What the companions would make you if they had access to a kitchen:
Cait
I'm thinking a nice stir-fry or rice with a shit ton of vegetables and PROTEIN
Of course she loves her protein
Hmm or maybe a lasagna. Nice and dense.
Whatever she makes, there'll be enough of it to go around
She gives off food insecurity to me so I feel like she prefers to take her food and eat alone most days
But you WILL have a shitton of leftovers!
Codsworth
A nice breakfast spread like what you'd see in movies.
French toast, eggs (sunny side up or your preference if he knows it), bacon, several options of cereal in those little fancy cereal dispensers, pancakes or waffles depending on your preference, fresh fruit laid out...
And of course a glass of orange juice
He wants nothing more than for you (and anyone else you're sharing the meal with) to sit down and enjoy while he cleans the dishes and helps out
Just like old times <3
Curie
Baking time!!!!
Cookies are her go-to
Does that thing where you use your thumbprint to make a heart shape and fills it with jam
They come out perfect every time. She leaves them out on a plate and they're gone within a minute
Just be warned she might eat the cookie dough. Would definitely make edible cookie dough just to eat it raw at like 1am
Danse
He's a protein shake and plain hard boiled eggs type of guy
He wouldn't make you a meal, but would mealprep your entire week for you
(It's just plastic tupperware of boiled eggs and like, one whole carrot)
If he HAD to make an actual warm meal it'd probably look exactly like Brotherhood rations
Mashed potatos, plain crackers, and some vague meat in sauce
Deacon
This man lives like he will be killed via sniper if he ever expresses a genuine feeling
So as much as I'd like to say he'd make a meal that's really important to him, he'd probably just grab the nearest cookbook and pick a random recipe
Not even he knows what it's gonna be like until it's made
He also doesn't want to be associated with a certain meal so he'll only make it once or twice. If you want it again then YOU have to cook it!
If he's completely alone and just making something for himself, then maybe a nice sandwich or sub
I don't know why but he just gives off sandwich vibes
Dogmeat
Can't cook
He would, however, oversee the situation and taste test when needed
Gage
Grill dad
He'd make like, ribs and baked potatoes. Nice and filling and also pretty damn messy
Not too big on vegetable but he'd also grill like, corn on the cob or maybe some skewers
Chicken wings perhaps???
Maccready
Weird food combinations is this man's bread and butter (or bread and ketchup)
He WILL hand you a turkey sandwich with ketchup and potato chips in it. And it will taste good.
Or like, steak sushi. Spaghetti on pizza. Mayo dumplings?
He can make basically anything, but he just has some really weird preferences
If you can get over the strangeness it's actually pretty decent
Nick
Toast and black coffee <3
That's it
I mean like he'll make you tea or something if you don't like coffee
Pre-war Nick always had toast and coffee for breakfast in the morning so it's nostalgic to him
Old Longfellow
"Oh he'd make a fish based meal" NO. He lives next to the water he's probably SO DAMN TIRED OF FISH
Chicken noodle soup maybe, but like high quality chicken noodle soup with some nice spices
Or maybe a pot roast??
Piper
Weirdly enough, as much as she loves sweets I feel like she'd be a much better cook than a baker
She'd make a nice well rounded meal with protein, carbs, 1-2 vegetables. Gotta make sure Nat's eating well
Not huge on spices though. Like your mashed potatoes will be buttery and smooth as fuck but you're limited to like basic box gravy and maybe salt and pepper.
I feel like she can and will make an entire turky dinner. Just out of nowhere. There's like 7 different sides and an apple pie Curie made.
Preston
Oh this man will make a MEAN stew
It's his go-to. He can share it if needed, have leftovers to feed himself for multie days, and it's versatile
I'm thinking either radstag or brahmin meat, or maybe a bone stock, but in the past he's made stews out of basically anything, from bugs to deathclaw meat
He also has a soft spot for campfires and would love to roast marshmallows or cook hotdogs or something around a fire
X6-88
Grabs an apple for himself and leaves.
