I had to include a FanFiction dot net screen shot for this momentous occasion-
A whopping 10 years ago today I joined ffnet and posted my first sherlolly fanfic. I can barely wrap my head around this amount of time lol. I’m a decade older and my big fandoms have really cooled off, but I’m still enjoying this lil hobby. And I am not exaggerating when I say that the biggest reason for that is the fact that I’ve had such amazing support and feedback from readers over the years. (Especially from sherlolly shippers 🩷) I have to admit I would have walked away long ago if nobody seemed to care about my writing.
So thank you. Thank you for caring right away, even when my writing left much to be desired. And thank you for continuing to care for all these years. 🥹🥳

Hi there! I recently rekindled my love for Sherlolly and I am so, so happy to see you still updating this blog!
I wanted to ask if you know of any fics in a similar vein as this one - Secret Child, with a small side of Parent!lock. Fics that are also similar to recent ones I have read, such as the In the Quiet Places and the Life After Death series, would greatly be appreciated. If you could share similar fics for me to read and discover I would be over the moon.
Thank you! ❤
Coincidentally (not really, since this request is an older one, sorry!!) I have been rereading all of the @miabicicletta fics and you might enjoy "Every blue shade of green" or "Every star a sun"
Anyone else have any recs? Do sing out!

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Thanks for the tag @esmealux ❤️❤️
How many works do you have on AO3?
I have 29 works on AO3. I've been working on a new Lucifer fic for the past 2 years on and off (mostly off) and that'll be my 30th on the site. However, I do have 63 works on ff.net (29 of them are the same) from various fandoms.
What's your total AO3 word count? As of right now, I have a word count of 179,925 words on AO3. I know that total is sometimes some writers' word count for a single fic. ;)
What fandoms do you write for?
Right now, it's mainly Lucifer (and Supernatural). I've been writing fanfics since I was a sophomore in high school. On ff.net I have written for (in no particular order): Bewitched, The Big Bang Theory, Castle, Doctor Who, Forever, Heroes, Jimmy Neutron, Lucifer, Smallville, Supernatural, Timeless, and Will & Grace.
Top five fics by kudos:
The More Things Change... (Lucifer): 1,090 kudos
Been Down This Road Before (Supernatural): 621 kudos
A Unique Guilt Trip (Lucifer): 548 kudos
Trick-Or-Treating Revelations (Lucifer): 543 kudos
Thanks For Listening (Lucifer): 449 kudos
Do you respond to comments?
Yes! I try to respond to every comment if I can... at least on AO3.
What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I don't actually write angsty endings. All my fics have happy endings actually. ❤️
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Oh, wow. Since all my fics have happy endings, it's hard to choose just one... for the ones I wrote over a decade ago, honestly, I can't remember... LOL. Read them if you so choose and pick your own. ;)
Do you get hate on fics?
I would get hate on fics on ff.net but thankfully (not so far) on AO3. When I first started writing fanfics, I interpreted some helpful advice AS hate, but it really wasn't. Thankfully the response is mostly positive on my writing. Sometimes I'll still get some "hate" on ff.net, but I still feel an obligation to post there for consistency since I cross-posted since getting an AO3 account.
Do you write smut?
No. (But I read it).
Craziest crossover:
The only crossover I have written was a Castle & Forever crossover that can be found on ff.net and AO3 called Ties That Bind.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
I think somebody wanted to translate one of my older Smallville fics back in the day. Honestly, I can't remember which one or if it came to fruition.
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Not to my memory, but I used to beta all the time for Smallville. And I was a "consultant" on a fanfic on AO3 from a friend for a Forever and Quantum Leap crossover fic. Plus, I bounce ideas off with fandom friends in the Lucifer fanfiction world. ❤️
All time favorite ship?
Uhhhhhhhhhh... I can't say an all-time favorite ship because I love all of my ships equally. But I'll settle for my top two: Clois (Clark Kent and Lois Lane) and Deckerstar (Chloe Decker and Lucifer Morningstar).
What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I've had a WIP for Sherlock/Sherlolly in my documents for quite a few years. It's a time travel one where Sherlock from post S4 gets sent back to the time between the end of S1 & beginning of S2. I don't think that one is ever gonna be finished to be honest. I never post fics until they're finished anyway, so at least there won't be anybody disappointed. ;)
What are your writing strengths?
I try to pride myself on the characters being written in-character - where the reader can actually picture the actor's expressions, mannerisms, etc - like they're watching an episode. Dialogue is definitely where I excel.
What are your writing weaknesses?
I really suck at descriptions. I'm not gonna lie. I have tried to work on setting the scene and character movements, etc but I still struggle with those factors.
Thoughts on dialogue in another language?
I'm not really great at it. If the character is known to say words or phrases in another language, I might write it in a few times, but nothing that needs a long translation.
First fandom you wrote in?
Jimmy Neutron (on ff.net) when I was about 16 years old.
Favorite fic you've written?
I have a few, but honestly I'm more proud of my Lucifer stories and my one Supernatural story, so I'd have to go with a tie between my first ever Lucifer fic: The More Things Change... and my Supernatural fic: Been Down This Road Before. And right now the Lucifer fic I've been working on for 2 years is quickly becoming a favorite too. LOL. We'll see if people like it once I've finished it and started posting. ❤️
---------
Tagging a few of my fandom friends: @my-crazy-awesome-sox, @mightbeawriter, @wendeckerstart, @kaykat666, @thewollfgang and anyone else who wants to or feels inclined to do it! And to those that I tagged, please don't feel obliged to do it. Love oo!! ❤️

Most kudoed Sherlock fics from 2022
The 10 most popular fics* on AO3 completed in 2022 with Sherlock (TV) as the main fandom. Kudo counts as of 1 Jan 2023.
