The cinematography and scenery of Broadchurch is fucking amazing However, I would really like to know what were they thinking when shooting this scene?
Tumblr media
Yeah let’s casually have a chat on a bench whilst overlooking a graveyard
edit: on further reflection it makes sense. They are investigating a murder after all (but it's still kinda funny, beautiful shots of the sea, beach and sky and then bam a graveyard)

atsumu who goes above and beyond to impress you, his crush and classmate of four years, in all definitions of “impress.”
honestly how the fuck isn't it obvious to you by now, he might as well be walking around with “i like y/n” tattooed on his forehead.
you mention you like guys that can cook once and holy fuck atsumu who still doesn't know how to use the microwave without quite literally burning the food, who's never chopped onions before without ending up with enough cuts to bandage his whole hand— that atsumu practices for weeks and stays up till 2 am to prepare for the lunch he'll make for himself, because osamu said said no and then because you bring homemade lunch to stay and eat in class with your friends— he'll casually just plop down on the seat next to you, his friends will then very obviously willingly talk loudly about his lunch and he'll just throw in a, “yeah, made it maself, 'm a solid chef, who do ya think taught 'samu?”
okay if that didn't get your attention, no worries, what are his friends there for?
if atsumu gets lucky in a day and catches you chatting away with your friends in the hallway, then he instructs his friends to walk past you, hover in the corner, just within your earshot— “'kay, so when we pass her by, ya gotta speak ma name real loud, loud enough so she can hear it, but don't annoy her”
and so for the time you stand there, trying to hold a conversation with your friends, all your mind can really focus on is the, “atsumu was so fucking good in practice today, if we're gonna win, then it'll be all him”
and then you hear the subject of the conversation speak, “nah, we're a team, every time we win, it's all thanks ta you guys,” because you also mentioned you like modest, humble guys.
god forbid the days you're absent in class.
atsumu who's sulking all day, doesn't know what the fuck is going on in classes, he's half in and half not in every conversation, even his passes are sloppy and weak. to the point osamu and suna are concerned, well, in their own ways, “are ya constipated or something, yer missin’ your spikes and yer passes as clumsy,” osamu says off-handedly.
“i heard y/n didn't come today, i think her friends said she's sick.” suna chips in, and atsumu shrinks in his spot like a grumpy cat.
“i already know that, wouldn't have come today if i knew she wasn't comin’.”
“you'd miss practice then.”
“don't care, don't talk to me, don't wanna do anything, what's the point.”
“down fucking bad,” suna muses, and atsumu glares at him.
atsumu's day is ruined and his disappointment is immeasurable. why did you get sick? how could you get sick? now he's worried and half of himself and his passes are shit and god, he wants to see you. he feels like he could die.
then when you finally show up the next day after what felt like eternity to atsumu, you find on your desk a pile of snacks with a little note— banana milk, everyone knows it's your favourite, the bar of chocolate they only sell down the convenience store near the school, the glazed donuts that you're always eating in class, and a lot of bubblegums that only one person in class knows you like— atsumu's handwriting is rushed and barely comprehensive but you know it by heart because he doesn't know you saw him slip the note you found in your locker this morning, and countless other mornings—
“i hope you smile because of this”
atsumu as a secret admirer is... not so secret because he's still unaware that you see him every morning, and let him giggle to himself as he slips the notes and the strips of bubblegums in your locker— you don't even like that flavor.
but he gave them, so you think they might just be your favourite.
then again, maybe atsumu doesn't want to be a secret admirer.
atsumu has a crush on you and you know that— he's very obvious. but he's also very dense and doesn't realise that everyone besides him can see you like him too. he doesn't know the only reason you bring homemade lunch is because he had started to eat lunch in class with his friends. you stand in the hallways with your friends pretending to talk so that when atsumu's walking past you, his friends will practically yell his name and you'll see him blushing shyly. he still doesn't know you come to his every match, cheering for him and scream with joy at every one of his scores.
atsumu makes it obvious he has a crush on you but is stupidly dense that you reciprocate all the same :'))))

Chapter 2 >>> Chapter 3
Tumblr media
Your head is lolling off to the side, eyes growing heavy with the soft swaying of the ship in the waves. The only thing that's keeping you awake is the smell of fish lingering in the netting. Sniffing, you feel yourself succumbing to sleep.
You jolt awake when the fishing net jostles then slowly raises up, there's a mechanical whirring from the deck. The sun is peeking from the horizon, bathing you in blue.
“No, no, no!” Holding onto the net, you hold on for dear life. You just hope the sailors are friendly enough to let you on board until they dock to the nearest land.
Your only sanctuary floats above the deck, overlooking every crew moving about. Looking below, you spot their rugged clothing *They don't look like sailors. Maybe they're not wearing their blue uniform? It's casual Friday perhaps?
“Drop the bloody thing!” Someone yells from below, you and the net fall from a height that you're sure broke something in you.
With your eyes shut, you hit the deck with a splattering sound. Thankfully you land on the pile of fish, squishing a sizable chunk on the wood; decorating their ship with fish guts. Your butt hurts from the impact, you're for sure going to be picking out fish bones embedded in your skin.
Someone gasps loudly next to you. Hearing frantic slashing sounds, you shield your face from the shiny knife. Before you know it, you're free from the tangles on the net, baring yourself to the entire crew.
“Fuckin' hell! It's a mermaid!” A man with long blonde hair tied into a bun excitedly yells out.
You look at him with wide eyes, the large black flag hangs above him, the skeleton of a spider painted on the flag dances in the wind.
They're not from the royal navy.
Running footsteps come towards you, then they stop. You watch as twenty or so people circle around your fallen form. You instinctively cover yourself with the net. Their faces morph from surprise to amusement. Some laugh, some roll their eyes in annoyance.
A man with glasses slaps the blonde upside his head. “You idiot! Does she look like a fuckin’ mermaid to you?” he points at your legs that are clearly not fins.
The blonde looks disappointed, “Man, I thought my dream came true”
“Looks like we've got a stowaway!” They sneer and jeer, looking down at you, leaning their scarred faces close to your face. Too close.
“Get off me!” You push one away. Taking a fish from the ground to defend yourself. Throwing it directly at his eyepatch. They laugh louder at your expense.
“She's a fighter too! Cap’n! Look at what the fish dragged in!” A man with a peg leg, calls.
With heaving breaths you watch as a large man comes down from the steps of the quarter deck. His heavy footfalls quieting the roaring laughter immediately, his arms are as big as your head, tattoos decorating every inch of his ivory skin. His big bushy beard moves as he spits on the deck. Your eyes flick to his tree trunk like waist, his gun and cutlass glinting in the barely rising sun.
He huffs, smoke comes out of his nostrils. His eyes stare you down and you visibly shrink.
“C’mon, big man, bloody move it” a slender hand grabs the man's large shoulder, moving him away to reveal a tall, slim figure. He smiles once he takes you in. “What do we have ‘ere?”
“A stowaway, Cap’n” the one with glasses informs him. “Got into the fishing net”
He saunters over to you, heavy boots thudding against the wood. The metals hanging from his clothes are swinging and clashing as he moves. The crowd parts for him. His hands are in his leather vest, he looks at you like he's found buried treasure. His grey eyes are twinkling in the blue light, a smirk playing on his pierced lips.
You grab your necklace for comfort, heart sinking to your stomach, the golden chain is nowhere to be found. You pat around your neck and blouse. Nothing. You're alone.
“Thought ol’ Jamesy ‘ere found us a mermaid” he bends at the waist, giving you a full view of his chiselled face. His eyes are shining with amusement.
You recognize his face from all the wanted posters you've seen around different towns while travelling. If the circumstances were different you'd say the painting didn't capture him right; how his eyes look at you with hidden apprehensiveness, yet there's something dangerous in them, something that could spell your doom.
Your fear increases tenfold when you roam your eyes around the different faces watching you. There's recognition in some of them, some more than others, their bounties you've seen on their respective posters appear above their heads; each in increasing numbers.
“Aye, thought so too” ‘Jamesy’ mumbles dejectedly.
His voice shakes you out of your fear laden stupor, but it's still there, still in your quaking heart and sweaty palms.
“Y’know, we don't take too kindly to stowaways.” Hobie’s threat makes you jump in your skin.
“I heard you're not kind to anybody” you grit your teeth.
You're facing him head on, despite your heart pumping loudly against your ribcage when you get a glimpse of his twin blunderbusses strapped to his waist.
A smile spreads on his face, eyes crinkling in the corners. “Hear that lads? We're proper famous!” he leans away,
They all guffaw, snickering among the crowd. A blonde with chopped hair and pink highlights push through the audience. She clicks her tongue, sleep clinging to her lashes.
“What's all this, Hobie?”
“A stowaway, Gwendy. You remember what we do to stowaways?”
‘Gwendy’ rolls her eyes. “I'm too tired for this,” she sighs. “Let's hear her side before we push her off, yeah?”
Push me off?! Your eyes are widely roaming around the strangers, pleading for an ounce of mercy.
“Be my guest” He slides to the side, gesturing towards you.
The blonde stares at you, waiting for some explanation. You can't help but think you remember her from somewhere but you're drawing a blank. Swallowing a lump in your throat, the fishy smell and the numerous eyes on you turns your stomach inside out.
“I was–” the large man you thought was the captain stares daggers at you. “It was an accident, really. You see, I was incredibly drunk” you try to stop the shaking in your voice to sound more convincing. “And I thought I was going home, truly.”
“You thought a fishing net was your home?” the entire crew laughs rambunctiously.
Hobie observes you from the side, leaning on the bannister so casually.
“Maybe we should just turn around and bring her home. That'll be okay, right?” A teenager with curly hair and golden bangles on his wrists pipes up from the side.
You think of the man waiting for you at the docks. You'd rather be fed to the sharks.
“Yeah, 'm sure she'd like that, won't you, scuttlebutt?” The captain smirks at you, there's a knowing look on his face. “Unless you don't want to go home? I don't see why we can't just drop you off.”
He moves closer to you, squatting down to face you. “Or she doesn't want to go home, judging from the go bag, this isn't some little drunk accident.” you can feel your pulse trying to escape. His eyes never leave yours. “Sure you smell like fish but I don't smell any liquor on those pretty lips of yours.” Hobie tilts his head, smiling mischievously. “You're running from someone, aren't you?”
You glare at him despite the fear crawling up your neck.
He nods, “Yeah, you are. We'd rather not be involved with whatever you've got goin' on.” his face turns serious, not even a ghost of a smile. “Finn”
With one call, the giant man takes you by the shoulders, standing you back to your shaky feet. You squirm, doing your best to push him off, but it's no use, he's too strong.
“Sorry to see you go so soon but I've got my entire crew to worry ‘bout.” he says softly.
You scoff, spitting venom. “The only thing you pirates care about is treasure and your next mark.”
With one last fight, you stomp on the man's boot clad foot, headbutting him in quick succession. They hoot and holler as your vision swirls.
Your act of defiance didn't even make the man flinch, he grunts, narrowing his eyes at you. Hobie's lackey turns you around to face the sea and the entrance to your death. Looking over your shoulder, you see him raise his thick eyebrow at you in mild annoyance.
“She's a feisty one, Hobie, you sure we can't let her stay? I'll take good care of her” A tall ravenette coos at you, staring directly at you with her dark eyes.
“I agree with Hobie, she might bring trouble” Another teenager comments, he crosses his arms, his eyes stare at you with remorse.
The man pushes you towards the open side of the ship where a singular wooden plank hangs precariously. The corner of the railing hits the small of your back. Your bag falls loudly on the deck, but you've got bigger problems right now than the sparse savings you've hidden inside.
“Wait!” You swallow your pride, it's better than drowning in the cold salty waters. “Please I'll do anything to stay or– or you can drop me off to the nearest land! Just–!” Finn pushes you again, your feet shuffle to fit the thin wood. The wind picks up, whipping at you wildly. The waves crash harshly on the side of the ship.
The vertigo makes you dizzy.
“Please! I can't–!”
Finn unsheathes his cutlass, pointing it at your heaving chest. You feel the sharp tip draw blood. He pushes and pushes until you're on the very edge of the plank. You struggle to find your balance while the wind blows rapidly, it stings your eyes, tears forming in them.
They all watch, some are grinning ear to ear like it's the best theatre show they've seen. The others are looking away or staring at their feet. Hobie looks on, posture straight, knuckles tight on his side.
“I can't swim–!” With one last push from the sharp sword, you fall.
Just above you, the pirates run towards the bannister to watch you fall in the water with a large splash.
Your back is stinging from the impact of the water, head pounding against your skull. The cold is unbearable like needles pricking your skin. You try to paddle up despite your thick clothes bringing you further down in the dark abyss. The dim light acts as your guide to the surface but it doesn't seem like your body is moving, you're quickly losing air. Bubbles escape from your lips, the salt blurs your vision.
Desperately with one kick, you feel the air from your lungs empty out, legs numb, hands reaching out towards the surface.
You choke on the salty water.
Her smiling face emerges from the darkness, now you know you've drowned. The only reason she would want you back is in death.
There's a muffled splash, a warm hand reaching for your cold ones. An unfamiliar arm snakes around your waist, bringing you up to the surface. They Frantically kick up, you feel a feather light touch on your freezing cheeks.
“Oi!” A muffled voice says. “Oi! Don't make me do mouth to mouth!” His voice gets clearer, he shakes your head, you feel calloused fingers on your skin then a breath fanning against your lips.
You splutter out, expelling water from your lungs with a choke. Holding to the nearest, steady thing, you grasp onto what feels like strong shoulders. Beneath your shaking fingers you feel raised scars.
“There you go, let it out, scuttlebutt” he pats your back as you continue to cough out. Your nails dig into his bare skin, he doesn't seem to mind. “Good on you for not makin’ me do mouth to mouth, huh?”
You wheeze out. “You fucker”
“What?”
“I said, you fucker!” Pushing him away, you sink back into the water, you panic once again.
Hobie grabs your wrist with one hand to pull you up like freshly caught fish. You glare at him through wet lashes.
“I saved your life and you're callin' me fucker?” You want to smack the smirk off his face.
“I almost drowned because of you!”
“Yeah, but that doesn't matter now because I saved your land loving arse! Who at this age can't swim anyway?!”
“Me, you bitch!” you try to kick him underwater.
“Hey, do you want to catch hyperthermia or what?” Gwendy asks from the lowered dinghy, her foot is resting on the edge casually, hand on her chin and a pierced eyebrow raised questioningly at you and Hobie who splashes water directly at your face.
With some help, you dog paddle to the boat. The smiling teenager helps you up, you feel like a ton of bricks with your thick clothes drenched.
“Here,” he takes his coat to place it around your shivering shoulders. “I'm Pavitr by the way, you okay?”
Pavitr tries to rub your shoulders for extra warmth but you flinch back, hugging the coat tighter around you.
“I'm fine, thank you, Pavitr”
The blonde pipes up, “I'm Gwen”
You nod, good thing you haven't called her ‘Gwendy’ yet.
“You needed the bath anyway, fish girl” Hobie scoffs from the other side of the boat.
You glare at him, huddled to yourself in the corner of the raising boat. The squeaking from the pulley makes you hold onto the side tighter, just in case it fails and drops you back down in the freezing water.
Hobie chuckles, water drips off his bare chest, glittering under the peaking sun. You look away with a roll of your eyes.
“Gwen, give her something warm to eat, yeah? And some clothes.”
“I was about to do that anyway”
The boat reaches back up, the crew secures the rope on the pulley with a grunt.
Hobie drops down on the deck first, he offers his hand that you huff at. Ignoring his help, you step on to the ship with shaky legs.
“Sea legs, you have to get used to it or the next two weeks for you would be hell.”
“What?”
“‘m letting you on board until we reach land. Unfortunately for you that won't be for the next two weeks. After that we're even.”
“Look who's guilty for almost killing me” you stand toe to toe with him. The rest of the crew has either gotten bored or are watching you two squabble with a smile.
“Don't push your luck, fish girl or I'll make you walk the plank again” he challenges you with a sly smile.
“I have a name!”
The captain tilts his head, amused. “Yeah? Tell me then so I have something to write on your gravestone”
You point angrily at his tattooed chest, right on the inky drawing of a long legged spider. “It's Y/N, asshole!”
Gwen sighs, waving you off.
“Well, Y/N Asshole, keep that fire in you but don't let it burn down my ship or–”
“Or what?”
He stares at your eyes, swirling grey whirlpools threatening to pull you under. Hobie sighs, turning around abruptly, leaving you standing alone on the deck.
“Hey!” You call back, “or what huh?!”
He waves you off, “‘s too early for this shit, ‘m goin' back to sleep. Goodnight, fish girl!”
Change of plans: survive the next two weeks with an entire ship full of pirates or die drowning in the middle of the sea. That should be easy enough, right?