The Institute eats SUPPLEMENT PACKETS there is NO WAY this man knows how to cook
He's probably a picky eater too, and he only likes those packets
He's gonna be living off a diet of applesauce and ensure for a long while
Honestly he might enjoy taking his food (any food) and putting it in a blender. It fixes the sensory aspect of it.

If Fallout 4 companions had TikTok accounts
Cait would have an account dedicated to fighting and thirst traps (aimed at women mostly). Teaches women self-defense techniques. She earns a spot in the algorithm of muscle mommies. She also raises awareness for addicts and former addicts, educating on the effects of drugs and the reasons people seek them out in the first place. Honestly, it's a very good account to follow.
Codsworth is just confused about TikTok. He's like "oh so what are the children saying these days? Aura? I'll have to add a new word to my vocabulary banks! Cheerio, mum!"
Curie makes educational videos for all ages and all subjects. She has a series of learning Japanese, a series of vaccines and the science behind them, a series about the effects of different types of parenting, you name it. She also takes suggestions from her audience on what new things to research.
Danse has unintentional thirst traps. He talks about power armor and the Brotherhood of Steel but also posts workouts. These are what get the most attention out of everything he posts. The BookTok girlies find him and all hell breaks loose in the comment sections. He responds to this with, "Thank you, civilians. I am not sure what you mean, but I am glad you are supporting the Brotherhood of Steel by being on my page. Thank you for your enthusiasm for our righteous cause. Ad victorium." People armchair diagnose him as autistic.
Deacon does "GRWM as i tell you about the time i ______" videos where each day he looks completely different and you can never tell if he's telling the truth or not. He also does head shaving videos that double as story times or opinion pieces. You can't tell if those are true or not either.
Dogmeat has a viral account followed by millions. Get's a lot of "I can't imagine liking this guy" comments with the op replying to their own comment with "anymore than I already do. Huge fan!"
Hancock does subtle cheeky thirst traps and dance challenges. This entire post was inspired by the FACT that Hancock would participate in the brat summer trend and would do the Apple dance with Fahrenheit filming it. He also tells stories, mostly of him being high. He gets a lot of requests to cosplay Deadpool.
MacCready has a lot of things he does. Some videos are sniper trick shots, some are Grognak the Barbarian yapping (he does short lore deep dives when he can), and some are about being a young single dad. He doesn't show Duncan's face because he's extremely protective. Casually drops the most insane lore about his childhood which leads to comments like "are we just ignoring that he said he grew up in a cave?"
Nick Valentine would be a very popular fashion and "a day in the life of a detective". He'd do vintage fashion looks, like loose slacks and suspenders with a trench coat to top it off. Sometimes does a deep dive into detective history. Gets a lot of thirsty comments to which he replies "that's one way to get the coolant pumping."
Old Longfellow has the appeal of the New England, stormy weather, sweater-wearing fisherman aesthetic, and he tells stories of his youth while showing people around the area he grew up. Learns mobile phone cinematography to make it look cooler. Every video has either a lesson or a skill for survival.
Piper's account is solely focused on news and truth, posting every source she uses. She uses the trend of an insane video, like someone falling badly on the ground or getting splashed with water, and stitches it to look like a seamless transition of her rolling from the fall or being splashed to start talking about her news stories. It gets traction so she continues.
Porter Gage has a side gig of running TikTok accounts for different people. Gets the money, doesn't get the backlash when they get canceled for racism or worker exploitation.
Preston has an account dedicated to charity work and social activism. He makes sure to highlight organizations he feels are doing the world a service and regularly has fundraisers. He's well-known for always sharing content from people in dire situations and raising money for them. Has a master document of Go Fund Me pages and vets every one of them.
Strong has a lot of those unintentional boomer tiktoks that are 1 second long and he's just looking at the screen in confusion.
