Aww, You Do Care
Pairing: Loki x female reader (Y/N)
Summary: You are an analyst for SHIELD and you are going for a simple surgical procedure. All of the Avengers wish you luck and Loki does his best to pretend he doesn't care.
Warnings: Loki being a little annoying but that's expected, mentions of a surgery happening but it isn't described and I skip from the day before to the day after so the surgery isn't shown at all
A/N: This is 100% self indulgent lol I'm actually going for this same surgery in the middle of August so I wanted to write how the team would respond to what was happening.
You close your laptop when the meeting ends and stand up, pushing in your chair. Loki stays seated in the chair next to you, finalizing his notes and Steve walks over to you from the other side of the table.
The super soldier pulls you into a tight hug and says, "Good luck tomorrow, Y/N."
"Thanks," you reply with a smile when he lets you go.
"My turn," Natasha says, pushing him aside. She hugs you tightly, "Good luck. Text me if you need anything."
"I will," you promise. "One of my friends is coming to stay with me for a few days so I should be okay."
Thor hugs you from behind, almost picking you up off the floor, "I hope everything goes well."
"Thanks," you laugh when he releases you.
Loki gets up, "Do you mind?"
He motions towards the door and you move out his way without saying anything to the God of Mischief. Tony rolls his eyes behind Loki's back then gives you a hug as well.
Loki stands with his hands in his pockets as he waits for the elevator and you join him silently.
"Why was the team so insistent on wishing you luck?" Loki asks without looking at you.
"I'm having an operation tomorrow," you answer.
"An operation?" Loki asks, his voice holds no emotion but you see a hint of worry in his eyes when he looks at you.
"It's not a big deal. I didn't bother to tell you cause I figured you wouldn't care," you shrug.
"I do not," he agrees and the doors open. "Out curiosity, not concern," he clarifies and you smile to yourself, looking down, "What type of surgery?"
You follow him into the elevator, "They are operating on my sinuses." You touch your cheeks then the bridge of your nose to indicate where the procedure will be performed.
"Why?" he asks, still trying to act as if he is unconcerned and merely curious.
You sigh, "You know how annoying you think it is when I can't stop sniffling or sneezing?"
"Yes," he nods. "It is quite irritating that you cannot breath silently and constantly sound as if you are unwell."
You roll your eyes but that was pretty much the response you expected from the younger prince. "Well it turns out there a reason I'm always kinda sick. There's something wrong with my sinuses so my doctor is going to remove the infected tissue and then reshape my sinus cavities so they work better," you tell him with a little description as possible.
"Oh," he nods, his eyes meet yours for a moment then he looks back at the elevator buttons.
"So, I'll need to find a new way to bother you since simply trying to breath won't do it anymore," you joke.
He chuckles, "I have no doubt you will find a way. You are one of the more tiresome Midgardians I have met."
"Hurtful," you tell him sarcastically when the doors open on his floor. "Try not to miss me too much. I'll be back in a few days," you wave when he steps out.
Just before the doors close fully Loki says, "Good luck, Y/N."
You stand alone in the elevator wondering if you had heard him correctly.
The day after the surgery, you lay in bed reading when your friend knocks on the open door to your bedroom. "You have a visitor," she says, pointing down the hall. "Feel like seeing anyone?"
You look at her a bit confused, a few of your friends were stopping by tomorrow afternoon but no one had texted about coming over today. "Umm, sure. Who is it?" you ask.
She shakes her head, "You wouldn't believe me if I told you."
"Oh... that's- okay. Yeah, you can let them in," you tell her hesitantly.
"Hello," Loki says when he walks into your bedroom a moment later.
You look at him, too stunned to respond as you sit up more in bed. You adjust your sheets and put the bookmark back in your book before setting it next to you.
"How are you feeling?" he asks, his eyes showing a hint of concern as he observes your post surgery face.
"You remember that time the hulk slammed you into concrete a bunch of times?" you ask him.
He nods, "Vividly, yes."
"Kinda like that expect face first," you point to the bruises covering your cheeks and bandages supporting your nose.
"Well..." Loki smirks, "You do look as if that is what happened."
"No, I wanted to bring you this," he conjures a small potted plant and you look at it in surprise. He puts it on your nightstand and says, "I heard it was customary to bring flowers when someone is in the hospital but you have said before that most flowers aggravate your allergies so that did not seem like a suitable option. I know you have several plants similar to this one in your office so I thought you might like it."
You laugh but stop yourself quickly, the muscles in your face are still incredibly sore. "That was mean," you tell him, touching your cheek lightly. "Did you just come here to tell me I look awful?" you ask in a joking tone.
"Wow," you say quietly, touching the green leaves gently. You look up at him and smile even though it hurts, "Aww Loki, you big softy, you do care."
"Do not tell anyone," he says seriously then he returns the smile, "But of course I care."
I hope you liked this!! Please like, share and comment if you did 💚💚 Please let me know if you want to be added to my taglist!

Kinktober Day 26- Zoro x F!Reader: Sex Pollen
Summary: While on an island, Zoro gets lost and accidently gets sick off of the strange plant life. His only cure...is you.
Warning: MINORS DNI, SMUT, sex pollen-you know if you know. Creampie
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
It had only been a few months since Luffy had convinced you to join his crew. You were deemed the 'babysitter' of the group. Watch this person, watch that one, it was stressful; however, a few months was all you needed to fall in love with the blockhead swordsman of the crew, Roronoa Zoro.
You had wanted to believe that Zoro shared the same feelings towards you, but he was a difficult man to read. You had confided your feelings to Nami and Robin and both had to wish you the best of luck.
"Gaaaaaaah!!! Something's wrong with Zoro!!!" Chopper cried out as Zoro collapsed on the deck.
You rushed over along with the others as Chopper checked on Zoro. Worry washed over you as you tried to offer your assistance to the cute ship's doctor.
"I said...I'm fine!" Zoro grunted as he tried to stand.
"No you're not! Did you do anything different on the island we were just on?!" Chopper lectured as he placed Zoro on the infirmary bed.
"Tch, just wandered into...a patch of flowers is all."
"The same flowers the residents told us to avoid?" You asked, placing your hand against his forehead, "You're burning up, Zoro."
"Hn!"
You bit your lower lip as Zoro grabbed your hand. His breathing was erratic and his pupils were blown. Chopper was still panicking as he tried to do some research, but this...this you knew was different.
"Chopper, I think I know what's wrong. Um, he just needs some private rest."
"Are you sure?" Chopper asked in all his cuteness. You felt bad for lying to him,
"Yeah, I just remembered what the villagers said. If you wander into the flowers, let the person sleep off the sickness. Um, only a person of opposite sex can stay...alone with the sick person."
"Okay!"
Ah, how your heart clenched for lying to Chopper. He was so innocent to believe your story that he left, allowing you to lock the door.
"(Y/N)," Zoro groaned, his body pressed against your back, "You should...have left too."
"How could I?" You shivered as his hands started to roam your body, "The villagers warned...mhm...me about those flowers."
Zoro grunted softly as he started to grind his hips against your ass. His kisses getting rougher against your neck as he kept pressing you against the door. Worried that someone will hear, you struggled to face Zoro, pushing him gently.
"(Y/N)," Zoro hissed as he grabbed your ass, "Let me have you,"
Feeling your body against the bed, you looked into Zoro's eyes. He looked like he was in pain. Smiling, you leaned forward to kiss Zoro as he continued to take your clothes off.
This wasn't how you were expecting your first time to be, but at least you were helping Zoro. The way he looked at you was intoxicating. Once he took his own clothes off, you nearly felt your pussy drench the bed at the sight.
Zoro was toned and his dick was massive. You were afraid that he wasn't going to fit.
"Z-Zoro-"
With a groan, Zoro captured your lips in a hungry kiss. His fingers rubbing against your clit before entering your pussy. You winced at first, finding it slightly uncomfortable, but started to enjoy it as Zoro kept pumping his fingers into you.
"Shit, I wanted...to savor you..." Zoro groaned as he took your breast into his mouth, "Fuck you right,"
"Ah~" You clenched against his fingers towards his words, "D-Does that...mean?"
"Let me eat you properly after this," Zoro took his fingers out, licking them clean, "Shit, taste so sweet."
Your heart was racing as Zoro confessed. He spread you legs and slowly slid his dick inside your folds. You gripped the bed sheets, groaning towards the pain. Zoro's dick was big. He was stretching you out.
"Tight," He groaned, finally entering balls deep inside you.
You only had a moment to catch your breathe before Zoro started to pound into you like a beast in heat. You grabbed the pillow to cover your moans but the room was filled the slapping of your bodies. His dick abusing your poor pussy with every slap.
"Fuck," Zoro hissed as he held your hips tightly.
You felt your eyes roll back as Zoro kept hitting your sweet spot. His tip kissing your cervix with every rough thrust. Your body was burning with heat as you gave into Zoro's harsh thrusts.
Unable to handle the intensity, you cam quickly. Your body unable to keep up to his pace. Zoro kept pounding inside you, groaning and moan with every thrust. Little by little, you felt yourself getting full, wondering if Zoro had cummed inside you without noticing.
"Z-Zoro~" You moaned, arching your back as you felt another orgasm building up. Zoro threw your legs over his shoulders, wanting to taste you even deeper than before,
"So good, (Y/N). More," He whimpered.
Honestly, it was so hard to deny him. Zoro was still in pain. Shivering as Zoro continued his rough pace, you felt your throat starting to hurt. It was hard to moan and your body was growing numb. You were starting to see stars.
-------
Feeling his vision start to clear up, Zoro panted heavily as he finally came back to his senses. Looking down, his eyes widen as he saw you breathing heavily, your eyes half open. Honestly, you had a delicious fucked out expression on your face.
Wincing, Zoro finally realized that you were like this because of him. His memory returning as he pulled his dick out of your pussy. His cum flowing out of you like a waterfall.
"Shit," Zoro hissed as he got off the bed.
Looking around for some cleaning wipes, Zoro did his best to wipe your body down. His attention focused on his cum pouring out of your pussy. Oh, how he wanted to fill you back up. Stroking your hair, Zoro grumbled that this had to be the first time he fucked you.
"Sorry, (Y/N), next time I'll be more careful."
"Mhm," You rested your head against his hand, smiling softly as you fell asleep. Zoro sighed heavily in response,
"Tch, didn't leave enough marks on you either."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hope you enjoyed!!!

Cremation is just another fun(erl) service
So blaming random 4am thoughts that have been plaguing me all day for this
----
Jason woke to a bright room, thin sheets and the smell of a hospital embedded in his body.
First as always, assess. Hospital. No affiliation printed on the walls or anywhere. Private room, but small. That door looked like it led to a private bathroom. Generic flower picture, a mounted screen turned off. Really fucking bright sunlight from the windows.
There was no fucking way he was in Gotham then. Everything was too nice. Normal by standards outside of Gotham. There were blinds, not metal shutters. The walls were cleaner than Gotham allowed outside of Downtown and he could see greenery through the window.
Okay. So what had he been doing? Jason remembered and then wished he had his Jerichos to shoot himself with. Mystic Shit™. Okay. Okay. That was not one of his better ideas, but if he's recovering in a hospital, it worked. World saved.