Love Island: Episode 2
Tumblr media Tumblr media
series masterlist
pairings: rafe cameron x fem!reader
words: 4.9k
warnings: cuss words
Tumblr media
The fun and relaxed vibe the islanders had been building quickly shifts when the new arrival walks in.
“Woah! A girl!” Topper calls out from the kitchen, prompting a giggle from the newcomer as she approaches and greets him with a hug. Y/N, Sarah and Maddy exchange glances while Rafe, JJ and John B get off the daybed to meet the new girl. Rafe turns back to the girls with a teasing grin.
“Not coming?” He jokes, prompting them to get up. Y/N adjusts her dress, taking Maddy’s hand as they join the group.
“Why do I feel like she’s going to stir up some drama?” Y/N whispers, earning a snicker from Maddy.
“You’re probably right. My intuition’s saying the same thing.” Maddy replies as they follow the others. The islanders greet her warmly, introducing themselves with hugs.
“I’m Alyssa!” She announces with a bright smile. “Shall we head to the firepit? I’d love to get to know all of you!” She leads the way enthusiastically, the boys trailing after her while the girls hesitate before following.
As they all settle in, the boys begin asking Alyssa questions. It isn’t long before she glances around the group.
“Okay, so who’s coupled up with who?” She asks. Topper quickly wraps an arm around Sarah’s shoulders.
“I’m with Sarah.” He declares, as if staking his claim. Alyssa nods, her gaze shifting to Rafe, who is sitting beside Y/N.
“What about you? Rafe, right?” She asks. Rafe blinks, caught off guard.
“Uh, yeah. I’m, uh…I’m coupled up with Y/N,” He stammers making Y/N’s brows furrow slightly as Alyssa smirks.
“And how are things going between you two?” Alyssa presses, leaning forward slightly. Rafe glances at Y/N, seemingly searching for the right words.
“It’s still early days, but things are good.” Y/N answers when his silence lingers. The rest of the couples share their pairings as Alyssa nods thoughtfully. Later, the boys excuse themselves to let the girls chat with Alyssa.
“What’s your type?” Cleo asks curiously, making Alyssa pretend to think.
“Hmm…someone fit, with light eyes, that always gets me. Someone who’s fun but can have deep conversations too.” She pauses. “Rafe seems like that kind of guy.” She adds, causing the girls to exchange pointed looks. “Honestly, Rafe and Y/N seem like the it-couple here. They’re so close already and it’s only day two.” Maddy speaks up, making Y/N roll her eyes jokingly. Alyssa shruggs, undeterred.
“Well, like you said, it’s early days. His head could still turn.” She reveals, making the girls widen their eyes as they look at Y/N who turns to Maddie.
“Told you. Drama starter.” Y/N mutters to Maddy, who giggles, before turning back into conversation.
“Look, I’m not here to make seasonal girlfriends. I’m here to find love. If that means stepping on toes, so be it. You can’t expect to stay coupled up with the same person for weeks on end.” Alyssa leans back, addressing the group.
The girls exchange tense glances as Alyssa stands up. “Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to chat with the boys. See you around.” She walks away, her hips swaying exaggeratedly as she approaches the guys in the kitchen.
“Oh my god.” Sarah mutters.
“I was this close to punching her.” Kiara says through gritted teeth.
“She’s got some nerve.” Cleo adds. They all turn to Y/N, expecting a reaction.
“Aren’t you going to say something? She basically said she’s coming for Rafe.” Kiara presses, but Y/N only shrugs.
“Guys, it's still the second day. I…yeah, I have fun with Rafe already and there’s definitely something building there, but if his head is gonna turn, I can't help it.” She says, her voice casual, though there’s an underlying tension in her words.
“He’s not going to go for her.” Maddy says confidently and the others nod in agreement.
“Early days, Mads.” She tries to remind Maddy, but mostly says it as a reminder to herself.
The rest of the evening unfolds with Alyssa effortlessly mingling with the guys, laughing and chatting as she tries to make connections. When it’s finally time to wind down, the girls retreat to the makeup room, giggling and talking as they remove their makeup and change for bed. Alyssa, however, is in the bathroom, mid-skincare routine, when Rafe walks in wearing nothing but his boxers, ready to brush his teeth.
“Oh, hey.” He says casually, grabbing and wetting the bristles of his toothbrush. Alyssa smirks, letting her hair tumble free from her ponytail and running her fingers through it.
“Hey, Rafe.” She replies, her tone light and flirtatious. She leans against the counter, her gaze roaming over his defined chest and abs.
“You good? Having fun?” He asks, voice slightly muffled from toothpaste as he starts brushing his teeth.
“Yeah.” She answers, her smirk widening. “You guys are fun. Nice. And very good-looking.” Rafe chuckles, spitting into the sink before wiping his mouth with a towel. She steps closer, twirling a strand of her hair around her finger.
“So, what is it you said you do?”
“My family owns a construction and development company.” Rafe replies, his tone polite but detached. Alyssa nods thoughtfully.
“Do you have a type?” She asks, her bluntness catching him off guard.
“Uh…not really.” He says after a pause. “I guess I like someone I can have fun with, adventures, good banter, that sort of thing.” As he speaks, his thoughts drift to Y/N. If they could go far enough to explore whatever this chemistry between them has to offer.
“Oh my god, that’s exactly what I look for too!” Alyssa exclaims, her eyes lighting up. “So…would you say I’m your type?” Rafe glances at her briefly before shrugging.
“Uh, sure.” He replies nonchalantly, his tone devoid of enthusiasm, but Alyssa smirks.
“Good to know.” She murmurs.
Just then, the bathroom door opens and Y/N steps inside. She’s wearing a pink pajama set with delicate lace trim, her tank top and shorts hugging her frame perfectly. Her wide eyes flicker between them.
“Am I interrupting?” She asks quietly, fidgeting with the ring on her finger. Rafe straightens immediately, relief washing over him at the sight of her.
“No, no, not at all.” He assures her, stepping aside so she can reach the sink. Alyssa gives Y/N a slow, appraising look before humming softly.
“Well, I’ll leave you two to it. Nice talking to you, Rafe.” Without waiting for a response, she saunters out of the room. Y/N ties her hair back and begins washing her face. Rafe leans against the counter, watching her through the mirror.
“You okay?” He asks, his voice softer now and she nods, glancing at him with a small smile. Rafe’s chest tightens at her smile. He waits patiently as she finishes rinsing her face and grabs her toothbrush.
“What do you think of Alyssa?” She asks suddenly, catching him off guard. Rafe’s brows shoot up.
“Uh…she’s…okay?” He says hesitantly and Y/N raises an eyebrow, silently urging him to continue.
“She’s pretty.” He admits, shifting uncomfortably. “But there’s something missing. I just…I don’t think I could ever be attracted to her. Not in the same way as…” He trails off, his gaze locking with hers through the mirror. He closes his eyes, scratching the back of his neck, before finishing his sentence. “…you.”
Y/N’s eyes widen as she nearly chokes on her toothpaste. She turns away, coughing violently. Rafe immediately steps forward, gently rubbing her back.
“You okay? Want me to grab you some water?” He asks, concerned but she shakes her head, still coughing.
“No, no, I’m fine. Just…swallowed wrong.” She manages, her cheeks flushing as she spits into the sink. Rafe chuckles, leaning against the counter again as she wipes her mouth. His eyes drift over her, taking in her loose ponytail and her now-glowing, makeup-free face.
“What’s that?” He asks when she grabs a small jar from the counter.
“My moisturizer.” She explains, with a hoarse voice. “Do you want some?” Rafe nods, a smirk tugging at his lips.
“Only if you do it.” He murmurs making Y/N laugh softly as she gestures for him to lean down. He crouches slightly, closing his eyes as her fingers gently glide over his face. Her touch is featherlight and Rafe exhales a deep breath he didn’t realize he was holding.
“That feels…really good.” He whispers. Y/N smiles, carefully working the cream into his skin.
“It’ll feel sticky at first, but it’s great for hydration. With all the sun we’re exposed to, it helps a lot.” She explains. When she finishes, Rafe glances in the mirror, noting the glow on his face.
“Looks good.” He says, turning back to her. His eyes linger as she adjusts her tank top strap and his jaw tightens at the sight of her effortless beauty.
“Ready to head downstairs?” He asks, clearing his throat and Y/N nods, leading the way to the bedroom. They settle into their respective sides of the bed, adjusting the covers. Y/N shifts slightly, her leg brushing against his and Rafe’s breath hitches.
As the rest of the islanders head to bed and the lights dim, Rafe props himself on one elbow, watching Y/N as she faces him. He brushes a strand of hair away from her face.
“You don’t have to worry about her, you know.” He whispers, making Y/N hum softly in question, her eyes meeting his.
“Alyssa.” He clarifies. “I like what we have and I want to see where it goes. However long or short that is.” His fingers twist a strand of her hair as he speaks, his voice barely audible. Y/N smiles, her arm draping over his torso in response. Rafe mirrors her smile, pulling her closer. He presses a gentle kiss to her forehead, the warmth of her body lulling him into a peaceful sleep.
The next day moves at a slower pace compared to the earlier ones. The girls lounge by the pool, gossiping about the boys as they work out and relax around the villa. Rafe and Y/N find a quiet moment together, stretched out on the couch under the terrace, getting to know each other better.
“Do you have any hobbies?” Rafe asks, his eyes closed as Y/N’s nails lightly trace along his arm, the touch comforting them both.
“Uh…I dance. I paint. And I read a lot too.” She reveals, her voice soft but genuine.
“Creative, aren’t you?” He teases, a smirk tugging at his lips, making her chuckle lightly.
“What can I say?” She teases, making him laugh along.
“What kind of dancing do you do?” His curiosity is evident and her touch doesn’t falter as she answers.
“I do some hip-hop, some contemporary too but mostly heels dancing.” She admits casually, catching him by surprise.
“Heels dancing? How does that even work?” He asks, raising a brow in disbelief.
“It’s this really sexy, technical style of dance in stilettos. It can be very challenging, but it’s so beautiful.” She explains, her face lighting up with enthusiasm as she talks about it. Rafe can’t help but admire the way she glows when she speaks about the things she loves.
“That sounds…I mean, I’ve got to see that.” He teases, grinning at her reaction.
“We’ll see about that.” She murmurs, looking away bashfully.
“Don’t get shy on me now.” He prods. “I bet you’re incredible at it. Especially that kind of dance.” Her nails pause briefly as she looks at him.
“You really think so?”
“I do.” He says earnestly. “And I’d love to see you dance. Anytime.” Her lips curl into a smile.
“Okay.” She whispers, agreeing softly.
Their quiet moment is interrupted by the sharp ping of a phone notification. Gasps ripple through the villa and Y/N sits up quickly, exchanging wide-eyed glances with Rafe as he follows her lead.
“Yeah? You’ll actually let me?” He presses, slightly surprised, but her soft laugh and nod are all the confirmation he needs. He grins, satisfied, before pulling his sunglasses back on and laying back down on the couch.
“I got a text!” Alyssa’s voice rings out, full of excitement. Y/N rises from the couch and glances toward the pool, where some of the girls chill in, Rafe instinctively placing a hand on her shoulder as he trails behind her.
“Alyssa, tonight you get to couple up with a boy of your choice, leaving a girl single and vulnerable. #maketherightchoice #steppingontoes.” Alyssa grins, reading the message aloud. Her excitement is palpable, while the rest of the girls exchange uneasy looks. The boys huddle nearby, their murmurs growing louder. Y/N glances at Rafe, the pit in her stomach tightening.
“I’m…I’m gonna go talk to the girls.” She mutters, her voice low. Rafe nods slowly.
“Yeah, of course. I’ll see you later.” He says, giving her shoulder a reassuring squeeze before letting her go. His eyes follow her as she walks toward Maddy and Sarah, her bikini accentuating every curve.
“I feel like I’m gonna throw up.” Sarah groans as Y/N sits down beside her.
“Did you see how thrilled she was to read that? She doesn’t care about any of us.” Maddy snaps, glaring toward Alyssa.
“Y/N, what’s on your mind?” Sarah asks, noticing the tension on her face.
“I…I don’t know. It’s just…I can’t control who she’s going to pick. And if it’s Rafe…” She pauses, taking a deep breath. “Yeah, I’ll be pretty bummed.” Maddy shakes her head firmly.
“He won’t give her a reason to pick him. He likes you, Y/N. It's obvious.” Before Y/N can respond, Alyssa’s high-pitched voice cuts through the villa.
“Rafey! Can I chat with you?”
Y/N stiffens, glancing over as Alyssa grabs Rafe’s arm. He looks confused but doesn’t protest. He turns back briefly, as if to gauge Y/N’s reaction, but she’s already averting her gaze. With a sigh, he lets Alyssa lead him to a secluded couch far from the others.
“Spoke too soon.” Y/N mutters under her breath, her fingers fidgeting with her ring as she tries to suppress the unease bubbling in her chest.
“Don’t do this to yourself.” Maddy insists. “Rafe likes you. A chat doesn’t mean anything.”
Meanwhile, Alyssa is pouring on the charm as she talks to Rafe, her fingers twirling a strand of hair.
“When was your last relationship?” She asks, her tone dripping with fake sweetness. Rafe shifts uncomfortably, avoiding her gaze.
“Over a year ago.” He says flatly.
“Was it a bad breakup?” She presses, leaning in closer and Rafe’s jaw tightens.
“That’s none of your business.”
“Relax, it’s just a question.” Alyssa replies with a low chuckle, her eyes shamelessly scanning him. “You work out, don’t you?” He nods curtly, barely holding back his irritation. Alyssa laughs softly at her own comment, but Rafe is already tuning her out. His thoughts drift back to Y/N. He can’t wait to walk away from this pointless conversation and return to her.
In the kitchen, Y/N is slicing fruit for a smoothie when Pope joins her, sliding onto a nearby stool. His eyes flick toward where Rafe and Alyssa are seated.
“They’ve been talking for a while.” He notes casually. Y/N glances in their direction briefly before returning her attention to the fruit. Her hands move quickly, but her grip on the knife is noticeably tense.
“Are you okay?” Pope asks gently. “Maybe…put the knife down for a second?” Startled, Y/N looks at her trembling hand and sets the knife aside with a sigh.
“I’m fine. Just…you know.” She struggles to explain, but Pope nods knowingly.
“I get it. My ex, she was gorgeous.”
“She’s not dead, Pope.” Y/N quips, cracking a small smile despite herself and he laughs.
“Fair. But yeah, she always got a lot of attention. And I’m not the jealous type, well, I try not to be, but it got to me sometimes.”
“I’m not jealous. I’m just…worried.” Y/N admits.
“That’s fair.” Pope says thoughtfully. “But even if things don’t go as planned, you’ll find someone who’s perfect for you.” He pauses, smirking. “Maybe he’s closer than you think.” Y/N chuckles, shaking her head as Pope blushes.
“Thanks, Pope. I appreciate it.” She says warmly before turning back to her smoothie.
“Hey.” Rafe says casually, drawing both of their gazes. Cleo smirks, rising from her seat.
As the sun dips below the horizon, the villa comes alive once again, music and laughter weaving through the air. Islanders mingle, drinks in hand, their conversations buzzing with energy. Y/N sits with Cleo on the daybed, both of them laughing loudly as they chat, until he approaches.
“I’ll leave you two to do your little Bluetooth thing.” She teases, waving a hand between them. Y/N rolls her eyes, the corners of her lips twitching in amusement.
“See you later, boo.” Y/N murmurs as Cleo leans down to kiss her cheek, then walks away with a knowing grin. Rafe takes her place, kneeling on the daybed before sitting down beside Y/N.
“You okay?” He asks, his voice soft as his eyes fall to her hands, which are busy twisting the rings on her fingers.
“Yeah.” She whispers, but her tone betrays her. Rafe frowns slightly and reaches for her hand, his touch gentle.
“Be honest. Did I do something? You’ve been...distant. Earlier, we were good. Did I say something stupid?” Y/N lifts her head, her eyes meeting his briefly before she shakes her head.
“No, no, you didn’t do anything. It’s just...I...” She trails off, struggling to find the words.
“You can tell me. Whatever it is, I want to know.” He squeezes her hand, his voice steady and comforting. Y/N exhales deeply.
“Alyssa.” She finally murmurs. “She...I’m worried.” Rafe shakes his head immediately.
“You shouldn't be.” He says.
“I mean, I get it…it's pretty early to close things off or anything and of course I'm not gonna ask you to do something like that. It's just…I like…how we are. The vibes, the talks, everything. And…I wanna explore this. But I can't help and worry. You know?” She explains and he nods understandingly.
“Yeah, I get it. And for the record, I do like how things are going too. But…I'm not interested in her.” He assures her, his voice firm. She exhales softly, the tension in her shoulders easing.
“Okay.” She whispers. “But…what if-”
“She's not gonna pick me. I made it pretty clear that I'm not interested in her. Okay? Can you trust me on this?” He asks, grabbing her hand to reassure her. Her fingers tighten around his as she nods, her eyes meeting his. For a moment, everything else fades away. Her breath hitches when his gaze drops to her lips, but the moment is broken by the sharp ping of a phone. Y/N pulls back slightly, her eyes darting to the kitchen where Topper is staring at his screen.
“I got a text!” He announces. “Can all islanders gather at the firepit? #shitisabouttogodown #stealingtime.”
The group buzzes with chatter as they move toward the firepit. Rafe helps Y/N to her feet, keeping her hand in his as they walk. Just before they arrive, he gently tugs her closer.
“We’re going to be okay.” He murmurs, his arm slipping around her waist as he leads her to sit down beside him.
The tension in the air is thick as everyone waits, nerves on edge. Another phone ping sounds and all eyes turn to Alyssa, who smirks as she stands, her phone in hand.
“Alyssa, it’s time for you to choose which boy you want to couple up with.” She reads aloud, stepping forward. The girls exchange uneasy glances, but Y/N keeps her focus on the fire.
“This wasn’t an easy decision.” Alyssa begins, her tone practiced. “I didn’t have much time to think and I’m not sure if it’s the right choice. But this boy made me feel welcome and I really enjoyed the banter we shared. And I think there's more to explore with him.”
“The boy I want to couple up with is...” She pauses, the silence stretching. Sarah glances nervously at Y/N, Kiara’s leg bounces restlessly and Cleo suppresses a yawn.
“Rafe.”
Y/N feels her chest tighten at the reveal, her heart sinking.
“Oh my god.” Maddy whispers. Rafe looks at Alyssa, stunned, before turning to Y/N, whose face is unreadable as she stares into the flames. Alyssa steps closer, extending her hand to Rafe. He rises reluctantly, not touching her, his gaze fixed on Y/N.
Another ping breaks the silence. Y/N picks up her phone with trembling hands.
“Y/N, you are now single.” She reads quietly. “But don’t worry, the best is yet to come. #itsokayboo #troubleinparadise.” Sarah and Maddy immediately move to her side, guiding her away from the firepit. Rafe steps forward, trying to follow, but Cleo blocks him.
“Give her some time, pretty boy.” She says firmly, following the group with Kiara.
“What the fuck just happened?” JJ mutters, staring into the firepit as the others look on in stunned silence.
In the kitchen, the girls gather around Y/N on the couch, their faces etched with concern.
“How are you feeling?” Sarah asks cautiously and Cleo elbows her.
“What kind of question is that? Obviously, she feels like shit.”
“Cleo!” Maddy snaps, before turning back to Y/N. “Is there anything we can do to help?”
“I’m fine.” Y/N lies, twisting her ring anxiously.
“Don’t do that.” Kiara says softly, kneeling in front of her. “It’s okay to be upset.” Y/N exhales shakily.
“He told me not to worry. That he made it clear to her he wasn’t interested. He said she wouldn’t pick him. And yet...here we are.” The girls all stare at her with sympathy, wanting to comfort her. Before the girls can respond, Rafe’s voice cuts in.
“Can we talk?” He asks.
“She doesn’t want to talk to you,” Kiara snaps, her tone icy.
“Fuck off.” Sarah adds sharply.
“All men do is lie.” Cleo mutters, shoving him back. Rafe stumbles and sighs, his eyes glued on Y/N who looks at Maddy on the other side. Maddy rubs her back as she stares back at her.
“Please.” Rafe says desperately, his eyes fixed on Y/N. “I didn’t know she’d do this. Y/N, come on.” Y/N finally looks up at him, her voice steady but cold.
“She wouldn’t have chosen you if you hadn’t given her a reason to.”
“I didn’t!” Rafe exclaims, frustration coloring his voice. “I told her I wasn’t interested!”
“Yeah, right.” Y/N retorts. “I don’t want to hear it, Rafe. You made me trust you and now you’ve ruined it.”
“She didn’t misunderstand.” Alyssa interjects smugly, crossing her arms.
“I didn’t mean to betray your trust…upset you. I meant it when I said that I'm not into her. Okay? I don't know, she…she must have misunderstood.” He exclaims, Alyssa and the boys following her.
Rafe turns to her, frustration evident in his furrowed brows, but before he can say anything, Y/N stands abruptly from the couch and heads inside the villa. The group shifts their attention to Rafe and Alyssa.
“Alyssa, what do you mean?” Sarah asks, adjusting her dress.
“I mean, Rafe was being nice to me, flirting, even. He never said he was closed off or that he wasn’t interested.” Alyssa claims, her voice laced with confidence. Rafe exhales sharply, rubbing a hand down his face.
“Alyssa, I’m not interested in you. And I wasn’t flirting. I was just being polite. That’s it.” His tone is firm, and Alyssa stiffens at his words. “I like Y/N.” He continues, his voice unwavering.
“I like how things are with her. Yeah, it’s early and she said we should keep our options open, but I’m not keeping them open for you.” With that, he turns on his heel and walks away, leaving everyone stunned, including Alyssa.
Upstairs, Y/N sits on the terrace, absentmindedly twisting a ring on her finger as her eyes glimmer. The soft click of the door closing behind Rafe makes her glance up.
“Can we please talk?” He asks, his voice quiet, almost hesitant. She nods and he steps closer, settling beside her.
“Don’t shut me out.” He pleads. “Yell at me if you have to. Just…don’t shut me out.” Y/N sighs, her gaze dropping to her hands.
“I shouldn’t be upset. We never said we were exclusive and it’s still early. But…when she said you made her feel welcome, that she wanted to explore something with you, it frustrated me. Because you told me you weren’t interested. That you made it clear to her.”
“I did make it clear.” Rafe insists. “I swear, I never meant to give her the wrong idea.” She exhales shakily.
“Trust is a big thing for me, Rafe. And it’s not easy for me to just-” She stops, her voice trailing off. Rafe reaches out, resting a reassuring hand on her thigh.
“I know I messed up. I should have been more direct with her.” His thumb brushes against her skin in a soothing motion. “I get it if you’re upset. You have every right to. But I want to make this up to you, to prove to you that I like you, Y/N. That I’m in this.” His voice softens. “I can’t promise I won’t screw up again, because, honestly? I can be kind of an idiot.” A small laugh escapes her lips and Rafe grins.
“But I can promise to try for you.” He finishes, the sincerity in his eyes catching her off guard. She leans in slightly and he takes the hint, cupping her face gently. Her eyes flicker to his lips.
“I don’t want you to feel obliged to choose me.” She murmurs. “I love spending time with you, but I don’t want you turning people down just because of me or because you think you have to.”
“Just…let's see where this takes us? Okay?” She asks and Rafe doesn’t answer. Instead, he closes the distance, pressing his lips to hers. She stiffens for half a second before melting into him, the kiss soft yet charged. When they finally pull apart, Rafe’s lips curl into a small smile.
“Promise me you won’t shut me out.” He whispers. “I need to hear you. Even if it’s just to tell me I’m being a dumbass.” She rolls her eyes playfully.
“Okay, Rafey.” The moment the nickname leaves her lips, Rafe tenses. He swallows hard.
“Wh-what?” His voice comes out rougher than expected. She smirks.
“It’s not ridiculous.” He mutters under his breath, making her brows lift in confusion.
“Oh, that ridiculous nickname Alyssa called you earlier.” She rolls her eyes, grinning.
“Oh? My bad, I didn’t realize you actually liked it-”
“No, no.” He interrupts quickly. “I don’t mean that. I just-” He hesitates, then exhales. “I don’t like it when she says it. But…when you say it? I don’t mind.” Y/N tilts her head, amused.
“Oh? Good to know.” A knowing smile tugs at her lips as she leans back and Rafe watches her, shaking his head with a quiet chuckle.
Under the night sky, they sit together in comfortable silence, the tension between them slowly fading into something lighter, something undeniable.
Later that night, as the islanders get ready for bed, Y/N heads downstairs and immediately notices the newly added bed in the room, her name plaque resting on top. She sighs softly, slipping under the covers and getting comfortable. Maddy walks past, pausing just long enough to press a quick kiss to her forehead before heading to her own bed. Moments later, JJ strolls by and stops beside her, smirking.
“You know, Maddy wouldn’t mind me joining you.” He teases. Y/N rolls her eyes, fighting back a smile.
“Go to bed, J.” She says and JJ shrugs.
“Well, I offered.” He exclaims before wandering off. Soon after, Rafe makes his way to his own bed, only to pause when he notices the name plaque on it has changed. His gaze sweeps the room until he spots her. Without hesitation, he walks over, leans down and presses a kiss to her lips before she can react.
“I’m gonna miss you tonight.” He murmurs, his lips still grazing hers. From across the room, Topper and Sarah holler in amusement, making Y/N giggle. She playfully pecks Rafe’s lips once more.
“You mean you’re gonna miss me hogging the blanket?” She teases.
“Oh, 100%.” He deadpans. “I love waking up in the middle of the night freezing while you’re wrapped up like a human burrito.” She laughs, giving him a gentle push.
“Go to your bed.” She murmurs. Rafe smirks, backing away slowly before finally climbing into his bed, conveniently positioned across from hers. He doesn’t take his eyes off her, watching as she shakes her head and turns to chat with Cleo.
Then, Alyssa enters the room. The energy shifts as everyone’s attention flickers toward her. Without saying a word, she moves to her bed and lies down, keeping to the very edge. She doesn’t look at Rafe. Doesn’t speak to anyone.
“Goodnight, everyone!” Kiara calls from across the room, sparking a chorus of sleepy goodnights as the lights dim. Just as the room falls into silence, Rafe’s voice cuts through the darkness.
“Oh, hey, Y/N!” She furrows her brows, cheeks instantly warming, nervous for what to come out of his mouth.
“W-what?”
The entire room seems to hold its breath, waiting for whatever he’s about to say.
“For the love of God and for my sake, please don’t dream of Captain America tonight.” He jokes. Laughter erupts, filling the space. Y/N grins, grabbing her pillow and launching it across the room. It hits Rafe with a muffled thud, making him groan. As the laughter fades and the room settles, Y/N exhales softly, sinking into her bed.
Maybe Rafe was right. They’re going to be okay.

