OHHHHH IM FUCKING FUMINGG
WHAT. THE. ACTUAL. FUCK. ARE THEY DOINGGGG ?!!!!!!
- First of all the way Luna described the incident ??? She promised me she'd socialize and then disappeared for no reason ?? THE FUCK DO U MEAN NO REASON ?!!!! Ur friend accosted her until she threw food at his face !!! Clearly there was a reason and clearly there was a fight.
- Did something happen to her as a child?? Oh the way I nearly retched. Why are they making the characters act fucking stupid all of a sudden? First of all Luna, like didn't this whole arc happen already? Where everyone realized that oh yeah Aylin is being bullied and we should all be there for her. Like I don't know AM I CRAZY DID I HALLUCINATE THAT?? Did something happen to her ummm yeah she's been bullied her whole life and you know that ???
- I feel like a big issue seems to be that they r cutting and rearranging things. Like why is Alpha once again like 'fuck I'm so shitty, idk my sisters' as if we didn't spend the entirety of last episode processing that and her other issues????
- SHE SMEARED A PLATE OF FOOD ON TON'S FACE?! Guys is she stressed 😥😥 she's not usually like that 😥😥 Yeah maybe cause usually people don't get in her personal space while she's visibly uncomfortable and don't let up. This whole arc is making me hate Ton and tbh everyone who isn't Aylin.
- Ton drawing a whole ass graph instead of connecting his two existing brain cells and saying sorry is sooooo infuriating. Genuinely if this ep doesn't end with Aylin expressing her discomfort at how everyone made her feel and them making conscious effort to improve I'm gonna kill someone.
- Friendship ended with aylinluna now sunlin is my only friend ☀️👽
- As much as I love the teachers I think at the core of it all everyone is giving Aylin advice from the wrong place. Like sure the problem will now be resolved in the show, but to me the viewer it does not actually feel resolved. I think that part of it is due to the fact that Aylin is very much coded to be an autistic character. Fyi I am neurotypical so I might also be looking at this wrong, but to me it feels like no one has rlly put themselves in her shoes and are just operating under assumptions that don't consider that fact: I'm like u, i used to be like u, i used to be different blabla
- At the end of the day imo the issue was never Aylin, while the intent of encouraging her to socialize was good, it is also important to respect a person's boundaries and throughout this episode this has not been acknowledged once. It drives me crazy that everyone seems to be taking the approach of we r so worried abt Aylin, what's going on with her as if she hadn't been doing her best to socialize with everyone in her own capacity until a person she trusted put her in a situation where someone she doesn't know that well clearly overstepped.
- omg is Aylin gonna express her thoughts like I've wanted her to PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
- TON KILL URSELF U SHOULDN'T EVEN BE HERE !! FUCK IT THE SCALE HAS TIPPED I HATE THIS MAN NOW !! ALL HIS PREV HIMBO ACTS MEANT NOTHING FUCK THAT BITCH !!
- OHHHH THE MEN R PISSING ME THE FUCK OFF. The mean, man hating lesbian in me has awakened. Mawin why the FUCK are u interrupting her U CUNT. Who ever did anything to you?? One of u guys just called her an alien and the other interrupted her a second later, THINK CRITICALLY FOR 5 SECONDS U FUCKING MORONS 🤬🤬🤬
- I hate this episode on so many levels I'm boiling !! Why r they having an anti bullying assembly like did a writer of the show find a pamphlet on the ground and went oh okay that's how we resolve this angst arc we added for no reason tee-hee 😋😋 Also the way this was meant to be about Aylin opening up and she got to say two sentences before everyone was like 'GUYS CONTROVERSIAL TAKE BULLYING = BAD'. let her speak !!
- oh Aylin crying MY BABY im so sad :((
- and here we go making it about ton. Watching this is the worst thing I've done today and I literally had to take a final exam that lasted two hours and which I studied for the day of.
- A ROUND OF BOOING FOR THE MAN PLEASE !!!! 🍅🍅🍅
Does anyone else feel like Aylinluna was horribly out of character this episode?? I've heard that apparently some things were cut, so that might be the reason but it still felt weird. Like ur telling me Luna, who has literally been so respectful of Aylin's boundaries literally even last episode, is suddenly forcing her to go out of her comfort zone?? Okay, fine, I understand the concept of wanting ur gf to get along with ur friends, but ur telling me Luna wouldn't stand up for Aylin when someone is clearly getting in her face and making her uncomfortable?? That she would call her an ALIEN??!!!

ive seen a fair amount of jace and porter evil yaoi which is not a complaint or a diss btw we dont know what jace is getting out of all of this or why he and porter "have always been kind of a duo". what i am saying is that there needs to be an equal but opposite yuri reaction which is that i need people to start thinking about and getting on board with eugenia shadow/terpsichore skullcleaver. see my vision

In the 90s there was a widely spread anime trope of pairing up two women at work who were always together because work and one close with another because their careers had no momentum, they had no love life and no real relationships outside of one another.
Thusly they were lesbian coded.
To give some quick examples on a sliding scale of realism and severity Misato/Ritsuko in Evangelion, Nyamo/Yukari in Azumanga and Mihoshi/Kiyone in Tenchi.
Tumblr media
Though honestly the trope was wide spread enough you could apply the dynamics to things like Rei and Usagi in Sailor Moon.
The core component is that one of them is a workaholic super serious person who tries really hard in matters of work and love and is in THE EXACT SAME POSITION as the other person who is a silly care little mess of a person likely to pass out drunk and need to be tucked in to bed by the serious and responsible one.
The thing I love about this trope is that the pairing works so well for yuri-coupling because through the sheer effort of being themselves the silly one is exposing the great lie of the world to the serious one.
Typically the silly one is actually good at their jobs. It's just not the only thing to their personality. They do not sacrifice their life, prospects and happiness to appease a system that does not care about them and act as living proof of their broken belief system that their partner has by living a fairly happy and carefree life while in the exact same "stuck in their career and love-life" issue.
No matter how much work the serious one does, Gendo will never respect Ritsuku or reciprocate her love. Nyamo will remain a single gym teacher and Kiyone will be a beat cop who gets no respect.
The lie of the world is exposed because the other person just chose to be happy. They aren't killing themselves for people and systems that will never ever give them the thing that they need and though Misato and Yukari are just as unhappy and hopeless as their counterparts, they know how to let their hair down. Even if they're a sloppy drunken mess at times. A manic pixie dream wife, so to speak.
It's through seeing the lie of capitalism and traditional family values exposed, that hard work and being a nice person are worthless virtues in a world that will exploit and never reward them, they begin admiring, respecting (and yes, loving) the other person and relying on them more and more.
I'm an old trans lady. Living proof of the lie of capitalism who wasted too many decades being the workaholic and doing the Right Thing for an uncaring society.
I can't help but adore that kind of ship. It's cheering on someone to break the social barriers and KISS THAT MESSY FOOL SLOPPY STYLE AND PAINT THE TOWN RED TOGETHER!

Iphicles (Male!Reader x Percy Jackson PLATONIC)
Big brother!reader x Percy Jackson PLATIONIC Just headcanons of him protecting and helping and just genuinely being a good brother please 🥹
tw angst, mentions of emotional and physical domestic abuse, injury
NOTE: I was thinking of making this a series and continuing it through to Last Olympian. This one doesn't have as much Percy x big brother interaction, but think of it as a setup. Let me know if you want more!
Tumblr media
Did you know Heracles had a brother?
While Heracles was the son of Zeus and Alcmene, Alcmene had a husband already - Amphitryon, a mortal man. So there were two babies in the crib - the child of a god and the child of a mortal.
This child was named Iphicles. And while he was never as strong as his brother, he was a powerful warrior in his own right, and accompanied his brother on his quest.
You think about this myth a lot.
You're about four when you meet Poseidon. He went by Yuri then, and it was only later you found out it was short for one of his other names, Eurykreion, which meant wide-ruling.
Yuri loves your mom, you know that. But it's hard, that year, when they get close, and you start to get attached to this guy who might be a father figure to you, and he vanishes.
Leaving your mom pregnant, and you with nothing.
Nothing but a brother with a weird name.
You're ten when Mom meets Gabe. Gabe seems kinda cool at first. He lets you ride in the front seat of his Camaro when he takes you to school, teaches you how to open his beer bottles on the corner of a table (oh what a red flag that turned out to be), and he takes an interest in you, when most of your life since Percy has been about the really weird stuff that starts to happen around him.
You remember screaming when you saw that snake in Percy's crib.
You're pretty sure that that lady who tried to take Percy from his stroller wasn't just wearing a funky coat, and actually had wings.
Or that bus driver with the one eye.
Mom freaks out you bring home a book about Greek myths from the library. She bans you from showing it to Percy.
And that's when it kinda clicks. These monsters you read about... they're part of the world, but they fit in differently. They're not robbers on the dangerous roads between Athens and Thebes, they're mattress salesmen and reclusive sculptors, and kindly old women on the bus, and teachers that constantly demean your little brother for his dyslexia.
Like, you're ten, and MOM can barely even say dyslexia, so how could your six year old little brother figure it out?
And then Gabe shows his true colors. All the little warning signs that could be forgiven from a nice guy start to balloon to almost comic proportions.
You've been a good big brother to Percy. Yeah, it's your job to take care of him, but you love him too. He's tiny and adorable and afraid of everything, and you just wanna show him that things can be good. Like the blue food your mom makes, or the little moments you can make for him that aren't weird or worrying.
