Viral Soft Launch | LN
Tumblr media
Handsomer by Russ (remix)
Summary: Lando and you had always had a very private relationship, always keeping to yourself until a fun little tik tok trend helps you soft launch your relationship.
Warnings: Pretty much none. All fluff. Some sexual innuendo, dirty song lyrics, private relationship, sweet cute bf Lando.
Tumblr media
You and Formula one driver, Lando Norris have been dating each other privately for about a year now, there have been rumors but nothing has been confirmed about you two at this time, and to be honest you and Lando liked it that way.. You had been begging him for weeks now to do this silly little Tik Tok trend with you that you had seen other couples doing, even if you didn’t post it to your respective social media accounts you still wanted to make a fun memory with him.
Finally you got him to agree. “Alright Alright, If this is what you want? Tell me what I have to do.” he says with a smirk looking down at you pouting up at him, his thumb running across your bottom lip. “You are the best Lan, I love you so much.” your eyes sparkle at him. You hear him chuckle. “I love you too, Y|N.” his green eyes shining with so much love and admiration for his silly girlfriend. “Okay I'm going to need you to memorize these lyrics.” you say handing him a piece of paper with your handwriting on it. The lyrics to The Remix of Russ’s “Handsomer.” written across it. He looks over at you shaking his head with a laugh. “It's a good thing I love you.” he says, placing a kiss to the top of your head as he leaves you in the living room to practice your part.
After a few hours Lando joins you back in the living room. “I think I’m ready.” he says with a smirk as he watches you practicing your part along with some choreography he feared he would have to learn. You look up at him giving him a wink. “Perfect, me too.” you say pulling him to you and standing on your tippy toes to kiss his perfect little nose. “Here's what I'd like to do.” you say directing him. He lets you drag him around the living room trying to find the best lighting. “Perfection.” you say looking over at Lando glowing in the sunlight of your shared living room. “I want to do each of our parts and then merge them together.” you say. “I’ll do you, you do me.” you say making Lando laugh. “Cut it out Norris.” you laugh playfully shoving him away from you. His dirty mind always getting him into trouble. “Alright alright, sorry serious business, my bad.” he still can’t keep himself from chuckling. You roll your eyes at him. “Since you can’t be serious apparently. You’re going first.” you say pointing for him to return to the designated filming spot. “Bossy much.” he jokes sticking his tongue out at you but doing what he’s told of course. You return the favor sticking out your tongue back at him. Lando raises his eyebrow and opens his mouth to make a comment about putting that tongue to much better use but he decides to keep his mouth shut and do what he’s told.
“Please feel free to have fun with it.” you say winking at him. “So I shouldn’t just stand here like a lump and mumble the lyrics? Rats, that was my whole plan.” he teases you once more. “You know what, never mind.” you sigh walking away, giving up on his continuous bullying and this cute idea you wanted to do with him. “No, no baby come back, I’m sorry I’ll be more serious I swear.” he begs not wanting to see the disappointment on your adorable face any longer. You give him a long side eye. “Ok.” you whisper returning to your filming spot. “Ready when you are princess.” he says with a wink. “On the count of three, okay baby?” you say he nods. “One..Two..Three.” you say pressing Play.
Much to your surprise Lando had really taken his part seriously. “I know I’m fine, but the money makes me handsomer. Walk around, smellin’ like a come-up, and the answer for her problems, but I’m not him, I don’t mind it though. You don’t like me how you think you do, I like it though.” he finishes his part in a fit of laughter. “I'm sorry but this is ridiculous.” he says running his hands through his curls as he rewatches his rap, with both of you laughing hysterically by the end. “Alright missy no more stalling your turn.” he says taking your phone from you. He had no clue what your part was going to be so he was in for a little treat. You take your spot ready whenever he is. You nod. “On the count of three angel face.” he winks. You nod again, locking in. “One..Two..Three.” he says.
“I won’t lie, that extra coin don’t hurt But I gets money baby, I just rather spend yours first. I know for sure the pussy worth more than an Hermes purse.” Lando bites his bottom lip keeping in his gasp as he watches you in pure awe. “I got the best on earth, so that dick better come with some perks. Yeah you fine, and the money caught my eye too but there's a big difference between you and my side dude. You be all up in between them thighs, he’s who I lie to.” you pause winking at him licking your lips. An almost moan leaves Lando’s lips. Damn you were sexy. “You get my titties in your face, he getting side-boob.” you stop laughing hysterically falling into his arms.. You rewatch it laughing hysterically, you both try it a few more times finally deciding to just do it together instead of making separate videos, before you are fully satisfied, each time ending with the pair of you in a fit of uncontrollable laughter. the final take has you both laughing hysterically, lando kissing you softly the pair of you looking at each other completely in love. “That’s it, that's the one.” you say with a soft sweet smile on your face, as you edit the final cut and save it to your phone. Playing it back for Lando.
“This turned out so cute and fun, thanks for convincing me to do it with you.” he laughs, pulling you into his arms. “Thank you for agreeing to do it with me.” you say kissing his cheek gently. You see Lando smirk. “What?” you ask him caressing his cheek with your soft fingertips. “There's no side dude looking at your side boob? Right??” he asks with a laugh. You smack him playfully. “Seriously? Of course not you should know better than that.. You are my one and only Lan.” you smirk. The pair of you stare at each other for a moment before you sigh.
“I know how we like to keep ourselves private so I don’t think we should share it.” you say. Lando can see the sadness in your eyes as the words leave your lips. You knew why you kept things private but sometimes you just really wanted to be able to share the love and joy you had for your sweet boyfriend. He kisses your lips softly. “Whatever you think is best princess, at least we have the moment for us.” he says . There is something mischievous in his eyes. You let out a sigh. “It's probably for the best.” you say setting your phone down on the table, kissing Lando on the cheek and heading into the kitchen to grab a drink. Lando smirks. He had a plan.
He takes your phone and sends the video to himself. He knows the reason why you two had remained private about your relationship but he thought it was about time he shared the love he had for the most beautiful sweet girl he had ever known. You walk back into the living room to grab your phone, so you can put on some music while you cook for the two of you. He knew this was the perfect opportunity. He heard you digging around in the cupboard pulling out pots and pans, the soft hum of Martin Garrix coming from where you were. He smirks as he takes to his instagram to post the video of you two. “You are the answer to all my problems.” he captioned the video after a popular lyric in the song, tagging you and hitting share.. He hears everything in the kitchen stop. He smiles as the video had finally uploaded to his instagram.
“Lando?” he hears you call to him. He can’t help but smirk. “Yeah babe.” he says as you meet him in the hall, phone in hand. You eye him. “You just couldn’t help yourself could you?” you laugh at your idiot boyfriend. He pulls you close. “I couldn’t help it, we looked so cute and had so much fun, I couldn’t let that go to waste, plus you worked so hard to get me to do it with you, and looked so disappointed when we decided not to share it.” he says. “What about our privacy?” you ask him, as he brushes a strand of your hair from your face and tucks it behind your ear. “We’ll deal with it as it comes my love, there isn’t a single thing we can’t handle together.” he says kissing your lips reassuring you that everything was going to be alright. At this time you were sure the internet was probably going wild with your relationship finally confirmed.
You decide to follow Lando’s lead and share his post to your story. “#SoftLaunch I love you 😘 Thanks for being silly with me babe. You are my everything ” you were so happy you finally got to share this love you had with everyone. Lando’s fans were going crazy, loving you two finally going public. There had been so many rumors since you’d been in the paddock so much but you two had always been careful about putting your relationship into the public eye but it was kind of refreshing to finally be out in the open sharing your love for each other and being able to announce your relationship in such a fun way, which fans were absolutely loving. You couldn’t wait to be able to get him to do the next Tik Tok trend with you.
The End.

Real Love
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: You and Carlos were just supposed to be a PR couple for less than a year but someone decided to catch feelings.
Song: Love Story - Indila
Part 2
Author’s note: I can't write short stories to save my life. I hope you enjoy this long journey which may take a full day to read. Please like, reblog and share this! <3

Tumblr media
It all started as a simple PR arrangement between you, a well-known influencer, and Carlos Sainz, the Formula 1 driver. We were both told it would only last less than a year - just long enough to boost our public profiles and create some buzz. Little did we know, someone had other plans.
At first, it was easy enough. We attended events together, posted cute couple photos on social media, and played the part of the perfect pair. The chemistry between us felt natural, which made the whole charade convincing.
Your routine was simple enough.
You and Carlos would meet up at his house and he would drive you both to the paddock while sharing a small conversation about what happened in your jobs in the last weeks.
The roar of the engines and the excited chatter of the fans would fill the air around you.
As you reach the Ferrari garage, Carlos turns to you. "I've got some meetings with Charles to attend to, but you're free to explore or chat with the other drivers' partners if you'd like. I'll catch up with you in a bit, okay?"
You nod, pressing a quick kiss to his lips. "Sounds good. I'll be around if you need me." With a smile, you part ways, ready to take in the bustling atmosphere of the Ferrari garage.
Because of your ‘relationship’, you were able to make friends with your current bestie, Lily Muni.
You and your close friend Lily would often engage in candid discussions about your romantic entanglements, particularly your faux relationship with Carlos. Despite being the sole confidante privy to the fact that your connection with Carlos was entirely fabricated, Lily wholeheartedly embraced the role of your number one supporter and "shipper."
She would enthusiastically encourage you, even though she was fully aware that your purported love affair was merely a façade maintained for the benefit of others.
"So what's going on with you these days?" Lily asked curiously since you hadn't seen her in a few weeks. You knew that she wanted to know more about your relationship but it was still the same.
"Lily, I don't know what you're waiting for," You replied, taking a sip of your coffee. "We're going to be like this until the contract ends."
Lily looked at you with a knowing look, smiling at your denial, "Not until one of you decides to confess, I bet it's gonna be Carlos. I see where his eyes go when you're not looking."
You can feel your cheeks heat up at Lily's teasing words, and you quickly avert your gaze, trying to hide your embarrassment.
Blushing, you try to hide your embarrassment by taking another sip of your coffee, hoping to distract yourself.
Deep down, you couldn't deny the flutter of hope that Lily's words sparked within you, secretly wishing that her prediction would come true and Carlos would finally reveal his true feelings.
"Come on, Lily, you know it's all just for show," you say with a nervous laugh, hoping to dismiss any romantic notions. Deep down, however, you can't help but wonder if there might be some truth to her playful observations.
Lily chuckles mischievously, her eyes twinkling with mischief. "Oh, I know, I know. But you can't blame me for hoping, can you? Sometimes, even the most make-believe romances have a way of turning real."
You nodded before thinking of her words, realizing that there were indeed moments when Carlos's gaze lingered a little longer, or when his touches felt a little more intentional. Maybe, just maybe, Lily's playful observations held more truth than you were willing to admit.
As you sat there with your coffee, a newfound sense of curiosity and anticipation began to take root within you, wondering if this faux relationship could possibly evolve into something genuine and heartfelt.
You would be lying if you said that you didn't have a crush on Carlos. His charm and the way he made you feel special were undeniable. It wasn't just the little moments or his playful gestures, it was the way your heart skipped a beat whenever he was near.
Every time he looked into your eyes, it felt like there was something more behind his gaze. And now, with Lily's playful observations, the possibility of those feelings being reciprocated started to flicker in your mind, making your heart race with anticipation.
But you knew that breaking the rules of the PR contract because of your feelings was not an option. You couldn't risk jeopardizing the professional relationship and the project you had been working on together.
Besides, you reminded yourself, sometimes it's better to keep a crush as a secret, unrequited admiration rather than risking the potential fallout that could come from crossing that line.
So, you decided to bury those feelings deep down, focusing on the task at hand and maintaining a professional demeanor, even if your heart still fluttered every time Carlos entered the room.
It was a bittersweet realization, but one that you knew was necessary for the sake of your career and the project's success.
After catching up with Lily, you had to head back to the Ferrari garage to see Carlos one more time before he goes to the first sprint of the race, your heart pounding with a mixture of excitement and trepidation.
You took a deep breath, preparing yourself to put on your best poker face, to hide the feelings that threatened to spill over.
This would be the last time you allowed yourself to indulge in this fantasy, the last time you let your heart flutter at the sight of him. From now on, it would be all business, all focus, and no room for what-ifs and maybes.
As you entered, you found Carlos focused on preparing for the race, his eyes fixed on the car before him. You couldn't help but admire his dedication and skill, a reminder of why you were drawn to him in the first place.
Taking a deep breath, you approached him, ready to wish him luck and carry on with your professional duties.
But as you stood there, your eyes locked with his, you couldn't help but wonder if there was something more beneath the surface, something that Lily's playful observations had hinted at.
As he smiled at you and gestured for you to come over, a glimmer of hope ignited within you. Maybe, just maybe, there was a chance for something more between you two, despite the professional boundaries. But you quickly pushed those thoughts aside, reminding yourself of the risks involved and the importance of staying focused on the task at hand.
With a smile, you returned his gesture and walked over, ready to offer your well wishes for the race.
As soon as you got close enough, his hand sneaked across your waist, sending a shiver down your spine. Your heart raced as he pulled you closer, his lips meeting yours in a passionate kiss.
The world seemed to stand still for a moment as the warmth of his touch and the sweetness of his kiss enveloped you. It was a moment of pure bliss, a confirmation that there was indeed something more between you two.
But as quickly as it happened, reality came crashing back.
You pulled away, your heart pounding with a mixture of desire and uncertainty.
That was normal for you two. It doesn't mean anything.
"Good luck with your race," you muttered, your voice barely above a whisper.
As you glanced from his lips to his eyes and saw that he did the same thing, a spark of connection flickered between you, leaving you wondering if there was more to this moment than either of you were willing to admit.
“Mi amor, I will definitely win with you being my good luck charm,” He said, smirking at the affect his words still had on you.
Reluctantly, you watched as Carlos tore his gaze away from you and focused on the final preparations of his car. With a heavy heart, you knew that this fleeting moment of connection would have to be set aside for now.
He had a race to win, and you had your own professional duties to attend to. As he climbed into the driver's seat and drove off to the starting line, you could only hope that the universe would bring you together again, when the time was right. . . .
Tumblr media
Carlos ended up being first in practice 1, which was very surprising for everyone. His skill and determination were evident as he flawlessly maneuvered the twists and turns of the track, leaving his competitors in the dust.
The cheers and applause from the crowd filled the air, but amidst the excitement, you couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and admiration for Carlos. . . .

As you sat on Carlos's bed, waiting for him to finish dressing up. You couldn't help but feel a mix of nervousness and anticipation. Carlos and you had to go to an event together so you were now sitting on his bed, all dolled up.
The dress you were given to wear to the event was a stunning crimson masterpiece. Its vibrant hue perfectly represented the fiery spirit of Ferrari, mirroring Carlos's passion and determination on the racetrack.
The fabric gracefully hugged your curves, accentuating your figure in all the right places. The bodice was beautifully adorned with intricate lace detailing, adding a touch of elegance to the ensemble. The dress flowed effortlessly down to the floor, creating a mesmerizing silhouette as you walked.
As you looked at yourself in the mirror, you couldn't help but feel a sense of empowerment and confidence.
You glanced at the clock, realizing that time was running out. You hoped that Carlos would hurry and join you soon.
As you read the Twitter comments questioning the authenticity of your relationship with Carlos, a wave of insecurity washed over you.
Despite knowing the truth of your connection, the doubts planted by strangers made you question your ability to convince fans of your 'love' for each other.
It was disheartening to realize that no matter how real your feelings were, they could still be perceived as fake by those who only saw glimpses of your lives through social media.
"Carlos?" you knocked on the bathroom door, wanting to know what he was still doing as they needed to go.
As you waited for a response, you couldn't help but wonder if he was feeling the same pressure and scrutiny from fans as you were, and if it was affecting his confidence as well.
"Yes cariño, you can come in," you heard his voice and you decided to open the door.
As you entered the bathroom, the sight of Carlos's bare back took your breath away. His muscles rippled under his smooth skin, and the towel that hung loosely around his waist only added to the allure.
His toned muscles glistened with droplets of water, and you couldn't help but appreciate the physical strength and athleticism that made him a champion on the racetrack.
You tried to maintain composure, but it was impossible to tear your eyes away from him. You were suddenly aware of the growing heat in the room, a reflection of the intense chemistry that existed between the two of you.
He turned to face you, a knowing smile playing on his lips. "Like what you see?" he teased, causing your heart to race even faster.
You quickly averted your gaze, feeling a blush creep up your cheeks. "Sorry," you stammered, turning around to give him privacy. "I didn't realize you weren't dressed yet."
"It's okay cariño, since you're here, do you mind rubbing my back? It's hard to reach sometimes," He asked, gesturing to the bottle close to you on the shelf but still not turning around and applying some lotion onto his face.
"Sure Carlos," you replied.
You took a small amount of lotion in your hands and began to gently rub it onto Carlos's bare back, your fingers gliding smoothly over his muscles.
As you worked your way from his shoulders down to his lower back, you couldn't help but admire the strength and resilience they represented.
The physical contact eased the tension that had been building up in his back, making him stop what he was doing and sigh in relief.
"Am I that good?" you teased.
Chuckling, Carlos' eyes were still closed in bliss. "Well, cariño, you have magic hands. I've never felt so relaxed. Maybe I should consider hiring you as my personal masseur," he muttered.
Giggling softly, you replied, "Well, it seems like I have a hidden talent then. I can give you a massage after your races if you'd like."
"Yes please cariño," He pleaded.
You were taken aback by the intensity of his plea, and the way his voice resonated in your ears sent a shiver down your spine. Your cheeks flushed even deeper as you realized the effect you had on him, and a mix of excitement and nervousness washed over you.
"Y/N? Why did you stop?" Carlos asked, finally turning around to face you, his eyes locked with yours.
The electricity in the room seemed to intensify as you found yourself lost in his gaze, unable to find the words to explain the sudden halt in your actions.
"Carlos, we have an important event to go to. We can't waste time here," you reminded him and yourself. You just remembered the event that left your mind as soon as you stepped inside the bathroom.
Carlos pouted at your words, his disappointment evident. He knew that the event was important, but he couldn't help but feel a twinge of regret at leaving behind the intimate moment the two of you were sharing.
"We can't just spend a few minutes?" Carlos asked, trying his luck.
"Carlos, this event is about Ferrari," You started, going over to wash your hands. "You have to be there and be there early."
Carlos pouted at your words, remembering the event too. "I guess you're right," he said with a hint of disappointment. "But don't worry, I'll hold you to that promise of a massage later."
"You'll get them soon enough," You replied smiling, walking out of the bathroom, leaving Carlos to change into his suit. . . .
You two had made it to the event half an hour before it was going to start, and as you got out of Carlos' car, you were bombarded with the paparazzi.
Flashbulbs went off incessantly as reporters shouted questions and cameramen jostled for the best angle.
Carlos, being used to this, instinctively shielded you from the chaos, wrapping his arm around your waist and guiding you towards the entrance, where security personnel were waiting to escort you inside.
As soon as you two had gotten into the building, you were able to breathe, soaking in the momentary calmness before the storm of socializing began.
You glanced at Carlos, his hand still lingering on your waist, and you exchanged a knowing smile, silently reassuring each other that you were in this together.
Taking a deep breath, you prepared to gracefully navigate the room, greeting and mingling with the various groups of people in attendance.
Taking a moment to compose yourselves, you scanned the room and spotted familiar faces from various racing teams and sponsors.
Making your way over to each group, you exchanged warm greetings and engaged in small talk, ensuring that you maintained the necessary professional connections in the racing world for Carlos.
"Carlos! Y/N!" a voice called you from in the crowd, and you both turned around to see Benedetto Vigna, the CEO of Ferrari, making his way towards you with a warm smile.
It was a relief to see a familiar face amidst the sea of strangers, and you greeted him with enthusiasm, ready to discuss the future of the partnership between Carlos and Ferrari.
"It's so wonderful to see you both here tonight," he exclaimed, extending his hand in greeting.
"I wouldn't miss it for the world," Carlos replied, giving him a quick hug with a smile.
You looked at him with a raised eyebrow. Wasn't he the one who wanted to stay at home longer for a massage?
As you and Carlos were about to join Benedetto Vigna for a group picture with Charles and his girlfriend Alexandra, you couldn't help but notice Carlos shooting you a mischievous grin.
"Looks like someone changed their mind about staying at home for massages," you whispered playfully, causing Carlos to chuckle as the camera flashed, capturing the moment of camaraderie between the four of you.
You couldn't help but blush as Carlos leaned in closer, his grip on your waist tightening. "I'm still getting that massage, aren't I?" he whispered playfully into your ear, causing a shiver to run down your spine.
You chuckled softly at Carlos's words, feeling a surge of warmth as his grip tightened around your waist. "Of course," you whispered back, leaning into his embrace.
After the group photo, the two of you were approached by the paparazzi, who insisted on taking pictures of just the two of you.
You obliged, striking a pose with Carlos, your smiles radiating with genuine joy and affection. As the camera clicked, freezing the moment in time, you couldn't help but feel grateful for the incredible journey you and Carlos had embarked on together.
Suddenly, you remembered the comments on your relationship being fake crossed your mind. In an impulsive move, you turned to Carlos and whispered, "KIss me."
With that, you leaned in and planted a passionate kiss on his lips, not caring about the prying eyes of the paparazzi.
Carlos, caught off guard by your sudden boldness, responded by deepening the kiss, his lips pressing fervently against yours.
The paparazzi went wild, capturing the genuine love and connection between the two of you, proving once and for all that your relationship was far from fake.
When you were able to separate from each other, you grinned at the paparazzi, reveling in the moment of rebellion and spontaneity. Ignoring the bewildered looks from the crowd, you confidently took Carlos's hand and led him off the stage, eager to escape the prying eyes and enjoy the rest of the night in each other's company.
The paparazzi's cameras continued to flash behind you, capturing the image of two people deeply in love, unafraid to defy expectations and embrace their own happiness.
And that's what you were hoping for.
You two spent the rest of the event, stuck to each other like glue, while effortlessly navigating conversations with important people.
As you mingled and exchanged pleasantries, it became evident to everyone around that your connection was genuine, sincere, and unbreakable. People couldn't help but be drawn to the magnetic energy between you, as you effortlessly charmed and captivated those in your presence.
Carlos made sure to take extra care of you on the drive home, keeping a watchful eye as he navigated the streets.
He gently helped you out of the car when you arrived at your doorstep, ensuring you were safely inside before bidding you goodnight and heading back to his own place.
As you lay in bed, still buzzing with the excitement of the night, you couldn't help but feel incredibly lucky to have someone like Carlos by your side, always looking out for you and making sure you were taken care of.
If only it was all real and genuine. . . .
Tumblr media
You woke up with a pounding headache and a foggy memory of the previous night's events. As you tried to piece together what had happened, you received a call from Carlos.
"Hello?" you muttered into the phone sleepily.
"Oh Y/N, were you asleep? I didn't mean to wake up," Carlos' voice came through your phone and you immediately woke up fully.
When you turned on your TV, the camera panned over to Carlos on the phone, and you were surprised to see him there already.
"Carlos! Why are you there already? You should have called me earlier or something?" you groaned at both your headache and the fact that you would have to go to the paddock by yourself instead of with Carlos.
"Cariño, I already told everyone that you were sick but that you were recovering quickly and everyone wished you well." Carlos stated, making you freeze in the middle of trying to get out of bed.
"You what?"
"You don't have to come Cariño, unless you really want to," Carlos really assured you and you could see his worried face on TV.
"Thank you, you saved me big time," you replied, sliding back into your bed with a relieving sigh.
"You're welcome Cariño,"
During the call, you and Carlos briefly chatted before the race was about to begin.
"Put it on video call for a second," Carlos asked quickly and you did it without hesitation, hoping he wouldn't mind your bed hair.
Carlos gave you an air kiss, and you returned one back, a substitute for the good luck kiss you would always give him before switching off the phone.
You couldn't help but smile at the gesture, knowing that Carlos was trying to be considerate in your absence.
"Okay goodbye Cariño, I'll win the race for you."
"Good luck Carlos."
With your spirits lifted, you sat down to watch the race. You watched attentively as Carlos gave it his all, pushing himself to the limits. To your surprise, he managed to secure second place.
As soon as he was able to, he called you. His voice was filled with a mix of joy and frustration.
"Congratulations, Carlos! Second place is still amazing!" you exclaimed with genuine excitement.
However, Carlos's disappointment was evident as he sighed heavily and said, "I know, but I really wanted that first place. I'll keep pushing harder for the next race."
"You did incredible, Carlos! I'm so proud of you," you reassured him. "Second place is a huge achievement, and it shows how much progress you've made. Don't be too hard on yourself. There will always be another race to aim for that first place."
Carlos let out a small chuckle, his voice filled with a mix of gratitude and determination. "Thank you, Cariño. Your support means everything to me. I won't rest until I reach that top spot."
"Well you can rest at my place with your personal massager waiting for you."
"I can't wait Cariño, I'll see you in the evening," He said happily. A smile could be heard from in his voice and you grinned at that.
You didn't know why you decided to invite Carlos over but now the deed was already done.
As you headed into the kitchen, you couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation. You knew how much Carlos loved your homemade tortillas and croquetas, and you wanted to make this evening extra special for him.
The sound of sizzling oil and the aroma of frying potatoes filled the air as you prepared the ingredients, imagining the look of delight on Carlos's face when he tasted the delicious meal you had prepared for him.
You quickly made your way to the bedroom to pick out an outfit that would make you look presentable for Carlos's arrival. After some consideration, you settled on a stylish yet comfortable ensemble—a fitted black blouse paired with high-waisted jeans and a pair of sleek black ankle boots.
To add a touch of elegance, you adorned your neck with a delicate silver necklace and slipped on a matching bracelet.
With your hair neatly styled and a hint of makeup to enhance your natural beauty, you felt confident and ready to welcome Carlos into your home.
Later in the day, there was a knock on your door. When you opened it, there was Carlos, holding a bouquet of flowers.
"Wow, Cariño, you look absolutely stunning," Carlos said, his eyes widening in admiration.
You blushed, not realizing the effect you had on him. "Thank you, Carlos. That's really sweet of you to say," you replied, genuinely touched by his compliment.
"Wow, these flowers are beautiful, Carlos! Thank you so much," you said, genuinely touched by the gesture.
Carlos smiled warmly, his eyes filled with admiration. "You deserve nothing less," he replied softly.