Tumblr media
One Week Before
You stand in the kitchen of the lake house, absently scrolling through your phone while Jim and Ellen sit at the table, chatting over their morning coffee. Quinn is perched on a stool at the kitchen island, Jack and Luke beside him, all three listening in as you think out loud.
“I think I’m gonna get my nails done,” you say, mostly to yourself, glancing up from your screen. “I found this cute place nearby on Instagram. Might go check it out.”
Quinn freezes. Luke and Jack do the same, exchanging quick glances before all three of them force identical, strained smiles.
“Here?” Quinn asks, a little too casually.
You nod and turn your phone to show Ellen the pictures. “Yeah, thought it’d be nice to get a little pampered. Ellen, want to come with?”
For a split second, her eyes flick to Jim before she shakes her head with a warm—if slightly nervous—smile. “Oh, no, sweetheart. I think I’ll stay back, got a few things to tidy up around the house.”
You frown slightly, glancing between them. “I mean, I don’t have to go either. I could just hang—”
“NO!”
The entire Hughes family responds in unison, voices overlapping in a loud, comically panicked outburst. Even Jim, who’s been silent all morning, leans forward, wide-eyed like you just suggested setting the house on fire.
Quinn is the first to recover. He clears his throat and plasters on a quick, reassuring smile. “No, honey, you should definitely go. Treat yourself.” He waves a hand toward the door, trying—and failing—to sound nonchalant. “Have a nice day out.”
Your eyes narrow. “Okay…?” You drag the word out, suspicious, but slide your phone into your bag anyway. Grabbing your keys, you head for the door, throwing one last curious glance over your shoulder before stepping out.
As soon as the door clicks shut, Luke lets out a long breath. “Close call.”
Jim shakes his head, grinning. “She almost caught on already. We need to be more careful, boys.”
Downtown is quiet, the main street lined with flower boxes and little local shops. Lakeside Nails sits nestled between a café and an old bookstore, its windows decorated with delicate white lettering.
A nail tech waves you over with a friendly smile. “Hi! You must be my one o’clock.”
“That’s me.” You settle into the chair as she sets up.
“I’m Maya. What are we doing today?”
You pull up a photo. “Something like this? Just a clean, neutral look.”
Maya nods approvingly. “Pretty! So, just a little solo pampering trip?”
“Sort of. I’m staying at the lake house with my boyfriend and his family. Thought I’d take a little break and explore.”
Maya hums, focusing on your nails. “How’d you two meet?”
You smile, thinking back. “Through mutual friends. He was quiet at first, but then he made me laugh when I wasn’t expecting it. I don’t know… I just felt comfortable with him.”
“Those are the best ones,” she says with a grin. “Sounds like a good guy.”
“Yeah,” you say softly, warmth blooming in your chest. “He really is.”
When you walk back into the lake house, Quinn is stretched out on the couch, scrolling through his phone. He glances up as you come in, a lazy smile spreading across his face.
“Hey,” he says, sitting up. “Let’s see the nails.”
You plop down beside him, holding out your hand. He takes it, running his thumb lightly over your fingers. “Looks good,” he says, approving.
“Glad you think so.” You lean into him as his arm wraps around you, the warmth of his touch settling you into an easy quiet.
The rest of the evening is simple—pasta and salad for dinner, laughter when Quinn drops a handful of cherry tomatoes and watches them roll across the counter. Later, you curl up under a blanket with an old movie on, his fingers absentmindedly running through your hair. The house is peaceful, filled with the soft flicker of the TV and the steady rhythm of his breathing.
You don’t notice the way he looks at you. The way his gaze lingers, like he’s memorizing everything. Like he’s counting down.
Five Days Before
You wake slowly, the warmth of morning light filtering through the curtains. Quinn’s arm is draped over your waist, his hand resting lightly on your hip, his breathing steady and close. He stirs, his nose brushing against the back of your neck as he pulls you closer.
“Morning,” he mumbles, voice thick with sleep.
You smile, rolling over to face him. His eyes are still half-closed, messy hair falling over his forehead. You trace your fingers along his cheek, feeling the scratch of stubble. He leans into your touch, eyes fluttering shut for a moment.
“Good morning,” you whisper.
He catches your hand, lacing his fingers through yours before bringing it to his lips, pressing a kiss to your knuckles.
You don’t realize how he looks at you—like you might disappear if he blinks.
“Honey, we’re on breakfast duty,” you remind him.
Quinn groans, shoving his face into your collarbone, stubble tickling your skin. He mumbles something, voice muffled.
You laugh. “No, we can’t let your brothers do it. Unless you want the house to burn down.”
Another grunt, but this time, he shifts, reluctantly getting up. You follow, falling into your usual morning routine.
As you pull on a sweater, he watches from the bathroom mirror, hoping you don’t dig too far into his sock drawer.
Hoping you don’t find the velvet box.
You don’t thank the higher power, but it only puts more pressure on Quinn to pop the damn question.
Four Days Before
The lake house hums with its usual morning energy—Jack and Luke bickering over who gets the last pancake, Ellen moving around the kitchen with effortless ease, and Jim sipping his coffee while reading the newspaper like he’s immune to the chaos around him.
Quinn, however, is focused on one thing.
He leans against the counter, arms crossed, watching as you sit at the kitchen table, scrolling absently through your phone. Every few seconds, you look up to add something to the conversation, laughing as Luke launches a grape at Jack’s head. Quinn should be listening, should be jumping in with a comment of his own, but instead, his mind is caught on a single thought: How do I get her to buy the dress?
The dress—the one he wants to see you in when he finally asks the biggest question of his life. He saw it a few days ago when you were flipping through your phone, showing Ellen some boutique you wanted to check out. You hadn’t bought anything yet, just admired a few pieces before getting distracted by something else.
Now, with only four days to go, he needs to make sure you pick the one.
Quinn exhales through his nose and glances toward his brothers. Perfect.
Jack notices first, eyebrows furrowing as he watches Quinn silently glare at him. What? he mouths.
Quinn jerks his head toward the living room, signaling them to follow. Jack and Luke exchange a glance but don’t argue, trudging after him as he disappears down the hallway.
Once they’re out of earshot, Quinn turns to them, hands on his hips like he’s about to give them the most important assignment of their lives.
“Alright, I need you two to do something for me.”
Jack immediately groans. “Oh my god, what now?”
“It’s important,” Quinn says, leveling them with a look.
Luke raises an eyebrow. “Like, life-or-death important? Or are we talking Quinn-important, which means it’s about the love of your life?”
Jack snorts. “Yeah, do we need to prepare a eulogy?”
Quinn ignores them. “I need you guys to get her to buy a dress.”
Both of them stare at him.
“A dress,” Jack repeats flatly. “You dragged us away from breakfast for that?”
“Not just any dress,” Quinn says, rubbing the back of his neck. He feels stupid saying it out loud, but if there’s anyone who can pull this off without making it suspicious, it’s these two. “She was looking at this one the other day. It’s perfect for when I—” He stops himself before finishing the sentence, clearing his throat.
Luke catches on first. His eyes widen slightly before he grins. “Ohhh. You mean the dress.”
Jack still looks lost. “What—Oh. Ohhh.”
Quinn nods.
“Okay, so you want us to, what? Trick her into buying it?” Jack asks, crossing his arms.
“Not trick her,” Quinn corrects. “Just… steer her in the right direction.”
Luke grins. “You want us to gaslight her into thinking she needs it.”
“I didn’t say that.”
“You basically did,” Jack says.
Quinn sighs. “Can you two just do it?”
Luke claps a hand on his shoulder. “Don’t worry, Q, we got this. She’ll be buying that dress by the end of the day.”
Jack cracks his knuckles. “Time to be annoying.”
“Just don’t make it obvious,” Quinn warns.
Luke grins. “No promises.”
Later That Day – The Shopping Trip
You hadn’t really planned on buying anything today.
The town’s little boutique district is charming, with its cobblestone paths and flower boxes hanging from the windows, but you were mostly browsing—taking in the sights, enjoying the crisp summer air, and, apparently, getting bombarded with very strong opinions from Jack and Luke.
“I’m just saying,” Jack starts, walking beside you with his hands in his pockets, “you’ve been talking about wanting a nice dress for a while.”
“Have I?” you ask, raising an eyebrow.
Luke, walking on your other side, nods solemnly. “Oh yeah. All the time. Constantly.”
You snort. “I’m pretty sure I haven’t.”
Jack ignores you. “And look at this!” He gestures dramatically toward one of the boutique windows. “A whole store dedicated to dresses! What are the odds?”
“Crazy,” Luke deadpans.
You give them a suspicious look. “Are you guys okay?”
“We’re great,” Jack says. “But you’d be even better if you had a new dress.”
Luke nods. “The best version of yourself, really.”
You shake your head with a laugh. “What is wrong with you two?”
“Nothing,” Jack says quickly. “We just care about you. And your wardrobe.”
“Especially that one dress you liked the other day,” Luke adds casually. “That was a good one.”
You narrow your eyes. “How do you even know about that?”
Jack elbows Luke.
He gives you a pained smile, “intuition?”
Luke sighs dramatically, turning toward you. “Look,, all I’m saying is that you should try it on. No pressure. No commitment. Just try it on and see how you feel.”
“Yeah,” Jack agrees. “Worst case? You hate it, and we all move on with our lives. Best case? You look amazing, and you thank us forever.”
You roll your eyes but, against your better judgment, let them lead you inside. The boutique is small but elegant, with soft lighting and carefully arranged racks of clothing. A sales associate greets you warmly, and before you know it, Luke and Jack are pushing you toward the exact dress they’ve clearly been scheming about.
You sigh, running your fingers over the fabric. It is beautiful.
“Just try it,” Luke urges. “For science.”
“For science,” Jack echoes.
You huff a laugh. “Fine. But if I don’t like it, you both owe me coffee.”
“Deal,” they say in unison.
Ten minutes later, you step out of the dressing room, smoothing your hands over the fabric. The dress fits perfectly, hugging in all the right places, flowing just enough to feel effortless. You glance at your reflection in the boutique mirror, tilting your head slightly.
“Well?” Jack asks, leaning forward eagerly.
Luke grins. “Yup. That’s the one.”
You shake your head, but you can’t help the small smile that tugs at your lips. “You guys are the worst.”
“And yet, we just helped you find your new favorite dress,” Jack points out.
You sigh. “Fine. But you’re still buying me coffee.”
Luke claps his hands. “Worth it.”
Meanwhile, back at the lake house, Quinn gets a text.
Luke: Mission accomplished.
He exhales, a slow smile spreading across his face.
Three more days.
Three Days Before
The morning sun spills through the windows of the lake house, casting warm golden hues over the kitchen. You hum softly to yourself as you pour a cup of coffee, the scent of roasted beans filling the air. Ellen is at the stove flipping pancakes while Jim reads the newspaper at the table, occasionally sipping his coffee. Jack and Luke sit across from him, bickering over who gets the last piece of toast.
Quinn stands by the fridge, looking unusually tense as he scrolls through his phone. You don’t think much of it—he’s always been the quiet, deep-in-thought type—but there’s something about the way he keeps glancing at you that makes you pause.
"Morning," you say, leaning against the counter as you take a slow sip of coffee. "What's up?"
Quinn's head snaps up like he’s been caught doing something he shouldn’t. His fingers tighten around his phone, and for a second, he looks almost guilty.
"Uh—nothing. Just checking something." His voice is too quick, too casual, and you narrow your eyes.
Before you can push him further, Ellen calls over her shoulder, "Sweetheart, could you grab the syrup?"
You nod and step toward the pantry, but just as you do, Quinn leans closer to Ellen and whispers something.
You freeze mid-step.
It’s barely audible, just the faintest murmur of his voice, but you catch it. Ellen’s eyes widen for a fraction of a second before she quickly schools her expression into something neutral.
Jim, who’s been mostly uninvolved in the morning chaos, suddenly folds his newspaper with a snap and clears his throat. Jack and Luke immediately stop arguing and sit up straighter, the air shifting ever so slightly.
You narrow your eyes. "Okay, what was that?"
Quinn immediately shakes his head. "What was what?"
"The whispering. The weird glances. Why do you all look like you just got caught committing a crime?"
Jack lets out a bark of nervous laughter. "Pfft, what? No crime here."
Luke elbows him, and he winces. "We were just—uh, talking about, um—"
"The weather," Jim supplies, nodding sagely.
"The weather?" you repeat flatly.
"Yup," Quinn says, grabbing a banana from the fruit bowl and peeling it aggressively like that’ll somehow sell the lie.
You cross your arms, skeptical. "And what, exactly, about the weather required a top-secret family meeting?"
Ellen waves a hand dismissively. "Oh, just—just how lovely it's supposed to be this weekend! Perfect for, um, outdoor activities."
Jack nods. "Yeah, so perfect. Like, suspiciously perfect."
Luke elbows him again.
You squint at them, taking a slow sip of your coffee, watching as they all sit a little too still, looking a little too casual.
Something is definitely going on.
But before you can press further, Quinn suddenly steps forward, wraps an arm around your waist, and presses a kiss to your temple.
"Hey, didn’t you want to go into town today?" His voice is soft, his thumb rubbing soothing circles against your hip.
You blink up at him. "I mean, yeah, but—"
"Perfect," he says quickly. "You should go. Take your time. Enjoy yourself."
Jack and Luke nod in unison. "Yes. Enjoy. Take hours if you need."
Your eyes dart between them. They are terrible liars. But you sigh, deciding to let it go—for now.
"Fine," you say slowly, grabbing your bag. "But if I find out you guys are hiding something from me—"
"You won’t!" they all chorus at once.
You stare for another long beat before shaking your head and heading for the door.
As soon as it closes behind you, Quinn lets out a breath, running a hand through his hair.
Luke whistles. "That was way too close."
Jim chuckles. "You boys need to step up your game. She's sharp."
Quinn groans, rubbing his face. "I know. And we still have two more days of this."
Jack claps a hand on his shoulder. "Good luck, bud. You're gonna need it.
Two Days Before
The lake stretches out before you, calm and glassy under the moonlight. It’s late—too late to still be outside, but the warmth of summer lingers in the air, and neither of you wants to go in just yet.
You sit beside Quinn on the dock, your legs dangling over the edge, bare feet skimming the cool water. The night is quiet, save for the occasional chirp of crickets and the distant rustling of trees.
Quinn hasn’t said much in the last few minutes.
He sits close—so close that your shoulders press together, his warmth seeping into you. His hand is resting between you, his fingers twitching like he wants to reach for you but is too lost in thought to do it.
You nudge him gently. "Penny for your thoughts?"
He exhales, a soft, slow sound. "Just thinking."
You tilt your head, watching him. His profile is illuminated by the glow of the moon, sharp angles softened by the night. His jaw flexes, and his fingers tighten slightly against the dock.
"About what?"
He hesitates, then turns to you. "The future."
Your chest tightens, a warmth blooming there. "Yeah?"
"Yeah." His voice is quiet, thoughtful. "I was just thinking about... where we'll be, years from now." He swallows, his throat bobbing. "What it'll look like."
You smile, leaning into him. "And? What does it look like?"
He glances down at his hands. "Us," he says simply. "Still together. Maybe a house. Maybe a dog." His lips twitch. "You always talk about wanting a golden retriever."
Your heart stutters.
"You actually listen when I say that?"
His brow furrows. "Of course I do."
There’s something so earnest about the way he says it—so completely sure.
You take his hand in yours, threading your fingers together. "I like that version of the future," you say softly.
Quinn looks at you then, his eyes dark and unreadable, something heavy sitting behind them. For a second, you think he’s about to say something—something big.
But instead, he squeezes your hand.
"Me too."
He presses a lingering kiss to your knuckles, then rests his forehead against yours.
You close your eyes, breathing him in, feeling the steady thump-thump-thump of his heart.
Neither of you says anything else.
But Quinn’s already made up his mind.
Tomorrow, he finds the perfect spot.
And in two days, he asks you to be his forever.
One Day Before
The lake stretches endlessly before you, a shimmering expanse of deep blue beneath the warmth of the afternoon sun. A gentle breeze tugs at your hair, and the rhythmic rocking of the boat lulls you into a peaceful state. The water is calm, only disturbed by the occasional ripple from a passing jet ski or the soft lapping against the side of the boat.
You inhale deeply, letting the fresh air fill your lungs as you lean back against the cushioned seat. The warmth of the sun kisses your skin, and for the first time in a long while, you feel like time has slowed down.
Jim sits at the helm, hands steady on the wheel as he navigates through the open water. His expression is relaxed, a rare sight considering the chaos that usually follows whenever all three of his boys are together.
Ellen sits beside you, sunglasses perched on her nose, a soft smile on her lips as she watches the water shimmer.
“This is nice, isn’t it?” she muses, her voice light with contentment.
You nod, shifting slightly to soak in more of the sun. “Yeah, it really is.”
It’s not often that you get moments like this—just the three of you. Usually, Jack and Luke are wreaking havoc, Quinn is rolling his eyes fondly at their antics, and everything is a blur of chirps and laughter. But today is quiet. Peaceful.
You glance around the boat, taking in the emptiness where Quinn should be.
Your chest tightens slightly.
This morning, when you asked him if he was coming, he had been vague—mumbling something about needing to run an errand and promising he’d see you later. You hadn’t pushed, but now, with the afternoon stretching on without him, you can’t shake the feeling that something is off.
“You okay, sweetheart?” Ellen asks gently, tilting her head toward you.
You blink, realizing you had been staring at the empty seat beside you. Forcing a smile, you nod. “Yeah, just thinking.”
Ellen hums knowingly. “Quinn will be back soon, don’t worry. He’s probably just making sure whatever he’s doing is absolutely perfect.”
Jim chuckles from the driver’s seat. “Sounds about right.”
You frown slightly, narrowing your eyes. “Do you guys know something I don’t?”
Ellen and Jim exchange a quick glance, but Ellen’s smile doesn’t waver.
“Oh, honey,” she says, reaching over to pat your hand. “We always know something you don’t.”
You roll your eyes, laughing despite yourself.
The rest of the afternoon passes in a blur of warmth and comfort. You soak up every moment—the way the sun reflects off the water like scattered diamonds, the sound of Jim’s easy laughter, the way Ellen insists on reapplying sunscreen to your shoulders even though you swear you’re fine.
And for a little while, you let yourself forget the strange feeling in your chest.
Meanwhile, deep in the woods, Quinn is on a mission.
Your absence is a weight he feels in his chest, but he knows this is worth it.
His boots crunch against the forest floor as he makes his way through the secluded clearing he stumbled upon earlier. The air smells like pine and fresh earth, the quiet only disturbed by the rustling of leaves in the wind.
It’s perfect. Tucked away from the main trails, surrounded by towering trees, with a small opening where the lake peeks through.
This is it.
Carefully, he unrolls the string of photos he printed last week, each one capturing a frozen moment in time—the two of you at your first hockey game together, laughing with noses pressed close; a blurry snapshot of you mid-laugh, taken when you weren’t looking; a quiet moment in bed, tangled in the sheets with sunlight painting your skin.
Every single one tells your story.
His hands shake slightly as he fastens them to the branches, adjusting them until they drape just right.
“Dude, this is insanely romantic,” Jack mutters behind him.
Quinn steps back, hands on his hips as he surveys the clearing. The photos sway gently in the breeze, catching the fading sunlight. Everything is almost perfect.
Except for Jack, who is standing in the middle of the setup like he’d rather be anywhere else.
“This is so weird,” Jack complains, shifting uncomfortably. “I don’t know why I have to be her.”
Quinn sighs, rubbing his temples. “Because I need to make sure everything looks right, and you’re the closest to her height.”
“That’s actually so offensive,” Jack deadpans. “I don’t even know how, but it is.”
Luke snorts from behind the camera. “Just shut up and stand there, man. You’re ruining the vision.”
Jack groans dramatically but doesn’t move. “You owe me for this, dude. Big time.”
Quinn ignores him, stepping closer to adjust the positioning. He takes a deep breath, trying to picture you standing there instead of his little brother, who is doing a horrible job of being still.
“This is where I’ll kneel,” Quinn murmurs, mostly to himself. He drops down, testing the angle, the feel of the moment. His heart races, imagining the way you’ll look—eyes wide, lips parted in surprise, the way your breath will hitch right before you say yes.
Jack stares down at him, unimpressed. “I feel like I should be flattered, but mostly I feel like an idiot.”
Quinn huffs, looking up at him. “Can you at least pretend to be in love with me?”
Jack stares blankly for a second before bursting out laughing. “Dude. Dude. I cannot take this seriously.” He turns to Luke, who’s adjusting the camera settings. “Are you getting this? The absolute desperation in his eyes?”
Luke barely glances up. “You’re making it worse.”
“I’m making this worse?” Jack gestures at the setup. “Quinn is professing his undying love to me right now, and I’M the problem?”
Quinn groans, running a hand over his face. “Just shut up and look moved or something.”
Jack schools his expression into something vaguely serious and stares dramatically into the distance. “I can’t believe this is happening,” he says, voice overly soft. “We’ve been through so much together.”
Luke nearly drops the camera laughing. “Oh my god,” he wheezes.
Quinn pinches the bridge of his nose. “I hate both of you.”
Jack smirks, but he does settle down a little, standing a bit more still as Quinn makes the final adjustments.
After a few minutes of adjusting the lighting and the placement of the photos, Luke finally lifts the camera. “Alright, let’s get a test shot.”
Jack sighs dramatically but stays put. Quinn watches as Luke moves around, snapping photos from different angles. He frowns slightly, tilting the camera to check the preview.
“It looks good,” Luke says slowly, adjusting the focus. “But I think we need—Jack, stop standing like that.”
Jack scoffs. “Like what?”
“Like a dude who is about to ask another dude to prom,” Luke deadpans. “You look so uncomfortable.”
Jack throws his arms out. “Because I am uncomfortable! I am literally standing in the middle of a fake proposal, playing the role of my brother’s girlfriend.”
Quinn shakes his head. “Fine. Just—stand normal.”
Jack exhales sharply but follows instructions, his posture finally settling into something less stiff.
Luke snaps a few more photos before nodding. “Okay, that’s it. That’s the shot.”
Quinn steps back, taking in the clearing one last time. The photos, the lighting, the atmosphere—it’s all exactly how he pictured it. His heart pounds as he exhales, the reality of it hitting him all at once.
Tomorrow.
Tomorrow, you will be standing here.
Tomorrow, you will be the one in front of him when he kneels.
And tomorrow, you will say yes.
Jack claps him on the back, snapping him out of his thoughts. “Alright, Romeo. Can we go now? I have literally never felt more single in my life.”
Quinn rolls his eyes, but there’s a fondness behind it. “Yeah, we’re done.”
Luke stretches, shoving the camera back into his bag. “You better make this the best proposal of all time, bro. Because if we went through all of this for nothing—”
Quinn grins, confidence settling in his chest. “She’s gonna love it.”
Jack sighs dramatically. “You owe us.”
Quinn just laughs, already imagining how perfect tomorrow will be.
That night, you’re curled up in bed when Quinn finally slips into the room. The warmth of his body presses against yours as he slides beneath the covers, pulling you into his arms.
“You have fun today?” he murmurs, pressing a kiss to your shoulder.
“Mmm,” you hum, half-asleep. “Missed you.”
His chest tightens.
He buries his face in your hair, arms tightening around you. “Missed you too.”
You sigh softly, relaxing into him.
Quinn stays awake long after you drift off, heart thudding with anticipation.
One more night.
Tomorrow, everything changes.
Proposal Day
The morning sun filters through the kitchen windows, casting a golden glow over the lake house. The scent of fresh coffee lingers in the air as you lean against the counter, watching the Hughes family settle into their usual breakfast chaos.
Jack is the first to steal the last piece of toast off Luke’s plate, and Luke retaliates by flicking a grape at his forehead. Quinn sighs, stirring his coffee like he’s debating whether it’s worth intervening. Ellen is at the stove, flipping pancakes with practiced ease, while Jim nurses his coffee at the table, reading something on his phone.
Ellen turns toward you with a smile. “I was thinking,” she starts, “since everyone’s here, we should do a nice family dinner tonight.”
Luke perks up. “Ooh, like a fancy dinner? Do I have to wear a button-up?”
“Yes,” Ellen says firmly.
Jack groans dramatically. “Can I at least wear my nice hoodie?”
Jim barely looks up. “No.”
You laugh, shaking your head as you sip your coffee. “A dinner sounds nice.”
Ellen nods. “Good, because I already bought all the stuff.”
Quinn finally speaks, glancing at you. “You should wear that dress you got.”
You arch an eyebrow. “The one you definitely weren’t scheming to get me to buy?”
Jack and Luke both snicker, and Quinn glares at them before turning back to you, feigning innocence. “What? I just think you’d look really nice in it.”
Luke leans in conspiratorially. “You should do it. Mostly because if you don’t, Quinn will spend the entire dinner sulking and staring at you like a sad puppy.”
You roll your eyes, but a smile tugs at your lips. “Well, we wouldn’t want that, would we?”
Jack smirks. “Nope. That’s how we end up with emo Quinn, and nobody wants that.”
Quinn groans. “I hate all of you.”
Ellen hides a smile as she flips another pancake. “You love them,” she corrects.
Quinn sighs, shooting you a hopeful glance. “So, the dress?”
You shake your head, amused. “Fine. But if I do, Luke and Jack owe me dessert.”
Luke claps a hand over his heart. “Done.”
Jack nods. “Easiest deal of my life.”
Quinn smiles to himself, satisfied. One step closer.
Dinner starts out promising enough. The table is set, the food looks amazing, and the sunset paints the lake in warm hues. It should be perfect.
And then… things start to go sideways.
First, Luke—being Luke—tries to help bring the dishes to the table and nearly drops the salad bowl. In his panic to save it, he elbows Jack, who’s carrying a basket of rolls. The bread goes flying, one roll landing directly in Jim’s drink.
“Nice,” Jim mutters, plucking it out with a sigh.
Ellen shakes her head, clearly unimpressed but used to this kind of chaos. “Can we go one meal without something ending up on the floor?”
Jack, unfazed, shrugs. “Technically, it landed in Dad’s glass.”
You try to hold back a laugh as Quinn pulls out a chair for you, but the moment you sit, you realize something is… off. The seat wobbles, just enough to be noticeable, and before you can react, one of the legs gives way entirely.
“Shit—”
You barely manage to catch yourself before fully hitting the ground. Quinn moves fast, steadying you before you can completely fall, but the damage is done. Luke is doubled over laughing, and Jack is wheezing so hard he can’t breathe.
“I—” Jack tries, but he’s laughing too hard to finish. “I swear—we didn’t—touch—that chair—”
Quinn glares at them before looking at you. “You okay?”
“Yeah,” you say, face burning as you straighten up. “Just my pride taking a hit.”
Ellen sighs. “That chair was wobbly this morning. I told you boys to fix it.”
Jack wipes a tear from his eye. “Well, now we know it was definitely broken.”
Dinner resumes, and for a few blessed minutes, everything is normal. The conversation flows, the food is delicious, and you almost forget about the earlier chaos.
Until Luke, in all his wisdom, decides he needs more steak sauce. He reaches across the table, miscalculating just how close his elbow is to your glass of wine.
The second the glass tips, it’s over.
Red wine splashes everywhere—your dress, the table, Quinn’s sleeve.
“Oh my God,” you exclaim, pushing back from the table as the cold liquid soaks into the fabric.
Luke freezes. “Oh—oh, shit. Oh, no—”
Ellen is already up, grabbing napkins. “Luke.” Her voice is the kind of exasperated that only comes from years of dealing with sons who can’t sit still. “Seriously?”
“I didn’t mean to!” Luke looks at you with pure panic. “I—I can fix this—”
Jack leans back, shaking his head. “Man, you just ruined her dress.”
“I know!” Luke groans, looking like he genuinely feels terrible. “I’ll—uh—I’ll pay for the dry cleaning.”
Quinn, who’s been silent through all of this, takes one look at you and then turns to Luke with the calmest voice imaginable.
“Get up.”
Luke blinks. “What?”
“Get. Up.”
There’s a long pause before Luke, sensing the very real possibility of Quinn throwing him into the lake, slowly pushes his chair back and stands.
Quinn doesn’t hesitate—he grabs Luke’s napkin and dabs at your dress, his brows furrowed in frustration. “I told you not to sit next to her.”
Luke throws his hands up. “How is this my fault?!”
Ellen sighs again. “Alright, alright, it’s just a little wine.” She turns to you. “Honey, let’s go see if we can salvage your dress.”
You follow her inside, but despite her best efforts, the stain refuses to come out.
You sigh, looking at Ellen through the mirror. “Ellen, I think it’s unsalvageable.”
She looks up at you, guilt evident on her face. “I’m so sorry, honey.”
You shake your head with a small smile. “It’s fine, really.”
When you return downstairs, Luke looks like a kicked puppy, eyes glued to the floor. Quinn scans your dress, his jaw tightening.
“Goddammit, Luke,” Quinn mutters.
You step beside him, nudging Luke lightly with your foot. “It’s fine, really,” you say softly.
Quinn exhales, rubbing his jaw before looking at you. “Come on. Let’s go for a walk.”
You blink at him. “Right now?”
“Yeah,” he says, his voice quieter now, more certain. “Right now.”
You hesitate, then nod. “Okay.”
The night air is crisp, carrying the scent of pine and the lingering warmth of the lake. The sound of crickets hums in the background as you and Quinn walk in comfortable silence, his fingers laced through yours. The chaos of dinner fades into the background, replaced by the rhythmic crunch of gravel beneath your feet.
“You okay?” you ask softly, glancing up at him.
Quinn exhales through his nose, a small smile tugging at his lips. “Yeah. Just… today didn’t go exactly how I planned.”
You squeeze his hand. “You had a plan?”
His smile grows slightly. “Believe it or not, yeah. Kind of.”
You smirk. “Well, that was your first mistake.”
He huffs a quiet laugh. “Tell me about it.”
You keep walking, but the farther you go, the more familiar the path becomes. It’s only when the trees thin, revealing a quiet clearing, that you realize where he’s leading you. Your steps slow as you take it in.
Strung between the branches, illuminated by the soft glow of the moon and the fairy lights Quinn must have set up earlier, are dozens of photos—memories captured and preserved in time.
Your breath catches as you step forward, reaching out to gently touch one of them. It’s a picture from your first hockey game together, noses nearly pressed together as you grinned at the camera. Another of you mid-laugh, eyes crinkled with joy. One from a lazy morning in bed, sunlight spilling across your tangled limbs.
Every single one tells your story.
You turn back to Quinn, your chest tight with emotion. “You did all this?”
He nods, rubbing the back of his neck. “Yeah. I—I wanted you to see what I see. Every time I look at you, it’s just… it’s all of this. Every moment, every memory, everything that makes us, us.”
Your eyes burn with unshed tears.
“I wanted everything to be perfect,” he continues, voice quiet but steady. “I had this whole idea in my head—this big, perfect moment. The dinner, the dress, the way tonight was supposed to go.” He shakes his head, laughing under his breath. “And then Luke knocked wine all over you, and Jack wouldn’t stop chirping, and everything kind of fell apart.”
You smile, tilting your head. “Sounds about right.”
Quinn looks at you, his blue eyes searching yours. “Yeah. But then I realized… this is perfect.” He lets out a small, breathy laugh, almost like he’s realizing it in real time. “The chaos, the interruptions, the fact that nothing ever goes exactly how we plan it. That’s us. That’s our life.”
Your breath catches slightly.
He takes a deep breath, then lets go of one of your hands, reaching into his pocket. And suddenly, he’s kneeling before you, a small velvet box in his palm, slightly illuminated by the moonlight.
“I don’t need the perfect moment,” he says, looking up at you. “I just need you.”
Your heart pounds, your vision blurring as you try to take in everything at once—the way he’s looking at you, the way his fingers tremble just slightly around the box, the way the entire world feels like it’s tilting on its axis.
“Marry me?” he asks, voice soft but sure.
You let out a shaky breath, a laugh breaking through the tears already forming in your eyes. “Quinn, of course I’ll marry you.”
A breath of relief escapes him before he grins—grins in that rare, open way he only does when he’s truly happy. He stands quickly, slipping the ring onto your finger before wrapping his arms around you, holding you close.
You bury your face in his shoulder, laughing through your tears. “God, I love you.”
His grip tightens around you, his voice warm against your ear. “Love you more.”
By the time you and Quinn make it back, hand in hand, the Hughes family is waiting—Jack and Luke perched on the couch, Jim leaning against the counter, and Ellen practically bouncing in place.
Jack spots the ring first. “Oh my god—”
Ellen claps her hands together, her eyes shining. “You said yes?”
You hold up your hand, and the room erupts.
Jack groans dramatically, flopping back onto the couch. “I can’t believe this. Quinn won at life.”
Jim claps Quinn on the shoulder with a proud nod, and Ellen pulls you into a tight hug, murmuring how happy she is for you both.
Luke hangs back, hands shoved in his pockets, his eyes darting toward you before dropping to the floor. His face is tight, like he’s been debating something in his head.
You don’t give him the chance to overthink it. Without a word, you step toward him and wrap your arms around his shoulders, pulling him into a hug.
Luke stiffens in surprise before slowly relaxing, exhaling a breath. “I—I really didn’t mean to ruin your dress,” he mumbles, voice small.
You smile against his shoulder. “I know, Luke. It’s just a dress.”
He hesitates before hugging you back, his grip a little tight, like he’s still worried about the whole thing. “I felt really bad.”
You pull back just enough to look at him. “Well, you can make it up to me by giving a really good speech at the wedding.”
His eyes widen. “Wait—I can do a speech?”
Quinn sighs, but there’s no real annoyance behind it. “I never said that.”
Luke smirks. “You didn’t have to.”
Jack groans. “Oh god, this is gonna be unbearable.”
Quinn shakes his head, pulling you back to his side. “I should’ve proposed in private,” he mutters under his breath.
You laugh, squeezing his hand. “Nah. This is perfect.”
And as the Hughes family falls into their usual rhythm of chirps and laughter, as Quinn’s hand tightens around yours, you know that nothing—no chaos, no spilled wine, no wobbly chairs—could have made this moment any better.