But then Gabe tears your little brother away. Percy gets sent off to boarding school after boarding school. For six long years, the only time you see your brother is during the summer, or when he gets expelled.
Part of you wonders if he feels that same sibling bond, if he wants to leave his fancy schools to get back to you.
Gabe's a shit. Way more when the little kid isn't around, and as you get older, he gets bolder, more willing to get nasty the less you look like a baby.
You try not to get bitter, but it sucks so much, living like this. Your mom works soul-crushing hours at that candy store, and her mean boss says you can't just hang out there after school anymore cause you'll distract her.
You wander New York as long as you can after school rather than be alone with Gabe.
And the one time you tried to talk to a counselor at school, she perked up oddly and mentioned your little brother Perseus (how did she even know?) and her eyes changed color and you ran as fast as you could.
You feel angry at the world. At Gabe. At your mother, for letting your brother get sent away, for doing nothing when Gabe yelled at you for no reason, for all the little things, and at yourself for blaming her, for being powerless yourself, for barely recognizing Percy when he gets home, for almost hoping he gets expelled soon so he can reunite with you sooner.
You've had suspicions since you were nine. You turn sixteen and you scream at the Harlem River, daring Poseidon to fight you.
And for any other mortal, he wouldn't show up, but a hand lands on your shoulder and you turn to punch Yuri in the gut.
Your hand breaks, but he pulls a starfish out of his pocket and plasters it over your hand and you can feel the bones mending, and you both sit and talk.
The gods are real.
And they suck.
Your mom refused his offer of a palace under the sea, and you can't decide whether to hate her for it or hate Poseidon for dating your mom when he's already married and he knew he couldn't stay.
He's never been there for Percy. Never been there for your mom. Never been there for you.
Gabe hits her, does he know that? How long until he starts hitting you? Hitting Percy?
How long before the dwindling light goes out?
You hate him so much, you growl, but he hugs you and all the fight leaves, like the tide finally setting back out.
You are not his son, but in that moment you are of the sea, and he understands you.
You are the son of Sally Jackson, the brother of Perseus, and you will be the Earthshaker where the Earthshaker himself cannot tread.
It doesn't change anything, but when Poseidon finally says it, finally says "I am sorry," it moves you. There is someone out there that can see and acknowledge your suffering. Poseidon has lost countless children, was eaten by his own father, betrayed by his brothers. He has witnessed the entire breadth of humanity, and yet in this moment, a god apologizes for the woes of a mortal.
You are sixteen when you meet a god.
He will not be the last.
Poseidon kisses your forehead, drenching you in seafoam as he vanishes, and you feel reborn.
You are worn smooth by waves, hardened by salty brine, and you bide your time, even bringing yourself to smile at Gabe when you get home. You make the bean dip so Mom can rest when she gets home, and you smirk when Gabe is visibly shaken by your confidence.
You wait, because like Poseidon said, Percy is getting older, and things may come to pass. He will need a guardian, a guide.
There is a place for children of the gods, like him.
Camp Half-Blood.

Saint Maria Skobstova was an Orthodox Christian and ardent socialist. Born in Latvia in 1891 to an aristocratic family, she eschewed her birth and allied herself with the radical socialists she met in Saint Petersburg. In 1910 she married a fellow Bolshevik and published a book of socialist poetry. Her marriage quickly disintegrated, her husband renouncing socialism and becoming a Roman Catholic priest. Maria continued to write poetry and pamphlets. In 1918 after the Bolshevik revolution, in which she directly participated, she was sent to Anapa in the south of Russia where she was elected mayor. After the anti communist White Army took control of the town, Maria was arrested and put on trial for her role in the revolution. The judge was Daniil Skobstova, a former teacher of hers. She was acquitted and the two fell in love and soon married.
Due to the ever shifting political tide in Russia, Maria and her husband made their way to France, arriving in Paris in 1923, Maria having given birth to three children along the way. Her husband was a wealthy man and purchased a large home from the family in Paris. When Maria begged him to make use of the house for the mutual aid of the poor, he refused. Maria subsequently divorced him.
After her divorce, her bishop advised her to become nun. She agreed on the condition that she would not be secluded away in an isolated convent but that she would be able to stay in Paris and serve the poor. After her tonsure, now called Mother Maria, she converted her large home into a mutual aid center. The top floors becoming a free medical clinic, and the bottom floors serving as soup kitchen and hostel. Mother Maria, with the help of her two grown children Yuri and Sophia, served over 400 hot meals a day. Maria rented a small house in Paris which became her convent. It was during this time that her eldest daughter, Anastasia, died suddenly of influenza. Her death spurred Maria deeper into theological writing and charitable works. She began to devote every waking hour to the Church and to the poor of Paris.
When the Nazis invaded Paris, Mother Maria worked with her priest to provide baptismal certificates for Parisian Jews. When the Nazis began to round up the Jewish population, Mother Maria visited them thrice daily, bringing them hot meals and spending time with them, treating them as equals and reminding them of their human dignity. As she left, she would always try to sneak Jewish children out in the empty soup pots and trash cans. Once out, she and her priest would arrange travel to the south of France and then out to unoccupied countries.
Her smuggling activities were discovered and she, her two children, and her priest were arrested. Her priest and children were sent to Dora concentration camp where they died. Mother Maria was sent to Ravensbrück, the all-female concentration camp which housed mostly socialists, Christians, and homosexuals.
At Ravensbrück, Mother Maria lead Christian prisoners in prayer and worship, and organised mutual aid for the few children (mostly orphaned Romani) who were at the camp, ensuring the children had food and clothing and even arranging dolls and books to be made for them.
In early March of 1945, the Soviet Red Army continued their advance into Germany, concentration camps were closed and the women who were not shot were sent to Ravensbrück for immediate gassing. One group of women, imprisoned for "asocial behaviour" (homosexuality) arrived in Ravensbrück in early April.
The lesbians were rounded up, forced into a single column, and led to the gas chamber. Amongst them was a 16 year old girl whom Mother Maria had never met. Her heart broke for this child and she immediately volunteered to take her place in line, secretly passing her a piece of paper.
On Saturday April 7th 1945, Holy Saturday according to the Orthodox calendar, Mother Maria was murdered in the gas chambers surrounded by young homosexual women. It is said that she chanted the psalms as she died.
Less than a week later, the Soviet army liberated the camp. On the body of a young girl who had been shot as the Nazis fled, they found a poem in Mother Maria's handwriting:
O Lord, remember, not only the men and women of good will, but also those of ill will.
But do not remember all the suffering they have inflicted on us; remember the fruits we have borne, thanks to this suffering:
our comradeship, our loyalty, our humility, our courage, our generosity, the greatness of heart which has grown out of all this,
and when they come to judgement, let all the fruits we have borne be their forgiveness.
Mother Maria Skobstova of Paris, pray to God for us.

Hating on Ending D will get you nowhere.
Don’t underestimate it.
One thing that pisses me off about this stupid fandom were the reactions of the killugon fans once they heard about Ending D.
Nah cuz let’s talk about it.
These ppl are seriously acting delulu rn.
They weren’t too much before but now it’s just ridiculous.
I’m starting to see a reaction pattern here through this plausible ending:
1) Some are saying that Togashi said this as a joke therefore, he’s just fucking with us and hasn’t actually revealed anything.
2) Togashi will never use this ending because he scrapped it.
3) Togashi said that his personal favorite ending was Ending C but he said that the majority of the fans will hate it. So it doesn’t mean that he’s super ecstatic by Ending D.
4) This ending is way too shonen and cliché for him to actually use. Since it’s so basic, it doesn’t scream his style. Therefore, even if the ending happened, it wouldn’t feel real.
5) The fans who like this ending are problematic and homophobic.
I’m so sick of hearing these same things come out of their mouths so let me just clearly explain why this is all ridiculous:
1) Why would Togashi ever joke about something like his plausible passing and the work he’s been working so hard for which started in 1998?? The dude has never once joked around with the questions he received about hxh. He’s also been the type to spoil some people through interview questions too so if we follow your logic, that would mean he would’ve also lied about the fact that Kurapika and all the phantom troupe members would die.
Tumblr media
2) We shouldn’t act so hasty when it comes to this ending just because it got scrapped. Togashi did say that he took it out from the endings he was planning on using but it doesn’t change the fact that he: a) actually took his time out of the day to think about the idea in the past and b) said that he’ll use it if his time runs out and if he can’t come up with a greater ending better than the three ones he already got.
Tumblr media
3) Yes, it’s true. Out of the three ones we got, Togashi’s favorite ending was the third one, Ending C. So what? He said he kept it around simply because it was his favorite.
Tumblr media
That also means he’s not so into Ending A and Ending B. An author doesn’t have to specifically use their favourite ending to end their series. They have to think about what the audience and what the majority of the reactions would be like to the ending they came up with. So since he estimated that only 10% of the fandom will like Ending C and 90% of it will hate it, there’s a very high chance he won’t even attempt at using it for the ending. Also, we have no idea what the ending is about.
4) The ending may sound basic and very shonen-like but so was Yu Yu Hakusho’s ending. Or rather the ending of the main character Yusuke. If you don’t happen to know, Yu Yu Hakusho was Togashi’s old work and in it, the main character Yusuke comes back from his adventures to marry a girl named Keiko, his childhood friend.