X6 cyber bullies the rest of them because he thinks having a TikTok is cringe and stupid (he is currently writing hate comments with his TikTok account)

Twenty One Pilots just dropped this absolute masterpiece of a music video for Paladin Strait and I am having so many thoughts.
The (literal) Neon Gravestones? The zombies as a representation of what we've become? (They're controlling you, those thoughts that rule over this depression city, and now this is all you'll ever be—a body seized by Them)
Torchbearer and the Banditos acting as a distraction for Clancy to face the Bishops (his demons, the dark parts of his thoughts) only for everything to end when Blurryface enters the picture (so few, so proud, so...emotional)?
I don't know what I was expecting with that ending. I don't know what color will Clancy's (Tyler's) eyes be when he opens them in that last frame. (Golden? Red?) I don't know if I want to know.
Clancy opened his eyes. Clancy opened his eyes to look straight at Blurryface when he was being grabbed by the neck (painted black—always black) in remembrance of the Jumpsuit music video. Did Blurryface take control? Is Clancy back to fighting himself? (In an album about cycles, about not knowing if you'll ever truly get better, about backsliding and pushing through and growing old with the same fears you had over ten years ago—this seems oddly fitting)
But that's not the message. You are better than you were ten years ago, if only because you're still here—still alive—and now you're able to snap your eyes open and stare your demons down (even if they're grabbing you by the neck).

Every Fallout 4 Companion’s Approximate Birth Year (Part 3/3)
CVRIE — 2076
I assume Miss Nannies went out of production when the world exploded.
Codsworth — 2077
His box is still in your house during the prologue.
He also mentions enjoying the “months” he’s spent with you, though he might mean since Shaun was born.
Nick — 2175
We know it was over a century ago, but it can’t have been too far prior to the Gen 3 rollout around 2227.
I think Nick is the older brother, because it makes sense to start by creating a synth with stored personalities before trying to make one that develops a personality autonomously.
Longfellow — 2223
This man is only in his SIXTIES, they are LYING TO YOU
The Children of Atom were full-fledged on the Island when Longfellow was young. Confessor Cromwell is the one who sent them to Maine.
But he couldn’t have become Confessor until the mid-2250s, because he’s only FORTY-FOUR in Fallout 3, and he had a background as a trader before that! AND there still had to be time for the Children to travel all the way to Maine.
So Longfellow was born in the twenties, had his sad backstory in the fifties, and is about 65 in Fallout 4.
Strong — 2230
Strong could have been anyone, but I think he was either a divorced dad who would’ve been an accountant in another life, or just Mayor McDonough.
Hancock — 2235
Is 53-year-old Hancock controversial? Let me cook.
There’s support for the theory that synth McDonough was created before the election in 2282. We can assume the human had full gray hair at that point, because synths don’t go gray. So he was probably in his fifties at least.
John was younger, but he can’t have been that much younger. So he was probably ghoulified in his late forties.
Deacon — 2245
If you accept the John D. theory, this does put him a little on the young side, but it fits.
Gage — 2251
There’s not much backstory from his teens up to 2286, and I’m tempted to believe it was a shorter period. But he has late-thirties eyes.
…Eye.
Cait — 2260
Her parents helpfully drew the line at child trafficking, so we have a good idea of her age. She was 18 when she went into slavery and about 23 when she left.
Some time later, she spent about three years at the Combat Zone. Assuming some buffer room between the two periods, I put her at 27 years.
Danse — 2261
He’d have lived in the Institute for awhile, then Rivet City, then the Brotherhood.
He was already a paladin in 2277, but Maxson says it took him “many years” to become one.
Preston — 2262
I don’t know what it is about him that screams 25-year-old to me.
He joined the Minutemen at 17, then had “a few good years” before 2282 when Becker died.
MacCready — 2264
He was twelve in August 2277, and at that point he’d been mayor for three years.