As you led him inside, you were completely unaware of the way Carlos' gaze lingered on you, captivated by your every move. Little did you know, his fascination with you had only grown stronger over time, and he couldn't help but hope that one day you would see him in the same light.
As you entered the dining room, Carlos's eyes widened with excitement as he saw the table set with all his favorite dishes. The aroma of homemade tortillas and croquetas filled the room, making his mouth water.
The warm glow of the candles and the delicious aroma that filled the air made his heart skip a beat. "Oh wow, you've really outdone yourself," he exclaimed, his face lighting up even more. "I can't believe you remembered all my favorites. This is incredible."
"I had to do something for my favourite driver," you teased, having Carlos pull away the chair for you so you could sit down.
"I must admit, being your favorite driver has its perks," Carlos replied with a playful wink, as he took his seat across from you. "But tonight, I'm here as more than just your driver. I'm here to enjoy this wonderful meal with an even more wonderful company."
Raising his glass, Carlos proposed a toast to celebrate their special evening together. "To us," he said, his voice filled with genuine affection. "May this be the first of many unforgettable nights spent in each other's company."
As you savored each bite of the delicious meal, the conversation flowed effortlessly between you and Carlos. Laughter filled the air as you shared stories, dreams, and aspirations.
The setting and shared moments created a deep connection, and you couldn't help but feel grateful for this enchanting evening together. The hours flew by, and before you knew it, the empty plates and wine glasses were a testament to the delightful feast.
As the night progressed, you offered to give Carlos a well-deserved back massage. He gladly accepted and lay down on your couch, allowing you to work your magic. You applied gentle pressure and kneaded the tension from his muscles, feeling the knots melt away under his touch.
As you continued the massage, Carlos's body relaxed, and his mind became more at ease. The two of you watched the race replay on the television, analyzing every turn, every move, and every decision Carlos made.
It was a bittersweet moment as you both discussed the missed opportunities and what could have been done differently, but it also kind of brought you two closer together.
In that moment, Carlos realized that having someone who not only supported him but also understood his passion was truly invaluable.
"I think I should have attacked more at this turn," Carlos explained to you as he watched intensely at the way he drove on TV.
Suddenly he felt a sudden weight on his back and he peeked behind him to see you.
He couldn't help but smile at the sight of you peacefully slumbering on his back. The warmth of your body against his, coupled with the rhythmic rise and fall of your breath, brought about a sense of tranquility he hadn't felt in a long time.
Carlos gently shifted his position, careful not to disturb your sleep, and decided to stay in that moment a little while longer, relishing in the comfort and contentment of having you by his side.
As he continued watching the race replay, he couldn't help but feel a sense of warmth and contentment, knowing that he had found not only a passionate supporter but also a person with whom he could share quiet, intimate moments like this.
You woke up in your bed for the second time in a row without knowing how you even got there in the first place. Confused, you blinked your eyes open and looked around, trying to piece together how you had ended up in your bed again.
The memories of the enchanting evening with Carlos and the comforting massage flooded back, but the details of how you had transitioned from the couch to your bed remained elusive.
It was as if the night had taken on a dreamlike quality, blurring the lines between reality and imagination. . . .

It was the Spanish Grand Prix, and you had the privilege of attending with Carlos for the first time since you've been together.
As you watched from your seat in Carlos' car how the bustling crowd of racing enthusiasts were, you couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement. The vibrant red sundress you wore perfectly matched Carlos' spirited personality and love of speed.
You made your way to the entrance, the sun kissed your skin, and the adrenaline in the air heightened the anticipation of witnessing the roaring engines and exhilarating race. It was a moment you would never forget, a celebration of your shared passion and the beginning of many more thrilling adventures together.
As you two emerged from the car, his hand immediately touched your hips, guiding you through the paddock to the Ferrari garage.
As you walked through the crowded paddock, you couldn't help but notice the sea of red surrounding you. It seemed like everyone was wearing the team colors to show their support for Carlos and his racing team.
The vibrant red sundress you chose seemed to blend in perfectly with the atmosphere, making you feel like a part of the action. Carlos looked at you with a smile, appreciating the effort you had put into matching with him.
Occasionally, he would stop to sign autographs for his adoring fans. The anticipation surrounding Carlos was immense, as this was his home track and everyone expected a lot from him.
Before heading off to his meeting, you turned to him and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. Your words were filled with warmth and admiration. You assured him. "I'm proud of you, no matter what happens."
"Thank you Cariño." he said smirking at you.
As you watched Carlos prepare for his race, you realized that this time, you would stay by his side instead of wandering off or meeting up with Lily, as you had often done in the past. This time, you understood that he needed more support before this race even started.
Carlos' home track held a special significance for his performance. Not only did it come with a sense of familiarity and comfort, but it also brought with it the unwavering support of the local fans who had been cheering him on since the beginning.
The energy and encouragement from the crowd fueled his determination to push harder and achieve success in front of his home audience.
You watched as he checked his car with the team, catching him glancing up at you multiple times to see if you were still there. It was clear that your presence meant a lot to him, and you were determined to be his unwavering source of support throughout the race.
As the time approached for the race to start, Carlos took you into a private room. As Carlos pulled you into the private room, a sense of urgency filled the air.
With hungry, heated kisses, his lips passionately explored yours, igniting a fiery desire within you. His strong hands tightly gripped your hips, pulling you closer, as if he couldn't get enough of you.
His actions sent shivers down your spine and intensified your longing for him. In that moment, you realized just how much his presence and touch ignited a deep desire within you, making you crave more of his passionate embrace.
You felt a surge of desire and passion, fueled by Carlos' intense affection. The way he held you, kissed you, and expressed his need for you created an irresistible magnetism between the two of you, intensifying your own desire and emotions.
Then, with a final look, he disappeared, leaving you with a mixture of excitement and anticipation.
Minutes later, the roar of the engines filled the air, signaling the start of the race. Your heart raced as you awaited the outcome.
Carlos immediately shot off the starting line, his car a blur of speed and determination. He skillfully maneuvered through the pack, steadily gaining ground on the leaders. As the race progressed, it became clear that Carlos was in a fierce battle for first place with Max and Lando, exchanging positions and pushing each other to their limits.
The crowd erupted with excitement, their cheers fueling Carlos' determination to seize the coveted top spot. Lap after lap, he showcased his exceptional racing skills, executing daring overtakes and defending his position with unwavering focus.
The tension in the air was palpable as the race entered its final stages, and it became a nail-biting fight to the finish line.
And then, it happened. The crowd erupted in cheers as Carlos crossed the finish line, victorious. His car sped past, his smile radiating joy and triumph.
As soon as he stepped out of the car, his eyes immediately sought you out.
You melted into his embrace, savoring the taste of victory and the warmth of his touch. The crowd roared around you, but in that moment, it was as if you were the only two people in the world. Your hands were cupping his cheeks, feeling the roughness of his stubble against your palms, while his hands rested firmly on your hips, anchoring you to the present.
The electrifying chemistry between the two of you was undeniable, and as you looked into each other's eyes, you knew that this victory was not just his, but yours as well.
In that instant, the world seemed to stand still. All your worries and doubts were forgotten. All that existed was the connection between you two.
In that moment, a surge of overwhelming love and pride washed over you. Thoughts of all the sacrifices and challenges you both had overcome flooded your mind, and you couldn't help but feel an immense sense of gratitude for being a part of Carlos' journey to victory.
"I'm so proud of you!" You said loud enough for him to hear over the chants of his name across the platform.
"Thank you Cariño, thank you for supporting me throughout," Carlos said, unable to think straight with the amount of adrenaline coursing through his body.
As the cheers of the crowd continued to echo in your ears, you leaned in and pressed your lips against Carlos' once more, savoring the taste of victory and the sweetness of his kiss. It was a moment of pure bliss, a celebration of their shared triumph.
Reluctantly, you pulled away, knowing that Carlos had to go to the podium to receive his well-deserved trophy.
With a final lingering glance, you whispered, "Go get that trophy, my champion." And with that, he ran off, leaving you with a heart filled with love and pride. . . .

It was the afterparty for Carlos' home win and everyone decided to go to a large club to celebrate.
As the night unfolded, you emerged from the car in a stunning red cocktail dress that hugged your curves in all the right places. The dress featured a plunging neckline and intricate lace detailing, exuding an air of elegance and sophistication.
The silky fabric cascaded down to your knees, swaying gracefully with every step you took. Your outfit was completed with a pair of sleek stiletto heels and a statement clutch, adding a touch of glamour to your ensemble.
As you entered the club, heads turned and whispers of admiration filled the air. The dimmed lights of the venue illuminated the sequins and beads embellishing your dress, creating a mesmerizing sparkle that mirrored the excitement in the room.
As the night progressed, you found yourself drawn into a conversation with the partners of the Formula One drivers.
"We're so proud of Carlos, we can't believe he did it," Lily said proudly, giving you a tight hug.
"Thank you, I can't believe it too," You replied, smiling happily at the memory of Carlos winning a few hours ago.
"It seemed like you were like his main support," Lily teased and your cheeks heated at her words.
"That's- that's not true." You denied it, "I just gave him an encouraging word here and there. It was mostly him that did all the work."
"That's not what Carlos said in his interview," Alexandra said, nudging your shoulder with hers.
Wanting to be a responsible person, you volunteered to be the sober one among you and Carlos. You wanted to allow Carlos to fully enjoy himself without worries, knowing that you would drive him home at the end of the night.
However, the girls in the group had a different idea. They suggested taking shots to celebrate, and despite your reservations, you decided to join the festivities.
As the night went on, the DJ played infectious music, prompting everyone to get up and dance. You found yourself caught up in the rhythm, joining in with the vibrant atmosphere.
Suddenly the music was lowered and you followed everyone's gaze, and to your surprise, there was Carlos walking into the club, holding his trophy high in the air. The crowd erupted into applause, creating a sea of cheering fans.
He made his way through the crowd, making space for himself to pass through. The crowd cleared out, creating a path for him to be in the center, where everyone could see him.
As he stepped onto the stage, the entire club erupted into applause. The cheering echoed through the air, a testament to his dedication and hard work.
You watched from a distance as Carlos delivered his speech, thanking his fans and everyone who had supported him that day. His words were filled with gratitude and humility, and it was evident that he meant every word.
From where you were standing, you couldn't help but feel a sense of pride in Carlos. He had achieved something extraordinary, and you had the opportunity to witness his moment of triumph firsthand.
Suddenly, your attention was drawn to a man in the crowd. He seemed particularly interested in you, despite it being widely known that you were already in a relationship with Carlos.
"Hello señorita, are you alone here?" The man asked. Some of his words were slurred.
"Umm, I'm not actually, I came with my friends," You said, trying to look for anyone familiar that was close by to help you.
"Well I don't see them so it's only me and you," he muttered amused by you. Everyone was watching Carlos' speech which meant that no one was going to help you.
"I'm in a relationship," you tried to remind him but that got him more angry.
"Lies! Everyone knows that you and him are in a PR relationship." He yelled, smashing his fist on the table he was leaning on.
You jumped at his actions, wishing someone would look and help you but it was never the case. This left you feeling confused and frustrated, unsure of how to handle the situation.
Just as you were contemplating how to respond, you felt a presence by your side.
Just as you were contemplating how to respond, you felt a presence by your side. It was Carlos. He looked concerned for you but angry at the man flirting with you.
Carlos stood protectively beside you, sending a clear message that you were not alone and that he would not tolerate anyone disrespecting you.
He stepped forward, his voice firm as he said, "I think it's time for you to leave."
The man's confident facade faltered, realizing he had crossed a line. He stammered an apology, his words barely audible, before quickly scattering off into the crowd. Carlos, still standing by your side, maintained his protective stance, his eyes never leaving the man's retreating figure.
You felt a wave of relief wash over you, grateful for Carlos' unwavering support in that moment.
Carlos then stood in front of you, holding your hands in his, "Are you okay? Did he do anything to you?" he asked, his voice filled with genuine concern.
You shook your head, thankful that the situation didn't escalate further. "No, I'm okay. He was just being aggressive and disrespectful," you replied, feeling a mix of emotions.
Carlos squeezed your hands reassuringly, his eyes filled with a mix of anger and relief. "I'm glad you're safe. Let's stay together for the rest of the evening, okay? I won't let anything happen to you," he said, his protective nature shining through.
As Carlos guided you through the crowded room, his hands firmly on your waist, you couldn't help but feel a sense of comfort and security. It was as if he was determined to keep you close, not wanting to lose sight of you again.
You leaned into his touch, grateful for his presence and the way he made you feel safe in a world that had seemed so uncertain just moments ago.
Eventually, you found the rest of the group and shared with them what had happened. Concerned for your well-being, they all agreed to stick together for the rest of the night, ensuring that everyone felt safe and protected.
As the evening went on, you felt a sense of unity and support among your friends, and the initial fear and uncertainty began to fade away.
Together, you formed a tight-knit circle, laughing, dancing, and enjoying each other's company, grateful for the strength and solidarity you found in one another.
All the boys decided to let the girls let loose and have a few drinks, taking on the role of guardians for the night.
They made sure the girls were safe, monitoring their alcohol intake and ensuring they were comfortable and protected.
It was a gesture of care and respect, fostering an environment where everyone could have a good time without any worries.
"Babe," you whined, clinging onto your boyfriend so you wouldn't fall to the ground.
Carlos chuckled, his eyes filled with both surprise and amusement at your playful whining. He tightened his grip around you, refusing to let you slip off.
"Oh, so you're trying to escape, huh?" he teased, pulling you closer and planting a gentle kiss on your forehead. "Nice try, but I've got you. I won't let you fall, my love."
"Escape? Who said anything about escaping?" you replied with a mischievous grin, playfully swaying your body to the rhythm of the music.
Carlos raised an eyebrow, a playful challenge gleaming in his eyes. "Well, then show me your best dance moves, and maybe, just maybe, I'll let you off the hook," he teased.
As the romantic melody filled the air, you and Carlos locked eyes, the playful banter fading into a tender moment. With a smile, you surrendered to the music, allowing it to guide your movement.
As the music pulsed through your bodies, you let your inhibitions melt away and decided to be more flirtatious with Carlos. With a mischievous glint in your eyes, you began to sway your hips and grind your waist against him, teasing him with your seductive moves.
Carlos couldn't help but be captivated by your playful and alluring gestures, his eyes locked on yours, as the chemistry between you intensified on the dance floor.
The flirtatious energy in the air was palpable, as you whispered teasing promises in his ear, leaving him craving more of your touch.
"Mi amor, you better stop before you start something I won't stop," Carlos muttered into your ear, a playful warning laced with desire.
You laughed softly, feeling a surge of excitement at his words. "Oh, really? And what if I want to start something you won't stop?" you whispered back, your voice laced with a hint of seduction.
Carlos' eyes darkened with desire, his grip on you tightening ever so slightly. "Then, mi amor, be prepared for a night you won't forget," he replied, his voice low and filled with anticipation
He leaned in and his lips crashed against yours, his kiss lingering for a few moments. You felt your heart flutter and your stomach knot as you melted into him, your body responding to him as if on autopilot.
You felt a wave of warmth wash over you as you gave in to the moment.
The night unfolded in a blur of passion and desire. Your memory of the events that followed became hazy, fragmented, and ultimately, nonexistent.
All you knew was that you had surrendered to the intoxicating connection between you and Carlos, allowing it to sweep you away into a realm where time stood still and only the sensations of pleasure remained. . . .
Tumblr media
"Guys, we're going home," Carlos told the others while supporting you, his protective arm wrapped around your waist. As you stumbled slightly, still lost in the haze of passion, you couldn't help but feel grateful for his presence, knowing that he would take care of you every step of the way.
The night air was cool against your flushed skin as you stumbled towards Carlos' car. The events of the night replayed in your mind, a mix of excitement and contentment filling your thoughts.
As you settled into the passenger seat, you glanced at Carlos, a knowing smile passing between you.
As you fell asleep during the drive, Carlos carefully carried you into his house. His touch was gentle and protective. He laid you down on his bed, tucking you in with care before standing back to admire your peaceful form.
The events of the night had left you both physically and emotionally spent, and in that moment, Carlos couldn't help but feel a surge of tenderness towards you.
You woke up in a daze, your surroundings unfamiliar. Blinking away from the remnants of sleep, you realized you were in Carlos' bedroom. The soft morning light filtered through the curtains, casting a warm glow on the room.
Your heart skipped a beat as you remembered the events of the previous night and the intense connection you shared with Carlos.
As you tried to move, you were slowly pulled into an embrace from behind you, making you jump slightly. Turning around, you saw Carlos half asleep in the bed, shirtless.
Carlos' dark hair was disheveled and sticking up in all directions, a clear sign that he had just woken up. His usually neat and tidy appearance was now replaced by the unkempt look of someone who had been sleeping soundly.
Despite his sleepy state, Carlos' facial features were still prominent. His strong jawline and high cheekbones gave him a rugged, masculine appearance, while his deep-set eyes and furrowed brow suggested a pensive, thoughtful nature.
As Carlos stretched his arms above his head, the muscles in his upper body rippled beneath his skin. The defined contours of his chest and arms were a testament to his dedication to physical fitness, even as he fought against the lingering drowsiness of his slumber.
His tousled hair and sleepy expression only added to his allure, and you couldn't help but smile at the sight of him, feeling a flutter of warmth in your chest.
His eyes fluttered open, and a sleepy smile formed on his lips as he pulled you closer, whispering, "Good morning, beautiful."
"Did we do it?" You questioned shyly, unable to remember anything after they left the club.
"No, we didn't, you fell asleep before we could do anything," Carlos muttered, fighting against the sleep. "We wouldn't do anything either way, you were drunk."
As you remembered what you were doing in the club, you felt embarrassed and ashamed. The intense connection you shared with Carlos had clouded your judgment, and you realized that you were dangerously close to breaking the rules of the PR contract.
If you didn't stop, you knew that the consequences could be severe, jeopardizing not only your professional reputation but also your relationship with Carlos.
"Carlos, this was only supposed to be temporary, you know?"
"What is?"
"Our relationship."
Carlos then woke up more, resting up against his elbow so he could look at you better. His eyes slowly opened, and a soft frown spread across his face as he gazed at you. He reached out a hand, gently caressing your cheek, his touch warm and comforting.
“You’re talking about the PR contract?”
“Yes, this is what they were worried about, us getting too attached,” you tried to stress your concern but Carlos didn’t look bothered at all.
Carlos fully turned to you, a conflicted look on his face. "I know, I know. But I...I don't think I can just pretend anymore. Not with you."
Your heart raced as he inched closer, his warm brown eyes searching yours. "Carlos, we can't. It'll ruin everything if anyone finds out."
"I don't care," he whispered, cupping your face in his hands. "I'm tired of hiding how I feel about you."
And in that moment, any doubt you had melted away. You pulled him into a passionate kiss, all thoughts of the contract and the façade disappearing. This was real - the feelings you two had developed were undeniable.
His lips met yours with a fervent intensity, the heat between you palpable. All the unspoken emotions you had been harboring came rushing to the surface, igniting a fire within.
The world around you faded away as you lost yourself in his embrace, every touch sending electric shocks through your body.
In that passionate moment, there was no more room for hesitation or uncertainty. This connection you shared was undeniable, transcending any obligations or false pretenses.
It was real, raw, and overwhelming in the most intoxicating way. There was no turning back now - you had given yourself over completely to this man and the feelings you shared.
Whatever happened next, you knew you was in this with Carlos for the long haul. . . .

Reblogs are greatly appreciated !!
[ ###… ] modern AU, rockstar Wriothesley, gn reader, est. relationship, a lil bit of hurt/comfort, fluff, long-distance pining, lovesick & homesick wrio, kinda cheesy which is kind of on brand for me lol
Tumblr media
By the time Wriothesley manages to get back to his hotel room and check his phone, he's pretty sure you're asleep. He hopes you are, knowing how late it must be on your end.
It's no surprise that there are several messages waiting for him— each day you've been apart, you give him something sweet to read in the evenings after a busy day of promos or after a hectic show. Something to make the distance between you seem a little less vast, to let him know that you're still thinking about him.
Even on days where he's dead tired, he'll always read them. Always let you know that he thinks of you, too.
What does surprise him is the newest text, sent at just over twenty minutes ago. Wriothesley frowns as he wonders why you're still up, and his heart only drops more when he scrolls through the messages and reads the latest thing you sent.
I miss you. I really, really miss you.
Before he can even hope that he's not bothering you, his finger near slams on the call button. You answer on the second ring, voice lacking the raspiness of a roused sleep. It makes him sigh with relief.
"Wrio?" you ask, surprised. "Are you okay? What's up?"
"I should be asking you that." Wriothesley sits heavily on the plush bed, flopping back against the pillows with all the grace of a man who just gave a two-hour performance.
As luxurious as the king-sized bed is, with its soft sheets and myriad of immaculately fluffed pillows, he can't help but yearn for the warm familiarity of your own bed and your well-loved blankets.
"Why're you still up, honey? Don't you have breakfast with your friends tomorrow?"
"...can't sleep," you murmur after a beat, voice so quiet. He hears sheets rustling, then silence again. You hesitate. "I... it might sound selfish but I miss you being here with me. It sucks that the bed feels so empty without you."
And oh, if he could, Wriothesley would crawl through the phone right this very second and wrap you in his arms— would crush you to his chest and hold you tight as he listens to your breath taper off into sleep. Would keep you against him, wrapped up in his love and adoration, until you practically have to beat him off of you with a stick.
But he can't and it's killing him.
"It's not selfish. I miss you too," he says, voice longing. "I want to go home to you so bad, sweetheart, you have no idea. Wish I could've packed you up in my bag and smuggled you here with me." He has to fight sleepy giggles at the thought.
"Speaking of— you better be prepared for a crapload of gifts when I get back. I've got a whole suitcase of stuff I thought you'd like."
You gasp, and even sounding a little crackly from the speakers, his heart does a flip. "A whole suitcase?! I wouldn't even know where to put all that!"
"We'll find space. 'm pretty sure there's some stuff we can jigsaw around." Wriothesley tries to keep the tiredness from his voice, tries to fight back the yawn. It's been so long since you've called, what with timezones and schedules getting in the way, and he wants to talk to you longer— ask how your day's been, what your plans are for the rest of the week, if there were any places you want to visit when he gets home. This call is much too short for all the things he wants to say, for all the hours he wants to spend listening to you talk.
But try as he might, you can tell he's close to knocking out without even having to lay an eye on him.
"You should sleep," you tell him, voice soothing him like a balm. "You're probably tired after your show. I saw a few videos, you know— you were so cool. I'm proud of you, Wrio."
He hums, basking in your praise. His eyelids are already growing heavy, the soft siren's song of sleep growing harder to resist. If he closes his eyes, maybe he can imagine that you're just down the hall, busy with something. You'll come in any second now, crawl into bed and slip into his arms, and everything would be right with the world.
"Thank you for... for calling. For checking up on me just because of a text." You giggle at that last bit, and (as it always seems to do) his heart flips. "I love you lots."
"Mm, no need to thank me. Just gimme lots of kisses when I get home." His tongue is growing heavier, sleep more inviting. But he manages to get one last thing out— "I love you lots, too."
Right before Wriothesley lets himself drop, you press a loud, exaggerated kiss to the receiver of your phone. He smiles.
That's how you both fall asleep: with both phones still on the line, even breaths and quiet snores comforting the other into a restful slumber.

Princess-Posals
Bridget x Cheshire Cat!Reader
Synopsis: The first dance of your second year at Merlin’s Academy is approaching. You have yet to ask Bridget to go with you as more than just friends and are losing time fast.
@ludoesartandstuff this is for all of us girlies in love with Bridget!
Warnings: not much! You are going through it but like it’s not really angst. Not proofread.
1.8k words
~~~~~
Castle coming was around the corner. Y/n Cheshire, you, were preparing your princessprosal for Bridget. She had been your longtime crush and an even longer time friend. She was everything you wished you were and more. She was the sweetest, prettiest, most fun girl in all the realms. If you had one wish it was to be hers.
You had just one problem, managing to get the courage up to doing it was harder than you originally thought.
There was that time you wanted to just ask her but bailed because it wasn’t good enough for her.
Then that time when you prepared a song you would sing to her and then got sick.
There was that time you planned to bake her favorite dessert, unbirthday cake. But you lost track of time and burnt it too a crisp.
You were running out of options and time. What was worse was Ella knew of your whole debacle and was constantly teasing you about it.
This would be it, today was the day. You had to ask her. So you met up with her after first period. You had a love letter you wanted to personally deliver.
Just then Uliana and her gang of misfits came by, watching at you awkwardly stand there. You try hard to not make eye contact. It doesn’t help you though.
“Well what do we have here? Is the little kitty cat waiting for her owner? You’re pathetic. I have have a mind to return the favor for causing me so much trouble last year.” Uliana fakes you out, making you jump a little. It does not sound good. Then you see pink coming out of the corner of your eye.
“Let’s just say this wont be the last you see of us,” Uliana threatens before ripping the letter out of your hand and stuffing it into her pocket, “bye kitty witty.” She saunters away with her crew behind her and finally Bridget stands in front of you, a little worried by the shocked look on your face. So much for today being the day.
“Are you alright? I saw you talking to Uliana. You snap out of it with a forced smile.
“Oh, it’s nothing too bad, she just,” you fiddle with the hem of your top, “stole my homework. But it’s okay, I already had that class today so it’s been graded. 100!” You cheer while holding up jazz hands.
Bridget smiles softly, “Well yay! You’re lying though… why?” She squints her eyes.
“Okay, you got me! The homework was for next class and I now will most definitely am not getting a one hundred.” You cease the fidgeting, she’s always to good at noticing things, better to cut the self-sabotaging now.
She rubs your shoulders, “I’m sorry about that. Maybe we can bake something together later to make you feel better? Chuckle chocolate chipper chip cookies perhaps?” She wiggles her eyebrows making you giggle.
“I think I would like that,” you sigh in relief now you have an excuse to see her again. This time your plans will not be thwarted. But how? You’ve gone the poetic, musical, and tasty route, what else would be good enough for Bridget? You stand there staring at her again, getting lost in how beautiful her pink hair is, how white her teeth are despite the copious amounts of sweets she consumes and how perfect she smiles.
“Are you sure you’re okay Y/n?” She asks again. You nod. “I’m getting a little worried for you; you’ve been getting distracted more easily, letting Uliana pick on you when you usually would just turn invisible and run away, and you look a little tired every time we hang out. Which is a lot.”