Tumblr media
5) Did you ever stop to think that maybe some people just didn’t like killugon? Shocking, I know. We just plainly don’t like it. It doesn’t make the most of us homophobic or problematic in the least, stop trying to shove that dumb idea onto other killugon fans’ throats. Some of us are just not into yaoi and have tried to get into it but just don’t see the appeal (i’m personally more of a hetero and yuri fan) of it. Also, some of us would be delighted to see more female characters taking more major roles in hxh. It would be refreshing to see since the main cast is all filled with males while the females usually take minor roles like mothers, instructors, teachers, supporters for some male characters, (ex: Mito, Kikyo, Abe, Noko, Palm, Bisky, Coco Loo, Coco from Heavens Arena, Melody, Alluka) or are just in the background most of the time (ex: Canary, Amane, Tsubone, Shizuku, Machi) (wow these almost sounds like SHONEN ROLES FOR WOMEN).

Book 1 Part 2 Chapter 1.1
Chapter 1: Learning
“Pl… Please… fetch… my… Uh…”
“Book—?”
“Book for me.”
The voice stumbled over the words, but gently prompted by the hints given, they managed to finish the sentence without faltering.
“Okay, good job!”
Yuri sat down, looking not altogether unpleased with the praise he had received.
They were in a corner of Fountain Alley’s plaza. Around ten people sat on the open ground in front of an old-deserted house. Some sat directly on the ground, while others sat on reasonably-sized buckets or falling-apart wooden chairs that they had brought from somewhere else.
The people there were as diverse as their seats — there were both men and women, and old and young alike. All of them, however, were sitting facing the wall of the nearby building. Written on the wall were letters in black lines.
A woman stood alone next to the letters. Combined with the thinness of the letter’s lines, she exuded a refined elegance that didn’t suit the lower quarter. Her name was Norein Scifo. Occasionally she would cough weakly, and use the charcoal in her hand to write letters on the wall.
She was a teacher. All students were welcome. Anyone in the lower quarter could attend her classes if they wanted to. Whenever the residents were interested, had some free time from work, or just simply wanted to kill time, they would take a seat in a corner of the ‘classroom’ and listen in.
Her lessons mainly taught how to read and write simple words. There were never any schools in the poor lower quarter, and there were few families who could afford sending their children to school in the citizens' quarter on the ‘other side of the wall’. Most of the adults were unable to read or write, and even if they did, they had never thought of teaching it to anyone else.
Though often influenced by Noreins condition — and the weather — her classes were usually held every day. While he couldn’t say he’d attended all of them, Yuri was a regular presence at her classes.
Him, and one more person — Norein’s son, Flynn. Despite not really needing them, he often showed up to her classes, though not as often as Yuri did. Those who came late could usually see the black-haired and golden-haired boys sitting nearly side by side in front of the teacher Norein.
“Okay, let’s all read it together again.”
As Norein pointed at the letters, everyone raised their voices in unison. Many of them were uncertain of the words, faltering in places like Yuri had, but even so, there was a certain sort of excitement seen in their expressions. The excitement of being able to touch something that had been inaccessible to them until now.
While everyone else paid attention to the wall, only Flynn watched his mother, with mixed feelings in his heart. He had already mastered the basics of reading and writing, and at this level of content, he could follow her lessons without much concentration needed.
Flynn looked at the expression on his mother’s face and acknowledged the gentle smile she now wore. It was something he hadn’t seen ever since they were driven out of the citizens' quarter, or more accurately, ever since the incident that had triggered it.
Ever since that day, the world had become a cold and cruel place to the mother and son. His mother had wilted like a flower suddenly thrown into winter. Flynn had witnessed it happen but couldn’t do anything to help, and had ended up feeling irritated and frustrated.
But then, like the sun shining through a gap in the thick clouds and illuminating the earth, a turning point occurred.
Flynn sneaked a glance at Yuri, who sat beside him reciting in a loud, stuttering voice. Every time he looked at this eccentric — That’s my line, he could almost hear the boy saying — boy, he would always feel a strange sensation wash over him.
There were still a lot of things Flynn didn’t know about Yuri, and occasionally, Yuri would do seemingly thoughtless things that made it hard to believe the person in question possessed any common sense.
Even so, Flynn couldn’t deny when they worked together, sometimes, that led to unexpected breakthroughs in situations. Though Flynn could say with absolute certainty that Yuri hadn’t meant to.
This time too, it was Flynn who had brought it up, but Yuri was the one who had served as the catalyst.
Who exactly are you? Flynn asked silently. But most likely, the person in question didn’t have an answer to that question either. He was sure of it. The moment he thought that, he couldn’t help but feel a strange sense of gratification.
Shaking his golden hair slightly, the boy concealed the smile starting to appear on his face.

——Going back to a few weeks ago.
Ever since that day, Yuri and Flynn, who had unexpectedly ended up co-owning a sword, began dedicating their free time to training. That being said, it wasn’t like they had anyone to teach them. Rather than training, what the two of them did could better be described as self-taught.
In Yuri’s case, he had to start with the basics, so it was safe to say his teacher was Flynn to some extent. However, this teacher-student relationship was fraught with difficulties from the very beginning.
“You’re doing it again! The centre of your stance is off! Straighten your back!”
“I am doing it. It’s like this, right?!”
“That’s not it, your back!”
“And I’m telling you I know that!”
Determined to improve, he had bowed his head and begged Flynn to teach him, but if he was constantly receiving negative criticisms from someone his age, it’s not like he could remain calm forever. On the other hand, it wasn’t as if Flynn had any particular skill for teaching. Differences in personality and skill aside, at the end of the day, both of them were still children lacking in discipline.
“It’s over. I give up. I’m done for today.”
Out of patience, Yuri tossed away his sword. Making no attempt to conceal his irritation, Flynn yelled at him.
“Don’t handle it so roughly! The sword doesn’t only belong to you!”
The fed-up Yuri looked away without answering. Despite that, when Flynn picked up the sword and began to do practice swings, he slowly started to feel restless, until in the end, he spoke.
“Give it back. I still want to practise.”
“I thought you said you were done for the day?”
“I changed my mind, so give it back!”
Ownership of the sword changes every day. But if the person gives up their rights, the other person can use it on the same day. That was the deal the two of them made.
Naturally, just because they give up their rights to use the sword on that day doesn’t mean they can use it on the next. If they gave up the rights without using it until they were satisfied, then the next day they’d have to endure feeling pent-up and stifled for the whole day. Yuri had experienced that more than once. Each time, he would swear to himself that he would never again abandon his sword halfway through training, but after listening to Flynn’s nagging, he would repeat the incident all over again. Which led to their current exchange.
If Flynn had to say, Yuri lacked not only patience but obedience as well — to a devastating extent.
No matter how much he taught Yuri, for some reason, not only would Yuri not follow his exact teachings, but he would also try to add on his own interpretations. It was only after he had tested enough of this and that, and was satisfied with it, that he would follow the original teachings. It was unavoidable that the process took a lot of time. More than anything, his attitude of questioning every single detail of what their ancestors had built upon and passed down felt irrelevant to Flynn — but despite that, once he was satisfied with it, his speed at absorbing it was something Flynn was forced to admit was remarkable.
Even though he didn’t say it out aloud, that wasn’t the only problem Flynn had with the sword. He had no qualms about sharing a sword that was once solely his. In fact, he was even grateful for the help in pooling together what little money they had and spending it all for the sake of buying a single sword.
The problem was having time for his own training. When he didn’t have the rights to use the sword, he had to teach Yuri — at his request — swordsmanship. Though he’d be lying if he said he didn’t feel any regret every time they argued, it couldn’t be helped, because that was the promise he made when they bought the sword. Even when he did have the rights to use the sword, it didn’t mean he could necessarily do as he pleased.
That was because as soon as Flynn started training, Yuri would immediately come up to him and bombard him with questions like ‘Why did you move like that?’ and ‘Why is your grip like that?’.
At first, Flynn had been touched by his enthusiasm and answered him, but after a while he found it was getting in the way of his training.
Those thoughts only grew stronger. Even though he’d finally gotten back his sword, he couldn’t hope to improve if this continued.
Of course, Yuri had no ulterior motives. He simply wanted to catch up to Flynn as soon as possible. His single-minded pursuit meant that if he saw something he didn’t know or understand, he would greedily strive to master it.
Flynn knew that Yuri wasn’t doing it out of maliciousness, and thus couldn’t refuse him, and continued to nurture his progress. Of course, if actually doing it was as easy as the rationale behind it, then they wouldn’t be having so much trouble right now. Naturally his words became more and more harsh, and because of that now it was Yuri’s turn to be unamused. He didn’t think he was making any mistakes, and instead was being criticised more harshly than necessary, which made him feel even more dissatisfied.
They had finally obtained a sword, and in truth, due to their training, they had gotten better than they thought they had. But at this rate, they would be hastening not just the destruction of their sword, but also their relationship and everything in between.
What changed all that, was thanks to a single book.
****
On that day, Flynn had ownership of the sword. For once, there was no sign of Yuri, and Flynn could swing his sword to his heart’s content in front of his house. He would reflect upon the instructions he had once been given, and repeat them over and over again, to confirm that his body had really memorised them.
For him, this was akin to a ritual of sorts, that allowed him to regain the bond he had lost, or perhaps to prevent him from forgetting those memories.