So recovery. How fucked was he?
His skin looked so fucked. Which meant he had been worse. He's had time to recover and lose muscle tone in, going by how twiggy his arms were. His hands looked good. Clearly someone knew he cared about those if they went through the effort of restoring those.
Hmm, that was odd. No matter how much Jason hated the Lazarus Pits and all its by-products, it would have been a faster and more simple way to recover from near-death than the long incarceration in a hospital for a John Doe.
Jason wasn't sure if he'd been abandoned yet again by those who called themselves his family because he could, "take care of himself," or if he had been written off dead. Again.
Hospital beat the coffin by a long shot.
And it was with that cheery thought, a nurse -obvious meta human nurse- came in and burst into excited Japanese, because that was of course, his luck.
It's after the nurse and doctors leave that Jason loses his shit.
It looks like he's sulking in bed, but mentally everything in his head is exploding. Imploding.
Three. Fucking. Years. Coma.
Burn victim so bad they not only expected him to die in the first couple of days, but still expect it because of the infection risk his fucked up skin represents.
Still the conversation with the medical staff -of varying degrees of bizarre- was enlightening.
No, he has no idea who he is. Did he ever get anyone visit? How did he get here?
Of course some amnesia is to be expected. No, some of the nurses visited. No one knows how he got here.
Does he know what his quirk is? Uh?
Trauma blocked amnesia, the doctor mutters.
What's the last date he remembered?
Saturday. Maybe? The last year? No, I'm pretty sure my memory is shit and I'm trying hard not to freak out over not knowing anything. So could I get the year number?
And then there's the fucking year number. Once he got it translated into more normal terms.
Mystic Shit™ said fuck you to the future.
Except Jason knows this is not his future. Again, if it was, this would have been treated as a fucking inconvenience. Effective skin restoration goop -the proper name escaped him- was easily available to those with the right connections. A normal baseline human with 2nd and 3rd degree burns would be fine in less than two weeks with it, with nary a trace to show for it.
Thanks to the three year coma, his muscles were all atrophied as fuck, despite their best attempts at physical therapy. Because of all the burns and later burn scars and infections making it basically impossible to actually do fuck all about maintaining muscle tone until he was basically burnt skin and bones anyway.
He was so fucking weak now. It wouldn't last forever. He'd escape this hospital before he was discharged, before whatever "benefactor" showed up for whatever "purpose," he was suppose to serve now, as they had the medical debt over his head or was threatening his loved ones or whatever. If one didn't show up in the next week, he was losing his genre-savviness, because shitheads always wanted to claim shit, if it looked useful.
And Jason was used to looking useful, until he was no longer useful and they just didn't care. The amnesia made him less shiny, but Jason couldn't pull off the brain dead zombie imitation without actually being a brain dead zombie crawling up out of his grave.
So under the thin hospital sheets, Jason twitched his muscles.
Two weeks of emotional freak outs, watching the news, physical therapy and drugs Jason had had enough.
And he broke out.
----
Yeah, he regretted it almost immediately. Hard not to in the stupid paper gown, barefoot and bare ass.
Thankfully people were people, even with the plethora of meta humans he had seen, so it actually wasn't hard to find clothes. Someone left a hoodie in their car and Jason broke into said car. Put on the hoodie. Hotwired the car and drove off.
Somehow for being in the fucking future by two centuries and change, cars really hadn't changed. More evidence of Mystic Shit™ slamming him sideways.
He drove to the next town over, picked another direction, drove some more. Parked the car near what looked like a chop shop, negotiated the car for some money. He probably got ripped off, but better than nothing.
He walked to a corner store, bought some flip-flops after bullshitting an excuse that his had broken. First aid stuff. You know, for his feet. Hair dye in three different colors, because Rose Wilson could pick out a bad dye job at a hundred meters and so Jason learned how to dye his own hair properly so as to avoid her mockery, only to get mockery (affectionate) anyway.
It was a mix of instinct and lifelong observation that let him find an empty apartment quickly. He stole some sweatpants and passed out on the bed.
----
The thing is, Jason doesn't regret his crimes like Bruce thinks he ought to do, with a massive pity party and flaming self-hatred and punching criminals instead of shooting them. He hates the necessity of doing crimes, even if that crime is a net gain to society, but that's why all his serious crimes are premeditated. He's homicidal, not a psychopath.
Not Pit-mad either, no matter what the rest of them might have thought.
Again, he's homicidal, not a psychopath. And when he doesn't have to be some sort of costume soldier to be discarded by family for the disgrace of disfiguring the memory of a dead boy? He's actually chill and boring.
That is to say, he crashed at that apartment for three days, felt progressively more like himself, especially after the dye job -white hair all over, now a solid and boring black- but it still didn't change all the other issues the Mystic Shit™ inflicted on him.
This body isn't actually his. Too young, scars not right where the burns didn't fuck him over. Thankfully his existing coping mechanisms for dysphoria work and it's shoved to the side.
It's also a shit body. Not even a month out of a three year coma with inadequate -by his standards- of medical care. It's weak and building muscle to do everyday civilian shit, is going to take months to do. Pushing as hard as he did during the escape wrecked him the next three days. Jason may not know what's going to happen, but with his luck, it's going to suck and training is preparing to make it suck less. The only certainty he's got is that his skin or lack thereof is going to kill him from infection if he doesn't fix it.
He's got no legal identity here. Which basically puts him back onto familiar ground of legally dead.
Beyond the lack of paperwork, he's got a lack of funds. He also has no easy target to steal funds and equipment from, even just for fun.
For more disadvantages, he's in a different country, with different laws and a whole different culture. He would be climbing on board a fucking plane to Gotham, if it existed in this world, for some familiar ground.
He really is the unluckiest Robin. It also means he is also the most prepared Robin.
---
The first six months after waking up in this mockery world of heroics were the absolute worst.
He started at one foot in the grave and crawled out of it before the casket could really eat him alive. Jason had experience in casket busting. He didn't wanna repeat it.
He still didn't know who he was -in who was he inhabiting- but it wasn't like Jason had a lot to go on. 'His' quirk was thermo-manipulation, most obviously in the blue fire he could call to his hands but he could do some ice too; it was thanks to Duke's light and shadow manipulation that he had even tried for the duality. He had white hair. Presumably Japanese heritage but quirks had really erased or blurred a lot of racial lines. Also presumed dead and young.
Access to the Quirk Registry took some doing, but again, not everyone followed basic computer security, much less what it took to keep someone bat-trained out of their systems. Again, for nearly two centuries in the future, a lot of the technological development had stagnated. Searching through the Quirk Registry hadn't yielded any result but none of his other methods had struck anything either. And he had looked at the recently dead and/or presumed dead. Sure, he had some leads that looked viable, but he wasn't going to follow those up yet.
He had fixed a few of his most pressing issues the past six months. His ignorance of the local area, the local and national politics and so on. This world supported and had an entire industry catering to making child soldiers and sell their image and reputation to make money and more child soldiers that called themselves Heroes.
His weak ass body no long cried doing daily tasks and only hated him after working out. Yes, Jason was pushing it but he was well aware of how months of preparation could mean shit in the face of seconds.
His infection risk was severely reduced after quick research bender let him make the most generic knock-off brand of the skin restoration goop in a shitty homemade lab. Did it fix his skin being patchwork fucked in places? Some. He wasn't going to get feeling back properly, but at least he looked more normal. Maybe with enough moisturizing he might look a little less Frankenstien's monster.
He also had a cash inflow. It wasn't great, but it supported his apartment. And the second set of papers. And the 2nd apartment.
Which meant in grand old tradition for Jason, time for him to bounce to the next apartment and come up with a new name.

Masterlist
You were growing to hate hospitals. The sterile smell, white walls, floors and ceilings, doctors and nurses wearing those annoying scrubs that made everything much more depressing.
You were growing to hate light colors.
Tired of reading, you took a sip of your water bottle, eyeing your mother's asleep form on the hospital bed. She was pale, with dark circles under her eyes and tubes everywhere. She was stable, but they had no idea when she would wake up.
Or if she would.
"She got lucky." The doctor said to your grandma, after explaining the after a car accident of that nature, your mother being alive was a miracle.
You didn't think of luck at all. Not when you got out of school earlier, seeing your grandpa in tears while he crushed your limbs in a hug, sobbing in your hair and repeating like a prayer that everything was gonna be okay.
Your sweet, cheerful and loud mother have been at such a state for so long. Two months in, and you could hear the nurses gossiping when they thought you were asleep cuddling your mother.
"Keeping this patient is useless. She's as good as dead".
You started to lose hope, but you couldn't give up. Your mother had to come back at some point.
She was the only person you could count in. Of course, your grandparents were great, but a child's place is with their parents. Or just your mother, in your case.
When you were younger you pried as much as you could, but she would refuse to tell you anything about your father, only telling you that he walked out on her before he even knew she was pregnant and she never heard of him since.
Somehow, you didn't believe her.
But after the accident that almost took your mother from you, you couldn't really care less about a father that you never knew.
And as the time passed by, all you did was pray that your grandparents didn't lose hope too. After all, the decision to keep the life support on was theirs.
"You can either tell me what the hell is going on or I can just gut you like a pig, which one is gonna be?" Lloyd grinned at one of his spies. The man had been working for him for years now, a record that was getting Lloyd uneasy.
He would have to kill him soon.
"I found something interesting, that's all." The man replied, and poured a generous dose of whiskey on one of the glasses that was by Lloyd's coffee table.
Lloyd looked at him, amused.
"I didn't realize you had a death wish, getting yourself comfortable with my Scotch and everything."
"It's not for me, Hansen. It's for you." Klaus replied, emotionless.
Lloyd sat up, getting tense. Klaus passed him the glass, and he almost gave in the impulse to use it to break the moron's skull.
"I'm gonna ask again, and if I don't get a straight answer my gun is gonna get friendly with your brains." Lloyd took the gun from the holster and aimed at the man's head.
"Your ex fiancée is in a coma".
Lloyd let a breath out.
"And that's all this fucking tension about? Why would I give a fuck about that bitch? It's been more than thirteen years-"
"She has a daughter about that age." Klaus cut the infuriated Lloyd. "She looks a lot like you. Blue eyes, dark hair. Same dental arch..."
The same motherfucking asshole smile. He wanted to complete, but kept his mouth shut. Lloyd was impulsive and unpredictable, and after working with him for long enough, anyone would get a taste of almost getting murdered by him on his multiple mood swings.
Lloyd's head tilted to side.
Oh fuck.
"So, you're saying that I'm stupid enough to get some bitch pregnant by accident?"
"You popped the question to her, thought."
"I was young and stupid."
"And now, you're just stupid."
"For the sake of our fake friendship I'm gonna let that slide. And why were you even sneaking into her shit, anyway?"
"I wasn't. Do you remember the bounty you collected two months ago on that senator's head?"
"How could I forget?" Lloyd rolled his eyes. "It was a hell of a car chase."
"Well, the senator driver's car crashed into hers."
...
Lloyd really loved irony. But not when it came to bite his ass back.
After Klaus showed him some pictures of you in the hospital your mother were in, not even him could deny. You looked exactly like him, but with long hair and without a mustache in your baby face.