You sigh, “It’s just… its- I… the dance is soon.” You end with really not wanting to elaborate. You really don’t want to let out anything else so you make the hard decision to skedaddle and turn invisible.
“Y/n Cheshire! You can’t runaway like that! I better see you after school!” She calls out, chuckling to herself despite the worry. She think she knows what’s going on now and she intends to help out.
You spent the rest of the school day tryna think of good ways to ask Bridget to go with you. You think you have it though.
Bridget had missed her home dearly, as did you. She had a passion for exotic tastes, her favorite being a rare wonderlandian truffle she left behind at her castle. She told you the day school started up again how devastated she was she forgot it. All you had to do was take an unauthorized trip to wonderland. Which would be laughably easy for you.
So you decided to slip out during your fourth period and left.
The woods were thick but you didn’t mind. You liked the outdoors. Before Bridget, trees were your best friends. You got close enough to the guards that you could see the sides of them from pretty far. You turn yourself invisible and slowly walk towards it.
Once close enough to them you pick up a rock and throw it the other direction. They whip around and start walking towards the sound it made. You start booking it towards the portal and make it, falling hard on the wonderland ground.
“Ouch” you mutter, turning visible. Thankfully wonderland doesn’t guard the portal. You get up, dusting yourself off. Then you head towards her castle which isn’t too far but you need to hurry if you want to make it to Bridget’s dorm in time.
You get into the castle by turning invisible once more and quickly find her room, thankfully easily. Her room is adorable with baby pinks everywhere and cookbooks galore. It’s like her dorm but even more her somehow. She has a recordplayer too. You remember listening to fun pop ballads with her.
You quickly find it in a box on her nightstand and put it in your pocket. You, still while invisible, leave and run back to the portal.
When you get back you realize you don’t know if you can stay invisible when you go through it. You take a deep breath and go in, feeling lightheaded but still managing to land on your feet.
“Hey!” A guard yells right next to you. Apperently the answer was no still.
You turn invisible and run even faster than when you ran to the portal. You manage to only trip once but lose them.
You are terribly out of breath because of the running but check the time and it reads that you are five minutes late! You gasp for air and again sprint to the school, managing to get there in an impressive 2 minutes from the edge of the woods. You knock on the door.
“Oh there you- are you okay? You don’t look very, um, good,” she awkwardly says, standing there with a cookbook in hand.
“Yeah I,” you inhale, “good. Just, can we maybe sit down for a second?” Your palms are a little sweaty and it’s not just cause of the running.
She grabs your hand and leads you to her bed. “Of course!” You sit next to one another.
“Thanks, sorry I’m late I had to… grab something.” You decide to go with that for now.
“It’s no problem, just maybe next time shoot me a text and not run a marathon.” She giggles. You smile. You nod and sit there in an admittedly awkward silence for a bit.
“Can I ask you something?” “Can I ask you something?” The both of you say at the same time. You both break down in giggles.
“Yeah, you go first,” you say, maybe you were stalling still.
“Uh, sure!” She surely looks insanely nervous which is kinda making you more nervous. “Well, even though last year was a little weird I loved castlecoming so much. Last year I wanted to do something but was too chicken and I’m gonna do it this year.” She pauses and you nod, rubbing her hands for support. She inhales, “Y/n Cheshire, would you be my date to castlecoming? Like not just as friends?” The wind is most certainly knocked out of you again and you kind of malfunction a bit.
“Y/n are you alright? If it’s a no that’s perfectly okay, you don’t have to feel like you have-“
“Yes! Oh my, Bridget that would make me the happiest in all of the realms! Can I- can I kiss you?” You ask, you feel your face warm. She doesn’t answer. But before you know it you feel your stomach explode with pixies and your heart leap out of your chest. Bridget’s soft pink lips touch yours and it has to be the best feeling in the world. You don’t mean to break the kiss but after a couple seconds you gasp.
“What what’s wrong?” Bridget says.
“No no no nothings wrong it’s just, I was planning to ask you too. I was gonna ask you like about two weeks ago but I chickened, and then that time I got sick I had planned a whole cheesy song out, I baked something for you and it got burnt another time, then I had written a poem for you but… but… that’s what Uliana stole today.” You chuckle awkwardly. You technically just admitted you lied to her.
“Wow… I I appreciate that you would do all those things but don’t worry, I don’t need anything big, just you. It is funny you were gonna ask though! I too was a little chicken recently. You are so sweet.” She says lovingly, her smile brighter than a thousand suns.
Then you dig in your pocket for the truffle and pull it out.
“I still managed to work something out. I went to wonderland to get that truffle so you could use it before it goes bad.” She grasps it out of your hand and looks at it in awe.
“So that’s why you were so out of breath! You seriously got this for me? You are- you’re just so amazing.” She pauses. “I know it’s soon but I feel in my heart that I love you, and I have loved you. I don’t know if it’s weird or not but I’ve loved you as a friend and it’s already become so much more. Thank you truly.“
“I love you too Bridget, have for a long time.” You answer. She grasps your collar and pulls you in for a deep kiss once more. This one lasts a lot longer. You both only break it for a second, where you two say I love you once more. The two of you laugh at the fact you said it at the same time. Bridget is truly the queen of your heart.
EVEN MORE SPOILERS FOR SEASON 6
I figured since I already read it, I'd give my thoughts on the recent interview Astruc and Thibaudeau took part in.
Due to incompatibility with the new animation engine, SAMG will not be working on the next seasons of ‘Miraculous’. The series is now being developed entirely in France, with the integration of Dwarf Animation.
Okay, props for no more outsourcing, even if I'm not sure what this means for the other ZAG shows.
Season 6 is considered to be “a new beginning”, aside from being a new story arc. It is sometimes referred to by the writers as Season 1.
I'm sure that isn't confusing to the executives at all. Also, maybe don't imply you're starting from scratch when you're already reusing the plot of the main villain using the Butterfly Miraculous.
The writing team already has concrete ideas for how Seasons 7, 8 and 9 will begin and end. They also have ambitions to make it to a Season 12, only if the support of viewers and executives allows them to do so. With this, they emphasize the fact that they would not continue with the show if it were no longer needed or interesting.
So basically, they're planning to keep this up for as long as they can until someone pulls the plug.
The opening of the sixth season is still undecided. They are still discussing whether they will change the musical arrangement or not. Thomas also considers the possibility of making a brand-new theme song. A song has been confirmed for S6. They have the music, the arrangement and a female singer. The character remains unknown.
Imagine how funny it would be if they brought back the woman who sang for Marinette in the movie instead of having Cristina Vee sing again.
Despite leaving Paris at the end of ‘Revolution’ (5x23), Chloé Bourgeois will return in Season 6.
youtube
Putting aside all the things I've said about her "damnation arc", what is even the point of bringing her back at this point? She has no powers, no influence, no allies, and isn't a threat of any kind. This makes her not being the next Hawkmoth make even less sense, becuse she has more of a reason to hate Ladybug than Lila does.
Also, with the news that Chloe is coming back, this means that she essentially escaped punishment or at least found a way to rebound like Lila did. So that's a grand total of ZERO villains who actually got punished for their actions after five seasons. I'm starting to think Ladybug and Cat Noir really suck at their jobs.
Sebastien Thibadeau: “[Cerise] (IOTA: I'm still calling her Lila for simplicity's sake) is a villain without costume. She is a villain all the time. There is a reason why, but this reason, neither I nor Astruc will reveal to you yet.” Interviewer: “You mean you already intend to tell it?” Thomas Astruc: “Yes. And you know what, we have already told it, but you haven’t noticed.”
Translation: Ladies and gentlemen, LET'S GET READY FOR RETCOOOOOONNNNS!
Seriously, we are approaching the sixth season of this show. It has been eight years since Lila first appeared all the way back in "Volpina", and we still know nothing about her other than the fact that she has some three moms for some reason. You can't pull the whole "This is something you need to rewatch to understand!" excuse because the last two seasons hinged on breaking the rules about Sentimonsters.
Speaking of, I love how this comment about Lila accidentally implies that Gabriel never did anything evil when he wasn't Hawkmoth/Shadowmoth/Monarch. All that emotional abuse and isolation Adrien suffered was all out of love!
Thomas Astruc on Chloe redemption arc: “We put the characters in situations, and then we say to ourselves: “what would be the logic?” How would the character logically react in “such and such” a situation? And we tried, we tried everything. But every time, we say to ourselves: “if we write this, it’ll be wrong”. There’ll be no reason, it’ll come out of nowhere, the fact that she’ll face something nice and say: “Oh, I’ve been horrible, Marinette what have I done! From now on, I’ll be...” No, nonsense. I understand people’s desire for Chloe to be nice. I’d like that too. But I’d like it if in real life, people with a lot of power suddenly started doing nice things. But Chloé has no interest in changing. She has no reason to change, unfortunately.”
Ah, yes because Gabriel (Global terrorist and abusive parent), Felix (Betrayed Ladybug and temporarily wiped out all of humanity on a whim), Nathalie (Willing accomplice to Gabriel) Andre (corrupt politician and Chloe's primary enabler), Sabrina (Willing accomplice to Chloe) all had compelling reasons to change their ways.
Also, "I've been horrible, what have I done?"
MY BROTHER IN CHRIST, THAT'S HOW VIRTUALLY EVERY REDEMPTION ON THIS SHOW IS EXECUTED.
The fact that he's seriously acting like he actually wanted to write a redemption arc is insulting. Not only does it ignore all the things he's said to fans who were upset at the turn of events, but it makes no sense for him to take this stance because he's a writer. If Chloe turning a new leaf is too strange of an idea, then write an actual character arc allowing her to progress to a state where she recognizes what she's done is wrong. You control the character for God's sake! It's not like you're training a dog to stop humping the couch. You can change things to make a redemption arc possible.
In other words, Astruc is either lying to save his ass, or THIS IS WHAT THOMAS ASTRUC ACTUALLY BELIEVES about writing characters.
Sebastien Thibadeau talks about Andre's character development: In contrast to Chloe, “Andre Bourgeois evolved as a character because we had already imagined a back story. He had the potential to change, and that’s where the beautiful scene comes from — I think it’s magnificent — between Gabriel and himself on the roof of the Grand Palace, where he says: “But Gabriel, what’s become of us? We’ve forgotten the kids we used to be”. But we [writers] know what kids they used to be, and we’d like to tell the story one day, to show what young kids they were, when they were struggling through Paris and weren’t yet what you’ve come to know in the series. He’s sad about what’s happening to his daughter [Chloe], and he’s trying to change it, but he can’t. He is proof that a character can change.”
This. This right here is what cinched it for me. I've tried for years not to say it because it's a word that has been flung around a lot over these last few years, but I feel like this little snippet is enough of a reason for me to say it.
These writers are sexist.
They may not believe it, but whether they intended for it or not, they wrote a story arc where a grown man was shown to have more sympathetic qualities than his daughter. How the hell can you defend it in a way that doesn't highlight the misogyny that this show runs on?
The fact that they gush over how much "potential" Andre had right after saying how that same kind of potential wasn't enough of a reason to attempt a redemption arc with Chloe really shows how confusing their priorities are. I'm sorry to keep saying this, but for a show that takes a heavy anti-capitalist philosophy, it seems like the members of the 1% are the characters who get the most depth and sympathy... unless you're under 18 and lack a Y chromosome, that is.
A meeting will be set up in the coming weeks to decide on whether or not to make a live-action for ‘Miraculous’, Thomas Astruc reveals.
As a former Arrowverse fan, I'm willing to see this out. Not only did the Netflix One Piece series prove you can make an animated property work in live-action, Ladybug & Cat Noir: The Movie managed to do really well even without the usual writers behind it.
Thomas when asked about Gabriel’s wish in ‘Re-Creation’ (5x26) and whether he brought Emilie back to life: “All the answers are in the episode.”
For the love of--STOP SAYING THAT!
You keep claiming that we just need to rewatch the episode to understand things, but between the continuity errors and abandoned subplots, it's hard to tell what's important and what isn't. Either say "No comment" or give us an honest answer.
If people are still confused about how the season ended after almost a year, and you keep giving answers like this:
Tumblr media
Maybe you need to change the way you tell the story.
Astruc when asked about ‘The Supreme’: “Oh, if only you knew... Nothing we do is meaningless.”
Tumblr media
Sebastien Thibadeau on Season 7: “Once you’ve seen the start of season 7, I can swear you’ll watch season 6 a second time. That’s all I can say.”
Because it'll make Season 6 look like a masterpiece by comparison?
Thomas Astruc on the worldbuilding: There are Kwamis and Renlings, what makes you think there aren’t others [creatures]?
I swear, by the time we get to Season 10, we're going to get stuff like aliens, demons and talking mushrooms, or at least something ludicrous like that.
Zoe had a love at first sight when she met Marinette in ‘Sole Crusher’ (4x07), they confirm.
Of course! That's why it wasn't framed any differently from something like the umbrella scene and Zoe showed absolutely no signs of attraction to Marinette! It's genius!
Executives had Thomas write several alternative concepts for ‘Miraculous’, very different from what we know today or even the early PV. Among them, “a concept where Ladybug is the head of a group of superheroines, like Sailor Moon. There was no love story.”
Can you imagine a world without the Love Square?
Tumblr media
The script writers’ favorite episode is ‘Simpleman’ (4x19) as it represents a personal, work and family attachment. Marinette’s grandfather, Roland Dupain, is inspired by Thomas Astruc’s grandfather.
Okay, either Astruc had a complicated relationship with his grandpa or he's been dead for years. While I understand that older generations have outdated views (for example, my great-grandmother yelled at me for saying I wanted to learn Japanese because "They tried to kill us!"), the fact that a caricture of a grumpy old man was based on his grandpa is a little concerning.
Also, between this and Sabine being based off an old flame of his, this only makes the theory that Chloe is based off a real person Astruc knew more plausible.
Astruc: “This is why our work is so difficult. We have to manage to bring in this generation of younger ones, and at the same time, we have to satisfy the generation that was here before and that grows with the series.”
First, if you're trying to please older fans, maybe don't get into fights with them on Twitter.
Second, you made a thread after "Simpleman" aired where you insulted fans for not getting the "meta" element to the episode and compared them to the character you just said was based on your grandfather.
Tumblr media
You've also been burning away a lot of the older fans' goodwill over the years. Trust me, I have a few examples.
Despite sharing a similar appearance, the symbol on Nino’s T-shirt is not related to Hack-San.
Okay, is this a fan theory I missed back when Season 4 was airing? Why would anyone draw that conclusion?
Thomas Astruc talks about Season 6: “I’ll say it sincerely, I was very doubtful at the end of Season 5. I said to myself: “if we were to continue, how would we exceed?” Well, we did. It’s been a great season. The new writers have brought us a lot of great stuff. All the episodes we’ve written in Season 6 are fabulous. Each episode is on point, there is no unnecessary lines. All the scenes are really interesting, really well-crafted.”
Translation: Tons of filler, bad comedy, reused Akumas, and more Love Square drama that we're trying to claim hasn't been done before.
Thomas when asked if Marinette will get akumatized: “We never give any information about what may or may not happen.”
JUST. SAY. NO. COMMENT.
There are many important details throughout the series that no one has noticed. Thomas says that when we see the next seasons, we’ll think, “Oh, the writers had it all planned.”
You know, like how Season 3 established that Sentimonsters can be sent out of control by Cataclysm a few episodes before Adrien, a Sentimonster, gets hit by a Cataclysm and is affected in a different way. It was all planned from the beginning.
The Ladybug PV was an animation test and was not intended to be public. Jeremy Zag decided to leak it himself.
Honestly? Dick move on Zag's part. You have to wonder how pissed off Astruc was.
According to Thomas Astruc, what the ‘Miraculous’ series is today represents only 5% of what he wrote in the original bible he presented to Jeremy Zag. “The universe has evolved a lot since. I don’t know if the ideas I put there will be reused someday. It was very extensive.”
Tumblr media
Thomas Astruc and Sebastien Thibadeau discuss the parallels between Marinette and Gabriel: Astruc: “Gabriel’s personal back story is the cause of his misery, not his will. And above all, it creates a beautiful mirror with Marinette, which is what’s interesting. They both have a lot of love for Adrien, they’re both designers, they both have a Miraculous, but it’s other choices.” Thibadeau: “That’s what makes it a great hero-villain contrast. Even if they don’t know it from the start, they have a real point in common. As we see at the end of Season 5, they both love Adrien. Except there’s one who does it by doing the right thing, and then there’s another who does it by doing the wrong thing, hurting people, to get there.”
And the one who did the wrong thing by hurting people ended up winning. What does that say about the contrast?
------------------------------------------------------------------
And that's it for the interview. I have to say Season 6 does not look pretty so far.
CRAZIER, JEREMIAH FISHER.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A/N Thank you so much for your request, sweetheart. <3
I really got butterflies writing this, I can't believe it.
The name of the fic is because I was listening to that song while writing this.
PAIRING Jeremiah Fisher x Fem!Reader
TW/TAGS Pure fluff, established relationship.
SUMMARY You and Jeremiah have been in a relationship for a year now, both going more stable than ever, he decides it's time to take the next step.
REQUESTS ARE OPEN | JEREMIAH'S MASTERLIST | MASTERLIST
There was this day where Jeremiah woke up more affectionate than usual. And he was always affectionate with you.
The two of you have known each other your whole life, since your mother, Christine, Laurel and Susannah had always been best friends.
You grew up with the Fishers and Conklins. And while Susannah entrusted Conrad to Belly, she entrusted Jeremiah to you.
She said you were the one for her sunshine boy.
And that's what you did, you took care of Jeremiah's heart and soul as if they were your own, which led him to fall in love with you and you started dating.
That was at least a year ago, if not longer. Returning to the present it was summer, everyone was at the summer house, the day was starting and Jeremiah was already all over you.
His head on your chest so you could caress his hair while he hugged you around the waist. His eyes were closed and her legs were tangled between yours. All on top of you, pinning you to the mattress so you couldn't leave his side.
And you really didn't plan on doing it.
Until Conrad went to get you out of your love nest.
"Hey lovebirds, breakfast is ready." he announced and then left the room. Jeremiah groaned with his face now hidden in the crook of your neck.
"Let's stay here," he murmured tightening his grip on your waist. "forever."
"That's what I want the most, but I'm afraid that if we don't go down now my mother will come for us to get us off our ears."
He complained again getting up from the bed and stretching out his hand for you to take it.
When you got up, he hugged you from behind, resting his chin on your shoulder, letting you lead him into the kitchen.
"Good morning." Susannah greeted with a wide smile looking at the two of you. He was really glad that the two of you were together.
In addition to the fact that the reason for her smile was one that you didn't know.
You sat next to Jeremiah at the kitchen breakfast nook and both ate in peace.
That same afternoon you had returned from shopping with Belly and Taylor since both had insisted that they wanted to buy some dresses and they convinced you to buy one yourself.
"Where is Jeremiah?" you asked your mother who was with Laurel in the living room, she having a coffee while the other was typing something on her computer.
"He said he was coming in a while, don't worry." She nodded and you sighed going up to your room.
When you left, Laurel and your mother looked at each other knowingly, also knowing what was going to happen that night.
Later that day, once again the girls convinced you to get ready, put on makeup and do your hair because they 'felt like it' even though they hid the real reason from you by disguising it so you wouldn't find out anything.
"You look beautiful." Belly flattered smiling when she finished doing your hair.
"Never mind that she looks beautiful, she looks super hot." Taylor said, making you both laugh.
"How about we go for a walk on the beach?" the brunette offered as Taylor nodded her head.
"Dressed like that? I don't think so, I'm going to change and let's go." before you could move they both exclaimed a 'no' confusing you even more. "Okay girls, you always act weird but this time it's too much."
"It's just that I saw that there's a party on the beach and we're going to it, besides we're not so formal, they're casual dresses." the blonde shrugged and Belly nodded. When they convinced you, you agreed sighing.
You saw Taylor wrote something on her phone but you brushed it off.
"Good!" Each of them linked their arm with one of yours, each one being at your sides.
"Tonight will be unforgettable, I promise."
How correct was Taylor.
When you entered the beach you frowned not seeing any party on the beach.
"Where's the party, Tay?"
"We're almost there, wait." She tapped your arm twice and you kept walking.
Just when you were about to complain again, you saw something in the distance. You narrowed your eyes to get a better look and you could see... Jeremiah? What was he doing there?
And then you looked at the whole scenario.
The warm lights that shone where he stood. Along with Laurel, Susannah, Steven, Conrad and your mother. Jeremiah was standing in the middle of all of them.
And then you started connecting all the dots, but there was still something that didn't add up.
"Come on." Belly added smiling, leading you to where your whole family was.
When you got to where the others were, they left you in front of Jeremiah.
"You are welcome." Taylor commented making Jeremiah smirk.
Your face was totally a puzzle. And then Jeremiah took a deep breath, looking directly into your eyes and took your hands in his.
"I had a whole speech prepared but you look so stunning that you have left me speechless." he started by making you laugh softly and you heard some light giggles from the others. He took another breath of air, compose himself to be able to order a little everything he wanted to tell you.
"You've always been my favorite person, always, the only one I wanted to share my toys with when we were kids," you grinned at the memory, it was true. "The only one with whom I wanted to share my most deepest secrets and dreams." Your heart began to beat at an accelerated rate, and you waited for him to continue talking.
"And now I know that you're the only one I want to share the rest of my life with." when he said that suddenly everything stopped, even your heart. "I know that we are young, that we have a lot to live for, a lot to go through, but I know that I want all this together with you. With you I can be myself, with you I have everything. Everything I was looking for in a person I found it in you without even trying. You are the kindest, prettiest, funniest person I know. I want this to be eternal, for us to be eternal."
"So," he took a small box from the inside pocket of his jacket and bit your lower lip to keep from crying. Seeing him kneel in front of you. He opened the box letting you see a ring in it. "Will you marry me when we finish college?"
"Yes, Yes, Yes!" You exclaimed, nodding, and he rose to gently take your hand and put the ring on you.
He took your cheeks while you cradled his face in your hands to kiss him slowly, enjoying the moment.
When both parted, the mothers congratulated both of you, but especially Susannah and your mom.
"I know you will both be very happy." Susannah said caressing your face and once again you felt like crying, you hugged her tightly and she hugged you.
"Thank you so much."
When everyone congratulated both you, y'all returned to the house and when you and Jeremiah were in his room he kissed you again.
"You don't know how long I wanted to do this." he murmured joining his forehead with yours.
"I'm glad you already did."
a/n - guys it looked longer than it is i promise
also the bolded parts during the concert means its the song lyrics, also i love this song
-----------------------------------
-----------------------------------
the bustling noises of a busy kitchen fill my ears as i hear people shout and flames crackle. “so i think i'll have a sweet tea and a number 6 please.” i ask the waiter as she takes my order.
“of course ma’am and for you?” cadence’s eyes swept over the whole menu again before speaking.
“lemonade and a number 2 please!” the waiter nodded towards us and walked off to the kitchen.
“hey are you busy tonight? i’m free and have nowhere to go, was hoping you knew about a party or something later.” i knew cay would know about any parties happening tonight, she was an epic journalist and worked for the editorial company i was at.
“hm, come to think of it, no, i don’t think so. didn’t get an invite, i guess all the famous people are taking a break from being bitchy and petty.” i laugh at her statement about the rich and famous, we’ve met countless celebrities and models and almost all of them were like cay said, bitchy and petty.
“come onnnn the one night i'm free from work and there’s nothing happening.” i drop my head dramatically on the table, careful not to hit the ketchup and mustard.
“well….” cadence trailed off.
“well what???” i almost break my neck looking up at her.
“i mean i saw a poster for this band, and they are playing at pacific square if you wanna go watch it, im down if you are.” cadence offered.
“a concert? im not sure, i mean if the guys are cute” i joked.
“ouh girl, i sure can tell you they are so hot.” she pulls out her phone looking through her photos. she taps on it and shows it to me. oh shit. they were really hot.
the one thing that cay forgot to mention was that the band that was playing in our home town was starsturns. “WAIT! you mean starsturns is playing here??”
“okay, im convinced, i think i just found my husband.” i practically threw cay’s phone back to her, feeling a small piece of drool develop on the corner of my mouth looking at the drummer.
“show starts at 8 i’ll be at your house with the uber.” cay says slipping her phone back into her pocket
“holy shit i can’t believe we are going to see starsturns!!!”
the ding of a bell goes off and we see the waiter sway towards us with our plates of food. i guess i have plans tonight.
------------------------------
getting to the venue was a little troubling due to the death inducing trafic we were stuck in but cay is very much a hardass so when we did get to the venue she shoved her way to the front.
“move your asses, two super fans over here!!!” cay’s enthusiasm scares people which lets us pass through sort of easily.
being right at the rails that has to be only a metre away from the stage gets me riled up, we hear the curtains draw and and the stage lights get low.
the sun just started to set and the neon flashes of their large stage lights flicker at the audience. the leader singer and lead guitarist chris looks behind him peering over his shoulder to the audience. the girls yelled and shouted, he was definitely a lady killer.
chris began strumming his guitar in a steady pace as his brother nick, on the bass, keeps a steady beat emerging from the shadows.
a slow rhythm on the drums begin to build up, slowly getting faster and with each tap of the snare the lights get brighter, and brighter.
matt is revealed to the fans in such an epic way as the fans, including me and cadence goes crazy.
the crash of matt’s cymbals begins their set list as their first song begins.
time seemed to have lasted forever as they now have moved to a couple of slower songs that are more lyric focused. i throw my head back as i belt the lyrics living in pure harmony. this was my favourite song and i wanted to soak up every moment.
chris noticed and waved a hand towards cadence and i letting security know to let us onto the stage. i shake cadence to snap her out of her little trance and yank her to the small stairs that lead up the stairs, a smile graces chris’ face as we run up to him.
cay takes his hand as he spins her around, i stand back trying not to get hit by her long hair. i try to cover my mouth as i giggle a little seeing her have her moment with her favourite group member. i start skipping around the stage still keeping up with the song soon coming up to nick as he keeps his eyes on me as his bass still continues strumming.
i lock eyes with matt, coming over to the back of his drum kit and wrapping my arms around his neck,
“i dont wanna lose you now,
im looking right at the other half of me”
i sang my heart out as i hug matt while he kept his hand and foot trained on the instrument. he detaches the mic that was for his vocals and passes it to me, im a little shocked by his action but understand what he wants from me.
i take the mic and start to sing.
“show me how to fight for now,
and i tell you baby it was easy”
i felt alive. my idols and i sing this song with our hearts. i belt and add accents to my voice and really feel myself in the song. i bring the mic down to matt as we both sing into the mic as chris and matt begin to chant “you are, you are the love of my life” underneath my vocals letting me take the lead on the song.
