Hi Gina, I’m a 50-plus woman who finds great joy in the music from all the 1D boys and many other young artists. And why shouldn’t I? No one ever tells a man he can’t have hobbies. No one ever says he’s too old to go to a concert or watch a sport or play a video game, and men definitely don’t have any shame in it. So I’d say, if it makes you happy, listen to and celebrate the artists you love, no matter how old you are.

i really dislike when i see posts from older swifties saying omg y'all wouldn't have survived the drought cause as someone who did survive it what do y'all want others to do with this statement you are making? it was a really bad time for both taylor and us as her fans so i don't get the constant reminder to newer fans who didn't go through that time that you did. here's a cookie for not turning on taylor in her worst times. i really wish that you'd leave the newer fans alone about this subject cause they became fans of her later in life. I for instance am so happy that they didn't have to live through that and they get to see taylor happy and thriving in both her personal relationship and professional career. we get it it's a really important time in her life and it's crucial to understanding her now self but stop with this sentiment cause it looks like y'all look down on other people and makes you seem weird from outside perspective

To all my fandom oldies, I am looking for a fanfic that was online in the mid-nineties, so it was probably geocities or angelfire or tripod or something like that. Anyway, it was a Star Wars prequel style fic written before the prequels were released, even before the first rumours came out of Lucasfilm. Anakin was an officer in the Republican army, and his wife was an admiral (I remember that her name was something original and *not* Arcadia, which was always her name in fics of that period). The fic takes place primarily after she asks for a divorce or right after they get divorced. Anakin is not onboard with the separation, but because his wife has connections in the upper echelons, he can't oppose it. So he goes to a bar and gets angry-drunk (I think Palpatine might have been in the bar with him, but not sure about that??), and then crashes his speeder on the way back home or to wherever he was staying. He's massively injured, and this ends up being the reason for the life support suit.

I can't remember the name of the fic at all, or the name of the webpage, but if anyone has a copy of this secreted sonewhere, or at the least some information that I can plug into the Wayback Machine, I would be terribly grateful. I do know that it was someone's individual webpage, and the story was never posted to any of the bigger archives of the time.

I know "60s housewives who invented slash fanfiction" has taken on a life of its own as a phrase, but Kirk/Spock didn't really exist until the 70s and THOSE WOMEN HAD JOBS. They were teachers and librarians and bookkeepers and scientists and they damn well spent their own money going to conventions, printing zines, buying fanart and making fandom happen. Put some respect on their names.

WELL NEVER MIND I will NOT be doing that research project about why older ladies love Louis so much because it seems like the data says older women fans are just... in fandom. Every fandom. Which tracks tbh. But what's actually more unexpected to me is how much of this fandom apparently currently identifies as primarily Louis focused!! WOW! Obviously my blog will reach people who like Louis quite a lot first, but the post went around a bit and got notes from unfamiliar-to-me urls as well as the usual pals, and even if it hadn't, I feel like a few years ago we would never have gotten this balance with more than a handful of people. Incredible! Anyway more general number thoughts below...

not exact (tumblr's percentages are...weird) but roughly 300 people said they were louies vs ~340 who identify as harries/ larries or other. Out of these, 38% (about 250 people) were in the 25-36 year old range, the same age as the guys, with 31%- not quite 200 people- in the under 25 range. 21% (134ish people) were 36-50 years old and about 60 fans who are over 50 years old answered, making up almost 10% of the respondents. The louie vs larrie etc split was about the same across the top 3 age ranges (1-2% in favor of harrie/larrie/etc) with only the under 25s showing almost an even split.

But to return to the original point of the poll: there is no evidence older fans favor Louis in particular, it seems to be the same distribution of Louis vs other as in the other age categories. If anything the U25s have a slight Louis bias only.

following up on the post wondering why do women of a Certain Age go head over heels for Louis specifically, I was wondering if that was even TRUE so- census??

I hate PLEASE REBLOG posts but LBR my blog is not gonna reach a lot of solo harries for example... a little reach WOULD be kind of nice to actually find out some interesting info

(obviously the bottom options will have way more votes by number because they bundle up so many options per one selection but it's the percentages on each section that will be interesting)