1. 3497 kudos - Teaching Sherlock by Sherlock1110 (148K, E, Johnlock, Mystrade) Sherlock is 24, his older brother Mycroft has had enough. John Watson is known for training subs, looking after them until they're ready to leave and never getting emotionally attached. At least that was what he thought until he met Sherlock Holmes, the troublesome submissive who no one could tame.
2. 1718 kudos - Helpless Here Below by Mottlemoth (66K, E, Mystrade, Johnlock, Warstan) Mycroft Holmes and Greg Lestrade barely know each other - so John Watson has always believed. When he witnesses a surprising moment of care between them, John starts to wonder if there's more going on than meets the eye
3. 1378 kudos - Indefinite Lines by ArwaMachine (298K, E, Johnlock) Sherlock and John find themselves faced with a series of seemingly disparate cases that are growing increasingly connected, increasingly personal. They must unravel the mystery laid before them by a particularly ruthless set of criminals before the danger is upon them, or else run the risk of being cleaved apart forever, lines scattered to the wind.
4. 1237 kudos - Shift by stopthat (46K, E, Johnlock) Sherlock is tired. John senses a shift.
5. 1219 kudos - Plenipotentials by Ginevra_Benci (54K, M, Mystrade, Johnlock) The first thing your soulmate says in your presence writes itself on your skin as they say it, usually on your chest, arm, or hand, or—if you’re very unlucky—on your face. Greg was very, very unlucky.
6. 1091 kudos - The Impenetrable Mind Palace of Muggle Sherlock Holmes by suitesamba (27K, M, Johnlock) Sherlock is obsessed with the new neighbor - the one who's rented Mrs. Hudson's flat while she spends a year abroad. There's something odd about the amiable man, but Sherlock just can't put his finger on it. And when has Sherlock Holmes ever failed at deducing someone?
7. 992 kudos - Matchmaking for Solitary Animals by ArwaMachine (71K, E, Johnlock, Sherlock/OMC, John/OMC) Upon moving back to Baker Street following Sherlock’s return from the dead, John finds that Sherlock is a bit more keen on entertaining gentlemen callers than he once was, a fact that seems to make John irrationally angry. Intent on proving that he’s not a total dick, John decides to make it his mission to find Sherlock a boyfriend. This, as it turns out, is the worst idea John has ever had.
8. 812 kudos - What Have You Done? by DownpourOfFeels (62K, E, Johnlock, Warstan) John Watson’s wedding was over a year ago now and his friendship with Sherlock Holmes is deteriorating. With a new daughter in the picture, bills to pay and a job to hold down, there’s no time for solving cases - and he’s not as happy as he thought he might be. On the other side of London, Sherlock has never felt more alone. Crushed with regret and running out of distractions, he sneaks off one night to get high - but as he trips, Moriarty escapes from his mind and comes out to play. Will John and Mycroft get there in time to save him?
9. 802 kudos - When It Rains by BlueMoon0nTheRise (98K, M, Mystrade) Ever since Greg Lestrade saved Sherlock's life, Mycroft Holmes' protective streak started to extend to him, too. Whenever Greg is injured or ill, the older Holmes is always there in the background, ensuring that he recovers. And over time, Greg starts to return the favour, when he can.
10. 774 kudos - A Question of Honour by MizJoely (47K, E, Sherlolly) Revolutionary War AU. Colonial spy Molly Hooper is caught sneaking into the quarters of British Army Captain Sherlock Holmes and is saved from hanging only by his assertion that she's actually his mistress. However, once she and the handsome enemy captain are forced to spend time alone in his quarters, will the lie become the truth?
*I excluded collections of standalone ficlets posted as a single work and fics that were actually completed earlier but posted "extras” in 2022.

20 questions for fic writers
tagged by @wonderlandleighleigh ❤️
1. how many works do you have on Ao3? 19
2. what's your total Ao3 word count? As of right now 270,105
3. what fandoms do you write for? So far Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, BBC Sherlock, Beauty and the Beast, and a little bit for Gilmore Girls but I'm open to others if the inspiration strikes. I had an idea for a Only Murders in the Building fic at one point but I haven't gotten around to it yet.
4. what are your top five fics by kudos?
Guess Who's Coming to Yom Kippur
Reflected Through Time
When the Villains Fall
My Sherlolly one shots collection
Saving Lenny Bruce
5. do you respond to comments?
Almost always! I love comments and engaging with readers. Comments bring me so much joy. It still blows my mind sometimes that people actually read the silly things I put out there.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Probably When the Villains Fall? It wasn't exactly a sad ending but it wasn't overly happy either.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Most of my fics end pretty happily (although more of them are still WIPs than not 😅) A Love Most Improbable was sunshine and rainbows amounts of happy ending.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I don't think I have gotten any hate yet. Hopefully it stays that way.
I dunno the fandoms/ships I've written for so far have been pretty chill in the little pockets I hang out in. Like we're all just here writing for a good time sharing stories for free. Let's just be nice to each other.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I haven't.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I enjoy crossovers but haven't written many. None come to mind right now.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge. That would suck though.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Again not to my knowledge but that would be pretty awesome.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Not yet but I'm open to it! I always feel like I'm really slow, trying to juggle writing and #Life. I'd need a patient writing partner.