“you are my reflection, and all i see is you”
the song ends and i’m panting from using an excessive amount of air for singing and from prancing around. matt and my eyes never leave each other caught up in the moment.
“give it up to y/n and cadence for singing this song with us!” chris yells into the mic. he holds up his signature rock n’ roll sign showing it to the fans, “thank you guys for coming out here tonight! love you all, have a good night!” with the last echo of his message to the fans the curtains move down and everything but the crowd lights turn off, still providing light for those going home.
i hop down from matt’s little stage leaving the microphone i’ve been using on a table that was next to matt and meet up with cay at the front of the stage.
cay was engaged in a conversation with nick and chris, talking to them like they’ve been friends since forever.
“oh my gosh, thank you for letting us up on stage like that chris!” i knew cay was fangirling underneath her cool calm and collected front.
don’t get me wrong, chris is very attractive, but simply not my type. i didn’t feel as strongly about him as i did with matt.
“oh come on you guys are great singers! especially you y/n.” chris says as i walk over, i feel a wave of embarrassment wash over me with that compliment.
“ah- thank you but it’s getting late, cay call an uber i’ll meet you by the gates in a second, just gotta run to the bathroom.
i pat my pockets checking for my phone that wasn’t there. i make a quick run to matt checking his whole set up for it. when i pick it up i immediately get caught in someone’s hand.
matt’s muscular hand grips my bare arm causing all my attention to look up to the man above me. “hey,” his voice is lower so his brothers don’t hear. “we are staying at a hotel tonight then sightseeing tomorrow, we’ll be in town for a night or two. we thought we’d visit our parents and take in the home town scene again before we travel again. was wondering if you wanted to come with me to our hotel.”
“you can come to my house-“ i blurt out. “m-more privacy and it’s not that far from here or whatever your hotel is. i can get you back there just in time for your brothers to wake up…”
“ah, sounds like a plan, we just gotta take our equipment to our bus then i’ll meet you there, how does twelve sound?” he nods understanding my intentions.
“uh yeah! sounds good, wait lemme give you my numb-“
“oh doll, don’t worry about that, gotta be a little careful with who you leave your phone around,” he winks as his grip on me loosens and falls.
i almost ran out of the venue, finding cadence and the uber waiting outside on the street. “girl come on!” she waves me in letting the uber driver know where we were going.
i close the door behind me gripping my hands very hard on my phone. cay rests and hand atop mine and looks at me with concern. “hey, what’s up?”
“matt just- matt- matt invited me to their hotel.. but now we are meeting at my house at twelve.” my eyes are trained on the headrest in front of me.
“YOU WHAT, HE- HE WHAT????” cay starts freaking out as much as i would’ve if i hadn’t been in such a state of shock.
“yuuuup,” the uber slows down getting stopped close to my house. “i have his number in my phone, he said he was going to come when i text him my address.” i open my car door seeing as we’ve stopped right in front of my house.
“all the details tomorrow morning at work !!” she yells as i exit the car, waving thank you to the driver from outside the car i walk to my house to finally freak out.
WHAT THE FLYING FUCK was i doing?? no way am i about to have a one night stand with the drummer of sturnstars, one of my favourite bands
i pull my phone out of my pocket to see a new contact that was put in named “hot drummer” with a new number.
y/n
you shared your location with “hot drummer”
hot drummer (matt s)
otw!
not too long after i hear the doorbell ring throughout my house and i quickly rush to my front door. taking a deep breath in and out i push down on the large handle seeing matt on the other side of the door.
matt leans on the side of my door frame looking as delicious as ever. “hey” a smirk grows on his face as he scans my body. the black cropped long sleeve i was wearing was getting clawed at by my long done up nails. my skirt was barely covering my ass and showed a lot of my legs.
he looked at me like i was his last meal. he launches himself off the door frame as i take him by the hand, leading him to my bedroom.
he looks around at the posters on the wall, one including their old tour one. his finger glides across the arctic monkeys and slipknot ones.
“so you're a fan?” he asks coming to sit next to me.
“yeah you could say that, i’m not crazy tho, some girls are worse. if i’m being honest i didn’t even know you guys were coming here.” i say truthfully
“so if i do this,” he leans and kisses me, sparks fly in my stomach. “you’ll be okay with it.”
“and if this happens,” his hand undoes the clasp and zipper on my mini skirt, “you’ll be okay with it?”
his lips touch mine as i help him moves my skirt down to the floor as i hold the hem of his shirt pulling to take it off. my long sleeve and bra meet the floor not too far after matt’s shirt.
he manoeuvres on top of me now pressing his raging hard on top of my heat. “please matt,” i say in a whiny voice, feeling more anxious and excited.
“please what princess?” he teases.
“please fuck me,” my hand snakes to the nape of his neck as i pull him in for a kiss. his fingers clad with rings, slip into my panties as he makes cold contact with his thumb onto my clit, my eyes roll back feeling him circle around my hole before plunging in.
“oh- god matt please don’t stop,” i moan feeling him pump in and out of me. a familiar knot builds and snaps quickly due to the constant stimulation.
“mhh, come on babe, give it to me” i squeeze around his fingers hard before i cum all over his fingers. “good job baby, you did so well, you ready for me?” i nod frantically as he sticks his fingers into my mouth for me to taste myself, letting me such on his two fingers while he tugs on my panties making the small fabric keeping the whole thing together come unloose.
he's quick to undo his cargo pants letting the baggy material fall, and he tugs down his boxers letting his length spring out. i
“what the fuck, that is not going to fit in me?!?” he laughs at my surprise, pumping up and down on his monster dick.
“hey, i’ll take it slow, tonights ‘bout you.” he says hovering over me, “just tell me if it’s too much, alright?” he lines himself up and just puts the tip in, i arch my back in ecstasy feeling so full already.
“fuck, matt keep going.” he takes this as an invitation to push all the way in. my moans only become more airy as he gets deeper and deeper.
he gets more confident in his movement and keeps a steady pace, he lifts my leg, folding it by my knee, letting him hit a new spot.
“mhhh, matt don’t stop.” his pace is steady with him constantly hitting my g-spot, “i-i-”
i couldn’t even get my sentence out before i completely collapsed underneath his arms, letting myself go. “you did such a good job pretty girl, can i cum in you?”
“YES, yes matt please!” a slight feeling of overstimulation washes over me as matt grunts and shoots his load into me, falling onto my bed next to me.
“ah, come on, let's get cleaned up. nick and chris are gonna be wondering where i am.”
who knew, maybe dating a drummer isn’t that bad.
boyfriends - e.b
Tumblr media
summary: after dealing with her boyfriend for years, she finally decides to end things with help from buck.
evan buckley x reader
based on the song boyfriends by harry styles :))
a/n: guys i’m on s5 and what the duck is happening. also pretend ravi has been there for longer bc i literally love him
the table was set with thin candles and ceramic plates under a maroon tablecloth. there were light rain noises coming from outside, calming the room with the dim lights. the aroma of homemade pasta and white wine was filling the room. dressed in her neat jean skirt and black top, y/n sat in one of the chairs at the table.
the door unlocked and swung open with an aggressive stomping coming in with a swaying man. “hey, princess! sorry i’m late i was just busy.” slurring his words together, he walks over as she stands up.
“i thought you were at work.” she states, quietly. she’s confused as he should smell like an office, but instead radiates a busy bar and whisky.
“oh, the guys wanted to go out, sorry about dinner,” he says, slumping on the couch.
“i planned this whole thing, cam. you really couldn’t blow them off for one night?”
“it was just dinner! it’s not like we didn’t have food here.”
“yeah, food for us, that i made for you!” she starts getting annoyed but it’s impossible to argue with a drunk person. “it’s fine, i’ll just take it to work.” clearly annoyed, she pulls the plates out and clears them off into tupperware.
“well don’t be pissed at me because i wanted to hang out with the boys,” he says, his words barely making sense. she doesn’t fight back, knowing he won’t even remember this in the morning.
“go to bed, cameron.” y/n says, before entering the bathroom and shutting the door behind him.
————————————————————————
dressing for work, y/n wakes up to throw on her uniform. she gathers her things to prepare for another long shift at the 118, and she notices his keys gone, along with his work belongings.
she walks out the door after grabbing the leftovers she had spent hours preparing for someone who spent hours not caring. she walks into the station to be greeted by her real family.
“hey, y/n!” eddie says, organizing one of the trucks with buck.
buck gives her a sweet smile, noticing the abnormal lack of excitement on her face. she walks over and talks to them a bit, drained of energy but still ready to force herself through the day.
as much as she didn’t want to leave her apartment, being at the station felt more of a warm welcome. stepping in through the garage doors, the cold air from her apartment and life outside had evaporated.
the team goes upstairs to the kitchen, as bobby is making coffee for everyone. y/n leaves her extra food on the counter to show people.
“what’s all this from, y/n?” bobby asks. “you didn’t have to bring this.”
“oh, it’s just my l-“ she cuts herself off. “i made this to bring to you guys. i made the pasta myself.”
“it’s delicious!” buck says, a mouthful of pasta and covering his mouth. he tries to lighten her mood after seeing directly through her lies.
he had met cameron before, never really being a fan of him. she’d brought him to one of the gatherings, and he spent the whole time ignoring her existence, and then getting mad at her for being upset. he knew she deserved better, and honestly, he thought, she deserves him. he wanted to help her, but didn’t want to cross the line and help where he wasn’t needed.
“really, buck? couldn’t even heat it up?” hen asks, slightly disappointed but expecting nothing else from him.
they all walk away back to their own chores around the station, as bobby stays in the kitchen. “hey, y/n!” buck runs up behind her.
“yeah? you ok?”
“that’s… kinda my question to you.” he stutters a bit. “it’s just- just wanna make sure everything’s okay, you don’t seem as… bright and bubbly as normal.”
buck and y/n had been friends for a long time, knowing how each other felt all the time. they were able to connect with one another so easily, and buck knew that something was wrong with her. he missed her happy mood, that seemed to have faded away more with every shift.
“oh, i’m fine, buck.” she smiles. “it’s just been a lot of work and sleeping, and repeat.”
she lies to him again about cameron, even though he knows the truth. “y/n/n, come on. don’t lie to me.”
“what?” she peeps out.
“talk to me, please.” he begs her to open up because he just wants to make her feel better. “is it cam?”
“n-no, buck. stop, it’s fine.”
that answer alone told him everything he needed to know. he doesn’t know all the details of their relationship, but it’s almost like cam pretends they aren’t even in one.
y/n doesn’t know why she defends him so much, or why she sticks up with it. she’s hoped things will change for a while, but usually nothing looks up. she loves him, she does. at least she thinks so. she provides so much for both of them, and has put in so much energy to their relationship, only for broken promises in return. she has hope that the time she’s put in was worth it, but every day when she goes home to him it becomes weaker. being a first responder, she wants to help everyone she can. she wants to be able to fix their relationship and she wants to feel valued, for once. people tell her all the time how she saved them, and she so badly wants him to realize that everyone needs to be saved. she’s given him the world, and it’s not long before she takes it all back.
“i know it’s not. i’m here for you, and if he’s not good to you i’m gonna be-“
“buck, just drop it! i’m doing the best i can!” her voice raises in defense, and he pulls her into the locker rooms. “im drained from this relationship, right now and i cannot get into this with you right now. this is my only escape, evan.” her light tears form in her eyes before her breathing becomes sharper. the other workers look at them, but with death stares from hen, chimney, and eddie they look away. they’re listening too, they never really liked him either but figured it was none of their business. it hurts to see their friend in this situation.
“i know, it’s gonna be ok.” he pulls her into a hug in hopes to calm her down. “you didn’t make that for us, didn’t you?”
“no, i made it for him. then he came home completely wasted and told me not to make a big deal out of it. i spent my one day off making this big ass dinner for him, and he couldn’t even take a minute to say thank you.”
“look at me, y/n.” buck pulls away and places his hands on your shoulders. “it is not your fault he’s not good enough for you. he is not. good. enough.”
“no,” she whispers.
“yes,” he says. “you deserve better than what he’s giving you.”
she shakes her head and his heart breaks more. there is no way that he has given her so much shit that she doesn’t believe it’s his own fault. the tears come stronger and run down her damp cheeks. “i can’t just leave him, buck. i cant hurt him like that because some part of me still loves him.”
“i know, but it is for the better.”
“i don’t think i have the power to end things. he wouldn’t listen to me and i can’t bring myself to break his heart.” she cries.
“you need to leave him before he breaks yours any more than it already is.” y/n calls back into his chest, and he sits her down on the benches. his own eyes are becoming glossy at the pain of watching his best friend have to deal with this. he’s had his own fair share of bad relationships, but they never meant anything because he is scared of this happening. it hurts his heart to know that she’s been carrying herself through this relationship as he’s just been more weight on her shoulders.
————————————————————————
the door of the apartment swings open again, as usually. surprisingly, the smell of liquor doesn’t hit y/n’s nose. cameron walks in, placing his bags on the floor by the door. “y/n?”
“y/n? where are you?” he calls out again and she makes her way out of the bedroom. “hey, you. did you make dinner?”
“no.” she says, maintaining eye contact.
“o-oh? we don’t have leftovers?”
“no, cameron. i took them to the station.” she says. “you would remember i told you that, but you were too drunk to remember.”
“what are you talking about, y/n? i went out for drinks, i don’t know why you have to be so bitchy about it.” she’s made her decision to leave, but the names still sting inside.
“well, you don’t have to deal with it anymore.”
“what the hell is that supposed to mean? youre not actually leaving me.” he let’s out a patronizing chuckle at her words, but she stands her ground.
“i am leaving you, cameron. my stuff is in my car, and we are over.” she doesn’t move from her spot on the ground, scared to move her glued feet like she’d fall over.
he laughs again with a critical grin on his face, again. “and where do you think you’ll go? i pay for this apartment, i pay the bills. you have nothing without me. y/n.”
“i work at the best fire station with the highest ranking paramedics and firefighters out there.” she retorts back. “i’ll be just fine without you, hell, i practically have been for the past two years.”
“you’re embarrassing yourself, baby girl.” y/n’s expression scrunches up from the cringe of the pet name that she’s always hated.
“don’t ever call me that again.”
“you have no where to go, you can’t stay at your stupid job forever.” he takes a step closer, and she takes another one back.
“actually, she’s going to stay with me until she can find an apartment.” buck says, coming around the corner, sensing her fear.
cam rubs his face. “y/n, please. we can do this together. you know i love you.” his immediate switches in mood is what she can’t control anymore, and she can no longer deal with it.
“some version of me out there still loves you back, and i feel insane amounts of nothing but pity for her.” y/n spits out at him.
“you’re a fucking psycho,” he says, and buck runs over to create more distance, standing between the two. y/n turns around, running her hands through her hair, trying to disappear.
“we’re leaving, y/n/n.” buck says, gripping your waist. “let’s go.”
“fuck, whatever. get the hell out.” cameron finally moves to the side and y/n and buck walk out of y/n’s old ‘home’ for the last time.
they stand outside in the parking lot, standing side by side as a speechless y/n stares in the distance. “i won’t stay for too long, i’ve found a few nice apartments to look at.”
“don’t worry about anything, y/n. you can stay there forever if it means you’re not there anymore.”
being faced with this much kindness and loving actions overwhelms her, making even more tears that she didn’t know she had pool in her eyes. “don’t cry, please. it’s ok, i’m here.” he pulls her back in and pats the back of her hair. “why don’t you drive over to my place, i’ll meet you in the parking lot.”
they go their separate ways and start driving to his nice apartment and already, it feels more like home than hers ever did.
buck pulls out his phone in the parking lot, in his car. he dials a few numbers and pulls the phone to his ear.
“hey, maddie. you busy tonight?”
————————————————————————
going up the stairs, y/n only had the energy to bring in a single bag to his apartment tonight. they walk side by side to his door together, his arm around her shoulders. buck fumbles with his keys and looks at her red, worn out eyes.
when he unlocks the door, y/n immediately notices all her family around bucks kitchen. she places her eyes on everyone, bobby and athena, hen, ravi, chimney and maddie, even christopher and eddie are there. “hey, y/l/n, welcome home.” athena is the first to say. and for the first time of the night, a fixed smile shines through her.
“hi guys, you all crowded in here?”
“thanks to this one, we wanted to be here for you, y/n.” hen says, pointing to buck.
“you did this?” she asks, sweetly, as if they all had just wrapped her hurt heart with the bandages of their love.
“i guess you could say that.” buck smiles, not wanting to take credit, but happy that he’s finally put some light in her mind.
“y/n, come over here and show us how you made that pasta.” bobby says, calling her over to start making dinner. “maddies going to start a salad.”
“ooh! i can make margaritas!” buck exclaims, excitedly.
“um, i can get behind that!” chim says.
everyone gathered around the kitchen, y/n notices her family all around, taking in the love they’ve given her. they would never have to take the time out of their day to come hang out in bucks tiny apartment if they didn’t truly care about her.
after a while, only buck and her remain in the kitchen. as everyone else squeezes into his living room, some people literally sitting on top of each other.
“hey, i don’t know how to thank you for all of this.”
“you don’t have to thank me for anything. this,” buck says, looking around the room. “is what you’ve deserved. and i will do anything to make sure you know that.”
they keep their eyes together, feeling everything from the day come down on them. both of them have their fears, but they seem to fade away and they forget about everyone else. realizing how much he really cares about her has changed everything for her. she loves buck more than she would ever have been able to love cameron. she reaches up impulsively, grabbing the sides of his face and pulling him in. she gives him a deep kiss and buck swears he’s levitating off the ground. his heart is on fire, waiting for this moment since they met. he didn’t expect anything in return, but he will say that this is a pretty nice reward.
buck leans back and shines a toothy grin at her, and she giggles. “you are very welcome.” he says, barely being able to get words out from his happiness.
they look over after hearing tiny giggles in the room. they both look over simultaneously, seeing christopher with an adorable, shining smile at them. he’s covering his mouth, but failing to conceal himself. “hi, christopher.” buck says.
“hi, buck! hi y/n!” he says, still not being able to wipe the smile away.
back in the living room, with maddies legs draped over him, chimney says to hen with a smirk, “and just like that, i am 20 dollars richer.”
“oh come on, chim, we all knew it was bound to happen.” hen laughs and they welcome y/n and buck back over.
the golden rays of sun hit your eyes uncomfortably as your alarm goes off at an disturbingly high volume. coming to your senses, you remember that you're not in your own bedroom but rather nanami's. you can hear a commotion from his kitchen already, signaling that he's probably making breakfast.
slipping from under the blanket, memories of last night start floating in. reality catches up to you as you look over and see that you were sleeping under nanami's blanket, his other one still neatly folded, signaling that he must have slept without one. embarrassed, you try not to think about how you ended up here, since you fell asleep on his couch. instead you try your best to get ready for the day, setting nanami's shirt away for later use, folding nanami's still warm blanket and pressing it up to your chest.
as you carried the blanket to the living room sofa, you mustered up the courage to greet your mentor. "good morning," you squeaked as you watched him prepare breakfast.
"good morning, everything okay?" he asked genuinely, "you can leave the blanket on the couch." he added.
"oh, okay," almost stumbling on the way back to the table, you answered his question. "yeah i'm fine, did something happen?" you ask a question of your own, staring at his broad back.
he sighs as he turns towards you with plates in hands; quickly, you fixate your eyes on another object in the room, not to be caught glaring.
"it's nothing," nanami states, setting down two plates with scrambled eggs, veggies and bread. "just a change of plans for today. you'll be paired with another classmate and their sorcerer."
your mind goes blank, remembering that you were supposed to be quiet about who your mentor was. "and you will go as well, sir?" you ask reluctantly, not wanting to seem desperate but also wanting to spend more time with him.
"of course i will, we can't let one sorcerer handle two students at once," he replies quickly, "if that was an option, you wouldn't be here at all." you frown at that, but also thank the rules that allowed you to have nanami as your mentor.
you eat the rest of your meal in silence and you're left pondering about what exactly happened last night. and why nanami didn't bring it up at all. he seems to not care about it, almost as if he's forgotten.
on the contrary and unbeknownst to you, the memories of the earlier night keep flooding nanami's mind constantly. of course, he keeps a straight face and acts professionally but it's oh, so hard. all he can think about when he gets the chance to relax is your sweet sleeping face. though he'll be a dead man before he admits it.
"we still got about thirty minutes before we need to go," he finally says when you finish your food.
"then i'll help you with the dishes again!" you smile widely at him and how could he possibly refuse such a proposition.
you shuffle over to the sink and start scrubbing, nanami's eyes focused on you. when he grabs a plate from your hand, you get all tingly inside again, just like the day before. his fingers like a ghost on yours, feeling like they wanted to stay there, before finally letting go and drying the porcelain.
trying to ease the tension in your head, you asked: "who will we be paired with, if it's not a secret?"
"grade 1 sorcerer mei mei and with her should be your classmate itadori yuuji," he sighed, almost as if he was irritated by the two.
"oh," you exclaimed, "that's good." you knew that yuuji was a friendly guy. sometimes maybe too friendly.
"is that bad? you don't sound exactly happy," nanami looked at you through his glasses like he was staring into your soul.
"no it's nothing, he's a good guy," you reassured, continuing, "i don't know him that much but he looks.. simple. easy to understand," you laugh it off, knowing that yuuji really says what's on his mind even if it gets him into trouble.
"alright then."
the rest of the cleaning went smoothly and soon you were back in nanami's bedroom, preparing everything you needed to have on you for the upcoming day.
both you and your mentor then headed out to the meeting spot. the walk was nice, the crisp of the morning air melting away when sunshine hit your skin, no signs of rain, just small clouds on the horizon that were soon to be dissolved in the baby blue sky.
you were walking behind nanami diligently, glaring at his clothed back, hair slightly bouncing with each step. you couldn't help but think those thoughts, even if it was wrong. you were likely never going to see him again, so you might as well get a good view now.
before you knew it, you arrived at the café you were supposed to meet at and you already saw yuuji's pink head babbling something to mei mei, before he noticed you and waved at you. you gave him a small wave back and made your way over.
"good morning!" you greeted both of the sorcerers, not sure if you should introduce yourself to mei mei.
"good morning, y/n! i'm glad we'll get to be together today," yuuji beamed at you, completely ignoring nanami's presence.
your mentors also exchanged greetings and indulged in some banter before discussing where you should head for today.
"so," yuuji scooted closer to you, "what do you think will be the plan?"
"um, i think exorcising is a pretty good bet," you chuckled in his direction, "what do you think field training is for?"
"man i don't know, but i sure am glad that i got paired with you," he laughed back, earning a smidget of nanami's attention.
"yeah, same, at least we aren't stuck with some of the weirdos," you smiled at him, sparing a glance towards your mentors. seeing as nanami has his eyes fixed on you, you quickly turn your head back towards yuuji.
"and, so," you started, feeling the heavy gaze of your mentor upon you, "uh.. what did you do yesterday?" you asked casually, hoping that yuuji would go off and talk for a few minutes so you can calm yourself down.
and indeed he did, describing his fights from yesterday, punching and kicking the air and occasionally bumping his fist into your shoulder when he started laughing, a little habit of his. as he grew closer to you, nanami suddenly declared that you'll be heading out to fight a semi-grade 1 curse.
during the walk you were mentally preparing yourself, while yuuji was talking your ear off. this fight will be all focused on whether you and yuuji can cooperate even though you just had a first normal conversation with him that wasn't him begging to copy your homework.
besides the fact that you almost cut yuuji multiple times, everything went smoothly and together with yuuji's black flash, you were capable of taking the beast down without unsheating your second blade.
you were extremely happy, high-fiving yuuji when you got off the cursed spirit. "cakewalk," he proclaimed, grinning in your direction.
"brag all you want, you ain't even seen the second blade yet," you smiled back at him.
"you have a second sword? you have to show me, c'mon," yuuji jumped at you in order to find it.
"no can do mister, i only use it when there's no way back. everything has it's consequences," you explain, hoping it will get him off your back.
"wow, now i'm even more curious," he frowned and you ruffled his pink hair.
"wrap it up and let's go for lunch," you hear nanami's voice from behind and your ears perk up. yuuji notices the way you react to anything nanami does or says, but keeps it to himself. it's not his place to pry anything out of you, but he's still just as curious.
getting lunch at this time of day was hard because, well, it was lunchtime. it was packed everywhere and you were lucky to get a spot for four at a cheap restaurant.
the lunch went by as you would expect; your mentors talking together and yuuji being as obnoxious as ever. even so, you enjoyed his company, he was able to lighten up your mood when you were overthinking about nonsense.
after lunch, it was time for yet another exorcism, this time there were two curses so you split up into teams. of course the mentors were together, since they would be able to exorcise the cursed spirit earlier and look after you and yuuji in case anything happens.
the curses looked similar, almost as if they were related in some way. both had an enormous body but small heads, no neck and three eyes. the difference was that you and yuuji had to take on the one that also had a fish-like tail and two horns, which were thankfully not sharp.
yuuji, as always, went in head first, kicking the spirit's nonexistent neck so its head would fall downwards and then started playing with its tail. you unsheated severance and got to work, chipping away at the skin around it's armpits, getting it to fall down briefly as yuuji cheered you on. sparing a glance to the other side of the battlefield, you couldn't help but notice nanami's defined body as he was working his way up to the cursed spirit's eyes.
you were about to do the same, when yuuji kicked its head into the ground. bracing yourself from the impact his kick had on the cement, you couldn't believe it. not only did its armpit wounds regenerate already, but now its head was face-down in the ground with no way for you to blind it.
you shouted at yuuji to switch positions so you could slice its neck from above. before you could finish your sentence, you heard a blood curdling scream from the other cursed spirit. you assumed it was defeated and continued, signaling yuuji to get down, but he seemed freaked out.
all of a sudden, the curse before you shot up its head, stood up on all fours again and started smacking at you. you tried to get away, however during the smacking the beast swiped severance out of your hand and it got stuck in the nearby building.
you looked over to your mentors who were already almost done with the first curse, the scream probably being its last battlecry to enhance both of their fighting abilities.
with no other choice left, you slowly unsheated foulblade from beneath your cloak. both deep and prickly pain revertebrated throughout your head and down to your spine and the hand in which your sword was held. your hand started turning deep russian violet.
yuuji noticed this and wanted to jump down to help you, but you immediately stopped him.
