ohhh my gosh that would be adorable!!! I feel like it takes a little while for Lawrence to feel comfortable with having Adam and Diana interact - not bc he doesn't trust Adam or think he'd be a bad influence, but just bc he wanted to be sure things were going to work out between them; he didn't want to put Diana through that, have her get attached to someone who might end up not sticking around (again, not bc he thought he and Adam would split! he just wanted to make sure they were established for a while is all). but the moment he does? ohhhh these two melt his heart on the regular.

I kind of have this belief that Adam is good with kids, but not even he knows why? he has a heart fr kids, he can't help it, but he certainly didn't see himself becoming involved w someone who already had children,, that being said he loves Diana, and she loves him just as much!! it's kind of similar to the Daniel situation but leaning more toward the parental side of things; she just thinks he's about the coolest adult she knows and it's very evident. so they get along really well and god does it make Lawrence happy - honestly, it only serves to make him fall harder. Adam lets Diana paint his nails and will paint hers, he builds pillow forts for them to hide in, he'll read to her before bed, things like that; it's honestly not a surprise that she's interested in his photography!

the very first time she asks him about it, it starts with her being like "this is really cool!! how did you get so good at doing that??" and Adam's just sort of like. You Think That's Cool?? and that's kind of when he starts to become aware of how highly Diana thinks of him,, he needs a whole moment later where he just hides his face in Lawrence's chest and breathes through it bc Holy Shit. this is also where it kinda starts to set in for him that like, this is his family. (the next time he has a moment like that is when she calls him dad for the first time, but that's later down the line!)

hdkjsaf anyway. I feel like he wld be really excited to share this with Diana!! knowing that she's genuinely interested in it helps a lot and the fact that she's such a visual/hands-on learner like himself also helps things along!! I really like the idea that he gets her one of those disposable cameras to kind of give her a chance to explore it herself, so like the three of them will be at the park, Adam and Lawrence sat on one of the benches (when Adam isn't chasing her around the playground), while Diana runs around (within their line of sight, of course) and takes pictures of everything she finds interesting + worth capturing and Lawrence just sort of sighs and says "she's having so much fun. I love you." and Adam's just. "I love you too,,, 🥺🥺" it's so overwhelmingly domestic that Adam just needs a second to sit w it,,

Diana's also a quick learner so it's really cool when they compare her pictures to ones she takes later on!! it's definitely something that serves to strengthen their bond and kind of the catalyst for Adam to realize Hey, Diana Loves Me Too (ESP bc I feel like Adam would be super nervous around her at first, due to being Lawrence's new partner/not Alison, so her approval actually does mean a lot to him,, I gotta be honest I think abt chainshipping + Diana family dynamics all the time)!!

for Lawrence it's just like. Diana's approval ALSO means the world to him. he Loves seeing his partner and his daughter getting along so well; Lawrence didn't ever really envision himself being divorced prior to their game (even if he and Alison had discussed it/at least a separation of sorts), so he's kind of unsure about navigating dating after something like that, especially where Diana is concerned, so to have her love Adam just as much as he does is so so important. he definitely tears up over it sometimes, he can't help it. these are his two favourite people.

for surprises I think they're relatively lowkey just bc neither of them really like Big surprises,, most times it consists of smth like "I saw this and thought of you!" or "I thought you'd like this so I picked it up!" and that's more than enough for them. occasionally though they Do like the spoil each other in their own special ways, so sometimes Lawrence will come home from work and the entire apartment is clean, there's music playing from that little stereo they have, and there's Adam in the kitchen with flour and brownie batter on his cheek and his shirt and in his hair bc maybe he's not the best cook, but he can bake (at least. brownies.) and Lawrence will just stand in the threshold of the kitchen fr a little bit after dropping off his coat and briefcase and lining up his shoes in the hallway, just watching Adam with this lovesick grin on his face until Adam finally turns around and sees him (he's not shocked, Lawrence always announces himself) and smiles back and it's so. <333

other times Adam will come home from a shoot to see Lawrence on the couch with Adam's favourite takeout, already in his pajamas and with their comfiest blanket next to him on the couch, and he's got a movie ready (usually The Princess Bride, as I've mentioned b4,,) and is just like "hey, I know you haven't eaten yet so I ordered in. wanna sit w me?" and of course Adam is always like of course I do!!! it's definitely one of those things where he's just smiling the whole time because this is a level of bliss he never saw himself reaching b4 Lawrence. he never imagined having someone to come home to, someone who loves him like this, and it's as simple as Lawrence making sure he eats + just wanting to take the time to relax w him while watching smth they both enjoy to make Adam realize this is love.

