Pretty much every culture has some form of a bread roll, from the French petit pain to the German Brötchen.
Which One Wins?
Honestly, it depends on what you’re in the mood for. Want a crispy snack that won’t fill you up before the main course? Breadsticks are your best friend. Looking for something soft, satisfying, and warm? Bread rolls will hit the spot every time.
In the end, breadsticks and bread rolls are like two sides of the same (delicious) coin. Whether you prefer the satisfying snap of a breadstick or the warm embrace of a dinner roll, both are worthy additions to any meal.
So the next time you’re handed a bread basket, don’t choose—go for both. Your taste buds will thank you.

More Mice!
Whatever the result is, I will attempt to recreate it as a drawing!
#Charcuterie saga#I've adjusted the other mice designs (e.g. Cracker mouse has a scarf now) but those will be shown later.#Thank you all for being so enthusiastic about very specific parts of the charcuterie board. I feel like I have learned a lot!#Team meat has me cackling with the meat chants. team fruit is the loving sibling reassuring the olive lovers that olives count as fruits#Team jams and spreads are getting mighty specific in a way that scratches an itch I did not know I had.#And the chaos sowers...Team Inedible decoration...#You have brought me pinecones. You teased team olives and called them part of your team. Several boxes of lactaid have been added.#You brought me exotic orchid extract in a bottle. It's name eludes me at the moment. Apparently it goes well with cakes.#Overall - Thank you so much to *everyone* who has participated this week. I've had a really fun time!#I hope you enjoy these little mascot mice - no matter what team you are part of B*)

Ok but hear me out for your next party-
Bread charcuterie board.
Like a normal charcuterie board but ratios flipped. Tons of bread. Soft fluffy wedges of French bread. Crusty rustic bread slices. Half loaf of challah you can rip chunks out of. Garlic bread. Naan. Fresh biscuits. Cornbread and banana bread off to the side as the crazier options.
Then a few cheeses, a few meats. Some fruit. A bowl of salted olive oil and vinegar. Good Irish butter on it's own, and also mixed with honey, with garlic and red pepper, with rosemary and thyme. Artisinal jam and preserves.
And then idk what everyone else at the party gets to eat because I eat the whole board by myself but I'll think on it.