"Fuuuuuck!" He threw the glass across the room, hitting the wall, and getting it smashed into million pieces.
His sneaky job almost got his daughter's mother killed, for fucks sake. How would he tell you that? Did he even want to face you?
Klaus kept quiet while Lloyd threw his tantrum. Then, he spoke:
"When am I taking you to her?"
Lloyd turned to face him, angry.
"I'm not gonna meet some brat just because I found out she came from my balls!"
He couldn't really care less about your mother. He loved her (or thought he did) and then it was over. It was okay, he got over it. But he was not about to meet a child he knew he never wanted.
And what benefit would he bring to your life, dragging you to his mess?
Lloyd made up his mind. He would just ignore your existence.
"In what room is she, again?"
"301, boss." Klaus replied, trying to hide the smirk on his face.
Lloyd rolled his eyes, but chose to ignore him nonetheless. He was neither soft nor wanted to be a dad, but he was a curious motherfucker. So, the next day, first thing after knowing you were out of school, he made Klaus take him to the hospital.
"I'm here to see my daughter. Her mom's on the room 301."
The receptionist, who was not really interested, just pointed directions and waved him off. When he got in front of the door, he almost chickened out.
Oh, come on, he was not to be afraid of some child.
Even if it was his.
So, he knocked on the door. He knew you'd be there. You've never left your mother's side after school hours, and your grandparents didn't mind indulging you.
He heard a soft "Come in!" and took a deep breath before finally turning the doorknob.
It was a lot to take in.
Your mom, the only woman he ever loved, looking small, pale and pathetic. It was nothing like the girl he knew in her teens, bubbly and all-smiles.
Then, he saw you. Looking at him wide-eyed, and how the blue in your irises were similar to his. Your dark brown hair, that would match his if he didn't dye it jet black. Your nose were your mother's: a cute button on your rosy face, as well as your pouty lips.
"Who are you? I think you are in the wrong room."
You inquired. He could tell you were afraid of him. Arms crossed on your chest, biting your upper lip nervously.
He cleared his throat.
"I'm... Your father." It surprised him how he didn't sound anything like his usually cocky self. Your eyebrows rose, and you scoffed.
"Went to buy a pack of cigarettes and never found your way back to my mom?" You sassed.
"That's not fair! First of all, I don't smoke. And second, I had no idea your mom was pregnant! I would chase her to hell if I did. She was the one that left, ended things and disappeared like I meant nothing!" Lloyd pointed his index finger to you, incredibly offended.
"Which makes me think what kind of fuck-up you are if she ran away from you, then." You retorted, and noticed his reddened face.
"What's with all this prejudice? I could be the nicest fucking person you know. Maybe I have an animal shelter, ever thought of that? What if I read to old people in asylums in my spare time?"
"Do you?"
"No, but that's not the point here, young lady."
"Do you know how do I know you are not the nicest person? You said a bad word." You pointed, lips curling upwards.
"You said it first!" He accused, and this time, you grinned.
Maybe your mom left him because he was a man child, after all?
Your smile faded. You looked at your mother, and she nothing about her changed. Not even her heartbeat. You thought that perhaps she would get an incentive having your so-called-father in the room after such a long time.
"What's your name?" Lloyd asked, and you huffed.
"Why are you still here?
"I'm not leaving until I get to know you. My name's Lloyd, by the way. Lloyd Hansen. What's your name?"
"Get out!" You let out an exasperated sigh, regretting it immediately. You've always been curious about who your father were, and now you had the chance to.
"Do you really want me to?"
The pout that formed on his lips almost made you laugh again. Okay, he was charming, you had to give him that. So, against your better judgement, you gave in.
"No, please stay."
Lloyd didn't know if it was the sad way you almost pleaded for him to not leave, but he felt like a magnet was pulling him towards you, and you got up of the chair, sitting on your mother's bed and pointing the chair to him.
He sat and started fidgeting with his fingers.
"I'm Y/N. I'm thirteen. I like to read, but I'm also lazy and my mom's always scolding me to study more. That's me in a nutshell." You finally said, feeling a little disappointed that you had nothing better to say.
"Sounds like a normal thirteen-year-old to me. Have you ever killed an animal?"
"Excuse me, what?"
"Just kidding!" Lloyd said, fast. He noticed the change in your demeanor, which meant that topic probably upset you. He'd make sure to find out about that later.
"Oh my god, have you?" Your jaw dropped, finally putting two and two together. "It's that why my mother left you? You are some kind of psycho that tortures animals?"
"I don't torture animals!" Just people, Lloyd thought. "It was an innocent question, okay?"
"Yeah, you sound really normal to me." You rolled your eyes. "Get the fuck out, Lloyd. Or I'm gonna call the cops on you, being my father or not, which I don't believe you are by the way."
"Okay, in case you haven't noticed, you look exactly like me and nothing like her."
"You're not the only man with blue eyes and dark hair in the world, Lloyd."
"I totally agree with you on that, and this is why I brought this!" Lloyd announced, taking a ziplock bag out of his pocket with a q-tip inside of it.
"What the hell is this?"
"Open your mouth, kiddo!" He grinned at you, getting closer with the q-tip between his index and thumb.
"I'm not giving you my DNA, you creep!"
"Okay, hard way it is." He sighed, almost sadly. "I love you."
Your jaw dropped again, and he took the opportunity to stick the q-tip in your tongue, collecting the saliva. Before you could shriek, he put it back in the ziplock.
"You fucking asshole!" You yelled. "I'm calling the security-"
"Keep your voice down." He warned you, and you whimpered at the sudden change on his behavior. Then, he got up and gave you a smile. "It was nice catching up with you, kiddo. Toodles!"
You were still stunned when he left.
Days went by, and you haven't seen Lloyd since. Part of you were angry at yourself for being disappointed by that, but you just shrugged it off and told yourself it was better that way.
And it was really surprising when your class was over and you saw him leaning against a black car with black windows, with sunglasses adorning his face. He had his arms crossed over his chest, a lollipop on his mouth and that fucking weird mustache still on his face.
"Ready to go home?" He asked, almost bored when you finally reached him.
"Are you insane? You look like a creep! You're gonna freak the other kids out, Lloyd!"
"Okay, I was expecting a nicer greeting from you. Haven't you missed me?"
"No." You lied. "I'm not going anywhere with you, you could be a child molester for all I know."
"All right, now you've really offended me." He threw the lollipop on the curb and took the sunglasses off. "Don't even joke about that, I'm not that kind of sicko. Get in the fucking car right now, and don't make a scene."
Gritting your teeth, you let him open the passenger door for you and got inside his car. It was probably really expensive, with nice leather seats and everything.
"My grandparents are gonna kill you." You stated when he got in the driver's seat and turned the engine on.
"They're not doing shit, kiddo. I paid a little visit to them earlier, and they agreed to let me take you with me for a little while. They didn't even fight, by the way." Then, he leaned closer, like telling you a secret. "I don't think they like you that much."
"Oh, you're insufferable! Did you threaten them? Did you hurt them? Lloyd, I swear to god-"
"I didn't do shit!" He snapped, gripping the steering wheel in his hands. "Your grandparents fucking owe me for screwing everything up for me, now keep your mouth shut and enjoy the ride!"
"What the hell do you mean by that?"
"Didn't I just tell you to shut up?"
"Fine!" You screamed in defeat. If he wanted you to stay quiet, you were going to give him the silent treatment. He turned the radio on, with a satisfied smile on his face.
Lloyd drove like a drunk teenager, getting angry honked at in a ridiculous amount of times in just a few minutes. If you were still on speaking terms with him, you would've scolded him for that.
It was when he ran the red light that your panic attack came. You started hyperventilating, feeling sweat in your palms, and you chest tightened at the dread that cursed through your veins.
He side-eyed you, noticing how you were grabbing the seat with white knuckles.
"Hey, kiddo, be nice to my car."
You didn't move, though. You closed your eyes, feeling your head starting to spin. Oh no. You were about to throw up.
"Hey, what the fuck is wrong with you? I told you to-"
He got cut off by the sight of the tears streaming down your face, and he slowed down. You finally felt your breath coming down to normal, and you sobbed.
Lloyd pulled over on the street, and you opened the door as fast as you could, just in time for you to vomit in the curb. He put his hand on your back and you stiffened, but calmed down when he stroke it gently.
"I'm sorry, kiddo." He felt like a dick. He realized you were probably terrified of cars now that your mother had been in an accident. You kept silent and finally closed the door, wiping your mouth with your sleeve.
He drove slower then, leaving town on the main road and approaching the countryside. When he entered a nice trail and stopped in front of a giant iron gate, you almost rolled your eyes. Of course this prick was rich.
The area looked lovely all the same. You could picture yourself leaning against the big oak tree while reading a book, a tire swing on the lowest branch.
Lloyd finally turn of the car, and turned to you.
"Before we go there let's just go over the basic rules. Not calling me daddy: it's Lloyd for you. Not testing my patience. Not sneaking into my things. And just so you know, I'm not above beating a child. It's better if you know your place by now.
You didn't spare him a second glance and got out of the car, adjusting your school bag on your shoulder. Why was he such an ass? It wasn't like you wanted to be there. You were perfect fine vegetating by the side of your vegetating mother.
You followed him inside, admiring the immaculate white floor, the tapestry and all that expensive shit that looked extremely nice. His grand foyer had two staircases, and a giant chandelier hang on top of it.
"The first room on the left is yours. Mine is on the right. Do not go into my room. Or any other rooms. If you get bored just take a nap or something." He clarified. You couldn't bite back the remarks anymore.
"So you just brought me here to patronize me?" You asked him in an angry tone.
"Patronize you? Oh, your mother raised a little feminist, didn't she? Bet you despise all men and all that bravado." He mocked you.
"No, you're actually the only man I despise, Lloyd. Don't worry. I'll stay out of your way, I don't feel like torturing myself by spending time willingly with you." You spat back and went upstairs on the left staircase. When you got in the midway he yelled at you:
"By the way, the kitchen is free and open 24/7. Don't go starving on me, kiddo!"
You gave him the could-shoulder and opened the first door on the left, looking wide-eyed at the interior.
There was a four-post bed, with luxurious tule canopy adorning with the purple comforter set. On both sides of the bed, twin nightstands that had the same royal-looking lampshades. In the center of the room, a fur round white rug, with a coffee table and two baby pink armchairs around it.
There was a vanity table that was also white on the corner, and the wall facing the bed had two doors. It was probably the closet and the bathroom.
On the other wall, two french windows that had beautiful creme colored curtains. The walls had a flowery wallpaper, and coming from the high ceiling a pending light.
"Pretty fucking awesome, right?"
You let out a shriek, holding your chest in your hand. When did he get behind you? Sweet Jesus.
"Don't I even get a "Thank you, Lloyd, for your kindness"? I did redecorate it, you know. I started doing it even before I got the lab results on your DNA."
You turned your head to him.
"Oh, yeah, about that. 99,9% your father. We still got a lot of catching up, don't we, daughter?"
"It's Y/N for you." You told him and put your bag on the bed, making an acquaintance with it. That mattress would surely be a problem when you'd have to get up to go school. "Where are my things, by the way? I need my stuff."