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
Every ship has its own unique wonderfulness for us to enjoy and explore. I'm mostly writing Midgelenny at the moment but every ship has its season.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Probably A Change in the Winds? That's one of my older ones. It's been a long while. Never say never though.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue and wacky ensemble casts.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Descriptions. I dunno sometimes it all feels hard.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I mean if the characters/story calls for it? Sure? That's one I personally would want to try to be careful with if it's not a language I speak just because it's easy to get things wrong.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
I might have written something for the Tortall books fandom as a kid? Maybe? Otherwise Beauty and the Beast
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
Guess Who's Coming to Yom Kippur has been such a fun ride so far. I can't get enough of it. I feel like it's some of my best work.

47 sherlolly pleaseeeeeeeeeee
47: meeting at a festival au
He’s among people who seem more suited to the false light of a reading lamp than natural sunlight. They gather in dimly-lit tents and listen wide-eyed to the latest literary idol. He’s missing Sussex already.
He wonders dimly how his bees and Redbeard are doing as he scans the crowds, standing in a queue to some debut author’s Q&A. He reaches the entrance. He waves his pass at the staff. In return, they press a book into his hands.
“It’s on request of the author,” they say with a smile, standing by a pile each. Sherlock glances up and down the line. The other attendees are each passed a copy as they enter the tent. Sherlock settles himself at the back of the seating, which is only 100-strong and covered in pink and purple drapes, artfully hung from the lighting.
A small stage is set up. Pink roses, nestled in a white vase, sit on a table between two leather armchairs.
The announcer, or interviewer rather, makes final checks. Feedback briefly sharp against Sherlock’s ears, cut off with a laughing apology by the interviewer. A female, the interviewer is tall. young and red-haired. The shade (natural) reminiscent of Mrs Hudson’s flame-red hair. She wears neat clothing, monochrome and out of place with the romantic atmosphere.
Sherlock glances over the cover. Glossy, plain black, with only the title in colour: a sharp, shocking white. Not a jot of pink or purple.
It’s been a while since he’s held a brand-new cover like this one. He has his library, back at the cottage, which keeps him content enough, and on the occasion that he desires something different, the library often has a long-forgotten classic he can delve into. He’s an old soul, more than willing now to let the present live on without him.
He flicks to the dedication, past the blurb and opening pages. There’s a lot to be told by a dedication.
Dear, a man. He sighs and snaps the book shut. No doubt the author thought that clever, or groundbreaking.
“Ladies and gentlemen, apologies for the wait,“ says the interviewer, holding now the microphone in her right, and a clipboard in her left. The lights overhead focus on the small stage, and she smiles over the audience. "My name is Helena Robertson, and I’ll be doing a small interview with our esteemed author before we begin the actual Q&A section. And I see you’re all digging into your copies! We don’t normally sanction free giveaways of new books, but seeing as this one has sold so many already, we didn’t see the harm!”
A few ripples of laughter flow over the audience. The interviewer continues.
“Our author for today’s exclusive Q&A has been travelling the length and breadth of the country promoting her debut novel, Amo.” Sherlock twitches but the interviewer, getting giddier by the moment, is speaking, so he focuses on that. “After spending much of her writing career in nonfiction, and garnering much respect from her peers, she has now branched out into fiction with her debut novel which has been called ‘outstanding’ by the Guardian, 'a sensory exploration into the mind of humanity’ by the Times and has been in the New York Times bestseller list for seven weeks – though topping it only for two of those seven.”
A humorous sympathy drones from the audience, including the agent. Sherlock shoves his copy underneath his chair and leans back, grunting a little as he shifts. A shorts-wearing middle-aged man scoffs at him and pulls up their socks. Sherlock focuses back on the stage.
The roses are in full bloom.
“So without further ado, please, ladies and gentlemen, please welcome your author – Molly Hooper!”
All of his weight sinks down into the lower pit of his stomach, while his heart flies up in his throat. He coughs, jerking forward as applause ripples over the audience. He sighs. He hears her speak into a microphone, bright-voiced and friendly.
“Hi! Thanks for the welcome – and to Helena for the introduction. Shall we, um—”
“Very well organised!” quips Helena as she and Molly (Molly, Molly, Molly, if he says it enough it won’t throw him) confuse one another over where the other is supposed to sit.
“Much more organised than any other festivals I’ve been to,” Molly replies, earning a few laughs. He sits up straight, closing his eyes, listening as she swaps small talk about traffic with Helena, beginning the interview.
The small talk soon falls into structured questions. Her influences (none, she’s a terrible reader, she confesses); her writing routine (a laptop, coffee and nothing but junk food); the best part of writing; if she believes fiction is a change for good or bad.
"Thanks very much Molly. Does anyone have any questions?"
Helena and Molly look over the audience. Sherlock leans forward, hiding his face from the stage behind an older woman's bouffant hairstyle.
"Yes, the young lady over there."
Sherlock tilts his head, staring through shoulders at the questioner. The young lady is in her 20s, with friends, and giggles as she begins to speak. Helena interrupts her.
"Sorry, you're very quiet -- we'll get you a microphone---" She gestures to someone off-stage, and a crew member darts out, handing a microphone to the 20-year-old. She's blonde, with her hair brushed back into a plait.
"If you could ask your question again," Helena prompts, as she glances at her clipboard.
"Yeah, like, um -- just wanna say, and ask, the book's great, I love it but me and my friends, we were wondering -- about your dedication? We looked everywhere on the internet, at your interviews, it's never been explained... So yeah. Who's the dedication to?"