His mother hadn’t been feeling well lately, and even now was in the house, resting. When he had confessed to her about getting back his sword, Norein had said nothing, only showing an expression that he couldn’t tell was sad or smiling.
She knew. As he swung his sword, Flynn thought. That there was no way her son could have gotten back the sword on his own. Flynn had only told her that he had properly paid money to buy it back, and his mother had accepted it without prying any further.
Flynn continued swinging his sword single-mindedly.
Eventually, when he was convinced that the fundamentals were firmly ingrained within him, Flynn picked up a book from on top of the barrel next to him that served as a makeshift table.
The simple binding was dirty and worn, but not to the point that the text was unreadable. Rather than being treated poorly, it was the result of many hands having flipped through the pages for a long time.
Flynn also handled the book with much more care than with his sword. Careful not to let the sweat dripping down his face fall onto the pages, he slowly opened it and searched for the page he was looking for.
Many of the pages had illustrations drawn on them in addition to text — illustrations of a person in armour holding a sword in different stances.
Flynn’s finger stopped on a certain page. He traced the words with his fingertips as he read them. He stared at the numerous illustrations on the page until his gaze could almost bore a hole into them. Then, with that page open, he put the book back on the barrel and picked up the sword again.
He closed his eyes and pictured in his mind the illustration he had just seen. He slowly changed his posture until it overlapped with the image in his mind. If not the same, then as similar as possible. Once he was satisfied, for a while he would stand still in that position, before moving onto the stance shown in the next illustration.
Try out the stance, memorise it in mind and body, and once satisfied, swiftly repeat them as a series of movements. Over and over again.
The feedback from his body was good. He could feel the movements becoming ingrained into his body. If he continued this for a few more rounds, he felt like he might be able to grasp something—
“Is that the basis for your swordsmanship?”
The sudden voice interrupted his thoughts. The light almost within his reach faded away.
He was so close. He had almost reached it, but it had slipped away at the last moment. The opportunity was lost. Panting and drenched in sweat, Flynn turned and shot Yuri a glare.
At some point during his training, Yuri had arrived. Completely oblivious to what was going through Flynn’s mind, without even looking at Flynn, the black-haired boy’s gaze was fixed on the book on top of the barrel.
“……It’s a training manual for swordsmanship.”
There were so many things he wanted to say, but Flynn only managed to get out that much, shoulders heaving as he gasped for air.
Yuri got closer and peered at the book. Flynn felt the pit of his stomach grow hot. Though he knew Yuri didn’t mean any harm, even now, he couldn’t quite get used to how the residents of the lower quarter could occasionally act bluntly and tactlessly.
“That’s important to me.”
Flynn murmured, and Yuri must have sensed something, because he pulled back his outstretched hand. But his eyes remained glued to the book, refusing to look away, like a hungry beast staring down a feast placed in front of it.
“Hey, does that mean if I read this, I’ll be able to master swordsmanship like you? And learn even more amazing techniques—”
“It doesn't do something as convenient as that.”
Feeling as if his pride had been hurt, Flynn couldn’t help but raise his voice and say.
“Well, I guess that’s true.”
Yuri readily shrugged his shoulders.
“Just listening to you talk doesn’t help me at all. But if I practise according to what’s written here, I’ll be able to get by somehow, right?”
“……At least, that’s what I believe.”
It might just be possible. Flynn’s voice lowered as he remembered he was on the verge of realising a part of that just a moments ago.
When he’d lost his previous way of life, he had lost many things, but this book was one of the few possessions he couldn’t bear to part with. It felt painful to let go of the sword, but he told himself that he’d be able to obtain one again someday. But the book was different. This book was the teaching itself. The sword was a vessel. But what was written in the book held a soul that must be kept within. Of the person who gave it to him, and then sacrificed himself.
If I have this, I can get closer to him. No matter how it looked to others, to Flynn, that was his truth.
“Hey, let’s make it so I can read this too.”
Not picking up on Flynn’s thoughts in the slightest, Yuri said.
He says it so easily. He doesn’t even know how much respect I have for the knowledge written in this book. He doesn’t even know how symbolic this book is to me. Even though he knew it was due to ignorance, Flynn couldn’t hold back his anger.
First of all, Yuri. He has both a strong interest and a lack of patience. No matter how much he reads, will he be able to continue practising patiently until he masters the techniques?
Recalling the arguments they had during training, and the interruptions during his own sword practice, and all the other numerous exchanges they’ve had until now, Flynn felt like he had been put in an incredibly unfair situation. Mix in the painful memories of the hardships he had gone through before he’d met Yuri, and he felt ready to explode.
Suddenly, something inside of him seized the reins within him. Like calming a rampaging horse or whispering to a restless spirit, it spoke. Calm down. Calm yourself. Don’t let your emotions get the better of you. That, too, was a lesson Flynn had once been taught, a lesson almost as precious to him as his sword techniques.
Flynn took a deep breath, and exhaled slowly. As if he was expelling his violent emotions with it. His irritation didn’t completely subside, so naturally his voice was filled with barbs as he spoke.
“You can read it if you want to,” the golden-haired boy said curtly. “But if you damage anything, I will never forgive you.”
“Um, even if you say that…”
Yuri said as he scratched the back of his black-haired head. The irritation came back. What? Are you saying that’s not enough for you?
“……I, can’t read.”
“Ah……”
The unexpected words left Flynn speechless. In the place where he used to live, it was only natural for even commoners to be able to read and write. In fact, if they couldn’t, you could say it would be a terrible hindrance to their daily life.
But here, in the lower quarter.
Flynn looked at the training manual just sitting there. Then he thought about the various books and texts he had come into contact with. To think that they couldn’t read any of that. To think that they had been kept from being able to access anything written in there.
Once again Flynn was shocked at the way of life in the lower quarter. As for Yuri, after seeing Flynn’s reaction, he started to look a little embarrassed.
Flynn suddenly felt ashamed of himself.
“But… I’ve never taught anyone to read or write.”
“You’re teaching me how to use a sword. It’s pretty much the same, right?”
Yuri said nonchalantly. That easygoing demeanour of his made Flynn feel like he had been rescued. That being said, what should he do?
“Hey, please?”
“I can’t do something like that so easily…”
Suddenly, a thought flashed through his mind.
“……Mother.”
“Mother? Yours?”
Flynn nodded slowly, as if confirming his own idea.
“She even teaches me from time to time. My mother might be able to teach you.”
Now it was Yuri’s turn to wince. It had been a long time since then, but the memory of Flynn’s mother’s attitude towards him on the day he had first confronted Flynn was still fresh in his memory. He still remembered how the atmosphere back then was by no means friendly.
The training manual on the barrel caught his eye. Hidden in there were the secret techniques for swordsmanship. If I can read it, I can catch up to Flynn that much quicker. If I can read it—
Yuri turned back to Flynn.
“I understand. I’ll be counting on you.”
“Okay, but not today. Mother isn’t feeling well, and right now she’s asleep.”
“Sure. As long as she can teach me, I have no complaints.”
As if feeling refreshed, Yuri smiled.
“I’ll go back for today. I hope your mother feels better soon.”
As if he could hurry up and master the contents of the training manual, Yuri waved his hand and left with an incredible lightness in his steps.
Flynn was left alone again. He looked in the direction of the leaving Yuri, and then in the direction of the house where his mother was. Does Yuri really intend to study? Will Mother accept? He had no idea.
Did he make a hasty promise without considering the condition his mother was in? His mind was now filled with such concerns.
He caught sight of the still-open training manual. It was then he realised he had been gripping his sword the whole time. Its blade gleamed brightly, as if protesting that Flynn had forgotten all about its existence.
Flynn shook his head, also shaking off the thoughts swirling inside his heart. Let’s not think about that right now. Just for now. Recalling the illustration drawn in the training manual once again, the boy readied his sword and swung it fiercely, as if to sever away all of his doubts.
****
Hasty or not, once he gave it, Flynn had no intention of breaking his promise. It had taken a while for Norein to recover, but surprisingly Yuri hadn’t tried to rush him, and Flynn was grateful for that.
Eventually his mother managed to recover and Flynn asked her about the matter of reading and writing. At first, Norein had listened to him with a somewhat dubious look on her face, but after he was done and was nervously gauging her reaction, she spoke.
“Alright, let’s give it a try. I don’t know if it will go as well as when I taught you, but this if your first request since we came here. Besides…”
Norein paused, and smiled gently at her son.
“This is for the sake of the first friend you made here.”
Friend. He had thought it to himself, but hearing it so clearly from someone else’s mouth, and it was his mother’s, no less, made him feel embarrassed. Forgetting his surprise at his mother’s quick acceptance of his request, Flynn felt his cheeks grow hot.
In any case, it looked like he was going to be able to fulfil his promise. Now all Yuri has to do is — wait a minute. Will he be attending school here? On the days when he doesn’t have ownership rights to the sword? In other words, I’ll be seeing him not only during training but also at my house every day? That in itself was something to think about.
However, things unfolded in a manner even more unexpected than Flynn had anticipated.
A few days after Flynn told Yuri that his mother had agreed, there was a soft knock on his house’s front door, as gentle as a fallen leaf. When he opened it he saw an elderly man standing there alone, with a gentle face along with his hunched back.
“……Mister Hanks?”
“Oh, Flynn, you look well. I have something to discuss with your mother, is she free to talk right now?”
****
“Everyone… I, um…”
Holding a hand to her chest, Norein said, looking lost in thought. In front of her Hanks stood there, nodding his head.