"Your grandma packed you a suitcase with your things. I threw your old laptop out, and bought you a new one. A new phone too. It's all set up for you. There are new toiletries in your bathroom, and I don't know if you wear makeup or not so I bought anyway and put in your vanity.
That was nice, but you didn't care.
"I want to see my mom."
"No, you don't. You're not spending the rest of your life by her side, that's not healthy."
Your face heated up in anger.
"You don't have a say in that! I want to see my mom! What if she wakes up and I'm not there?" You yelled, and he just scoffed.
"Then I take you to her the minute she does. Now suck it up and be nice for a change, will ya?"
He left and closed the door. You hid your face in the pillow and screamed, crying until your head hurt.
It was almost eight p.m. and Lloyd spend the rest of the afternoon in his office, yelling at people over the phone and doing boring paperwork for Carmichael.
It was a nice distraction, because he didn't knew what the hell he was going to do with you. He would not be parading you in public, he had too many enemies to pull a stunt like that.
Maybe bringing her here was a mistake, he sulked. But he couldn't just let you go, not now that his most trusted man insisted he took a paternity test and arranged a nice bedroom for you in his home.
He could send you away at any moment, thought. He'd never get attached to an insolent mini him just because she was cute and shit.
Oh no. Nope. Not going in that territory. It was foreign, dangerous and he couldn't go back once he got there.
When he looked at his watch he cursed. He'd had to make something for you to eat (and hire a cook).
Lloyd sighed when he reached the kitchen. It wasn't that he was a malfunctioning adult, but he couldn't cook if his life depended on it. He took no shame in admitting that he ate instant noodles when he wasn't dining at a nice restaurant, but he couldn't let you eat that crap everyday.
He googled an easy recipe. Thank God he'd made time to do the groceries, otherwise you two would have to go out to eat, which was a big no for him.
But he didn't know where his kitchenware was. Or what to cook. Or how to.
Okay, you'd survive with instant noodles tonight, he decided.
"What are you doing?"
"OH MY GOD!" Lloyd screamed, seeing your post-sleep face behind him. "Don't you ever sneak on me like that, I might end up shooting you, you little shit!"
You glared at him.
"Do you own a gun, Lloyd? Are you some mafia lord or something?" You pried, curiously.
"What I do is none of your business, and if someone asks you about me, you'll play dumb, which I suspect it won't be hard for you."
The harshness in his voice made you change the topic really quick.
"At least I'm not dumb enough to not know how to cook a meal. Now get out of my way while I make something for us to eat." You sassed at him and opened the fridge, looking for meat. You could feel his gaze burning into you, but paid no mind to him.
In thirty minutes, you had the meat seasoned and sitting nicely in the oven, while you made some salad.
Lloyd was sitting in one of the chairs by the counter, angry-texting someone.
"Dinner's ready!" you hummed, feeling your mouth watering at the smell. You got two plates in the cupboard and offered one to Lloyd, who gladly took it from you and started serving himself. You suspected he was quite hungry, but said nothing to spoil his sudden good mood.
After finishing your diner, you put the dishes away and soaked a sponge with water and detergent before scrubbing them, absent minded.
"When did you learn how to cook?" Lloyd asked you, too stubborn to compliment you.
"My mom taught me when I was tall enough to reach the oven and do the dishes. Told me I had to be independent and all."
"You two are pretty close, huh?"
"Well, she did raise me by herself."
"Okay, now you're just being an asshole."
That earned a grin from you.
Since it was Saturday, Lloyd decided that he would let you sleep until noon if you wanted to. He was reading his newspaper (okay, he was actually trying to solve the crosswords) while the maids mopped the floors and dusted the things.
He was surprised when he saw you dragging your little feet down the stairs, hair everywhere, yawning and wearing plaid pants with a black strap top.
"Slept well, kiddo?"
"Very." You replied, rubbing your eyes. "What are we doing today? And why do you have so many maids? Can I see my mom just for a while?
"Why do you ask so many questions?" Lloyd whined. "Thank God I wasn't around when you started to speak. Must've drove your mom out of her goddamn mind. Okay, how about we go shopping today? We can even have ice cream after, what do you think?"
"What about mom?"
"She's not going anywhere, is she?"
"Fuck you." You spat.
Lloyd was stunned. He tore his gaze from the newspaper to you, and before he could scold you, you were running back to your room.
"That's not very nice, kiddo!" He yelled. "Say that to me again and I promise you'll be regretting it!"
"Sir?" One of the maids, a middle-aged woman, hesitantly spoke to Lloyd. "The girl was crying."
Lloyd sighed. He knew you for less than a month and you were already being an annoyance. His patience was running thin, he didn't know how much more of you attitude he could take before snapping.
He knocked on your door, and heard you sniffling.
"Go away!"
"Okay, kiddo! I hope you're decent right now, because I'm coming in!" Lloyd announced before opening the door to you with your face buried in the pillow.
He sat on the bed, and you moved further from him when you felt the mattress sinking by your side.
"I'm sorry." That you are a little drama queen, he wanted to add. "Guess jokes about your mom are off limits, then?"
You said nothing, raising your middle finger to him with your face still on the pillow. He chuckled.
"So, we're even? Because I'm not having you talking back to me all the time, kiddo. At some point I'm gonna lose my shit and the moment that happens, I only hope for your sake that you're a good runner."
Your chest rose lightly, a sound of muffled laughter coming from you.
For a little while, things were good. Great, even. And that's how Lloyd sensed some shit would hit the fan at any moment.
Maybe you were too excited to finally have a father figure in your life, but you were actually happy for the first time after your mom's accident. Lloyd would have a chauffeur take you and pick you up from school, and you'd visit your mom once a week.
Your grandparents would go to Lloyd's house to see you and check on you (you learned later that it was their "arrangement" because Lloyd actually had something to hold over their heads).
You were eating chocolate ice cream while rocking softly in a bench swing Lloyd had people built for you with him on your side drinking his Scotch.
"I killed a cat once."
You said it so casually as if you were talking about the weather, and Lloyd choked so hard on his drink that you had to pat his back.
He stared at you with tears in his eyes, still coughing.
"Well, it was an accident. I was three or four? I don't remember. Mom had found a cute grey kitten and she sheltered him for a few days in our home. I was so excited to have a cat!" You hesitated a little, and frowned at the memory. "One day, mom was cooking dinner and I hugged the cat. Hard. I suffocated him, and when mom found us she lost her mind."
"She yanked my arm really hard and screamed so harshly at me that I still have flashes of that moment. I cried, because I had no idea what was happening, and I didn't realized I've killed it."
"We never talked about that again, but I think my grandparents found out what happened later, because I spent some time living with them after that. They weren't on speaking terms with mom, and when she got me back they would supervise us and shit."
Lloyd considered you for a while.
"I appreciate us bonding over this happy story, but why are you telling me this now?"
"Because now I realize why she reacted that way, and why she disappeared on you. When you asked me if I had ever killed an animal when we first met, it didn't cross my mind. But then, I had a feeling. Killing animals in childhood is a classical sign of psychopathy. Mom overreacted because she thought I was just like you, Lloyd."
You looked over Lloyd with a little grin on your face.
"Stop being cute, kiddo. And just so you know, I'm a sociopath, there's a little difference. I wasn't sure that was the reason your mom left me, maybe she finally realized I really was fucked in the head in an irredeemable way. I reached out to her only once, and your grandfather got in the way and told me to leave her alone. They told me a little while ago that they knew about the pregnancy and they wanted to keep you from having me around."
"Well, the effort didn't matter in the end, but okay."
"And the fact that I'm a sociopath doesn't bother you?"
You shrugged.
"Not really. You could be worse, it's not like you killed mom or something."
Lloyd tried to keep his cool. He was fucked.
You tiptoed the stairs, trying to make the smallest noise possible. Lloyd made you pinky promise him that you were going to stay in your room, but you were so hungry! And it didn't help you that he filled the kitchen with your favorite snacks.
You sighed in relief when you got some chips, a Ben & Jerry's cup and a bar of Hershey's. You hugged your food and when turned to go to your room, you screamed.
A man, about Lloyd's age, eyed you up and down, smirking.
"Damn, you're a bit young for him, aren't ya pretty thing?"
You cringed so hard at the way he said it, feeling disgusted. You just walked past him, trying to go back to your room as fast as possible, but he grabbed your arm, making you drop your snacks.
"Tell me, pretty girl... How old are you? Fifteen, fourteen... Wouldn't be my youngest, though."
You wanted to kill him with your bare hands. With renewed animosity, you kicked his groin as hard as you could, and he let go of you to hunch to his front, wailing.
Before you could react, you heart a gunshot. The man's head blew with the impact, his body dropping to the kitchen floor and staining the impeccable floors. You were so shocked that you couldn't move.
"Go hide behind that door. Don't come out until I go there, you hear me?" Lloyd asked, voice hushed. He was already dragging you to the pantry room and locking you there. "Stay fucking quiet, kiddo."
You heard more gunshots and some yelling, and you laid on the floor, hugging your head as best as you could, your heart hammering in your chest.
All of this lasted maybe five minutes, but it felt like fucking hours. You were beginning to imagine the worse. Maybe someone hurt Lloyd, and he wouldn't come to save you.
When you heart the lock of the door, you tried to drag yourself under a shelf, dropping everything.
Okay, you were screwed. You screeched when Lloyd's hand forced you on your feet, feeling so relieved that you hugged him.
He froze. And then, he explode:
"What the FUCK were you thinking? Coming out of your fucking room, knowing I had people over? Do you realize how dumb you were? Do you know what could happen to you if they realized you are my child?"
"I didn't know..." you tried to defend yourself.
"I TOLD YOU! I fucking told you Y/N, don't come out of your room when there's people over. They could be armed and they could kill you! You-" he interrupted himself, trying to find words to say. "You're grounded! For the rest of your life!"
"I already apologized!" you cried out, annoyed.
He took a deep breath.
"So what? You still could've get yourself killed!" He started raising his voice again. "If you get yourself killed, what the fuck am I supposed to do, huh? Ever thought about that?"
Oh. You just realized it wasn't about you disobeying him (or making he kill so many people).
He cared about you.
"Maybe I would finally be in peace, without you nagging at me every fucking hour." You defied, chin up.
He sighed. And somehow, you knew you were in deep trouble. You swerved from him, his fingers barely grazing on your skin.
You let out a little scream while you ran from him, who was chasing you like a madman. You got in the nearest room and locked the door, breaking in a fit of hysterical laughter.
You were so fucked right now.
"You fucking brat! Open the fucking door right now so I get to beat the shit out of you!"
"No!" You managed to yell back between laughing and sobbing.
"Get out of that way, I'm breaking this fucking door!"
"I'm gonna throw myself out of the window!" you threatened.
"I FUCKING DARE YOU! You little bitch! We are in the first floor! Go ahead, we're just getting started!"
You yelped when you heard his body colliding with the door, and ran to the window. You managed to escape just before the wood broke under the pressure of Lloyd's rage. You ran through the back of his house, the chilling breeze doing nothing to you as you were pure adrenaline.
You yelled when he grabbed your middle and threw you over his shoulder, putting you down almost immediately.
"My fucking back!" Lloyd snapped, annoyed and panting, with his hand on his lower back. You burst into giggles. This bastard of a man could have his hands bloody, but how he managed to be so ridiculous doing so never ceased to amaze you. "Think this is fucking funny? The only reason I'm not beating you right now is because I'm tired, okay?"