Helena tilts an eyebrow at Molly, raising her microphone to her lips. "It's true. 'Dear, a man'. I wouldn't be surprised if there are conspiracy sites dedicated to cracking that particular code."
"There are!" shouts one of the girl's friends, leading to uncomfortable giggles.
"Well, there's no particular code to crack. Sorry to disappoint," she adds with a smile.
She looks beautiful. She's grown out of ill-fitting blouses and cardigans that clash. Now, she takes pride in her love of fruit-based clothing. She wears a sundress dotted with cherries and sandals with straps that wind perfectly around her ankles. A thin silver bracelet slips down her arm as she speaks into the microphone.
"The book was always going to be something... something like a journey. Even though the people were fictional, the concepts weren't. So my dedication reflects that, really, though initially, it wasn't supposed to."
"You mean, you wanted to dedicate your book to someone both real and unreal?" Helena asks. Molly shakes her head. Her hair is down around her shoulders, and there's a slight kink in it. She must've had it up most of today, then taken it down just before going on stage.
It reminds him of false curls, a silver bow and red lipstick. He clenches his fists.
"No. It was originally going to be dedicated to someone very real, but I realised, just before publication in fact... he was never one for attention."
"So you took his name from the book because he was shy?"
"No, he was never shy. Never ever," Molly laughs a little, "the furthest from shy. But he never liked getting the attention that he wasn't the cause of."
He'd have to be an idiot not to realise who she is speaking about.
He retrieves his copy from underneath his seat. He opens the opening page.
Amo. The main title. (His hand trembles again.)
The subtitle: A Story of Grief.
Another inquiring mind stands up, passed the audience microphone by the crew member. This one is elderly, with glasses hanging from their neck.
"Grief is one of the strongest elements of this book," they begin. "You seem so young, how come you managed to tap into such a deep emotion?"
"I've spoken in other interviews about this, and the answer's simple: my father died when I was younger." She sounds charming, but terse underneath the brightness. He hides a proud grin. "And grief, and this is a point made in the book, never leaves you."
"This is an important point," Helena says, jumping in. "Sometimes, grief in books is written off as 'one of those things'. Yet your protagonists are never able to get over it, even up until the last page."
"Quite right. Because that reflects life. The immediate grief fades, but the long-term grief, the knowledge that that particular person will not be around anymore -- ever -- is a fact. And facts, as I've learned, are inescapable. But that doesn't have to be a bad thing," she adds quickly. "Grief makes us. Me, for instance. My father's death spurred me onto my career as a forensic pathologist."
"I was just about to discuss that," Helena says, eager but still noting the sober atmosphere. "Others involved in scientific fields, while venturing into creative writing have often become involved with genres like thrillers, or murder mysteries. With you having been a forensic pathologist, it's an easy assumption to make that you would follow that path also."
"And yet I didn't!" She scoops her hair around her shoulder. "I often wonder why I didn't, to tell the truth. It is my field after all, death and its causes. But this book, this story of friends coming together after a tragedy, was what ended up in my head. I think real life bled into my ideas a little bit."
"Real life?" Helena sounds excited. Obviously, this hasn't been discussed before. Molly blushes underneath the lights and shifts in her seat.
"I, um... I used to work alongside the consulting detective, Sherlock Holmes. Right up until he left London, actually. We often saw cases where people came together after a death, and that's where it came from."
Amo. He smiles. Molly Hooper is an excellent liar.
"I have another question! I've got one!" It's the 20-year-old again, waving like she's bringing in a plane. When the crew member rushes over to her, she pulls the microphone from his hands.
"Is Sherlock Holmes the man? The one you were going to dedicate your book to? An online theory said it was---"
"Thank you very much," Helena says loudly, as Molly colours. The 20-year-old's friends tug her down, and they whisper angrily among one another. A brunette of their group gets up and flounces to the back of the tent.
An awful silence falls over the tent.
"Molly," begins Helena, "obviously you don't have to answer..."
Molly hesitates. She brings the microphone to her lips. Crosses her legs, tucking her hand against her side, as if hugging herself one-handed.
"It's fine. Yes, I can confirm that, finally. Sherlock Holmes is the man in my dedication. My reasons why, however, are personal."
"Very understandable," Helena says, eager to gloss over the incident. Sherlock feels thrown, off-balance, has been ever since her name passed Helena's lips and she stepped out on stage.
"Um... sir? Do you have a question?"
He looks up, realising he's stood as he's been staring at the white words: Amo. Another dedication. One only he, John, Mycroft and a handful of high-ranking government officials will ever know.
The crew member runs up to him and holds the microphone out to him.
The world is treacle as he holds it, and lifts it to his lips.
"Hello."
Molly's flushed pallor turns pale. Her brown eyes sweep over, then lock, onto him. He has neither improved or worsened during his time away from her, from London. He'd made the plans for departure, for retirement, in secret, and left everyone hanging. Mycroft found him after a week and Rosie had to be held back by her father when they first came to visit, a month later. Molly... he hadn't searched for her, despite offers from Mycroft. He'd just left her, to grow and blossom as she never would do with him in the picture.
The worst thing is, she has.
Her hair is still as long as it ever was, a rich light brown, her skin sun-kissed from the book tour. A little filled out, from all those luncheons from publishing agents, he suspects. (That's the stereotype, anyway.)
He blushes as he remembers how he's gone grey early. They call it the 'pepper pot' look. Flecks and streaks of grey in his black curls. A slight tummy from all the honey his bees make. A fisherman's jumper with pushed up sleeves over an ironed shirt. Rosie says it's fashionable for men of his age.
