||His precious doberman princess||
Hi there dears, after a recent question I saw an anon sent, I got this idea for it. So I hope you like it.
||Drabble Summary||
So far, everyone was recovering after what happened even with the whole situation with a few members having some animal features. While Jaron was getting used to his own doberman tail and ears remaining, he hopes they go away. However, he was not expecting something to happen when he got a phone call from the Vixen leader Jinx. What could the message be? Read to find out!
||Warning||
-No bad warning but warm fluff and cuteness
-one jackal panicking after what he finds out
-Shy lung dragon
((Guests in this drabble))
Jaron Jackal as well as the DBT and others belongs to my friend @demon-blood-youths
Melinda brooks from the cursed Vixens and others belongs to me. Others may appear as guests in this but just a heads up. :3
((Just a heads up: Grammar is not good and their will be heavy mistakes but this was written for fun so please enjoy. ))
Today was a normal day for the fractions in NYC along with others enjoying the start of the brand new year. It seems like everyone else is doing alright so far, chilling with their teammates and friends. However, it was like nothing can ruin this with checking on the DBT.
In the kitchen, Jaron Jackal was fixing up some food for his team while flipping some pancakes. The smell already woke up everyone else while they were excited to eat in a moment.
"Mmmm everyday is the best morning because nothing beats Jaron's home cooking. especially during breakfast" Ink smiled rubbing her hands together while seeing the others fixing up the table this morning. She was already excited seeing the stacks of pancakes and waffles on the plates as he sets them on there.
"Though, you think anything crazy might happen this morning?" Navarro asked but he yawns scratching his head a little. Hearing this, Jaron looks to the team but smiled.
"Depends on what might happen, Navarro. Besides, I'm sure today will be a good day for us." He was still making more pancakes when finishing the waffles when seeing Maggie setting some plates down of bacon, eggs, toast, and so on. The news was playing from the living room so they can enjoy their breakfast. Ophelia and Hellmare was helping as well put the food on the table.
When Jaron was done, it was now time to eat! The spread was big but he always liked cooking for them seeing their happy faces. "Alright, breakfast is served. Dig in everyone." he laughed.
"Thanks Jaron!" They said before setting up their plates with what they liked this morning. The food was so good that it made them get enough but not too much.
As they were about to eat, however, Ink heard her phone going off. "???" she looks down seeing it was Jinx's phone number.
"Who's that Ink?" Ophelia asked holding her fork wondering who is calling so early this morning.
"huh, It's Jinx. I wonder what she needs?" she goes to answer it.
"Maybe giving her demon sister a good morning." Hellmare smiled thinking about it since she knew how close Jinx and her were. Ink smiled but she didn't mind that while answering the phone.
"Hello demon sis! What's up?" she asked hearing the other on the phone. Her smile still remains but then it changed to looking confused.
"Huh? Your coming over? All of you? Oh sure but why-" she stops hearing Jinx talking to make her look confused. Even the team noticed now wondering what was going on.
"Ooohhhhh kaaayyyy...but why you sound like your out of breath for some reason.....no it's fine. We'll see you soon." she said. This confused the others.
"So what's wrong?" Ophelia asked.
"Something about the vixens coming to visit. Though, she didn't tell me why. She hung up quickly before I could ask her. But I'm sure it's nothing serious. Maybe they wanna visit and hang out for a while!" she smiled even if her team thinks about it. Not that it's a problem knowing they love seeing their friends visit from time to time but...that was sorta fast right?
The others were confused about this but they will see later on when they can.
Though..they would not expect this to happen later on.
Around noon, the DBT were all dressed up as usual hanging out and doing their own thing. Navarro was working on something, Maggie was in a video phone call with Gerald and Taz from where they are. She was checking up on them. Rust playing some games with Oblivion. Ophelia was humming checking on some new potions, Hellmare was out visiting Hiroshi for now. Fosh was working on some things on his laptop or checking the hacker's site. And Jaron was cleaning up the dishes in the kitchen.
Seems like things are okay till....
A knock was heard to make Ink look up. "Hmm? I wonder who that could be?" She goes to get the door seeing the others look up wondering the same. The knocking kept going.
"Hold on, I'm coming." Ink said happily as she opens the door. "Hello-" Right away, she saw Jinx come in along with her team who was gently helping someone who was wearing a cloak. That other was Melinda?
"Jinx??"
The other DBT members heard and looks seeing the cursed Vixens, the team that was watching over or stationed at Central park. They did come for a visit but....something was off.
"Uhhh hey demon sis! Just coming to visit is all hope you don't mind!" she said laughing as the vixens went in but Jinx was careful getting Melinda inside.
"We don't mind at all. It's nice to see you visit though...why is Melinda wearing that?" Ink sees her wearing a hooded cloak but she was just as confused as them. The rest of the DBT came in but stops seeing what was going on. Even Jaron was confused.
"?????????"
"Girls, I can't see. What is even going on? Where are we!?" she said but they sit her down as Breezy helps to see Melinda blink to look.
"Jinx? What is-"
"Uhhhh what's going on? Did something happen?" Jaron asked but the vixens looks to him as he sweatdrops confused. Did something happen? They seem to have rushed over here even if they could have used a portal Jinx sorta panicked but that's explains for another time.
"Jinx???" Before long, Jinx goes to look at Jaron then at Melinda.
"Uhhhh....we can't explain it..."
"Wait, how come you can't tell us? I'm sure whatever it is we can hel-"
"No no. I can tell the others but not to you or Melinda."
"What?"
"Huh?"
Melinda and Jaron were really confused but Melinda didn't understand.
"Well, can I at least take off the hood and cloak...It's really warm with this on-"
"NO! Not yet!" Jinx said stopping her as she heard Melinda yelp but Jinx looks to Jaron. He sweatdrops wondering what happened or did he do something wrong?
"Okay what is going on? Why can't she take off this thing? Are hiding something from me? Or from her?" Jaron asked.
"Ehhhhh, well I'm not but she don't know! I think it's best for you to see for yourself. So..you and her, in there or go to a room! We need to talk to Ink and the rest of the team!" Jinx said.
"Wait what?" Both Jaron and Melinda was confused.
"Breezy what is happening here???" Rust whispered to Breezy but she looks to him but whispers into his ear what is going on. He said nothing confused till his eyes widen to quickly look at her then at Melinda.
"Wait..your kidding right?"
"Nope...not kidding."
"........"
"Rust? What is going on...what did she say to you?" Maggie asked.
"......Ummm.......I...."
"...Hold on.." The vixens begins whispering what is going on to everyone except Jaron and Melinda. When being told the information, they had the same reaction like Rust did. Looking at them then at Melinda who was really confused now.
"Uhhh....What's wrong? Why are you guys staring at me l..like that?" she asked. Ink blinks but she looks to Jinx who nod saying it's true.
"....Woahhhhhh....that's...huh.." Ink was shocked.
"You have got to be fucking kidding me.." Navarro was speechless.
"......Well, this is..something..and Navarro language." Shdwkyz said with a sigh.
"Oh shut up Shdwkyz! You would be shocked too if you had that too!"
"I..I got no words.." Maggie mutters.
"Geez...." Fosh was worried.
"Hmmm..." Ophelia said nothing but it was still shocking.
"Oh dear..." Opheila said but didn't know.
"GUYS! What the heck is going on-" Jaron was about to ask but Rust stops him. "???"
"You know we can talk about it! However, You two! In a room now!" Breezy said but picks Melinda up who yelps and was pushed into Jaron's arms.
"H..Hey! What is going on?!" he said but was gently shooed away with Rust and Breezy helping them into a room. Breezy Rust gets them inside but shuts the door to leave them in there. Everyone blinks seeing this but lets out a sigh.
"Uhhhhhh..."
"Okay..we can explain fully now. Though, Melinda will know sooner or later..."
"What the hell is going on!? How in the world did that even happen to her!?!" Navarro said but Echo calms him down.
"We don't know how it happened! We just found out this morning!!" she said confusing the DBT.
"Eh?"
"*Sighs* In short..something hit Melinda we are guessing but we don't know how how she got...'them'." Vivi explains.
"Strange how?" Oblivion asked.
".......Well, remember that one time that some of you were infected with that so call strain or S-HYDE venom or something? "she asked seeing some nod.
"Hold on, did Melinda get some in her?! But how! We thought we got rid of em!" Ink said but Jinx shook her head.
"No no not like that....she wasn't bitten like that or anything but...something happened and well...she has...some new added features as we explained." Jinx said rubbing her head but really confused the DBT.
"??????"
~~~In the room~~~~
"Geez, what was up with that?" Jaron mutters sitting on the ground wincing. They seriously push a bit rough but at least Melinda was alright. Being careful, he looks to Melinda. "Are you okay?" he asked.
"Yes I'm fine. I'm so sorry about that..I don't know what gotten into them. They were fine yesterday and now..they are acting all worried given they made me wear something to cover my head." she said showing the hooded cloak she had.
"Uhhh why did they make you wear this?" he asked.
"No idea. I mean, I guess something is going on given they reacted like that." she said shrugging. Jaron was confused but he sighed.
"Well, their has to be a reason if they got you wearing this." he said helping her sit up as she was sitting on the ground to stand up.
"Maybe Jinx never told me." Melinda was confused removing the cloak and hood from her. She felt it over her head but shook her head seeing her black hair in a pony tail today. That and wearing the cloak was hot too.
"Honestly, I don't know my self..maybe theirs some attack going on? I don't know." she mutters thinking. However, she didn't know the main reason.
"Well, I'm sure we will figure it out. In the mean time, you will be sa-?!" as soon as he looks to her, his own eyes widen. From what he saw in her black hair were two familiar dog ears that was down but twitching happily.
Wait....
'H..Hold on....dog ears?....no.....Doberman dog ears?! W..WHAT THE HECK!? T..the..ear...h..how? How does she..' still in shock, Jaron was speechless seeing the ears but then saw something wagging behind her. A tail! She had a tail too?!?
'....Oh no....' he was hoping it was not true but he walks over to get a closer look.
"I wonder if the girls are worried about some attack. Or maybe it's something else." she mutters to herself. However, as she was thinking, that's when she tenses to feel Jaron's hands.
"Huh? Jaron? What's wrong?" she asked but he was quiet worried. He gets a closer look but saw the familiar dog ears! So it was true!! She did have them! They were down but were floppy ears.
"?????"
"......How is this possible? How in the world could this have happened?!" he said but Melinda was more confused.
"Jaron, what is it? Is something on my head? Is their something in my hair?" she asked feeling his hands but he was silent to be worried.
"...Ummm...If I tell you. You won't get too shocked will you?" he asked.
"Uhh No? But why would I be?" she really didn't know. Sighing, Jaron moves to set her down on the bed to sit but he goes to get a mirror for her to see. He holds it up to show her reflection to her.
"????" she was confused. "What am I looking at here? I see myself?" she asked.
"I know. Here just hold the mirror." She blinks to look at Jaron then reaches to take it. When she did, Jaron goes to carefully rest his hands on her head but moving some of her black hair to show something. The doberman floppy dog ears.
"Huh? What is.....wait....are those dog ears?" she asked confused but Jaron looks to sit in front of her.
"Yes....."
"...........W..Wait......" She sees Jaron remove his own hat showing his own doberman dog ears with the tail not wagging. However, Melinda reaches to feel for herself.
Right away, she felt something there alright. Two doberman dog ears. They were there! Her silver eyes were wide seeing this, feeling them but she was even hearing some light pats behind her seeing the tail finally.
".....!?!?....." She seriously had a tail!! And ears!? How was this possible what was going on!?
Jaron sighed seeing her shocked but looks to her.
"So...they are...I have.....I got.."
"Yeah...but how...how in the world did you even get them? "he asked to look at her but he only sees her lower her hands from her head looks down confused.
"I don't know I Just..I didn't even know I had them." she looks to Jaron seeing him look at her then looks down again to sigh.
"Guess you do know since that explains why Jinx and them freaked out like before....." He mutters but Melinda was looking quiet then lowers her hands to ask,
"T..then.."
"?????"
".....A..are they real....are they.." she mutters but Jaron looks worried.
"...They are real Melinda.." he said.
"........." she didn't say much but Jaron was worried but she said nothing for a moment before looking silent.
"T..then can you..t..tell? Are they....."
"Hmm?"
"C..can you umm...d...double c..check t..to be sure?"
Wait, was she asking him to test it? He didn't say anything but looks to her. In a moment, Jaron reaches to pet her head gently. Right away, she closes her eyes from the head pets but she felt her own tail wagging slowly from the happy pets. Even her ears twitched from him touching them.
"......"
'They even feel real too..so soft..' he thought blushing petting her as she was closing her eyes but feels the doberman ears twitching. However, he even carefully scratches behind the ears when a happy whine came from her. It's like she was a happy puppy a he blinks to blush heavily still scratching her ears more.
She was smiling while closing her eyes, feeling the scratches behind her ears wagging her tail even more. Even leaning into his touch wanting more ear scratches. Yeah, she seriously is precious.
"N..Nice..your scratches feel nice.." she said softly blushing.
"..I......."
'What the heck am I doing!? I mean....she's super adorable but..no no focus Jaron..' he thought but Melinda looks to him when she opens her eyes to blink.
"Sorry sorry.." he said trying to calm down but sighs. "Well, I can confirm the ears and tail are real.." he said.
"Really?"
"Yes. So...that does explain why your team was hiding your ears and tail. Knowing that others might be..unsure on how to react." he said.
"That or....others finding out." He knew most might be confused but worse; other guys might find out and try to touch or pet her. Now he can't have that can he?
As Jaron and Melinda were talking, the others were shocked hearing the story from Jinx at what happened. Now they were trying to figure out how to help her.
~~~~with the other DBT And cursed Vixens~~~~
"So...let me get this straight; Melinda got hit with something and now..she has dog ears and a tail like Jaron does?" Ink asked seeing the vixens nod.
"And now you guys been hiding her ears and tail since then?" Ophelia asked.
"Yeah, we didn't know how to tell her so..I guess Jaron will tell her. Even so. We figure someone hit her with some magic or something but we don't know how long the ears and tail will be." Echo said which shocked the DBT.
"Geez......"
"So it's something like that but...it's strange how that worked in a way.....but..is she is alright and don't know about the ears or tail?" Maggie asked.
"Well, Jaron must have told her so she must know by now." Jinx said rubbing the back of her head. For now, the girls were unsure on how Melinda would react but the DBT knew Jaron will keep her calm. Given the situation.
"Yeah, I still stand by what I said.." Rust said with arms crossed.
"And that is?" Ink said confused.
"Those two were seriously made for one another. I mean dang! It's like if they kept those ears they might end up really having pups in the future!" He laughed only to get bonked by Shdwkyz. "OW!"
His eye was twitching hearing this while holding the sheath of his katana with the others sweatdropping to sigh.
~~~~~~~With Jaron and Melinda~~~~~~~
"So it seems were in the same predicament huh? I was not expecting to even get these like you." she mutters while her ears were down still with Jaron rubbing her back.
"I know it's a lot but.....It won't last long since you said it will go away." he said but deep down he thought she looked precious with the ears and tail! He wanted to cuddle and pet her to see her being happy-No no no not now! He looks quiet but Melinda remains quiet to sigh.
"Well, at least we have something in common. I got these cute adorable ears like you do...that means we really were meant to be huh?" she smiled even if Jaron blinks to blush even worse that he covers his mouth feeling his tail wagging happy to hear that. Damn it why did she have to be so precious!?