“There are a lot of people in the lower quarter who can’t read or write, but there aren’t a lot of people who are good enough to teach it. It’d be a great help if you would teach them.”
Yuri was supposed to be her only student, but in a short period of time the conversation had taken an unexpected turn. Perhaps because Yuri looked unusually happy, or because he seemed so far from his usual composed self — Jiri and the other adults had thought he was up to his usual sinister schemes and grilled him until he confessed. At first Yuri had been evasive and tried to avoid answering, but in the end he had cracked and told them everything.
Now knowing that this had all started because of the sword, Jiri had only frowned slightly and said nothing more. In fact, she was secretly surprised. She had never thought that Yuri of all people would say he wanted to study.
But Hanks, who had also been listening, had another idea. A teacher had appeared in the lower quarter. Why should she only have one student?
“Of course, I have no intention of asking you to do it for free. It’s a respected job, after all. I intend to keep that in mind.”
Thus, Norein became a teacher in the lower quarter, and taught all who desired to learn. She had no textbooks or formal training, but her experience in teaching her son proved to be useful.
Flynn had objected to it, worried it would worsen her health, but Norein had decided all on her own to step out of her house. The classroom was in a corner of the plaza in the centre of Fountain Alley. In place of a textbook, she would use charcoal to write letters on the building’s wall. After class, the students for the day would clean the walls. Tuition fees were paid in small change and food.
Most of the students were adults. Like Hanks said, it was rare for anyone in the lower quarter to be able to read and write. Flynn was once again made aware that this place was fundamentally different from the place he had lived before.
Jareth and the other children were not among the people who came to learn. Most of them showed up out of curiosity, but soon got bored and left, until Yuri was the only one that remained. The only time Yuri was generally only absent when his manual work coincided with the lesson timings.
Of course, even Yuri wasn’t able to maintain his concentration all of the time — just as Flynn had predicted. There were times where he felt like he couldn’t keep up with the lessons, or felt the lessons were becoming too monotonous, and would keep away for a while. But he would always come back to class — for two main reasons.
He still hadn’t gotten tired of sword training, which meant that whether he liked it or not, he would still see Flynn swinging his sword with the training manual by his side. Each time, a feeling similar to impatience would be revived in him.
Besides, when all was said and done, the reason Norein had come all the way to the plaza at the risk of her health was originally because of Yuri’s request. He couldn’t forget that and abandon her lessons.
With Yuri now fully devoted to his lessons,  on the days when Flynn had the sword, he was able to swing his sword undisturbed and to his heart’s content. As he threw himself into his training all alone, more than once, he’d experience a large breakthrough and unthinkingly cry out in joy.
However, gradually, the thought that this result had only been possible because he had pushed Yuri onto his mother started to occupy his mind. Ever since the incident that had led them to move to the lower quarter, his mother had become incredibly frail in both mind and body. Yet day after day, she would go out to the plaza, saying it was her job.
Guilty and worried, Flynn headed towards the plaza.
But when he arrived, his eyes widened. He was his mother standing there, passionately delivering a lecture. She still looked thin and fragile as ever, but he could definitely feel the aura of determination and vigour emanating from her. It wasn’t comparable to before, but still, it was the first time since their move to the lower quarter that he had seen a light in her eyes.
This was something beyond comprehension to the young Flynn, but Norein’s change was not without reason.
Before coming to the lower quarter, she had lived a comfortable, not to say wealthy life. Then one day, she had been kicked out and left with almost nothing to her name, and no one around her willing to lend her a helping hand. Norein’s mind and body had suffered a huge blow, and poverty had taken an even bigger toll on her.
Poverty was only one of the factors. The people of the lower quarter had done all they could to help the mother and son who had nothing on them and no means of making a living. Housing and food became a source of inner conflict, and Norein was tormented by it. To put it simply, she had no choice but to rely on the charity of others around her to survive. Even though she had nothing to offer in return. If she was alone, she would have chosen to starve to death. But even as she argued that this was for her son’s sake, her miserable state remained unchanged, and that tormented her and drove her to illness.
But right now, even if it was a small thing, the people around her needed her, and even thanked her for it. Even though it was incredibly tiring for her to travel from her house to the plaza every day, she had regained her reason to live. And, a little bit of her pride, too.
Surprised and touched by his mother’s liveliness, and as if he had been guided to, Flynn joined in on the lessons. He could sense something else present in her lessons — something different from just learning how to read and write.
Noticing Flynn’s nosy presence, Yuri made space next to him. At first, Flynn had felt uncomfortable sitting right in front of his mother, but after a while he had gotten used to it.
His mother didn’t make any particular sign that she had noticed him, but she seemed somewhat happy.
****
And so, Flynn once again became his mother’s student. Since he had already learned most of the basic fundamentals of reading and writing, he rarely had the opportunity to learn anything new. But occasionally he would come to the plaza and read out aloud the words written on the wall with Yuri. Sometimes he would help his mother, writing the letters in  charcoal while everyone watched.
Although her voice remained soft, his mother continued to conduct her lectures smoothly, and Yuri — for the most part — continued to learn enthusiastically.
Tumblr media
It had been a completely unexpected turn of events, but maybe this was for the best. Thinking in a corner of his mind what kind of training he should do after this, Flynn returned his attention to the lesson in front of him.

Rejet...just Rejet
Cw for mentions of age gaps, teacher x student romance, slave x slave owner romance, pedophilia, incest, misogyny, sexualized violence and imprisonment against women, suicide and suicide ideation, real and fictional racism, stalking, bullying, DID misrepresentation, and vore.
LOOOOOOOOONG post ahead.
Rejet started out as female-oriented CD and otome game developer since 2009, with Daisuke Iwasaki and Hirotaka Maeda being the central figures of the company. However, their bodies of work can be traced back to 2007, with Hirotaka Maeda illustrating the Vitamin X series, and Daisuke Iwasaki writing lyrics for the OP and ED songs of Dear My Sun ~Musuko Ikusei Capriccio~.
Games:
The company’s first game was Lucien Bee’s: Resurrection Supernova, a game about forcing the unique-looking love interests of different cultures to conform to Japan’s beauty standards. They cut the Arabaic character’s afro and straightened it, and to this day, I’m still pissed-off about it. The first fandisk, Justice Yellow, has the 17 year old MC dating a few love interests twice her age (17 and 34, wtf). The second fandisk, Evil Violet, not only has 3 love interests who are either too young or old for the MC, but they’re also the villans…at least the MC is a villan here…I think…I hope.
Rejet helped publish Red Entertainment’s game Scared Rider XechS, which, while it has a good, sometimes confusing, story, it unfortunately has the love interest in their 20’s end up in a romance with the 17 year old MC, and said MC, despite the other love interests being 16-18, is their superior who they don’t actually respect and one of them refers to her as ‘teacher’…
Rejet’s second game series is the Renai Banchou (Love Gangster) Series. Consisting of the first one with a long title, and the second one subtitled Midnight Lesson. This game series not only features a few teen x adult romances, but most of the characters look suspiciously similar to their voice actors…and I don’t know whether to think this is clever or creepy.
Rejet’s third game series, and the first one to become popular and have the most games, is the Tokyo Yamanote Boys, which is about a love tournament where the MC is to date a group of guys and choose one of them as her ultimate “Prince.” This seems like a comedy (and unfortunately one of the LIs stalking the MC is treated as hilarious), but it actually has a darker plot shift…which I can kind of respect since it’s treated as a bad thing and sort of criticizes the love tournament plot…Emphasis on ‘sort of’ because the MC and love interest end up getting married with only less than a week of knowing each other. The good news is that all of the love interests are around 16-18 and the MC is 17…unfortunately, the romance ends up feeling a tad rushed because of the few days they got to know each other, and one of the love interests stalks the MC to “protect” her. Another love interest only in the fan disk is also a serial killer. Rejet, you had one job to make The Bachelor/The Bachelorette in otome game form and you failed.
Rejet’s fourth game is Gekka Ryouran Romance, and the only good route is the Yuri route. The game is supposed to be a ‘forbidden romance’, which consist of being in a relationship with two bothers at the same time, a school nurse dating a student, a 14 year old in a relationship with a 17 year old, and incest…and Rejet wants to say the wlw route is just as forbidden as the other routes…
Rejet’s fifth game is Beyond the Future -Fix the Time Arrows-, and it’s your typical adventure fantasy game, but it’s thankfully not too dark. The only routes that matter are Kirito and Camus. The MC’s design is also cute. I don’t have much to say honestly. If 5/7 routes weren’t teen x adult parings, this would be a pretty descent game.
Rejet’s sixth game is Black Wolves Saga, which is a fantasy series that’s like Game of Thrones, but with animals and humans. All of the relationships suck, even the seemingly normal or descent ones. It shouldn’t have been romance oriented because the story conflicts so much with the plot. This is also the second time Rejet has this ‘torturing the MC’ thing going on, and it’s getting a bit concerning.
Rejet’s seventh game is Dot Kereshi -We’re 8bit Lovers-, a parody of JRPGs where the MC is isekai’d into the game she hasn’t played in a while. I like the idea of this, but I’m a little weary it won’t actually be a parody and just play said tropes straight with a few comedic bits here and there. It does have the NPC character be a yandere which is…a choice.