He wears glasses now, too. Thick-rimmed ones, rounded non-reflective lenses.
She jumps to her feet suddenly, causing murmurs. She sways, then stills. Her lip trembles, her hand shakes as she brings her microphone to her mouth. Her eyes are wet.
"Hello. Sherlock."

What if . . .
Biff Hooper (from The Hardy Boys) is a distant relative of Molly Hooper (from BBC Sherlock).
At some point Molly visits Bayport to get away from the stress of London and Sherlock and all that. She intends to spend some time with her young cousin, Biff, only to stumble on a mystery with the Hardy Boys.
#thoughts#hahahaha#argeraint#the hardy boys#what if#bbc sherlock#allen hooper#biff hooper#allen biff hooper#molly hooper#frank hardy#joe hardy#imagine molly leaving london to take a break from mysterys and landing in bayport to only be involved with another mystery#i like to think she's an older sister figure to biff#then when she meets the other boys she becomes their older sister figure as well hahaha#the hardys don't really solve much murder—i mean in the flashlight editions—so idk how molly will use her skills#i can see frank questioning her about her work tho#imagine sherlock needing molly's help and specifically only molly can help him so goes straight to bayport#idk if that could happen haha and i guess i just like the thought cause i ship sherlolly haha sorry guys

Hi! Are you still taking prompts?
If so.... “You are very endearing when you are half-asleep.” for Sherlolly.
P.S. Love Impromptu!
Doll, I am ALWAYS taking prompts! Bring 'em on! I put the sentence in the middle of the story instead of the beginning, hope that's not too great a disappointment. 😉
***
Molly heaved a sigh as she shed her coat and bag, tossing them haphazardly onto the yellow chair by the door. Then she kicked off her shoes, sighing again as she wiggled her newly-freed toes. She'd worked a double shift, thanks to a massive car accident earlier in the day. 15 dead, several more injured, but of course, she only had to deal with the dead ones.
Most of them were young, fresh out of uni, some even younger than that. One was a policeman, and Molly had wondered idly if Greg knew him. Two older women, one middle-aged mother, and an unfortunate stray dog (obviously not one of her post-mortems, but still, she felt the poor thing deserved a place on the list of victims).
An awful day, which turned into an awful night, until finally, at half one in the morning, she was able to go home.
221B was dark and still, which meant that Sherlock was either out on a case, or had already fallen asleep. She had texted him during her all-too-brief lunch break to let him know she'd be home late, but never had a chance to see if he'd responded. Molly pulled out her phone to check, and unsurprisingly, found no reply. Things like that didn't bother her, though, not anymore. After two years together, she knew Sherlock's lack of text wasn't a snub.
Molly poured herself a glass of wine to settle her frayed nerves, still a bit on edge from the chaos of the day, then padded her way down the hall.
Sherlock lay on the far side of their bed, curled up and facing away from her. She smiled at his bared back, and a quick flash of heat coursed through her at the thought of what lay beneath the covers that bunched at his waist. Or rather, what wasn't there. But it was too late, and they were both too tired for any shenanigans, so Molly kept on her vest and knickers after stripping the rest of her clothes off.
The moment she settled in bed beside him, Sherlock rolled to his other side, now facing her, and wound his arms around her. "Mmmmolly," he slurred.
"MmmmSherlock," she grinned.
"Missed you."
She laughed through her nose. "Missed you, too."
"Bed was cold," he grumbled, pulling her closer and shivering for good measure.
"You're very endearing when you're half asleep."
He cracked open one eye to scowl at her, but his lips curved into a smile. "Less talk, more warmth."
Too tired to argue (not that she really wanted to), she snuggled closer. He kissed the top of her head, and she hummed sleepily.
"Love you," he whispered.
Molly smiled. "Less talk, more sleep." He softly kicked her foot, and she let out a quiet giggle before replying, "Love you too."

Got one for you! (Though not sure if you are still open for them). "Sherlock, why are we at Moriarty's grave?"
Ok so I just decided to pop onto tumblr on the chrome browser and I saw I had something in my inbox and found this. Idk how long this has been here, seeing as this blog is deactivated! 😬 (EDIT- whoa now that I posted the ask it’s showing as an anon but it was not when I found it in my inbox) Gotta love tumblr, cuz according to the app my inbox is completely empty! 🙄 Anyway, here’s a little sherlolly thing set in the realm of TST, since I feel bad now…
Paying Respects
Molly walked through the bit of snow on the ground, following his much larger footprints but of course still managing to sufficiently soak the hem of her trousers. He hadn’t been very talkative that day, but had simply requested her help with cases since John and Mary were busy with some sort of obstetrician appointment. He was eager to get back to Being Sherlock Holmes, and she was more than elated to know he was staying in London instead of being exiled and likely killed, and so she naturally said she’d help with whatever he needed. No matter that it was on her only full day off that week.
Keeping busy had also proved to be for the best since her messy breakup.
Sherlock finally stopped once he reached the far corner of the cemetery, and Molly came to a stop beside him as well. He used his foot to clear some of the leaves and snow and dirt away, revealing the inscription on a small stone marker, which Molly read and triggered an instant chill to run down her spine.
“Sherlock, why are we at Moriarty’s grave?” Molly peered up at his profile. “You’re not still…are you still worried that he’s…”
“Oh no, he’s most definitely dead,” Sherlock stated without hesitation. “Blew his own brains out. No coming back from that.”
Molly nodded, looking down at the very simple marker and feeling a bit comforted. Not that he’d answered her question, and so she tried again.