Lewis
You were at a quaint bookstore in London, browsing through the latest bestsellers. Lewis was busy with a media event, so you decided to take some time to yourself. While searching the shelves, a charming young man approached you, striking up a conversation about the book you were holding.
"So, are you a Ana Huang fan?" he asked, flashing a friendly smile.
You smiled back, appreciating the casual conversation. "Yes, I love her Twisted series! Currently reading book 2."
"That's one of the best books!" he said, inching closer. "I can definitely recommend some more books similar to hers! Maybe if I could get-"
Unbeknownst to you, Lewis had wrapped up his event early and decided to surprise you. He walked into the bookstore just as you were chatting with the stranger. He immediately noticed the man's enthusiastic gestures and your engaged expression. His protective instincts kicked in.
He approached with a confident stride, sliding an arm around your waist. "Hey, babe. Who's your friend?" Lewis's tone was polite, but his eyes were intense.
"Oh, Lewis! This is Tom, we were just talking about The Twisted Series!" you said, trying to ease the tension.
Tom extended his hand, but Lewis's grip on your waist tightened slightly. "Nice to meet you, Tom. I'm Lewis."
Tom picked up on the vibe and quickly made his exit. "Nice to meet you too. I'll let you two enjoy your day."
As Tom walked away, you turned to Lewis, raising an eyebrow. "Is that a hint of jealousy I detect?"
Lewis chuckled, relaxing his hold. "Maybe a little. Can you blame me? He was cleary interested."
You kissed his cheek, reassured by his protectiveness. "You’re cute when you get like this, you know you're the only one for me."
Max
You were at a trendy bar in Monaco with some friends, celebrating your  movie premiere. Max was racing that weekend, so you hadn't expected to see him. While chatting at the bar, a guy approached you, complimenting your dress.
"That dress looks amazing on you," he said smoothly.
"Thanks," you replied, smiling politely.
Max, who had finished his practice session early, decided to surprise you. He walked into the bar and immediately spotted you talking to the stranger. His mood darkened as he saw the guy leaning in closer to you.
Max wasted no time, walking straight over and placing a possessive hand on your lower back. "Hey, schatje. Who's this?"
You turned, surprised and delighted to see him. "Max! This is Jason. He just complimented me on my dress."
Jason, sensing the tension, took a step back. "Nice to meet you, Max. You look beautiful Y/N, nice talking to you."
Max nodded curtly, watching Jason leave before turning his attention back to you. "What was that about?"
"Just a compliment," you said, smiling. "Why are you jealous?"
Max pulled you into a deep kiss, making sure everyone in the bar knew you were his. "No."
You laughed, hugging him tightly. "Yes you are, but it’s okay, I like when you get jealous. Besides you're the only one I want, Maxie."
Charles
You were at the university library, studying for an upcoming exam. Charles was away for a race, so you decided to focus on your studies. A fellow classmate approached you, asking if he could join you at your table.
"Sure," you said, moving your books to make space.
The two of you started discussing your coursework, but the conversation soon shifted to more personal topics. Just as the guy was about to ask you out for coffee, Charles walked in. He had flown back earlier than expected to surprise you.
He saw you laughing with the guy and felt a pang of jealousy. Charles walked over, his presence commanding immediate attention. "Hey, love. Mind if I join you?"
You looked up, surprised and thrilled. "Charles! Of course, sit down. This is Peter, we were just studying."
Peter quickly excused himself, sensing the unspoken tension. "I'll see you around, Y/N."
As Peter left, Charles took his seat beside you, his arm draped protectively over your shoulders. "Who was that?"
"Just a classmate," you said, amused by his reaction. "Jealous much?"
Charles sighed, pulling you closer. "Maybe. But I have every right to be, I mean look at you, you're gorgeous. Any person with common sense would want you."
You kissed his cheek, whispering, "You're adorable, Char! You never have to worry about that. Trust me, you're the only one I want."
Oscar
You were at a cozy café in Melbourne, waiting for your boyfriend. He had a busy schedule, but you managed to find time for a quick coffee date. While waiting, a guy at the next table struck up a conversation.
"Do you come here often?" he asked, clearly interested.
"Not really, just waiting for someone," you replied, hoping he would take the hint.
He leaned in a bit closer, a confident smile on his face. "Well, maybe while you wait, we could get to know each other better."
Oscar walked in at that moment, his eyes narrowing as he saw the guy leaning in closer to you as he spoke. He walked over, wrapping an arm around your shoulders. "Hey, baby. Ready to go?"
The guy quickly backed off, realizing he was intruding. "Oh, I'll leave you two to it," he said, standing up and walking away.
Oscar watched him go before turning to you. "Who was that?"
"I don’t know, just some random guy," you said, smiling up at him. "You feeling okay? You look a little red?"
Oscar shakes his head, “Yeah, yeah, I’m fine.” Looking at him you say, “You sure it’s not because you got a little jealous?”
Oscar chuckled, pressing a kiss to your forehead. "Maybe a little. I just can't stand the thought of anyone else getting your attention."
You hugged him tightly, giving him a short kiss. "You just have to get used to having a very attractive girlfriend baby."
“I guess I do.” he says cheekily wrapping his arm around your waist as you guys walk out.
Carlos
You were in the pit lane, watching the preparations for the upcoming race. Carlos was busy with the team, so you decided to explore the area. A fellow fan, noticing your VIP pass, struck up a conversation.
"Are you here for the race?" he asked, clearly impressed by your pass.
"Yes, I'm here with my boyfriend," you replied, trying to be polite but distant.
"That's great," he said, undeterred by the mention of your boyfriend. "Is this your first time attending, or are you a regular?"
"Regular." you responded, hoping the conversation would end soon.
"Oh, so your boyfriend's rich, huh?" he remarked with a smirk.
"Uh, sure…yeah," you replied, taken aback and uncomfortable with his comment.
Carlos, having finished his briefing, spotted you talking to the guy. His protective instincts flared up as he saw him getting a bit too friendly.
He walked over, slipping an arm around your waist. "Hey, cariño. Everything okay?"
The guy quickly stepped back, realizing who Carlos was. "Oh, hey, big fan. Just talking about the race."
Carlos nodded curtly, his grip on your waist firm. "Enjoy the race."
As the fan walked away, you turned to Carlos, smiling. "Thanks for the save."
"No problem," he replied, his expression softening.
"You know, I love how protective you are," you said, leaning into him. "And maybe when you get jealous just a little. It's cute."
He chuckled, brushing a strand of hair from your face. "Lets go get some food, cariño."
Lando
You were at a gaming convention, enjoying the various booths and activities. Lando was busy with a panel discussion, so you decided to explore. A fellow gamer struck up a conversation, discussing the latest games.
"Have you tried the new VR game?" he asked, clearly excited.
"Not yet, but it looks amazing," you replied, sharing his enthusiasm.
"Yeah, it's fantastic," he said, his eyes lighting up. "I wouldn't mind showing a beautiful girl like you how to use it sometime. It'd be fun."
Lando, having finished his panel, spotted you chatting with the gamer. Jealousy panned over him as he saw the guy flirting with you.
He walked over, slipping an arm around your waist. "Hey baby! What are we talking about?"
The gamer quickly felt the energy shift. "Just talking about the new VR game."
Lando nodded, his grip on your waist firm. "Cool."
As the gamer walked away, you turned to Lando, raising an eyebrow. "Really?"
Lando sighed, pulling you closer. "What?! It’s not my fault he was interested in my girlfriend."
You smiled, kissing his cheek. "Key word in that sentence is “my girlfriend”."
Sebastian
You were attending a charity event, mingling with various guests. Sebastian was busy with the organizers, so you decided to socialize. A charming gentleman approached you, engaging you in a lively conversation about the event.
"It's great to see so many people supporting this cause," he said, smiling.
"Absolutely," you replied, enjoying the conversation.
He leaned in a little closer, his tone becoming more personal. "Especially when someone as beautiful as you is here."
You smile nervously, not expecting his direct approach. "Oh, thank you," you responded, trying to look around and grab Seb’s attention.
Sebastian, having finished his duties, spotted you talking to the guy, looking around. He saw the man getting too friendly and walked over to you.
He walked over, slipping an arm around your waist. "Hey, honey. Would you like a drink? Oh! Who's this?"
The gentleman quickly realized he was intruding. "Just talking about the event."
Sebastian nodded, his grip on your waist firm. "Enjoy the evening then."
As the man walked away, you turned to Sebastian, raising an eyebrow. "I love when you get protective, it’s hot, the jealousy too."
Sebastian smirked, pulling you closer. "Jealous? Me?! Don’t know what you’re talking about."
You smiled, kissing his cheek. "Mhmm, yea, yea. Let’s get my drink."
Jenson
You were attending an award ceremony, mingling with various celebrities. Jenson was busy with interviews, so you decided to socialize. A charming actor approached you, engaging you in a lively conversation about the a.
"It's great to see so many talented people here," he said, smiling.
"Agreed," you replied, engaging in the conversation."All nominees this year were very talented and impressive."
He nodded thoughtfully, then leaned in a little closer, his gaze lingering on you. "Speaking of impressive, I couldn't help but notice how stunning you look tonight."
You chuckled softly, flattered but unsure how to respond. "Thank you, that's very kind of you."
He grinned charmingly. "So, are you here with anyone special tonight?"
Jenson spotted you talking to the guy. And started to walk towards you.
He walked over, slipping an arm around your waist. "Hey, baby. Who's this?"
The actor quickly realized you were taken. "Just talking about the event."
Jenson nodded, his grip on your waist firm. "Yea, it’s a nice thing."
As the man walked away, you turned to Jenson, raising an eyebrow. "Nice thing?"
Jenson sighed, pulling you closer so he can squeezing your waist. "Didn’t know what to say without being rude so that's what came to my mind."
You smiled and kissed him gently. "Let’s go check out the catering at this 'nice thing'."
Daniel
You were exploring a quaint art gallery in Paris, enjoying the serene atmosphere and the beauty of the artwork on display. Daniel had left his phone in the car, leaving you to appreciate the art alone. As you admired a painting, a friendly gallery assistant approached, eager to discuss the artist's work.
"This piece here is quite exceptional," he said, gesturing towards a vivid abstract painting. "It really captures the essence of movement and emotion."
"It truly does," you replied, appreciating his enthusiasm. "The color blending and stippling is beautiful."
He smiled warmly. "You have a keen eye for art. Beautiful art for a beautiful girl."
"Oh, thank you," you said, trying to show no interest.
Daniel walked into the gallery, He approached, slipping an arm around your waist. "Hey, baby. Finding any new favorites?"
The gallery assistant reacted quickly to Daniel's presence and backed away. "Just discussing the beautiful artwork," he explained.
Daniel nodded casually. "Thanks for your insights, but we're good here."
As the gallery assistant politely excused himself, you turned to Daniel with a playful smirk. "Oh, someoness jealouss?"
Daniel chuckled softly, pulling you closer. "No, no. Protective, yes. Jealous, could never be me."
You smiled, leaning in to kiss his cheek. "Mhm hm, if you say so."