"yuuji just.. just keep the thing in place!" you shouted up at him, slowly gaining control over the blade.
as you glared into the cursed spirit's eyes, you quickly sprinted towards it, slashing at it from multiple angles at once. your body felt like it was moving on autopilot. finaly, you cut off its front legs and with a final blow exorcised it.
when you were done, you fell to your knees, dropping foulblade by your side. you quickly searched for it so you could put it away before anybody else could get hurt.
"y/n!" yuuji shouted in your direction, making haste to get down from the cursed spirit's remains.
but before he could get to you, you already felt a pair of arms around you, allowing you to relax. you were finally able to let go, your tense body loosening. your hand was slowly turning back to normal as you felt someone take it into their own.
"it's okay, i'll take it from here," you faintly heard nanami's voice from besides as your world faded to black.
you hear steps in the distance. your body is swaying limply. the steps are coming to you. no, your hearing is coming back to you. the steps have always been there. as you regain your senses slowly, you realise that nanami is carrying you on his back.
"uhn.. nanami," you're still out of it, he realises, but he can't ignore how pretty his name sounds on your lips.
"don't worry about it, i'll carry you, alright?" he responds, as if he knew what was worrying you.
"i can walk," you slur out, obviously not being able to walk, but you don't want to make more trouble than necessary.
"you can't, i said don't worry," he repeats, insisting on letting you rest. "if you really don't want this then you can walk by yourself, we're almost there," nanami reassures you.
"okay," you sqeak out, still hesitant about the situation you found yourself in. "did you get my blade, sir? it was stuck in the wall of the building," you remember all of a sudden, wondering whether severance was left behind or if it was retrieved.
"i have it, i need you to have a cursed tool that doesn't make you end up like this," he says rather plainly, but you can hear concern hidden behind his words.
"oh.. i understand that. thank you for retrieving it, sir," you reply, letting your head fall down on his back.
"and you can call me by my name, y/n, no need to be so formal," this statement makes your cheeks flaming hot, it was the last thing you expected from a man so professional. you bury your head further into his back, making nanami smile softly.
the stroll to his apartment was soon over as you recognised the now familiar building. nanami fished his keys out of his pocket while still keeping you balanced on his back, opening the front door. you slowly slipped out of his grasp and stood besides him.
"are you alright? can you stand?" he looked over to you, lending you a hand.
"yeah, i'm fine," you bluntly responded, gripping his arm as you two made your way to the elevator and finally the door to his apartment.
nanami guided you to the couch sat you down, letting you unwind. "do you want some tea?" he offered, looking down at you tenderly.
"yes, please. but," you continued, straining to get back up, "i should at least take a shower. and change into something clean."
"you can take a shower in the morning, i don't want you drowning on me," he protested, getting two cups from the cabinet. "you can go change but be careful, please." glancing at you, he sent you to his bedroom, attentively watching you if you happened to fall over.
you let out a relieved sigh, finally making it to the bed and taking off your school uniform, changing into your shorts and nanami's shirt. after a while, you made your way back to the living room, careful not to stumble over anything.
with your head finally clearing up, you sat on the couch, nanami bringing the tea over to you. "do you take sugar? or milk?" he asked politely. when you shook your head no, he sat down next to you and handed you the warm drink.
"thank you," you peeped out, cautious not to spill the contents of your cup. slowly blowing on the hot liquid to cool it down, nanami's next question made you freeze.
"so, what exactly is going on with that second cursed tool?" he looked over to you, paying attention to any and all changes in your behaviour. "it's okay if you don't want to answer, i'm just worried," he cleared up, making sure you know he's not forcing you into saying anything you're uncomfortable sharing with him.
"i.. honestly i don't know myself," you responded quietly, truthfully. "it was like this from the beginning, i think maybe my body can't handle it, that's why i only use it in dire situations," your eyes fall down to the cup sitting in your hands, looking at the hazy reflection of yourself.
"it's alright, but i'd rather you not use it anymore. if you run into any trouble, you should know that i will help you," your mentor reassured you, taking a sip of his own tea. "do you want to watch something?" he figured it would ease your mind if you were able to focus on something else than the events of today.
"um yeah, sure," you nervously agree, offering him the remote, "you can choose anything. i'm too indecisive," he smiles warmly at you as he takes the remote from your hand.
nanami switches between random channels before giving up and settling on the news. he sets the remote and his cup down on the glass table, reaching behind you for the blanket you accidentally stole from him yesterday, before wrapping it around you.
"oh," you exclaim, not wanting to make him do more work for you again, "i'm okay, you don't need to-"
"your hands are freezing, y/n," he cuts you off before continuing, "stop worrying about what others do for you. if i did not want to help, i simply wouldn't." taking off his glasses, he looks at you once more, making his point clear.
"alright," you utter, bringing your knees to your chest and warming yourself up in his blanket once again.
you both watch the news quietly, sitting through the weather forecast next. as the ads start rolling, you begin to feel better, wanting to engage in conversation.
"what was the point of being paired up with yuuji and ms. mei mei anyways?" you ask, seemingly out of the blue.
"well, it was to see whether you could cooperate with others. not only you of course, all of the students were paired up." nanami explains, wearing a stoic expression on his face.
"is that it?" you were feeling suspicious, so you continued, "since they could just accidentally pair up students that were good friends and already had chemistry in battle," you bite your lip, knowing that you were one of the few people that didn't have much friends in school. "i'm sorry if i'm reading into this too much."
"you're not, don't worry. the truth is that because a lot of sorcerers are away or participating in this training, higher grade curses can accumulate rather quickly," he presents you the details of the situation. "that's why we wanted to see if two lower grade students were able to exorcise cursed spirits such as these."
"so you wanted to watch and give feedback without intervening," you ponder for a while, thinking about why your mentors didn't help during your fights. "that's pretty smart when i look back at it."
"i can't say i enjoyed it, exactly. but yes, it's better than being preoccupied in a fight and having to give feedback at the same time," nanami reaches out for the remote to lower the volume a bit so you could continue your conversation without borderline yelling.
"you didn't enjoy it?" you sadden up a bit, thinking your technique was off, "what was so bad about it? i had fun, i think."
"for starters, i don't want you ending up like this again," he looks at your hand and takes it in his, the faintest shades of purple still remaining. the contact makes your skin heat up as goosebumps roll down your back simultaneously.
"and secondly, if everybody in your class is like itadori, i don't know how you're holding up," he finishes up his rant and you swear you saw a vein pop up on his neck when he thought about the pink haired boy.
"no, i would say that itadori is one of the better guys in our class," you chuckle, "he's just really friendly."
"a bit too much i would say," nanami retorts, his fist almost crushing the remote he's still holding. "you said you don't know him at all."
"yeah, i talked to him a few times but we aren't best buds or anything," you agree with the statement you made during breakfast, wondering whether you did anything that would upset your mentor.
"well he seemed like he knew you very well," his eyebrows grew together before he could calm himself down.
"n-nanami.." his name still felt weird on your lips, "he probably just wanted to have good teamwork. who would want to be on bad terms when they have to cooperate, right?" you tried to explain on yuuji's behalf.
nanami sighed, switching the tv channel to some random true crime movie. "right. i still don't like him," he exhaled, hanging his head backwards on the back of the couch.
you watched his tired eyes fixate on the ceiling and his messy hair fall out of his face. "yeah, he's a bit much for my own liking, too." you agreed with him, mouth staying a bit agape as you watched his adam's apple bob when he swallowed his saliva. time was passing by as the television just produced background noise, allowing your fantasies to take over.
his coat was discarded as the fabric of his blue shirt wrapped tightly around his body, buttons seemingly about to burst. the first button was undone and his tie was loosened, exposing his pale neck and the slightest sliver of what lied underneath.
"what is it?" nanami suddenly sounded, turning his head towards you, still resting it on the sofa. at that moment, you realised you were staring at him and he knew the whole time, allowing you to do so nonetheless.
you swiftly lifted your cup to your face and diverted your gaze, "nothing."
"out with it, go on," he lifted his head up and ran a hand through his hair, weariness invading his expression.
"i just," you stopped, obviously trying to come up with a believable lie, "i was wondering why you didn't like yuuji?"
the thought of yuuji being on your mind made nanami visibly frustrated. he had his reasons and it was not your place to ask such questions, but you had to say something in order to not seem suspicious.
"does my opinion matter to you that much?" he asks, his tone almost warning you of what's going to come next.
you nod your head, further explaining, "of course, what if he was assigned to you and you could not stand each other? that would be a problem, no?" you couldn't picture the idea of nanami having a troublesome classmate like yuuji to train, but it was a point to make.
he sighed again, giving you an answer, "to put it simply, i did not like the way he was acting towards you." he tried to remain professional as always, but there was a coin flipping inside of his head and he did not yet know whether he'd be able to keep his words for himself.
"what do you mean?" your head tilted to the side slightly, confused. "he was just friendly."
"don't play dumb, y/n," nanami suddenly proclaimed, leaning forwards as his elbows rested on his knees. "i think you saw how he looked at you. he was more than just friendly." the coin flipping in his head was going crazy, knowing that it's not his place to tell you who to be friends with but also wanting you to see how you're making him feel.
"yeah maybe," you finally admitted both to him and to yourself, quietly muttering "not like i'd date a guy like him anyways."
nanami's heart dropped all the weight it's been carrying and with one flip of the coin, his professional attitude almost disappeared.
"i'm glad to hear you say that," he smiles at you sincerely. "you deserve better than him," he glanced your way before directing his attention to the television.
"well," you started, a slight blush appearing on the apples of you cheeks, "i'm pleased you think so." both yours and nanami's façade were starting to drop, it was just a matter of who was going to crack first.
"of course i would think that, you're a good person and a magnificent sorcerer. and i don't say this lightly," it came out as a warning, almost to let you know that whenever nanami would compliment your skills, it was honest and not out of politeness.
"thank you, sir- nanami," you quickly corrected yourself, not being used to adressing your mentor by his name, "i'm sorry."
"it's alright, you can adress me however you want," nanami reassured you, eyes still fixated on the tv, fighting the urge to look at you.
"no, it's just that.. i'm not used to it yet," you respond honestly, mustering up the courage to voice the next sentence. "truthfully, i really like your name."
this makes the blonde freeze on the spot as it was the last thing he ever expected hearing from you. the coin in his head falls flat with one last flip, making him abandon his professionalism. you watch intently, almost being able to see the cogs turning in his brain.
finally, he exhaled and took a long look into your eyes. "are you sure you're feeling better?" his voice, deeper than before, sounded over the television.
"yes, why would i not be?" you asked back, confused. he inhaled deeply, before straightening his posture. "did i say something wrong, nanami?"
"you know," he started, resting the remote on the table, "i really like my name as well." you chuckled at him, the pressure falling off when you realised you didn't do anything to make him feel bad. "though it's only when you're the one saying it."
your eyes widened at him, mouth shut tight. only in this situation did reality hit you at full speed. you were sitting with your retired mentor on his couch, in his clothes and blanket. nanami's hair was messy from the earlier fighting, one hand hooked behind the back of the sofa, other resting on his muscular thigh, eyes fixed on yours, awaiting your reaction to his statement.
you looked down, fidgeting with your fingers in your lap, before speaking up. "nanami?" it came out as almost a whisper, unsure of yourself, you shifted closer to the man.
"yes?" he responded curtly, eyes momentarily flicking down to your lips before catching your stare again.
"who is better than yuuji?" you hesitate for a moment, blurting out a "who do i deserve?"
nanami smiles at you, shifting closer to you as well. "do you want me to show you?"
not finding your voice, you only nodded and in that moment, nanami slowly started inching towards you.
his journey to you felt impossibly long as you could feel his breath overlapping with yours. your gaze drifting between his eyes and lips, waiting for what felt like eternity for him to crash into you. one of his hands found yours and squeezed it lightly as he smiled gently. your patience, however, was wearing thin. not being able to withstand the pressure anymore, you closed your eyes and brushed your lips past his, making the first move.
nanami's other hand sneaked up to your cheek, caressing it lightly before returning the kiss fully. his lips were soft, moving tenderly along your own chapped ones, setting an unrushed pace which you were to savour. your hand, now almost fully back to normal, went to feel the one settled on your cheek, when suddenly a sharp pain stopped you.
nanami noticed and withdrew from you, scanning your face for any signs of discomfort.
"i'm sorry, it's the hand," you apologized sheepishly, looking up at him with cloudy eyes.
"is it acting up?" he asked and took it into his own hands, giving it a kiss. you only blushed and nodded. "you should rest, let's finish the movie," nanami suggested, wrapping the bits of blanket that fell back around you.
"alright, thank you," you smiled at him and started paying attention to the tv.
after a while, your head fell softly on nanami's shoulder and your breathing stabilised, signaling to him that once more, you fell asleep on the couch, wrapped in his blanket.
he waited for the movie to end and, like the night before, carried you to the bedroom. he gently set you down on the bed, making sure you're in a comfortable position.
just as he was about to kiss your forehead, you woke up and gripped his hand.
"go to sleep, y/n," he beckoned, not wanting to disturb you anymore.
"mmh," you grumbled drowsily, "stay here."
"that would be unprofessional, i'm still your mentor for this week," he argued, as if he already forgot about the kiss you two shared an hour ago.
"please, nanami," you pleaded, not even bothering to open your eyes.
for the nth time today, he sighed out. "alright, let me change first."
Demons Are a Girl’s Best Friend
A fun vacation to the mountains! The brothers are fascinated by the human world and even more fascinated by the human world’s interpretation of them. After exploring a local church, Asmodeus learns of Mc’s relationship with the church as well as igniting an interesting fantasy of theirs.
What happens when the brothers discover Mc’s more impure fantasies? (Plenty of irony)
Note: inspired by the song Demons Are a Girl’s Best Friend by Powerwolf, if you’re okay with a little bit of metal, you’ll love this and want it in your obey me playlist
GN!Poly!Mc but with a coochie x All Bros
This chapter is SFW with NSFW conversation but no explicit action. The MC also has religious trauma so yeah.
Chapter 1: “theres a phantom lust to wake”
You shielded your eyes from the light blistering down on your skin. Having been in the Devildom so long, you forgot the intensity of the sun. You were thankful it was warm considering the coolness of the Devildom, it was a nice change, it was familiar. You packed cool clothes, making sure that your outfits were nice and airy for your trip. The brothers did the same, considering how their bodies had adjusted to the coolness of the Devildom, you already had Asmo and Mammon droning on about the heat only a few hours into your arrival.
Yes, your arrival. Lucifer wanted a trip with all of you and everyone said the usual beach, camping, famous city 1, famous city 2, and Lucifer of course suggested a factory tour but you wanted to relax. So, Satan suggested a more scenic trip, a nature trip. You loved the idea, being a lover of adventure. At least with them! So you all got to planning you settled on a mountain trip. Central Europe has many different attractions but none compare to the beauty of the mountains, especially in Switzerland.
“Man, ever been here before?” Mammon asked to no one in particular.
Satan opened your travel guide. “No, I don’t think any of us have been at least not to this one specifically.”
You looked out the window next to Mammon, lofting yourself from the seat on your train. “Are we not going to the alps?”
Lucifer chuckled from across you. “The alps would be boring… what if you’ve gone before?” He sipped at his tea, swirling the cup around before placing it on the tray in front you.
“I’m human, Lucifer, and this stuff costs money and time! What makes you think I’d have explored the alps in their entirety!” The scenery outside was enough to keep you fascinated, let alone the mountain trip approaching.
You could hear faint snoring behind you in the aisle and Beel munching on whatever food he had. Levi was babbling about how he’s seen this exact area in such and such while Asmo doted on the woman on the other side of the train. They pulled straws to choose who’d be sitting with you, short had to sit the next aisle over. They’re convinced Mammon cheated, but he insisted that if that were the case he wouldn’t have Lucifer in the same row as you two. Lucifer was offended, but it was entertaining to listen to them bicker as Satan told you about his most recent series.
You were on the train for much longer than you figured you’d be, causing eventually the whole party to lament. Once you arrived, you all were thrilled and ready to explore, but what caught everyone’s attention the fastest was the cathedral in the middle of the town.
“Beautiful architecture.” Lucifer noted, smiling to himself. “Catholic imagery has always had its appeal despite its not so kind depiction of us.” You could hear Satan scoff and you giggled at his reaction.
“I agree.” you could smell the incense from the exit of the train station. “I was shocked to find you and Satan are two separate beings.” You moved toward Lucifer as Beel lifted Belphie and his bags back up.
“Man, churches are kinda eh, if you ask me. Pretty but uncomfortable!” Mammon thumbed his nose up and pushed his sunglasses up, though with the current weather, they are unneeded. “Ain’t these places supposed to be sunny?”
“It’s Europe,” you sighed, “it’s always cloudy!”
“Still too hoooooot…” Asmo whined. “And we have to walk to where we are staying??? Ugh!” He looked exhausted despite having just sat for hours. “I’m already so beat!”
Satan started walking eastward. “Well, to rest, we need to actually get there first!”
“Well, that building has people giving out refreshments!” Beel notes, also feeling thirsty and tired. And hungry. “Maybe they have food.”
“Uhhhh,” you start, ready to protest but Mammon, Asmo, Levi and Beel (also Belphie) are already heading that direction.
“I don’t see why we can’t go inside. Perhaps we might learn something interesting.” Lucifer suggests and Satan gives up on trying to get to the cabin and follows suit. You give in as well.
Getting up close, you’re even more impressed. The stained glass and Roman build, the renaissance ambience, its all amazing. You inhale the scent of incense again and exhale. It’s hard to not be familiar with any Christian establishment in this world, especially of a Catholic nature and within Europe. Nuns were walking around the courtyard and they greet your party, speaking German. Satan speaks it eloquently and they offer to give you home baked bread. Beel obliges and eats it up in seconds.
“Danke.” You feel strange, receiving food from a place you abandoned long ago. You find it strange how the brothers seem so unbothered by it’s presence, but considering the various interpretations of demons, it makes sense.
“So holy water won’t burn huh?” You ask Asmo, who is drinking to his hearts content.
“This is bottled water, sweetie… I don’t think it’s holy unless they bless it.” He winks and offers the rest to you.
“Yeah… I think it’s funny how you guys are so… chill.” You trail off and fixate onto the crucifix adorning the doors of the church.
Asmo blinks and looks at you deeply. “It’s just a building. Humans get a lot of stuff wrong about us, don’t worry.” He sees your sudden shift in mood. “I love how cute you get when you’re worried.” He tries to soften the mood and make you smile.
Your eyes remain transfixed on the building. “I’m not worried, I just never thought I’d be back at one of these after meeting you guys. Any house of worship, really, especially a Christian one.”
Asmo looks confused. “I don’t really know this stuff, I just know they think we torture bad humans and there’s like 9 layers of the Devildom… oh and that Lilith was a human that corrupted the first human man or whatever.” He leans in closer. “Do the books and stuff say anything about me????”
“Yeaaahh.” You respond and finally look away from the doors. “I don’t really remember that much. All I really remember is the stuff about Lucifer.”
He pouts and walks to the doors. “Man, why is he so special. He’s beautiful but he isn’t me.” He pushed them open and the sound of the old doors creaking open make you jump.
The nuns look over in your direction and your face goes red. Satan comes up from behind you and grabs your shoulders. “Jumping like that makes you seem more demon than we.” He looked down at you and you shuffled out of his grip.
“Those things are too loud to be that old.” You hear Mammon say looking toward you. He has a cheeky grin on his face and his sunglasses now folded and hanging on his shirt. “Don’t worry,” he nudges, “I’ll protect ya from any scary nuns.”
You roll your eyes but can’t help but smile. Satan looks to where Asmo has stopped inside, admiring the—
“Gold!” Mammon shouts and chases after Asmo.
“There he goes again… do you want to go inside?” Satan asks you and you look aside to the rest of the brothers who are now looking toward you.
“It seems like…” you look at their eager and curious faces. “You all want to go in.”
“Is it wrong to be curious? We never get that much time here especially in a place with fictional depictions of us. You could say it’s like we are evil celebrities here.” Satan mentions and he’s right. Who wouldn’t want to know what someone wrote about them, especially if that many people believe it.
“Okay.” You say, nodding. “I wouldn’t mind seeing what they’re burning. It smells really good.”
You go inside and find yourself shoulder to shoulder with Asmo once again who was scurrying around trying to figure out what everything is. “Hey! Mc, what’s that man doing?”
“He’s going into confession.” You answer bluntly.
“Confession?” Asmo ponders aloud.
Mammon interrupts, “yeah you don’t know what that is? You confess to people stuff.”
“Kinda. But to a priest and it’s your sins.” You add, moving along to find where the smell is coming from.
“Ooooh… so it’s like that ‘daddy, sorry I’ve been naughty’ thing!” Asmo looks jubilant.
“Uh, more like ‘forgive me father, for I have sinned.’” Their ignorance is shocking. Don’t they know anything? “You really not know that or are you joking?”
Asmo taps his finger on his lip. “What’s the difference?”
Both you and Mammon look shocked now. You say, “uh, ones horny ones not!”
Asmo looks offended almost. “Are you not supposed to be horny in church?”
You froze and blinked for a minute. “Huh?” Thank the gods that there aren’t any English speakers around. “You… Asmo, you know lust is a sin.”
“Obviously but I was curious! It’s really funny that sorta stuff is sinful even though I see sexy nun costumes all over the place at Halloween in the human world. Don’t forget sexy priest too!”
It’s unfathomable what you hear from them sometimes, especially when it makes no sense. They’ve mastered your language, understand human pop culture for the most part, they even know some chunks of human history, but the one thing they don’t know is directly about them?
Lucifer joins your group. “You seem rather shocked, Mc. Is something wrong?”
“How do you not know anything about the group responsible for the whole religion condemning you?” You ask and Lucifer sighs.
“Well, as you know, I’ve long detested how I am depicted as well as the fact that Satan and I aren’t even considered separate beings. Truth be told, I just never encouraged them or myself to learn anything about it after the fall. I didn’t want them to be upset. Now, since you’re here, I think we might be more willing to interact with it.” Lucifer looks content and his words sound honest. That also makes sense but it’s still very mind-boggling their ignorance. “Mc, I only know what I’ve been told to be honest. I know much more about other depictions of demons that might be more accurate to us. But most human tales are a bit ridiculous.” Lucifer notes, scrolling to show you an image of Baphomet. “You mean to tell me most humans think this is me when it quite literally isn’t even me in the tale itself?”
“Yeah, I guess if it got that crazy, I would stay out of it too. Plus it’s not like you could really intervene and tell people it isn’t true.” You feel Lucifer’s cold hand on the small of your back. “Huh?”
“I’m curious, what did you think when you were going to meet us?” Lucifer looks at you, smiling.
“Well… a lot to be honest. Demons are depicted as deceitful, they’re to lure humans into sin. They’ll often treat you kindly, seduce you, or do whatever to make you feel safe and then take everything from you so I sorta expected that… but also I knew deep down that there’s no way that’s all true.” You answer him honestly.
He chuckles. “We do treat you kind, seduce you, and try to make you feel safe. Do you worry we are manipulating you?” He’s smiling but he’s hiding concern in his voice.
“Truth be told, the church manipulates so much that I figured I’d be used to it.” You only make him laugh again. “I know you guys love me.”
“Hmm, if I was expected to confess all of my wrongdoings to one person I’d feel terrible as well. That’s a lot of power to give one person, Mc.” His hand remains on your back and is now accompanied by Asmo’s arm.
“Heyyyy! We can all get a touch, can’t we??? I’d happily confess all my naughty thoughts to you, Mc!” Asmo snakes himself in between you and Lucifer. “And all the naughty things I’ve done.
“I’m sure you would.” You grin now, a thought coming into your head. “Say, wonder what that priest would say if I told him I’ve been bedding with demons.”
Lucifer grinned. “I’m sure they’d consider you quite the sinful human. I imagine sleeping with demons make for quite the punishment?” You nudged him playfully and stood by him for a minute.
“Don’t go getting too many ideas now.”
The clouds in the sky were heavy, ready to downpour. Lucifer pulled them group out of the church and you said your goodbyes to the nuns and made your way to your lodgings. It wasn’t too long of a journey, the rain only began when you were a few blocks from it. Lucifer rented an airbnb for your group and it was a homely loft, almost castle-like. It was clearly an older structure but had been receiving regular updates. It had only 4 bedrooms, but a multitude of beds for you all to share.
“So who gets to sleep with Mc?” Oh no. It has begun.
Beel asked the question innocently and Mammon was the first to speak up. “Obviously me!”
Asmo next. “Well, I think they want to sleep with me.”
Then Belphie half asleep. “Me n’ Beel should share.”
And then Satan. “I came up with the idea for the trip so I should pick where I sleep first and I choose where Mc plans to stay.”
Then Lucifer. “You picked it and I did the planning, I deserve first pick.”
Then Levi. “I never get to go first so I should!”
It was always bound to be chaos when you had to share rooms especially with seven demons completely obsessed with you.
You spoke up. “Let me try to make this fair. I guess I should choose first?”
They all agreed and you wandered the space. One room was large with one king sized bed in the middle, accompanied by a large window showing you the outside view of the woods. It was a dark room, much like the rest of the loft. Next there was another large room, this one with one bunk bed and another bed caddy cornered against the wall. It only has one window and small laterns hung to the ceiling, it’s charming and fantasy like. Thirdly, there’s another slightly smaller room complete with two beds next to each other, it wasn’t anything impressive, just like a hotel room complete with dark academia ambience. And lastly, a room about the same size as the next, another set of beds similar to the previous room but this time, it had a large window the exact same as the first room. The view in this one was certainly on par with the first one and you debated over which one.
But the answer was clear to you. “I want the first room. One more person can fit in the bed with me.” They looked as though they were ready to fight. “Okay, let’s do it this way… pick a number 1-50.”
“Ugh… 7.” Belphie answered.
“33.” Satan.
“I was gonna choose that one! 44.” Mammon.
“12.” Lucifer.
“Hmm… 24.” Levi.
“18!” Asmo.
And then Beel. “40.”
You waited a moment before saying who won. “Asmo gets to sleep with me.”
The brothers sighed of annoyance as Asmo celebrated and came up to you. “Yaaay! We’re gonna have lots of fun together.” He wrapped his arms around your hips and you pushed him back.
“Don’t get too touchy now. And don’t go feeling me up as I try to go to sleep, ‘kay???”
He pouted. “That’s no fun but I guess I will listen.”