“So then, why are we here?”
He paused a long while before finally opening his mouth. “Suppose I wanted to pay my respects, now that I’ve proven to myself that he’s truly gone. He was, after all, rather impressive. He nearly outsmarted me.”
Molly smirked. “Nearly, eh? High praise.”
He turned and looked directly into her eyes, no hint of sarcasm as he spoke. “He also helped me see everything that really mattered. He may not have seen it all, but to me it had never been clearer.”
Unable to look away, Molly gulped, giving him a small smile. “I suppose that does tend to happen. When there’s danger or a crisis, that’s when we find out what our true priorities are.”
“Exactly,” he agreed softly, then shifted his gaze back to the frosty ground, releasing a heavy breath. “I only wish that every evil I encounter might miss some of the things…people…that I hold dear, thereby keeping them safe.”
Molly shrugged. “But if you’re facing off against evil, anyone who truly cares about you wouldn’t choose to hide in safety. We’d rather be right there on the battlefield…with you.”
Sherlock turned back to her, a depth in his eyes as he slowly shook his head. “There may come a day you regret that sentiment, Molly Hooper.”
She looked back to the grave marker and let out a short laugh. “I doubt it. Like you said, Jim Moriarty did remind us of our priorities. I certainly know where mine are.”
Reaching down, before she could think better of it, her gloved hand found his, threading their fingers together and squeezing. To her surprise, he did the same in return, and he didn’t even let go when they began walking. In fact, he kept firm hold on her hand until they’d reached the street and it was time to get a cab and finally get to the cases on his list for that day.
Molly hadn’t any idea what the future would bring and whether there would be more evil to face, but in that moment she felt like she had everything she needed. Right in the palm of her hand.
#sherlolly#wifey answers things#prompt fill#to post on ao3#how old is this ask tho lol#when I saved this to drafts it went to the bottom of the list#which makes me think it’s older than anything in my drafts#and that stuff is over a year old

Decisions, Decisions...
So what do you do when you have a number of incomplete fan fics that you should really be working on, and I have, but then you get majorly distracted my a number of new ideas that are begging to be written?
Stick with the older works, and try to at least get a few of them completed? Or throw myself into the new story ideas to see where they lead?
To be fair, two of the new ideas have had their first chapters uploaded, The Spying Game and Resistance Is Futile.
But its the other three ideas that are currently screaming to be attended to:
1 the VampLock Sherlolly.
2 the Khanolly with a time travel twist.
3 the Victorian Sherlolly with a twist.
To write or not to write, that is the question...
#To continue older incomplete fan fiction#Or to start some new stories that want to be written#Sherlolly#Victorian Sherlolly#Khanolly

@thisisartbylexie I've received my purchases and I love them! Got this lovely calendar that I can place on my table, and I'm glad I'll be able to follow the upcoming months with it while looking at your gorgeous Sherlolly art! And your artbook is a delight to peruse as I spot some of your older art while looking in awe at your newer ones!
Dare I say, I also noticed small differences between your older and newer art, but your style remains the same, which somewhat gives me a comforting feeling; I've lurked in the Sherlolly fandom while the TV show was still active, and to see you draw Reylo was a surprising change to me, but your Reylo art was one of the reasons why I decided to give it a try, and now I'm knees-deep in Reylo too!
Fingers crossed I'd come back and order more from your store again!

The Empty Hearse part II
This is when they started the running gag of “at least he remembers that Lestrade’s first name begins with a G”. Before this I just figured he learned Lestrade had a first name and that would be that.
Honestly I’m pretty bad with names too.
Ahh, the hug he didn’t get from John.
Who is awake at night.
Sherlock’s lucky mrs Hudson didn’t bonk him on the head with the sauce pan.
Yet another ridiculous theory. (Once again dependent on no Moriarty corpse.)
The giggling. The crummy photo print stapled on a terrible dummy. Amazing!
And the very not canon ship that “is just as plausible” as the sherlolly kiss.
Also the slash fan is the one objecting to the hat. (Hat = public image based on misconception. Introduced in the same episode as Irene Adler, who is buried in public misconceptions.) Because she does take it seriously. So while she gets it wrong, she’s still closer to the truth than Anderson.
Mary reading John’s blog like:
Seriously, she’s reading John’s (heterosexual flat matey) description of Sherlock like she’s devouring a harlequin novel.
“Don’t read that!” Someone feeling exposed?
I understand John’s annoyance with her. She’s complaining about “six months of bristly kisses” but until last night he had no idea she disliked it. So she’s the one making it about Sherlock.
She’s very pointedly needling him about Sherlock. It all looks very innocent and cute and almost supportive, until you put it in the larger context.
John has good reason to be mad at Sherlock and want to keep his distance. He has a lot to process and she should be supporting him in that or at least not poke an open wound. Yet she seems to be taking Sherlock’s side, seemingly trying to push for reconciliation when John is vulnerable.
We later learn that she is a masterclass manipulator. This ties back into the failed proposal scene when she rearranged his carefully prepared words. She is needling him about his relationship to Sherlock, explicitly comparing it to their relationship. Basically she’s feeding John’s paranoia about how obvious his devotion to Sherlock is, which activates his “no homo” reflex. “Or I’ll marry you.”
This all builds on the metaphorical facial hair of the episode; John becoming more determined to marry her now because if he doesn’t, everyone will know.
He still shaves it off though.
I love this scene with Mycroft. It is so fucking meta!!
But also I just automatically laugh when the “intellectual master strategist chess game” is revealed be operation!