PR disaster
Hey guyss, I hope you enjoy this one-shot. Franco is one of my favourite drivers so it was time that I wrote something for him :)
Tumblr media
From the moment Y/N was hired as Williams' new PR manager, she knew the job wouldn’t be easy, especially with Logan's departure. Managing a driver's exit was never simple, and controlling the public narrative seemed like her biggest concern. However, she quickly realized that her true challenge came in the form of Franco, the young talent who had taken Logan’s place in the team.
Franco wasn’t just an exceptional driver; he was a whirlwind of energy and charisma. For the fans and the press, he was a breath of fresh air, full of charm and wit. But for Y/N, he was a constant source of headaches. Whether he was flirting with journalists, posting cheeky comments on social media, or creating unnecessary drama, it always ended with her cleaning up the mess.
"Y/N, did you see his latest post?" One of her assistants burst into her office, waving a tablet in the air. Another post. Another reckless comment from Franco.
Y/N groaned. Of course, he couldn’t help himself. She had spent the last week trying to reign him in, explaining time and time again that his social media presence needed to be professional, not a flirt-fest with every reporter and fan that interacted with him.
"This needs to stop," she muttered to herself, standing up from her desk. She stormed through the paddock, her frustration building with every step.
When she found Franco lounging near the team garage, chatting up a group of reporters—no surprise there—she called his name sharply.
"Franco. A word." Her tone left no room for argument.
He flashed his signature grin, excusing himself from the conversation and strolling over to her. "Hey, jefa," he said casually, as if nothing was wrong. "What’s up?"
(Hey, boss)
“What’s up?” she repeated, her voice laced with exasperation. “You’re what’s up. I just had to deal with your latest ‘incident’ on social media—again.”
Franco shrugged, leaning against the wall with an easy confidence that only made her more irritated. "Ah, it was just a little fun. People like it when I’m myself."
Y/N crossed her arms. “Flirting with journalists isn’t being yourself, it’s being reckless. You need to tone it down. This is a professional environment, not… whatever you think it is.”
He raised an eyebrow, his playful demeanour never faltering. "¿Estás diciendo que no te gusta que sea encantador? No puedo evitarlo si soy irresistible." (¿Are you saying that you don't like that I'm charming? I can't help it if I'm irresistible.)
Y/N frowned, her Spanish rusty but enough to pick up on something. "What?"
Franco grinned wider, sensing an opportunity. "Nada, nada," he said, though his eyes sparkled with mischief. "You know, maybe you should try smiling more. You’re always so… serious." He tilted his head, looking her up and down in a way that made her feel like he was studying her every reaction. "Me gusta más cuando te ríes… tienes una sonrisa preciosa, ¿sabes?" (Nothing, nothing) (I like it better when you laugh … you have a beautiful smile ¿you know?)
Her brow furrowed. Okay, that part she definitely understood, and it only made her more determined to get her point across. “This isn’t about me, Franco. This is about you being impossible to manage.”
He leaned closer, his tone dropping just slightly, enough to make her feel the warmth of his presence. "¿Imposible? No, jefa. Imposible sería si intentaras resistirte a mis encantos. Aunque… lo estás haciendo muy bien." (¿Impossible? No, boss. Impossible would be if you tried to resist my charm. Even… if you are doing it well)
She blinked, caught off guard by the sudden shift in his tone. “What did you just say?”
Franco simply smiled, his eyes dancing with amusement. “You know, if you want me to be more ‘professional,’ we could… work out an agreement.”
“An agreement?” she asked, wary of where this was going.
He nodded, stepping just a little too close for comfort. “Sí. I’ll behave. No more trouble. But… on one condition.”
Y/N narrowed her eyes. “And what’s that?”
Franco’s grin turned almost predatory, though still playful. “You go on a date with me.”
Her jaw dropped. "A date?"
"Sí, una cita. You know, dinner, maybe some wine… you can lecture me all you want. But I think you’ll find I’m much better behaved when you get to know me… fuera del trabajo." (Yes, a date) (… out of work)
Y/N could feel her face heating up, partly from the absurdity of the situation and partly because Franco’s intense gaze was starting to get to her. “You’re joking.”
Franco tilted his head, eyes sparkling. “¿Parezco que estoy bromeando, jefa?” (¿Does it look like I'm joking, boss?)
Y/N stared at him, her mind racing. There was no way he could be serious. This was just another one of his games, another flirtatious comment that she needed to brush off. But as Franco stood there, grinning like the cat that got the cream, she realized he wasn’t backing down. His eyes were locked on hers, waiting, full of that infuriating confidence.
“Absolutely not,” she snapped, turning on her heel to walk away. But as she took a step, Franco called after her.
"Well, I guess I’ll just keep doing what I’m doing then… Maybe tweet a little something extra for the fans later."
She froze, clenching her fists at her sides. This man was impossible. She could already picture the chaos his next social media stunt would cause. The endless calls, the damage control, the headaches…
Y/N spun back around to face him. “Fine,” she blurted out, her voice filled with frustration. “You want a date? You’ll get your stupid date. But only if you promise—promise—to behave.”
Franco’s grin widened, looking almost triumphant. "¡Perfecto! I knew you couldn’t resist." (¡Perfect!)
She narrowed her eyes at him, crossing her arms. “This isn’t about ‘resisting,’ it’s about making sure you don’t ruin the team’s reputation. One dinner, and you tone it all down.”
Franco nodded, still smiling like she’d just handed him the world on a silver platter. "You won’t regret it, jefa. I’ll be a perfect gentleman." (boss)
Y/N scoffed, turning away once more. “Yeah, we’ll see about that.”
As she began walking back to her office, she could hear Franco’s voice calling after her, his tone teasing and undeniably smug. "No te preocupes, jefa. I’ll be on my best behaviour… unless you want me to misbehave a little." (Don't worry boss.)
She rolled her eyes but couldn’t stop the small, almost begrudging smile that tugged at the corners of her lips. Franco was trouble, and she knew it. But for some reason, as infuriating as he was, she couldn’t help but feel a spark of something… interesting.
Grumpy or not, she’d agreed to the date. And she had a feeling this was only the beginning of whatever madness Franco had in store for her.
Here's part 2

💌★ ͘ ⴰ ever since dream academy the general public took notice of the tension between sophia and yn and not the good kind, it was obvious the two weren’t the biggest fans of each other and even more obvious when people watched pop star academy, so it leaves people wondering how they went from not even hiding their dislike for each other to being the most shipped in the group?

➩ INTRO… 📼(when almost everyone in dream academy had sophia in their lineup… and then there’s yn)
yn tilted her head in thought, tapping her fingers against her chin as if solving a world shattering puzzle. “okay, definitely lara,” she began confidently, nodding as if solidifying her decision. “then daniela... megan... lexie…” she paused, a sheepish laugh escaping her lips. “wait, am I just naming all the powerhouses right now?” (the audacity bffr yn.)
“nayoung, for sure… uh…” she trailed off, her brow furrowing before she suddenly snapped her fingers, her face lighting up. “oh! and manon. my girl, obviously.”
➩ INTRO… 2 📼(the infamous “maybe you’re just early every time”)
sophia and yn are standing side by side during practice, reviewing choreography. Sophia’s expression is calm but clearly exasperated. “yn, you’re late on the turn every time,” she says, her voice cutting but controlled.
yn nodded her head and turned around to get back in position before muttering “maybe you’re just early every time,” as quietly as possible but camera still picked up on it.
➩ INTRO… 3 📼(yn leaving sophia on read)

lara: hey guys, can we finalize vocals by tonight?
yn: yup!
sophia: sure, I just sent the arrangement notes to yn. yn let me know if it works.
lara: yn?
➩ INTRO… 3 📼(when they both showed up late…)
everyone was warming up when sophia walked in first, looking frazzled. moments later, yn strolled in casually, earning a sharp glare from Sophia.
“you’re late,” sophia pointed out.
“so are you,” yn countered, raising an eyebrow.
— AFTER DEBUT
➩ CLIP #1 PLAYING… 📼 (sophia and yn during rehearsal 🤭)
the camera zooms in as the members are stretching and warming up for their upcoming choreography session.
in the background, yn and sophia are standing close by, both practicing their formations.
yn reaches up to adjust her hair, and in that moment, her hand brushes against sophia’s. at first, sophia pulls back sharply, her gaze flicking towards yn with a flicker of surprise. but yn doesn’t make a big deal of it, instead casually continuing to adjust her position.
sophia hesitates for a moment, then subtly places her hand back on yn’s lower back to guide her into position.
➩ CLIP #2 PLAYING… 📼 (when sophia looked for yn after their first show)
the clip cuts to backstage where the members are all celebrating their first successful performance. Sophia walks past the members of the group, clearly scanning the area.
“has anyone seen yn?” she asks, her tone just a little softer than usual.
lara and daniela exchange a glance before lara shrugs. “she was just with megan, I think. why?”
sophia shrugs before she walks off in the direction they pointed. the camera follows her for a moment, and as she turns the corner, she finds yn sitting quietly, already taking off her stage makeup.
“hey,” Sophia says, her voice softer now. yn looks up, surprised but not annoyed.
“you okay?” Sophia asks again, sitting down beside her.
yn nods slowly, her eyes meeting sophia’s “yeah I’m just tired.” she mumbled before looking at the camera, “I can’t wait to nap in the car.” she says to it.
sophia watches her for a moment, “okay well, hurry up so you can sleep.”
➩ CLIP #3 PLAYING… 📼 (when yn got sophia extremely flustered)
the camera stilled on katseye as the girls stood together at a festival, watching the performance unfolding in front of them. the energy was electric, but yn’s attention shifted slightly to sophia, who was sitting beside her, intently watching the stage.
yn leaned in, her lips dangerously close to sophia ear as she whispered something. sophia barely registered at first, distracted by the booming music around them. she turned her head slightly, her face now directly in line with yn’s, and was startled at how close yn’s face had gotten.
sophia flinched back, her cheeks instantly flushing, and covered her face with her hand, the camera couldn’t pick up on what sophia was saying but they could tell she definitely said something along the lines of “what the hell, yn?”
yn, laughing softly, leaned her head onto sophia’s shoulder, her cheek brushing against it as she continued to chuckle at the flustered girl beside her.
➩ CLIP #4 PLAYING… 📼 (no words just this moment)
after a performance, the girls were walking out of the venue, chatting and laughing as they made their way to the van. sophia casually draped her arm around yn’s shoulder, she looked at yn and whispered something.
before yn could respond, megan suddenly pulled her away, waving enthusiastically at a fan and dragged her towards the van.