You all started to move into your rooms and settle in. You could see the sunsetting as the downpour was intense. The sound was nice and calming, it made you want to cuddle up and relax with the brothers, but other things were on their minds. You walked up to the window to watch as the rain fell, gazing out into the woods.
“Mc, what are you thinking about?” Asmo asked, plopping onto the bed.
“Nothing really, just shocked Lucifer didn’t check the weather better.” You answered, briefly gazing back at Asmo.
“It must’ve not been in the forecast. You seemed upset earlier.” His voice went serious. “Was the church uncomfy for you?” He pulled at your arm to get you to sit on the bed.
“You could say that. I was kinda worried about you guys too. But really… there’s just not a lot of good in places like that. Even though they pretend to be good.” You chose your words wisely, not wanting to venture deeper.
He waited a moment before responding. “Okay. I just want to make sure you’re okay.”
“Yeah I’m good, to be honest…” you trailed off and your cheeks went pink. “I joked with Lucifer about how the priest would react if he found out I’ve been fucking you guys.”
Asmo giggled. “I imagine they’d be jealous, hun.” He rolled onto his back and cocked his head. “Ever seen any pretty ones?”
“Pretty priests??? Most of them are old.” You laughed, confused by his question.
“Well, it’d be funny if I were to seduce one huh? As a demon? It might be fun!” He suggested, his brain filling with naughty ideas.
You laid back beside him. “Well, they’re people too. I bet they wanna fuck.”
He turned his head to you slowly. “Have you ever been attracted to anyone of a pure status?”
You squinted at him, smirking. “Well, it is interesting to consider defiling them. But no one has ever caught my eye.”
“Demons love to corrupt.”
“Yeah I know.”
“Mc, I have… an idea.”
Uh oh. You looked at him and shrugged. “Okay.”
“You’ve already been corrupted by demons, so why not get punished by priests.” He suggested, nonchalantly.
“You want me to go get fucked by priests?” You were shocked, looking at him like he’s crazy.
“No silly, even better! Us pretending to be priests!!!! See, it sounds fun!”
Asmo was a man of many talents and many thoughts, but this one hit multiple parts of your psyche. Religious trauma, arousal, demons, kinks, and your insatiable lust for all of the above to be combined. Something you didn’t know until now. Well. Really, that’s a lie. It has always been arousing to consider how, as Asmo said, they’ve corrupted you, but to fantasize about retribution? Now, that’s new.
Asmo ran his hand up your arm. “Mc, you’ve been thinking a while…”
You snapped back in. “I like that idea.” You couldn’t be shy around him anymore, there’s no point with how well he can read you now. “So you wanna include the rest of them?”
“Satan and Lucifer will likely love this idea. Lucifer loves to punish as you know.” Asmo leaped up from the bed. “Let me go ask them now!”
“Hey!” You raced after him and he shouted for everyone to gather in the middle of the room. You were already feeling hot, embarrassment searing through you.
The brothers walked out of their rooms, complaining of being summoned, too tired, or annoyed. Asmo grinned eagerly and awaited for you to get beside him.
“So! Our lovely Mc confided in me of something naughty!” Asmo wrapped an arm around you and you saw the mood of the room instantly change.
“Naughty?” Lucifer’s mouth widened into a grin. “Do tell.”
The rest of them all nodded in agreement. Belphie yawned. “We just got here and they’re horny huh?”
You shot Belphie daggers with your eyes. “Asmo suggested I merely agreed.” He laughed at your response and looked at Asmo, eagerly awaiting to hear your fantasy.
“Mc has been dirtied by all of us, corrupted and fucked nice and good, so it’s up to the holy to punish them for their sins, is it not?”
Satan was the first to respond. “And we are to take up these holy roles?” He leaned on the railing to the stairs, propping his elbows up and resting his chin on his hands, his eyes lowering. “I quite like that.”
Lucifer chuckled. “Sounds interesting.”
“So we’re gonna punish ‘em?” Mammon looked to you, his face unreadable.
Levi came up beside Mammon, making him jump. “Ohhhh this is like that one episode of That One Time I Got Turned Into A Human! I know exactly what to do!” Levi looked even more excited that Satan or Lucifer.
Beel was still quiet but he looked deep in thought. When his eyes met yours you instantly knew what he was thinking about. You could see hunger in his eyes, this one not for food.
“So we’re all in agreement? Why don’t we do it tonight since we are all rained in?” Mammon broke the silence and to your own surprise as well.
“Hm, it’s short notice but I’m sure we can negotiate a scene.” Lucifer nodded and looked around to see everyone’s reactions and then his gaze landed back on you. “Shall we get on with it then?”
You breathed in deeply. “Yeah.”
the dog days are over
[Dungeon Meshi / Delicious in Dungeon, Farcille, Fluff, Overwhelming amounts of love, slight angst, happy ending, Laios best brother, i guess song fic] AO3 Link
Summary: Marcille struggles with letting herself be happy, but Falin is ever so patient and loves her so, so much.
-
Happiness hit her—like a train on a track
Coming towards her, stuck still no turning back
-
It takes Marcille by surprise—the choked sob of relief that spills out of her chest, finally free from a heart that’s been aching for so long that it’s like she can breathe again.
She’s so happy—she’s so relieved, she—
She buries the sound in the back of her hand.
Marcille doesn’t want to wake Falin—even as she keeps vigil from her bedside, afraid that Falin might slip into another heart-wrenching coma. She allows herself to grip the blankets draped lazily over Falin’s chest, to brush aside her hair—soft and freshly cleaned, no longer dampened by the feverish sweat that plagued Falin for days.
Unfortunately, it does wake her. Marcille can’t find it in herself to feel all that bad about it—her fluttering eyelashes, the movement of her throat as she swallows weakly—it reminds her that Falin is alive.
“Marcille?”
It reminds me that everything’s going to be okay.
“Hey,” Marcille leans on her arm, her cheek resting on her palm. “I didn’t mean to wake you.”
Falin is blinking, looking around for something while her hand lazily pats around the sheets and bedding and—ah, she found it—brushing her fingertips against Marcille’s free hand to coax her into intertwining their hands.
“Have you been sleeping there the whole time?”
“Mmm,” Marcille hums. “Maybe.”
Falin’s brows knit together, her lips in a small pout. “That isn’t very comfortable, your back will ache.”
“It isn’t so different from sitting on a desk,” Marcille reassures, rubbing her thumb over Falin’s. “I’m alright.”
Then Falin tugs—ever so softly—enough to pull Marcille forward, “there’s space enough.”
Marcille laughs, “you run far too warm when sleeping. We’ll get sweaty!”
“It’s never stopped you before.” Falin is still pulling, her other hand now reaching for Marcille’s sleeve. It makes her realize that Falin is now much, much stronger than she had ever been before—but not any less gentle.
“Fair point,” Marcille isn’t even fighting back anymore, barely putting in a bite when she scolds her: “but you need to recover.”
“But I’ll recover best like this,” Falin flashes her one last smile before she’s pulled under the covers, with feathered arms wrapping around her. She climbs into the warmth willingly.
It feels different—yet it feels the same as it always has.
But it feels good —because the warmth that is pressing against her side is one of life—of the living. And Falin is back—and she couldn’t ever ask for anything more—it was more than enough, it was so much more than she could have ever wanted.
And how lucky she must be—it feels almost unfair—to be able to hold Falin again.
To have it all.
-
She hid around corners — and she hid under beds
She killed it with kisses — and from it she fled
-
And yet, Falin still had more to give.
“We could have a garden,” she hummed, up to her elbows in the dirt while she readied the soil for planting. Marcille tried not to sigh—it’s going to take her at least an hour to help Falin clean her feathers later—but when she saw Falin wiggle her fingers at the basket of (“ little, cute, baby! ”) mandrake seedlings, the sigh had escaped in full.
Marcille was out in the gardens because Senshi had delegated the task to her. They’re mandrakes, he said, handing her a squirming wicker basket, aren’t mandrakes yer thing?
Falin was passing by the kitchen during that opportune moment—she stopped in her tracks, head popping backwards to look at them in unabashed excitement at the prospect of participating in the budding field of monster horticulture.
And away went Marcille’s will to decline them both—along with her afternoon plans, replaced by the chance to sit by Falin in the dirt to grow vegetables that fought back.
“Well, we already have this garden.” Marcille replied, bunching up her dress to kneel next to Falin. She inspected the plots and, once satisfied, ran a cool cloth along Falin’s brow to wipe away the sweat and grime.
“Yes, but we could have one for just us two. I could plant the flowers we used to gather back in school,” she looked up at Marcille with bright, amber eyes. “You could uhm—attempt to cultivate changelings?”
It was so casual—how easily she said ‘we’. It made Marcille’s heart flutter and float, closer towards a feeling so wonderful that it scared her a little.
But—”No.” She crossed her arms, feigning annoyance. “No weird plants, Falin!”
Falin laughed, bumping her on the shoulder.
She willed her heart to still—to ease the thumping in her chest—smothering the embers of hope before they turned into a fire—before they could sting, and sizzle, and hurt.
-
With every bubble—she sank with her drink
And washed it away down the kitchen sink
-
“Found you.”
Marcille doesn’t realize how tense she is until there are deft fingers on her shoulders, rubbing circles to will the aches and pains away.
“That feels nice,” her head leaned back, into the soft padding of Falin’s stomach. It seems she was caught in the library again—much too absorbed to realize it was past lunchtime. She had strained her vision enough at this point that she could barely understand the text, and was grateful for the reminder to take a break. She felt Falin lean downwards from behind her, setting her chin over the top of Marcille’s head.
“What are you reading?”
“Laplace transforms.”
Falin made a sound, and Marcille just knows that’s wrinkling her nose. “I thought it’d be something a bit more… magical?”
“Math is magic,” Marcille reached up to hold the arms that have wrapped around her neck and shoulders.
Falin gasped—the sound of it so dainty that it tugged at the corner of Marcille’s lips. She unraveled herself to take the seat next to her, reaching for the leatherbound book on Izgandan Brewery. “Are you thinking of learning how to make ale?”
“No,” Marcille chuckled at her enthusiasm. “I was interested in the fermentation cycles of the yeast.”
“I’d like to try making ale,” Falin mumbled softly, happily opening the tome to a random chapter. This volume was good for visual learners—there were many fascinating illustrations: every type of still and decanter, amalgamations of glassware that almost looked identical to the alchemy stands Marcille was more familiar with. Falin looked at them in wonder. “A cellar sounds charming, I could even try my hand at wine for you.”
“I would have never predicted your fondness for liquor,” Marcille shook her head, amused.
“I’d like to try all the different kinds,” Falin admitted, cheeks growing flushed. “My brother and I liked to lay underneath the oak tree of our yard back home.” She looked wistful. “We’d imagine all the places of the world—all the different people and food.”
Falin took her hand, playing with the rise and fall of Marcille’s knuckles. “I never imagined a world where we could finally… just do that.”
Then it hits her—a bittersweet sting of realization.
Falin is alive—and now she gets to live. She gets to live, and dream, and see all the places she’s dreamed about, and Marcille—
Marcille will have to let her go.
-
The dog days are over; the dog days are done
-
When Falin kneels down at Marcille’s bedside, brows knit together in concern, mouth pulled tight in a grimace, Marcille realizes something important.
Falin hadn’t left her side—not since she first came down with this fever. Long, tireless days and short nights of respite had caught up to her—Marcille was in no condition to work.
She felt parched all the timebreathless and uncomfortable while her raging fever refused to break. Falin looked like she was losing sleep over it. She would brush the hair from her forehead, cradle her cheek—Marcille would feel the soothing flow of mana and she would worry—worry—because what if Falin ran low? But that was ridiculous, she thought, she’d have much more than even I did at this point—
“Falin—”
“Hey,” Falin whispered, sweet and heavenly and so thick with affection that it made Marcille’s stomach turn. “Just rest.”
Everything hurt—but everything didn’t, not when Falin was nearby. She tried to reach out with a weak hand, but Falin was already there, meeting her halfway, taking her frail, clammy hand in hers to hold and keep warm.
When Falin leaned forward to press her lips against Marcille’s burning forehead—before whispering against her hair that it would be okay, she’d stay right here, wouldn’t leave her side—it finally clicked.
Marcille was in love with her.
She’d been given everything she wanted—and had the audacity to want more.
-
Leave all your love and your longing behind
You can't carry it with you if you want to survive
-
“Why don’t you visit?”
Saying it out loud felt like a betrayal to herself.
Falin was on the visitor’s chair of Mariclle’s office, slouched against it while she pored over a book on Eastern Continent furniture. It startled her—Marcille’s suggestion—but it seems to have been a good kind of surprise, judging from how Falin’s eyes sparkled at the suggestion.
“The Eastern Continent?”
“Yeah,” Marcille nodded. “I mean—with me being stuck here,”
Falin seemed to have frowned a little.
“—and Laios just as grounded—it’d be nice to hear about the rest of the world from you. I know you’ve always wanted to travel.”
Falin closed her eyes as if to contemplate this. Then she leaned back into the plush chair, eyes up to the ceiling. “I did… I do.” Her gaze flickers to Marcille for a moment before faltering again. “There’s a lot to see.”
“Where would you go?”
“Maybe the East?” Falin looked back towards her book.
“I’m sure Shuro–” and Marcille has to force the venom down from words because—no—she is better than that, and Shuro is a good man. “—would be happy to accommodate you.”
“It’s nice for us to be on better terms again,” Falin agrees. “Him and I, and my brother too.”
“It is,” Marcille muttered and… and she meant it.
“I’d love to see an Eastern Dragon,” Falin perked up in excitement. “I heard that Laios had to fight one.”
“And lived to tell the tale!”
Falin had lit up—and to Marcille, the sun might as well have been in the light in her soft, amber eyes. Would it be like meeting family, she wondered, when Falin finally got to meet the Eastern Dragon she was looking for? Do they understand each other as beings who were so much— more . Grander, and wiser, and too big to keep in the constricting walls of rooms and castles, born with wings to fly over all the little people destined to stay rooted on the ground.
Marcille watches Falin enumerate a concerning amount of trivia on Eastern Dragons—more still about the landscapes they lived in, how beautiful the unforgiving mountain peaks could be. Falin was enraptured—a mirror image of her brother almost—and how could she deny her this?
“I’d bring you so much stuff if I went,” Falin giggled. “Maybe I can make you a shelf?”
It hurts a little— it hurts a lot —but the world is so beautiful and big and she loves her so, so much that she couldn’t possibly keep her from seeing it.
-
And I never wanted anything from you
Except everything you had and what was left after that too, oh
-
It takes a month before Falin picks a direction to go.
They’re in Falin’s room, getting started on putting together her luggage, and Marcille keeps on a brave face because she sees Falin’s resolve falter whenever she looks at her. She isn’t due to leave for another week, but there is merit in being thorough—in making the effort to be prepared with time to spare.
“I’m guessing you can carry the pack even with salted meats?” Marcille fussed, checking small strips of parchment that she had made lists in. They’re seated on the floor, with different articles of wardrobe and magical items strewn about their vicinity. “It wouldn’t be too heavy?”
“I don’t think I’d need too much,” Falin looked sideways, nervously scratching at her cheek.
“Don’t tell me you’re planning to hunt monsters.” Marcille pleaded.
“Okay,” Falin shifted her eyes up to the ceiling. “I won’t.”
And then there was silence—followed by Marcille’s playful whine as she pushed Falin by the shoulder, Falin all sheepish smiles. They laugh a little more—and then Marcille pulls herself closer to Falin, until their knees are pressed together as they sit.
Marcille fishes something out of her pocket—a small pressed flower, tied with what looks to be a lock of her hair. It’s bound by a small, cloth pouch. A charm—protection.
“You’re doing so much for me.” Falin took it into her hands reverently.
“Anything to keep you safe.”
“This is amazing.” Falin puts the thin cord of twine around her neck, tucking the charm under the collar of her shirt. She puts a hand over her chest, pressing the charm against her. “And you even helped with something as tedious as the packing.” Falin reached out for her hand again.
“Of course I’d help you.” Marcille happily takes it with a chuckle. “I love you, but I’ve seen you forget too many things too many times to let you pack for such a long trip on your own.”
Falin is… looking at her. She’s staring , with her mouth a little open and her brows slightly knit together. Her cheeks are so, so pretty when they’re flushed like that and—
“What do you mean when you say that you love me?”
Marcille can feel herself return Falin’s blush in full—maybe even several times over. The heat prickles at her skin, making her ears feel warm and skittish. But she has neither the will nor desire to lie to Falin—she never has—and she takes Falin’s hand closer to her, pressing a kiss to her knuckles, pressing another one for safe measure, before laying Falin’s palm flat on the side of her face. Marcille closes her eyes, content to just feel the warmth of Falin’s palm.
When she opens her eyes again—Falin looks at her like she was the whole world. Every field she wanted to cross, every mountain she wanted to climb, every endless river that twisted and turned and opened out into the sea.
“It means that I love you.”
Falin makes a sound—almost a sob of relief—then she reaches forward and gently bunches the cloth of Marcille’s shirt into her hand and then—and then she pulls.
When their lips meet, Marcille has started tearing up—in joy, in love, in every emotion that she’s ever felt and will ever experience—and she realizes that she could wait. She can wait, however long it takes, as long as Falin would come back to her.
She can wait.
-
Happiness hit her like a bullet in the back
Struck from a great height by someone who should know better than that
-
It’s the second time that Marcille wakes her up by brushing her hair.
Except this time, she gets to watch it happen much closer. Soon Falin is blinking awake, eyes half-lidded and heavy with sleep. Marcille holds her face, and Falin turns to kiss her palm while pulling her closer with the arm around her waist.
The first thing Falin says isn’t good morning, or hello, or even I love you, it’s—
“I’ll stay.”
It almost sounds like she’s pleading.
It makes tears sting behind Marcille’s eyes— because she wants it so bad —but this is also exactly what she was afraid of.
She loves her too much—too much—to hold her back from the rest of her life and the rest of the world. To keep her here, selfishly, when she already got to have more than she deserves. She’s put too many other people through hell and back because she just couldn’t let Falin go —and it’s enough.
It’s enough this time.
“I can’t do that to you,” Marcille says—loving as much as she was hurting.
Falin is looking at her with a small frown of frustration.
Marcille plays with the hem of Falin’s shirt, pressing on it between her index finger and thumb. She reaches further, touching the tips of her feathers. She looks at her eyes—beautiful, slitted eyes. “Haven’t I imposed so much on you already?”
“I don’t really understand.” Falin admits.
And that’s okay. Falin doesn’t need to understand it, the anguish of wanting for more but knowing you couldn’t—shouldn’t—take it. Marcille doesn’t want her to ever have to understand it. So she stays quiet, hoping that the moment will pass.
Falin sighs in resignation. She pulls Marcille a little closer. “I could wake up like this everyday,” she says in a small voice—as if the very same thought wasn’t what Marcille’s dreams were made of.
-
The grandeur of Laois’ office—for all its character and odd accentuations—feels empty without Falin. It had always been the three of them—winding down at the end of the day, lifting the weight of a kingdom off their shoulders. But today, they were down to two.
Falin had only just left.
It had only been just under an hour—and it already felt so, so empty. All she could hear was her heartbeat—a beating drum that echoed in the cavity of her chest—alone with no rhyme or melody.
Laois was leaning against the windowsill—facing west, watching the road Falin would be taking by now—and he’d been silent for the better part of their time sulking together.
“When did you get to decide what makes her happy?”
The words, harsh as they may have sounded, weren’t laced with malice. She knew Laios better than that.
Still—it surprised her. “What do you mean?”
“You kept telling her to go.” He’s turned to face her now. He didn’t look upset—just frustrated, confused.
“I mean—” she blinked, furrowing her eyebrows, casting her eyes down towards her hands that fidgeted anxiously on her lap. “Isn’t that what I’m supposed to do?”
Laios held his silence to give her space to continue.
“Loving someone—” she waved her hands in awkward gestures, meeting his eyes again, stammering “—letting them—letting them go?”
There was a pause. Then Laios scratched at the back of his head, his shoulders slumping. “Don’t you think it’s a little presumptuous of you to assume that she doesn’t want to stay?”
Presumptuous? A flush of indignance rises in her neck, and suddenly she was on her feet. “I’ve listened to her talk about the world with such wonder, Laios—” she was stomping towards him now “—I’ve heard the excitement in her voice at the thought of seeing it all. I couldn’t—I wouldn’t keep her from that.”
“And did she say she wanted to do it alone?” He crossed his arms, pulling his height over her. “Cause I know what you mean, Marcille, I know what Falin is like when she’s excited. I see whenever I hear her talk about how she wants to try cooking you something new for breakfast—or how much happier she is every time she wakes up in the morning next to you. Yes. She tells me.”
It makes her flush when he says that—but it was no time to be flustered, and she did her best to set her jaw and show him that she wasn’t backing down.
“Travelling was a dream we had together.” He turns away to look out the window, relenting. “But—don’t you realize there’s other things that she wanted for herself, too?”
And Laios is staring at her again—his eyes remind her so much of Falin that her heart begins to ache.
“I know that she tells you about them,” he continued gently.
She does, but then—
“Then why would she go?”
“Why would she stay?” Laios asked her like it was obvious. “Why stay if the whole time she was with you, you would just feel guilty about it?”
“I—”
“You’re allowed to be happy.”
Marcille doesn’t know what to say to that.
And then she chokes back a sob, falling forward to thump her first against Laios’ chest.
Laois holds her when she begins crying—one of her best friends —the closest thing she’s ever had to a brother —and she loves him so much, this kind and precious man—who has never failed to pull her out of the depths of a prison that no else made but herself—
She thanks him.
And then she turns on her heel and runs.
-
Run fast for your mother, run fast for your father
Run for your children, for your sisters and brothers
-
It was a spectacle, for sure, the sound of the King bellowing out for the guards to open the gates.
Marcille had commandeered a carriage, leaning halfway out the doorway with Ambrosia in tow while the thunderous gallop of horses battered down cobblestone roads. They barreled through the gates, leaving soldiers in disarray.
She couldn’t have been that far—Falin liked to walk slowly, meandering about to take in the sights and sounds and smells.
People parted through the thoroughfare once they reached the main road, and Marcille winced—“Please don’t hurt anyone!” she yelled at the carriage driver, but at the same she willed that he would never slow down, afraid that she would never catch her.
How self-absorbed! She wanted to yell—to scream—to apologize to Falin for curling up into a ball of despair everytime Falin asked for what she wanted. How conceited! To think that her self-imposed punishment was more important than listening to her— than giving her what she was asking for!
How—how wonderful . To finally be free to love her—and want her—and need her.
She squinted through the wind, her hair whipping about sharply as the carriage raced into the city. It’ll start getting congested soon, she realizes, and the roads won’t be wide enough to fit all the horses.
When she finds a break in their speed—much to the driver’s horror—she jumps.
-
Can you hear the horses?
'Cause here are they come
-
She’s running now. Her feet hurt and her thighs are burning but it doesn’t matter—she doesn’t care. She’ll deal with them later, as long as her lungs can keep up. The people, of course, are staring—because they’ve probably never seen the Royal Mage run down the streets like her life depended on it.
And it did— by the gods it did.
“Sorry!” she squeals, narrowly avoiding a man carting his groceries. She nearly trips and falls, catching herself at the edge of an outdoor table, surprising the couple that dined there. “Don’t mind me!” She laughs nervously—then sets to running once again. She heaves—and then she smiles, because it’s wonderful—there is laughter and chaos at every corner of this city—of their new home. It’s maddening—the desperation of running after the love of her life—the joy it brings to know that she loves her back—the feeling that the city is alive—cheering her on, leading her right where she needs to be—
And then—there she is.
Marcille is panting so hard her chest is hurting.
She thought she’d be farther but—but Falin was facing back the way she came, her hand wrapped around the charm that hung around her neck. She could see Falin’s eyes widen, but Marcille made no attempt to slow down, throwing herself forward and ever closer—
Marcille reaches out, grasping at the cloth of Falin’s cloak—taking fistfuls of happiness into her hands—refusing to let go.
“Falin—” Marcille sobs, throwing herself against Falin’s body. Falin holds her by the arms to keep them both steady before they fall over. She brings her hands to Marcille’s face—wiping away her tears—shushing her gently with a string of words so sweet they tasted like nectar.
“—I want us to have a garden, and a cellar to make our own ale—” Marcille tells her resolutely. “—I want lazy mornings that start with your—stupidly—beautiful—eyes. Everyday." She promises. "Every morning.”
Falin is smiling through her tears. “Can we stay in on rainy days? I want to cook your favorite food—”
“Yes!” Marcille grins, her watery eyes shining with tears and—and devotion. “—and evenings where I can have you all to myself—”
Falin nods with a laugh.
“—be with me—” Marcille is pleading.
“Yes—”
“—marry me—” she says through a sob, a laugh—
“Yes,” Falin is whispering against her lips, almost wants to pick her up. “Yes—”
“Stay?”
A/N:
Hello! I listened to the song Dogs Days Are Over by Florence + The Machine (YT link to vid) and it destroyed my brain chemistry and i had to write this. If you have the time, pls do hear it! I spent a day or two thinking about Marcille and how I feel like she struggles a lot with feeling like she can be happy... what with everything that's happened with Falin & her friends - how much anguish and pain it caused them when they saw what happened to Falin after her decision to bring her back. I can envision her thinking that she got away so lucky with everything - and that taking anything more would be desiring too much. I looked into the song's lyrics and it's about this person who is confronted by a sudden happines - and they don't know what to do. They run away from it and don't realize that it's good for them, because it's scary and confusing, especially with them thinking they don't deserve it. And I wanted Marcille to be confronted with the joy that Falin gives her in that way - for her to be taken in by surprise, confused, until she realizes that it's okay - it's okay that she wants this - and for her to realize it and grab it of her own will The song goes up and down - it sounds like pockets of melancholy punctured by an urgent need to face something thats good. The last chorus rly moved me, where it feels like the person in the song has come to the realization that this joy is unavoidable and the music swells - and it makes me thinking of running through a city to chase after it - so that's what i wrote it as LOL. so self indugent, even this rambling author's note. this is for some new and old friends: icarus, lyd, toast, tato, homagetoerrata - you have let me spew dungeon meshi in your direction and allowed a space for my introspection and shit and im so grateful for that and in a different way - dedicated to veramoray, who i love and thought about constantly while i wrote what is basically 4k worded love letter to being happy ty - i well and truly hope that you enjoyed!
*spins the meta wheel* yeah okay, let's talk about Nandor.