“Oh bugger!” “Oopsie!”
This series is where these two are their most siblingy.
“Can’t handle a broken heart, how very telling”
Oh Sherlock
You don’t even know
But you will
You will
“I’m the smart one” is such a sibling thing. It took me forever to realize that my older brother wasn’t smarter than me, he was just better than me at some things. I didn’t realize how much better I was than him at math for one thing, so finding that out helped a lot.
Sherlock is like a new convert that wants to spread the message of the joys of friendship.
Mrs Hudson. If there’s anything that can make me doubt, it’s the passing of Una Stubbs. It’s just hard to imagine even one more episode without her.
Sherlock is just passing the time. Basically he’s bored without John. And maybe he’s hoping that Mary will “talk him around”
Making deductions without even meaning to is a family trait it seems. (Not genetically, more like enforced habits.)
“I’ve written a blog on the varying tensile strengths of different natural fibers”
Mrs Hudson may be sarcastic, but as a mechanical engineer who knits, I do have a crying need for this blog.
And now the final point Sherlock was building up.
“Why would anyone mind?”
Also the callback to “how would you know” cements it even further that, at least up until including ASiB, Sherlock’s not had sex. He’s basically turning the words around, which only makes sense if they made a direct hit in the first place.
Look I just need older queer virgin representation. It’s important to me. (And by older, I literally mean anyone past their twenties, which isn’t even old. It’s just treated as too old when it comes too sex and lack of experience in it.)
That cheeky wink to mrs Hudson.
“Undescended testicles.” So balls that haven’t dropped?
I kind of love this trope of two conversations = one dialogue through smash cut.
And now Molly becomes the unquestionably definitive John mirror: literally taking his place.
Solve crimes = date. So very much a mirror.
Also note how Molly, who we learn is engaged, eagerly jumps at the chance of dating Sherlock. A reminder that this is what John would do if certain pesky things like internalized biphobia and society weren’t in the way.
“You’re not being John, you’re being yourself.” She may be a John mirror, but she’s a) her own character and b) not actually John.
People call this version of Sherlock Holmes an unrelenting asshole. But personally I love his refreshing honesty. He’s not interested in the money he could be paid for dragging out the case with the rich husband who embezzled himself to have an affair. Recommending a divorce lawyer for the wife in the same breath he deduced the scumbag.
John just watching the clock tick. Even after Mary’s needling that morning, he’s still counting the seconds until he can go see Sherlock.
Also I feel this next scene corrects one big problem I had with the original version of A Case of Identity: by having Sherlock make the confrontation in front of the victim.
Say what the fuck ever you will about BBC Sherlock, at least they gave this woman the closure that Doyle never gave her.
Also the wrath in his glance to Molly. Sherlock will not suffer assholes that manipulate their stepdaughters. (Could have used more horsewhip, but the victim getting closure is far more important.)
Interesting choice to turn the titles into porn parodies.
Also John just immediately assuming it’s Sherlock.
Why are you thinking that Sherlock would pose as a patient to peddle porn to you, John? Why is that your immediate conclusion?
John? Why does an old man showing you his porn collection make you think that your old heterosexual flat mate is pranking you? John?
I love how overly obviously staged it is.
Yes, Sherlock, you clearly need to analyze this fully clothed skeleton sitting upright by a desk to determine it’s a hoax.
John’s voice in his head.
“How I did it” by Jack the Ripper.
Classic! Everyone loves putting Sherlock Holmes up to solving the most famous unsolved case in London’s history. But this highlights why it always falls flat, the case is still unsolved and attempts to come up with a solution to it will inevitably feel wrong somehow.
Of course the idea of Jack writing an OJ style tell all book, hiding it in a secret compartment in the desk and then just die…
Again, Anderson, the one with the incredibly out there theory/sherlolly fanfic. Just saying.
“You forgot to put your collar up” highlighting that Sherlock does it for John’s sake.
“Why indeed, John.”
Molly getting some really mixed signals here.
Hmm. In Sherlock’s mind being different doesn’t rule out friendships, but romance seem fantastical. How very telling.
“Nothing on any map.” Except later you’re going to be like, oh yeah, no there’s one place.
That’s some damn good resolution on the surveillance.
Instruction to the editor: Go nuts on this sequence. Pretend you’re making a fan made music video.
John oscillating on the pavement.
Also, society stepping in to prevent him from seeing Sherlock/getting the date Molly was angling for.
“Fancy some chips?” Oh god. TLD feels. I can’t.
Did he fuck the chippy guy? It’s one thing to say something that could be innuendo, but it’s the little smile when he says it. Again, I personally prefer him being a virgin. Not because I feel he should be “saved” for John, but because media actually exploring virginity in relation to queerness is interesting to me. But I will not deny reality as it is presented to me.
Plus I’m not sure Sherlock should be trusted with a power drill.
Sherlock does care for Molly.
“Not all the men you fall for can turn out be sociopaths.” “Maybe it’s just my type.”
John mirror.
Also. Foreshadowing.
Remember to check your bonfire stacks for hedgehogs before lighting them up.
Mary sees it’s a skip code. Could probably solve it herself. But she takes it to Sherlock. Because it’s her job. (Also, pretty sure Magnussen confirmed that it wasn’t him at a time when he had no reason to lie about it.) This is something else, this is what she was employed for. Maybe. Honestly, I’m still working out her motivation, because I don’t think her potential employer would care for some of her later choices.
Dropping the chips = saving John is what Sherlock will save his own life for.
Get yourself someone who will step out in traffic to hijack a motorbike for you.