I’m Not Jealous!
Lando Norris x Reader
Summary: you’re definitely not jealous of how your boyfriend and his teammate are eye-fucking each other … nope
Note: thank you to the brilliant @struggling-with-drivers for this amazing idea, I love you so much ❤️
Tumblr media
You can’t take your eyes off Lando and Oscar as they chat animatedly in the McLaren motorhome after qualifying. The way they lean towards each other, the spark of energy crackling between them, the bright gleam in their eyes — it makes your chest tighten with a strange jealousy.
They’re so wrapped up in their conversation, casually touching each other’s arms for emphasis, that they don’t even notice you approaching. You clear your throat pointedly.
“Oh, hey babe!” Lando glances up with a warm smile that doesn’t quite reach his eyes. He’s still buzzing from the adrenaline of the session, and you know how much he lives for these intense post-qualifying debriefs with his teammate.
Oscar throws you an acknowledging nod but doesn’t break his intense eye contact with Lando. “We were just going over the data from ...”
You cut him off with an impatient wave of your hand. “I don’t care about the data. Can I talk to my boyfriend for two seconds?”
Lando blinks in surprise at your curt tone but recovers quickly with a teasing grin. “Someone’s feeling jealous.” He slides an arm around your waist, pulling you against his side with a gentle squeeze.
You stiffen, hating how easily he can read you sometimes. “I am not jealous.”
“Uh huh, sure.” Lando rolls his eyes good-naturedly. “Then why are you pouting like a petulant child?”
“I’m not pouting!” You protest, very much aware that your lower lip has surged into an exaggerated protrusion. You shoot Oscar a venomous glare when he fails to stifle a snort of laughter.
Lando laughs too, that bright, infectious giggle that somehow simultaneously melts and irritates you. “Aww, baby, you don’t have to be jealous of Oscar. We both have girlfriends, remember? You’re my one and only.”
He kisses your cheek with an audible smacking sound, as if to emphasize his point. But the reassurance doesn’t land — if anything, it makes you more prickly.
“Doesn’t feel like it when you two are constantly eye-fucking each other,” you grumble petulantly.
Lando blinks, his smile faltering briefly into an almost comically exaggerated expression of surprise. Then he exchanges a loaded glance with Oscar, the two of them breaking into wide grins.
“What?” You demand, feeling your cheeks flush hot with embarrassment and irritation. Did you really just say that out loud?
“Nothing, nothing,” Lando says quickly, still grinning wolfishly. “It’s just … eye-fucking, huh? Is that what you think we’re doing?”
“Well it certainly looks like it!” You retort, frantically trying to backpedal. “With all the intense staring and lingering touches and private jokes ...”
Lando’s grin stretches even wider, if that’s possible. “You’re just jealous because you want my undivided attention, aren’t you?”
Your mouth drops open, scandalized by his blunt words despite how accurate they are. “I … no!”
The protest rings pathetically hollow, even to your own ears. Lando sees right through you, as always. He cups your burning cheek, tsking softly.
“Aww, baby, you’re all needy and flustered now, aren’t you?” His tone is warm, almost purred, sending a shiver rippling through you. “It’s okay, I get it. Who could resist wanting every second of my time?”
You huff out a petulant breath, but it’s impossible to stay irritated when he’s gazing at you with such open affection. “You’re an ass.”
“Maybe.” Lando shrugs cheerfully. “But I’m your ass.” He leans in until his lips are brushing your ear, voice dropping to a hushed murmur. “And tonight, I’ll be giving you every second of my undivided attention.”
A full-body shiver races through you at the heated promise in his tone. You’re abruptly, acutely aware of Oscar watching this whole exchange with a smirk.
“Get a room, you two,” he drawls, not even trying to hide his amusement.
Lando barks out a laugh, pulling back just enough to wink roguishly at you. “Don’t mind if we do.”
“Wait, here? Now?” You squeak out, suddenly flustered all over again as he takes your hand and starts tugging you toward the back of the motorhome.
“Why not?” Lando flashes you a cheeky grin over his shoulder. “I told you, baby — I’m all yours tonight. No more sharing me with anyone else. Just you and me.”
He pauses with his hand on the doorknob to the private room, giving you a slow once-over that makes your skin prickle with delicious heat.
“And I plan to give you my complete … undivided … attention.”
The husky emphasis he puts on those last few words sends a shiver of anticipation down your spine. You can’t resist stealing a quick glance over at Oscar, who has the decency to look away with a badly concealed smirk.
Then Lando is hauling you through the door and slamming it shut behind you, pressing you up against it as his mouth instantly finds yours in a searing kiss. You melt against him with a breathless moan, all thoughts of jealousy evaporating like mist as his hands roam hungrily over your body.
When you finally break for air, Lando’s eyes are dark with a blazing intensity usually reserved for the racetrack. He brushes a few stray strands of hair from your flushed face with uncharacteristic tenderness.
“You have nothing to be jealous of, you know,” he murmurs gruffly. “Oscar’s my teammate, my rival, almost like a brother to me … but you’re the love of my life. You’ll always come first.”
The raw sincerity in his words steals your breath. You can only nod mutely, suddenly blinking back stupid, overwhelming tears of relief and adoration.
Lando seems to understand. He just smiles that heart-melting smile and guides you toward the small sofa, settling you onto his lap and burying his face in the crook of your neck. His arms wrap snugly around you, holding you close, making you feel deliciously secure and wanted.
“I’m sorry I got jealous and petty,” you mumble, tentatively running your fingers through his sweat-damp curls. “I know how intense your connection with Oscar is on the track. I was just being stupid ...”
“No, no.” Lando cuts you off firmly, pulling back to meet your gaze. “Your feelings are never stupid, baby. If I made you feel like you had to compete for my attention, that’s on me.”
He punctuates his words with a soft, lingering kiss that deepens into something hungrier and needier when you clutch at the back of his neck, wanting him closer, closer ...
Some indeterminable time later, you reluctantly break apart, foreheads pressed together as you both pant for breath. Lando brushes his nose against yours, his eyes practically glowing with devotion.
“I really do love you, you know,” he murmurs, almost shyly. As if he hasn’t already made that abundantly clear a million times over. “More than anything. Or anyone.”
You hum contentedly, snuggling deeper into his embrace. You can feel the steadiness of his heartbeat, a reassuring counterpoint to the pleasant ache of desire still thrumming through your veins.
“I know. And I love you too.” You pause, tracing the line of his jaw tenderly. “Even when I’m being jealous and ridiculous.”
Lando throws his head back with a rich peal of laughter that warms you all the way to your toes.
“Good thing I love you even more when you’re being jealous and ridiculous, then,” he quips, sticking his tongue out impishly.
You swat at his shoulder with a scowl that quickly melts into a reluctant grin, unable to stay annoyed in the face of his boyish charm and unabashed affection.
You know, deep down, that you really don’t have anything to be jealous of — not with the way Lando holds you close and gazes at you like you’re the only person in the world. Still, it’s reassuring having the confirmation out in the open.
You snuggle deeper into his chest, basking in the comfortable silence and closeness. Lando’s fingers idly trace patterns across your back as you breathe in the familiar scent of his cologne mixed with the sharp tang of adrenaline.
“I don’t know what I’d do without you,” he murmurs eventually, breaking the peaceful quiet. There’s a rare vulnerability in his voice that makes your heart squeeze. “This life … the racing, the fame, the constant pressure … it would all be meaningless if I didn’t have you by my side.”
You tilt your head back to study his earnest expression, struck by the depth of emotion simmering in his warm multi-colored eyes. Impulsively, you reach up to cup his cheek, marveling at how easily he leans into your touch.
In these unguarded moments, it’s hard to reconcile this open, sensitive soul with the fierce, single-minded racer who commands a global spotlight. You feel extraordinarily privileged to be one of the few people who gets to see Lando like this — soft, devoted, his heart laid bare.
“You’ll never have to find out,” you whisper back fiercely. “I’m not going anywhere, Lando. I’m yours for as long as you’ll have me.”
His smile is blinding, making your breath catch. Then his lips are on yours again, kiss brimming with a potent mixture of gratitude, need, and sheer adoration that steals your breath.
When you finally break apart, twin smiles of pure contentment tug at both your mouths. Lando loops his arms loosely around your waist, hands splaying across the small of your back as he simply holds you close and takes a moment to drink you in.
You watch the play of emotions flit across his expressive features — affection, longing, bone-deep satisfaction at having you here, now, anchored in his embrace. A sense of peace and belonging washes over you, chasing away any lingering shadows of jealousy or doubt.
This is where you belong. This is your heart’s home, right here in Lando’s arms, sharing his joy and success and weathering the storms alongside him. A love like this — passionate yet grounded, all-consuming yet secure — is worth fighting for.
You may occasionally get prickly twinges of irrational jealousy. You may bicker and tease and test each other’s patience to its limits. But at the end of the day, you know there’s nowhere else either of you would rather be.
Lando seems to read your mind, his grin taking on a distinctly smug edge as his fingers trace deliciously distracting patterns along your spine.
“See?” He murmurs. “Eye-fucking the teammate is all well and good … but this?” He punctuates the words by pulling you flush against him, letting you feel the undeniable evidence of his arousal. “This is what I really want. What I’ll always want, baby.”
You can’t resist rolling your eyes at his signature cockiness, even as you melt against him with a soft hum of contentment. Typical Lando — somehow managing to be both charming and infuriatingly self-satisfied at the same time.
“Yeah, yeah,” you mumble, unable to keep the goofy smile off your face. “I get it, casanova. Now shut up and kiss me already.”
His answering laugh is pure sunshine, bright and carefree. Then he’s pulling you down into another heated kiss, effectively silencing any lingering self-doubt or jealousy.
This — the two of you, tangled up in each other with no barriers or secrets, just pure affection and insatiable desire — is what true love feels like. And you wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.

The soft hum of Christmas carols filled the air, the familiar warmth of holiday cheer weaving itself into every corner of Lando’s home. Fairy lights were strung across the ceiling, casting a golden glow over the bustling rooms. Laughter and the gentle clink of glasses echoed from the living room, where friends chatted and sipped mulled wine. Plates of festive treats circulated, filling the house with the scent of cinnamon and chocolate. Lando had truly outdone himself this year, hosting what could only be described as the quintessential holiday party.
Yet despite the festive atmosphere, Y/N found herself tucked away in the kitchen, seeking refuge from the swirling emotions she’d carried with her all evening.
The heat from the oven warmed the space, a stark contrast to the crisp winter air outside. She stood by the counter, meticulously arranging cookies on a cheerful platter decorated with snowflakes and holly. Her fingers brushed against a stray sprinkle, and with a soft huff, she flicked it off.
“Maybe I’ll just stay in here all night,” she muttered under her breath. It wasn’t that she didn’t enjoy the party—she did—but the sight of Lando, effortlessly charming as he floated from group to group, had her chest in a constant state of tightness. It was easier to busy herself in the kitchen than risk another encounter with him.
Leaning casually against the counter was Max Fewtrell, Lando’s best friend, and current observer of her transparent escape tactics. Max raised his mug of hot cocoa to his lips, watching her with a grin that suggested he had long since caught on to her behavior.
“You know, you’re really bad at hiding,” he teased, his voice light but laced with amusement.
Y/N sighed, not bothering to look up. “I’m not hiding. I’m… contributing.” She waved a hand toward the cookie platter as if that were a reasonable defense for her self-imposed exile.
Max snorted, setting his mug down on the counter. “Right. Because cookies are obviously the reason you’ve been holed up in here for the last twenty minutes.” He straightened, crossing his arms as his grin widened. “You’re definitely not avoiding the guy you’ve been staring at all night, then?”
Her cheeks flushed as she shot him a glare. “I have not been staring!”
“Oh, you absolutely have,” Max countered, clearly enjoying her discomfort. “Don’t think I didn’t notice you strategically positioning yourself under the mistletoe earlier. Subtle move, by the way.”
Y/N groaned, leaning against the counter and covering her face with her hands. “Okay, fine! Maybe I’ve been staring. And maybe I did stand under the mistletoe a little longer than necessary. But can you blame me?” Her voice dropped into a soft grumble. “I mean, look at him.”
Max raised an eyebrow, his grin turning into a smirk. “Oh, I’ve looked, trust me. But you don’t need to convince me. He’s your crush, not mine.”
She threw her hands up in frustration. “It’s not just a crush! He’s—” The words seemed to tumble out faster than she could stop them. “I mean, who wouldn’t fall for him? He’s sweet, funny, and ridiculously good-looking. It’s like he was designed to ruin me.”
The air in the kitchen shifted, and Max’s expression suddenly morphed from amused to alarmed. His eyes darted behind her, and Y/N’s stomach dropped. Slowly, she registered a faint sounda throat clearing.
Time slowed.
She didn’t want to turn around. She didn’t want to face the reality of what she already knew. But curiosity, or maybe sheer dread, compelled her to glance over her shoulder.
There he was.
Lando leaned casually against the doorway, his arms crossed over his chest and a mischievous grin playing at his lips. The golden glow of the fairy lights danced over his features, highlighting his tousled curls and sharp jawline. His dimpled smile sent her heart into a frantic rhythm, and the chaotic mess of butterflies in her stomach threatened to consume her whole.
“How much of that did you hear?” she stammered, her voice barely audible over the roar of her own heartbeat.
Lando’s grin widened as he pushed off the doorframe, taking a step closer. “Enough to know I need to start hanging out in the kitchen more.”
Y/N froze, her pulse hammering in her ears. Beside her, Max gave an awkward cough, grabbed the cookie platter, and mumbled something about needing to “check on the party.” In a flash, he disappeared, leaving her alone with Lando.
She barely registered his departure. Her focus was solely on Lando, who stood there, his expression unreadable save for the lingering amusement in his eyes.
“Uh, I didn’t—” she started, fumbling for an excuse, but he interrupted her with a soft laugh.
“Relax,” he said, his tone light and teasing. “You don’t have to explain anything.”
But that only made the heat in her cheeks burn hotter. “I wasn’t— I mean, I didn’t mean it like—”
“Didn’t mean it?” Lando tilted his head slightly, regarding her with mock seriousness. “So, you’re saying I’m not sweet, funny, and ridiculously good-looking?”
She groaned, burying her face in her hands. “Okay, fine. I said it. Are you happy now?”
“Very,” he replied, his voice softening as he took another step toward her. She peeked through her fingers, and he was suddenly much closer, his grin no longer teasing but warm. “For what it’s worth, I’m glad I overheard.”
Her heart stuttered. Slowly, she lowered her hands. “You are?”
“Yeah,” he said, leaning back against the counter beside her. “I’ve been trying to figure out how to tell you I like you for weeks. I didn’t think I’d get lucky enough for you to beat me to it.”
For a moment, she was sure she had misheard him. Her breath caught, and she blinked, trying to process his words. “Wait, what? You like me?”
Lando chuckled, his dimples deepening as he reached out to brush a stray sprinkle off her sleeve. “Yeah, I do. And now that I know the feeling’s mutual…” He trailed off, his eyes flicking upward.
She followed his gaze and froze. The infamous mistletoe dangled precariously above them, swaying slightly as if mocking her. Her breath hitched, and she glanced back at Lando, her nerves threatening to spiral out of control.
But he didn’t seem nervous. Instead, he gave her a soft, almost shy smile. “Looks like the mistletoe finally worked in your favor.”
Her cheeks burned, but this time, she didn’t let herself overthink it. “Yeah,” she murmured, a small smile tugging at her lips. “I guess it did.”
Lando stepped closer, his hand brushing hers as he leaned in. The world seemed to hold its breath, the chaos of the party fading into the background as his lips met hers. The kiss was gentle and warm, a perfect moment wrapped in the glow of fairy lights and the lingering scent of cookies.
When he pulled back, his grin was wider than ever, his voice teasing as he asked, “So, do I live up to the hype?”
She laughed, the tension that had plagued her all night melting away. “Sweet, funny, ridiculously good-looking… yeah, I’d say you do.”
The rest of the night passed in a blur of smiles and stolen glances. Lando stayed close, his hand brushing hers every chance he got, as if anchoring the newfound connection between them.
As the clock struck midnight and the party began to wind down, Y/N found herself back in the kitchen, this time with Lando by her side. He leaned against the counter, watching her with a look of pure contentment.
“I’m glad you came tonight,” he said softly.
She smiled, glancing up at him. “Me too.”
And as the fairy lights twinkled around them, it felt like the start of something magical—a holiday memory they would both treasure forever.