"I thought we were just getting started." You teased him, and he started to chase you again.
Later that night, Lloyd had Klaus taking the three bodies out of the house. As you scrubbed the floors to clean the blood (Lloyd's punishment for you) you couldn't help but joke:
"You just traumatized me, dude. I'll probably need lots of therapy and shit to recover."
"I think you'll survive." He replied coldly, leaning against the wall while he watched you.
"I had no idea a head could just blow up like that!" You continued. "I think there's some brain under my nails."
"Shut the fuck up. This is your fault."
"I don't feel guilty though. The man thought I was some plaything to you, he even said that he had younger girls... I'm glad he's dead."
"Not that I'm complaining that you are being surprisingly brave, but I think it's best if we hide your... Tendencies. At least in front of other people. Okay, kiddo?" He said and turned to leave to his office.
"Okay da-Lloyd." You corrected yourself before you could actually say the word Dad. Lloyd stopped in his tracks. "Lloyd, I'm so sorry, it slipped! I promise you I'm never doing that again."
He didn't turn to face you. You thought that was it, he was mad at you but would let it slide. You never saw the tears forming in the corner of his eyes, because all he wanted right now was for you to see him as your father.
It didn't take long for things to go down to shit. Lloyd was having a surprisingly smooth day, going to the city to have a meeting with Klaus and the rest of his minions. He left you alone in the house and when he got back and saw you sobbing on the front porch he something was terribly wrong.
He barely walked out of his car when you came at him, angry and punching his chest with your tiny fists.
"YOU ASSHOLE! YOU'RE THE REASON MY MOM GOT IN THAT DAMN ACCIDENT!"
He couldn't control your anger, tossing and screaming at him, punching and slapping and kicking. And he let you. Because he knew it was what he deserved.
When you were tired out, he tried to hug you, but you flinched away from him, letting such a pity cry come out from your throat that he felt like the Grinch when his heart grew so big it broke into his chest.
He could feel his heart breaking too.
"Y/N, I'm so sorry, you have to believe me when I say it wasn't on purpose. My minions were chasing this really bad guy, and his car crashed into your mother's."
You said nothing, the tears rolling down your cheeks, your eyes puffy and nose red.
"I had no idea of her whereabouts after she broke things off with me all those years ago, you have to believe me when-"
"When you say you were just chasing a bad guy? Like you aren't one? Should I believe this was some sick coincidence, when you are rotten to the core, Lloyd?" you cut him off, the words cruelly coming out of your mouth. "My grandparents are coming to pick me up. I don't wanna see your face ever again. I wish it was you who got hurt, not my mom."
Your grandparents arrived shortly after that, and by their short "Hellos" and "Goodbyes" Lloyd could say they knew everything too.
But how did you find that out?
Later, drowning the second bottle of Scotch in his office, when the gears in his mind finally stopped turning.
That asshole.
Klaus' lifeless body slipped from Lloyd's grasp. His motivation to reveal the truth about your mother's accident couldn't be pettier. Lloyd always knew that snake would betray him, but he hadn't expect it to hurt so fucking bad.
He got his most trusted men to keep an eye on you, and for weeks he got little news on you, the aching on his heart always there. When he found out that your mom had a brain death, all the hope of getting your forgiveness left him.
Still, he couldn't just leave you on your own.
Lloyd watched as you placed white flowers on your mother's grave, your hair messy and some streaks falling from your bun.
You suddenly turned to him, feeling watched. You rolled your eyes when you recognized the mustache, scoffing in annoyance. Lloyd took careful footsteps towards you, his hands on his pockets.
"I'm sorry, kiddo."
"You already said that." You replied softly, tired of arguing and tired of grieving.
"No, Y/N. I'm sorry I wasn't around to guide you through your early years. I'm sorry I wasn't enough that your mother felt like raising you by herself would be better than doing it with me. I'm sorry for storming into your life and messing you up, and I'm sorry for all the pain I put you through, and I promise you, it wasn't on purpose. I'd never hurt you on purpose. I'm sorry I'm not a good father." He finished, his eyes watering. You sniffed and gave in, hugging him and sharing your heartbreak.
You already lost a parent. You couldn't just turn your back on the other. You turned your head to him, still in his embrace:
"Take me home, dad. We have a lot of catching up to do."
Lloyd happily complied. This time, he would make it right.

You okay? - Will Halstead
requested: yes
word count: 1,352
warnings: mention of doctory stuff, nothing bad
a/n: i wouldn't mind him yelling at me tbh
Masterlist
"Are you here to make fun of me?" "No, I'm actually just here to make sure you're okay."
You wish you could say that you got off on the right foot with Dr. Will Halstead. ‘Wish’ being the key word there. But no, your first day as at the hospital consisted of three, three different interactions with the taller doctor.
All of which were horrid. First you spill coffee all over him, then you notice something wrong with a patient that he didn't, which of course hit the strong wall of ego he had in his ability as a doctor. And to add to that you mixed your paperwork up twice, so it really soured whatever friendship could have formed between the two of you.
Even now months later, the two of you refused to talk to or acknowledge one another outside of work. Part of it intrigued you, made you want to try and get closer to him. Considering he was the one always avoiding you.
Your avoidance was only in retaliation, not wanting to be on the receiving end of him yelling which you had seen him do to other doctors when they disagreed too harshly against him. Except, luckily for them, the argument usually smoothed over by the end of the day.
Not your luck. Currently Will was ignoring you worse than before, having slept horribly, gotten the wrong coffee order at the cafe outside. Not to mention the stress of the patient he had. Part of you wanted to step in and see if he wanted a second pair of eyes but the more rational side of you knew he would rather literally anybody else help him.
Even Connor.
So you pretended he didn’t exist, tucked the feud into the back of your mind as you took care of your own patients. A little girl with a broken arm. Construction worker that needed a tetanus shot and stitches. Not much heavy lifting.
Yelling caught your attention, pulling you from the treatment room to peer across the pen, seeing a woman up in Will’s face. “What the hell did you do? What did you do? I want another doctor.” She snapped, shoving Will back which pulled Ethan from behind the counter, stepping in between the two.
You watched as Will’s face fell, his usual arrogance and defensiveness nowhere to be seen as Dr. Choi ushered the patient back into the room, effectively taking over at his discretion. Will sucked in a deep breath, going into the doctor’s lounge, the door swinging shut behind him.
“I uh, I’ll be right back. April, could you stitch him up?” You gestured back to the room, moving towards the same door that had just closed. As soon as she nodded, you pulled the gloves off of your hands.
Hesitantly, you pushed the break room door open, looking over at Will who was sat with his elbows to his knees, hands clasped together under his chin. His eyes stayed dead set on the emptiness of the room ahead of him as you stepped slightly closer. “Will?”
“What? Are you here to make fun of me?” His words were cold, finally looking over at you. You shook your head, heart slightly skipping when he kept eye contact as you took a seat at the table on the other side of the room.
“I was actually going to see if you were okay.” You gave him a faint smile, giving out some sort of peace offering. Even if you didn’t get along, seeing the look on his face just made your stomach twist. Like something major had happened.
No matter the doctor, you honestly would have checked in with them. “I’m fine,” Will sighed, leaning back against the couch, running his hands down his face. He was obviously lying. And normally you would have dropped it.
But it felt wrong to. “Doesn’t seem it. C’mon, hatred or not you shouldn’t hold,” You gestured vaguely in his direction, “whatever that is to yourself the whole rest of your shift.” You spoke, leaning your head on your hand over the table.
Will turned his head slightly to you, eyebrows scrunched together, “I don’t hate you.” He completely ignored the reason you were even in the room, surprised by your choice of words. Has he really been treating you that horribly?
Your eyebrows raised instantly, a dry scoff coming from you, “Sorry but uh, you could have fooled me.” You shook your head slightly, “That’s also not the point of why I came to check on you.” Trying to bring the conversation back around you eyed him, once again gesturing to him.
He sighed deeply, sitting back up, his eyes focusing on the speckled ceiling. “I brought this guy back, restarted his heart cause you know, the wife wanted me to. She brought him back here to save him. But now,” Will dropped his hands to cross over his stomach. “Now he’s probably not gonna be fully functional when he wakes up. And that’s on me, for not just letting him go.”
You shook your head slightly, fighting the urge to move to be able to put a gentle hand on his back. “That’s not on you. We’re doctors. It’s what we do. Save people. You did what you thought was right.” In an attempt to comfort him at least a little bit you scooted the chair closer to the couch, bringing his eyes back to you.
“Still. He was down for 20 minutes, y/n. I should have just called it.”
“Maybe, but there’s no point in thinking about what you should have done. You did what you did, and that man is gonna live. Whether you should have done it or not.” You leaned onto your knees, smiling softly. “And hey, going the extra mile to keep a patient alive is kinda your thing.”
Will cocked an eyebrow up, head still resting against the back of the couch, “What do you mean by that?” He questioned, feeling a warmth spread across his face at the possible and probable compliment.
You shrugged faintly, “I just mean you always have your patients best wishes in mind. Which yes, can sometimes be incredibly stupid.”
“Wow, thank you.” He muttered, laughing dryly.
“But, it just means you really love your job. And love people. I wouldn’t change that about you at all.” You added, smile growing when he laughed. It was odd, being in the same room as him and it not being filled with awkward silence or annoyed tension. Instead it felt like you should be hugging him or something.
Though you weren’t sure going from never talking to fully embracing was a suitable step to take. “Thank you.” He muttered, your eyebrows raising once again. “For checking on me and what you said. I appreciate it.” Will sat up again, looking over at you properly.
You waved your hand at him in dismissal. “Hey, I’d want someone to do the same for me. I could tell whatever she had said got to you so,” You shrugged, letting the room fall into silence. And for once it wasn’t tense.
Slowly you stood, ready to head back out to the group of people in need in the other room. You stopped, turning to face Will again, “You mean it when you said you didn’t hate me?” You asked quickly, forehead knit together as you waited for his response.
“Yeah. I don’t hate you. You get on my nerves sometimes but,”
“Woow, alright. I’ll take it.” You laughed quietly, pulling a wave of laughter from the male doctor. It filled the room, replacing whatever bad energy the two of you held.
Will stood, double checking he didn’t look like a mess in the mirror before walking towards you, “No but seriously, no hatred or bad feelings here,” He patted your shoulder before pulling the door open, letting you go through it first.
You smiled softly, leaving ahead of him, thankful he couldn’t see the way your cheeks tinted pink as you returned to your duties, your heart fluttering the rest of the day.

Chapter Three
Chapter Four
Chrissy was nervous. Today was her first day back at school since it all happened. It was an entire month of bed rest, healing, and trips to the lab to be prodded by the doctors who took over Hawkins Lab. Will had already gone back to school since he wasn't as messed up as she was. Her black eye had healed, but the claw mark that ran through her eyebrow and over her cheek would always be there to remind her. As well as the scar on her stomach and her leg. At least she can still cheer and play softball.
"Chrissy, honey, there's a phone call for you," Claudia said, popping her head into her room.
"When did the phone ring?" Chrissy asked as she headed into the living room to pick up the phone. "Hello?"