Rejet’s eighth game is Ken ga Kimi (Name of the Sword) which I’ve heard good things about, and none of the characters, at least to my knowledge aren’t based on real people. I haven’t gotten into it, but the main dude actually looks like he’d have a cute romance considering he’s a chill foodie. (Please don’t be another BWS, PLEASE don’t be another BWS!)
Rejet’s ninth game is -8 (Minus Eight), a game where the MC has to fall in love or else the school she just transferred to will shut down…That’s fucking HILARIOUS! And the MC is just as funny as the love interests? SIGN ME UP! …Unfortunately, despite it’s fun premise, the actual routes use the same writing template and plot…an there are 8 of them…It’s a bit disappointing honestly.
Rejet’s tenth game is Moshikami (If God Were to Exist in this World) and no, I’m not typing out it’s long-ass title. This is probably on the top of the list of ‘torturing the MC’ Rejet has done. The MC is constantly bullied by other girls and assaulted by guys not within her friend group, was raped by her brother’s best friend from high school at a young age, said friend was killed by her brother, the brother then proceeds to victim-blame his little sister for ‘tempting’ his friend and then proceeds to rape her, leading the MC to pray to Amaterasu to become a guy, but then want to still look like a girl because she fears her brother wouldn’t recognize her (the trauma of being raped caused her to forget that incident) so she identifies as androgynous instead…Wow, Rejet, that’s a lot of bullshit to have your MC present as androgynous and not just let her…be that because she wants to. There’s only three routes that matter (Shuri, my boy), and the brother is possibly the worst DID representation I’ve seen in an otome game. I thought Natsuki from Utapri and Ukyo from Amnesia were bad, but clearly I was wrong.
Rejet’s eleventh and “final” game is Usotsuki Shangri-La (Liar Moon Shangri-La) and it’s Rejet’s more tame games (thank GOD). Like the title suggests, this is based on Norse Mythology, and the true end is probably the most well-written romance Rejet’s done. They even had the MC and true boy meet as children instead of the guy being an adult, WHAT A CONCEPT! Unfortunately, this makes the other routes feel pointless, which is a shame since I thought Hati was cute and the Brothers of Calamity’s story was interesting. It’s not much, but after Moshikami, I’ll happily take this.
Drama CDs:
2011-2012:
Diabolik Lovers: Well well, if it isn’t the first appearance of the ‘torturing the MC’ saga. DL actually has a descent idea; a darker and steamier look at romance featuring vampires. This could work…if it weren’t for the fact that Yui/ the character in the CDs doesn’t consent to ANY OF IT! Sure the people who actively bought the CDs and games consent to it, but not Yui! It would’ve been great if Yui was into S&M from the beginning and wanted to be bitten. I also don’t like how Rejet and the fandom use S&M as an excuse for the way the guys treat Yui/the listener. Consent is sexy, Rejet, fuckin’ UTILIZE IT!
Tiny X Machinegun: This was a collaboration between Rejet and IM BULLET, a sub-brand of IM who makes the Are You Alice? series. If the main cast weren’t NYC police, I would’ve liked it. The CDs don’t have any romance, which makes since considering the MC is 15 and most of the cast are in their 20s-30s…Wait, what do you mean Rejet made this an otome game with romance? REJET, YOU HAD ONE JOB!
Shinsengumi Wasurenagusa: It features real historical figures as the love interests and makes them boring. And there’s sex scenes…Moving on…
2013:
Seventh Heaven: Oh boy…So, this series has a suicidal MC who comes across the mansion, which consists of seven shinigami butlers called Seventh Heaven, who will comfort her until they kill her with their singing on a full moon. Basically, suicidal ideation, the musical. Would’ve been better if the MC was already dead and the shinigami serve and comfort her until they send her soul off to heaven. There Rejet, I wrote a batter tragic romance for you, where’s my paycheck?
ALICE=ALICE: Alice in Wonderland…but with vore play…except not really because it’s just biting and licking. One of them is Another version of the MC and somehow her twin in the game…Twincest, my favorite/s.
BAD MEDICINE: Sadistic teacher x student romance…The op’s a banger.
VANQUISH BROTHERS: The MC is in an arranged marriage…go on…and the love interests, whom consist of six brothers, must have sex with the MC in order to get their dead father’s inheritance…and you lost me…The love interests are also 15-18 in high school…Underage sex too?!
2014:
LIP ON MY PRINCE: The MC is in a relationship with 6 different prince-like boys from six different schools depending on the CD…that’s it..So Rejet can write a cute romance, but I guess they couldn’t keep their search history out of the writer’s room.
Oz to Himitsu no Ai (Oz: Affair of Six Keys): The Wizard of Oz but with sexism and misogyny…why? However, the short stories about the LIs during their time at the orphanage and and the 7th CD featuring all of the LIs made me cry…They were actually well written…REJET, WHERE DID THIS QUALITY WRITING COME FROM?! They also criticize the MC being groomed and raped by an authority figure and have a brother character who doesn’t have romantic feelings for the MC?! REJET, WHY CAN’T YOU PUT THIS EFFORT INTO THE MAIN SIX CDS?! MC is the best part if this series.
Soubou Sangokushi (Hope of the Three Kingdoms): Basically a slightly more hornier version of Romance of the Three Kingdoms. The art and op are nice, but I’m not too invested.
Taisho Idol Romance Empire Star: The MC becomes the manager of 5 (later 6) stage performers during the Taisho period. The only one I’m interested in is the childhood friend. I wish all of them had theater-kid energy.
Ookami Kunchi -Wolves Brothers Home-: Based on Little Red Riding Hood where the country-bumpkin MC moves to Ikebukuro, where she moves into a mansion with 6 brothers, who turn out to to be in a compensated dating service to pay for their parents’ One Million yen. Wish they were actually Werewolves and if the forced dating service was more deconstructed. I do find it funny how the youngest brother is literally just a slightly more mature Kanato, right down to the stuffed animal and being voiced by Yuki Kaji.
Criminale!: The MC is a part of the mafia with 6 childhood friends as her bodyguards. Her father dies so they protect her while trying to figure out who murdered he dad. Would’ve liked this better if they were just a group helping the MC a la Bustafellows instead of a mafia.
SACRIFICE: The MC receives 6 letters from her childhood friends and a mysterious person, all proclaiming their love for her and ask her to join the mystical world of SACRIFICE. Once she’s sent their via butler riding a carriage, she learns that she can’t physically touch her long-time friends and must become a part of this strange world to be with them. The twist is that all of them, including the butler, are all dead and this world is basically a cult where they can escape from reality. Brilliant concept, and while it’s explored a little, there’s very little you can do with such a concept in an hour long CD. The butler is also the MCs brother who named himself after her dead cat, Calmera, and I guess he created the cult? He’s the last CD and it was too open-ended, leaving some plot threads unresolved. Would’ve been better as a game.
Tsukiyasha Mysterious Vampires of the Meiji Era: Blood-sucking yasha in the Meiji Era. The MCs blood is important for the survival of the yasha. Has nice artwork and winter aesthetic, the OPs a friggin banger and the last love interest is a himbo voiced by Mozu from Bustafellows…Too bad he’s not in the sequel. Not DL levels of blood-sucking (except for the policeman LI because of course) but it’s still…there…
HAPPY SUGAR DARLIN’: The MC works at a Italian-themed sweets cafe with 5 guys who attend a performing arts school. There’s a bear mascot who turns out to be the MCs brother. He has no romantic interest in his sister, thank GOD! The romance is so cute that people were wondering if it was really a Rejet IP lol.
2015:
Zenryoku Shounen Tachi no O-uta and Toriai: MC’s in a performing arts school and meets 6 guys living their lives. Separated into two characters rather than one and features banger songs. I honestly just imagine this series as a mlm CD instead lol.
Lacrimosa -The Seven Sins-: The MC is the daughter of a powerful and well-beloved king of a Latin-based kingdom. The MC follows a blue bird into a small and hidden palace. As the MC enters the palace, she unknowingly breaks the seal keeping seven of the king’s knights held hostage, each of them representing the seven deadly sins. The king’s horrendous secrets are exposed, leading the MC to view her father differently. Neat premise with the theme of a tragic romance, but I’m not sure how well executed it is.
LOVE DON QUIOTE: MC enters a new school where romance is forbidden. The theme of this CD is kabedon, where the LIs push the MC against the wall in an intimidatingly steamy way. OP’s catchy…but overall meh.
Yugen Romantica: MC’s in a school where she discovers that a few students are actually the rumored seven wonders (ayakashi) of her school. Hikaru Midorikawa plays Hanako, the toilet ghost, who is flamboyant and fancy as fuck. Yeah, that’s all I got.
Mignight Jinagshis: Blood-sucking CD but with the Chinese Jiang shis, which, to my understanding, are damned souls in the form of zombies who take souls of the living. Most recent adaptations depict them as blood-suckers, so you can see where this is going. But, this is actually my favorite of the blood-sucking CDs because you can tell the writers and VAs were having fun, ESPECIALLY Shinnosuke Tachibana. He made the yandere character actually fun to listen to because he was just so over-the-top hammy! The second series had the new LI want revenge on one of the idol Jiangshi because he was supposed to debut with his idol group, but the other idol dude gave him ice cream that caused him a stomachache, leaving the new LI not able to perform and debut as an idol. Rejet should be funny more often, because this is great!
Dear Vocalist: A music series where the MC’s in a relationship with the lead singers of different bands working under the same company. Some of them have a nice romance, others…not so much…It really depends how well the writing is I guess.
