I really don't think you can read Naoto Shirogane (P4) as trans if you take into account the canon text unaltered. P4 is so flawed in terms of handling gender and sexism in general and by proxy the treatment of Naoto as a character by the narrative just doesn't permit them to be read as not cis without it all coming off as bad faith. It's why I really don't like debates about the canonicity of their transness that are still going on in current day when the debate should really start with "Atlus wrote a character with a story that can and still is interpreted as a trans story, has many allegories that a trans story has, but was held back by Atlus simply not wanting to make a trans character." (Which in of itself can be read in whatever which way. With their track record I kind of already think they're transphobic.)

This isn't me ragging at all on trans Naoto truthers. I personally believe her to be transfem- I think framing it that way, in a way that society needed her to be a cis male for her to be respected as a person, as a detective, as an equal (equal to her suppressing her true gender identity or/by detransitioning) would've benefited the story so much more. But I can't be like disingenuous and say that that's canon more than it is how I'd wish Atlus tackled it- at least just by already having her trans in mind.

This Hellhound AU is getting out of hand, now I’m bringing in other characters like Class 1A/B kids and other members of the LoV. Everyone is aged up/down to the 20-22 age-range (age for demons/angels debatable because TECHNICALLY they’re immortal but mentally they’re in the 20-22 range). The setting is a Warlock university (also warlocks can make pacts with either angels, or demons, and if they’re really powerful/well learned they can summoner more than one of each). The worst part is coming up with unique pacts for each kind of angel/demon (there’s 8 of each).

BUT SOME OF THE PAIRS I’VE THOUGHT OF SO FAR ARE JUST. HILARIOUS. LIKE WHY WOULD I DO THIS TO THESE CHARACTERS--

Like I really decided that All Might would have Stain as an ANGEL, and that Deku would get Tomura (also as an angel maybe, making Tomu an angel would be INTERESTING TO ME).

And Ochacco gets stuck with Himiko and wants to know why I’m doing this to her. Also I’m making Kiri the warlock and Bakugo the demon and you can’t stop me. The best part is gonna be all the classmate dynamics (I have to make sure some of these chars are Tempters oh no).

Always rubs me the wrong way seeing certain people being extremely critical and hateful towards Kevin Afghani. Just because he doesn't sound exactly like Charles Martinet.

As if the only criteria to a good Mario voice is that it needs to sound like Charles Martinet.

Look, I adore Charles like the next Mario fan, and of course his voice is incredibly iconic. So yeah, of course people aren't gonna react well to any kind of change whatsoever.

But I think people need to be more open minded. I think capturing the spirit of the character is a lot more important than just sounding like this one guy. And based on what I've heard playing through Brothership and Wonder, Kevin nails that spirit of Mario.

i don’t get people who don’t ship hilson because like- what more evidence would you want to convince you that they were in love with each other? Seriously, apart form the kiss and the canonical sex etc etc, what more is there? Love confessions? Done. Over-protectiveness? Done. Self-sacrifice? Done. Longing, loving stares? Done. Everyone else being aware of the tension between them? Done. Taking care of each other during difficult times? Done. Being silly and cute only around each other? Done. Always, even after the worst of scenarios have taken place, coming back together? Done. Literally not being able to function normally if the other is unwell/ there’s a rift in their relationship? Done. Being protective of each other when someone dares insult them? Done. Giving up their EVERYTHING just to be together? Done.

Little analysis on Misty and the relationships she has with the yellowjackets and herself, because why not.

Honestly, I think one big reason people don’t understand her character is because they don’t understand fatal loneliness. She has truly been living in her own world for so long that she kind of created her own echo chamber. It isn't just she doesn't have friends, she has absolutely no other input. It is incredibly easy to moralize everything you do when you have no connection to anything that keeps you in check. Because you know who you are on the inside, you know that you don't do things maliciously. This is probably how Misty sees herself. Her mind is in a constant spiral, looping around itself to justify everything she does, because how could she be evil? She knows her intentions aren't. I think this also a big reason, other than the fact that she is young, why she doesn't see and never truly will see a problem with her and Ben "being together". She was turned out by social norms and othered at a very young age and now any rhetoric that society throws at her, even moral values, she can throw away in her mind because she doesn't feel the need to live by a "social standard" in any sort of way. Even if that social standard is something objectively right, she'll be grouping it in with a society that rejected her. Why would she live by that? She's figured out her own set of rules for what's wrong and right and a lot of them just don't hold her accountable.

Another thing is that she has truly only lived as a bystander. It's why the woods seem like a perfect solution to her, why she'd want to stay in them longer. She's lonely, she's found a place that is just as blocked off from the world as her mind has been for years. Here is the place where no words yelled against her hold any real weight. Because she is needed here. There is absolutely no one with the knowledge she can provide, at the end of the day their insults are only for show, because they can't make it without her.

This is why we see her start and end relatively in the same place. She is in no way a static character, but the rest of them have a much more obvious descent than she does. Their disconnect from society does the exact same thing that hers has done her whole life; it justifies them. They will never see themselves as evil, because their brains are now doing the exact same thing, moralizing their actions. Telling them that what they did, what they continue to do, is okay because they have reasons. It's why they're so quick to reject Ben, because he is proof that they never had to abandon morals to survive. And it's why they are so quick to establish a hate against Misty once they get back, because she is someone they can easily pin as "crazier" than them. They see her as the obvious outcast, and now their first step back into society is reestablishing that. It's almost how they "gain back their sensibility". Furthering themselves from what Misty is, even though they all went through the same things, is how they manage to go a little less insane.

Truly what every Yellowjackets monologue has kind of dissolved into is the repeating phrase "I am not a bad person because..."

I hope no one takes this as me pinning Misty as an evil mastermind, it's meant to do the exact opposite. I want people to understand just how much loneliness can affect a person and the way they see things.

Anyway, I'd be super stoked to hear what others think of Misty and what's going on in that noggin of hers :)

If you conceptualize Pyro under his suit you can't NOT give her any burn marks btw. Make them male female intersex trans cis or in between, old or young, any ethnicity you can think of, hell if you want it he doesn't have to be human. But her constant is the marks of fire.

They can be faint. They can be debilitating. They can be welts and destructive, they can be bad enough to be the reason she never takes off the mask. They can be red marks that doesn't mess him up too much, they can be scars and imperfections of surgical reconstruction, they can be better than Zuko or worse than Deadpool. But Pyro will never, ever be unscathed.

Pyro can't process pain, at least not when violence is inflicted upon him. Pyro would be the type of child to put his cheek to a lighter and only be stopped by her parents. Pyro sees fire as the color in a bland world, literally. The world is dull and gray without it, and beautiful when they have access to it. Pyro would refuse to leave a burning house, fireproof suit on or not.

Pyro's joy leaves marks, and she relishes in that joy.