as for little things they do fr each other when they're having rough days? for Adam, I like the idea that Lawrence tosses one of his sweaters into the dryer for a little while so that it's warm when he takes it out, and then he brings it to wherever Adam has holed up while he rides out a shitty day and is just like "here, I know you're not having a good day so I brought you this. it's warm :)" and Adam is always just. "thank you" bc verbalizing things is hard on his bad days if he's not completely nonverbal (he does know the sign fr thank you + teaches it to Larry so he knows), but on the inside he's definitely just like 🥺🥺 ohhh my god I love you so much?? the other is that he'll make one of Adam's favourites for dinner because he firmly believes in the concept of comfort food serving to make things a little bit better. then they'll just sort of curl up on the couch or in bed and Adam will hide for a little while (like u've mentioned b4) until he feels good enough to at least lay his head on Lawrence's shoulder and watch him read/fill out crosswords (my fave hc concerning Lawrence is that. he likes them. he gets books of 'em Adam is so endeared by it).

for Lawrence, since he's the kind of person that throws himself into performing tasks (stress cleaning, paperwork, tending to things around the apartment, etc.) to keep his mind off of how upset he's feeling, I think the biggest thing Adam does is after a little while of Lawrence doing his thing, he'll come up behind him wherever he is and just kind of lead him away like "why don't you rest for a minute." and at first he wasn't rlly receptive to it, preferring to just sort of shake Adam off and be like "I'm okay, thank you for asking," even if he was very obviously Not Okay. eventually, though, all Adam has to do is put his hands on his shoulders and knead for a little bit before Lawrence just sighs and melts into it. he tenses up a lot, so his muscles are often really sore as a result, so when Adam does that it's a reminder to kind of sit back before that happens. the other, like you've also mentioned b4, is that Adam just holds Lawrence when he needs it, which is something he hadn't ever really experienced b4 but comes to appreciate very much. this is usually when Lawrence feels safest/the most seen + heard, so it's often where he cries it out, too.

otherwise it's just those little things; Lawrence will make Adam his cup of coffee in the morning, Adam will do Lawrence's tie for him b4 he heads off to work (his one weird ability, he supposes), holding the door open for each other when they're out and about, getting each other smth to drink + little snacks, stuff like that!! (one of my other favourites: sometimes when they go out for dates, Lawrence will pull Adam's chair out for him. Adam used to think smth like that wld be very stupid. when it's Lawrence, he comes to realize what was so endearing about it - not that he'd say that out loud tho)

I've actually thought abt this b4!! I feel like Adam wld be very very nervous abt it at first, just bc he knows it's something that a lot of ppl still consider to be unconventional + impossible, but he would definitely want to have that talk w Lawrence bc 1. that's his partner, and 2. of course he wants Lawrence to be aware of that/wants to hear what his feelings are. like u said though, he doesn't reject it entirely or anything like that - he just sort of needs time to understand it + see how it works, as it's absolutely smth he would have no prior familiarity with (esp being w Alison in a monogamous marriage).

the important thing here is Lawrence is comfortable asking questions. he might word things a little funny and might make Adam laugh a couple times, not unkindly, but he's genuinely so curious abt it and unafraid to ask (which is better than coming up with some false assumption)!! it's both delicate and not, which I think Adam wld prefer rather than it being too serious or bc of disapproval obviously. he always feels more comfortable in convos where they can still contain serious subject matter, but they can still laugh a little bit.

so it does take Lawrence a while to warm up to it, but not out of a place of ignorance/ridicule; he just needs to familiarize himself w it is all! and that makes Adam feel sooo much better abt it. of course there was never the intention not to tell Lawrence, but to have him accept it and maybe even consider it down the line does wonders to relax Adam.

I've actually thought abt who the first other member Lawrence kinda fell for wld be and I think it wld be Eric! it can definitely be partially attributed to the fact that bc Adam spends a lot of time around him (they ARE dating), Lawrence does too as a result, but there's more to their relationship than just being. boyfriend adjacent. they have things in common that they don't really w anyone else (i.e. being a parent that has been through a trap + had their kid directly endangered by Jigsaw and are helping them cope) and they kind of have very similar feelings (guilt/thinking things were their fault, feeling like they failed their kids, feeling like they're bad ppl like Jigsaw thought, things like that) so they bond through those things - and, of course, over both of them dating Adam.

u've mentioned this b4 + I agree w it so: I feel like Eric might kinda be the first person other than Adam to realize Lawrence's tendency to overwork himself to avoid having to confront his upset feelings. a big thing Eric does for him is he'll bring a little snack w him and maybe something to drink and he'll hand them off and be like "I know you're busy but you gotta remember to eat, I'm just gonna go chill over here," and then he'll just set himself up in a corner in the same room so that Lawrence isn't alone. he doesn't try to get him to stop, doesn't ask him what's wrong though it's clear he'd listen if Lawrence wanted to share, just makes sure he's taking care of himself + reminding him that ppl are there for him. and fr Lawrence that's kinda like. Oh. bc it's that silent type of understanding where they don't even have to announce it out loud. Lawrence doesn't feel the need to explain himself. having that not only w Adam, but Eric too, is definitely smth that sort of leads into that realization of "I think I love him too."