One of the things that's always fascinated me most about his character is the way he desperately wants change but also seems to be more terrified of it than all the other characters put together. He talks about wanting things to be different a lot, but he always sabotages anything that might really materially change his life.
Like -- this quest for love. He talks about how much he wants a partner, he wants his life to change, but what do we actually see? In s3 and the beginning of s4, he's just consistently going after women who don't really want him instead of spending time developing the relationships he already has. He dips into shallow relationship after shallow relationship because the real relationships, the ones that might actually change his life, terrify him. The best/worst of these is probably the cult dedicated to literally living in a fantasy version of the past, which like. Not really helping him beat those afraid-of-change allegations.
(You can learn all the 80s and 90s songs you want, Nandor, we both know only Guillermo is exposing you to modern pop culture! And yeah, there's more than one metaphor there...)
And then in s4, he decides he wants a wife, so he chooses one in the most haphazard way possible and makes both of their lives miserable. He is constantly changing her to make her easier for him to deal with without actually changing his life, and then he gets rid of her when he's fed up with the monster that he's created.
His whole thing with the Djinn is that he's constantly asking him to change things -- and then change them back. He wastes so many wishes on things like Marwa. I want this. No, that. No, that. No, put it all back to the way it was originally.
He does this over and over and over, and nothing seems to perturb him more than finding out that things have changed when he wasn't looking. (See: his difficulty accepting that Laszlo is creating relationships with other people, his spiraling over the big bang, etc.)
So... how does this pertain to Guillermo?
Guillermo's frustrated with Nandor at the end of s4 because Nandor likes the status quo. Things are different, are constantly changing, but Nandor refuses to acknowledge any of that. (He even mentions off-hand that he forgets Guillermo is a slayer sometimes.) Guillermo has always worked for them all under the promise of change, so you could see why this would freak him out a little. He's realizing that things will never change with Nandor because Nandor won't let them. He's so scared of change that he just straight-up ignores it and hopes it will go away -- when he's not actively trying to stop it.
Nandor, who has been making and breaking plans with an almost manic frenzy for the entire season, is finally calm at the end of s4. Why? Because he thinks that everything has gone back to normal. Marwa is gone. Freddie is gone. Guillermo is no longer talking about leaving. Those are the important ones for him, but then Colin Robinson also returns and the house is set to rights, too, so like... why should he worry?
He has no idea what he's already lost. That's what's making me crazy. He doesn't know that he's already lost everything that matters to him. But I think he suspects.
The thing is, Nandor throws himself into his books and his self-help and everything else because I think he can tell, at least on a subconscious level, that things have changed. Indelibly. He knows that Guillermo has changed, and that's probably the one kind of change that scares him more than anything else.
But despite the fact that Nandor can tell that something is up, he still keeps insisting that it's no big deal. It must be some small perceived slight or something. It can't be a huge change that Guillermo is keeping from him. No, no, he already figured that out. He managed to reel Guillermo back in with the wedding scheme. He doesn't have to worry about Guillermo straying again.
:')
He's afraid of losing Guillermo to change, so he prevents change and ignores what he can't prevent. He doesn't realize that that's exactly what's driving Guillermo away. That it's already driven Guillermo away. Nandor's put the idea of Guillermo's transformation up on a shelf, nice to look at occasionally but not a thing he really has to interact with. The theoretical option for change is there, but he doesn't have to worry about it actually affecting his life.
As always, he's attracted to it, but it also scares him. He'll make a glitter portrait of a vampiric Guillermo at his side, but he can't seem to fully get his head (and heart) around the reality of giving Guillermo that kind of power and freedom.
He's afraid that giving Guillermo that kind of power/freedom will change their relationship further, when he's finally gotten it the way he (thinks he) likes it, and he's even more afraid that if Guillermo's leash is taken off, he'll run. He spent all of s4 trying to keep Guillermo from running, but he still seems to believe down deep that he'll do it.
And... he wasn't wrong. Guillermo did go elsewhere to get his bite. But Nandor is very much the one who drove him to do it. I think that's the tragic thing, isn't it? He was so afraid of his relationship with Guillermo changing that he forced Guillermo's hand, which caused the exact kind of change that he was most afraid of. Guillermo distancing himself, Guillermo leaving, Guillermo -- well, cuckolding him, really.
I think it's fixable, but Guillermo's not the only person who's going to need to eat dirt here. He may have been the one who "cheated", from the vampires' POV, but Nandor wasn't upholding his end of the deal, either. And he's going to have to acknowledge the way Guillermo has grown and changed throughout the course of the series, stop regressing to calling him his familiar, and apologize for his own inaction. It may not be the vampiric way, but it certainly would not be the first time Nandor has thrown away vampiric customs for Guillermo.
Nandor, friend, you gotta sit back and learn to embrace change. You gotta enter the 21st century. You gotta allow your relationship with Guillermo to grow organically.
Because Guillermo's gonna change one way or another, and it's really your decision whether or not he leaves you behind. :')
You can also read the whole conversation in transcript form under the cut:
Host: Dear listeners, it's to my great honour and joy that we're hosting probably the most popular band in Slovenia at the moment, the moment lasting quite a while, but that's enough talking. Joker Out here in Radio Maribor's studio, hello.
Joker Out: Yeah, hello. Hi. Hello.
Host: Four out of five have crammed themselves in here, into our studio, and we'll start at the end, so with the latest single 'Bluza'. What can we say about 'Bluza'?
Bojan: 'Bluza' is the fourth single from our third studio album, which will be called 'Souvenir Pop'.
Host: Okay.
Bojan: It comes out on the 15th of November. The album doesn't really have a common theme audio-wise, just as souvenirs from longer travels usually don't have one. We see a lot of different places, different people, different cuisines and smells. And that's how this album will be too, which kind of works like all the memories we've acquired in a year and a half, let's say, since starting our Eurovision journey. And 'Bluza' is, let's say, this... ballad that includes synthesised sounds a bit more than usual. There's also quite a lot of back vocals, so we really played with synthesising a fair bit, and with vocal layering. But it ends in a sort of more classically rock style then.
Host: And if maybe bands, in Slovenia, too, like to make sure that an album has some kind of common theme, you went in a completely different direction.
Bojan: Yeah, we always go in another direction, usually, and... But I wouldn't say we do it intentionally, but let's say that with this album, it actually is conceptually planned that way, yeah.
Host: So all of the songs will be a bit different, right? There won't be a common theme.
Bojan: No.
Host: But it'll still be the recognisable Joker Out sound or style.
Bojan: Yeah, generally, if it comes from us, we think it's our style. Now... We've already had, let's say, a few moments of deviation from the so called classically recognisable style and that's how it'll be on this album, too.
Host: The next thing I'm curious about is your previous single, titled 'Šta bih ja'. What can you say about this one? We haven't hosted you yet with that single.
Bojan: Tell us, Kris.
Kris: 'Šta bih ja' is really the first song created during our two month stay in London. It's actually sort of... music, audio and message wise, the song that sort of represents our inner thoughts, I mean, our feelings, in London, where we realised... Where we first realised what it's like to be a foreigner in a country, what it's like to navigate a huge, endless city. And actually from that, then out poured a sort of totally Yugo, Yugo rock nostalgic song, that's actually really, really fun to play live.
Host: And if we're on the topic again, that some bands can do it by going to London to record for maybe a week and then they come back. No, you really moved to London, lived there, breathed in the air, and that's where the new album was created.
Bojan: That's where the inspiration for this album actually began. Really, the plan for London was to step away a bit from an environment that's familiar and comfortable to us. That we go there together, of course, to, for the first time, move into a space and to combine all the energy which accumulated over the years of our cooperation into two months of coexistence. And it's interesting to follow how the dynamics actually change, once you move in together with your partners, which we practically are, well, it’s like this sort of camaraderie. So yeah, we went to live in London for two months and it was very fun. Like Kris said, we were foreigners for the first time, we went to work, but at the same time we were sort of on holiday in our minds, because we didn't have any written schedules, we were our own bosses. So, an interesting experience.
Host: Is it important to you, to go out of your, like how the English say, "comfort zone"? That you get into a foreign environment, where everything is a bit new.
Nace: I mean, it definitely awakens some new, some new inspiration, something new, to... that is also, I think, evident in the music and our mutual relationship.
Jan: We had to move abroad so that we're even more rooted in our own familiar sound.
Bojan: That's it.
Host: But it's interesting that you didn't get that much of an English influence out of it, at least in terms of music, but you returned to your origins – maybe in quotation marks for some – so, the Balkans.
Bojan: Yes, Žarko Pak, our producer, came to London after us with a month and a half delay. And when we showed him what we've made, including 'Šta bih ja', he was smoking a cigarette and said: "Eh, is this what I sent you to London for, to do this, or what? What would happen if you were sent to Mostar to a studio, you'd go full on Beatles."
Host: So you surprised Žarko Pak, too...
Bojan: Absolutely.
Host: ... who's probably seen and heard many things.
Bojan:  He has, yeah.
Host: So from this London experience comes a Balkan album, there's a Balkan tour coming, which we'll talk about a bit more later. Now we're listening to the first single 'Bluza', which you performed live at Radio Si a few minutes ago, and now on Radio Maribor, too.
[Acoustic performance of ‘Bluza’.]
Host: Joker Out are still with us, we're listening to their music, and moving onto Eurovision for a bit. So, a question that probably isn't left out at any interview, or rarely. I have to, I'm curious myself. I was super proud of you, because it was the first time that a Slovenian band had such a perfect performance, so perfectly planned, you prepared so perfectly, you were everywhere. Usually Slovenian bands that represent us at the Eurovision Song Contest win at EMA, then there's a bit of calm, then there's the music video, maybe they show up in a show or two on foreign televisions, and that's it. But you really... Hats off to you.
Kris: Thank you.
Bojan: Thank you very much. It's very nice to hear that, and actually we also, during Eurovision, felt the support from home, very very nicely. And even when we returned from Liverpool, despite not getting the best result, we felt and also got back feedback that this event was followed with so much enthusiasm, love, support. And that really pleased us and I think that was also one of the main factors for why we did this the way we did, because it’s definitely important to have the wind in your sails, with these things.
Host: And it definitely also opened the door to Europe to you, which is now paying off with big tours, festival performances and so on.
Bojan: Absolutely.
Host: 'Carpe Diem' was the one that was at Eurovision, and for 'Carpe Diem' you went to Hamburg. That's where you recorded this song, so London, Hamburg, you're basically all over Europe.
Bojan: Yeah, the Beatles went from London to Hamburg, we went from Hamburg to... no, sorry, from Liverpool to Hamburg. And we went from Hamburg to Liverpool.
Kris: And then back to Hamburg.
Bojan: But look, we went back to Hamburg. Can someone take over?
Kris: Yeah, I mean, you know what, we recorded 'Carpe Diem' in a very, very good atmosphere in Hamburg, in that studio, called Clouds Hill. We then decided that... that we'd definitely return there for the rest of the album. And then we came back for one full month. I think now, we're fed up with it for quite some time, but another album was made there.
Host: In terms of going abroad, you also collaborated, one almost can't believe it, with Elvis Costello. How did that happen?
Bojan: Yeah, we also can't believe it. Anyway... Long story short. We happened to get, through a gentleman we know, who lives in Liverpool, the information that he actually knows Elvis and that the two are friends. Stephen, this man from Liverpool, is our big fan and supporter and he showed Elvis our music, and while listening to the second album, 'Novi val' kind of stuck in his ear. And got enough of his attention that Elvis offered to write an English version of the lyrics and a very short while later called us, too, saying he'd be interested in a duet, which we, of course, immediately accepted, with the utmost delight, because we were fans of Elvis's music before, too. And yeah, that's how it all then happened very quickly, and that actually came during Eurovision time, we released 'New Wave' before Eurovision. So that was a very energy-filled time for us.
Host: You didn't record with him, but the song was created...
Bojan: Exactly. He recorded the vocals in New York, where he lives, and we really didn't have any concrete plan that we'd meet in real life, too, because we always met only through video calls. And then it coincidentally happened on tour, on our Nordic tour, we found out at the first concert in Oslo that Elvis had a concert in the Oslo opera a day before us. And we wrote to him that it'd be great to see him, that we're coming to the concert and he said, "boys, you're going to come play 'Novi val', or 'New Wave', with me." So we suddenly found ourselves in the Oslo opera, and we played 'New Wave' with Elvis Costello and Steve Nieve. Which was truly, when you look at it, quite crazy.
Host: I'll keep digging within that same family, is there any interest in a collab with Diana Krall? Although maybe that's not exactly your cup of tea, like you'd say.
Jan: Diana, if you're listening, we're available.
Bojan: We're available.
Kris: Yeah, they say she's even harder to reach than Elvis, so.
Host: Maybe he'll give her a hint. A performance and a song, we now move over a bit to Gušti's concert, which took place a few days or a few weeks ago in Ljubljana. You performed there as well, of course. Not only as a family, but also in other ways. And with Gušti, you wrote and performed a song titled 'Tudi jaz'.
Bojan: It was written by Gušti.
Host: Yes.
Bojan: We performed it.
Kris: And played it.
Bojan: Yes. So, we sang and played it. It was the song 'Tudi jaz', which was created for a TV show which was supposed to happen, but in the end it didn't. The TV show was about children with special needs, and Gušti kind of felt that it would be nice for young people to contribute a musical piece, an opening theme, and through a strange set of circumstances, he asked his son's band. And then, of course, we recorded it. The song was never officially released, right, because the show never happened either. Until now, when Gušti included it in his album, and we are, of course, honoured by that. It's interesting to see something resurface after a long time, and take shape.
Host: Was this one of your first serious projects in a studio space?
Kris: It was...
Host: Or maybe even the very first?
Kris: It wasn’t the first; the first one was 'Kot srce, ki kri poganja', but this one came right after. And maybe it wasn’t a completely serious studio, because we recorded it in a rehearsal space.
Bojan: Oh, come on, you can't diss that studio, it was a great studio.
Kris: I mean, look, it was a decent studio, but it was a bit homemade, you know.
Bojan: Yeah, well, that's true...
Kris: But in any case, yeah, it was... I remember Jan and I recorded together for the first time back then. Do you remember? We recorded that solo together. And I think maybe...
Jan: When we alternated.
Kris: Yes, yes, yes. That felt like... I was really proud of that at the time, that we recorded a solo together.
Jan: Yes, yes. Harmony.
Kris: Harmony, yes.
Host: But the disappointment wasn't too big, considering that the song was never officially released until now?
Kris: Not really, why?
Jan: It wasn't released, but we actually played it a lot in concerts, even at Cvetličarna.
Bojan: We played it for the first presentation of the first album.
Kris: Three years ago.
Bojan: Yes. We preferred playing original songs over covers.
Host: Okay.
Bojan: So we took every possible opportunity for the original songs, whichever way possible, to be included in our concert setlists, and as you said, 'Tudi jaz' stayed on the setlist for quite a while.
Host: You also performed quite a bit at festivals this year, some of which were the biggest festivals in the world. You were at Sziget, you were at Exit again. Are there any other festivals that you performed at that left a powerful impression on you?
Bojan: Absolutely. Ruisrock in Finland.
Kris: Summer Well in Bucharest, Romania.
Bojan: Fantastic festival.
Kris: An excellent festival, yes.
Jan: Those were probably the top four.
Bojan: Those were the top four, I'd say. Exit, Sziget...
Jan: Summer Well.
Bojan: ...Ruisrock and Summer Well were real highlights.
Host: And during these festivals, did any of the performers really stick in your memory?
Bojan: I’d say that in Romania, I... we all stayed to listen to Two Door Cinema Club and Keane, and Keane completely blew us away. I’ve never heard a better male vocalist live, honestly...
Host: Than Tom Chaplin.
Bojan: At least in the mainstream scene. It was truly amazing, everything, in terms of the sound, the production, the concert. That probably stuck with me the most this year.
Nace: I also remember that we were... Jan and I went to see Prodigy in Germany after our performance. That was a very... visually engaging concert.
Host: Before we wrap up this segment, I’m curious, let’s stay on this topic. Is there anyone else you'd like to see perform live?
Bojan: In general?
Host: Anything goes.
Kris: To share the stage with them, or...
Host: Both, maybe, either to share the stage, collaborate, or just watch them and think, "Ah, that’s it."
Bojan: I’d love to see Bruno Mars.
Host: Okay. Good one.
Kris: I agree, I agree.
Jan: Maybe in the Silk Sonic setup as well.
Bojan: Uh, yes. That would also be great.
Jan: It would be fantastic.
Bojan: I’d love to see Parcels live.
Host: Okay.
Jan: You haven't seen L'Impératrice yet?
Bojan: I haven’t seen L'Impératrice, but I’d also...
Jan: Did they...
Nace: Now you won't.
Kris: I’d love to share the stage with Arctic Monkeys, for sure.
Host: Okay.
Kris: That would be...
Host: Though their last album is really different from all the others they've released.
Kris: It’s different, but I think it’s great that they’re different. Honestly, I also think that our new album was influenced by some of Arctic Monkeys's more recent albums.
Bojan: Like 'Everybody’s Waiting,' for example.
Kris: Some of the slower songs. So that's something near and dear to us as well.
Host: Joker Out, live on Radio Maribor.
[song break]
Host: Joker Out are still here with me. We’re talking about everything. And now the third album titled 'Souvenir Pop' is coming up. You announced the title on Friday. Why 'Souvenir Pop'? Does the title hold a special meaning? You’ve already mentioned that the album is a mix of different songs.
Bojan: Yes, as I mentioned earlier, for the first time in our lives, we were influenced by a long period of travelling. We were literally living out of a suitcase. I think we all had at least two or three suitcases packed with clothes, which we then swapped among ourselves, throwing the dirty ones into the laundry. Our lives, for the past year and a half, felt like we were collecting souvenirs. We practically woke up every morning in a different city, in a different country, often in cities or countries we’d never been before. And all these memories and events are kind of our souvenirs. And it's captivating, Kris said it beautifully yesterday, that he can very clearly visualise, with almost every song, a place, a smell, a colour, a taste, something that reminds him of a specific event, and I agree with him. And because of that, we feel like this journey, this pop moment, blends beautifully with souvenirs, and 'Souvenir Pop' brings it all together nicely.
Host: How would you say this album is different from the previous two?
Bojan: I’d say it’s a much more mature album in terms of exploring different arrangements, in terms of the preparing the arrangements. Also, lyrically, I hope it’s apparent, or at least from what we have released, I received feedback that they are a step up. I also feel like it's a part of a completely different phase of life, and that shows. There was a lot of instrumental exploration. I think Jan made the biggest leap on this album.
Jan: Yes, I added a few more instruments besides guitar. Mostly synthesizer, actually. With 'Everybody’s Waiting', when we went to the studio in Kočevje, we were kind of stuck, we didn’t know exactly where to go with the arrangement. And then we... I’m not sure who came up with that drum transition, but it kind of set the right mood. Then we saw a Rhodes piano in the control room, so I plugged that Rhodes into an amp. I had never really played the piano before that, I have a pianino at home, so I had just enough knowledge to make that song. And then I kind of got into it. I’m very interested in synthesizers as well, and... That’s also reflected in the... In the music of the upcoming album, yes, lots of synthesizers, electric pianos, and stuff like that.
Host: And you’re going to present everything with a big Balkan tour, starting on November 22nd with a sold-out concert at Cvetličarna. Does that mean fans will be able to hear 'Souvenir Pop' in full?
Kris: Yes.
Bojan: Exactly, that’s what it means. On this tour, we will play the entire 'Souvenir Pop' album, but I should emphasise, that doesn’t mean we won’t play songs from the first two albums, because many people send messages asking, "Does this mean you’ll only play the new music and nothing old?" No, absolutely not, you’ll be attending a very classic concert, which will include all 10 songs from the new album. Tickets are still available for the second concert at Cvetličarna, which takes place the next day, on Saturday. There aren’t many left, but there are some, so anyone who wants to come to Ljubljana is welcome. On December 6th, we’ll be at Štuk in Maribor, so you are more than welcome to come to this concert as well.
Kris: I would just add that I think this will be one of the few opportunities to hear the entire new album live, because later on, or in the new year, we’ll have to adapt our programs for festivals, where you have an hour to... You can't fit all the new material into one hour, so.
Host: Will this tour end in Vienna on December 9th, or will it continue?
Bojan: No, this tour will wrap up in Vienna. In the upcoming year, for the first two months, we'll finally have some time off, meaning we won’t have any obligations tying us down, where in our free time we won't have to answer phones or deal with logistical issues, or work on, I don’t know, preparing songs, making final touches, editing, and so on. So, we plan to have two months off to return fresh, let’s say, in early spring, and start with concerts. We will also perform in Slovenia more next year than in this year.
Host: Is that a promise?
Bojan: That’s a promise we plan to keep.
Host: Okay. You've sold out Stožice Arena, you've had concerts at Tabor Hall in Maribor before. Why have you now decided to perform at Štuk on the 6th of December?
Bojan: For the soul.
Host: Okay.
Bojan: This entire tour that we're doing at the end of the year is basically for the soul. It will take place at home, that is to say, near home, which is all, let's say, home for us, and it will take place in clubs. We've been visiting clubs in Europe for a year and a half now and we realised that it suits us best by far, because we can be close enough to the audience to feel one another, and it's just big enough to not be totally private. And it's where we can let go and relax the most, and I think that the audience also enjoys those concerts the most, so we said, "Let's do this tour in places that we love," and Štuk is definitely one of those places. We've already had three or four concerts at Štuk, maybe. I think it was 3 concerts in Štuk, which were all wonderful and all unique, so yes, we're really looking forward to it.
Host: To keep digging, what are fans from Štajerska like?
Bojan: Top notch.
Kris: Fans from Štajerska have actually very much been there for us since the beginning. We were, I was just talking to someone from Radio Si earlier, about how we were in Maribor five times in 2022.
Bojan: Yes.
Kris: Which is a bizarrely large number, especially looking back on it now, because abroad, you visit maybe one city per year, so to have shown up in Maribor five times, twice at Štuk, at Lampiončki, at Lent, all that... Štajerska has always been quite... It always welcomed us with open arms, so we're also always happy to return.
Bojan: And I'd like to add just one more thing, the first album, 'Umazane misli', was partially made in this house as well, because we recorded the drums and some of the guitars in your studio.
Host: In Studio 22.
Bojan: In Studio 22, exactly. So there you go, there is actually a lot tying us to this city.
Host: I'd like to know something else before we move on, Chrissie Hynde, the singer of The Pretenders, wrote on her social media a few days ago that she has a bit of an issue with the same fans constantly being in the front row at concerts. Is that a problem that perhaps arises for you too, namely, that it's always the same people, we call them "superfans", following you from concert to concert. And that you always see the same ones in... well, more at the front.
Bojan: We absolutely see the same people in the front rows at many, many concerts. I just don't really know where the problematic part is.
Host: Me neither, but I'm curious.
Bojan: Yes, me too.
Kris: Yeah, my mum actually sent me that, on Instagram, like, look what she said. And I was like, yeah, okay, interesting, but you have to be in a pretty weird position to complain about that. I mean, I'm happy to see all those familiar faces there. And anyway, for our concerts, it's usually so that those who want to can buy a ticket for early entry into the venue, so I think it's not an issue that other people wouldn't be able to get what they want. At the same time, we always like to see those that are always there.
Host: December 6th in Štuk, in Maribor, the band Joker Out.
[song break]
Host: Joker Out are still with me, so let's... I'm curious about something. You've focused quite a lot on the Balkan market, and there are more and more songs in, let's say, a non-Slovene language. And while quite a few Slovenian bands decided to sing in English, because they thought it would help them break through internationally, you've chosen the language of our former homeland. Why? I know it's closer to you (Bojan) and so on, but what was the main reason?
Bojan: Well, the main reason was actually that I started to enjoy writing in non-Slovene more and more, and I don't mean that in a derogatory way for Slovene, but it's just that we were away from home so much, we had so much contact with people who spoke this or that language, that I often caught myself thinking in those languages. And ideas actually started cropping up in them and it was clearly just an era of life in which... I created in those languages, right. I'm not a fan of changing the lyrics that are developed as an already very solid story in a specific language, into another language, just for the sake of changing the language. So on this album... that's also what sets it apart, like we said at the beginning. For the first time, we have three languages on the album, Slovene, Serbian, Serbo-Croatian, whatever, and English. So it's already a very colourful album in that regard, but that was never, I'd say, a way to gain an audience abroad or a massive attempt to have a breakthrough abroad, it's truly just a way of thinking, and I think that's a lot more honest than translating everything back into Slovene.
Host: Slightly older Slovenian bands, I'm thinking of Lačni Franz, maybe Pankrti, perhaps Vlado Kreslin, still to this day have cult status in Yugoslavia, in the area of former Yugoslavia.
Bojan: And Buldožerji.
Host: Absolutely, Buldožerji as well, and there's more. But is it time now for Joker Out to break new ground?
Bojan: Absolutely.
Kris: We're already breaking it.
Bojan: We’re breaking it. With shovels for now, but...
Host: Is this success, especially as far as Serbia goes, perhaps also the result of the number of times you performed at Exit?
Bojan: The first time we performed at Exit festival, it was on one of the side stages, and there really wasn't a big, big audience, and even the ones who were there mostly came from Slovenia. But it's very nice, because this year we performed on the main stage, and basically at the prime time, at 15 past 11, if I'm not mistaken, just before Black Eyed Peas, and we had, I don't know, 15 or 20,000 people, who sang our lyrics very smoothly. That was, I would say, a pretty crazy leap.
Host: How do social media posts influence what you do? Perhaps you let certain comments get under your skin a bit, or do you wave them away like, "So what?"
Jan: Well, I think we've kind of stopped reading the comments. I think we've also pretty much all deleted Twitter, because it was starting to slightly negatively affect certain aspects of our psyche. But we still like to post, because it's good, especially now, when we're promoting and making new music, that people know what's coming up and know that there are concerts where they can see us. So it remains a very important part of our everyday life. But sometimes it's better not to read what people think.
Bojan: Yeah, the problem is that it's very much a double-edged sword, because it's really nice to be in touch with fans, right, because above all, they fill you with energy to work, and... We absolutely also often give them, I don't know, a reason for a better day, a reason to smile, and so on. But on the other hand, just like Jan said, it's very hard to filter out those moments when you unintentionally come across something that can very quickly hurt you. And to then find a healthy boundary, that can be kind of complicated sometimes.
Host: And now, the most important question of the day. Just kidding. What does the radio mean to you nowadays? Does it even still mean anything?
Bojan: That's a good question.