"?????" She blinks but looks seeing the tail hitting the sheets behind him. However, Melinda only smiled to gently take his hand as he blinks to look at her. Even her own tail was wagging happily.
"Sorry it's just....please don't think this is weird but you seriously are adorable..even with the ears and tail....." he mutters but she only blushed to look down.
"Y...You think so?" she asked to see that Jaron nods not looking at her. However Melinda blushed more that she even hugs him suddenly while her own tail wags happily behind her. He didn't move but he just reaches to pet her head seeing the ears.
"Y...Yeah..you really do look adorable....."
"Awwww, you're so sweet. I mean, I didn't know I had them but I'm happy I do...even if I know they will go away when they do r..right?" she asked and yet Jaron sighed. True, he was still waiting for his own ears to go away.
"But..I guess this means we will be there for one another even with the dog ears and tail." she said but Jaron looks to the side to sigh.
"Yeah....that's true. Though I will ask if you can be sure you hide your ears and tail. I don't..want anyone else to see you this cute. I only want to see it." he mutters even if Melinda heard that to blink.
"W..Wait..did I hear that right?" she asked but saw his face dark from blushing.
"Well yes. I know you will have them for a while but..I don't want other guys trying to do something to you. So...that's why I just figure I...ask.." he said and yet Melinda blinks to gently smile. All Melinda did was hug him but her tail was resting on his own.
"Don't worry I'll be fine silly..but I won't let another guy touch or pet me....I'll be alright." she said softly even kissing his cheek that Jaron blinks. He just sighed but was petting her again while she smiled feeling her ears twitch thanks to it. However, her tail was still resting on his own as his own was wagging like hers.
"Good......" He mutters happy even nuzzling the top of her head. Right into her ears as she blinks to close her eyes giggling from the soft nuzzles.
"H..Hey, that tickles <3.." she giggled happy but Jaron smiled even so. Still so precious.
Seems the two were alright with this even going on. Though, they would rest up for a bit before leaving the room to hang out with the others. The DBT and the Vixens were worried but they knew deep down Jaron and Melinda will be alright. Though, they did wonder how long the ears and tail will last for the time. For now, Jaron will savor the moment just like Melinda doing the same with him.
That and getting used to this for the time being.
Audacious, handsome, and dangerously charming, Nicolas Fox is a natural con man, notorious for running elaborate scams on very high-profile people. At first he did it for the money. Now he does it for the thrill. He knows that the FBI has been hot on his trail -- particularly Kate O'Hare, who has been watching his every move. For Nick, there's no greater rush than being pursued by a beautiful woman... even one who aims to lock him up. But just when it seems that Nicolas Fox has been captured for good, he pulls off his greatest con of all: He convinces the FBI to offer him a job, working side by side with Special Agent Kate O'Hare. Problem is, teaming up to stop a corrupt investment banker who's hiding on a private island in Indonesia is going to test O'Hare's patience and Fox's skill. As a tattoo artist with a monster motorcycle, Chase Trepasso isn't the kind of guy you bring home to mom and dad. But she hadn't counted on her grandfather's one condition of her taking over: marry his godson, Chance Mobley. 94. Undead and Unwed It's been a helluva week for Betsy Taylor. First, she loses her job. Then, to top things off, she's killed in a car accident. Every night she rises, with a horrible craving for blood. She's not taking too well to a liquid diet. Worst of all, her new friends have the ridiculous idea that Betsy is the prophesied vampire queen, and they want her help in overthrowing the most obnoxious, power-hungry vampire in five centuries--a badly dressed Bela Lugosi wannabe, natch. Frankly, Betsy couldn't care less about vamp politics, but they have a powerful weapon of persuasion: designer shoes. How can any self-respecting girl say no? But a collection of Ferragamos isn't the only temptation for Betsy. It's just a lot safer than the scrumptious Sinclair--a seductive bloodsucker whose sexy gaze seems as dangerous as a stake through the heart...
96. Walking Dead For once, Joanne Walker's not out to save the world. She's come to terms with the host of shamanic powers she's been given, her job as a police detective has been relatively calm, and she's got a love life for the first time in memory. Not bad for a woman who started out the year mostly dead. But it's Halloween, and the undead have just crashed Joanne's party. Now, with her mentor Coyote still missing, she has to figure out how to break the spell that has let the ghosts, zombies and even the Wild Hunt come back. Unfortunately, there's no shamanic handbook explaining how to deal with the walking dead. And if they have anything to say about it – which they do – no one's getting out of there alive.
Would his harebrained scheme to get a bank loan for his business backfire once Maggie arrived in his small Vermont town and let the gossips take a look? Maggie never expected her employer to be drop-dead handsome, or to affect her like a belt of bourbon on an empty stomach, but she was too intrigued by his offer to say no... and too eager to escape a life that made her feel trapped. The deal was strictly business, both agreed... until Hank turned out to be every fantasy she'd ever had, and Maggie was so bright, funny and downright irresistible that Hank fell head over heels in love! How Exactly Do You Catch Covid-19? There Is a Growing Consensus
Six months into the coronavirus crisis, there’s a growing consensus about a central question: How do people become infected?
It’s not common to contract Covid-19 from a contaminated surface, scientists say. And fleeting encounters with people outdoors are unlikely to spread the coronavirus.
Instead, the major culprit is close-up, person-to-person interactions for extended periods. Crowded events, poorly ventilated areas and places where people are talking loudly—or singing, in one famous case—maximize the risk.
These emerging findings are helping businesses and governments devise reopening strategies to protect public health while getting economies going again. That includes tactics like installing plexiglass barriers, requiring people to wear masks in stores and other venues, using good ventilation systems and keeping windows open when possible.
Two recent large studies showed that wide-scale lockdowns—stay-at-home orders, bans on large gatherings and business closures—prevented millions of infections and deaths around the world. Now, with more knowledge in hand, cities and states can deploy targeted interventions to keep the virus from taking off again, scientists and public-health experts said.
That means better protections for nursing-home residents and multigenerational families living in crowded conditions, they said. It also means stressing physical distancing and masks, and reducing the number of gatherings in enclosed spaces.
“We should not be thinking of a lockdown, but of ways to increase physical distance,” said Tom Frieden, chief executive of Resolve to Save Lives, a nonprofit public-health initiative. “This can include allowing outside activities, allowing walking or cycling to an office with people all physically distant, curbside pickup from stores, and other innovative methods that can facilitate resumption of economic activity without a rekindling of the outbreak.”
The group’s reopening recommendations include widespread testing, contact tracing and isolation of people who are infected or exposed.
A Recipe for Infection
Getting the Covid-19 virus involves three steps.
1
Coughing, talking and breathing creates virus-carrying droplets of various sizes.
2
Enough virus has to make itself over to you or build up around you over time to trigger an infection.
3
The virus has to make its way into your respiratory tract and use the ACE-2 receptors there to enter cells and replicate.
One important factor in transmission is that seemingly benign activities like speaking and breathing produce respiratory bits of varying sizes that can disperse along air currents and potentially infect people nearby.
Health agencies have so far identified respiratory-droplet contact as the major mode of Covid-19 transmission. These large fluid droplets can transfer virus from one person to another if they land on the eyes, nose or mouth. But they tend to fall to the ground or on other surfaces pretty quickly.
Some researchers say the new coronavirus can also be transmitted through aerosols, or minuscule droplets that float in the air longer than large droplets. These aerosols can be directly inhaled.
That’s what may have happened at a restaurant in Guangzhou, China, where an infected diner who was not yet ill transmitted the virus to five others sitting at adjacent tables. Ventilation in the space was poor, with exhaust fans turned off, according to one study looking at conditions in the restaurant.
Aerosolized virus from the patient’s breathing or speaking could have built up in the air over time and strong airflow from an air-conditioning unit on the wall may have helped recirculate the particles in the air, according to authors of the study, which hasn’t yet been peer-reviewed.
Sufficient ventilation in the places people visit and work is very important, said Yuguo Li, one of the authors and an engineering professor at the University of Hong Kong. Proper ventilation—such as forcing air toward the ceiling and pumping it outside, or bringing fresh air into a room—dilutes the amount of virus in a space, lowering the risk of infection.
Another factor is prolonged exposure. That’s generally defined as 15 minutes or more of unprotected contact with someone less than 6 feet away, said John Brooks, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s chief medical officer for the Covid-19 response. But that is only a rule of thumb, he cautioned. It could take much less time with a sneeze in the face or other intimate contact where a lot of respiratory droplets are emitted, he said.
Superspreaders
At a March 10 church choir practice in Washington state, 87% of attendees were infected, said Lea Hamner, an epidemiologist with the Skagit County public-health department and lead author of a study on an investigation that warned about the potential for “superspreader” events, in which one or a small number of people infect many others.
Members of the choir changed places four times during the 2½-hour practice, were tightly packed in a confined space and were mostly older and therefore more vulnerable to illness, she said. All told, 53 of 61 attendees at the practice were infected, including at least one person who had symptoms. Two died.
Several factors conspired, Ms. Hamner said. When singing, people can emit many large and small respiratory particles. Singers also breathe deeply, increasing the chance they will inhale infectious particles.
Similar transmission dynamics could be at play in other settings where heavy breathing and loud talking are common over extended periods, like gyms, musical or theater performances, conferences, weddings and birthday parties. Of 61 clusters of cases in Japan between Jan. 15 and April 4, many involved heavy breathing in close proximity, such as karaoke parties, cheering at clubs, talking in bars and exercising in gyms, according to a recent study in the journal Emerging Infectious Diseases.
The so-called attack rate—the percentage of people who were infected in a specific place or time—can be very high in crowded events, homes and other spaces where lots of people are in close, prolonged contact.
An estimated 10% of people with Covid-19 are responsible for about 80% of transmissions, according to a study published recently in Wellcome Open Research. Some people with the virus may have a higher viral load, or produce more droplets when they breathe or speak, or be in a confined space with many people and bad ventilation when they’re at their most infectious point in their illness, said Jamie Lloyd-Smith, a University of California, Los Angeles professor who studies the ecology of infectious diseases.
But overall, “the risk of a given infected person transmitting to people is pretty low,” said Scott Dowell, a deputy director overseeing the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s Covid-19 response. “For every superspreading event you have a lot of times when nobody gets infected.”
The attack rate for Covid-19 in households ranges between 4.6% and 19.3%, according to several studies. It was higher for spouses, at 27.8%, than for other household members, at 17.3%, in one study in China.
Rosanna Diaz lives in a three-bedroom apartment in New York City with five other family members. The 37-year-old stay-at-home mother was hospitalized with a stroke on April 18 that her doctors attributed to Covid-19, and was still coughing when she went home two days later.
She pushed to get home quickly, she said, because her 4-year-old son has autism and needed her. She kept her distance from family members, covered her mouth when coughing and washed her hands frequently. No one else in the apartment has fallen ill, she said. “Nobody went near me when I was sick,” she said.
Being outside is generally safer, experts say, because viral particles dilute more quickly. But small and large droplets pose a risk even outdoors, when people are in close, prolonged contact, said Linsey Marr, a Virginia Tech environmental engineering professor who studies airborne transmission of viruses.
No one knows for sure how much virus it takes for someone to become infected, but recent studies offer some clues. In one small study published recently in the journal Nature, researchers were unable to culture live coronavirus if a patient’s throat swab or milliliter of sputum contained less than one million copies of viral RNA.
Air travel is full of opportunities for coronavirus transmission. Touchless check-in, plexiglass shields, temperature checks, back-to-front boarding and planes with empty middle seats are all now part of the flying experience, and the future may bring even more changes. Illustration: Alex Kuzoian
“Based on our experiment, I would assume that something above that number would be required for infectivity,” said Clemens Wendtner, one of the study’s lead authors and head of the department of infectious diseases and tropical medicine at München Klinik Schwabing, a teaching hospital at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich.
He and his colleagues found samples from contagious patients with virus levels up to 1,000 times that, which could help explain why the virus is so infectious in the right conditions: It may take much lower levels of virus than what’s found in a sick patient to infect someone else.
Changing policies
Based on this emerging picture of contagion, some policies are changing. The standard procedure for someone who tests positive is to quarantine at home. Some cities are providing free temporary housing and social services where people who are infected can stay on a voluntary basis, to avoid transmitting the virus to family members.
The CDC recently urged Americans to keep wearing masks and maintaining a distance from others as states reopen. “The more closely you interact with others, the longer the interaction lasts, the greater the number of people involved in the interaction, the higher the risk of Covid-19 spread,” said Jay Butler, the CDC’s Covid-19 response incident manager.
If the number of Covid-19 cases starts to rise dramatically as states reopen, “more extensive mitigation efforts such as what were implemented back in March may be needed again,” a decision that would be made locally, he said.
CDC guidelines for employers whose workers are returning include requiring masks, limiting use of public transit and elevators to reduce exposure, and prohibiting hugs, handshakes and fist-bumps. The agency also suggested replacing communal snacks, water coolers and coffee pots with prepacked, single-serve items, and erecting plastic partitions between desks closer than 6 feet apart.
Current CDC workplace guidelines don’t talk about distribution of aerosols, or small particles, in a room, said Lisa Brosseau, a respiratory-protection consultant for the University of Minnesota’s Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy.
“Aerosol transmission is a scary thing,” she said. “That’s an exposure that’s hard to manage and it’s invisible.” Ensuring infected individuals stay home is important, she said, but that can be difficult due to testing constraints. So additional protocols to interrupt spread, like social distancing in workspaces and providing N95 respirators or other personal protective equipment, might be necessary as well, she said.
Some scientists say while aerosol transmission does occur, it doesn’t explain most infections. In addition, the virus doesn’t appear to spread widely through the air.
“If this were transmitted mainly like measles or tuberculosis, where infectious virus lingered in the airspace for a long time, or spread across large airspaces or through air-handling systems, I think you would be seeing a lot more people infected,” said the CDC’s Dr. Brooks.
What public-health measures do you think are called for? Join the conversation below.
Sampling the air in high-traffic areas regularly could help employers figure out who needs to get tested, said Donald Milton, professor of environmental and occupational health at the University of Maryland School of Public Health.
“Let’s say you detect the virus during lunchtime on Monday in a dining hall,” he said. “You could then reach out to people who were there during that time telling them that they need to get tested.”
Erin Bromage, a University of Massachusetts Dartmouth associate professor of biology, has been fielding questions from businesses, court systems and even therapists after a blog post he wrote titled “The Risks—Know Them—Avoid Them” went viral.
Courts are trying to figure out how to reconvene safely given that juries normally sit close together, with attorneys speaking to them up close, Dr. Bromage said. Therapists want to be able to hold in-person counseling sessions again. And businesses are trying to figure out what types of cleaning and disease-prevention methods in which to invest most heavily.
He advises that while wiping down surfaces and putting in hand-sanitizer stations in workplaces is good, the bigger risks are close-range face-to-face interactions, and having lots of people in an enclosed space for long periods. High-touch surfaces like doorknobs are a risk, but the virus degrades quickly so other surfaces like cardboard boxes are less worrisome, he said. “Surfaces and cleaning are important, but we shouldn’t be spending half of our budget on it when they may be having only a smaller effect,” he said.
Drugmaker Eli Lilly & Co. has a medical advisory panel that’s reading the latest literature on viral transmission, which it is using to develop recommendations for bringing back the company’s own workers safely.