and there are moments where Lawrence will come to spend the night at Adam + Art?(it's up to you)/Eric's apartment when Eric falls asleep facing Lawrence while Adam is pressed up against his back and knowing the issues Eric has w his chronic insomnia + feeling safe enough to drift off to sleep easily, seeing the way being around Adam helps him relax and that being held leads him to sleep quicker than anything else, it just kinda makes Lawrence wanna hold him and not let go. he knows Eric wasn't shown that kind of tenderness often, that physical contact was something he was denied for so long, and it just. makes Lawrence Seethe that someone would ever do that to him, in this protective way that Lawrence can't deny feels a lot like love. it only ever increases when Eric wakes up screaming later and ends up with his face against Lawrence's neck once the tension fades away and he just sags against him, crying. Lawrence allows himself to hold Eric then, and he still feels like he never wants to let go. this man is so compassionate, so protective himself of the ones he loves and wld do anything to keep them safe. he is a big dog of a man that makes ppl feel held + understood and Lawrence loves him a little bit, he can't help it.

I think Lawrence finally fully realizes it when Eric stumbles across him having a panic attack bc he'd forgotten to turn the ringer off and it just so happened to go off at that moment. he's trembling and it's hard for him to breathe but Eric just kind of crouches down in front of him and is like "focus on me for a moment. can you do that?" and he rests his hands on Lawrence's upper arms. when Lawrence nods Eric takes one of his hands and places it on his chest n says "can you breathe with me?" and somehow, Lawrence steadily finds himself relaxing and able to draw more air in until he's not shaking as hard and he doesn't feel like he's sucking in air through a straw, and by then he's so exhausted by it all that he ends up with his forehead against Eric's sternum, and Eric just holds him, no words. and he says, "it's okay that it still upsets you, it's smth you can't help and that is fine. I just want you to know that." like he knew what Lawrence needed to hear, and it's just. oof. that's when Lawrence is just like Oh I See. I Love Him. I Love Him Too.

Adam is beyond delighted abt it when Lawrence actually tells him, and Lawrence can safely say that he's definitely more open to the idea after that!!

one day you will regret the things that you ask from me. i’m not sure today is that day, but i’ll try to make it so. since there’s no pairing stated, i’m gonna sprinkle in some of my fave ship with my fave boi and make it an ot3 for extra pain.

i’m gonna cram in a little hipster cafe au too, because why not.

#37: “Don’t! Don’t come near me!”

The first petal that falls from Seungkwan’s lips is yellow.

It’s yellow and its scent is mild. It looks almost pristine, innocently sitting in his palm after a cough that rattled Seungkwan’s insides. He stares at it – half in dread and half in confusion – before snapping out of it when Jeonghan calls for him. They’re in the middle of rehearsals, Jihoon handing them a new song to learn. There’s a duet for Jeonghan and Jisoo, a duet for Seungkwan and Seokmin and a solo for Jihoon. There is no time to ponder the petal, so he crushes it in his hand and prays it’s a mistake.

But of course it’s not a mistake.

It’s a chrysanthemum – yellow, for slighted love.

Seungkwan has chrysanthemums growing in his lungs, all for Jihoon.

It’s Jihoon – it has to be. Seungkwan has been nursing a crush on Jihoon, since the first day the elder set eyes on him on the streets of Hongdae and said, “You have a voice I’d love to write songs for.”

(Honestly, who even says that to people? Sure, Jihoon has this unnerving ability to be stupidly blunt all the time and have absolutely no shame about the things he says.)

It starts with a crush – a little spark of a crush that started because Jihoon is a songwriter and accidentally says pretty words to unsuspecting men. It’s a spark that bursts into a flame because Jihoon writes pretty songs that match Seungkwan’s pretty voice and Jihoon says cutting words but soothes them with cake and hot chocolate after.

The flame blazes and burns, scorching Seungkwan from the inside out. With every touch and gentle word, with time in the studio where it’s just the two of them and rehearsals where Jihoon’s focus is solely on Seungkwan, he aches and he longs and he loves.

Seungkwan always knew that falling for Jihoon would end in pain. He just didn’t expect it to end in petals filling his lungs.

In a way, it’s poetic; it’s a death that fits the artistry that encompasses every bit of Jihoon’s life. Of course he’d kill Seungkwan with pretty flowers too.

It’s when the white petals join the chrysanthemums that Seungkwan knows he’s well and truly fucked.

It takes him a moment to understand why the white poppy petals (consolation) join the chrysanthemum he’s still coughing out. He’s watching Seungcheol and Jihoon flirt in their unique way – Seungcheol calls Jihoon short and Jihoon calls Seungcheol an idiot, then they exchange secret grins that belie just how much they care about each other.