Kris: What would I do in this black night without you, radio?
Bojan: Yeah, the radio, I would say... For example, Jure, who's not here, I know he listens to the radio the most by far. The radio means... The thing is, in various aspects, I really stand behind the idea that until you're present in classic media, that is, on the radio, on TV, in the newspapers, you cannot enter the world of... let's say entertainment, successfully. So I don't understand it when someone says, for example: "Who cares if your song isn't on the radio, it doesn't matter, blah blah blah." Social media is absolutely more and more important, but being relevant through the radio, I still consider that to be very serious and very important. But it saddens me that there's less and less radio work on the radios, that is, there's less and less music curation, less and less quality musical journalism, I really miss that, right. We're really lacking music reviews and so on in Slovenia. Like, okay, with you, thankfully, radio editorial work is still alive, but we know that at commercial radios, more and more work is done by artificial intelligence, right, and robots. And that kind of undermines the whole point of the radio for me.
Host: Where will you perform, or will you perform at all, for New Year's and Christmas this year? Or will you enjoy the time after the tour by...
Bojan: That's a good question, perhaps someone knows how to answer it?
Jan: If nothing else, we might play guitar to each other under our Christmas trees.
Kris: Yeah, I think we'll play some more, but I don't know if we can announce anything yet.
Host: I completely understand. And finally, I'd like to know, you've already spoken a bit about the plans for next year, that is, a month or two of complete rest. À propos, what does complete rest mean for a band like you, who are used to being in the studio, working, promoting, how do you...
Bojan: Take all that out of the equation and you get complete rest.
Host: So two months of rest, and then what?
Bojan: Well, then it's on the road again. (singing) Just can't wait to get back on the road again.
Host: So, boys, we will see you and hear you again, as is only right. I'm very happy that you were in the studio with me today, so, Joker Out, on the 6th of December, we're revisiting Štuk hall in Maribor, and before that Cvetličarna, and many other places. And next year, as you've already promised, other places in Slovenia as well.
Bojan: Absolutely.
Host: Boys, thank you very much for this and all the best with the continuation of your musical journey
Bojan: Thank you very much, back at you.
Unexpected Pregnancy headcanons.
Tumblr media
Headcanons on how these guys would react to finding out their s/o in pregnant, comforting their anxious s/o, and just overall pregnancy headcanons. Enjoy <3
Kelby, Myx, Ichiban, and Logan
Kelby
Is absolutely flooded with emotions.
Happiness, excitement, anxiety, shock, etc.
Let's be honest. He's mostly excited to have a lil version of the two of you running around.
His focus changes when he sees that you're overcome with anxiety.
Immediately, his first instinct is to hold you and tell you everything's gonna be alright.
"Hey, it's okay. I know this wasn't planned, but it's all gonna be okay. We're a team, and we can get through this together."
He's honestly the best at calming you down.
And making you laugh as he lists off all the fun things he plans to do with this kid.
"We can play sports together, I can take them to ballgames, this is gonna be awesome!"
His positive vibes are so helpful throughout the whole thing.
But he's absolutely clueless when it comes to pregnancy and what to do.
He's trying his best tho.
Man is a real team player and always ready to try his best and help out.
He's a good listener too, which is great when you're feeling nervous and need to vent a bit.
He heard somewhere that being active during pregnancy is good, so he definitely encourages you to stay as active as possible.
Loves to buy those baby sports outfits.
He thinks it's the cutest thing ever.
Tries to read those Parenting for Dummies books, but he can't understand them one bit.
Is definitely nervous about being a dad and is worried he won't do a good job at it.
Tries his best to keep a game face on, but sometimes it does show, and you notice.
Doesn't take too much prodding on the subject for him to admit it.
Being able to vent to you and some encouragement really helps him out.
My guy has more rebound than a kickball, so it doesn't take much to put him in a good mood.
Laughs every time the baby kicks.
"Looks like they're just as athletic as their dad."
Will often just lovingly stare at your ever-growing belly whenever you guys cuddle.
He's so excited to meet this little mini version of you both.
Myx
His life flashes before his eyes as soon as he sees that positive test.
A million thoughts are rushing through his head.
He's absolutely shocked but so happy.
He's always wanted to be a dad.
Once he comes to and notices his anxious s/o, he immediately holds them so tight.
"It's alright. I'm right here. This is great! We're gonna be parents! We've always wanted this! And I'm right here with you through it all."
His positivity really helps.
If it were up to him, he would've shouted the good news from the rooftops right then and there.
But you convinced him to leave it a surprise a little longer, just in case something went wrong.
He hated not being able to tell anyone.
As soon as you gave him the go-ahead, he told the whole world you were pregnant.
He's positivity really helped throughout the pregnancy.
He was always there for you.
Morning sickness, cravings, emotional meltdowns, he was always there for you.
He's really handy when it comes to setting up the nursery.
Hasn't a clue how to build a crib, but somehow manages to do it even though he threw away the instructions ages ago.
"Pfft! I don't need instructions. I'll just Myx things up a bit!"
And he adds plenty of his creativity to the space.
Loves to sing songs to your unborn child.
Gets excited every time he feels a kick.
Sing songs to the little baby in you belly.
Whilst he is definitely excited to be a father, there is a part of him that is nerve as hell.
Reads all the books and articles on how to be a dad.
Tries to keep it cool around you, but you can see right through him.
You remind him that you two are a team, and he doesn't have to deal with anything alone.
"Thanks, babe. I actually really needed to hear that."
Has to kiss your every growing belly every time he passes by.
100% wants the gender of the baby to be a surprise.
Buys the goofiest baby clothes ever.
Especially if it has dinosaurs on it saying, "Dinosaurs are so cool!"
I mean, he ain't wrong lol
This man supports you so much, and you know he'll make a great dad.
Ichiban
Live Ichiban reaction to finding out you're pregnant:
Tumblr media
Just stands there, jaw on the floor for a straight-up minute.
He's happy ofc but very much in shock.
Until he sees you, how anxious you are about the whole thing.
He immediately snaps out of it and pulls you in for a comforting hug as he strokes your head gently.
"Shhh. It's okay. It's all gonna be okay."
As you calm down, he pulls away just enough so he can give you a kiss.
"See? Told you it'd be okay." He says in a playful tone.
You can't help but laugh.
"And I'm going to be a dad! Can you believe it? I couldn't be happier about this! This is better than when I hit a million subscribers!"
He's such a goofball.
Becomes very informed on pregnancy and what to expect thanks to videos and online resources.
100% accidentally let the big news slip during a live stream.
He's just so excited he couldn't help it lol.
Is so supportive and super cuddly.
He's basically at your beckoned call.
Kisses your baby bump every chance he gets.
Always keeps his followers updated on how things are going (unless it makes you uncomfortable ofc)
Does a gender reveal live stream with you.
Definitely has days where he's a nervous wreck about the idea of being a dad.
And he sucks at hiding it.
Fesses up as soon as you ask him about it.
Poor guy just needs some cuddles, a shoulder to cry on, and words of encouragement.
He cheers up pretty quick.
But he isn't ready to stop cuddling yet lol.
He's such a big softy and will make a grrrreat dad.
Logan
Is absolutely ecstatic about being a dad.
Can't wait to tell his crew!
All those thoughts fade into the background when he sees that you are an anxious wreck.
Similar procedure to Ichiban: Pull you in for a comforting hug and give you words of affirmation.
"Hey, it's okay, babe. It's all gonna be alright. I promise. I'm right here to support you."
Gives you plenty of kisses once you calm down.
He's got all this happiness. What else is he supposed to do with it lol
His excitement is a bit infectious, you have to admit.
This guy is a man with a plan.
Reads all the books and articles on how pregnancy and how to be a dad.
Is probably the least worried about whether or not he'll make a good dad.
And any concerns he has, he's pretty open about them.
Vows to support you as much as he possibly can.
He's got child-safety measures for most everything.
But not in an overbearing way.
Buys the cutest baby clothes.
Loves to carry you around.
Has full-on conversations with the baby in your belly.
His face when he felt the baby kick for the first time was priceless.
He just sat there for a second with the biggest "Holy sh*t" face you'd ever seen.
Once his brain processed what had just happened, he got so excited.
"Did you feel that?! They just kicked! Our baby just kicked! Omg!"
You can't help but laugh.
He's such a sweet guy lol
Still gets a little excited every time he feels a kick.
He's got the makings of an amazing dad.
thank y’all for your patience for this part and as a treat it’s an extra long one and posted just in time for dolly’s birthday (today, the 19th) and my own (tomorrow, the 20th). see you around for part 6!
[part 1] [part 2] [part 3] [part 4] [part 6 + complete on ao3]
part 5: baby i’m burnin’
For a just a moment as he looks into Steve’s big hazel eyes, Eddie’s entire world stands still and just two questions echo through his mind.
One: what the hell is Steve doing here?
Two: how much of that song did Steve hear and will he be able to connect the dots?
Okay, technically he has three questions but he doesn’t have time to think about any of them because the longer he’ll stay here, the longer Steve will have time to decipher the puzzle that’s lying right in front of him, right there in Eddie’s eyes. Eddie obviously can’t have that, so he stands up, drops the guitar onto the floor, pushes past Steve and heads towards the exit. He hears Pat and Tish say something, some kind of protest but it doesn’t register in his brain as he slams the door shut behind him.
It’s still coming down in buckets once he steps outside, but it still better than staying inside, to be in the same room with Steve and those damn puppy eyes of his. He jogs to his van, patting his jeans pockets in search for his keys, only to come up empty.
Fuck. The keys must still be in his leather jacket. Which he left upstairs. Inside the bar.
For a moment, Eddie contemplates just walking all the way back to Hawkins but the continuous rain pour stops him from doing yet another incredibly stupid thing. He kicks the side of the van - it already has enough dents so what’s one more? - and turns on his heel to go back inside.
Only to be once again greeted by Steve.
“Get lost, Harrington.” Eddie bites out before Steve can even get a word in. He pushes past Steve once again, not-so-accidentally bumping into him to really get the point across.
“Eddie, wait!” Steve grabs him by the wrist, stopping him dead in his tracks.
“Let. Me. Go.” Eddie’s eyes are flaming with anger as Steve nods slowly in response, fingers releasing their grip but lingering just a moment before they completely move away.
“Eddie, please, just listen to me for one second.” Steve pleads. “I came here because you didn't show up at my place tonight and I was worried about you.”
“You were worried about me?” Eddie snaps. “You should’ve thought about that before you ditched me for some fucking date. Thanks for the heads up by the way, really appreciate it.”
Eddie’s already moving back towards the bar when Steve speaks up again, annoyance written all over his voice. “I ditched you? You were the one who didn’t show up at my house in the first place!”
Is this guy for real? Does he really not see the problem of having a friend over during a first date? Eddie feels his blood boil hotter by the second, and since Steve is probably staring at him with those big doe-eyes of his, like he did nothing wrong, something inside Eddie just snaps. He whips his head around, his wet hair flinging water droplets through the air.
“Yeah, because you had a goddamn date coming over and so excuse me for not wanting to be a fuckin’ third-wheel with the guy I’m in love with!”
The silence that follows is deafening as Eddie slowly realizes what he just said.
Oh fuck.
This was not how this was supposed to go. He had a plan, he had moves, he had this whole thing figured out before Dustin dropped the bomb about Steve’s date. Then the plan changed and Eddie made a vow to never say another word about his feelings for Steve to anyone.
Until now, apparently.
“You… you’re in love with me?” Steve asks, his voice almost a whisper over the sound of the pouring rain.
There’s no use in lying at this point, Eddie’s pretty sure that his face is saying everything that Steve needs to know right now. He could deny it all he wants, but deep-down he know that Steve’ll see right through him. He always has.
Eddie nods slowly, his anger making way for embarrassment and anxiety. He looks away, his racing heart prevents him from looking Steve in the eye. His shoulder sag as he somehow finds the courage to talk again.
“Just… just go. Go be with your date or whatever. I’ll.. I’ll just back off. We don’t need to see each other if you don’t want to and- and I totally understand if you don’t wanna be friends anymore. I mean I get it, totally get it and-”
But before Eddie can finish his sentence, Steve interrupts him, suddenly standing much closer than before. “I’m not going anywhere.”
Eddie narrows his eyes at him. “Why not?”
“Oh my God.” Steve almost whines. “Because you were my date, Eddie!”
Wait, what? That can’t be right.
“I… no. No, we weren’t going on a date, we were having a movie night.” Eddie stammers. “A movie night that you forgot about and- and- no, this wasn’t a date.”
“Tell that to the freshly made pasta and wine I had to put in the fridge because you didn’t show up.” Steve scoffs. He runs a hand through his wet hair, then over his face, shaking off the remainder of water. “Or the dozen roses I bought to put on the table because this-” He gestures between them “-was supposed to be a date.”
The roses. Those goddamn roses that Dustin told him about, they were for him? Eddie’s mind is reeling with all this new information, unable to form a coherent thought.
“Wait, did you forget that we were going on a date?” Steve asks. He ducks his head in an attempt to force Eddie to look at him. When Eddie finally does, he’s taken aback by how soft Steve’s eyes are, how surprisingly amused he looks by all of this.
Eddie thinks back to earlier that week, when he was loitering around Family Video after his shift at the garage. He and Steve had been talking like any other day, though Eddie had been particularly flirty in that moment, teasing Steve till his face was beet-red and followed by a bright smile and a quiet ‘shut up, Eddie’.
Customers had come in then, demanding Steve’s attention. But right before he attended to them, Steve had turned around, almost looking shy.
“What are you doing on Friday?”
Eddie shrugged. “Other than contemplating my existence and overthinking all of my sins? Not much.”
“Good.” Steve had laughed. “You wanna come to my place for dinner and a movie? I’ll be making my Nana’s pasta primavera.”
“Ooh, you know how the way to my heart, Steve.” Eddie said, dramatically lying a hand over his heart. “As long as you provide the food, I’ll be there.”
Steve had beamed at him right then and there, like Eddie had personally handed him a ten-thousand dollar check. “Great! It’s a da-”
The sound of a customer repeatedly dinging the bell on the counter had interrupted the rest of his sentence and Eddie hadn’t thought much of it at the time. But now… now he knows exactly what Steve was going to say.
It’s a date.
Silence hangs heavy in the air. The downpour muffles the ringing in Eddie’s ears as he tries to wrap his head around all of this.
Steve wanted tonight to be a date.
Steve wanted to go on a date with him.
Steve likes him.
What the actual fuck.
“Hey, hey, it’s okay.” Steve mutters. He grabs Eddie’s hands, thumbs softly running across his knuckles and it’s only then that Eddie realizes that his hands have been trembling all this time. “You wanna go back inside? The rain-”
“You… you like me.” Eddie chokes out.
“Yeah, thought that was kinda obvious at this point.” Steve laughs. “But apparently, it wasn’t so I’m sorry, I should’ve-”
Eddie shakes his head, squeezes Steve’s hands a little tighter. “No, no way. If anyone should apologize it’s me. I should’ve just called you when Dustin told me about your date and I should’ve noticed that you were asking me out and I-”
“Eddie…” Steve says softly.
One of his hands lets go of Eddie’s, only for it to move up to his face. His thumb softly brushes away the droplets of rainwater on his cheek, on his jaw, on his lips. There’s an unspoken question in Steve’s eyes, asking for permission as they wander down to Eddie’s lips, then back up again.
A simple nod from Eddie is enough to answer that silent question.
Steve’s hand comes to join the other on Eddie’s jaw, cradling his face so gently, like he’s holding a precious gemstone. The way he pulls Eddie towards him, however, is anything but gentle and Eddie almost trips over his own feet, grabbing onto Steve’s waist for balance. And despite the coolness of the rain water, Steve feels warm underneath the soaked pink fabric of his button-down.
There’s a second where Eddie thinks he sees Steve hesitating - his breathing heavy, eyes once again asking for permission, as if Eddie’s ever going to back away now. Eddie fights the urge to roll his eyes and leans in, pressing his lips against Steve’s.
As far as first kisses go, Eddie has had a few. Always rough, always rushed, always dirty. Never with anyone that mattered, never with anyone that cared, never like this.
Because this isn’t anything like those other first kisses, because Steve’s kisses are soft, gentle even. It’s like he’s saying sorry over and over again against Eddie’s lips and it’s this soft gesture that somehow manages to set Eddie’s entire body on fire, burning from the inside out in the best way possible.
The rain water makes it easier for their lips to glide against one another and it instantly makes Eddie crave more. His grip on Steve’s waist tightens, making Steve gasp in response and Eddie makes good use of that split second to lick his way into Steve’s mouth.
Steve tastes like rainwater and mint and Eddie fights back a smile - he must’ve taken a breath mint before coming here, a boy scout always comes prepared after all. The taste of it, of Steve, is frankly addicting and Eddie kisses back harder, but still as slow as before, reveling at the soft sounds Steve’s making at the back of his throat.
They have to pull away for air at some point and Eddie groans in annoyance. He needs to make up for lost time and this wasn’t nearly enough, oxygen be damned.
“As romantic as this is-” Steve laughs when Eddie places kisses all over his face - his cheeks, his forehead, the tip of his nose. “-can we please go back inside? This rain is ruining my jeans.”
“Oh, well, we wouldn’t want that, now would we?” Eddie grins and with a final kiss to Steve’s lips, he pulls away to go back inside and escape the rain.
-xxx-
Pat and Tish are a bit weary when Eddie walks back inside the bar with Steve in tow and even Steve’s usual charming smile doesn’t seem to deter them from glaring daggers at him.
Eddie’s heart melts a bit at their protectiveness, but he assures them that they talked things out, that things are good now. Pat nods approvingly and invites Steve to come talk to her later and even though her glare has faded, Eddie is still a little scared of her on Steve’s behalf. Tish, on the other hand, immediately squeals with joy and tries to pull both of them in a hug, only backing away when she realizes that they’re soaking wet.
“We need to get you boys some dry clothes.” Tish says.
“No, no, we’ll be on our way.” Steve shakes his head. “Don’t wanna be any trouble.”
“Nonsense. You’re one of us now.” Tish lovingly pats his cheek. “C’mon, we got plenty of clothes in the lost and found and if that fails, we always got Pat’s closet to dig around in.”
Steve looks so very confused and Eddie just laughs, head thrown back as they follow Tish back upstairs. She hands them a cardboard box filled with various clothing items that had been left in the bar over the years and directs them to Pat’s part of the closet.
“I’ll leave you guys to it.” Tish says, walking back to the hallway. She turns around in the doorway, a knowing smile on her lips. “Oh and by the way, these walls are pretty thin, so don’t get any ideas.”
“Okay, bye Tish!” Eddie says quickly, face turning pink at the implication of her words.  He clears his throat and turns to Steve. “Sorry about her.”
“Nah, it’s alright. She’s got nothing to worry about.”
“Wow, we’re, what- ten minutes into this whole relationship crap and you’re already saying you don’t want to jump my bones?” Eddie asks, mock-offended. “Not off to a great start there, Steve.”
“Oh, I’m not saying that.” Steve cocks his head to the side, smirking. “Just saying that I’m not that easy.”
Eddie scoffs. “What? You need winin’ and dinin’ to get in the mood?”
“Certainly helps.” Steve shrugs. There’s a twinkle in his eyes that Eddie can’t quite explain. That is until he remembers what Steve had told him earlier - about the wine and the roses and the dinner in the fridge - and he suddenly feels his face heat up again. There’s a lot you can say about Steve, but he’s definitely a man with a plan.
“Anyway…” Eddie clears his throat. “Let’s find some clothes yeah?”
Lucky for them, the clothes in the lost and found box actually fit them pretty well. Sure the jeans are a bit baggier than both of their usual styles, but at least they don’t need a belt to keep it from falling off. But much to Eddie’s dismay, Steve has to take off his button-down since it’s completely drenched
That moment of dismay is short-lived because now Eddie is faced with Steve’s bare chest on full display. He’d seen it before, way back when at Lover’s Lake but he didn’t allow himself to spare Steve a second glance. Didn’t allow himself to look, but oh boy is he looking now. Even with all the scars swirling around his skin, he’s still one the most beautiful men Eddie has ever laid eyes upon. Plus, there is that chest hair that had been torturing him since the moment he spotted it peaking out of that same pink button-down.
Steve catches him staring, right when he’s about to pull on some bland white t-shirt over his head. He stops, lowers his arms and smirks at Eddie. “You do know you’re staring, right?”
“I know.” Eddie nods, smiling. “Think I’m allowed to at this point, don’t you?”
He watches as Steve lets the shirt drop to the floor and his heart speeds up when he notices that Steve is staring right back at him, dark eyes roaming up and down his body. But it’s the look that does it, that look of hunger and desire in Steve’s eyes, that sets Eddie’s insides aflame.
It’s as if Steve can read his mind, because soon as Eddie takes a step forward, Steve does as well, meeting him halfway. There’s a moment where they both just look at each other, waiting who’s going to cave in first. In the end, Eddie isn’t really sure who was the first to lean in, all he knows is that this kiss is vastly different than their first.
No longer soft and tender, the kiss is feverish and frantic with hands roaming over damp, bare skin, pulling each other flush against each other. Their first kiss made Eddie’s brain go all soft and gooey, but this kiss... This kiss makes it go static. Hyper aware of every single one of Steve’s movements, every swipe of his tongue, every bite of his teeth, every nail that digs into his skin.
Steve seems to have a similar reaction, judging by the way he’s desperately moaning when Eddie’s hands find their way into his hair and pull his head to the side for better access to his mouth.
“Be quiet.” Eddie pants against Steve’s lips. “Thin walls, remember?
Steve whines, face scrunched up in annoyance and pulls away. “Fine.”
“Aww Stevie, what’s wrong?” Eddie teases, nails scratching against Steve’s scalp. “You seem a little worked up but… didn’t you say you ain’t that easy?”
Steve’s eyes darken, his breathing heavy as he takes a step back and runs a hand through his hair. It’s literally unfair how hot he looks when doing that and Eddie just wants to pull him right back for more.
“You… you must know what you’re doing to me with that damn accent of yours.” Steve croaks. He looks flustered, even though he definitely had his tongue halfway down Eddie’s throat just moments ago and it makes the flurry of butterflies inside Eddie’s stomach grow ten sizes.
“Darlin’, I don’t know what you mean.” Eddie winks.
He hears Steve cursing under his breath as Eddie turns around to dig through the lost and found box again. All of the shirts are objectively terrible or don’t fit him at all and even though he knows he’ll just need to pick something dry to wear, he still wants to look good. He has a reputation to uphold after all.
And it’s like the universe is smiling down at him because at the very bottom of the box, Eddie finds a black button-down. A Western cut shirt, in fact, complete with contrasting red piping and embroidered roses underneath the collar.
Oh, Steve’s gonna love this.
He’s rolling up the sleeves as he turns around, only to find that Steve’s too busy looking in the mirror and messing with hair to notice him. Eddie clears his throat and Steve finally tears his eyes away from his reflection
“Well, fuck.” Steve groans once he notices what Eddie’s wearing, unable to keep his eyes off Eddie for another second.
“I believe that now it’s you who’s staring, darlin’.” Eddie smirks
“Oh, I think I’m allowed, don’t you?” Steve says, parroting Eddie’s words back to him. He closes the distance between them again, pulling Eddie by his belt loops. “We better go back downstairs.”
“Why’s that?”
“Because I’m not sure how much these walls can drown out if we stay here much longer.”
-xxx-
The bar is open once they get downstairs and Tish immediately pulls them aside and puts two plates of spicy fried chicken and cornbread in front of them.
“On the house.” Tish smiles. “It’s your first date after all.”
Right, tonight was supposed to be their first date. Eddie had almost forgot about it with all the hassle that happened earlier. But it’s clear that Steve hasn’t because he picks up their plates and redirects them to a booth in the far corner of the bar. He’s a real gentleman too, offering to let Eddie slide into the booth first, only to squeeze against him as soon as he sits down.
Eddie realizes then and there that he’s never been on a date before.
Not a real one at least, and despite his usual skepticism, it’s actually pretty nice. Now that most of the awkwardness is out of the way, the conversation flows easily, the flirting too, actually. Mostly because Steve continues to be enamored by every vaguely Southern-sounding thing that rolls off Eddie’s tongue while Eddie only pretends to be annoyed by Steve’s cheesy pick-up lines, even though he secretly loves them.
It’s…
It’s easy.
Just like Steve said all those weeks ago, when he broke up with Emily. And then again after he saw Eddie perform right there on that stage. Eddie hadn’t really believed him back then, but now… now, he’s might just start to believe it.
Believe that loving Steve is the easiest thing he’s ever done.
Eddie’s leaning against the wall, with Steve nestled in between his legs when he hears it. A familiar beat, followed by some piano and brass instruments. He immediately pushes Steve out of the booth, scrambles to the feet and pulls Steve towards the dance floor.
“Wha- what is happening?” Steve stammers.
“You look at me that way. I know what your eyes say, your eyes reflect love and desire.” Eddie sings along, a bright smile plastered onto his face. “I see that you need me, I need you to please me. You touch me and set me on fire.”
He pulls Steve closer to him, swaying his hips along to the music. It takes a second for Steve to get the memo but then he’s slinging his arms around Eddie’s shoulders and beaming right back at him.
“I cannot resist you, each time I kiss you, then everything goes up in flames.”
Now Eddie’s not much of a dancer but he can move his hips alright and the sweet sounds of this particular Dolly Parton song will get him moving any day of the week. And the same goes for Steve so it seems, as the smile on his face doesn’t fade once.
In fact, only grows larger and larger when Eddie grabs his hand and spins him around, his head thrown back with joyous laughter when he falls back into Eddie’s arms.
“Baby, I’m burnin’, out of control. Baby I’m burnin’, body and soul. Hot as a pistol that’s flaming desire, baby, I’m burning you got me on fire.”
Steve suddenly changes course, one hand snaking around Eddie’s waist, while the other is holding Eddie’s hand tightly. Before Eddie knows what’s happening, Steve dips him, actually dips him like some professionally trained dancer, to the beat of the song.
“Where’d you learn that?” Eddie pants as Steve is still holding him in place.
“What, you thought you were the only one with a secret past?” Steve asks smugly
Eddie doesn’t even get a chance to answer the question because Steve’s lips are back on him in a split second. Not that Eddie minds of course. He could stay like this for hours, safely wrapped in Steve’s arms, feeling warm all over as their lips move in sync against each other.
“Baby I’m burnin’, you got me on fire…”
Eddie’s outfit is inspired by this amazing fanart by themdelakrem!