To go into production facilities, some of which are in operation now, scientists must don multiple layers of personal protective equipment, including gloves, masks, goggles and coveralls. That’s not abnormal for drug-development settings, said Lilly Chief Scientific Officer Daniel Skovronsky. “The air is extensively filtered. There’s lots of protection,” he said.
The places he worries about are the break rooms, locker rooms and security checkpoints, where people interact. Those are spaces where the company has instituted social-distancing measures by staggering the times they are open and how many people can be there at once. Only a few cafeterias are open, and those that are have socially distanced seating. In bathrooms, only half the stalls are available to cut down on the number of people.
“We’ll never be more open than state guidelines,” Dr. Skovronsky said, but “we’re often finding ourselves being more restrictive because we’re following the numbers.”
And so, yeah, if something’s not working, it’s time to not hold people back. – Ginnifer Goodwin • In its purest form, dating is auditioning for mating (and auditioning means we may or may not get the part). – Joy Browne • Is it a bad sign when someone asks you about the person your dating and a tear falls from your eye as you leap into oncoming traffic? – Dov Davidoff • Is it a bad sign when you see the person you’re dating and get the same feeling as if you just saw police lights in you’re rear view mirror? – Dov Davidoff • It was funny actually because that was still during the time we were dating. He would get all these calls because supposedly before we broke up, we had already broken up in the trades, in the rags or whatever. – Rosario Dawson • It was really shocking to me that when I was dating a dude I could get married and my taxes were 8 grand less, blah blah blah. – Sia Furler • It was V-day and I was stuck at home while the guy I was dating was at an Anti-Valentine’s Day party. How wrong was that? It was one thing to be totally alone on V-day, but another to want to be with someone who would rather spend the evening protesting love instead of making it. – Kate Madison • It’s always been my personal feeling that unless you are married, there is something that is not very dignified about talking about who you are dating. – Luke Wilson • It’s amazing how much time and money can be saved in the world of dating by close attention to detail. A white sock here, a pair of red braces there, a gray slip-on shoe, a swastika, are as often as not all one needs to tell you there’s no point in writing down phone numbers and forking out for expensive lunches because it’s never going to be a runner. – Helen Fielding • It’s so easy to misuse social media as a dating tool. I think it can be useful but it’s scary when you think about who can access this information and what they’re doing with it. – Justin Long • I’ve been dating since I was fifteen. I’m exhausted. Where is he? – Kristin Davis • I’ve been dating younger men since my 20s, When I was 29, I dated someone 21… younger men are just more fun. I like their energy. I’ve always been kind of young for my age. – Dana Delany • I’ve been in plenty of situations where someone I’m dating had more time for a console than me. – Josie Maran • I’ve done a number of studies with speed dating and Match.com and what’s interesting is that you know we still walk into a speed dating event, you know, thinking about what it is we’re looking for in a mate and so you ask people, like women will say “I’m looking for somebody who is really kind and sincere and smart and funny.” – Sheena Iyengar • I’ve had a little bad, bad media luck the new year. Well, apparently I’m dating Bill Clinton, which makes me nervous. I didn’t know, though. – Julie Bowen • I’ve learned that I don’t want to be as open or public about relationships anymore. In my first relationship, I thought I could hold on to the normalcy of just being like “Yeah, we’re dating,” just like if it were high school and I was telling my friends. But in high school, there aren’t articles written everywhere when you break up and you don’t have everyone in the school coming up to you and asking what happened or sharing their opinion with you. It didn’t feel like ours anymore, it felt like everybody else’s. – Camila Cabello • Just because times change and alot of people think that dating multiple people is the thing these days, it just isn’t a solid foundation at all in matters of the heart. I still believe in marriages that have a physically powerful foundation. – Angela Merkel • Like the guy I was dating. White, liberal, educated. I went to meet his family and I think that they probably didn’t know they had a problem with it until he walked in with me. And they definitely had issues. Mom had issues with it. Could not, didn’t want to see her son. And I don’t think she had anything against me. But it was about her son bringing me home. And I felt that for the first time. I was like, ‘Wow, that’s deep.’ It’s really simple: I don’t fit their picture. – Sanaa Lathan • My husband is the only guy I’ve ever dated where I’ve never been drunk around him. I couldn’t handle dating without drinking in the past. – Alison Rosen • My mom always complains about my lack of a boyfriend. Well, next time she asks, I’m going to tell her I’m dating two different guys-Mr Duracell and Mr Energizer. – Michelle Landry • My mom is going to kill me for talking about sleeping with people. But I don’t want to put myself in the position where I’m in a monogamous relationship right now. I’m not dating just one person. ‘Sex and the City’ changed everything for me because those girls would sleep with so many people. – Lindsay Lohan • My original inspiration was my mom: a few years after the death of my dad, she started dating one my teachers! – Meg Cabot • My philosophy of dating is to just fart right away. – Jenny McCarthy • My wife and I have been together since 1986. I graduated in ’86 and she graduated in ’88. We began dating when she was 17. Actually she turned 18 when we started kissing and stuff. – Cuba Gooding, Jr. • No one knew me until I met my wife Lulu. Lulu’s mother used to ask, Which one is Maurice? For six months she thought Lulu was dating Barry. – Maurice Gibb • Nothing defines humans better than their willingness to do irrational things in the pursuit of phenomenally unlikely payoffs. This is the principle behind lotteries, dating, and religion. – Scott Adams • Of course, a lot of courtship and dating is about sexual attraction. If you’re an attractive person, you have that sort of interest from people, whether you cater to it or not, but when you get older, that’s not really the leading thing anymore. – Patricia Arquette • Oh, my dating skills are the worst. No, I pick the wrong men; it’s amazing. I am awful, the worst dater. – Paget Brewster • On girls night in we talk about dating; the ups and downs of the previous week. Our collective laughter is uncontrollable and tearful, even the most disappointing dates become meritorious on girls night in. – Cilla Black • On the Hugh Grant romance rumours: We’re not dating and I’m not pregnant. We have not kissed or touched. We have not fought and broken up. – Sandra Bullock • One of my best friends is dating my other best friend, Lena! – Taylor Swift • Pamela Anderson Lee released a statement confirming that she has had her breast implants removed. Doctors say that Pamela is doing fine and that her old implants are now dating Charlie Sheen. – Conan O’Brien • Rumors about me? Calista Flockhart, Pam Anderson, and Matt Damon. That’s who I’m dating. – Ben Affleck • So if I was dating somebody now and the relationship didn’t work out, I’d take that as failing – Gavin DeGraw • Some burns,” Clary said. “Nothing that matters” “Everything that happens to you matters to me.” “Well that certainly explains why you haven’t called me back once. And the last time I saw you, you ran away without telling me why. It’s like dating a ghost.” Jace’s mouth quirked up slightly at the side. “Not exactly. Isabelle actually dated a ghost. She could tell you–” “No,” Clary said. “It was a metaphor. And you know exactly what I mean. – Cassandra Clare • Tess realized one of the great modern dating sadnesses: everyone is so used to the comforting glow of the computer screen that no one can go so far as to say “good morning” in public without being liquored up. – Amelia Gray • That’s the advice I would give to women: Don’t look at the bankbook or the title. Look at the heart. Look at the soul. Look at how the guy treats his mother and what he says about women. How he acts with children he doesn’t know. And, more important, how does he treat you? When you’re dating a man, you should always feel good. You should never feel less than. You should never doubt yourself. – Michelle Obama • The global economy is becoming a place where women are more successful than men, and these economic changes are starting to rapidly affect our culture – what our romantic comedies look like, what our marriages look like, what our dating lives look like, and our new set of superheroes. – Hanna Rosin • The Google algorithm was a significant development. I’ve had thank-you emails from people whose lives have been saved by information on a medical website or who have found the love of their life on a dating website. – Tim Berners-Lee • The inspiration for this movie [Something New] was this Newsweek article that came out a couple of years ago that talks about 42.4 percent of black women in America aren’t married. Black women are shooting up the corporate ladder way faster than our black male counterparts. And (black men) are either dating outside their race, in jail or dying. And so if you want to have a family, you want to be married, you have to look at other options. – Sanaa Lathan • The learned are not agreed as to the time when the Gospel of John was written; some dating it as early as the year 68, others as late as the year 98; but it is generally conceded to have been written after all the others. – Simon Greenleaf • The love is so powerful that both people have to surrender. I think that’s the funny thing about dating somebody for the first time, it’s kind of a question of who wears the pants, or who’s gonna text you first, how much am I supposed to put myself out there, and it makes you feel a little bit crazy. But at the end of the day, it’s not about that. And if it’s the right person you don’t have to worry about that. – Zella Day • The most difficult part of dating is the initial invitation. – Janell Carroll • The number of people who have either gotten married or had kids or started dating or just made great friends over Instagram is countless. I think we’re the only platform that continues to be successful in bringing people together in real life for these real relationships. – Kevin Systrom • The United States is now relearning an ancient lesson, dating back to the Roman Empire. Brutalizing an enemy only serves to brutalize the army ordered to do it. Torture corrodes the mind of the torturer. – James Risen • The whole dating ritual was different when I was a kid. Girls got pinned, not nailed. – Bill Maher • The woman I am currently crazy about was a vegetarian for a year until I started dating her. As is the case with most vegetarians, she had never eaten properly prepared meat, only commercially packaged or otherwise abused flesh. – Steve Albini • There are three possible parts to a date, of which at least two must be offered: entertainment, food, and affection. It is customary to begin a series of dates with a great deal of entertainment, a moderate amount of food, and the merest suggestion of affection. As the amount of affection increases, the entertainment can be reduced proportionately. When the affection IS the entertainment, we no longer call it dating. Under no circumstances can the food be omitted. – Judith Martin • There is no golden rule of dating, except to make sure that it engages both of you; too many people go to a cinema for a first date and of course don’t say a word, that’s a bad thing! – Steven Hill • There’s an interesting story around that [“Heaven Without a Gun”], because the girl I was dating at the time got into a bike accident and couldn’t make it into the studio, and the gentleman Dave Hamlin who worked on this record along with Ohad sort of took it, rearranged it. Dave went and sonically changed it and changed the keys so that Andy could sing it better. All these pieces came together that suddenly displayed that the song was meant for Andy [Kim] to sing. And he always said, “I’ll never understand it, but I’ll sing it with all my heart.” – Kevin Drew • There’s no way to get around it; online dating is work. And some people are more skilled at this kind of communication than others. – Rachel Martin • We had two rules growing up in my house: If you’re going to take a shower, do it with whomever you’re dating so you don’t waste water; and if you buy one for yourself, buy six, because everybody’s going to want one. – Moon Unit Zappa • Well, dating has become a sport and not about finding the person you love. – Rashida Jones • Whats nice about my dating life is that I dont have to leave my house. All I have to do is read the paper: Im marrying Richard Gere, dating Daniel Day-Lewis, parading around with John F. Kennedy, Jr., and even Robert De Niro was in there for a day. – Julia Roberts • When I had been dating my husband for a while, the president Obama said to me, “When is he going to put a ring on it?” And I was like, “Oh, come on. We are so busy. We don’t need to think about that.” He said, “He needs to put a ring on it because you’re worth it.” And the thing is, I’m not even kidding you, it was about a week or two later that we got engaged. – Alyssa Mastromonaco • When I met Nathan, I told my tour manager he was too good-looking for me. I don’t have a history of dating good-looking men. I’ve always complained that girls don’t get male groupies, and now I’ve married the first groupie I’ve ever had. – Nina Persson • When I saw music as a means to an end – more fame, more money, dating celebrities – that’s when things have gone terribly wrong. Now my life is focused on just trying to keep making music. Because when it’s really good, it’s just the most remarkable feeling on the planet. – Moby • When someone is good, but it doesn’t seem like their world will collapse if they don’t get the part, it’s more appealing. It’s like dating someone: You don’t want someone who’s too into you. – Steve Carell • While she could hardly fathom what had just happened to her that night, she reached some conclusions before she fell asleep, certain things now made perfect sense; Moon River didn’t sound so syrupy, mistletoe wasn’t such a bad idea, and perhaps dating was not such a frivolous waste of time after all. – E. A. Bucchianeri • With my husband it was never like “omg, should I text him?” or “he didn’t call me for two days.” So, I think I knew it was right because it just happened so naturally. That’s one piece of advice that I would give to women who are struggling in this crazy world of dating. – Lindsay Ellingson • Workshops and seminars are basically financial speed dating for clueless people. – Douglas Coupland • Would a dating service for people on the net be “frowned upon” by DCA? I hope not. But even if it is, don’t let that stop you from notifying me via net mail if you start one. – Richard Stallman • You know, I had my mother and my father convincing me that he would be going back to Hollywood and he’d be back with the actresses and dating them and that he wasn’t serious about me at all. So I had him saying one thing to me and my parents telling me something else. – Priscilla Presley • You shouldn’t be in a relationship with somebody who doesn’t make you completely happy and make you feel whole. And if you’re in that relationship and you’re dating, then my advice is, don’t get married. – Michelle Obama • You’re talking to someone who has been married to various people for the last 40 years of her life. Dating is not really something familiar. I’ve never really been a dater. – Stockard Channing