Seungkwan watches Seungcheol and his heart aches just as another cough wracks his entire body. He coughs out a handful of petals – and the first couple white petals mixed amongst the yellow sends shivers down Seungkwan’s spine.

He spends too long staring at the handful of petals – still a handful, because it’s been three days since the first petal – and jumps when Seungcheol wanders over, concern in his eyes.

“Hey, are you okay?” Seungcheol asks.

Seungkwan immediately shoves the petals into his pocket, plastering a smile onto his face. “I’m fine, just a tickle!” He coughs again, a light fake thing to throw him off the scent.

Seungkwan nearly jumps again when Seungcheol leans in close and presses a warm hand to Seungkwan’s forehead. “Hm,” the elder hums, “you don’t feel warm.”

“I’m fine,” Seungkwan croaks, the lie as bitter as the petals are sweet when they rest on his tongue, right before he spews them out.

Falling in love with Seungcheol is like sitting in a pot of cold water being heated over fire. At first, their relationship is strictly employer/employee. Then, Seungkwan stumbles his way into the cafe after a shitty blind date Seokmin forced him on and Seungcheol is there. He’s there, with his warm smile and even warmer hugs. He offers Seungkwan coffee and a listening ear and suddenly, they’re friends.

They’re friends and Seungcheol hangs out with Seungkwan. They text and they have inside jokes. The next thing Seungkwan knows, Seungcheol is always there, with a quick smile and even quicker skinship.

Seungkwan doesn’t notice the water is boiling until he’s in too deep and he’s daydreaming of caramel kisses and quiet I love yous in the back room.

The thing about Jihoon and Seungcheol is that they’re the love story. They’ve known each other since high school and stuck together through college. They even set up a cafe together – Sweet Notes – and anyone with eyes can tell they’re in love with each other (even if they’re both oblivious fools).

There’s no space for Seungkwan between them.

He doesn’t even pretend there is. Seungkwan can’t bring himself to be that delusional. It’ll hurt him more in the end.

Of course, he can get corrective surgery. All it’ll take is one little procedure and the flowers will be gone. He can breathe and he can stop the pain – but it’ll mean he’ll never feel romantic love again. He’ll never feel the flutter of his heartbeat when Jihoon and Seungcheol walk in, the warmth that spread through his body when Jihoon smiles at him and tells him a job well done, the silent joy when Seungcheol wraps an arm around his shoulders.

Seungkwan has a brochure lying on his bed. A little brain surgery and he’ll never have to worry about unrequited love again.

It takes him a week before he throws it into the trash can.

It progresses fast. Too fast.

The body isn’t meant to withstand so much heartache. Unrequited love from one person is already bad enough. Most people can last maybe three months with hanahaki disease.

Seungkwan’s doctor says it’s a miracle if he’ll see the end of the month.

The chrysanthemums and the poppies grow in his lungs, feeding off his misery. It scares him, but he supposes it’s not really all that different from knowing the two men you love will never love you back, all because they’re too wrapped up in each other. Seungkwan can’t even resent them for it, because he’s stupid and in love. At least when he’s gone, they won’t mourn him. They’ll have each other, after all.

Seungkwan leans against the toilet bowl. He reaches up with a shaky hand, flushing the yellow and white petals down. His head hurts, a headache building behind his eyelids. He hasn’t been able to sleep, the coughing keeping him up. He’s stopped cleaning up the petals, the yellow and white scattered amongst his bedsheets. The crushed flower petals lend a sickly, floral scent to his home. He leaves them as a reminder – of his sentimentality, of his stupidity.

He can’t go to rehearsal today. He just can’t.

It takes him twenty minutes to drag himself out of the bathroom. Seungkwan collapses into bed and types a bleary message to… well, he’s not sure who. Probably Seokmin, who’s been nagging him about taking care of himself. Seokmin doesn’t know – no one knows, and he’d like to keep it that way. He hasn’t even told Hansol, who’s his best friend in the whole world.

Maybe he should. The doctor said he might not see the end of the month. He’s already two weeks in. Seungkwan toys with the idea of sending in his resignation and spending the next two weeks getting his affairs in order. He doesn’t have a will written up, but… well. It’s about time he thought about it.

He lets his eyes flutter shut.

The pounding at the door doesn’t wake him. The sudden bout of coughing does. He coughs and coughs, the cloud of petals that emerges enough to almost choke him. He’s drowning in petals and the door opens.

Seungkwan looks up, trying to make out the figure through the film of tears. He tries to cover his mouth, but the petals slip through his fingers, fluttering innocently in front of him. Crimson stains the yellow and white.

“Hyung,” Seungkwan croaks, curling in on himself as Seungcheol watches in horror.

“What the hell is going on here?” Seungcheol demands. He takes a step into Seungkwan’s room – his room with the flowers and the blood and evidence of his own failure.

“Don’t! Don’t come near me!”