"Lady Henderson!" Argyle's voice yelled from the receiver.
"Argy!" Chrissy exclaimed happily.
"Hey, figured I would send you some positive energy your way since it's your first day and all," Argyle said.
"Thank you," Chrissy said and sighed. "I wish you were here with me."
"Yeah, man, me too, but Mama insists I finish out the school year," Argyle said and paused. "I just think she's having a hard time letting go of the house. I keep telling her it's not the house that makes the home but the people in it."
"That's actually nice," Chrissy said. "You know, Jonathan wishes you were coming to school with us this year too. I think he's more eager than I am to see you."
"Yeah, the dude's a good egg," Argyle said casually. "Dude's riddled with anxiety, though. He's like one of those trembling chihuahuas."
"So, you think he needs someone like you to help calm him down?" Chrissy asked teasingly.
"Oh, yeah, definitely. A little purple palm tree delight could definitely help that boy out," Argyle said and sighed. "Oh, man, I feel the sudden urge to call Jonathan."
"Maybe you can catch him before he leaves. I need to finish getting ready, anyway," Chrissy said.
"Good luck, fair lady!" Argyle exclaimed.
Chrissy pulled a dark purple cardigan over her dark blue turtleneck and slipped on her shoes before letting her hair down. It made the scar less noticeable. A car honked outside, and she frowned. She looked outside and found Steve’s car waiting for her. Nancy. Chrissy smiled.
"Oh, Nancy called earlier and asked if you guys wanted a ride. Dusty already accepted," Claudia said.
Chrissy rolled her eyes affectionately. She gave her mom a hug and a kiss before letting her fuss over her. Dustin dragged her out the door as she was pulling on her jacket, holding her hand protectively.
"I don't even know why you're coming to school anyway," Dustin said. "It won't be long now before we're getting off for Christmas break."
"I just need to get out of the house, and I'm ready to go back," Chrissy said. "I'm going to be okay, Dustin."
"It's just that they're already going hard on Will with the whole Zombie boy thing, and now you have a nickname too," Dustin said.
"I can handle a few assholes, Dustin. You do remember what I survived, don't you?" Chrissy asked softly.
Ever since she came back from the Upside Down, both her mother and her brother had been awfully clingy to her. Overprotective was the word for it, which she understood. She had been clingy to them as well and with Will.
"I know," Dustin frowned.
Chrissy hugged him tightly before moving towards Steve’s car. Nancy was in the passenger's seat, and Robin was surprisingly in the back. Dustin slid into the middle seat beside Robin while Chrissy slid in next to him.
"Thanks for the ride," Chrissy said.
"No, problem," Steve said. "Nancy was worried about you."
"Just Nancy?" Chrissy asked.
"I mean, I was too, of course. I didn't want you to face those assholes without backup," Steve said.
"Is this how you got Robin to come?" Chrissy asked.
"Oh, no, me and Steve are best friends now. Platonic with a capital p," Robin said.
"Yeah, you would think they were twins instead of me and Robin," Nancy rolled her eyes.
"So, you're not worried that Robin's going to steal your boyfriend?" Dustin asked.
"No," Nancy, Steve, Robin, and Chrissy all laughed.
It was in that moment that Nancy, Steve, and Chrissy realized they all knew about Robin being a lesbian. They laughed again, leaving Dustin in the dark.
"Am I missing something?" Dustin asked.
"Yes, Dusty, but you have to be a higher level to unlock that secret," Chrissy said seriously.
"Oh, shit, how high?" Dusty asked. "And what level am I at right now?"
"Pretty low, little man, but I think you can get there," Robin said, her eyes twinkling with mirth.
"Okay, what creatures are we talking about here? What do I have to fight?" Dustin asked.
"Demogorgon," Robin shrugged. "Several of them."
"Okay, do I get the assistance of my party members?" Dustin asked.
"No, on your own," Robin said.
"Well, that's bullshit!" Dustin cursed.
"Chrissy never shuts up about how smart you are, I'm sure you can figure it out," Steve grinned.
"Thanks, Chrissy," Dustin said and leaned forward. "What's my strategy here, Steve?"
"You know, Nancy's pretty good at that too, you know," Steve said, rolling his eyes.
"Okay, Steve and Nancy, what's my strategy?" Dustin asked.
"Talk to Steve," Nancy said in amusement.
"Flirt with them," Steve said snapping his fingers.
"Oh, you would be one of those people. Just flirt with the monsters," Dustin said, rolling his eyes. "You're not allowed to play with us."
"Damn, just when I was working up the courage to ask you if I could," Steve said.
"Really?" Dustin asked eagerly.
"Yeah, no," he said with a smirk as Dustin huffed, sitting back.
Chrissy, Nancy, and Robin laughed as Dustin continued to argue with Steve. She always knew that Steve would get along great with her little brother. The arguing made the journey to school seemingly go by quickly. As soon as Chrissy stepped out of the car, a blurry figure rammed into her stomach and hugged her tightly. She laughed as she hugged Will back.
"Jeeze, Will, you almost ran her over," Jonathan said in amusement.
"I'm just really excited to see you," Will said. "I'm just happy you're back. Are you nervous?"
"A little," Chrissy said as Will pulled back. "I guess Argyle wasn't able to call you before you guys left."
"Damn, no, he was going to call?" Jonathan asked, his eyes lighting up, his cheeks pink.
"Yeah, this morning when he got off the phone with me," Chrissy said and laughed when Jonathan pouted.
"He won't stop talking about him," Will whispered, and Jonathan jabbed him in the side.
"Go on with Dustin to school, butthead," Jonathan said, rolling his eyes.
The group walked towards the school and tried parting through the crowds of students trying to escape the cold. It took a minute for Chrissy to realize that they were walking behind Eddie Munson. She smiled, and it was gone just as quick. Suddenly, Eddie slipped, falling backward in her direction. Chrissy managed to catch him in time but not without falling on her butt. Eddie looked up at her in surprise.
"Hi," Eddie said breathlessly. "I'm sorry."
"Are you apologizing for falling for me?" Chrissy asked with a smirk.
"Yeah, I mean no! Jesus, I'm sorry, but that's just cheesy for someone so. . .," Eddie trailed off, his cheeks pink.
"Someone so what?" She asked.
"You look familiar," Eddie said, squinting his eyes at her.
"Yeah?" She asked hopefully.
"Eddie," a boy with curly hair said, bursting through the crowd. "Why is Chrissy Henderson cradling you like a baby?"
"Oh, you're - OH SHIT!" Eddie screamed.
Suddenly, Eddie was flipping her over and cradling the back of her head. Now, he was on top of her, and an icicle had crashed to the ground near their heads. Their faces were so close together that Chrissy could feel his breath on her face.
"Awww, the witch and the freak!" Someone from the crowd exclaimed.
"A matchmade in hell!" Someone else hollered.
"Is that what they've been saying about me?" Chrissy asked.
"Sorry," Eddie muttered.
"I wonder what their babies would look like," someone cackled.
"A lot better than your parents'!" Steve snapped.
"Oh, damn," someone said. "I think he's saying you're ugly, Kenny."
"Yeah, thanks, I didn't get that."
"There's nothing to see here!" Steve exclaimed. "Get inside!"
Steve and Nancy quickly helped them up as the crowd started to dissipate.
"You saved me," Chrissy beamed at Eddie.
"You saved me first," Eddie winked. "See you around, Henderson."
He disappeared into the crowd with the curly haired boy. Chrissy watched the spot where he stood for a moment, grinning and blushing. She was startled out of it by the sound of someone clearing their throat. She looked over to find Steve, Nancy, Robin, and Jonathan looking at her.
"What?"
"So, when you guys inevitably have grandchildren, are you guys going to tell them about this moment?" Steve asked, and Jonathan laughed.
"Shut up, Steve," Chrissy said, but she was struggling not to laugh with him.
"So, is this crush on Eddie Munson new, or have you always known?" Nancy asked they walked inside.
"I do not have a crush," Chrissy rolled her eyes.
"Oh! Look! Eddie's coming this way!" Steve exclaimed.
"Where?!" Chrissy asked, peering over the crowd.
She stood back and glared at him as he laughed. She punched him in the shoulder.
"Asshole," Chrissy said.
"That was kind of evil, man," Jonathan smirked.
"No, that was fucking hilarious," Robin said as she high fived Steve.
"It was kind of funny," Nancy admitted.
"Okay, fine, fine. . .it all started in middle school. . ."
The first few periods, Chrissy was fine. The distraction of the lessons managed to get her through it. . .until it all started to slow down. She became more aware of the people surrounding her and the nickname that spilled from their lips. Chrissy the Witch. Apparently, the scar on her face wasn't enough for them to believe that she took on a bear with a knife and survived. She had to have used magic. Chrissy actually wasn't bothered by the nickname (it was actually cool), but it was the sounds of their voices and their close proximity. It was all so. . .overwhelming. She could feel everything and hear everything. She could hear ringing in her ears, and then for a moment, she was back there. . .back in the Upside Down. The hallways were covered in vines, the particles were swirling in the air, and a dark shape was moving towards her. A voice echoed in the darkness, calling her name. Suddenly, she was back in the real world, and someone dove at her, pretending to be a bear. She screamed and reacted quickly by slamming her fist in his face.
"You bitch!" Tommy Hagan cursed as he held his bloody nose.
Chrissy didn't even bother apologizing. She took off and found the nearest empty classroom. She entered and slammed the door behind her, locking it. Chrissy turned around and pressed her back to the door. She was in the science lab, and Eddie was sitting at one of the tables, a notebook in front of him. Eddie's mouth was open, looking comically surprised to see her.
"I broke Tommy Hagan's nose with my fist," Chrissy blurted out.
"What the fuck?!" Eddie exclaimed and then he laughed. "So, you punched him."
Chrissy sighed and plopped down next to him. She winced and rubbed her hand.
"You know, punching someone hurts both parties," Chrissy replied.
Eddie chuckled and took her hand, rubbing her knuckles gently. Chrissy bit her lip, trying to contain the squeal that was ready to burst out of her.
"That's true. So, what did Tommy Hagan do to incur the wrath of Chrissy Henderson?" Eddie asked.
"He pretended to be a bear when I was in the middle of. . .having a thing," Chrissy said. "He made it look like he was attacking me, and it startled me."
"That fucker deserved it," Eddie said as he continued to massage her knuckles. "I'm sorry he did that."
"I bet he's sorry too," Chrissy grinned.
"I bet he is," Eddie cackled. "You know, this isn't the first time that we hung out."
"It's not?" She asked innocently.
"Yeah, I mean, it was a few years ago at the Talent Show. My head was buzzed, and I didn't have these awesome tatties," Eddie said and flipped the hand that was holding Chrissy's to show her his puppet tattoo on his forearm. "My band - "
"Corroded Coffin! How could I forget?!" Chrissy said teasingly.
"I don't know, you're a freak," Eddie giggled.
"I think you mean witch," she corrected. "You're the freak."
"The witch and the freak," he smiled.
"I was totally messing with you," Chrissy said, pausing. "I do remember that day. It was a hard day to forget."
"Right. . .cause of your mom," Eddie said softly.
Chrissy almost made a wistful noise with her mouth as she gazed into his chocolate brown eyes.