That’s just the way it is. – Henry Cloud • Dating is probably the most important aspect of a single person’s life. – Linda Sunshine • Dating is really all about sex. In the conventional context, this means that the man invites the woman to go through a social encounter, the ultimate purpose of which is sexual engagement. – Alexander McCall Smith • Dating now is a lot like going shopping when you don’t have any money. Even if you find the right thing, you can’t do anything about it. – Joshua Harris • Dating should be a part of your life, not your life a part of dating. So, I decided to meet some corporate guys and see how that worked. So, I went on Match, but I didn’t put a picture up, because I’m on television, and I didn’t want anybody contacting me for the wrong reasons. So, I had to do the hunting, as it were. I didn’t anticipate meeting my husband online, but there he was. But it’s definitely different when you’re dating. – Brooke Burns • I prefer ordinary girls – you know, college students, waitresses, that sort of thing. That’s when you know. – Rashida Jones • I’m much more interested in what an actor has to say about something substantial and important than who they’re dating or what clothes they’re wearing or some other asinine, insignificant aspect of their life. – Ben Affleck • I’m not cynical about marriage or romance. I enjoyed being married. And although being single was fun for a while, there was always the risk of dating someone who’d owned a lunch box with my picture on it. – Shaun Cassidy • I’m not great at dating, but I need to do it to relax. – Lena Dunham • I’m not interested in serial dating; I’d honestly rather be single. – Tamsin Egerton • I’m not very experienced with boys or the whole dating thingy. – Vanessa Hudgens • I’m not with anybody, I don’t have time for dating. Not to get too personal, but it’s weirdly harder to meet new people now. But for the first time in my life since I was a little kid, I’m not so concerned about it. – Justin Vernon • I’m of the belief that dating “potential” is almost always an exercise in frustration. – Mallory Ortberg • I’m so an all-or-nothing person in dating, always. I’m big on not wasting time. And so, yeah, if something’s not working, it’s time to not hold people back. – Ginnifer Goodwin • In its purest form, dating is auditioning for mating (and auditioning means we may or may not get the part). – Joy Browne • Is it a bad sign when someone asks you about the person your dating and a tear falls from your eye as you leap into oncoming traffic? – Dov Davidoff • Is it a bad sign when you see the person you’re dating and get the same feeling as if you just saw police lights in you’re rear view mirror? – Dov Davidoff • It was funny actually because that was still during the time we were dating. He would get all these calls because supposedly before we broke up, we had already broken up in the trades, in the rags or whatever. – Rosario Dawson • It was really shocking to me that when I was dating a dude I could get married and my taxes were 8 grand less, blah blah blah. – Sia Furler • It was V-day and I was stuck at home while the guy I was dating was at an Anti-Valentine’s Day party. How wrong was that? It was one thing to be totally alone on V-day, but another to want to be with someone who would rather spend the evening protesting love instead of making it. – Kate Madison • It’s always been my personal feeling that unless you are married, there is something that is not very dignified about talking about who you are dating. – Luke Wilson • It’s amazing how much time and money can be saved in the world of dating by close attention to detail. A white sock here, a pair of red braces there, a gray slip-on shoe, a swastika, are as often as not all one needs to tell you there’s no point in writing down phone numbers and forking out for expensive lunches because it’s never going to be a runner. – Helen Fielding • It’s so easy to misuse social media as a dating tool. I think it can be useful but it’s scary when you think about who can access this information and what they’re doing with it. – Justin Long • I’ve been dating since I was fifteen. I’m exhausted. Where is he? – Kristin Davis • I’ve been dating younger men since my 20s, When I was 29, I dated someone 21… younger men are just more fun. I like their energy. I’ve always been kind of young for my age. – Dana Delany • I’ve been in plenty of situations where someone I’m dating had more time for a console than me. – Josie Maran • I’ve done a number of studies with speed dating and Match.com and what’s interesting is that you know we still walk into a speed dating event, you know, thinking about what it is we’re looking for in a mate and so you ask people, like women will say “I’m looking for somebody who is really kind and sincere and smart and funny.” – Sheena Iyengar • I’ve had a little bad, bad media luck the new year. Well, apparently I’m dating Bill Clinton, which makes me nervous. I didn’t know, though. – Julie Bowen • I’ve learned that I don’t want to be as open or public about relationships anymore. In my first relationship, I thought I could hold on to the normalcy of just being like “Yeah, we’re dating,” just like if it were high school and I was telling my friends. But in high school, there aren’t articles written everywhere when you break up and you don’t have everyone in the school coming up to you and asking what happened or sharing their opinion with you. It didn’t feel like ours anymore, it felt like everybody else’s. – Camila Cabello • Just because times change and alot of people think that dating multiple people is the thing these days, it just isn’t a solid foundation at all in matters of the heart. I still believe in marriages that have a physically powerful foundation. – Angela Merkel • Like the guy I was dating. White, liberal, educated. I went to meet his family and I think that they probably didn’t know they had a problem with it until he walked in with me. And they definitely had issues. Mom had issues with it. Could not, didn’t want to see her son. And I don’t think she had anything against me. But it was about her son bringing me home. And I felt that for the first time. I was like, ‘Wow, that’s deep.’ It’s really simple: I don’t fit their picture. – Sanaa Lathan • My husband is the only guy I’ve ever dated where I’ve never been drunk around him. I couldn’t handle dating without drinking in the past. – Alison Rosen • My mom always complains about my lack of a boyfriend. Well, next time she asks, I’m going to tell her I’m dating two different guys-Mr Duracell and Mr Energizer. – Michelle Landry • My mom is going to kill me for talking about sleeping with people. But I don’t want to put myself in the position where I’m in a monogamous relationship right now. I’m not dating just one person. ‘Sex and the City’ changed everything for me because those girls would sleep with so many people. – Lindsay Lohan • My original inspiration was my mom: a few years after the death of my dad, she started dating one my teachers! – Meg Cabot • My philosophy of dating is to just fart right away. – Jenny McCarthy • My wife and I have been together since 1986. I graduated in ’86 and she graduated in ’88. We began dating when she was 17. Actually she turned 18 when we started kissing and stuff. – Cuba Gooding, Jr. • No one knew me until I met my wife Lulu. Lulu’s mother used to ask, Which one is Maurice? For six months she thought Lulu was dating Barry. – Maurice Gibb • Nothing defines humans better than their willingness to do irrational things in the pursuit of phenomenally unlikely payoffs. This is the principle behind lotteries, dating, and religion. – Scott Adams • Of course, a lot of courtship and dating is about sexual attraction. If you’re an attractive person, you have that sort of interest from people, whether you cater to it or not, but when you get older, that’s not really the leading thing anymore. – Patricia Arquette • Oh, my dating skills are the worst. No, I pick the wrong men; it’s amazing. I am awful, the worst dater. – Paget Brewster • On girls night in we talk about dating; the ups and downs of the previous week. Our collective laughter is uncontrollable and tearful, even the most disappointing dates become meritorious on girls night in. – Cilla Black • On the Hugh Grant romance rumours: We’re not dating and I’m not pregnant. We have not kissed or touched. We have not fought and broken up. – Sandra Bullock • One of my best friends is dating my other best friend, Lena! – Taylor Swift • Pamela Anderson Lee released a statement confirming that she has had her breast implants removed. Doctors say that Pamela is doing fine and that her old implants are now dating Charlie Sheen. – Conan O’Brien • Rumors about me? Calista Flockhart, Pam Anderson, and Matt Damon. That’s who I’m dating. – Ben Affleck • So if I was dating somebody now and the relationship didn’t work out, I’d take that as failing – Gavin DeGraw • Some burns,” Clary said. “Nothing that matters” “Everything that happens to you matters to me.” “Well that certainly explains why you haven’t called me back once. And the last time I saw you, you ran away without telling me why. It’s like dating a ghost.” Jace’s mouth quirked up slightly at the side. “Not exactly. Isabelle actually dated a ghost. She could tell you–” “No,” Clary said. “It was a metaphor. And you know exactly what I mean. – Cassandra Clare • Tess realized one of the great modern dating sadnesses: everyone is so used to the comforting glow of the computer screen that no one can go so far as to say “good morning” in public without being liquored up. – Amelia Gray • That’s the advice I would give to women: Don’t look at the bankbook or the title. Look at the heart. Look at the soul. Look at how the guy treats his mother and what he says about women. How he acts with children he doesn’t know. And, more important, how does he treat you? When you’re dating a man, you should always feel good. You should never feel less than. You should never doubt yourself. – Michelle Obama • The global economy is becoming a place where women are more successful than men, and these economic changes are starting to rapidly affect our culture – what our romantic comedies look like, what our marriages look like, what our dating lives look like, and our new set of superheroes. – Hanna Rosin • The Google algorithm was a significant development. I’ve had thank-you emails from people whose lives have been saved by information on a medical website or who have found the love of their life on a dating website. – Tim Berners-Lee • The inspiration for this movie [Something New] was this Newsweek article that came out a couple of years ago that talks about 42.4 percent of black women in America aren’t married. Black women are shooting up the corporate ladder way faster than our black male counterparts. And (black men) are either dating outside their race, in jail or dying. And so if you want to have a family, you want to be married, you have to look at other options. – Sanaa Lathan • The learned are not agreed as to the time when the Gospel of John was written; some dating it as early as the year 68, others as late as the year 98; but it is generally conceded to have been written after all the others. – Simon Greenleaf • The love is so powerful that both people have to surrender. I think that’s the funny thing about dating somebody for the first time, it’s kind of a question of who wears the pants, or who’s gonna text you first, how much am I supposed to put myself out there, and it makes you feel a little bit crazy. But at the end of the day, it’s not about that. And if it’s the right person you don’t have to worry about that. – Zella Day • The most difficult part of dating is the initial invitation. – Janell Carroll • The number of people who have either gotten married or had kids or started dating or just made great friends over Instagram is countless. I think we’re the only platform that continues to be successful in bringing people together in real life for these real relationships. – Kevin Systrom • The United States is now relearning an ancient lesson, dating back to the Roman Empire. Brutalizing an enemy only serves to brutalize the army ordered to do it. Torture corrodes the mind of the torturer. – James Risen • The whole dating ritual was different when I was a kid. Girls got pinned, not nailed. – Bill Maher • The woman I am currently crazy about was a vegetarian for a year until I started dating her. As is the case with most vegetarians, she had never eaten properly prepared meat, only commercially packaged or otherwise abused flesh. – Steve Albini • There are three possible parts to a date, of which at least two must be offered: entertainment, food, and affection. It is customary to begin a series of dates with a great deal of entertainment, a moderate amount of food, and the merest suggestion of affection. As the amount of affection increases, the entertainment can be reduced proportionately. When the affection IS the entertainment, we no longer call it dating. Under no circumstances can the food be omitted. – Judith Martin • There is no golden rule of dating, except to make sure that it engages both of you; too many people go to a cinema for a first date and of course don’t say a word, that’s a bad thing! – Steven Hill • There’s an interesting story around that [“Heaven Without a Gun”], because the girl I was dating at the time got into a bike accident and couldn’t make it into the studio, and the gentleman Dave Hamlin who worked on this record along with Ohad sort of took it, rearranged it. Dave went and sonically changed it and changed the keys so that Andy could sing it better. All these pieces came together that suddenly displayed that the song was meant for Andy [Kim] to sing. And he always said, “I’ll never understand it, but I’ll sing it with all my heart.” – Kevin Drew • There’s no way to get around it; online dating is work. And some people are more skilled at this kind of communication than others. – Rachel Martin • We had two rules growing up in my house: If you’re going to take a shower, do it with whomever you’re dating so you don’t waste water; and if you buy one for yourself, buy six, because everybody’s going to want one. – Moon Unit Zappa • Well, dating has become a sport and not about finding the person you love. – Rashida Jones • Whats nice about my dating life is that I dont have to leave my house. All I have to do is read the paper: Im marrying Richard Gere, dating Daniel Day-Lewis, parading around with John F. Kennedy, Jr., and even Robert De Niro was in there for a day. – Julia Roberts • When I had been dating my husband for a while, the president Obama said to me, “When is he going to put a ring on it?” And I was like, “Oh, come on. We are so busy. We don’t need to think about that.” He said, “He needs to put a ring on it because you’re worth it.” And the thing is, I’m not even kidding you, it was about a week or two later that we got engaged. – Alyssa Mastromonaco • When I met Nathan, I told my tour manager he was too good-looking for me. I don’t have a history of dating good-looking men. I’ve always complained that girls don’t get male groupies, and now I’ve married the first groupie I’ve ever had. – Nina Persson • When I saw music as a means to an end – more fame, more money, dating celebrities – that’s when things have gone terribly wrong. Now my life is focused on just trying to keep making music. Because when it’s really good, it’s just the most remarkable feeling on the planet. – Moby • When someone is good, but it doesn’t seem like their world will collapse if they don’t get the part, it’s more appealing. It’s like dating someone: You don’t want someone who’s too into you. – Steve Carell • While she could hardly fathom what had just happened to her that night, she reached some conclusions before she fell asleep, certain things now made perfect sense; Moon River didn’t sound so syrupy, mistletoe wasn’t such a bad idea, and perhaps dating was not such a frivolous waste of time after all. – E. A. Bucchianeri • With my husband it was never like “omg, should I text him?” or “he didn’t call me for two days.” So, I think I knew it was right because it just happened so naturally. That’s one piece of advice that I would give to women who are struggling in this crazy world of dating. – Lindsay Ellingson • Workshops and seminars are basically financial speed dating for clueless people. – Douglas Coupland • Would a dating service for people on the net be “frowned upon” by DCA? I hope not. But even if it is, don’t let that stop you from notifying me via net mail if you start one. – Richard Stallman • You know, I had my mother and my father convincing me that he would be going back to Hollywood and he’d be back with the actresses and dating them and that he wasn’t serious about me at all. So I had him saying one thing to me and my parents telling me something else. – Priscilla Presley • You shouldn’t be in a relationship with somebody who doesn’t make you completely happy and make you feel whole. And if you’re in that relationship and you’re dating, then my advice is, don’t get married. – Michelle Obama • You’re talking to someone who has been married to various people for the last 40 years of her life. Dating is not really something familiar. I’ve never really been a dater. – Stockard Channing
The rain outside had come down a bit more but it still was soothing for the most part. However, it seems two people were too busy to notice it. The sounds of light squeaks and whines were heard in the room.
"Mffmm..mmmm.....nugghh nngggg....." Melinda was laying against Jaron's chest since he was resting against the bedboard. He had his one hand in between her legs with the other holding her close. Her face was flushed pink but he couldn't see since she was leaning against him to reach and cover her mouth to try stopping the noises from slipping past her lips.
"Melinda, you have to relax...." She heard his voice against her ear, knowing he didn't then pushes the fingers in deeper to feel her tense up and gasp. She had her head up while panting hotly in the room. A thin trail of drool shows from her chin shaking in his arms.
"Ahhhh J..Jaron..n..nugghh..J..jaron, nuggnn..." she was leaning her head a bit forward now while whimpering and moaning softly. Jaron was behind her having one hand holding her wrist down and the other in between her legs slowly rubbing and fingering her or at least being gentle.
He can hear the wet slick noises from each push of his fingers to pulling out of her. He was kissing her neck even to latch onto it gently that she gasped out to grit her teeth trembling again in pleasure. She tries to speak again but squeaks when he bit against her neck gently, making her turn her head away from him.
She couldn't stop moaning in such a embarrassing tone but at least Jaron was gentle with her. He always was no matter what. Even in something like this. As he keeps moving his fingers, he sits up a little while watching her reactions still moving his fingers in deeper.
"Are you still alright? Does it hurt?" he asked still moving his fingers but Melinda was having her eyes closed while he keeps kissing against her neck and shoulder.
"N..No, it doesn't h..h..hurt...just f..feels we..weird. being t..touched d..d..down ahh! t..there!!" she whimpers that changed into a purr again when he was rubbing outside and on then nub he felt since she still was having her lay back against him. He didn't remove the pants yet but he just wanted to help her relax.
"Alright, if it hurts tell me and I'll stop. I don't want to hurt you.." he said but she only felt more heated to whine again.
"I..I'll b..b..be okay...I j..just need to get used t..to it. I..It just feels...mmmm!!" she twitched to close or trap his wrist in between her legs feeling herself get wetter now. She turns her head to the side panting harder but she slowly open her silver eyes to see his hand in between her legs. He was seriously having fingers doing this to her but she was whimpering to cover her upper area of her face still purring softly.
"Mmmmm~...m...mmmm........"
"There you go..just relax your doing good, Melinda.....it should feel better when I find something...so just bear with me.." He said but Melinda keeps her head to the side wondering what he means.
"Ahh.....ahhhh h..how? What a....ahhh....nugghh mmm-AHH!?" She just did as he asked, trying to relax even if his fingers kept moving in deeper and deeper that she was shaking again. As she tries to speak, he rubs down on something causing Melinda to arch her back crying out with eyes wide before closing half way. Her lips were parted while shaking against him.
Was that the spot? Being curious, Jaron focused on rubbing there on the bundle of nerves as she was gasping out squirming in his arms.
"Haaaa ahhhh w..wait, J..Jaron d..don't r..rub there..n..not there!! It f..feels really hhaaa we.....nugghhhhh!!!!" she begs but it sent a strong sensation through her as she was grinding against his fingers, feeling him rub down harder on that spot. He didn't stop but only goes deeper to see her gasping and drooling. Whatever he was touching, it left her body burning up so quickly.
"Ahhhhh ahhhhhhh t..there i..it's..mmmmmm..s....strange..it feels s..so weird.." she moans shaking but Jaron was quickening his fingers still trying to help her.
"just bare with it a little longer Melinda.....it's alright." He said but she covers her face flustered to still moan out even louder.
