what was your most popular fic? what was your least popular fic?

lol by the numbers we can just repeat the above answer in the same order. YVOR is very, very close to not only being my most popular of 2022 but my most popular of all time by the numbers, in like a fraction of the time? it blows me away tbh. with TOWEBB, like, I didn't expect much from it really, it's less than 1k and it's just a little bit extra from an existing fic. it was still fun to write out a backstory idea from the hades/persephone verse i created though!

what fic didn't perform as well as you thought it would?

i only have one chapter of it posted, but don't you dream impossible things? has under performed from kinda what i was expecting i guess? idk its hard to say these days, a year post the season coming out while in a hiatus until who knows when means that it's really only the diehards still around for the time being, so i'm lowering my expectations here folks.

what fic performed way better than you expected it would?

all of you, all of me (intertwined) Desert!Fexi for sure. It was just a chance for me to write about T-Town and y'all ate that shit up. i think they will make a comeback sometime in 2023 when i'm not so busy with a billion WIPS like rn?

what was your favorite fic you wrote from 2022?

I think at this point we all know how I feel about YVOR. that fic is my child. BUT!!!! the stray lines that unwind you is probably what I go back and reread the most out of everything I've published in this last year. maybe ever actually? it was just a fun little slice of life to live in when i wrote it and has some of my favorite fexi interactions i've ever written.

what was your favorite fic that somebody else wrote in 2022?

oh so many. the talent in this fandom is beyond.

i will scream about And no drugs for Lexi Howard, bye. by @changeyourwholepitch to anyone who wants to listen to me. it's just perfectly smutty and delicious. i think about inspiration point by @actnatural-ly a fucking lot too. and Someone To Watch Over Me by @muserepeats never fails to fuck me up. i would be remiss to not point out that i love so many fics from @myztify. and also to remind @calculated2stagger that she makes me want to retire 😘 (yall its a joke okay?)

this messed up vintage cat sewing pattern has tormented me since i saw it & like some other folks have done in that post - i tried my hand at tweaking the pattern to resemble the illustration (and my personal tastes) a little more. i've ended up with this. i bestow it upon you nice folks now 👐

i went to a tiny counterserve diner once and accidentally poured sugar instead of salt all over my hashbrowns and was eating them sadly anyways. the waitress took them away and started making me another one and I tried to protest, but she just snorted and said "we're not catholic here". now every time i'm doing something painful out of obligation i think about how that is not repenting, this body is not a catholic establishment, there is no nobility in suffering.

Félix was expecting to find a Miraculous hidden away in his uncle’s house. He was not expecting to find a girl hidden away with it.

At first, he thinks she’s Ladybug; an understandable mistake, but one he doesn’t discover until he has her pinned to the wall, hands around her wrists. He’s under no delusions about his own strength, and he doesn’t expect to compete with a Miraculous holder — not yet, at least.

But Ladybug — or whoever it is that wears her face — doesn’t fight back. She doesn’t bring her knee up to connect with his stomach. She doesn’t rear back and ram her forehead into his nose.

Instead, she stares at him, wide-eyed.

Félix’s grip slackens. “Who are you?”

“You…you’re not supposed to be here,” she whispers. Even her voice sounds nothing like Ladybug’s: filled with fear instead of confidence. “If Mayura comes back—“

“She won’t find me,” he says. “You’re not Ladybug, are you?”

“No,” says the girl. “But sometimes I am.”

Her meaning is clear: they keep her in here every time she isn’t needed. A child’s doll, discarded by her owner. Locked away until the next time she was deemed fit to play with.

Félix’s nails dig into his fists. “They have your amok, don’t they?”

Sinking to her knees, she wraps her arms around herself. “You should go.”

“And leave you here?”

“I’ll be fine.” She forces a smile; it doesn’t look the least bit convincing. “They won’t hurt me.”

“They already are!” He gestures to all of her: the messy hair, the torn suit, the smile that is no longer there. Face sapped of life. Of hope. “You shouldn’t be here. You shouldn’t…”

He struggles for words, nothing he finds enough to describe the injustice of this. Of her.

She tilts her head like she doesn’t understand. “This is what I was made for,” she says. “Where else would I be?”

She’s so small on the floor like that. He was too, once.

Félix kneels down before her, extending a hand and brandishing his ring. The girl’s eyes slide over it and widen.

“Is that..? Are you…?” She looks at him as though she is seeing him for the first time. “You’re a sentimonster.”

“My name,” he corrects, “is Félix.”

“And you have your own amok? How?”

“You could have yours, too,” Félix tells her. “I can help you.”

The girl snaps back to herself at that, averting her eyes. “No, you can’t,” she says regretfully. “Chat Noir couldn’t keep me safe. Ladybug couldn’t keep me safe.”

“I’m not Ladybug,” he says, keeping his hand held out to her. “And neither are you.”

She studies him for a moment, deliberating. “I don’t have a name,” she says. She sounds ashamed, as though blaming herself for that instead of the monsters who did this to her.

“Make one,” he says. “That doesn’t matter. I’ll call you anything you want.”

“What if I don’t know what to choose?”

“Then I’ll help you.” Félix stares at her imploringly. “I won’t leave you. Not like they did.”

Her lips press together, and she comes to a decision. “It’s a keychain,” she says, putting her life in his hands, “of the Eiffel Tower.”

And her fingers intertwine with his.

I don't normally do Just Characters Swearing, but. ...this kind of wrote itself and then wouldn't leave my head. it comes from both a piece of character-writing advice that has always stuck with me, and also my conviction that Leona is 1000% funnier as a character if his dialogue has to stay G-rated. let Kalim say fuck, but don't let Leona say bastard.