Paradise O’ Whisper: MC is a new student at a music school and is greeted to God 6, a group of popular students with rumors surrounding them. One of them apparently can get someone pregnant just by looking at them lol. Funnily enough, that guy is actually the best one out of the others. He does the bare minimum, but this is Rejet, they should’ve done the bare minimum since the beginning. The others…treat the MC like garbage. The greatest thing that happened in this series is the MC slaps one of the guys after he tells her his sob story. Justice for MC!
Honey Liar!?: MC is a school student and is somehow in a forced relationship with the student council. The theme with this CD is that each of them have a completely different personality underneath their exterior, which could be fun, but the personality switch was so jarring that it felt like two completely different characters. The one with the paper bag on his head is a misogynist…
Occultic Lovers: There’s a secret society in a high school that fights spirits…Okay. Like the aesthetic, and it’s a bit more plot heavy, but it’s not my thing. There doesn’t deem to be a creepy love interest, so that’s good.
2016:
Kuro Yoshiwara Melancholia: The MC is a mermaid being persuaded by the LIs who want to use her scales for ulterior motives. One of the LIs is a cat boy and the MC being a mermaid is the only thing I find interesting about this series. The music’s pretty neat though.
FRESH KISS 100%: A Happy Sugar knock-off but with a soda theme and a cute penguin mascot instead. Relatively harmless, and focuses more on the idol aspect, but it’s only cute fluff and not doing anything bad.
G-Goku Spa: Possibly the most interesting premise yet, the MC is the daughter of the underworld ruler (yomi specifically) and is checking the onsen that demons are forced to work in for all of eternity to know it’s secrets. An onsen in hell?! Okay, that’s actually interesting. I believe it has 2 disks in each CD, so they’re able to do a bit more with the premise than they usually do.
Yotogi HoLiC: The MC has trouble sleeping, so she is sent to the Yotogi household, which consists of sextuplets who’s job is to help their hosts fall asleep. I heard that it actually helps the listener fall asleep, so Rejet did actually manage to do their job correctly this time! Good job Rejet, you get a ‘you tried’ sticker!
Forbidden Star: A music series featuring different idol groups. They apparently have an ‘edge’ them them, but to me, they just look like gay theater-kids lol.
CHU LDK: The MC recently moves to a share house with 6 other guys. Seems like it could be a cozy experience, but the MC’s in high school, 2 of them are in college, and one of them is a science teacher. Rejet, you lost the right to that ‘you tried’ sticker, give it back.
Cia Voice: An ASMR CD where the MC is taken to a relaxation spa. I like Ryouhei Kimura’s character, Iris’, design the most, but that’s about it. It looks fine for what it is.
Issei Fubi: The MC is of higher class and has a male harem of concubines. Considering how concubines were treated back then, I don’t think making them guys is the 'take that’ Rejet thinks it is.
Prince of Grimm: Grimm fairy tales reinterpreted by the MC as she’s in a coma recollecting her memories. Red Riding Hood’s a better version of Ayato, but the rest range from neat, meh, and OH MY GOD HE MURDERED HIS ENTIRE FAMILY?!
Taisho Kuro Kazoku: The ill MC is friends with discriminated beasts (humans with animal ears) and it’s supposed to be a sad romance. Would’ve worked better as regular racism story. If humans are involved and the discriminated class only have animal ears, just make them people of color. But, I do find it funny how the one with rabbit ears is essentially a less unhinged version of Azusa, right down to the shy personality, bandages, sad past, is a masochist, and is voiced by Daisuke Kishio.
THANATOS NiGHT: Same premise as Seventh Heaven, but it’s fallen angels going to high school instead of a mansion full of shinigami butlers. The aesthetic is cool and the songs are good, and Nia is a better written version of Laito, but the romance is…not good.
2017:
Shuukyoku no DOLLS (The Ultimate DOLLS): The MC is convinced to go to a new puppet show with rumored life-sized dolls that come to life. The leader of the show and creator of the dolls, Bellemere, has the MC come on stage and have her pick out a doll for her to keep. The twist is that said dolls are to slowly turn the MC into a doll so that her body can be used as a vessel for Bellemere’s dead wife’s soul. Cool premise, AMAZING artwork and aesthetic, but only one of the dolls is somewhat likeable. The backstories for the characters are somewhat interesting.
Corpse Heart: A musical that takes place in a monster school in London. The MC, a witch, is the only one with a beating heart, and the upcoming Easter Festival revolves around the students searching for the Jewel Heart, and whoever posses it gets their wish granted. Obviously the MC contains the Jewel Heart, and the plot becomes more confusing as it goes on. One of them turns out to be the MCs father…which makes ZERO sense because he’s not only one of the younger characters and it has nothing to do with him wanting to become an idol, but you’re telling me this guy killed the other LI’s whole family and is somehow the principal of the school?! This twist isn’t even mentioned in the other CDs! The last one’s with her 'twin’, so expect insect, but PLOT TWIST, she’s actually a homunculus with her memories scrambled up by said 'twin’, and he’s been keeping the Jewel Heart in multiple clones so the Easter Festival can go on each year. Dude, WHAT’S YOUR END GOAL?! 0/10, Worst Monster High reboot.
2018:
Princess of Luciole: The MC finds herself in an old mansion. Said mansion is apparently a pocket demension where 1800’s French servants of a princess born of inbreeding thinks the MC is said princess, and they believe she has lost her memories. Honestly, this is the best horror story Rejet has done so far. The princess they serve is apparently cruel, sadistic, and evil, which leads them developing a twisted love for their princess and it’s written that way too. The MC has zero recollection of these events, making the audience even more horrified. I’d give more praise to this series, but…the plot twist ruins everything the CD built it’s plot on.
The twist is that the MC is actually from the 1500s rather than modern times. The prince from the 1500s, who’s the last love interest, Dr. Thriller, loved the MC, who was a servant, and I guess he’s some kind of time traveler and can see the future, I think, so he intended to put the MC into his future generation’s role as princess so she can become just as messed up as he is. But I guess something happened along the way and she ended up in modern times without any memories. So her coming across the manor was on purpose, and while she’s slowly losing her mind, Dr. Thriller dons said name and pretends to be the prison warden to keep an eye on her. The craziest part of this is that IT WORKS! Not only that, but they end up in a romantic relationship and kill everyone in the manor. REJET, YOU HAD ONE JOB TO DO ACTUALLY GOOD HORROR AND YOU FAILED! HOW DID YOU FAIL SO SPECTACULARLY?!
Tokyo Cemetery: The MC works as a police officer trying to solve a case of a mass murder. She also suspects her 6 partners since one of them might be the killer. Basically if Collar X Malice was written by Rejet and had another banger theme song.
C'mon Fellows!: A music series about fictional YouTubers. It apparently has a deeper plot, but meh. It’s probably descent.
Others:
MARGINAL#4: A music series that was supposed to only be mascots for Rejet’s 2013 concert, but they became popular enough to warrant their own game and anime. The game’s bad because the MC’s an adult manager who looks after 4 teenage idols and falls in love with them. Ew. I heard the anime was actually wholesome and good. There is some implied  twincest going on with the twins in media outside of their music…Rejet STOP!
ZEPHYR: A short animation in collaboration with Studio Satelight. I’ve never watched it because it doesn’t even have subtitles, but the theme song for it is pretty good. Takes place in a sci-fi setting focusing on a band.
Dance with Devils: A 12 episode musical anime animated by Brain’s Base with music by Elements Garden of Uta no Prince-Sama fame. The story’s about Ritsuka Tachibana, an ordinary girl who gets caught up in a battle between demons and vampires. She holds the Forbidden Grimoire inside of her, which whoever wields it can control the world. Despite my grievances with the incest, Lindo’s character in general, and the romance not being that good,  I still came out of this anime liking it. It’s saved by Ritsuka’s character and the ending. Some people are upset that Ristsuka doesn’t get to stay in the demon realm with her dude, but it makes more sense character-wise for Ristuka to want to stay in the human realm.
AND I’M DONE! Holy shit, this was longer than expected. Thanks Rejet for the content/s.

My favorite romcom manga just got an anime announced!!
It's about a dude who gets told by God "I fucked up bro. You are 100 different women's soulmate, and if you and your soulmate don't get together you both die of heartbreak, so you're boned, my bad"
And dude is like "I'll simply love all of them"
It's a parody of harem romances, it's super wholesome, all the women are interesting characters with lives outside the romance, and there's EVERY kind of het ship you could want (plus a little yuri as a treat)
You want tsundere? We got plenty of em to go around
You want old lady age-reversed into loli? Right over here sir
Mommy gf? Oh yeah we have like 3 of those
Masochist athlete? Mad scientist? WWII veteran? 6 foot tall muscular farmer girl who is a cinnamon roll? Teacher who is obsessed with American culture and dresses like a cowboy? Drunk and depressed 20-something who lives in a tent behind the school?