'Ahhhh..hhaaaa....hhhaaa...i..it f..feels we..weird b..but..g..good...w..why does it fe..feel s..so g..good?' she thought but tenses to feel something stronger to tighten around his fingers.
'My body is burning..it's aching from his f..fingers...' she moans in her thoughts feeling Jaron kissing her shoulder.
"J..Jaron..Jaron, s...ssssss......s..something is h..happening t..to me..hhaa...what i..is this? W..why do I..f..feel weird? I f..feel h..hot..it's t..too hot......" she moans out with her tongue being out just slightly. She felt so weird but her body was starting to beg for it while she was leaning forward still seeing his hand quickening the fingers.
"That's normal, just let go Melinda..your almost close..." She was so wet down here but he only focused on helping her while she lets out more and more cries of pleasure. Even if she grits her teeth, she couldn't control her voice feeling the fingers going faster and harder.
"Ahhhh!!! Ahhhhhh ahhhhhhh aaahhhh hhhaaaa.......oohhh.....mmmm!!"
He lowers her to the bed on her back still moving his fingers as she was squirming under his hold, trying to make her body listen but she couldn't. His fingers were attacking that one spot inside. He was watching her still thrusting his fingers in as she was crying out drooling.
'I can't st..stop my body..something i..is coming..something is cumming..' she moans in her mind slowly arching her back off the bed while moaning out.
"Ahhhh J...Jaron....hhaaaa o..oh g....god....n..no m..more..p..please..Hhaaa..haaaa.." she was begging him to spare her but he didn't still kissing her neck before latching on to bite at her skin. She whines feeling the heavy sucking but knew he would leave a mark or in his way, a hickey.
"I..I can't a..anymore..g....gonna c.c..cum..s....something is cumming..cumming..c..c..cumming!!!" she screams out before she threw her head back screaming out as she came violently gripping the pillow above her head.
Her eyes were covered by her black hair as she was cumming still trapping Jaron's wrist in between her legs as she came. She couldn't stop the feeling as Jaron sees her cumming from his fingers. Though, he felt her twitching in pleasure before slowly falling back on the bed catching her breath.
"Haaa....hhaaa.....hhhaaaa.....nuggghhh.." It left her dazed but Jaron slowly lowers down near her to kiss her lips slowly as she whimpers.
"Mmmmmmm~" a weak heated deeper purr slips past her lips but she feels him gently slip something past her lips while he was sharking this heated moment with her. Melinda could only return the kiss back as he held her down on the bed.
His hand still remains on her wrists but they shared a heated soft yet gentle hot kiss together before he breaks it slowly seeing her shaking from the new sensation through her body.
"J..Jaron..."
"Melinda.."
The two looks at one another before he kisses her again while keeping her down while she was savoring the kiss. He was always gentle with her but she was deeply whimpering mixed with a purred moan. She feels him lower his hand down to in between her legs again but she still felt wet after cumming.
However, he moves his hand up to start pulling her pants down as she keeps her eyes closed feeling shy. He did make sure that she would be alright due to her back but she only whimpers kissing him more that he keeps holding her down. Their fingers intertwined with one another as she was feeling her body starting to ache for something else, feeling him kissing down to her chest where the other scar was. She shook from the heated touches as he keeps leaving more kisses.
As he was about to speak, Melinda grips the pillow still trying to catch her breath.
"You okay? Was it too much?" He asked.
"..I..It felt hot b..but I'm o..okay....it's just.." she started to say but he looks to her.
"Yes?"
"Y..You been pleasuring m..me all this time. W..what about you? It's n..not fair if it's just m..me." she blushed that he blushes, looking to the side. Honestly, he didn't mind it. He was more focused on making her feel good than himself. Even if he was excited from what he saw and heard.
"..It's alright Melinda, besides, I rather see you relaxed and happy.." He said gently easing up on her wrists but she looks to him. "Besides, your really adorable when you were lost like that." He mutters but she only flushed red to feel excited again.
".....I..It's not f..fair t..though.." she whispered that he heard.
"Huh? But it's fine. I'm not-Mffm!?" before he finishes speaking she gently shoves him down on his back being on top but she was kissing him. His eyes were wide from the kiss but she gently breaks it to feel nervous. "W..what's wrong?"
"..I..I appreciate you were that kind t..to help m..me b..but..I w..wanna at least return the f..favor...b..besides....I w..wanna b..be able to help J..Jaron f..feel good too." she looks at him but her hair was over her back and face. However, he saw her silver eyes looking back at him.
"M..Melinda, really. It's fine, you don't have to-" Before he tries to speak, he tenses up feeling her slip a hand in his own pants to tense up holding her wrist but she kissed him again while she moves to now kiss his neck.
"Haaa w..wait a m...moment, Melinda. That's not-"
"I..It's fine.....I w..want to at least h..help..p..please..." she whispered now moving her hand to hold him to feel something hot down there. He twitched but only looks to the side to let her. Seems she was serious to help him feel good too.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The rain was coming down a bit more but Jaron was panting not focused on the rain. He was gripping the sheets with one hand but had his head turned to the side feeling Melinda kissing his own neck but gently biting him there. She was able to get his own clothes off but she was pleasuring him to her best ability. Even for a first time, she was nervous but she could feel he was excited just as her.
"Haaaa...hhhaaaaaaa..."
'H..He looks so l..lost when I do this. Does this mean he feels g...good too? He's so hard down h..here..it's pulsing in my h..hand...' she thought hearing a groan from him as she was still leaving love bites to his neck then heard a hiss from the jackal.
"A..Are you o..okay?" she asked softly against his neck but he looks to leaning his head back twitching as she was moving her hand up and down.
"I..I'm good..I'm alright j..just..Nugh!" she was moving her hand again but she was flushed hearing these noises from him. They were pretty cute too. "Y..Your hand f..feels re..really soft..and warm t..too. It feels really good.." He mutters softly.
"I..I'm glad....Jaron s..sounds really cute e..even if your h..hot down here and h..hard...." she mutters that he blushes worse to look at her.
"That fits you b..better n..not m..me..." He said but hisses feeling her moving her hand faster now wanting to hear more that he was letting out.
"W..wait, don't go s..so fa-Nuggh!! ahhhhh hhaaaaaa....." Melinda sees him grip the sheets but he almost bucked up in her hand while showing the tip slick now. He had his eyes half way open drooling from the sudden pleasure and yet, he was panting.
She was blushed worse looking shy at her hand moving up and down but it felt slick enough that she was blushing even worse growing excited. She wonders if.......she was looking to only slow her hand a little that Jaron noticed.
"W..what's wrong? You okay?" he asked panting but she only moves to look at him.
"I..I'm okay..b..but.." she was squirming where she was feeling worse that her own slickness was running down her legs as she shook. "I..It burns even m..more now..s..something is making it tingle again...." she was looking at him dazed that he was blushing even more to see her so close their lips almost touched.
"I d..don't know how much m..more I can hold b..back from this....s..so please..please.." she only felt shy again that she was about to kiss him till Jaron figures she wanted to move on to something. In a moment, he sits up but looks to her while touching her cheek seeing her even nuzzle into it and kisses the palm of his hand. Jeez, she is just adorable isn't she? Trying not become flushed, he gently looks to her.
"Alright..I can give you something that can make you feel even better...but it might sting at first..." he warns but she slowly nods understanding. In a few minutes, Jaron had her facing away from him resting her hands on the bed and her being on her knees. He was hugging her from behind while she was shaking looking down to feeling the same hot feeling against her folds.
"Okay, I'm going to start pushing in. If it's too much tell me and I'll stop." He said but Melinda was shaking to look at him.
"I..I will.....s..so go a..ahead, Jaron..." she said giving him the go. Giving a gentle kiss to her cheek, he adjusted himself while holding her but being careful, he slowly rubs the tip against her folds before slowly pushing into her. Right away, she grips the sheets from the sudden feeling but he knew she was slick enough after he helped her relax. Slowly, he moves her hips back as he moves forward pushing into her as she threw her head back in between his shoulder whimpering.
Her body was trying to relax but she keeps her eyes tightly shut before Jaron pulls her hips back to have her fully filled up. She lets out a gasp to almost cum but she suddenly became really tight around him as he tenses to bite down on her shoulder. She was shaking while feeling him inside but Melinda was panting feeling her lips parted, her eyes covered and him holding her so tight.
"H..Hot...i..it feels s...so hot......" she whimpers but Jaron panted to rest his forehead on her shoulder. She was really tight, hot, and wet it was wrapping around him with ease. Melinda was panting but he only lowers his hands to rest on her thighs to keep her still.
"You...o..okay?" he panted against her neck but his face was covered by her black hair as she whines to purr softly.
"I..I'm f..fine..I'm o..okay...j..just m...move..o..oh god p..please m..move..." she begs him but Jaron only gives a kiss to her upper back to do that. He slowly thrusts his hips forward to be sure he wouldn't hurt her. Getting soft squeaks and gasps from her tells him she was alright so far.
"Ahh...hha...nuggh...nnrrrnnnmmm....mmmmm...mmmm..." she feels the slow thrusts that each one made her moan, hands twitching on the bed as he was moving. It did sting just a bit but not too badly thanks to him preparing her earlier. He didn't let her go but he was panting trying to keep himself from hurting her.
Though, the sounds she made tells him he was doing alright. It must have felt good because she was moving her hips back while he was moving. He keeps pressed up against her back as she was moaning for him to hear. His hands moving down her arms to rest them on her hands. After a bit, the stinging feeling was gone and replaced with someone else, making her now start to purr and whine.
"Haaa....hhaaaa....J..Jaron....f....faster..." she purrs softly to him but he kisses in between her neck doing as she asked. She gasped to lean her head back again but shivers feeling one hand now moving up her stomach to her breast as he was squeezing or rubbing it. He felt the nipple hard but he knew she was already growing hot while thrusting a bit faster.
"Ahh~ Haaaa....I..It feels g..good..y..you f..feel good.." she hissed that he was pushing in deeply that the length was rubbing her insides deeply.
"Y..you f..feel good too. It's so tight and really wet...." he panted still moving his hips but he only sees her shaking. Her black hair was still covering her face that he sees him lean her head back as he was on his knees thrusting forward now. He could hear her moans getting a bit louder as she was taken.
His hips press against her own while holding her but that's when he started going a bit harder to make her yelp to moan out. The tip hits against her spot inside making her shake.
"W..wait..t...there again...you h..hit t..there again.." she moans that Jaron begins thrusting into that spot as she was crying out. Her lips were parted again with her tongue hanging out just a little bit. It felt so good. Even if he was just hitting or rubbing that one spot, it made her mind go blank. Even if she was moaning loudly now, he held her close still moving to have her rest on the pillow as she was crying out.
"Ahhhhh!!! Ahhhhhhh!! Haaaaaaaa..J..Jaron.....Jaron p..please..p..p..l.....ease..." she whines reaching up to the pillow but he only pulls her hips up still thrusting in even more. He panted heavily coated in some sweat like her but he only wanted to hear more. See more of her like this under him. Only he got to see Melinda like this and he wished for that.
Now..he wishes to see more. Suddenly he gently lowers her down to pull out but got her to lay on her back. She yelps to now look up but tenses to look at him. His eyes were glowing in the dim light in the room but he was able to see her.
Melinda lays there but her own silver eyes were glowing, her skin was flushed with a thin layer of sweat, breasts flat on her chest as she was shaking. She looked so cute like this, being coated in some marks of his own too. He carefully grabs her wrists but looks to her.
"W...what's wrong? W..why did you st..st...ahhhhh!!" right away, he thrusts in again. She threw her head back into the pillow as Jaron takes her again. He saw her moaning out his name, showing her weaker side that he was leaning over her while she was gasping, panting, moaning, and whimpering while drooling again.
"Ahhhhhhh ahhhhhhh!!!! s...so much!! I..It feels too good!" she panted out but her tears show a little while he was holding her hips to keep going. He could see her hidden face a bit but he only keeps going while she was twitching under him. "P..Pleas...e....please..eeeeeeahhhh!!!" she was shaking now but whines feeling him going stronger now.
"Mmmm Please what, Melinda?" he asked.
"I....I want more..Please..I..I need more..I want haaaa us to...." she tries to talk but he only goes more to stop her mid sentence. She quivers gasping out that he was holding her as she cries out almost clawing his arm gasping out to her forehead pressed against his shoulder.
"Your seriously cute, Melinda....with and without the scars....." he mutters in his thoughts while she was feeling the bed creaking now to press her chest up against his own with louder cries of pleasure. He kept hitting into her spot more and more, touching and teasing her body that she became more slick by the passing moments.
However, that's when she shook under him while he was still going feeling her tightening around him. Was she close? He looks to see her dazed out but she was quivering again. "J..Jaron s..something i..is....c..coming again..my body is....feeling weird a..again.." she whines but he keeps holding her down while moving.
"It's alright...your close..but I'm close too..it's alright..." he said still pounding away that she yelps to wrap her legs around him as he was kissing her neck. She screams out looking at the ceiling while drooling more.
"Ahhhh ahhhh.....it's g..getting worse, Jaron..I..I don't know how l..loohhhh g..god..mmm....long I c..can .nugghhaaahh!!" she wanted it. She needed something to fill her up that she quivers from the heated kisses from him. He grunts still thrusting deep to speak to her.
"I...I'm....getting close myself....Do you-" she only whines to kiss against his own neck.
"N..No, I..inside..I want it inside...please..I need to be filled up so please..i..inside..cum inside.." she begs that Jaron keeps going holding her as she screams drooling. It was closer now and stronger. Knowing both him and her were moaning and holding onto one another so tightly. She didn't let him go, wishing to feel him inside that Jaron was doing as she wanted.
"Ahhhh ahhhhh..I..It's throbbing inside o..of me...p..please re..release it a..all inside..I want i..it inside.." she begs that Jaron looks to her.
"Alright I'll...let it out inside..I can't hold it much more...I'm going gonna-"
"M..Me too. Please c..cum...I wanna cum...." she moans that she takes the thrusts hungry for him to fill her up. He quickens the movement, panting as she was gasping in a rapid pace. Both of them couldn't hold it for much longer.
"Jaron..Jaron..I..I can't!!" she cries out.
"M..Melinda...I.." he was twitching to hold her tight but stops his hips pushing in deep.
"C..cum!! Please cum-MMM!!" she moans keeping him there but he kisses her deeply.
'C..cumming..I..I'm cumming!!' Jaron and Melinda screams in their thoughts as he suddenly bursts inside of her. She screams out her orgasm while arching her back still moving her head into the pillow but Jaron growls feeling her tightening around him as he came inside. He grips the pillow above her head as she was taking in his load, gasping and twitching dazed. Some of it even spills out from around him to run down onto the sheets under her.
"I..It's h..hot..it feels really hot in..inside.." she whispered shaking in a shudder that Jaron panted not letting go but he feels her kissing and nip at his neck not wanting him to let go till he pets her head laying there to move back and kiss her lips deeply.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Later, Jaron was holding Melinda to him but she was flushed while being held in his arms after cleaning her up. He saw her only cuddle into his chest that he blushed to pet her but he was feeling her not let him go.
"You still are seriously cute.." Jaron mutters while she was looking down flushed again.
"Y..You said t..that...but th..thank you.." she said only for him to kiss her forehead again while she closed her eyes. They were now listening to the heavy rain outside this night but he was rubbing her back to make her shiver a little.