“Seungkwan – ”

“Please,” he croaks. Copper and chrysanthemum rests on his tongue. He lets out a rattling breath, curling into a ball. “Please. Don’t come near me. I can’t – ”

“Can – is there anything I can do?” Seungcheol asks, a hint of desperation in his voice. He’s still in the doorway, keeping a respectful distance.

All Seungkwan wants is to burrow himself into Seungcheol’s arms and cry and cry. He wants to let himself be comforted, but Seungcheol’s isn’t his to have and he can’t stop thinking about (wanting) Jihoon too.

“No,” Seungkwan answers, burying his face in his hands so Seungcheol can’t see him cry. “Just – go away.”

“Kwannie – ”

“Go away! I don’t want to see you or – or Jihoon hyung. Get out!”

Those are lies. They tear at his throat and he’s not sure if the pain is from the flowers slowly killing him or the words he’s spitting out. He wants to see them. He wants to tell them the truth – I’m so in love with both of you that it’s literally killing me – just so they can pretend to love him for a little while.

Seungcheol stands in the doorway for a good long while, watching Seungkwan curl into a ball on his petal-covered bed. Then, he walks away. The door shuts behind him quietly and Seungkwan cries and cries.

secondly so we went to talk about this and our headcanons went in a very different direction 




that direction being sara making out/hooking up with alex danvers in the national city high school locker room after a soccer tournament 

BUT WE’LL COME BACK TO THAT

like, every hot woman ever from legends is in the schs soccer team

sara is the best captain they’ve ever had

they’ve never made it to state champs thus far in the time sara’s been at schs - freshman year they lost a qualifying match, sophomore year they won regionals but didn’t make it past the playoffs, junior year they lost at regionals. but state champs is sara’s dream for what she wants to achieve with high school soccer before going to brown (will they make it? tune into the rest of the fic to find out 😉)

zari joined the team when she moved to star city and she and sara immediately clicked and got super close through soccer, because they were kind of equally stubborn personalities when they hung out at lunch and stuff and soccer was the one place where they kind of worked just seamlessly and realised that they could get on really well 

rip lowkey saved a spot on the team for sara from the minute he saw her play when she was in 8th grade 

right okay so this tournament in national city 

it’s an away game, and the schs team get there early enough that when they amble onto the pitch no one (read:alex) expects them yet

so when they meet the other team alex is standing there with her back to them leading her team through a warm up with her very gay haircut, and she doesn’t see them coming at first so it’s not until Sara taps her on the shoulder and cockily says “getting ready to get beaten danvers?” that she spins around to face them

and sara has all sorts of comebacks on the tip of her tongue for whatever alex has to say, but the moment she turns around and raises an unimpressed eyebrow sara completely loses her train of thought because the last time she saw alex, they were still in middle school for a soccer camp that summer (and sara was with nyssa then and alex thought she was straight) and holy fuck alex is hotter than she remembered and sara wasn’t prepared for it

and alex responds with a sarcastic quip that’s so much better than her line, and she usually has the perfect response but she doesn’t anymore because alex has managed to catch her completely off guard

and it gets under her skin

and the whole game, every time sara does anything, every move she makes, every time she gets the ball, she turns and alex is there waiting to attack 

and sara doesn’t know if she’s impressed or furious or frustrated or turned on and it’s probably a mixture of both and alex just keeps smirking as though she knows exactly what she’s fucking doing 

so sara just smirks and returns her taunts and plays twice as hard and doesn’t realise she’s doing exactly the same thing to alex that alex is doing to her

schs win on a penalty and honestly it’s all a bit of a blur, because one moment sara is celebrating with her team and shaking hands and letting rip congratulate her and the next alex is dragging her into the locker room by her shirt whilst everyone is distracted and she’s pushing her up against the wall

zari walks in at some point and immediately throws something at them and yells at sara to lock the door next time but tbh both alex and sara just laugh and get back to it

and after, as alex tugs her soccer jersey back on, her phone buzzes from her gear bag and she asks if sara can check who it is and sara picks up the phone and whistles when she sees kara’s contact photo and goes “uh, who the hell is this?” and alex makes a tsch sound and goes “hands off, that’s my sister kara” and sara scoffs and goes “no it’s not. i remember kara, she doesn’t look like that !” and alex rolls her eyes and goes “she does now. and wipe that look off your face lance, kara doesn’t even realise she’s bi yet.”

and sara sighs overexaggeratedly but alex can see she’s kidding as she answers kara’s call and lies saying she was helping someone from the schs team find their way around and sara waggles her eyebrows as she says it, sneaking into alex’s space even as alex swats her away and sealing her lips to alex’s neck distractingly

and eventually alex hangs up on kara and pokes sara in the stomach, voice a little breathier than before and she goes “you play dirty lance” and sara hums against alex’s collarbone, murmuring “i mean, can you blame me, look at yourself”

but she feels alex’s skin flush’s nd hears the disbelieving noise slip from her mouth and she pulls away, her hands dropping from alex’s ribs to her hips and she says a little more genuinely, “you’re stunning alex, you know that right?”