"My birth mom, actually. Claudia Henderson is my true mother," Chrissy said. "I mean, Laura will always be my mom. There's no denying it. She's actually up at Pennhurst, I visit her sometimes. She's actually doing better, but she's not ready to leave. She's probably going to be there forever, but she's happy there, and she's happy that I am happy where I am. So, I'm glad it all worked out."
"Then I'm glad too," Eddie said. "If you don't mind me asking, what happened to your dad?"
"Left town when it all happened. Who knows what happened to him, and I don't particularly care," Chrissy muttered.
"I have a dad who comes in and out of my life. My mom's been dead since I was six. My uncle's pretty much the only one who is there for me, I mean, besides Hellfire and my best friend Ronnie," Eddie said.
"So, you get it?" She asked softly.
"Yeah," Eddie said. "I never thanked you for cheering for me."
"You deserved it," Chrissy said.
"Well, if you ever need me to cheer for you. . .," Eddie grinned.
"You willing to wear the skirt that goes with cheering someone on?" Chrissy asked as Eddie leaned on his elbow, his cheek pressed into his free hand.
"Oh, yeah," Eddie grinned.
"You know, some people would find that hot," Chrissy teased.
Eddie snorted with laughter, causing his elbow to slip off the table and his head to hit the table. He dropped her hand with a groan and rubbed his forehead. Chrissy stood up to look at his forehead, not thinking about the fact that she was standing in between his legs.
"Well, what's the prognosis?" Eddie asked.
"Hmmm, you're an idiot, but you'll live," Chrissy said as she stroked the spot between his eyes.
"That's good, I like living," Eddie said.
"So, we had a funny interaction, a shared childhood memory, and we exchanged trauma. You totally made yourself look like an idiot. . .are we friends yet?" Chrissy asked.
"Friends? Yeah. . .friends," Eddie gulped.
Chrissy suddenly realized how close they were and that Eddie's hand had found its way to her hip to steady her. Friends? Why in hell did she say that? Her eyes dropped to his lips. . .his perfectly plump lips. BAM! A bird flew into the window, startling both of them and causing them both to shriek. Chrissy stumbled back, knocking over her stool.
"JESUS H CHRIST!" Eddie yelled out as he clutched his chest.
Chrissy picked up the stool and set it back up before sitting back on it. Her heart was hammering in her chest, and she tried to take deep breaths to steady it.
"Tell me about what you were doing so I can calm myself down. You're working on your campaign, right?" She asked. "My little brother plays."
"Yeah, yeah, I can do that," Eddie said. "Jesus."
After spending time with Eddie, Chrissy managed to make it throughout the day. She met Steve and Nancy out by his car.
"So, how was your day?" Nancy asked.
"Well, it was going pretty great until I felt overwhelmed, and I was remembering what it was like there. Then Tommy Hagan pretended like he was a bear attacking me, so I broke his nose. I ran to the science lab where Eddie was working on his campaign, and just as we were about to kiss a fucking bird flew into the window scaring the hell put of us pretty much ruining the mood," Chrissy said.
"Jesus," Steve said.
"Are you okay?" Nancy asked.
"I mean, it could have been better, but it was pretty good considering I made friends with Eddie, and I got to slug Tommy H in the nose. I'm looking forward to seeing what it looks like tomorrow," Chrissy grinned.
"God, I wish I could have seen that," Steve said.
"Well, he's an idiot so there's a good chance it's going to happen again," Chrissy said, and they both laughed.
It wasn't long before Robin was also meeting them by the car and then Dustin, who threw his arms around Chrissy. Despite all that happened, she looked forward to the next day, and the next day after that. Eddie's dimpled grin swam in her head.

Y/n and Sanji are currently on the hospital. While Y/n register her daughter, Sanji, her husband, is playing and converse around with D/n.
"Come, sit here love"
Sanji said as he saw her wife came back to him. Y/n sat down as D/n babble happily after spotting her mom coming back.
"Thank you Sanji" Y/n said as she tried to have her daughter back.
"No, love, let me. You've done enough today, take a break, i'll handle this little baby" Sanji pull D/n away slightly and plant a kiss on his wife's cheek. A blush crept into her face and she decided to sit back to play it cool.
"I don't think i can hold her while she's getting vaccinated though.." Sanji let out a sheepish smile.
"Huh? Why?"
"I'm scared, i don't think i can watch her getting pricked"
"...what?" Y/n looked at him. "Didn't know you're a big softie"
"Hey! I am a softie, only for you and D/n though" Y/n and Sanji let out a chuckles.
Not long after, D/n's name are called out. Sanji and his two lovely woman walked into one of the doctor's room and answer a few questions regarding D/n health.
"Well then, she's safe to get vaccinated. Please sit there with your kid" said the doctor, guiding them into the chair.
Sanji looked at his wife expectantly, it's like saying "please, you do it". Y/n took D/n away from Sanji and sat down the chair, sitting her baby on her lap. After an alcohol swab, the doctor is injectingthe vaccine to D/n. Sanji visibly cringe at this sight as D/n cried into her mother's arm.
"It's okay darling, it's done" Y/n stand up to rock her as soon as the doctor finished putting the bandaid. The doctor gave them a prescription for fever medicine just in case.
"Thank you very much doctor!"
At 1 AM, Y/n are rocking a fussy baby in her arms. Seems like she caught a fever and her arms are probably sore.
"I know it's uncomfortable baby, i'm sorry, i wish i can do something" Y/n said gently as she tried to just feed her and lull her back to sleep, but it seems like no luck in those plan. Sanji goes into the nursery room with nothing but a boxer, taking away D/n and held her close to his chest.
"Go back to sleep, love, i'll take care of her" he said caressing Y/n's cheek. D/n's cries has reduced into a soft whimper as she felt his father's embrace.
Y/n let out a chuckle "Such a dad's girl, i'm off then, goodnight D/n." Y/n kissed her head and Sanji's broad shoulder. "Thank you, Sanji, i love you" "I love you more, darling"

Your mission, if you choose to accept it! :)
I'm sending a GIF to everyone who has participated in Tobias Carrick Appreciation Week this year. Can you create a ficlet (or anything you desire) based on this by Sunday? If so, you'll get one extra chance at the prize to be selected on Monday! :)
Here is your GIF:
Okay. LOL! LOVE the above gif so much. Before I begin a whole new AU about this with my otp, here's a short background on my MC. Chris, is American born to Scottish parents and was raised mostly in Inverness. She has a temper, but usually just tells someone off. It would take a lot to get her this violent, like say someone not only manipulating her but also hooking up with a doctor she's fallen for. Going back to Book 2 and rewriting Canon and my own HC for this one.
Rated Mature for Sexual Content and Language. Chris's upbringing allowed me to find some unique Scottish insults that cried out to be used in this.
Masterlist
Game on
The Edenbrook/Mass Kenmore Softball Game
"Good luck out there, Chris." June said. "Remember to run Carrick's face in the dirt for taking that grant from us."
"Don't worry." Chris told her. "He won't be near as handsome when I'm done with him."
June slowly smiled in hearing that.
"Good. I can't wait to see him get knocked down a peg or two."
Taking a deep breath, Chris began to stretch. Shaking her arms out, she made her way to the pitcher's mound.
Of course, she thought, he would be first up to bat.
"You got this Chris!" Elijah shouted.
"Does she now?" Tobias taunted. "You sure you can do this, Valentine?"
Chris was tempted to stick her tongue out at him. The childish thought made her snicker. Tobias's stance eased when he saw her smile. His own lips curved at how cute she was in her uniform.
It was all the distraction Chris needed to throw the first strike. Shocked, Tobias tried to regroup. He narrowed his eyes at her as he tightened his grip on the bat. She winked at him, shaking his concentration, once more.
"Strike Two!" Elijah yelled out. "I don't know about you, Carrick, but I think she can do this."
Tobias rolled his eyes as he lifted his bat over his shoulder once more.
Chris eyed him, taking in how his uniform conformed to his body. A soft smile appeared on her lips as she thought how he might drive her crazy but he was very attractive.
He blinked at that secretive smile she had. After all the escalation between them with taking patients from one another, he never expected her to actually check him out.
"Strike three!" Elijah cackled. "Oh man. You didn't even bother to swing at that last pitch."
"Take it as a goodwill gesture." Tobias replied. "Next time, I won't go easy."
***************
Between innings...
Chris searched through the coolers of beer until she found a bottle of water.
"Keeping your head clear for the game, Valentine?"
She spun around at the sound of that teasing voice.
Tobias Carrick grinned at her as he reached past her for a bottle of water.
"Glad to see someone is taking this as serious as I do." He winked at her.
"You should wish I wasn't." She couldn't help but smile at him. "Then you might stand a chance to actually hit the ball."
He narrowed his eyes at her. Each time she pitched, he struck out. Though impressed, he wasn't about to admit defeat.
"I've still got a few points on that board." He reminded her. "And there will be even more before the night is over."
Chris stepped closer to him. "You wish that were true."
Tobias took another step closer. "You're going to eat those words."
"Doubtful." Her eyes flickered down his body. "I'm sure you win a lot of things, but tonight isn't going to be one of those nights."
"Want to bet?" He leaned down until his nose nearly touched hers.
His gaze settled on her mouth before locking eyes with hers.
"That all depends," she replied, "what's on the table?"
His lips quirked into a flirty smile. "I can think of one thing I'd like to see on the table."
Her eyebrows rose. The image of just what he'd do to her on that table made a flash of heat go through her body.
"I bet you do." She tilted her head. "I guess we'll just have to--"
"Get away from her!"
The startled pair turned towards a furious Ethan Ramsey.
He moved between them, glaring at Tobias.
"Leave her alone." Ethan bit out.
Tobias narrowed his eyes at him. "What's your deal, Ethan? We were only talking."
"Bullshit." Ethan hissed. "I know you. Chris is off limits."
"Excuse me?" Chris snapped.
"Doesn't sound like she is to me." Tobias winked at her over Ethan's shoulder.
Ethan grabbed hold of Tobias's jersey. "I mean it, Carrick. You've messed with me enough. Just because you poached our patient, doesn't mean you can also take her."
Before Tobias could snap back, Naveen forced them apart.
"Calm down." He ordered. "Take it out on the field."
Tobias snorted. Downing his water bottle, he made sure to knock his shoulder into Ethan's as he walked away.
Ethan grit his teeth, before turning to Chris.
"What did he say to you?" He demanded.
"Nothing but typical trash talk." She replied. "There was no need for you to get involved."
She straightened her shoulders. "I can handle myself. I don't need you jumping in to save me."
Ethan removed his ball cap and ran his hand through his hair. He knew he should have never agreed to play this asinine game.
"I know you can." He looked past her to where the Mass Kenmore team was sitting. "Seeing him try and get close to you, it made me..."
He cursed under his breath.
"So what if he tries to get close to me?" She looked away from Ethan. "It isn't like you want to be in that position."
"Damnit, Chris." Ethan whispered. "You know why I can't--"
"Save your breath." She muttered. "I've heard it all before."
"Wait." He grasped her arm when she tried to walk away. "Carrick isn't the type of man you can tease and not get burned."
Chris jerked her arm away.
