I'm actually surprised that so few people have heard of olallieberries but hadn't tried them, because I only know about them from Jargon File.
I guess these days maybe not a lot of people have read Jargon File (much) either...

Olallieberry
Also known as olallaberry, olalliberry, ollalaberry or ollaliberry
Not to be confused with boysenberry, blackberry or trailing blackberry

Yeah I know I’m two days late but my garbage camera quality made me redraw and color sketches I originally wanted to post on March 14th so uh, here!
Below is just rambling about these drawings+another little drawing+facts and ramblings about berries ig

Pi pie with loganberry filling and close up of the card (puns were low hanging fruit but I had to take them)
Brief loganberry history- Logan berries are a cross of blackberries and raspberries, created and named after James Harvey Logan in 1881. He didn’t really like existing varieties of either berry so said “fuck it, I’ll do it myself”. It gets even more complex with crossing because another type called boysenberry is made of a cross of loganberries, blackberries, and raspberries and was made in 1920’s. That or a loganberry and dewberry scientist aren’t super sure where it came from. Another variety called olallieberry was made crossing loganberries and another called a youngberry in 1930’s-1950’s. I got this all through brief searches. I only know about loganberries because of ONE mention of it in the show. I didn’t know four of these berries existed till now HOW MANY BERRIES EXIST?? (Google says 400+, I need to stop before I go deeper into searching ok onto the drawings,)
I’m actually kind of proud about these drawings as simple as they are?? This is the first time I’ve fully colored and drawn a pieces of fanart for this fandom which wow, idk why it took me THIS long to make art for it and I have yet to draw more
I did give Logan pi earrings because ✨I can✨
Image on the right, Logan is supposed to be holding a throw pillow/round pillow. I wanted to make it pi themed but I wasn’t sure how to convey that? Or the fact it is a pillow? Idk not too sure of that drawing but I’m gonna share it anyways
If it weren’t for Logan I would have forgotten pi day existed so thanks to him for that
I can finally let myself sleep I wanted to finish this so badly ok bye

So it’s the last day of my summer break and as always, the ultimate Sunday Scaries™️ are starting to set in. That means it’s time to reflect on what I DID manage to do with my time off, instead of focusing on all the things I meant to do and didn’t. So here goes:
Saw all three LOTR films, extended edition, in HD in the theater
Went to the San Diego Zoo Safari Park for the first time in years
Visited the Gamble House, which had long been on my bucket list
Shopped at Vroman’s, my favorite bookshop in the entire world
Read lots of books (23 since I’ve been off work)
Started the decluttering process in my bedroom
Finished writing “Late Night Talking”
Had fun participating in the shenanigans of Pedro Scouts Summer Camp
Learned how to use Discord (more or less, lol)
Ate olallieberry pie
Bought myself Scrivener for my birthday and am learning how to use it
Through books, I visited the High Sierra, the medieval Indian Ocean, Japan, mythic lands, the past and the future, Mexico, the Old West, ComicCon, Scotland and more.
Watched “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent”
Weeded out my closet and bought new clothes that are two sizes smaller (it’s been a year+ long journey to lose 60+ pounds)
All in all, not too bad for an anxiety-ridden introvert who hates the heat!
EDIT: Forgot to add I started wearing earrings again this summer. I got out of the habit of putting them in during COVID and the holes had almost closed up.

i challenge you to come up with a standard for your ideal world that you think may be controversial, or at least is different from the norm in our world, but has nothing to do with economics, politics, or human rights. i’ll start
in my ideal world, purple candy/sweets would NEVER be grape or blueberry flavored, instead it would be blackberry, boysenberry, or olallieberry

Domaine Louis Jadot, Musigny Grand Cru 1993
Ruby. The nose is first class, balances distinction with refinement, with thorough black fruit in a layered mix of morello/olallieberry/blackberry stenciled in soil signatures and savory secondary notes of périgord and spice. A feast of flavor on the palate, the small black fruits laced with earl grey, game, licorice, and coffee flavors, proceeding with silken flow and a gradual increase and…

(post 3/5 of food photos from the past few years)
waffles! usually I make these with whole wheat flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, peanut oil, an egg, and milk, with eyeballed measurements; occasionally I whip the egg white (potentially using two eggs) and fold it into the batter to make lighter waffles. I also often add fruit/nuts/chocolate (cut small) and additional flavorings to the batter and eat the waffles alone, but I tend to only photograph them when they have toppings
[2021-09-12] all-purpose flour waffles topped with whipped cream, fresh blueberries, walnuts, and honey
[2021-09-13] another of the same batch topped with whipped cream, toasted coconut, walnuts, and.....some kind of sugar syrup?
[2022-10-09] waffle of some sort topped with olallieberry jam cream cheese frosting
[2023-02-09] waffles topped with salted maple whipped cream and walnuts cooked in maple syrup
[2023-03-16] partially-buckwheat(?) waffles topped with chocolate whipped cream and finely-chopped chocolate
[2023-04-19] waffles of some sort topped with whipped cream and cinnamon apple; IIRC the whipped cream might've been mixed with a caramel sauce that I made using yogurt? which I somehow didn't anticipate being very sour but the sourness actually kinda worked with the apple
[2023-09-16] whipped egg waffle with a jam of sorts made from Carpobrotus chilensis fruits; I did not especially enjoy it because the jam was slimy and had a flavor that I can best describe as being like the "juicy pear" Jelly Belly flavor
[2023-09-15] bonus: preparation of the Carpobrotus fruits
[2023-10-18] waffle with pecans topped with kind of a cranberry sauce, whipped cream, and pumpkin pie spice
[2023-10-19] another of the same batch topped with kind of an almond paste (just almond flour cooked with sugar and water), chocolate whipped cream, and slivered almonds
[2023-10-31] waffle with cranberries, spices, and molasses, topped with almond extract whipped cream and almond slices
[2023-11-07] partially-rye waffle with dried cherries, chocolate, almonds, and cinnamon, topped with vanilla whipped cream, cherry soda syrup whipped cream, and dried cherries

Sorry got alliteration mixed up a bit too much with rhythming. Speaking of which, octopi making Olallieberry pie
The plural of octopus is octopuses
Not octopi
The 'i' suffix is only for words with a Latin root, and octopus has a Greek root
A lot of people understandably mistake octopus for a Latin-rooted word because of the 'octo' bit, but it's actually Greek-rooted, so the rule for plurals is different
To reiterate: the plural of octopus is octopuses.

Domaine Fernand LĂ©cheneaut et Fils (Philippe et Vincent), Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Cailles 1er Cru 1996
Ruby. You can detect the acidity of the vintage on the top note of the pointed bouquet. Unfurls into a cone shape of smoky black berry aromatics. There is depth and variety here, and floral traces soften it. The exterior brings a live-wire sappiness and the inner is tinged with charcoal, with olallieberry fruit at its heart. The finish is a ceylon tea and sassafras ensemble infused with some…