and the look on alex’s face makes it very clear she doesn’t and sara raises an eyebrow and goes “how is someone not losing their mind over you and telling you every single day?”

and alex shrugs, pushes her hair away from her face and leans back against the wall as she quietly goes “i dunno. i haven’t dated really. not really the kind of person to sleep around.” and sara raises an unsure eyebrow and gestures between them and alex goes “yeah but this is different. we’ve been playing tournaments against each other for years - i think i even remember playing against you at a soccer camp in middle school. i know you, i - i trust you. plus, there’s none of the weirdness of seeing you at school every day and knowing what you look like naked.” and sara laughs and kisses alex’s jawline again before pulling back, moving to finish packing up her stuff

while they’re packing up, sara pauses and asks “you really haven’t dated?” and alex can hear the edge to her voice, and she sighs and goes “you know that i have once.”

sara pauses zipping up her bag and turning, her face apologetic as she says “we don’t have to talk about it. i just - i remember seeing pictures of you guys on instagram.”

and there’s a moment of quiet before alex goes “yeah. maggie. she moved across the country. got an athletics scholarship to this elite sports school. she’s actually pretty near you now, i think.” and alex shrugs and adds, sadly, “she didn’t wanna make me wait and she said i deserved better than long distance. deserved someone who could love me every day rather than over tired skype calls and texting abt menial things just to feel connected. she promised that if it was meant to be, maybe we’d cross paths again so i guess part of me is scared to move on a lose that chance.”

and sara crosses her arms across her chest and softly says “there’s no expectation for you to move on, but she’s right alex. you’re smart and talented and really fucking hot and i’m certain that if you opened yourself up to it, someone would be there waiting. i know what it feels like to lose someone to distance, and how much you wanna hold on to the idea that maybe they’ll come back or you’ll go there and be ok again, but i promise it’s not worth wasting all the other things happening every day just bc you’re waiting for the time when you’ll be with them again.”

and alex can tell by the heaviness in her voice that she does know, but she doesn’t have the energy to talk more abt maggie right now

eventually they both head out of the locker room and the schs soccer team are staying at a motel so alex drives sara back on her way home and before getting out of the car, sara leans over the gear shift and pulls alex into the slowest, softest kiss that she feels alex melt into, feels alex’s fingers slide into her hair and her breath hitch and her other hand reach out for sara’s shirt, and when sara breaks away, she gives alex a genuine smile before kissing the side of her mouth and saying “call me if you’re near star city okay? even if it’s not for this - we can get coffee and talk about the beautiful girlfriends who abandoned us.” and alex snorts with laughter, something easing in her chest and she tugs sara forward to kiss her again for a second before murmuring “thanks for tonight. and i promise we’re gonna kick your ass next time we play.” and sara’s eyes sparkle with mirth as she goes “we’ll see” and gets out of the car to head towards her and zari’s room where she’s 100% prepared to be completely interrogated

well it turns out we have a lot more feelings abt that than anticipated

anyway the only other headcanon we really have about the soccer team is that sara hooks up with a few of the girls on it (lindsey, gwen etc) when they’re having a ‘questioning their sexualities’ crisis bc saras their friend and saras calm and reassuring and is always supportive and sweet and when each of them tentatively talk to her about it, she jokingly says she’s always here if they wanna test something out

zari always jokes abt how sara sleeping her way through the team is “strengthening their team bonds”

and sara rolls her eyes and snarks “is that a request Z? you feeling left out?” and zari gags and goes “absolutely not”

starts secretly doing lame shit like actually enjoying her classes and going to after school review sessions and even joining the chess club (she hated it and quit after three meetings, but she wanted to try it okay) and despite cheer being out of season and her not missing much, her mom finds out and is livid

she's a 16 y/o sophomore in hs when her mom slaps her and tells her to get out of her sight. she’s a disappointment and couldn’t even make her mom happy, said in her own mother’s words. so she takes it more than literally and calls every relative she can think of. eventually, her grandparents feel bad enough for her to take her in. buy her a ticket to jersey city and when i tell you she never looks back, she never looks back

her grandparents are old as hell. like, 'she's sure they'll turn into dust' old. but she loves them, they do the most they can for her, and in return, she helps take care of them and their lil cute bed and breakfast that isn't doing too well .. 

she works the jobs that they can't afford to hire people for and learns way more than she ever did with her mom. who, btw, hasn't tried to contact her at all. not that she would answer, but deep down she kinda wishes her mom will be as good as the ones her friends always had ? not that it bothers her (it does) 

high school in jersey involves getting her grades up from all the years under her mom's reign and doing extracurriculars she actually enjoys, like the lil home ec class they offer where she gets to cook and even joins the chess club there bc she thinks it's so boring but she's pretty good at it ?? high school is fun and she had no idea it could be like this ??