I love how Sherlock thinks in vectors.
Always listen to little kids when they say cryptic shit. That’s when it matters.
This scene illustrates the difference between Sherlock and Mary.
To quote: “Should I ever marry, Watson, I should hope to inspire my wife with some feeling which would prevent her from being walked off by a housekeeper when my corpse was lying within a few yards of her.”
Basically, the trained assassin/fiancee is standing off to the side while the supposed “sociopath” is diving into the fire to dig out John.
Stay tuned for part III after I handle my Duolingo.

1, 6, 7, and 9 about your current fave fic of yours (I'm not familiar with what midgexlenny is, but tell me about it if you want to!)
Lol oh I do sometimes feel bad for my poor Sherlolly mutuals putting up with me while I lose it over a different ship ❤️ they're different but the venn diagram of pairings does overlap in places.
First off, this is Midge and Lenny from Amy Sherman Palladino's The Marvelous Mrs Maisel. They're two foul mouthed stand up comedians in the late 1950s/early 1960s and they're soulmates.
If you enjoy Gilmore Girls level fast paced dialogue but with more f bombs and so so so many pretty dresses I definitely recommend at least bits of the show.
Being that Lenny is a fictionalized version of real life comedian Lenny Bruce (originally intended to only appear in the pilot but they brought him back as part of the show because the chemistry was just too good. The actors are friends in real life and the joy in working together comes through in some really beautiful performances) the final canon of the show was a bit handcuffed on just how far the creators decided they could let the ship sail but that's where the fanfic comes in 😂
Which brings me to my fic Guess Who's Coming to Yom Kippur!
*What is your favorite thing about this fic?*
This was my first dive into writing for this fandom and it has been so much fun. Truly delightful! So many things I've enjoyed with this one. But my favorite thing I think is that it really is an ensemble piece. The characters of the show are all very nuanced, often delightfully flawed, sometimes wacky individuals and I love giving them all a seat at the table and getting to know them. Sometimes quite literally within the fic (it centers around a big family dinner for several chapters). I've had to think of scenes cinematically and it's stretched my dialogue writing in a really enjoyable way. There's at least one scene I wrote visualizing it as a long tracking shot with characters moving in and out, very high energy and lovingly chaotic. It's a fic that has a lot to do with family both found and blood related and how love can show up and show through in a lot of humorous ways.
*Were there any alternative versions of this fic?*
Yes! I originally came up with the idea a season prior to my actually getting around to writing it (wrote it after watching season 4, thought of it watching season 3). The original vague concept for it was much shorter and ended with Midge and Lenny in more of an ambiguous but hopeful "maybe someday" where as the current fic has them very much endgame. And I'm quite happy with that. I feel like I discover more about the story and the characters the longer I work on it. I'm eventually going to write a sequel because I'm having so much fun (another first for me!)
*Favorite line of narration/ Favorite bit of dialogue*
So this fic is currently sitting at over 62k words and counting (it comes with trying to emulate Amy Sherman Palladino levels of dialogue) Easily the longest thing I've written 😅😅😅 I'm not sure I could pick any specific favorites without reading through the whole thing again. And maybe not even then. There's a lot of moments I'm very fond of. Though most probably require more context than would make it easy to share. I'll include a snippet of the tracking shot arrival scene I mentioned since that doesn't require a ton of context from the show other than knowing the names mostly.
In this bit they're arriving at a party hosted by Midge's ex in-laws and Lenny is meeting her older brother Noah and his wife Astrid for the first time. Esther is Midge's two year old daughter. Noah is canonically a secret agent. Lenny is known for getting arrested for things he says in his stand up (a proponent of free speech in a red scare era).
They arrived at the Maisel residence as dusk began to settle in over the sleepy suburb.
"Hi everyone! Sorry we're late. Esther needed to make a pit stop," Midge called out as they let themselves through the front door.
"Us too! We just got in," Noah said from somewhere deeper in the house.
Midge set the kids loose and made her way towards the kitchen. "Mama, Shirley, what can I help with? Oh, Esther sweetie, I don't think Grandma wants you touching that."
"Hi Midge," Astrid greeted, coming in holding little Chaim.
"Hey Astrid! One second," Midge called over her shoulder, rushing to corral Esther away from the more breakable tchotkes. "Esther. Esther put that down!"
Lenny smiled, collecting the kids discarded shoes into a pile by the door.
"Oh hi! You must be Midge's friend." Astrid gave him a welcoming smile.
"Lenny," he supplied.
"Lenny. So nice to meet you. I'm Astrid. This is Chaim." She held her son out for him to hold, passing him off. "Would you mind?"
"Oh I–" Lenny took Chaim in hand on reflex as Astrid didn't wait for a yes or no.
"Thanks."
She gave him another quick smile before dashing out the front door and wretching over the porch rail.
Lenny held Chaim at arms length, both too stunned by the transfer to know how to proceed.
"Hello…" he attempted, looking the child in the eye.
"Astrid, honey?" Midge's brother's lanky limbs carried him into the foyer in search of his wife.
Midge returned with a rescued porcelain figurine in hand. "Hey Noah, how was traffic–oh my god."
She stepped out immediately to check on Astrid the moment she saw her, leaving Lenny with Noah and his offspring.
"Yours, I believe," Lenny said finally, handing Chaim to Noah.
"Yeah…" Noah replied, taking his son while glancing after his wife and sister in concern.
The two men stared each other down for a moment, neither one quite sure how to react to the other.
"I'm Lenny."
"I know."