He became mayor at ten. So he’s got to be nearly thirteen at the start of Fallout 3, which would make him 23 in Fallout 4.
Piper — 2166
Nat seems 13 to me.
If Piper is old enough to have taken care of her as a baby, but not old enough to have significant memories of their mother, 21 sounds about wright.
Curie — 2277
Glory escaped the Institute in 2280, and she and G5 had known each other for some time before that.
Ada — 2281
Jackson seems to have created her reasonably recently.
Dogmeat IV — 2285
I think he is ouppy:)
X6-88 — 2287.
Yeah, I said it.
This man thinks he’s so evil but he’s an actual baby.
My reasoning is that he wishes he had been there to see the University Point massacre in 2286, but apparently wasn’t.
It makes the game so much funnier.
If he was born earlier in the year, he could have been trained in time for the Kellogg flashback.

The worst part too about the Paladin quests is it's Heavensward that's most egregious. It honestly feels like someone had no idea what was going on, or didn't care, or left, and their colleagues left holding the bag with this mess of a story had no idea what to do with it.
ARR Gladiator quests are fine! They're along the lines of the other Class quests, intro you to the job and a complicated character dynamic, and it's a decent time.
The ARR Paladin quests...are just boring. They aren't actually even that bad, they're just...utterly predictable, bog-standard tropes and plot line where you can see everything coming malms away. But they have an internal logic to them that builds on the politics and scheming in Ul'dah. Jenlyns realizes he's an unwitting pawn of the Syndicate, and he was literally chosen for the job cuz he could be easily duped and controlled. He doesn't even get to have imposter syndrome, he's actually unfit for the job (and then strives to do better, leveraging support from Papashan and Mylla to shore up his own weaknesses, which is admirable!).
...Nevermind that traditional Paladins in general are a bad fit for Ul'dah. The heavily armored Sultansworn makes no sense in that desert environment, and looking at a world map we can even see that Southern Thanalan seems to be on the equator. Like it's not even a case of "it's cooler than it seems cuz they're further north." Because they're not. And I know the devs wanted to have Ishgard perhaps be a starter city but that was scrapped due to time and resources, fine but um.
Dragoons are still trained in Coerthas, by Coerthans. Why didn't they just...do that with Paladins? Keep Gladiator in Ul'dah, where it makes sense as presented. But then have to work with Temple Knights to get the Job. Especially since after Ul'dah's intro, the game just forgets the Sultansworn exist and they have no bearing on the MSQ the way the other factions in Ul'dah do. Not even in the finale of ARR's arc where it would make sense. Gladiators are a constant in other side quests and MSQ both.
Stormblood Paladin is also fine--because it goes back to those Gladiators, and we interact with Paladins and Knights across the realm, and deal with those complicated relationships between the Gladiator guild core members. It's internally logical in its drama about finally restoring Aldis's reputation and place in Ul'dah, against the backdrop of the tournament.
Heavensward Paladin straight up makes no sense. Solkzaygl's actions are entirely contradictory to his character and arc from ARR. There's no way for some of the actions to occur without him working with the outlaws in some way. Instead of teaching Constaint, he sends him on a merry chase across Coerthas to learn on his own, and it's only the WoL's aid that sees the boy live, let alone make progress. A random man dies, guilt-ridden, due to Solk's scheming and lies he confided to this poor guy.
And then Highlander-esque "there can be only one" nonsense. Even as a Highlander fangirl in my youth, it was insulting and awful. Papashan, Jenlyns, and Constaint all call out how nonsense, illogical, unlikely, and stupid this whole story is...all to make a sword shine.
Because there's no internal logic to events, let alone the reason for the string of happenstance that leads to the finale.
And we know it's possible; HW Blacksmith gives us a fantastic paladin story! One that fits Ishgard's storyline and HW's themes. HW Dark Knight is also a good paladin story, actually, as they are meant to be another angle on the concept of dedicated knight defenders. Samurai for the Eastern equivalent, and the concepts and tropes present in those quest chains.