high school ends on a better note than she ever could have dreamed of back home with her mom and she even graduates in the top ten percent of her class, miraculously. 

even gets some award for being the president of chess club. her grandparents hung her diploma and even her chess club award on the wall in the bed and breakfast and told everyone about how great she did and how proud of her they are. 

gillian bawled that day, needless to say. 

she doesn’t go to college because it’s too expensive and it’s fine for her, considering she wanted to stay and help as much as she could at home anyway. 

in fact, life is pretty decent up until her grandparents die when she’s 24. she always knew it would happen, but it still hurts knowing that the only decent family she had left is gone. 

the lawyer tells her that she’s the only one in the will, meaning she gets the savings they never mentioned to her and the bed and breakfast. 

she wasn’t suddenly rich, but she had enough to truly renovate the b&b, restoring it to its old popularity among people passing through town. 

one constant is the diploma and chess club award her grandparents put up. she doesn’t think she’ll ever be able to take those down no matter how embarrassing they are 

a year later, right around when renovations were being finished up, she had aspen, her and wes’ daughter. she loved her as soon as she saw her and to this day, doesn’t plan on telling her mother about her. she doesn’t deserve to know aspen

sure, she became a mom younger than she had planned and it took some adjusting to, but it was alright, unexpected shit happens. as long as she’s a better mom than hers was and aspen is happy, she’s good.

despite all the bad shit, she’s still a good person. likes to chat with the b&b guests, has dreams of traveling when she gets old, even wants to try macaroons bc who doesn’t. that stuff looks good as hell. 

letting what her mom put her through get to her is not an option for her. especially when she has her little one to take care of. so she kind of bottles it up and cries when she has time, if she needs to, that is 

she wants to do her very best to make her grandparents proud, trying to improve the b&b as much as she can in their memory. it’s her passion. 

truly a blast to be around and likes to make people laugh with how weird she can be. it’s kind of a mix of genuinely funny and she’s just so dumb that you have to laugh, y’know ?? kinda like a mom sort of funny, ofc 

super restless . always has to be doing something the b&b even if they have someone to do that job for her (her taking over people’s jobs when she’s bored happens a lot) . 

too idealistic sometimes . doesn’t realize that even she needs a break from work and maybe even little 6 y/o aspen to take a day to herself and doesn’t really consider it an option 

likes going on dates w/ people, giving every and anyone a chance bc she wants to find that person, y’know ?? also dates are fun 

not that she’s like hunting for a soulmate aldjfs bc she’s totally chill abt it, no sarcasm intended, and she does like her occasional hookups here and there

b&b employee: someone who works at the b&b for her and she probably adores them ?? wants to make them breakfast every morning and makes them coffee and shit bc she can never really stop being a mom, even to someone who isn’t her kid. really appreciates everything they do

friends w/ benefits: emphasis on the friend part, bc she’d like having someone around who can actually be her friend but also someone she can call at two in the morning when she’s bored, ya feel

okay so theyr both in college at NYU simons a music major obvi and jace is on the education track bc he wants to be a teacher (fuck you i can do what i want)

one of the classes that everyone has to take for gen ed is just a regular history class from like after the civ war onwards (ive never been to college dont sue me)

but the thing about that class is that the teachers like 10 million years old hes really fat and kinda racist but they have to take the class so they just ignore him most of the time

on the first day of the class jace and simon sit next to eachother they dont really ever talk except for once when jace asked for a pencil and simon nearly died

did i mention that simon maybe sorta has a massive fucking crush on the blondie that sits next to him in history? no? because he does and its really starting to piss him off that he hasnt made a fucking move yet because hes just a tad bit awkward when it comes to stuff like that but w/e simon sits next to him and just tries to breathe normally for an hour which…..harder than it sounds

anyways one day in november the teachers droning on abt some fucking law that was passed in the 1850′s and simon honestly wants to die rather than sit through another fucin second of this but he cant just like get up so he starts doodling in the corner of his notebook and drawing the teacher in front of a bunch of ppl and all of them either sleeping or dead because same

suddenly he hears like a little laugh from his left and when he looks at whatever it was he’s like 80% sure that his heart stopped beating for about thirty seconds but that’s besides the point because jace is looking at him?? and he’s SMILLING? (simon wasnt sure that he was capable of smiling since hes just got that fucking smirk on his face all the time anyways)

simon’s pretty sure that he looks like an idiot staring at jace with his bug eyes and mouth slightly hangng open so he like whips back to his notebook and furiously ignores the burning in his cheeks

hes still trying to get his heart started again when someone slips a piece of paper right in front of him.

after that class they dont really start talking but it becomes like,,, a thing they do? simon will draw something and slip it to jace and then jace will slip it back with another thing added and they’ll just do that for the whole class

simon….simon starts to actually look forward to that class because he likes whatever he has with jace he just really wishes that it could be more but he’ll take what he can get

but the semesters ending and the class is only a semester long so he wont see jace after this and that makes him sad so he tries to not think about it