Front Row Hearts | idol!S.Coups x idol!reader | fluff
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
My fingers tugged nervously at the hem of my outfit as I stepped out of the car. The Loewe fashion show. My first big event as a newcomer idol. My debut had been a whirlwind, but this? This felt completely different. There were cameras flashing, people shouting, and my heart felt like it was pounding louder than the noise outside.
“You’ll do great,” my manager said, not even looking up from their phone as we made our way inside.
“Right,” I muttered, barely believing them.
“Oh, and by the way,” they added, far too casually, “you’re sitting next to SEVENTEEN’s S.Coups tonight.”
That made me freeze mid-step. “What?”
“It’s part of the plan,” they said with a sly smile. “You and him together? Perfect for the cameras. He’s already on board.”
My stomach flipped. “So… I’m supposed to just sit there and act like we’re close?”
“Exactly,” they replied, as if it was no big deal. “A few laughs, maybe some subtle glances—it’ll get people talking. Trust me, this is good for you. And for him, too. A win-win.”
————————————————————————————
Inside the venue, I was already feeling out of my depth when I spotted him.
Choi Seungcheol. S.Coups.
He stood near the seating area, dressed in a sleek black suit that somehow made him look even more confident than usual. He was chatting with someone from his team, but as soon as I walked in, his eyes landed on me.
He smiled, an easy, disarming smile that made me feel like maybe I wouldn’t completely embarrass myself tonight.
“You must be Y/N,” he said, stepping closer. His voice was warm, and up close, his presence was even more overwhelming.
“That’s me,” I managed to say, my voice quieter than I intended.
“I’m Seungcheol,” he said, his hand outstretched. “Or just S.Coups, if you’d rather.”
I shook his hand, hoping he couldn’t feel how clammy mine was. “Nice to meet you.”
His eyes lingered on me for a second longer than necessary, and his smile softened. “Don’t be nervous. Tonight’s going to be fun.”
———————————————-—————————————
The seating arrangement was exactly as planned—front row, side by side. Every camera in the room was aimed in our direction, but Seungcheol looked completely unfazed. Meanwhile, I could barely sit still.
“You okay?” he asked, leaning in slightly.
“Just a little overwhelmed,” I admitted, keeping my eyes on the runway.
He chuckled quietly, the sound low and comforting. “Don’t worry about them,” he said, nodding toward the cameras. “They’re not as scary as they look. Just act like it’s me and you.”
“That’s easy for you to say,” I replied, trying not to notice how close his shoulder was to mine.
“Hey,” he said, his tone teasing now. “If it makes you feel better, I get nervous too sometimes.”
I raised an eyebrow at him. “You? Nervous?”
“Yeah,” he said with a grin. “Like right now. What if you think I’m boring?”
I couldn’t help but laugh, my nerves easing just a little. “You’re definitely not boring.”
“Good,” he said, leaning back slightly but still keeping his gaze on me. “Because I plan on keeping you entertained all night.”
————————————————————————————
The show itself was stunning, but Seungcheol made it impossible to focus. Every so often, he’d lean over and whisper a comment about one of the outfits, usually something ridiculous that had me biting back laughter.
“That jacket looks like my grandma’s curtains,” he said at one point, and I had to cover my mouth to keep from laughing too loudly.
“You’re going to get me in trouble,” I whispered back.
“Trouble?” he repeated, smirking. “I think you’re blaming me for your terrible sense of humor.”
————————————————————————————
After the show ended, the photographers were still lingering, and Seungcheol turned to me with a glint in his eye. “Want to give them something to really talk about?”
I frowned. “What do you mean?”
“A TikTok,” he said, already pulling out his phone.
“You’re kidding.”
“I’m serious,” he said, grinning. “Let’s do the ‘HOT’ challenge. The fans will love it.”
Before I could protest, he had already opened the app and handed me the phone. “You know the dance, right?”
“Of course I know the dance,” I said, pretending to be confident even though my heart was racing.
“Alright then,” he said, stepping back and getting into position.
We started the dance, and at first, I was too nervous to focus. But Seungcheol made it easy to forget about everything else. He was playful, teasing me whenever I missed a move, and somehow, we ended up laughing more than dancing.
“Come on,” he said after we finished, reviewing the video. “Not bad, but I think you held back.”
“I did not!” I argued, crossing my arms.
“Sure you didn’t,” he said, smirking. Then, out of nowhere, he added, “So… are you a Carat?”
I froze, my mind going blank. “Uh… what makes you think that?”
He raised an eyebrow. “You knew the dance. And you’ve been way too quiet about it. So? Who’s your bias?”
I hesitated, debating whether or not to tell him the truth. But before I could stop myself, I blurted out, “Mingyu.”
Seungcheol stared at me for a second, clearly caught off guard. Then he burst out laughing, the sound loud and genuine.
“Mingyu?” he repeated, shaking his head. “I can’t believe this.”
“What?” I said, suddenly feeling defensive. “He’s charming!”
He leaned in, his grin teasing. “So I’m not charming?”
“I didn’t say that,” I muttered, my face burning.
“Well,” he said, still smirking, “I’ll just have to work harder, won’t I?”
————————————————————————————-
After we finished the TikTok, Seungcheol walked me to the exit. The crowd had thinned out, but the air between us felt heavier now—like something unspoken was hanging there.
“This was fun,” he said, his voice quieter now.
“Yeah,” I replied, meeting his gaze.
He hesitated for a moment before leaning in slightly. “We should do this again. No cameras next time.”
I felt my heart skip, but before I could respond, my manager called me over, breaking the moment.
“Guess I’ll see you soon,” he said, his tone light but his eyes serious.
“Yeah,” I said softly, watching as he walked away.
————————————————————————————-
When I got back to my hotel room, I barely had time to kick off my shoes before my phone buzzed.
A new message.
The number wasn’t saved, but the text was unmistakable:
“Dinner soon? Just us this time. I’ll even forgive you for picking Mingyu. —Seungcheol”
I stared at the screen, my face breaking into a grin before I even realized it.
Maybe tonight wasn’t just for show after all.

Things have settled back into their regular routine. Leon hasn’t brought up that illicit window scene—even if it has lived rent free in his head since—and you definitely haven’t brought it up. He kind of wishes you would; he wants to know if it meant anything or really was just the one-off it seems to be. But, you’re his best friend, the girl next door he’s had in his corner from the beginning. He’d be stupid to mess that up.
Meeting you for lunch isn’t anything new; it’s literally a muscle memory for him to walk over to the campus cafeteria and meet up with you for a bite to eat. Today, he catches you already seated at a table and waves to you. You smile brightly and wave back before pointing at the seat across from you. A warm, fluttery feeling trills in his stomach like a songbird. Queuing in line to grab something from the menu, he can’t help but think that ever since that afternoon, Leon hasn’t been out on any dates.
And he’s not upset about it either. You’ve been spending your free time with him too—talking about buying a new controller interface to produce better mixes for your beats. It all flies over his head, but you light up like the Fourth of July when chatting about it, and Leon’s happy enough to bask in that glow.
After paying for his food, he’s so lost in his thoughts, he doesn’t even realize someone has occupied the seat next to you until he’s sitting down across from you.
The guy has the audacity to smile at Leon. “Hey, man.”
“Hey.”
He flicks his eyes from this interloper over to you. You’re not even paying attention to Leon; your body’s angled towards this stranger with a smile on your face.
“Don’t lose my number now,” the guy winks.
Does he think that lame-ass pickup line will work? Leon scoffs mentally, but his eyes cut back to you, and you’re still smiling at that guy. There’s no way you would give that loser the time of day—right?
“Uh huh, I’ll think about it.” You wave him off with a laugh, and the idiot finally leaves.
Leon’s blood pressure skyrockets. That asshole gave you his number, and you took it? You don’t even know this guy; he could be a total douchebag.
“Who was that?” He pins you in place with his stare.
You shrug, like Leon’s not losing his mind right now.
“Some guy. I think we have a class together,” you pause before shaking your head. “Either way, he wanted to see if I was free this weekend.”
“For what?”
You laugh, “What do you think? He asked me out on a date.”
Leon’s stomach clenches uncomfortably. “And?”
“And I told him I had plans.” Your brows raise in concern. “Are you okay? I told you yesterday that I had to run some errands for my dad on Saturday, and we’re hanging on Sunday.”
He forces his shoulders to relax. “Yeah, I just thought—never mind. You coming over today?”
You smile, confusion hovering over your features. “Of course. You sure you’re okay?”
“I’m fine.”
Things were not fine. He enjoys the rest of lunch with you, talking about classes and upcoming assignments, but in the back of his mind, he can’t stop thinking about how casually that guy hit on you. How you just sat there, smiling, instead of telling him to piss off. Leon’s literally sitting right in front of you—your best friend—so there’s no need for some loser to come barging in.
After splitting up for different classes, Leon’s thoughts run in a constant loop. He gets why that guy hit on you; the why isn’t the issue. He just hates that you even entertained that Neanderthal. How many times have you complained to him about a terrible date? Countless times. Leon can’t even remember all the horrible details of each one—only that once it’s all said and done, you come to him for comfort.
And after all, why not? He’s your shoulder to cry on, the one person who’s been by you through thick and thin. Which, of course, goes both ways, but he can’t help but feel protective of you. You’re too sweet and trusting; a prime example being that dickweed at lunch. Leon is so in his thoughts that he doesn’t even take notes for any of his lectures, just sitting in his seat for each one and thinking about you.
How often does that kind of thing happen? Especially when he’s not even around. How many guys have hit on you, and you’ve never thought to even mention it to him? Glaring at random guys he sees around campus, Leon stews in his emotions—possessive jealousy and frustration coursing through him and sending his thoughts on a downward spiral.
By the time Leon leaves campus, he’s decided on a new course of action. He’s really going to show you he’s the only one for you. Running through ideas on the drive home, he thinks back on all the things he’s done that had you acting overly affectionate toward him.  It’s guaranteed to happen when he helps you out with something—like the last time he changed the oil in your car without asking him to or fixing your old radio.
Not seeing your car parked out by your house, Leon decides to just hang around the garage, maybe tinker with some little projects he’s got on the side. You brought over a busted speaker the other day, and since he has the free time, he might as well work on it. Plus, it’ll help with his plans as well as take his mind off of things.
Losing track of time, he doesn’t lift his head away from his workbench until you’re clearing your throat behind him.
“Whatcha working on?”
He stands and stretches, rubbing his neck to work a kink out. “Think your speaker is almost fixed up. Wanna solder a few things before testing it.”
“Oh nice! Thanks, Leon!” You smile, peering around him to look at the mess on the tabletop. “That saves me so much money, you don’t even know. You’re the best.”
Pride suffuses his chest, your praise lighting up his brain.
“Eh, just glad to help.”
Leon watches you walk over to the couch and relax onto the cushions. After stretching a bit more, he walks over and rolls the garage door shut before joining you. He sinks down into the soft material, legs splayed out in front of him. Drumming his fingers on his thighs, his eyes shooting over to the pack of smokes on his workbench.
“You should cut back,” you tease, kicking your shoes off and tucking your feet under his thigh.
“I don’t even smoke that much.” He rolls his eyes, a grin tugging at his lips. “Besides, you’re not my boss.”
“You’re right. I’d fire you for insubordination.” You tease, and he shakes his head with a chuckle.
Lapsing into silence, Leon’s thoughts circle back to earlier at lunch. It can’t hurt anything to feel you out, see what you really think about that guy.
“You gonna call that dude who gave you his number?” His fingertips tap a nonsensical beat on the top of your foot.
You wiggle your toes against his thigh. “Eh, I don’t think so. Honestly, it’s been so long since I’ve even been on a date I’ve probably forgotten how,” you laugh.
Leon doesn’t know what possesses him, but he blurts out the first thought that crosses his mind.
“We could practice.”
He doesn’t know why he says it; it was just a word vomit moment. There’s no way—
“S-sure,” you look away shyly. “Just a friend helping a friend, right?”
He nods so fast his fringe moves with the motion. “Right! Nothing weird about wanting to help out a friend. And we’re best friends, so it only makes sense for me to help you.”
You finally look back over at him, plush bottom lip tucked between your teeth. Leon wants to sink his own teeth into that lip.
“Okay. Um, so where do we start?” You straighten up in your seat and smooth your hands down your shirt.
“Well, what’s making you nervous?” His own heart races in anticipation.
“Well, if things lead to more, I’m not sure what I’d do,” you pull your feet away to move closer to him.
“Yeah?” Arousal pools hot and fast in his gut. “Want me to take the lead?”
“Please,” you murmur, eyes drifting to his lips. Your hand reaches up to brush his fringe from his eyes.
“It’s just helping out a friend.” The words are quiet, like you’re trying to convince yourself. Leon, not wanting to lose this chance, rubs his palms down your sides.
“Of course.” He nods, helping you straddle his lap, brain buzzing with so many thoughts it’s all noise. “It’s just practice.”
“Uh-huh,” your eyes droop, sinking your weight against him, hands resting on his chest. “Just pretend.”
“Okay,” he murmurs, bringing one hand up to cup the back of your neck.
He pulls you down as he tilts his head, slotting your mouths together like puzzle pieces. His cock stiffens in his jeans when you gasp and melt against his body. Your kisses are soft and hesitant—your mouth parting immediately when Leon swipes his tongue across the seam of your lips.
It’s easy to get lost in this slow, sensual makeout. Leon’s hands grip onto your hips, thumbs pressing right into your hip bones. Your fingers are tangled in his hair, making his cock twitch every time your nails scratch against his scalp. He’s so lucky that you trust him with something like this—that you’re willing to be this vulnerable with him.
His feelings are all over the place, but the one thing that definitely stands out is the bone-deep satisfaction in knowing you're all his, at least for now. You rock your hips down against his bulge, and he groans against your mouth.
“It’s been a while since I’ve done anything like this.” You pull away, lips kiss swollen and dilated gaze locked onto his.
His fingers encircle your wrists where your hands rest on his chest, keeping his eyes on yours. “Oh?”
“Mm hmm,” you offer him a fond smile, his favorite kind; it reaches your eyes and makes them soft.
He drops kisses to your jaw, the apples of your cheeks, then your parted lips. A surge of want so heady it makes him dizzy has him kissing you deeply.
So that’s how one thing leads to another—hot, sloppy kisses to dirtily grinding your damp, panty-clad cunt against the bulge in his briefs—and now you’re both naked, with Leon pressing you down into the couch cushions while he drags his cock across your sensitive clit.
“We’re best friends, right?” He murmurs, taking your hands in his and pressing them above your head.
You nod, eyes glassy. “Of course, Leon. Best friends.”
He rubs his thumb over the pulse point in your wrist before reaching one hand down to grip the base of his dick. Slapping his cock down onto your wet cunt, he notches the tip at your drippy hole. His heartbeat’s in his throat.
“This okay?”
Whining, you cant your hips toward him. “Yes, please, wanna feel you.”
Groaning from deep in his chest, Leon rocks forward, sinking inch by inch into your snug cunt. He hopes to god he can hold out. You feel way too good. His eyes slip shut, and he pants heavily, one hand gripping your hip while the other still grips your wrists.
“Fucking hell,” he grunts, finally opening his eyes to stare down at you. “Such a tight cunt.”
He watches your lashes flutter as your pussy grips his cock like a vice. He groans, pulling out to fuck back in just as deep. Letting go of your wrists, he slides his other hand down across your body, groping your breasts before gripping your hip.
“God, you showing me these gorgeous tits the other night—can’t stop thinkin’ about ‘em,” he dips his head down and bites at your stiff peaks, tongue swiping across each hard nipple. “Teasing me in the window like that? Got me so hard.”
Your cunt squeezes down on his cock, and he groans.
“Leon,” your hands move to grab onto his broad shoulders, making his muscles flex under your hands. “Fuck, your mouth feels so good.”
“Yeah?” He grunts, pulling out halfway before rutting his cock back inside your snug pussy, his fingers digging into the fat of your hips.
“Your soft wet pussy feels good, too,” he whispers against the shell of your ear. “Your pretty perfect pussy, and it’s all mine.”
“All yours,” you whine, hole pulsing and sucking his cock in further.
You gasp out, lips brushing against his, “Have you ever felt this good with anyone else?”
“No, never. You’re so good, so good for me,” he pants, mouthing and biting at your breasts.
He raises up, grabbing for your hands until he can lace your fingers together, pressing your clasped hands down against the couch cushions. Now, Leon’s face to face with you, watching the pleasure twist your features erotically.
“You drive me crazy,” he tells you, voice gentle even as his hips thrust roughly against yours. “Just wanna keep you all to myself.”
“Leon,” you whimper, wrapping your legs around his waist. “I feel the same way.”
He presses your lips together, licking into your mouth with a moan. He can’t get enough of the way you taste, sucking on your tongue greedily. Thrusting faster, his cock pounds into your sopping wet cunt harder and harder—the sound of skin slapping together sounding loud in the garage. Letting go of your hand, he slips his fingers between your bodies and begins strumming against your puffy clit.
It’s like a live wire runs through your body, muscles tightening and twitching while your pussy walls flutter around his cock.
“Gonna cum,” you whimper against his lips, and he kisses you heatedly, swallowing your moans and whines to keep stowed away for when he’s alone in the dark of the night.
“Do it,” he murmurs, pulling back until he can lock eyes with you. “Cum for me, show me how good you feel, baby.”
Whining, your head arches back, legs clamping down around his waist as you cry out softly. Leon can feel the difference; your pussy milking his cock with your inner muscles until he’s groaning and burying himself balls deep. Belatedly he realizes he’s cumming inside you raw, a hot spike of arousal driving him to rut deeper into your cunt, hot ropes of cum spurting thick and sticky inside your hole.
Giving you a few minutes until your legs drop away from his body, Leon eases out of your pussy, eyes glued to your puffy cunt as you leak his cum onto the ugly green cushions. You stretch and raise up with a moan, reaching for your clothes strewn in the back of the couch.
Dressing quietly, Leon’s unsure what to do or say next. A line was crossed, whether or not either of you admits it out loud, and he only hopes you’re both crossing over into the same direction.
“Shit!”
Leon’s pulled from his musings at your urgent tone.
“I told mom I’d stop by the store on my way home and totally forgot. Fuck,” you mutter under your breath.
Tossing on your jacket, you stand up, patting your pockets until you find your keys.
“Talk later, okay?” You drop a quick kiss onto Leon’s lips before walking over to the garage door and rolling it open enough to slip under.
You shoot him a smile and a little wink before letting the door drop closed. Leon sits there dumbfounded, brain oddly quiet as he processes what just happened. Maybe you’re both more on the same page than he thought.

My Humps - Winter
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing. idol!winter x aespa!addmember!reader
synopsis. during a casual weverse live, winter stands up to grab something, unknowingly turning her back to y/n. y/n playfully “covers” their eyes but quickly sneaks a glance, which fans instantly catch—leading to chaos in the comments and a flustered reaction from both.
[Weverse Live Stream - Winter & Y/N]
The chat was buzzing with excitement as fans flooded into the live stream, excited to see both Winter and Y/N. The two idols sat comfortably on the couch, both laughing and chatting with the fans. Y/N was leaning back, a soft smile on her face as she read through the comments, while Winter was sitting upright, her attention divided between responding to fans and relaxing.
“Thank you for all your love, guys!” Winter smiled warmly at the screen. “You all are so sweet! Let’s keep reading your messages.” She looked at the screen for a moment, then turned to Y/N, nudging her with her shoulder playfully. “What do you think, Y/N? Should we answer a few more questions before we sign off?”
Y/N chuckled softly, glancing at Winter. “Yeah, of course. We can’t leave without giving them a little more time.”
As Winter settled back down, she suddenly stood up to grab something off the coffee table in front of them. Y/N watched her for a moment, looking around for the item Winter was reaching for. As Winter bent down to pick up the item, her back was now to Y/N, and her posture gave way to a view that sent Y/N’s heart racing—a perfect view of Winter’s curves.
Flustered, Y/N quickly raised her hand to cover her eyes, embarrassed by the accidental peek. “Uhh, nope! Not looking!” she stammered, her face going slightly red.
Winter turned to look over her shoulder, noticing Y/N’s reaction. She paused, giving Y/N a teasing look. “Are you hiding from me?” Winter chuckled, raising an eyebrow. “I thought you were already used to being around me by now.”
Y/N, realizing how silly she must have looked, quickly tried to play it cool. “I… uh… no, I wasn’t hiding! Just, uh… making sure I wasn’t being too obvious.” She glanced at the screen nervously, her cheeks flushed. “I was just, you know, being polite!”
But when Y/N lowered her hand, the fans in the chat immediately took notice, their eyes going wide.
Chat:
gays4aespa: “Wait, why did Y/N cover her eyes though? 😳”
wiplash: “Y/N is hiding something!! 😏”
karinaismother: “I saw that! She was definitely looking. 😂”
summerintowinter: “Did Y/N just peek at Winter’s… 👀”
Y/N froze, realizing her mistake too late. She could feel the eyes of the fans through the screen. “Oh my god,” she muttered under her breath, trying to avoid looking directly at the chat.
Winter, ever the tease, turned back to Y/N with a smirk. “What’s wrong, Y/N? Are you embarrassed?” she asked, clearly enjoying Y/N’s discomfort.
Y/N let out a small laugh, trying to hide her face in her hands. “I’m not embarrassed! I… I didn’t mean to stare, okay?”
Winter crossed her arms, still smiling. “You don’t have to hide it. I’m sure they all saw,” she said, motioning to the chat. “Looks like you got caught.”
The chat exploded with reactions, fans loving the playful banter between the two.
Chat:
#1aespashooter: “Winter caught Y/N red-handed! 😂”
y/nbraincell: “I can’t believe this is happening. Y/N, you’re so obvious! 😜”
WinterBaby: “Y/N totally checked out Winter, and Winter knows it. 😏”
Y/N sighed dramatically, throwing her head back. “Okay, okay. You got me. I wasn’t trying to hide it! It just… happened!” She looked at Winter, who was still standing in front of her, looking far too pleased with herself.
Winter leaned over slightly, a playful gleam in her eyes. “I didn’t know you were so shy, Y/N,” she teased. “You can stare all you want, you know.”
Y/N’s eyes widened. “Winter!” she protested, though her tone was more flustered than serious. “Stop making it worse!”
Winter only grinned, brushing her hair over her shoulder as she leaned back into the couch. “Don’t worry, Y/N,” she said, her voice lowering a bit with a teasing lilt. “I don’t mind. You can check me out anytime.”
The chat went wild at Winter’s bold comment, fans loving every second of the exchange between the two.
Chat:
asepamygay: “Wait, now Winter is encouraging Y/N? 😱”
winnersluvwinter: “THEY’RE FLIRTING, I CAN’T!! 😳”
My4Ever: “I’m loving this! Winter and Y/N are giving us all the feels! 😍”
Y/N laughed nervously, shaking her head. “Okay, okay, let’s get back to the questions before I embarrass myself further,” she said quickly, trying to steer the conversation away from the teasing.
Winter, still smiling, sat back down beside Y/N, nudging her playfully with her elbow. “You’re cute when you’re flustered,” she said softly, keeping her voice light.
Y/N blinked, her heart skipping a beat. “Stop,” she said softly, a shy smile creeping onto her lips.
The fans in the chat were eating it up.
Chat:
polyforwiny/n: “Winter calling Y/N cute?! THEY’RE SO CUTE TOGETHER. 😭”
aespa2028: “Honestly, Y/N and Winter have the best chemistry”
Y/N and Winter shared a brief, quiet moment before Winter nudged Y/N again, causing her to laugh.
“Alright,” Y/N said, catching her breath. “No more distractions. We’re here for the fans, not to make a spectacle of myself.”
Winter grinned and raised her hands in mock surrender. “Fine, fine. But I think the fans liked it more than you think.”
As the live stream continued, the banter between Y/N and Winter carried on, and the fans couldn’t stop commenting on their chemistry. Despite the teasing, it was clear to everyone watching that there was a deep, playful connection between the two idols—one that only seemed to grow stronger the more they interacted.