"Sorry about that.." he said but she only shook her head blushing.
"I..It don't hurt...my back is sensitive n..now....I like when you rub my b..back..." she mutters that he smiled to keep her close now rubbing her back. She quickly purrs softly to hide her face that he chuckled.
"Well, now do you believe me when I said I love you no matter what?" he asked and yet, she blushes more to slowly nod.
"I..I believe you.....but I'll love you even more..you accept me for me....and that tells me so much." she said that he held her while they were resting in bed together.
"Good to know...why don't we just relax for a while before getting some sleep okay?" he asked that she nods to look at the window again. The two were happy but warm in each others arms that later that evening, they were sleeping. Jaron was asleep but Melinda was breathing softly while being in his arms.
Seems the Jackal has kept his word and only won her heart all over again. And now, this only tells him they will share moments like this more in the later future.
If One Girl Can Change the World ...
If you’ve ever been a parent, uncle or aunt, you likely know that kids in their early teens often don’t have a grip on responsibilities or priorities. Not entirely dissimilar to toddlers in the “terrible twos and threes,” tweens and younger teens take sometimes awkward steps into the next stage of development. It’s okay if they’re occasional jerks; as an older and wiser friend once told me, “The good news is that you like them better when they’re older.”
That perspective makes the story of Malala Yousafzai’s younger years even more impressive than it already appears to be on paper.
Raised in Pakistan where the Taliban forbade girls from attending school; blogging advocacy for girls’ education through the BBC at age 11; supporting her father’s efforts to run a chain of schools, all the while becoming a prominent spokesperson for her cause. Then, after enduring many death threats, she became the victim of a murder attempt by a Taliban assassin at the age of 15.
All this at an age range when a kid’s biggest worries should be next week’s test, the latest insult from the mean girl down the road or the ongoing aggravation of having a younger brother.
I had already been moved, mortified, heartbroken and impressed by Malala’s story by the time she appeared on Jon Stewart’s The Daily Show in October 2013, but watching her share her perspective with more poise, grace and maturity than many of Daily Show’s adult-age guests display showed just what an inspirational person she is, an impression that only got stronger when I saw her make subsequent appearances on a variety of news and entertainment shows.
It came as no surprise that she was named co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014, making her the youngest winner ever of that honor, a distinction I imagine she’ll hold for as long as that award is bestowed.
Even with her own educational path well on its way—she’s been accepted by Lady Margaret Hall, one of the colleges of the University of Oxford—her commitment to girls’ education continues through The Malala Fund, which was launched in 2013. Its mission is simple, yet poignant: “Help every girl learn for 12 years and lead without fear.”
According to its website, “Malala Fund works in regions where the most girls miss out on secondary education. Our priority countries are Pakistan, Afghanistan, India, Nigeria and countries housing Syrian refugees (Lebanon and Jordan).” Girls in Iran, Yemen and Mexico have also benefited from the Fund.
As if the merits of its goal aren’t obvious enough, The Malala Fund strengthens its case with four talking points:
-- Girls’ education strengthens economies and creates jobs.
·-- Communities are more stable—and can recover faster after conflict—when girls are educated.
-- Educated girls are healthier citizens who raise healthier families.
-- Investing in girls’ education is good for our planet.
That last claim is justified in part by a finding of the Brookings Institute, which asserts secondary schooling for girls is the most cost-effective and best investment against climate change.
Considering the inspiration that Malala’s life represents, perhaps the best case to support this effort can be found in the question that serves as the fund’s slogan: “If one girl can change the world, what can 130 million girls do?”
Following the lead of supporters like 21st Century Fox, Creative Artists Agency, Google, the Katie McGrath & JJ Abrams Family Foundation, MasterCard, Microsoft, Nike and Participant Media, I proudly tap The Malala Fund as today’s Causes & Effect beneficiary. –Geoff Mayfield
Single Malt Murder: A Whisky Business Mystery
Ballantine Group; Alibi | On Sale: March 21st, 2017 | ISBN: 9780399179051| 300 Pages | Price: $4.99
When Abi inherits her uncle’s quaint and storied single malt distillery, she finds herself immersed in a competitive high-stakes business that elicits deep passions and prejudices. An award-winning photojournalist, Abi has no trouble capturing the perfect shot—but making the perfect shot is another matter. When she starts to receive disturbing, anonymous threats, it’s clear that someone wants her out of the picture. But Abi’s never been one to back down from a fight.
Arriving on the scene with her whisky-loving best friend, Patrick, and an oversized wheaten terrier named Liam, Abi seems to put everyone in the bucolic village on edge—especially her dour but disturbingly attractive head distiller. Acts of sabotage and increasingly personal threats against Abi make it clear that she is not welcome. When one of Abi’s new employees is found floating facedown in a vat of whisky, Abi is determined to use her skills as an investigative journalist to identify the cold-blooded killer and dispense a dram of justice before he strikes again. But distilling truth from lies is tricky, especially when everyone seems to have something to hide.
Interview with the Author
What initially got you interested in writing? I’ve always written, even as a child, but as I got older, I was forced to do a lot of very dry writing as a lawyer. Worse yet, since lawyers are notoriously bad writers and I was an English major, I got stuck editing everyone else’s work as well as my own. I burnt out on the writing process for a time, but then after I exited the profession I found my desire to write for pleasure coming back.
What genres do you write in? As far as fiction writing goes, I write mysteries. I’m especially partial to cozy mysteries, because I like the strong rapport you develop with the characters in the story. There’s a lovely feeling of coming home when you pick up the latest installment of a series you enjoy.
What drew you to writing these specific genres? Very simply, I write what I love to read. I’ve been a mystery fan since my first Nancy Drew and I never stopped. I read through all of the Agatha Christie, Margery Allingham and Dorothy Sayers by the time I came out of high school. Then I moved on to Elizabeth George, Colin Dexter, Sarah Caudwell, anything I could get my hands on. I love the fact that it isn’t a passive read. It’s relaxing, but it stimulates your brain at the same time.
How did you break into the field? Honestly, Single Malt Murder is my first novel. I wrote it and rewrote it a dozen times before sending it out to a variety of agents that dealt in cozy mysteries. I was unbelievably fortunate to find a phenomenal agent at The Lark Group who has shepherded me through this process with unending patience and good humor. It is so vital to find someone who believes in you and your project from the beginning.
What do you want readers to take away from reading your works? With the Whisky Business series I’d love for readers to come away with a desire to visit Scotland. It is a breathtakingly beautiful country and the people are just delightful. It is the perfect antidote to the stresses of our contemporary life. It’s also a country with a fascinating history of rebellions, bootlegging and smuggling. The historical aspect is in integral part of the second book in this series called Death Distilled. I’d also love it if more people, and especially women, would give single malt whiskies a try. Often people dismiss whisky as being too intense and too sharp, but there are many really lovely very smooth very mellow drams out there. Moreover, women are finally breaking into the distilling business and I think it is so important to support their efforts. I post information on cool whisky bars from all over and profiles of women who are breaking into the business on my Twitter and Facebook pages.
What do you find most rewarding about writing? It’s a creative outlet that I really enjoy. It also allows me to have fun crafting elaborate puzzles that involve human psychology and emotions.
What do you find most challenging about writing? Deadlines. When you’re on a deadline you have to write even when the words aren’t flowing. It’s frustrating, but it’s part of the discipline. It’s definitely more fun when you are in a good place and the prose is coming quickly and efficiently.
What advice would you give to people wanting to enter the field? Revise, revise, revise. It’s very important to be willing to take constructive criticism and look at your own work objectively. It can be very hard to remove a favorite character or scene, but if it’s slowing down the pace of the story it may have to go. As we all know pacing is everything in commercial fiction these days. If you want to sell you have to adapt. One of my tricks early on was to cut sections and keep them in a separate document. That way they’ve been transferred not killed. Somehow that hurts less and I often find homes for the passages left in limbo in later stories.
What type of books do you enjoy reading? Mysteries and biographies. I always have two or three bios on the go at any one time. Right now I’m reading Nick Mason (Pink Floyd), Misty Copeland and I’m re-reading Carrie Fisher’s Postcards from the Edge. With respect to mystery fiction I love Elizabeth George and Dorothy Sayers.
Is there anything else besides writing you think people would find interesting about you? I’m a con woman. Something I never knew existed until I had teenagers. Now I have a daughter who wants to make her living as a movie costumer and I join her and her sister at a variety of fan conventions up and down the Eastern seaboard. You meet fascinating people. It provides me with endless fodder for character sketches and it’s fun to step outside of yourself for a day or two. This past summer we dragged my husband along to Comic Con in San Diego. The mother ship of all Cons. I got to spend time with the artists who did the initial renderings for the Lord of the Rings movie and was in fan-girl heaven.
What are the best ways to connect with you, or find out more about your work?
||The scars of memory; the jackal's beloved treasure||
Hi dears, Peahen mom is back but it's time for another drabble. I know still writing more but at least I'm getting back into it. So I hope you like this one. Lets get right into it.
||Drabble Summary||
Jaron and Melinda have been together for a while now and both are happy. Even from the bad times that's happened among their fractions. He only wished to show that she was the only one he loved.
However, over time, they have been spending more time together resulting that the others tell them to just be together with no worries about anything. So, what would happen if Jaron was able to express that even if Melinda felt worried due to her scars and bad memories? How can will he prove it? If you wish to know, read to find out.
||Warning||
~Gentle moments will be seen in this drabble
~Scars are seen and known of in this drabble
~First time NSFW is present in this
~This is pretty long so just a heads up
||Guests in drabble||
Jaron Jackal and a few from the DBT mentioned in this drabble belongs to my friend @demon-blood-youths
Melinda brooks belong to me.
((Note: Their will be grammar mistakes and errors in this drabble as others have this warning. But like I state before, this is written for fun. So I hope you like it and my friend too. Enjoy))
A light rainstorm has rolled into the area of New York city while many were inside their homes watching the rain or just hanging out. Right now, DBT member Jaron Jackal was looking out from in a room as he was holding his girlfriend against him. Melinda brooks was from the cursed vixens fraction but the two of them were just hanging out together or to say having a short break from the recent events.
Ever since that happened, Jaron has been worried about her. Due to the events she was in. From the incidents that happened to her getting hurt. Thankfully, Ophelia was able to help her with the healing process even if she didn't bare much stitches she just only bare scars on her skin.
Melinda didn't mind it anymore but she only looks quiet while not liking how much she had to go through. From Megan, Sukuna, etc. It was like everything was against her. She shifts a bit that Jaron felt but keeps holding her while petting her head. However, he still had to be careful since she was still recovering.
So, seeing this, their fractions have given them both a order that they are to follow.
~~~~~~
"You want us to do what?" Jaron asked while holding a paper towel to look at Ink who was looking at him and speaking. The others in the DBT agreed with her.
"Yeah. I think you and Melinda deserve a break like everyone else. I know you been trying to keep up with watching her and helping her after that night. Though, maybe you need time away from all this...you know, like a small mini vacation. We had to put Rust in one and he's fine." she explains this to him but Jaron looks at the sink while he was just done washing up dishes.
"......Ink, I get what your saying but I-"
"Nope, that's an order Jaron. Besides, I already talked to Jinx about this and she wants Melinda to do the same. You and her been through enough and seen enough. We all can agree that you need to take time away from here for a while." she said with arms crossed but Jaron said nothing.
"Second, everyone else is doing the same thing. They are taking time off to do their own thing too. We were about to head out to do that. So, after your done, just go and be with Melinda. We will be fine for a while." Ink said. "Davion even offered to let you stay in one of his apartments together for a while till then. So please? At least take the offer and this break. We'll be fine! You don't have to come back until you both well rested." she smiled but Jaron looks to his team before he sighed.
"Alright alright, I'll take the offer. You guys didn't have to do this. I know everyone is taking the time to recover after what happened but still.."
"We will be alright, Jaron. Honest. Even our home chef deserves a well deserved break." Ophelia smiled to him but it seems they made their point.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So here he was on a small break with his girlfriend. They been here for a few days now and honestly, it was nice. Melinda was resting against him as they look out from the window but hearing the rain coming down was night. It was already the mid afternoon when the rain came but he looks down to her as she was looking at the rain still laying against him.
"...You still doing alright Melinda?" she heard his voice to blink, shifting a bit to give a light nod.
"I'm alright....I hope you don't mind me laying against you like this." she mutters but Jaron didn't mind it. He only held her closer that she was relaxing again.
"I don't mind. I'm just happy to know your alright....." he said seeing her lightly nod so the two went on watching the rain for a while longer. That did turn into a few moments before Melinda sits up but she looks to see the time. It was around 1:32pm in the afternoon. Jaron noticed then looks to her.
"..Is it time again?" he asked.
"....Yeah....you don't mind..d.do you?" she asked seeing him look silent but only shook his head.
"I don't mind. I rather help you out so it's fine. I'll get the cream for your back.." he said letting her go so she can get it. Melinda saw him leave before she sits up feeling her black hair cover her back. Due to the healing and the stitches being removed, she was able to wear a shirt to cover her back but she looks ahead while looking quiet. In a moment, Jaron came back with the jar and looks to her.
"I got it. Ready?" he asked seeing her nod but she turns to face away from him before he saw her carefully lifting up the back of her shirt to show her healing back. She did move her long black hair to the side for him. Like she stated, the stitches were gone but scars were present on her back. Seeing them made Jaron quiet but he didn't try to think too much of it. Remember what she went through that night and the old years before meeting her. She only looks ahead but she did cover her chest with the shirt. He opens the jar and went to work on carefully applying the cream ointment on her back.
She tenses with her biting her bottom lip due to the cold cream but it would help with the scaring. "Sorry sorry, I'll try to apply this as quick as possible.."
"N..No, no it's fine..just f..feels tingly is all. It don't hurt..just cold.." she sighed but Jaron keeps applying the ointment carefully but he didn't like seeing her so down because of it.
"Well, the good news is that your back is healing pretty well. Even though you still got some scaring and all Melinda." he said but she didn't mind it.
"....It's fine. Besides, the scaring tells me of what I been through...or at least reminds me that I can't always be nice to everyone because they might end up stabbing me in the back like she did." Jaron stops his fingers but heard what she said to look quiet.
"Melinda, you know what I told you right? Everyone has that chance to be helped. Megan ruined her chance and she ended up falling down to her own death."
"..I know but still..I felt so stupid...because I just wanted to help her. She didn't even listen to me when I told her she could walk away from what she went through..but she ignored that too." she mutters but her silver eyes were half way open while hearing the rain outside as Jaron looks to her worried.
"......."
"I thought I could help her, Jaron and yet she didn't listen to me. I only kept pushing myself trying to help her and yet, look where it got me. A scarred up back she inflicted on me to show that I'm a fool for even trying to help her. I should have listened to you and Rust when she-"
"Melinda, enough." he said but held the cream as the two remain silent but her upper part of her face was hidden while he sighed to lower the ointment.
"What did I tell you? That's in the past; just keep moving forward. Megan did this to herself even if you tried to help her. She put herself in that situation. I mean she even freaking tortured you to where she could have killed you. I know you wanted to try to help her but not everyone is like her. You can still help people with the gentle heart you have. Your always so kind and sweet. I know that myself because I've seen it plenty of times. I..." He looks to her back but he then looks to close the jar and set it aside.