(hes really bad at that.)

so the class before they take their final something weird happens

when simon passes his paper to jace (a little person ripping his hair out because finals)

jace doesnt pass it back

and you know simon was expecting this to happen at some point or another so he tries to not let it affect him

but it does

so simon spends the rest of that class trying not to be disappointed and justr focus on the lecture but he cant and it just really fucking stings

but at the very end of the class, like 5 minutes before they’re released

jace passes him the paper back

the only thing thats on the paper is simons drawing

and jace added another guy thats doing sorta the same thing but theres an arrow to flip it over so simon does

“it seems like you’re hella stressed for finals. wanna get coffee?” and then a number

simon looks over at jace to see him smiling back hopefully

(because jace also had a crush on simon ever since that first day he drew that stupid fucking thing and its taken him way too long to ask him out and honestly hes quite embarrased but)

simon nods with a smile and then mouths “took you long enough”

jace smile gets wider and they both leave the class feeling a lot better than they did going in

they date all the way through college

for a wedding present, simon gives jace a book of all of their drawings and ends it with the one that he used to ask him out

jace never lets it leave his bedside table

Who are your closest friends on here and what are their qualities?

Oh. Oh, okay, this is a nice question that I wasn’t expecting! See, the word friends may be a lil strong to use here, since I don’t really interact with much people and I need a deeper connection to actually consider someone a friend. But I’ll list here all the awesome people I talk to and would like to get to know better ❤

Okay first of all of course @yourplisetsky bc dammit, Eve’s the only one I actually speak to outside tumblr. We have each other on Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook, and I made myself a Snapchat account just bc of her (tho I had to delete the app bc I needed the space :c). We basically talk on a daily basis, and even if our convos have been kinda scarce and pretty slow lately bc we’ve been busy, she’s still always present with me, during my day, bc I’m constantly reminded of her by small things in my daily life. She’s my writing support and I miss her when I can’t talk to her, and I can tell her abt my problems and send her pics of my day and we talk abt lots of stuff, and I love her very much and want to meet her irl someday. She ma dood, ma Huffie Sis, ma Whine Support. The leche to my arroz.

Then we have @stillherewhileimgone, who was apparently following me for a while before messaging me, and she’s so great?? We don’t talk that much, yeah, but she’s really nice to talk to and SHE’S STUDYING SPANISH WTF nobody does that so sometimes she says sth in Spanish and I get all happy bc she tries so hard and I know Spanish isn’t the easiest? So whenever she does it right I’m so proud. Also we like lizards together and that’s cool too.

My fellow argentinian, @madamredwrites​, who has like the cutest name ever and is also super nice to talk to AND A GREAT WRITER GO CHECK HER OUT PLS. Now, I’m kinda shy when I first start talking to someone, so that usually means a couple of awkward convos before I relax around the New Person, but I think by the second or third time I talked to this wonderful being we had a really long, pleasant chat, and I don’t even remember what it was about, I just know I really enjoyed it and I felt really at ease omg. She really easy to talk to. Plus, she also supports my writing and I Appreciate that, and has great ideas and okay, she’s overall great. Bonus: we can talk to each other in Spanglish.

Then there’s @aftgonice​ who is like a lil ball of sunshine wrapped in the softest cotton. We’ve talked like twice but I’d like to get to know her better bc she’s Nice, plus she’s a Huffie like me and she’s Italian so there’s a chance we’re long lost cousins lol. Plus, we can make the Italian Gesture™ together cause we’re allowed.

Aaannd @rayraywrites​ who’s also That Person Who I’ve Talked To Maybe Twice But Is Already Great. People always say there are lots of us med students around here but I think they liars bc I had never met another med student?? Until RAY APPEARED. So now I can go full nerd on someone and chances are they’ll understand what I’m saying and that’s so awesome bc I’m such a closeted nerd?? So anyway we’re both nerds and writers and we bond over that and I hope we get to talk more.

Especial mention to @life-is-str4nge, my dear Nana, who I know irl. She’s the Eli to my Nozomi, we ship gays together and she likes my cats and helps me bleach and dye my hair and she’s beautiful and also huggable and I wish we could see each other more and have sleepovers and coffee dates with our other friends but we can’t meet bc we busy.

There’s other people I’d like to talk more to, and to get to know better, but for some reason or another we haven’t talked that much or our convos don’t really work, idk maybe they’re shy or awkward like me so that’s why lol (or maybe they’re not interested in knowing me which is cool too).

Anyway, that’s about it, Anon ❤ thank you so much for this super cute ask bc it’s lovely and also a great oportunity to show my appreciation for these people, which I like doing but I’m too shy and awkward to do without a proper excuse. Except for Eve bc I say I love her almost daily, but she ma special dood so it doesn’t count.