Think of a type of woman and this story has it, and they're all dating the same 16-year-old dude and he becomes literally superhuman in pursuit of the necessary skills and power to make all of them happy
Title is "The 100 Girlfriends Who Really Really Really Really Really Love You"
sounds amazing i love it

amber do you have any tips on how to start dressing more gnc? not exaclty where to find clothes but like composition/how to feel confident in my looks bc im always afraid of looking like a 12yo boy 😭 i was going through your blog and saw that ask about boa/yuri/seulgi and i feel like a combination of their wardrobes would be my dream lol also random but yuri added a new layer to bi casual that's p.e. teacher, she now has this sling bag she takes everywhere and imo makes her overall look gayer
hello! i'm guessing ur a baby gay, congrats on trying to gender present differently it's a rly cool experience and it'll bring u a lot of joy! any amount of gnc presentation automatically makes u sexier too so congrats!
i think what you're going for is a mix of street wear and artsy casual and both of those can be as androgynous as u want it to be! for composition it rly depends on ur body type and idols r all skinny so if u r similar to them u can copy the way they layer and arrange clothes but i personally can't. could never wear pants as wide legged as seulgi and boa wear lol.
the key is loose fit clothing for a boxy/rectangular silhouette but don't get clothes that are too oversized. i have a chest and hips so i tend to do fitted pants that taper (not wide leg) but have some room at the waist to not emphasize my hips. i have p broad shoulders so i wear loose shirts that emphasize that and aren't too tight at the chest. outerwear is so important!!! a leather or denim jacket is such an important wardrobe staple for every gay person.
in general seulgi has cute artsy boyish looks that u can emulate with a wider legged jean with a quirky design, unusual and colorful sneakers, and fun hoodies and graphic tees. boa does like dancer look or dad look. lot of beanies, oversized t-shirts and sweatpants or flannels and glasses and t-shirts tucked into belted jeans. yuri's bi casual looks tend to be short button up shirts, sometimes over t-shirts (with the sleeves rolled up). also baseball caps and crew neck sweatshirts.
it's ultimately rly about how u wear it tho!! try wearing the classic white tshirt + jeans + jacket look and see if it feels more feminine or more masculine on u, and see what adjustments u can make to ur posture and hair and the way u carry urself to get the presentation u want. try putting ur hands in ur pockets in a masculine way, my gf calls it the transmasc stance lol and i keep noticing every time i do it now. try wearing outfits but sitting or standing in diff ways, slouching a little more (but take care of ur spine health) or sitting with ur legs wider and leaning back or leaning forward with ur elbows on ur knees. jewelry is also v gendered!! buy some thicker rings or more masculine chains/necklaces u can layer. a nice watch does a lot too. maybe 4 years ago i was rly self conscious about gender presentation and being read as masc but now my gf says it's easy to see that i'm butch because of the way i carry myself and i don't even think about it. i slowly developed the mannerisms and posture that make my clothes look and feel more butch. even when i first started wearing men's clothes for the purpose of being gay i realized that my own masc energy makes women's jewelry look more masculine when i'm wearing it and it was a rly affirming moment for me.
bonus: i consulted my gf and the simple way to not look like a 12 year old boy is to not dress like a 12 year old boy. don't be afraid to mix things that are a little bit more formal into your new wardrobe, it'll make you feel more confident in gender presentation. i just got a nice pair of dressy men's shoes (i got derby style docs) for the first time and i wear them with calf length dress socks and semi-formal pants to concerts and artsy events and it feels rly good! i need a good blazer now, i only have very casual outerwear.

Lesbian Anime Review #7 - Aoi Hana ~ Sweet Blue Flowers
Takako never lets me down.
Tumblr media
This is my second attempt at writing this review after I accidentally deleted my draft. It's also the most difficult review I've written so far because I have a lot of feelings about this anime. It's good, but I don't think it's perfect. There are a few things that influence my opinions about Aoi Hana and I'll explain as I go, but to start with I did want to make clear that I haven't read the manga for this yet. I've started collecting the volumes and I'll be getting around to it, but I haven't read it at the time of writing this review. I understand that the manga is generally more well-received than the anime, so I'm looking forward to it.
This anime is about high school girls who were friends as kids but have been separated for years when one of them moved away. Akira Okudaira (left) is positive and headstrong and Fumi Manjoume (right) is more reserved and quick to cry. They're reunited when they start high school and they learn that they go to different schools but they get the same train. But this anime isn't really about these two developing a romantic connection, it's more about Fumi and her character development. I have to assume that something more happens between these two in the manga, but I don't know.
So like I said, this anime is about Fumi and her development. Right out the gates she's gay. Fumi is introduced with the information that she has a crush her cousin, but her cousin is marrying some guy and she's pretty cut up about it. I don't know how that kind of thing is perceived in Japan, but it's legal so make of it what you will. Either way, she has to get over it. Thankfully for her, she's going to lesbian high school where everyone is gay.
Fumi ends up in a relationship with the cool girl at school, Yasuko Sugimoto. She's on the basketball team, she's got the whole "girls school prince" thing going on complete with a legion of fans. About a year back, she changed schools from Akira's school to Fumi's, but the drama club from her old school still gets her to play roles in their performances, which is the backdrop for the whole season. Yasuko is playing Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights, which I guess is some kind of yuri anime trope? I've started Yuri Kuma Arashi recently and it's all over that. Regardless, Yasuko already has popularity, and her involvement in the play only makes that more visible, so Fumi has to process how she feels about her new gf getting attention from every girl in two schools. She doesn't seem to like it! Akira is there to be Fumi's ally throughout though and she's great.
That's everything I'll say about the plot without going into spoilers. If you want to stop there, I'll say that I like this anime and I think it's worth a look if you enjoy yuri stuff. It's not just yuri bait, so if you can deal with the high school melodrama you might like it.
Spoilers to follow after these images of Kashima from Gekkan-Shoujo Nozaki-kun.

Second season of that show please.
Fumi's development is really shown in contrast to Yasuko, who has gone through a similar experience to Fumi with unrequited love. She has feelings for a teacher from her old school who is going to be marrying one of her sisters and she hasn't gotten over it, which is what causes the real tension between herself and Fumi. I liked the scene where Fumi meets Yasuko's family. She lives with her three sisters and her mother and they're so fun. These women love to shit talk each other and Yasuko can't keep up with the banter. When she introduces Fumi as her girlfriend, one sister says "oh so you're a lesbian? Sorry, I guess you're bisexual" and I have to give them credit for both actually saying the L word and generally for having any discussion of sexuality in an anime. You'd think it would come up more often within the kinds of shows I've been watching, but they love to not talk about it.
Anyway, so Fumi and Yasuko talk about the teacher thing and Yasuko breaks up with Fumi because she's been acting badly and feels like she can't be a good gf to Fumi while she's still processing her feelings for the teacher guy. Later she tries to reestablish the relationship but Fumi rejects her, saying that she's already over it. I thought their relationship was an effective way to show Fumi's growth; she had managed to get over her feelings for her cousin and move on with this new relationship, but when she saw that Yasuko was dealing with similar feelings but was unable to move on, she could see the difference in maturity between the two of them. I love that for her.
The show wraps up at the end of this relationship arc with Fumi remembering that Akira was really her first love and she seems really happy to have reconnected. I can only assume that they pursue that further in the manga, but the anime ends at episode 11. Unlike the ending to other adaptions I've watched, this didn't leave me feeling like the story was incomplete. Obviously there's more to tell, but the story of Fumi's first real relationship started and finished and I thought it was pretty satisfying. I might come back to this when I finish the manga, but without knowing what's missing, I'm not disappointed.
There are some parts of this anime that I didn't love, but it might just be a me thing. Lately I've been reading some of the work of Takako Shimura, the mangaka behind Aoi Hana. Her latest work, Even Though We're Adults, is a gay romance between two 35-year-old women that deals with issues in a way that feels a lot more grown up than the themes of Aoi Hana. I get that a big part of that is that the characters in this anime are teenagers, but part of me knew while I was watching this show that this woman can write better characters than these. I don't think Aoi Hana does a bad job at characterising necessarily, I think I'm just fatigued with high school characters. It's appropriate for stories like these to be about immature people learning how to navigate situations and not always getting it right, but I just want them to talk it out sometimes. Like I said, it's a me problem, but it's my review so what did you expect?
I almost forgot to talk about this but I liked the animation in this show a lot. JC Staff did a great job with this one. I think the opening theme is animated really beautifully, I never got tired of looking at it. The show is from 2009, which I guess was a magical year for good anime. Honestly I'm not sure what else to say about it but it would have been wrong of me not to mention it.
I want to close this out with some final thoughts but it's not easy to sum up how I feel about Aoi Hana. It was a well-animated show about gay characters, but it somehow felt a bit unrealistic, especially contracted to Takako's newer work. I'm accustomed to her characters feeling like they could be real people, which I still think this achieves, but in this show I struggle to get over this feeling of unreality. I can't accept at face value that there are these two girls schools where so many people are gay and no one is weird about it. Fumi has this moment where she comes out to Akira and feels awkward because she's worried she'll think it's gross, but I don't know who gave her that impression because everyone seems pretty gay here to me. It's that contrast between these realistic characters like Fumi who has anxiety over being out as a lesbian to her best friend and has to deal with being in a relationship with someone who is older than her but emotionally younger, but she's in this idyllic world where no one seems to have any issue with gay relationships and a huge amount of the student body appear to be openly gay. One of the schools has nuns and yet no one is homophobic. It just feels a bit off to me.
In summary, this is a high quality show about good characters in gay relationships, but the relationship issues faced by the characters don't seem to be related to their queerness at all. This is fine really, but I prefer it when a show is in conversation with its own LGBT subject matter and while this one acknowledges it more clearly than most anime do, I think there's still room to grow.
I'm not writing a pros/cons list for this show but I'm not above assigning a number value to shows yet, so I'm giving this one an 8/10.