"I should have done better myself. I knew you always want to help everyone out. Even me. You've done so much for everyone Melinda and yet, every day you live through your life with your team..and for others." He looks to gently rest his hand on her right hand that was resting on the bed they were sitting on in the room while she was using her left to hold the shirt to her chest.
"Besides, you already proven that. Your strong and sweet but even at times you have to understand their are some people that is like Megan. But not everyone." He said that Melinda looks quiet then looks at their hands.
"..Y...Yeah, I know. I still should have listened to you and Rust though. I'll just try to move on from it.." she mutters.
"Don't try; do just that. Move on and just be happy.." He said to look at her. "Be happy and just be yourself....." he said. "No matter what happens, nothing is going to change how I feel about you, Mel." he mutters that she looks ahead again as they were silent for a moment.
"..I..I know. Same for me too." she mutters as he looks to her and lifts her hand up to gently kiss the top of it then kisses her on the lips softly that made her blush. He hopes she knew that even if she was thinking. She feels him break the kiss then looks to him then away.
"Though....I know I look weird with the scars on me don't I? I feel like they are there to punish me in a way. Due to me being dumb.." she said but Jaron looks to her. "Or....I think so. My scars still show but that tells me or reminds me of my choices. Heh, I bet they are horrible looking aren't they?" she asked looking down.
"......Their not. They are healing Melinda which is good....most of them are not that bad." he said.
"You don't have to lie about it. They look weird..don't they?" she mutters.
"They don't....besides, no matter if you have scars or not, that won't stop me from loving you." he said but he rests a hand on her back as she tenses up feeling his touch.
"Besides, your scars show what you been through. The struggles you been through over time, Melinda. No matter what, I'll still love you with or without scars on you." he said but Melinda looks quiet to feel flushed a bit.
"I..I guess so but still....I feel like their.....weird." she mutters.
"Again, their scars but that won't change anything. Your still you Melinda." He said but she sighed to understand.
"O..Okay.." she mutters but as she was about to lower her shirt he stops her to make her blink. "???"
"Besides, I still love you. Or maybe I have to prove that." he said but she looked confused.
"I...you don't have to prove that. I believe you Jaron. I guess it's just me. Besides, how are you even going to prove...!?" as she was speaking, she felt something warm touch her back. She didn't move but felt warm kisses against the back of her neck.
"J..Jaron? W..what are you..d..doing?" she mutters but he didn't answer gently holding her but he didn't stop kissing her neck gently while holding her from behind.
"I told you before...your scars prove you got through the hard times when getting them. Your strong Melinda..I always know that. Even if your gentle and kind, your still strong to keep moving on...each one shows that." he said gently to her.
"B...but.."
"Besides, If I have to prove to you no matter what happens I'll always love you, I will. Even if you have these scars, your still loved. I love you with the scars or not." he said but she was flushed to look ahead.
"B..but you said that already and I believe you. I.." that's when she felt him kiss her neck again. She keeps her eyes closed as he was trying to be gentle. He didn't want to irritate her back when his hands slowly move down feeling the scars, this made her twitch a bit.
He felt the scars against his fingers but he was moving them as she bit her bottom lip shaking under his touch. It felt weird like some tingling sensation but she grips her shirt to look up feeling the kisses move down to her back while he held her.
She shook where she sits, trying to keep her body still but the kisses and his touches made her shake. Melinda tries to speak but she felt him kissing her back to arch her back away but he keeps her where she was.
"Haa...T...touching..t..touching f...feels mmm we..weird...your fingers a..are making my s..skin tingle...." she whispered to him but Jaron keeps leaving kisses to her back but only held her close.
"Just relax Melinda......" He keeps Melinda as close to him as possible before gently moving one hand up to touch her cheek.. He turns her head to face him before kissing her right on the lips.
She squeaks from the kiss but relaxed right away while they shared a gentle moment but she was shaking in his arms while whimpering. For a moment, he was touching her or moving his hand up from her stomach to her chest knowing another scar was over her heart as he breaks the kiss hearing her panting with soft moans mixed in.
"Haaa...hhaaa....." she closed her eyes while feeling him touch her but Melinda shook even more when he was kissing her neck again with more moans slipping past her lips. In a moment, she feels him move the other hand up to gently hold her hands that shake from their grip on her shirt. Jaron blushed himself but he carefully lowers her hands but her black hair was still covering the front of her chest.
She was trying to calm herself down, feeling her heart beating loudly in her chest to slowly feel him kiss her neck again. He gets a whimper like purr from her too. He tries to be gentle before moving from her neck to speak.
"Do you trust me, Melinda?"
She heard him ask but she looks down with her silver eyes half way open. "W..wha?" she hisses feeling him gently rubbing her sides but she grips the sheets only for him to look at her. It still felt so weird but her body was starting to burn.
"Do you trust me?"
"Haaa.....I..I do t..trust y..you.....I always trust you...b..but w..why a..ask m..me t..that?" she asked only to feel him hold her in his arms.
"Because I'm going to prove that your precious to me and someone I care for......so I hope to prove that to you." he said as she was shaking to slowly lean against him even if her eyes were dazed a bit.
"....T..then please.....please show me..." she whispered but he looks at her. "P..Please..." she was going to speak but he kisses her again while they remain on the bed together.
He'll prove it no matter what it takes.
Hey Melinda?
Here is a sinday question: Has Jaron even gone rough with you before when your both alone? I see he's always gentle with you which is cute but has he ever well been rough with you?
Melinda was alone but she was hugging a pillow trying to calm down before another anon sends a question. Her silver eyes widen hearing this one but she didn't respond to the question.
"I..I t..t...told you I don't wanna s..say anything about w..what we d..do..I.." though she re-reads the question to be silent.
"...........H..Has he been rough with me before?" she mutters but she hugs the pillow even more to think. "I....I don't know...I still won't say but h..he..." Trying to calm down she only squirms where she sits to slowly lower the pillow.
"I..It only happened a few times w..when he was b..but that's still private.." she whispered now flushed but she looks down feeling her face heat up. "I thought he was sick when he seemed under the w..weather one time after he with the others came back from Neo Gotham. I still saw he was alright but....he still worried me. B..but....even after I noticed he acted d..differently. He felt a lot more warming, he was always by my side and....well, you know.." she mutters still blushing. "But one time or that night h..he.....he was visiting m..me.....to hang out b..but then I...." she remembers to them being alone before she saw he was indeed under the weather that she offered some water to help him. She didn't expect herself to then be pinned to the wall flushed startled by him. He was strong due to having demon blood but it was a shock he was almost like he was heated.
She did try to ask him if he was alright but he didn't respond only to get deeply kissed till she blushed worse to hid her face.
"..I...I can't s..say it..t..too embarrassing.." she whispered.
Sooooo Melinda, have you and Jaron did any other naughty stuff before? :3 For sinday of course.
Melinda blinks but she felt her face heat up hearing the question. Even if this was a day late, she didn't look at the anon. "I...w....w..what makes you think we h..h..have?! S..stop being n..nosy anon!" she grumbled with her cheeks puffy but her silver eyes looks to the side.
"I told you anons b..before, didn't I? W..whatever I do with Jaron i...is private when it comes t..to that.." she said and yet, she did know one time he and her tried something new.
~~~~~~~~
"You know t..this was a nice hang out. It really was f..fun.." she smiled looking at her lap while feeling happy. However, Jaron agreed to smile.
"True. Though, I'm glad you had fun. Maybe we can go out again." he sees her blink but Melinda smiled to agree with that. He saw her happy and yet, she already was excited about the next time they would hang out.
"I c..can't wait till we do. I really had fun today." she smiled softly and yet, this made her be cuter that Jaron blushed to laughed rubbing the back of his head. She seriously was cute.
"I'm glad even so. Though, You really seem more open now thanks to it." he even sees her blushing a little to tilt her head.
"Well, it's because of you, Jaron. You make me happy and I'm always happy to spend time with you." she smiled even kissing his cheek seeing him blush a little to her doing that. "Besides, you told me before you always were happy with me....and that's how I feel about you too." she said.
"...I see.." He said but he looks to her as Melinda was happily looking to the side as she felt happier now. Even being here with him was nice and she didn't mind that.
"But I always am..you are something else." he smiled but Melinda smiled to look at him.
"Thank you.." she said that Jaron even finds it more cuter that he even kissed her cheek back seeing her squeak to him smiling finding it adorable. Though, seeing her this cute and shy only had him look at her but one hand reaches to touch her cheek but she blinks to look at him.
"What's up? D..did you wanna say something to-Mfm?!" Her eyes were wide to feel him kiss her on the lips while she shuts her eyes blushing worse as he kissed her. He held her gently in his arms to kiss her but he even breaks the kiss hearing her panting softly shaking.
"W..why d...did you give me a sudden k..kiss?" she asked shy that he looks to her.
"Lets just say I wanted to thank you another way so you are alright with that?" he asked but she blinks to look at him wondering what he means.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I..I mean, Jaron and I always spend time together but again when it comes to that, it's private." she said even if her face was still flushed from blushing. Melinda looks quiet that the anon noticed her getting flustered.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
She wasn't expecting this to happen again and yet, Melinda didn't mind it. Even when she's sitting back against some pillows and blankets. Melinda was shaking from the slow heated kisses given to her by Jaron but he was holding her cheek while kissing her neck. She whimpers from each kiss but he only moves down to start leaving kisses against her chest while she keeps still.
"Haaaaa....w...wait d..don't kiss t..t...there..." she begs but he already held her still while kissing more leaving a trail on her skin. He was careful only to lower now kissing in between her breasts to hearing a gasp from her.
"Mmmm...m...mmmmmm......." He keeps kissing her skin more and more but he even held one of her hands with the other gripping the sheets while she was turning her head to the side trying not to give into the heated kisses he gave.
She whimpers but feels his hands against her back still keeping her close that he moves down lower leaving kisses to her stomach. "Ah...haaa...J..Jaron.....w...wait..pl...please..." she begs softly flushed but he looks to stop but sits up to look at her then goes to kiss her deeply on the lips while she reaches to hold him close. Their kiss grew hotter and hotter that he presses up against her while she was moaning in the kiss.
In a bit, he breaks the kiss hearing her weak heated panting that he looks to her with glowing golden eyes. "You serious..haa are too cute..." he said gently but he saw her shaking to his touch.
"I..I'm not hhaaa c..cute..I'm not cute.." she said but he only looks to keep her still. He already even slips his fingers down in her pants making her gasp leaning her head back.
"Well to me you are...but I'm going to be sure you know that.." he said before kissing her neck again so he could hear her wet heated moans again as she shook in his hold.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Not saying too much, Melinda was too shy to say but she walks off to cool down for a while.
"......."
Jaron Jackal was silent today after he just finished making lunch for everyone. His eyes were looking at the phone checking the messages he and Melinda shared but something was bothering him in the back of his mind.
Ever since that night, Melinda has been more nervous around him. After she got bitten by one of Owen or to say Caizmir's followers, she's been trying to be more careful. Even if this got both the cursed vixens, the DBT, and the other fractions concerned. Not many Nagu's were seen around New York thanks to them but that didn't stop the Jackal from worrying. Right now, he did sent a text to Melinda checking up on her but he looks to the message she last sent.
~~~~~~
(Text): Really Jaron, I'm fine. I'm just...trying to cope with everything that happened. That's all..
(Text): I know that. But you been...distant since that night. I know you're still recovering but I'm starting to worry about you.
(Text): I'm sorry. I don't mean to be a bother...
(Text): Melinda. I always told you, you're alright. You're no bother to me. I'm just worried. You been only sending texts and calling me. I really wish to see you in person again. I don't want anything happening to you.
(Text): I know. Trust me, I'm fine. I just needed time to rest. Believe me, I'm not trying to keep you away from the others or anything I..
(Text): But your not. Melinda, if something was wrong you can tell me. I'm here for you. Remember?
(Text): I know. Thank you Jaron
(Text): Your welcome Melinda just know I'm here for you, alright?
(Text): .......
(Text): Melinda?
(Text):S..sorry and I know.
~~~~~~
However, that conversation was three weeks ago. Something was wrong but he didn't know what it was. He had to figure it out till he heard someone come in the kitchen.
"Hey man, you alright?" Jaron blinks to look seeing Rust standing there. He just came back from helping Ophelia with something but he looks to the window with arms crossed.
"Nothing's wrong. Just..thinking." he mutters but Rust knew something was wrong. Even Jaron didn't sound alright by the tone of his voice. Knowing they were in the kitchen, Rust walks over to place a hand on his shoulder.
"Wanna talk about it? I'm all ears if you need to." he sees the Jackal remain silent for a moment but sighed to look at him.
"Sure.."
In a few minutes, both Jaron and Rust were sitting in the other room to talk as Rust hears his friend talk. He can tell he's really worried but it involves the cursed vixen Melinda or his girlfriend. Rust hears the story before looking quiet after Jaron was done.
"And that's the story." he sighed but Rust looks to him.
"So Melinda has been resting but you were helping take care of her after that right? Now, she's resting or not bothering you?" he asked seeing Jaron nod.
"She's worried about being a bother to me or keeping me from here. I've told her she's not. But.." he looks down at his hands but Rust looks at him.
"But?"
"That's the thing. I'm worried. Something's wrong but I fear she's not opening up to me. Or something is bothering her. I've already said I would give her space to let her think. But now...I want to check on her and see if she's really alright." he said that Rust remains quiet.
"Does she know that? You told me Melinda was always not fully trustful of herself. That or she worries about doing something wrong or hurting someone?" he asked that Jaron sighed.
"She does. I tell her she won't hurt me. I trust her and I just want to be there for her. I want to show her that she can trust me and let me be there during her hard times. To help her through it no matter what." Jaron closes his eyes but Rust looks worried to him.
"Then, lets go and check on her." Jaron looks to Rust but saw him look back.
"You told me Melinda was your girl but you always want to be there for her. So why not go and check on her? And if not, just stay there with her." Rust told him this since he did the same for Breezy and Davion if they were having trouble. Jaron looks to him but then down. He respected her wishes and always tried to respect her privacy but this..this feeling was unsettling for him.
Not after seeing her being hurt and bitten, the jackal couldn't help it. Even after knowing she tends to deal with her herself. Rust saw this but sighed.
"I know that Rust but-"
"Look man, I know you gave your word to respect her privacy and wishes but...sometimes you gotta break it. You wanna be sure she's alright so you have to see for herself. I'm sure she will understand if you did. She cares about ya so checking on her wouldn't hurt." He looks to him as the two look at the time.
"Besides, I think even she is trying but maybe you have to show that your there for her. So just go and check on her." he said that Jaron looks to him but sighed to smile.
"Right. Thanks Rust." he saw the blond nod as Jaron went to tell Ink he will be back and goes out to his car and begins heading to the cursed vixen's place.
~~~~~~Meanwhile~~~~~~
Melinda was in the room but she was curled up in a blanket, her head down while looking at the ground. She's been tired and a bit more out of it since the girls were giving her space to rest up. However, now they were worried about her. Or due to what she said she's been having.
Nightmares or visions. Almost like a voice was speaking to her. She didn't understand but the voice was disturbing to her that she tries to block it out since then. However, it wasn't the only thing that's gotten worse.
She's been feeling worse due to something she's not eaten. Blood. Since the Nagu bit her, she's been given sub blood or medicine to help with the urges. Hex and Ophelia were able to and she was happy they help her.
However, after a while, the medicine won't help anymore. She's been gripping the blanket around her but her silver eyes were half way open to look quiet.
