i found a REALLY old picture of me from many many years ago when i was goth lol

it almost made me tear up because when i dressed that way there was no tiktok and it wasn’t normalized in any second

i got bullied to the core and seeing kids now being able to wear it makes me actually very happy tbh

i dress so boring now and sometimes miss it but i feel too old to dress that way now😭

and i also miss being a scene kid so much like it wasn’t a good time because of the bullying but i loved every inch of dressing how i wanted

I cannot wait for the day that those people who harass younger goths, particularly teenagers, try that shit on an elder goth. Shalt be a startling realisation for them I believe.

I honestly hate how emo and scene seem to be grouped together now. Like yeah, sure, they're both alt, but they are very much different subgroups of alternative. I hate how emo is basically dead, and I blame TikTok and consumerism and them thinking that they were the same. If you try to look up emo you don't get pictures of it at all, all you get is scene. Emo is mostly black if very little color. Scene is pretty much the opposite. Grunge is totally different too, same with goth. It's only people who never understood these different subgenres of alternative that would think they are all the same thing.

Am I the only one who sees it?

I have an old college friend who I visited recently and I told her son we were roommates for a time in Seattle.

But I don't mention we shared a room and queen size bed in a five room house in the University District - there was someone living from basement to attic in that place.

We also met around the time also dated her sexy gymnast roommate at our college. There was much sex. Not together. But thin walls. Tents. Giggling.

I never slept with her because I liked her too much as a friend. I liked having platonic friends and to treat her like a sex object would've ruined that.

Later (for just a few years) I did find as much as I liked being bi, I didn't like how I felt about or treated women I was involved with AT ALL.

So never tried anything after that. I have only platonic women friends. I have male lovers. Haven't really dated anyone non binary.

Basically, I feel nonbinary in my heart, I present as a woman because it makes me invisible and harmless, I'm asexual because men are too difficult to care for and adopt, and I'd be happy to spend platonic years in retirement with my best friends of any gender.

Saw this on twitter (and promptly stole it) and it reminded of the time many years ago i went to the Cathouse,the local metal/alt club. We'd been at the pub first,and the promoters had been round,giving out the free entry tickets,so we'd headed into the club,pretty much for it opening. Got to the bar,and had a few drinks,to add to the "few" we'd enjoyed in the Solid. So we're in the Cathouse,it's about 5 or 10 minutes after it opens,we're a little tipsy,and some good song comes on,my friend Chris gives me a look,i smile knock back my drink,and we go for a dance. Cos it's just opened,the smoke machine has done a good job of covering the dancefloor to the point that it's not until we're about a third of the way into the song,that we realise that we're the only 2 folk up dancing,and everyone else is stood around the dancefloor watching. He says "whst do we do?" I looked back,"just keep dancing" there was nothing else for it really.

You can do whatever you want forever. You want to dress goth? Do it! Adult goths exist! And they're the coolest fucking thing! We need more visibly goth grownups in the world imo. I didn't realize i could Just Be Goth until i was like...23. I've seen goth grandmas

i still watch some of them on youtube and you’re so right they are 100% the coolest

but i also have a feeling of like it doesn’t suit me anymore like it used to and im scared ill just look silly