But the job actually bearing the name "Paladin" is left in the dirt. As a fan of the concept across various games (video and TTRPGs both), it's quite frustrating how the devs had no idea what to do with this job, despite other members of the writing and scenario team presenting stories that would have fit perfectly well within the framework. Only some of it is misplacing where Paladins originate in the setting; the rest is not taking advantage of the themes and setting of the expansions, and just not caring enough about the characters and story to even try, compared to the rest. Or worse, they did try, and meant for more, but whatever intrigue and complex plot they wanted to create was too much for 5 quests and no guarantee the arc would continue in the future, even if it had landed perfectly.

Hi could I get fallout 4 companions with a sole survivor that's really good at cooking/baking? Even though there's a lack of resources they're always able to make a tasty meal :)
FO4 Companions reacting to the Sole Survivor's cooking/baking skills:
Cait
Cait is initially skeptical, but she’s absolutely delighted when she tastes the Sole Survivor’s cooking.
She’ll tease you for being “too fancy” but can’t resist taking an extra serving of whatever’s on offer. Even with limited ingredients, she can sense the effort and love put into the dish.
Cait will often ask for something hearty, like a meat stew, and once she’s had a taste, she’ll go on about how it "hits the spot" after a long day of fighting.
Codsworth
Codsworth is always delighted when the Sole Survivor whips up something to eat, and he’ll politely offer his assistance, even if he’s not sure how to cook.
Whilst he can’t taste the food himself, he’ll always compliment the cooking, saying things like “It smells absolutely divine!” and offering praises for every dish.
Every meal becomes an opportunity for him to “fluff and polish,” ensuring the setting matches the quality of the food.
Curie
Curie is fascinated by cooking, always eager to learn new techniques, even if she sometimes gets things mixed up due to her scientific curiosity.
She loves the idea of making food “delicate” and “scientifically perfect,” so she’ll happily offer advice while watching you bake or cook.
Curie’s delighted with any dish, but if you make something with vegetables or fruits, she’ll be thrilled, claiming it’s “just like the old world” and perfect for a healthy life.
Paladin Danse
Paladin Danse is a bit of a meat-and-potatoes kind of guy, but he quickly learns to appreciate the Sole Survivor’s culinary prowess.
He’s always impressed that the Survivor can make something delicious out of practically nothing, but he’s especially fond of simple, hearty meals like roasted meat or stews.
Danse feels a little awkward about accepting the food at first, but once he digs in, he’s hooked. He’ll show his gratitude with a firm handshake and a grunt of approval.
Deacon
Deacon is totally into the fact that the Sole Survivor can create a good meal even when supplies are low. He’s all about resourcefulness and loves seeing the creative dishes that come out of seemingly nothing.
He’ll often make light-hearted jokes, suggesting you could sell your cooking as a new "underground recipe" in the Commonwealth.
Deacon’s definitely a fan of whatever is made with spices or anything that packs a punch—he loves the unexpected flavors.
Dogmeat
Dogmeat may not have a sophisticated palate, but the Sole Survivor’s cooking always makes him wag his tail and give an excited bark.
He particularly enjoys anything with meat in it, and even if it’s just a bit of leftover stew, he’ll happily share in the meal.
He’s a loyal taste tester and might nudge at your leg with a hopeful whine if he thinks there's any leftover scraps.
John Hancock
Hancock loves a hearty meal, and the Sole Survivor’s cooking quickly becomes one of his favorite parts of the day.
He’ll joke that “you’re the real hero of the Commonwealth” every time you serve him something tasty.
Sweet treats like pies and cookies have him absolutely hooked—he’s got a soft spot for anything that feels like a little piece of the past.
Robert MacCready
MacCready’s not exactly a food snob, but he’s very impressed when the Sole Survivor manages to create something edible out of the wasteland’s limited ingredients.