'I don't get it. The medicine isn't helping anymore. It tastes nasty now to me even when they boost the dosage of it. I don't want to be a burden to the others. But I don't want to hurt anyone either.' She closes her eyes, sitting on her bed. The window was covered with the curtains having little light in the room. She only remains there but only grips the blanket tight.
She felt tired, she felt hungry, she didn't know what to do but she think about Jaron. He always wanted to see her safe but she was worried. Even if she was close to...
'No no, it's fine. He's fine. I don't wanna bother him...I don't....want..to...' even if she says this in her thoughts, she still couldn't help but think about him. While she was lost in her own thoughts, a slight chuckle was heard in the room.
'It hurts don't it? You seem to be holding on even if you look tired. You poor thing.'
"!?" Melinda opens her eyes to look around wondering who said that but that's when she tenses seeing it was darker in the room. Someone was here or maybe it's in her head. "W..who.."
'Shhhhh I'm not going to hurt you little vixen. I just came to see if you caved in but no. Your holding on much more longer than I thought..' Melinda knew that voice but she sees saw a shadow like figure to show a familiar look making her eyes darken.
"Y..You. What are you doing here?" she said but the shadow of Caizmir was speaking to her. His eyes still glowed red to look down to her.
"Me? I'm not here to cause issue just to find my new infected followers...but it seems you been struggling.'
"W..What are you talking about?" she said but the shadow chuckled only to disappear leaving her confused but now nervous. Melinda was going to move till she tenses backing up, seeing him close to grip her chin. She winces but didn't move.
'You know what I mean. Your hungry......you hunger for blood don't you?'
"......" She opens her eyes but her silver eyes were now a light red. Melinda looked mad to get her chin from his hand to look away.
"I'm not. You don't know anything so leave me alone.." she said but heard Caizmir sigh.
'You don't have to lie. I know you are. I can see it in your eyes and..it seems even now you grow hungry. Even if you say your not, you are. My followers always crave for blood.....even if you as a few fights it..they don't get far.' he looks to her but she didn't say anything looking away.
'Blood is something Nagu vampires need even ones that got bitten. You'll have to start getting used to it. Since I know if you drink from one person, you'll crave for theirs only.' he sees her still ignoring him but the vixen still keeps her cool to hear him sigh.
'You really are a stubborn one. I didn't expect one of my followers to bite you..but it seems you really are trying. Even if you never drank a drop of true blood before. You have with other vampires...but it's not tasty is it?' he said but she remains quiet.
'You want real blood but..it seems you haven't have you? You poor thing..' he chuckled but Melinda started glowing but glares.
"I'm warning you to leave me alone! Just get out of my head and leave me be!"
'I know you try to fight it dear but tell me..just how strong willed are you?' he teased as she was about to blast the shadow image but something caught her nose to eyes widening.
She saw something dripping from Caizmir's hand but she felt nervous to know what it was.
It was blood. His blood. Wait, what was he doing!?
He smiled to see this but looks to her.
'What's wrong? It seems like you smell something....good. Seems even the sight of blood of any kind is effecting you even now. Your eyes are wide and it seems like your almost drooling a bit...' he teased having blood drip on the carpet but Melinda shook to look away but he looks to her.
"I....I..."
'I know it's hard isn't it? To ignore blood even if you are growing eager to eat any source...even from the one that turned you a little. But if your hungry..you can drink my blood.' he saw her glare but her hand remains up as it shook.
"W..who would want your disgusting blood!? Y..You monster.."
'The ones that weaken for it. I feel you need blood, your hungry for it my dear but you might have to find me if you want it. Blood helps with the craving little vixen.' he chuckled but Melinda's eyes looks down to cover her mouth and nose.
She couldn't lose it! Not to his disgusting blood!
'Though, I'm curious. The longer you fight it, the more I show up. Don't you want to at least have a bit.......others infected tend to get dazed from the sight of blood....so...will you have some to ease the pain?' his bloody hand was out but she was shaking to close her eyes.
'This can't be happening. I don't want his nasty blood. I don't want it! I know I've been ignoring the cravings for a while b..but....even now being near others is going to push me. Just to bite or eat from another..I....I don't know how long I can..' she felt her body shaking, her set of fangs hurting wanting blood but she fights it. Melinda didn't want to lose herself!
'See your losing to it. The smell, that hunger..it's getting stronger isn't it?'
'Don't lose it...d.don't lose it...don't give into his words..'
'You can't fight it forever little vixen..just a simple taste..and you'll be hungry to get more by finding me. Isn't that what you want? You want blood..you need it. Just have a little taste and I'll take care of you. You will come to find me for more. They always do.'
He opens his hand spilling more blood but Melinda opens her eyes as the silver were darken showing the light red. Even if she felt hungry; she slowly sees him have his hand near. Making her smell the blood, it burns her nose.
'N..No..No no no. Get away from me. I don't want your....' she felt her fangs ache, even if her eyes were half way open. She was looking quiet to slowly part her lips more with her tongue hanging a bit like she was going to. Heavily breathing as her eyes were lightly glowing red.
'N..No! What am I d..doing? Push him back! Blast him away..d..don't give into.....'
'That's it.....you demons are so easy to tempt even when your a young adults too easy but it's so much fun.' he was going to let her taste just a bit and she might help with finding more to infect. He knew if she did, he will have her as a follower.
'Now, have a taste..and come to me my little vixen..' Melinda looked to be in some trance now, moving closer to lick up some of his blood.
Until suddenly......
Her room door opens loudly with familiar jackals attacking the shadow Caizmir away to snap Melinda out of it. She held her head seeing the three hearing growling. Even the little pup shows up in front of her barking.
"H..Huh? Wait...Little guy?..Christine, Sid, and Layla? What are y-"
"Get away from her!" Melinda heard the familiar voice as Jaron goes to her side but protects her from the shadowed image of Caizmir. He didn't expect to see a shadow of him but that was bad. He held Melinda close but she was silent not moving.
'...And he comes again. It don't matter, you won't be able to keep me from finding any follower my own bit to bring to me. Good luck trying to help her now.' he chuckled before disappearing into smoke. Jaron looks to where he was but looks to Melinda.
"Melinda? Are you alright? What happened? Are you...."
"....I..I'm fine. I'm fine....b..but what are you doing here? How did you-" she looks to him but he keeps holding her to him then sighed.
"I came to check up on you but..why are you by yourself? Where is Jinx and the others?" he said but Melinda remains quiet.
"T..they were doing some errands b..but I wasn't f..feeling well to go. So I stayed h..home.." she said though Jaron was more worried to look at her. So that explains it.
"You were not well? Why didn't you tell me?"
"...I didn't want to worry you. I thought I can just lay down and sleep b..but....well, you saw...and.." she looks to where he was but Jaron said nothing to hold her. He fears that Caizmir was trying to tempt her to drinking his blood so she would go to find him. Even the thought made the Jackal upset but looks down to Melinda who was shaking in his arms.
"......Melinda..."
"I'm sorry..I..I didn't mean to..." she whispered but she was looking down again to grip his shirt that Jaron said nothing to sigh.
"It's alright but.....I want to help you Melinda. From what I guess, you need blood right? You told me you were taking the medicine that Hex and Ophelia made you?" he asked.
"..I..I was...but it wasn't working after a while so it didn't help me. But it seems I....I need real blood in order for this to go away. He said something that if I drank his blood, I would have been his."
"......."
"But.. I don't want to hurt anyone so..I just tried taking the blood tablet/medicine even if it didn't work." Melinda mutters but her eyes were half way open.
"I didn't want to see anyone attacked because of me. I didn't want to hurt my team. Or you. I...." she sounded like she was going to cry that Jaron gently hushes her while petting her head.
"It's alright, I'm here Melinda but how bad has this been? If you were almost close to drinking that monster's blood, then it must be bad.." he said and yet Melinda couldn't answer. It told Jaron enough; it was.
"That bad?"
"Y..Yes.."
The two said nothing but Jaron only looks ahead but still held her more worried now. She's been going through this all this time and he didn't understand. Why didn't she ask for help? Why didn't she tell him? He wanted to help her, not see her suffer anymore.
"Melinda, why didn't you tell me? I could have helped you." he said but she only remains quiet to look down.
"I..I know. I know I should have but...I...I just didn't want to hurt you and....."
"But you weren't." he said to stop her talking, looking down at her as Melinda looks up to him. "I want to help you because I care about you. I wish you would trust me more and let me help you with these sort of things. Don't you think this worries me just as much as it did for you? I was so worried even after our last conversation. It was three weeks since we spoke....." he looks to even touch her cheek as she reaches to hold his hand there.
"I know you fear your a burden to me, I know you worry you are dangerous to me, hurt me, or worse but you won't. I trust you remember? I will always trust you Melinda because you trust me. Don't you believe me?"
".......I..I do. I..."
"Then have more faith in yourself and in me. I'm here for you Melinda. I'll always be here to help you." He wished she knew that even with everything. Jaron wanted her to be safe. All she did was look up at him but he even leans in to kiss her forehead worried. He wanted her to be safe and well. Seeing her like this hurt as she remains there was troubling to the Jackal.
"I..I'm sorry Jaron..I'm so sorry for worrying you.." she mutters softly but he didn't mind only to look down again.
"It's fine...I'm just happy to get to see you after so long for three weeks." he mutters but saw the jackals smelling the floor of Caizmir's blood. They growl at it but Melinda slowly looks to remember. Right; his blood. It was still there.
"......."
"Melinda? Hey, what's wrong?" he asked but she looks to it to feel her hunger returning again. Jaron saw her looking to the blood drips on her floor but he knew. She was hungry for blood.
"Melinda, hey, don't. Just focus on me. Don't give into his blood." he said but she blinks to wince already feeling it.
"I'm s...sorry It's really hard not to. That monster's blood i..is...I don't know how to explain it. I just c..can't help it...I.....it smells really good for some reason but Nagu's blood is gross but his is...it makes me salivate. It m..makes me want t..to......."
He noticed her shaking now but Jaron knew it was the smell. His blood must either be hard for infected to ignore but he wouldn't have it. As she was about to move towards it, Jaron moves her back carefully to have her sit down on her bed.
"H..Huh? Jaron?" she looks confused when he moved her but he looks at her.
"Melinda..you need to stay strong and don't give into it. That's what he wants. Don't let him win please. I don't want to lose you. Not to him again." he said gripping her shoulders.
"...I'm t..trying Jaron b..but..his b..b..blood..i..it's...I can't.." she whines looking at her lap trying to breath. Jaron looks but he looked worried to her before having some idea. A last resort and hopefully a permanent answer.
"Then....take mine." he said as Melinda's eyes widen to look at him.
"W...what?"
"You heard me, Melinda. Drink my blood. I don't want you to drink not one drop of that monster's blood so take mine instead" Jaron was offering his blood to her. His!? She looked shocked but was worried.
"A..are you crazy? I can't d..do that! I don't want to.....hurt you Jaron. What if I take too much? What if I hurt you? W..what if I..."
"I don't care. I don't want him to do anything to take you to his side. I don't want to see you hurt again like that night!" he said looking to her. "I've always tried to tell you to trust yourself more and trust me. I want to help you, Melinda. I always want to help you and be there for you. Your my girlfriend and seeing you in pain like this hurts me." he looks to her.
"I know you say you think your dangerous to me, thinking you'll hurt me but believe me you won't. " He looks worried to her to touch her cheek.
"So believe me, you aren't hurting me, your not dangerous..I trust you Melinda. I just wish you trust me more even to giving you my blood." he said but she looked shocked to hear he would do this. She only was speechless to see him reaching up to start unbuttoning the top part of his shirt showing his shoulder and neck a little for her. He was serious!
"J...Jaron, really y..you don't have to-"
"I said I was going to and I will. Again, you have to trust me on this. I rather do this than for that monster to try poisoning you to go to him. So please...." He reaches to gently take her hand to rest it on his shoulder but she was silent.
"I'm offering my blood to you...."
"..I......"
She didn't say anything but she felt how warm he was even from the simple touch. Melinda was quiet and yet her eyes were closed trying to calm down for her to grip his shirt. She knew he always cared but even now she could hear his heart beat again. As before when he took care of her.
"I c....can't..I d..don't....I don't want to hurt-"
Before long, he quickly hugs her to him as her eyes went wide, looking up while he didn't let go. He only looks quiet but he wanted to help her. "Melinda please. Do this for me, for yourself. I trust you."
"....." Now she was feeling her hands shaking, keeping her grip on his shirt. Both silver eyes glowing in the dim darkness of her room. She felt calm in his arms but she only shook with her eyes hidden. So warm. He was just so warm that it made her shake more in his arms.
'I can hear his heartbeat even better now, it's soothing. Just like before when he helped me. Though, he's much more warmer now I.....' she shifts just slightly but slowly parted her lips showing the extra set of fangs. 'I can even smell his blood from his own soothing scent. I....*grips his shirt harder* I can't...hold it...any longer...' she panted against his neck trying to resist this craving for him.
"It's okay....Please Melinda.."
Hearing that, she couldn't take it any more to suddenly bites him. She felt her fangs sink in between his shoulder and neck to draw blood from him.
Jaron winces from the sharp bite but he didn't push her away, only holding her tight while she was slowly drinking his blood. He only looks down but the dark did hide his upper face while for her, both eyes widen but whines.
She felt something, almost like a pulse went through her as she begins drinking his blood.
'W..what is this? Jaron's b..blood is Sweet....h..his blood is sweet....' she thought while drinking from him as Melinda was shaking in his arms. Even from this, it seems like the blood on the floor was ignored but she only looked dazed drinking Jaron's blood now. He didn't say anything but held her head with one hand, slowly breathing as she eats.
'There you go...drink what you need, Melinda. I'm right here..' he thought with one eye open and the other closed as she was drinking from him. However, she pulls her head back panting with some of his blood running down her chin looking down. He even hear soft purrs from her.
"Me..Melinda? What's wrong? Are you alright?" he asked trying to catch his breath but she looks down to quickly push him down on his back while catching her breath. Her black hair was covering her upper face but he was worried.
She was catching her breath to look at him. Jaron was catching his own breath as she was but Melinda didn't say much to bring her fingers up to lick off the blood. His blood was sweet or to say not too sweet, good even that she was lowers down to lap up the blood from where she bit him slowly.
He didn't move from the warm licks till he feels her bite him again but harder as his eyes widen to cover his mouth. His body twitched gripping the back of her shirt with face flushed pink as she drinks more blood but he winces while she was eating more.
'I want more of his blood..it tastes s...so warm and sweet..this is really good.....even now the pain from before is going away.....it's way too good..' she thought in her head still drinking but only grips his shirt almost to rip it but she didn't.
He didn't push or fight her but even now, Melinda was drinking what she could while feeling better. He just hopes it's enough to help her as he felt some blood run down his neck but she was pulls her fangs out slightly to lick up any bit that spilled. She didn't want to miss a single drop.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After a while, Melinda did feel better but she was looking down to a resting Jaron who was recovering form her drinking from him. She even made sure he was healing up to look down at him. Her silver eyes were back but she looks to rest his head on her lap.
"Jaron......Thank you for helping me..I hope I didn't take too much.." she mutters now holding his cheek lovingly. However, the blood that Caizmir had was cleaned up but she didn't even notice it. She only noticed Jaron's own blood. Though, now she had to think of a way to repay him. Maybe something of some hot made food later on after he rests up.
For now, she lets him rest but the girls did inform his team he was resting but he will be brought back within a few hours.