Remus Lupin x fem!reader ♡ 651 words
“No, yeah, I think that’s a good idea.” You flash your boyfriend a terse smile as you come in the door, phone held between your face and your shoulder. Remus steps forward to take your bag from you, and you mouth a thanks as you set down your keys. “That sounds like it would work fairly easily with my current plan, I wouldn’t mind incorporating that. No—of course—no worries, I appreciate your help.”
Remus starts to ease you out of your jacket, and it’s a struggle to keep from sighing at the casual care in his touch as you continue talking to the person on the other line. “Okay, are you free to meet on Thursday to finalize things?” You listen. Nod. “Perfect. I’ll get in contact with the others and figure out a time that works.”
Remus hangs your jacket over a chair and goes to sit on the couch, motioning for you to follow. You make a gesture for one second and take your planner from your bag, grabbing a pen and taking the cap off with your teeth. “So you definitely can’t do after four? No, that’s cool, I’m just making sure.” You scribble down a couple of time ranges. “I’ll get back to you with what the others say. Okay, thanks! Talk soon.”
You end the call with a sigh, leaving your planner faceup on the table so you’ll remember to call the others later. Remus waits until you’re looking at him before patting his thigh.
Something unravels in you as you walk over to him obediently, settling yourself in his lap.
“Hi,” you say, wrapping your arms loosely around his neck and laying your head on his shoulder.
“Hi.” A bit of bemusement makes its way into Remus’ tone at your obvious relief. He rests a hand on the small of your back. “Long day, sweetheart?”
You hum. “Not bad. I just have this headache that won’t go away, so that made it feel longer.”
Remus tuts, his other hand coming up to cup the back of your head protectively. “Why’s that, hm?”
“Dunno,” you exhale, snuggling into him. “It’s getting better already, though.”
“Hm.” He sounds dissatisfied. A second later, he’s holding you securely to his back, tipping you both forward as he reaches for the coffee table. You hear ice clinking. “Drink this.”
Reluctantly, you take your face from his shoulder to accept the water bottle. It’s his, nearly full and ice cold. Remus strokes your hair as you sip from it, eyes soft with approval.
“That’s enough managing people for today,” he says, not unkindly. “You’ve already done most of the work, you can send a text and let them coordinate their own meeting time.”
You frown, taking your lips from the water bottle. “I would, but they’ll never actually respond if it’s in a group chat. Nobody replies if I don’t message them individually.”
“They’ll have to figure it out.” He shrugs insouciantly.
You feel your eyebrows pinch, another argument rising to your tongue, but it evaporates when Remus wraps a long-fingered hand around your jaw.
He tilts your chin up towards him. “They shouldn’t need you to take care of everything in order for it to get done,” he says sternly. “If they start calling you again tonight, I want you to send them to voicemail. Understand?”
“Yes,” you reply automatically, and Remus releases your chin as you sigh, letting you ignore the water bottle for a minute so you can fold yourself back into him.
“Good.” He turns his head into yours, kissing your temple. “You were never going to get rid of this headache if you let them keep pestering you all night, dove. They’re like flies.” You laugh a little, and Remus scratches at your scalp rewardingly. “You can text them in a little bit. Let’s just stay here for a minute, yeah? Try to get you relaxed.”

Dad!Gojo x reader Genre: Fluff Words: 551 Synopsis: Gojo lies about his location Masterlist
Tumblr media
The latest mission had been really intense, adrenaline-fueled, and downright exhausting. But for you, the thought of finally getting home to your little family kept you going. With a quick check-in, you called Satoru, hoping to hear the comforting sound of your husband's voice and perhaps a few adorable ramblings from your little child.
"Hey, babe, how's it going?" you greeted Gojo over the phone, hoping to hear the familiar warmth in his voice.
"Hey there baby, everything's good here. Just putting C/N to bed," Gojo replied casually.
Relief washed over you. "Oh, that's great! I miss you guys so much. I can't wait to get home."
"Yeah, we miss you too," Gojo said, his voice slightly distracted.
You frowned. "Are you sure everything's okay? You sound a bit off."
"No, love, everything's fine. We're just here, at home, all rolled up and cozy in bed," Gojo reassured, his tone a tad too chipper.
"Well alright then! I'll see you guys soon. Love you."
Something didn't add up. You glanced at the map on your phone, which showed Gojo's location tagged in a cafeteria nearby. Suspicion crept in, and you decided to investigate.
As you entered the cafeteria, you spotted Gojo sitting at a table, chatting away with someone you couldn't see from your position, far from the cozy confines of home as he claimed. Confused, you dialed Gojo's number again.
"Hey, Satoru, where are you?" you asked, trying to keep your voice steady.
"At home, of course," he replied without missing a beat.
You narrowed your eyes, your gaze fixed on Gojo. "Really? Because it looks like you're in a cafeteria."
Gojo's eyes widened in surprise, but he quickly regained his composure. "Uh what are you talking about? Must be a glitch in the GPS or something. Definitely home, just enjoying some quality time with our little one."
You sighed, not buying Gojo's flimsy excuse for a second. Determined to catch him red-handed, you made your way quietly behind him. As you stood behind your husband, your child caught sight of you and froze, their eyes widening in panic.
Gojo continued chatting, unaware of your presence behind him. "You know, your mom can be so strict sometimes. Always making sure everything's in order, no room for fun."
You couldn't help but roll their eyes at Gojo's comment. But before you could confront him, your child subtly signaled towards your direction, prompting your husband to turn around.
The moment Gojo laid eyes on you, his expression morphed from nonchalant to downright mushy. "Well, look who's here! Isn't it my favorite person in the world?"
"Gojo Satoru, what are you doing here?" you asked, trying to feign seriousness, but couldn't fight the urge to smile at his sudden change in demeanor.
Gojo grinned sheepishly. "Okay, fine, you caught me. We may have wanted a little break from bedtime duty."
"And you thought hanging out in a cafeteria was the best way to do that?" you raised an eyebrow incredulously.
"Well, when you put it like that..." Gojo trailed off, scratching the back of his head. "But hey, since you're here, why don't you join us? We were just about to grab some snacks."
You couldn't help but laugh at Gojo's antics. "Fine, but only because I missed you guys too much."

Chemical Override (bonus chapter 5) - Never Have I Ever, Darling
Ewan Mitchell x actress!reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
a/n: what started out as a brilliant anon prompt turned into a potential minishot turned into this bonus chapter. Have at it, darlings.
series masterlist ▪︎ main masterlist
Set after part nine. Some of our beloved cast members (Phia, Tom, Liv, Emma, Harry, Bethany, Fabs, Matty, Ewan, and the reader) are in different cities so they decide to have a mini online reunion. And - you guessed it - chaos ensues.
Tumblr media
Ewan leans back in his chair, watching the grid of faces on his screen. The reunion call had been predictably chaotic from the start, and now, with everyone several drinks deep, things are getting even more unruly.
“Okay, I’m bored of all your faces now,” Tom groans, leaning back in his chair in mock annoyance. “How about we play a little game?”
You roll your eyes at Tom’s theatrics, but your lips twitch up. “Yeah, why not? I can’t say I enjoy seeing your giant mug either.” This only prompts Tom to shoot back with, “What, this mug?” He then shoves his face into the camera until his nose fills the screen.
Ewan’s smile widens as he watches you lean in to match Tom’s energy, scrunching your nose at the camera. His heart gives an involuntary lurch. He misses you, and all your sharp and witty retorts. You can make him laugh without even trying. His mind flashes to what you used to have together, and it stings more than he cared to admit.
But then his eyes dart to the tiny square beside yours – Matt. His smile is effectively dampened.
Phia cuts in, her eyes glinting with mischief. “We were thinking... Never Have I Ever? So you have to say whether or not you've done a thing. If you have, take a drink. And elaborate if you want.”
She winks at someone – or maybe a few someones – definitely not Ewan. He frowns. Something’s going on here.
“Oh, I don’t do that,” Harry jokes. “I’m too young and innocent to drink!”
Emma beams at him, “That’s my good boy.”
Without missing a beat, Tom slides in, smirking, “Do I lose cool points if I also want Emma to call me their good boy?”
“When have you ever been cool?” Ewan deadpans, raising an eyebrow.
“Ouch,” Tom dramatically presses a hand to his chest, “You roasted me in the show, and now you roast me in real life? Cold, mate. Cold.”
Fabien chuckles, but Ewan barely registers it. His focus drifts to you, laughing at something Matt just said in the chat. His chest tightens, and he heads to the kitchen to refill his drink. It is always like this. He could never decide if he was more annoyed with Matt for being so… Matt, or with himself for letting it get to him. But how can it not?
When everyone is settled back in their seats, respective alcoholic beverages in hand, Phia announces, “Alright, drinks ready? Let’s go! I’ll start.” She pauses dramatically before delivering her line. “Never have I ever… embarrassed myself at work.”
Ewan freezes, already knowing he’s about to be dragged into this. Your eyes flicker toward him, an amused smile tugging at your lips.
“Oh, I know who! Mr. Ewan Mitchell please take the stage,” Tom prompts, his voice ever teasing.
Matt raises an eyebrow, leaning in closer to the camera. “Yeah, mate. Let’s hear it.”
Ewan feels a pulse of irritation, but he forces a casual grin, raising his glass. “Fine. Fine. There was this one time… during an interview… where I got... distracted.”
You raise an eyebrow, grinning wickedly as you catch his glance. “By what? A hard question?”
Ewan chuckles darkly, his gaze locked on you. “Nope. By a certain someone.”
The rest of the group catches on instantly, erupting in loud whoops and laughter. You laugh too, shaking your head, but the faint blush creeping up your neck doesn’t go unnoticed by Ewan.
“Ohhh, I remember,” Liv howls, her wine sloshing in her glass. “You'd go beet red! We even had a drinking game dedicated to those.”
"What?" Ewan asks, clearly confused.
"Nothing," Liv quickly mutters, but then she and Phia have to stifle their giggles.
You lean back in your chair, shaking your head. “By the way, I wasn’t distracting! I was just being professional.”
“Sure, love,” Matt chimes in, throwing a smirk your way. “You’ve always been very… professional.”
Ewan’s smile fades slightly as he watches the exchange. He tries to laugh it off, but there’s a knot forming in his chest that refuses to loosen.
Tom jumps in to keep the energy up. “Next one! Never have I ever... pretended to know something just to impress someone I liked.”
Matt and Ewan both freeze for a second. Tom’s eyes light up, knowing he’s hit something. Everyone else watches intently, waiting for one of them to crack.
Phia laughs, clearly enjoying the tension. “Oh, come on, boys. One of you’s gotta drink to this.”
Matt is the first to cave, lifting his glass with a sheepish grin. “Alright, guilty as charged.”
“Oh? And what was it?” Ewan asks, leaning forward, his tone sharper than he intended.
Matt shrugs, eyes flicking to you briefly. “Indie film. Thought I could impress someone by pretending I’d seen it. No idea what it was about.”
You snicker, rolling your eyes. “Points for trying, Smithy.”
“Cheers to trying too hard, I guess,” Ewan icily mutters.
Matt doesn’t respond immediately, but his jaw tightens as he drinks.
Phia, loving the growing tension, grins wickedly as she leans toward the screen. “Alright, alright. This one might be for the silly boys. Never have I ever... gotten flustered because of someone I’m attracted to on set.”
Ewan’s heart jumps into his throat, and he catches your eye. The group goes silent for a split second before exploding in laughter.
“Oh, this is going to be good,” Tom says, rubbing his hands together in delight.
Ewan feels his face heating up, the alcohol loosening his control over his reactions. He tries to play it off, taking a deliberate sip of his drink, but he knows everyone’s watching him. Matt, unsurprisingly, is doing the same.
“Wait – both of you?” Emma teases, eyes darting between Ewan and Matt. “This is getting interesting.”
Bethany chuckles. “What’s this? A love triangle brewing? Well, I already know which side I’m on!”
Ewan can feel the weight of the question hanging in the air, even though it’s masked in humour. His heart pounds, but he keeps his face neutral. The laughter from the screen feels distant, his focus narrowing on you as you nervously sipped your drink.
Before anyone can linger on the moment too long, Tom jumps in with another devilish idea. “Next one: Never have I ever... met my celebrity crush.”
You sigh dramatically, lifting your glass. “Alright. Fine. I have.”
Matt’s smirk widens. “And who would that be?”
You pause for a moment, glancing at Ewan briefly before you say, “Matt was my celebrity crush during his Doctor Who days.”
The group erupts into chaos – clapping, whistling, teasing jabs flying from every direction. Tom is practically falling out of his chair with laughter, clapping loudly. “Oh, that is brilliant! Drink up!”
Matt raises his glass, clearly enjoying the attention. “Well, can’t say I’m surprised.”
Ewan forces a smile, the jealousy burning under his skin. Just when he thinks it might cool down, Liv drops another bomb. “Alright, here’s a cheeky one. Never have I ever... had naughty public sex.”
The group’s reactions ranged from laughter to playful groans, but Ewan’s focus was solely on you. Your eyes went wide, and you quickly glanced at him, clearly panicking.
His phone buzzes on the table, while the rest of the group is busy answering – and attempting to avoid – the question. He looks down and sees a message from you.
My Darling: Don’t answer that.
- Why not?
My Darling: They’ll figure it out
- My love, hate to break it to you but I wasn’t celibate before we met
My Darling: You know how they think
-  It’s not a big deal.
My Darling: Come on. Please?
-  Say the magic word
My Darling: I just did.
- No you didn’t
My Darling: PLEASE don’t answer that.
- Not what I’m looking for
My Darling: Oh for fuck’s sake.
- What do you call me?
My Darling: Don’t answer, Mitchell.
- Nope
My Darling: Ugh. Ok.
My Darling: Baby, don’t answer that. I implore you. Baby, oh baby.
Ewan can’t help but giggle to himself at your barely veiled sarcasm, just bleeding off the text message. His silly girl.
- And we have a winner!
My Darling: I hate u.
- Enough to fuck my brains out in a semi-public place
My Darling: Shut up, Mitchell.
- You love me
You glance up from your phone, eyes meeting Ewan’s on the screen. He’s grinning like the cat who got the cream, clearly loving watching you squirm. He leans back in his chair, keeping his glass lowered. “You know, I think I’m going to plead the fifth on this one.”
Tom and Fabien erupt into loud boos, but the rest of the group is laughing, already tipsy and entertained by the spectacle. Ewan feels a rush of satisfaction watching you blush even harder.
“Oh, come on!” Tom scoffs, clearly annoyed. “You can’t plead the fifth. This is a mostly British group call.”
“I’m in LA,” Ewan shoots back with a grin. “I’m allowed.”
“Hold on, hold on,” Harry interrupts, his eyes wide with confusion. “I’m sorry, what does ‘pleading the fifth’ mean?”
Emma responds, “I think that means you can choose not to answer.”
“What?” Harry practically yells, and nearly slides off the edge of his seat, making everyone laugh. “So I could have been using that all this time?”
“It’s an American thing, mate,” Bethany clarifies, trying to stifle her laughter.
“But Ewan’s doing it!” Harry protests.
“I’m in LA so…” Ewan shrugs nonchalantly, a smug grin spreading across his face.
“Ewan has a point,” you chime in, coming to his aid – and yours. “Just let the guy plead the fifth.”
Phia then points to you, mischief in her eyes. “Alright, babe, your turn. No pleading the fifth. You’re not in LA.”
“What?” you freeze. In your efforts not to get Ewan to answer, you forgot you had to avoid the same problem. Ewan just stares at your flustered image on the screen, mouth parted in disbelief. You think for a moment, then blurt out, “But I… also plead the fifth!”
“You’re not in the US!” Tom declares. “Nope, not gonna happen.”
“Come on,” you retort, scrambling for an excuse. “I could be in the US right now, how do you know?”
“Love,” Matt smirks, “I just saw you yesterday.”
“No, you didn’t,” you say immediately. “That was my twin sister.”
“Then she’s every bit as gorgeous as you are,” Matt quips, relishing the moment.
“Alright, you two,” Phia says, feeling the need to intervene for Ewan’s sake. “Okay, babe, no more dodging. You have to follow the rules.”
“I… I… oh for fuck’s sake,” you sigh in defeat. “Yes.”
The group erupts into drunken cheers, the noise practically deafening through Ewan’s speakers. He watches you laugh, clearly embarrassed, but enjoying the chaos.
Then, just as the cheers start to die down, Ewan raises his glass with a smug grin. “You know what? I changed my mind. I’ll answer too. Yes.”
The group explodes again –  Fabien banging on his desk, Tom howling with laughter, and Liv nearly spilling her wine in delight. Meanwhile, Ewan’s eyes remain locked on yours, the tension between you undeniable.
Fabien, already catching on, cheers loudly. “Yes, mate!”
You cover your face with both hands, utterly speechless. “Oh my god,” you exclaim, trying to process the turn of events.
“Oh,” Emma starts, then repeats with more gusto, “OH! So you two…”

Some notes in the margins...
A little something mainly for the Ewan girlies... 😉
Oh, and Liv hinted at a past bonus chapter if you can catch it ~
Anyhow - this was fun! At least Ewan seemed to think to so at the end there. 🥃🍷🥂