He’ll give a sarcastic comment at first, but after one bite, he’s all about the meal. He’s particularly fond of anything that’s spicy or has some heat to it.
He’ll often try to get you to make something “big and filling” since he’s always thinking about his next meal.
Nick Valentine
Nick is a man of simple tastes, but he definitely appreciates a well-cooked meal. He’s especially impressed when the Sole Survivor can bake something using barely any ingredients.
He’ll quietly savor each bite, complimenting you on your skill with a quiet, “You’ve got a real knack for this, kid.”
Nick loves anything with a bit of sweetness, like a nice pie or dessert, especially if it reminds him of the days before the war.
Piper Wright
Piper is overjoyed by the Sole Survivor’s cooking skills, and she’ll write about it in her journal, claiming that it’s “the best thing since sliced bread”—even if there’s no bread to be found.
She’s big on comfort food, so anything that’s hearty or filling is her go-to. She’ll always ask for seconds and enthusiastically praise your cooking.
She also loves to bake with you and will insist on trying her hand at recipes, even if they don’t always turn out quite as well as yours.
Preston Garvey
Preston is always grateful for a warm meal, especially when resources are tight. He’s definitely a fan of stews or dishes that have a good balance of protein and vegetables.
He’ll often tell you that “this kind of meal is just what we need to keep going.”
Preston might even offer to help cook, especially if it involves something he knows, like preparing simple meat dishes.
Strong
Strong, while mostly focused on his search for “milk of human kindness,” is deeply impressed when the Sole Survivor manages to cook up something that smells even remotely appetizing.
He’s not picky—anything with meat or something that can be gnawed on gets a thumbs-up from him.
Strong might even try to take a larger share of the food than everyone else, but he’ll show his appreciation with a grunt or a satisfied “good food, human.”
X6-88
X6-88 is more focused on his duties as a Courser than on food, but he quietly respects the Sole Survivor’s ability to prepare meals, especially given the wasteland's limited resources.
He’s practical, so he’ll appreciate whatever you make, but don’t expect any outward praise. He’ll simply state that the meal is “efficient.”
He prefers meals that are straightforward and no-nonsense—like grilled meat or something simple but nutritious.
Ada
Ada is fascinated by the idea of cooking in the wasteland, especially since she’s a robot and can’t taste anything herself. But she’s all about making sure the meal is “perfect” and will offer helpful suggestions.
She enjoys watching you cook, often pointing out how the ingredients could be optimised for better results. But when you bake something sweet, she’ll describe it as “incredibly efficient nourishment.”
Ada is especially impressed with any food that’s meticulously prepared or has a technological flair to it.
Automatron
Like Ada, Automatron lacks the ability to enjoy food, but they still value the efficiency and resourcefulness behind the Sole Survivor’s cooking.
They’re always keen to learn about the process and might even suggest improvements based on their mechanical knowledge.
Automatron might take notes as you prepare meals and will offer praise for any dish that has a perfect balance of ingredients.
Old Longfellow
Old Longfellow is a man who’s seen it all, and he’s particularly fond of a hearty, no-frills meal after a long day. He’ll often ask for simple dishes like fish, stews, or roasted meat.
He’ll quietly sit and enjoy the meal, nodding in approval after each bite, but he doesn’t always have much to say about it.
If you make something with seafood or something that reminds him of home, he’ll reminisce about the “good old days” in Far Harbor.
Porter Gage
Gage loves anything that’s simple and easy to prepare, but he’ll be downright impressed when the Sole Survivor manages to make something “top-tier” out of almost nothing.
He’s got a taste for bold flavors, so anything with a spicy kick or unique ingredient will catch his attention.
Gage might joke about you opening a restaurant in Nuka-World, but he’s genuine when he says you’ve got skills that most people in the wasteland can only dream of.
♡If you liked this fic, please consider buying me a coffee! Ko-fi ♡