"Don't worry." She glared at him. "I know all about being burned."
Ethan watched her storm off with a heavy heart.
******************
After the game, Chris was still full of restless energy. Their win over Mass Kenmore hadn't made her feel any better about the war they'd been having over patients.
When her friends invited her out to celebrate, she sent them on without her. The thought of another night spent in Donahue's with the same faces and conversations didn't appeal to her.
Trying to decide whether or not to just go back to her apartment, she heard her name called out.
She searched for the source and saw Tobias leaning against the side of his car.
"What?" She said once she made her way over.
"Congratulations." He said.
A reluctant smile peeped out at him.
"Thanks." She brushed a lock of hair that had escaped her ponytail behind her ear. "I didn't think you'd be up for saying that after I hit that last pitch of yours."
"It's just a game, Chris." He responded. "I wanted to win, but I still respect how you played it."
She folded her arms. "Something tells me you like to play a lot of games."
He smirked. "So many things in life are more fun when you make it a game. Why not enjoy it?"
"Is patient care a game to you?"
He rolled his eyes. "Come on, Chris. I'm not heartless. If I hadn't thought that Mass Kenmore could give Stephanie better care than Edenbrook, I wouldn't have offered it."
He leaned closer to her. "You would have done the same if the situation was reversed."
Chris hesitated. "You're right. I would have."
He smiled at her. "You and I are more alike than you think."
She laughed, shaking her head. "I wouldn't go that far."
"No?" He placed his hand upon his chin as if considering that. "I guess I'll have to work harder to prove it to you."
He pushed off from his car and opened the passenger door for her. "Want me to give you a ride home?"
Biting her lip, Chris shook her head. "I don't think I'm going home just yet."
"Where are you going?" He glanced around the nearly empty parking lot. "Looks like everyone else left to party without you."
She shrugged. "I'm not really in a celebratory mood."
"What kind of mood are you in?" He asked.
"Honestly, I'm not sure. I guess I'm more restless than anything else."
"Well, how about I drive you around until you decide what you want to do?" He offered.
"Okay."
She slid into his car. Her heart started picking up speed when she realized this would be the first time she was actually alone with him.
"Where were you going?" She asked once he buckled up.
"Home." He replied with a grin. "To drink my loss away."
She couldn't help but laugh. "I wouldn't mind a drink."
He turned towards her. "And just where would you like to have this drink?"
"I'm not really up for a bar." She admitted.
"My place or yours?" He asked.
"Who said anything about us drinking together?" She teased.
"Why waste this rare opportunity to do that very thing?" He countered.
"True." She relaxed back into the seat. "Let's go to your place."
Cutting her eyes towards him, she noticed his smug smile forming.
"Don't think anything other than a drink is going to happen." She warned.
"Whatever you say." He winked at her.
*****************
One drink and some flirting later, the two wound up in his shower. As the warm water fell upon them, they did all they could to heat the other's skin until they burned.
Chris ran her hands down his body as he kissed her neck. Her pent up frustrations with her life and work demanded she take advantage of her situation. She needed this release, almost as much as she wanted the man driving her on to give in to her every desire.
Ethan's words echoed in her mind, causing her to pause in her caresses.
The thing was, she wanted to burn. Even if it was just for this one night, she wanted to simply sate her passionate nature with no worries about what the morning would bring.
Tobias began to kiss down her body. He noticed her furrowed brow and lack of movement. He knew he needed to work on drawing her back into the night he was imagining.
He reached over and turned the water off, before urging her out.
"You're distracted." He said, handing her a towel. "Do you not want this?"
Chris paused in drying off. "No, I want you."
He stepped closer, all his usual cockiness nowhere in sight.
"Good. Because I've wanted you from the moment I first saw you."
"Right." Chris sarcastically replied. "I'm sure I really caught your eye at that diner."
He settled his arms around her waist.
"I noticed you immediately." He softly brushed his lips against hers. "Each time I saw you after that, I wanted you more and more."
His deep voice admitting to something like that, even though she doubted the sincerity, made her move right back into his embrace. Her lips sought his, and the two raced right back into the inferno they'd started.
Stumbling back into his bedroom, they fell upon the bed, limbs tangling as they continued to kiss.
Tobias moaned as Chris rolled on top of him. Deciding to relax and see what she'd do next, he urged her to take the reins.
His breath hitched the moment she kissed him. Her body moved over his, teasing and promising so much more. He cupped her face, looking into her eyes as she caressed him.
"You have no idea how often I've fantasized about this." He murmured, pulling her down for another kiss.
"Show me." She arched into his heated touch. "I want to do everything you thought about."
That was all he needed to hear.
*****************
As light began to filter through the slits of the bedroom blinds, Chris and Tobias collapsed exhausted on his bed.
Trying to catch her breath, Chris looked over at him. When he turned towards her, a breathless laugh popped out.
"You have some imagination there." She teased.
He chuckled, scooting closer to her. "That was only half of what I've fantasized."
"You're kidding?" Chris smiled at him. "I don't think I have the energy to see what else is in store."
She stretched, drawing his appreciative gaze towards her lithe body.
"There's always later." He reminded her. "Say like tonight?"
"Why Dr. Carrick," she snuggled closer within his arms. "Are you asking me out?"
"That depends." He pressed a lingering kiss to her lips.
"On?"
"If the answer is yes."
She laughed, shaking her head over how good she felt in this moment with him.
"That's a definite yes."
"Then I'm asking you out." He chuckled when she softly groaned.
"You're lucky you're cute." She teased.
"I know." He sighed. "It's both a curse and a blessing."
"You poor, poor man." She patted his cheek.
Tobias took her hand and pressed a kiss within her palm. His eyes found hers as she laced their fingers together.
"How about dinner first?"
"So, it's a real date?" She joked.
"Ummhmm." He rolled over on his back, tucking her in beside him. "Is that still a yes?"
"I will need energy to begin whatever round we're on." She replied.
"Yes, you will." He squeezed her close.
"Then, I guess I'll see you later."
She began to ease out of his bed, only to be dragged back within his arms.
"Where do you think you're going?" He murmured against her neck while dotting kisses along it.
"Home." She relaxed back within his arms.
"No need to rush off so soon." He urged her back under the covers.
"I'll stay if you let me sleep." She warned. "If I don't get a few hours, there's no way I'll be any fun later tonight."
"We can't have that." He laughed when she poked him in his ribs.
She curled up against his side. Her eyes closed and she felt her body relax completely. It'd been a while since she felt so blissfully carefree.
It was a feeling she didn't want to end.
******************
Weeks went by in blur. Chris seemed to find her stride in both her professional life and her personal life. That one night with Tobias had blossomed into a weekly date night, adding even more happiness.
She knew she was falling for him. It was difficult not to. He had the ability to get her mind off the possible shutdowns that loomed over their hospitals. His humor and unending charm kept her thoughts firmly in the moment instead of the fears of the future.
Plus the closeness that was developing between them made her care all the more.
She didn't know which she loved most, the amazing sex or the talks they would have afterwards. The nights spent with him ended up being the best part of her week.
Whatever it was, she wasn't going to question it.
The only problem was June Hirata.
Chris was still a bit uneasy around the diagnostician. Seeing how two-faced the woman could be made it hard to completely trust working with her.
Then one day June approached the team with an idea.
"Did you know Senator Ed Farruiga's at Mass Kenmore?"
"No." Chris replied.
"Apparently he has some illness that no one can figure out." She paused to make sure she had everyone's attention. "I think we should encourage him to come here."
Ethan leaned back in his chair in thought. Baz seemed a little uncertain about the idea.
"I would love to give it a go, but we can't just go take one of their patients." He argued.
"Why not? No one has to stay at a hospital where they aren't getting the best possible care. Can you imagine how much publicity we would get if we helped another famous face?" June glanced at Ethan. "It would help us be able to help more people who really need us."
"It would." He conceded. "And we are a better team than Carrick's."
"Are we really going to do what they did with Stephanie?" Chris asked.
"Don't you want some payback for that?" June countered. "We lost a huge grant! They don't need the Senator as much as we do."
Chris didn't like the idea of continuing the game they'd started with Leland Bloom, especially with how close she'd gotten to their opponent.
"Let's do it." Ethan decided, needing a chance to get back at Tobias.
As they worked out a plan of attack, June checked her messages.
"My contact says that Dr. Carrick and his team haven't diagnosed the cause yet. They have only begun the process of ordering lab work."
She looked at the clock. "Given how long it takes for Mass Kenmore's lab techs to come around for blood samples, I say we have an hour tops to poach him."
"Then let's get going." Ethan ordered.
******************
It took less than an hour to find the senator and to convince him to transfer to Edenbrook. As she followed Baz out of the hospital, Chris heard the one voice she wished to avoid.
"Chris?" Tobias called out. "What are you doing here?"
He noticed the senator further ahead of her, changed and in the process of signing discharge papers.
His eyes narrowed when he realized what was going on.
"Look, I--" Chris tried to apologize.
"Save it." He snapped. "I don't want to hear it."
Without giving her a chance, he stormed back the way he came.
***************
Later that night, Chris headed to a bar she knew Tobias liked to frequent. He'd already ignored her calls and texts. If she was ever going to have the chance to explain, she knew it'd have to be in person.
It didn't take long to find him in the crowd. What surprised her was who was sitting with him.
What is June doing here?
The way the two were laughing and talking, it was obvious they knew each other a little too well.
The more she observed, the angrier Chris became.
"Chris!" June greeted. "I didn't expect to see you here."
"Really?" Chris folded her arms. "I'm surprised. I thought you made certain to know where all your pawns are."
June laughed. "Only the most naive make the best pawns. You've been my favorite by far, Chris."
Tobias eyed her then glanced up at Chris.
June leaned closer to him, placing her hand on his thigh. "Our games are so much fun, aren't they?"
Chris was beyond livid. For months June had used her in every situation. Now to see that Tobias was in on whatever manipulative game they were playing caused her to snap.
She lunged forward almost punching June in her smug face. The table had stopped her momentum right before contact, giving Tobias a chance to grab her around the waist and pull her back.
Chris struggled against him. Her Scottish accent became thicker than usual as she unleashed a flurry of insults upon the pair.
"Let me go, you wee fuckbumper!" She shouted. "I'm going to show that dug licking pish aff a nettle just what happens when she messes with me!"
"Chris!" Tobias grunted when her elbows struck his ribs. "Calm the hell down!"
June began to laugh harder while watching the pair.
"This is the best you can do?" She taunted Chris. "Oh my god, I can't believe I actually thought you might be worthy competition."
"Bolt, ya mangled fud!" Chris yelled.
Still snickering, June gathered her things and headed towards the door.
"Call me Carrick when you're ready to be with a real woman again."
With a last burst of energy, Chris tried to break free of Tobias. She needed to knock June down just once. Her rage demanded to feel that woman's face under her fist.
Tobias yanked her back and half dragged her out the back door.
Once they were outside, he let her go.
They were both panting and glaring at one another.
"What the shit was that?!" He snapped. "If you'd actually touched June, she'd have had your ass in jail so fast it'd have made that hot head of yours spin."
"Do you know what that means?" He demanded when Chris remained defiant. "That means your career would be over!"
"Piss off." Chris hissed at him. "Ya lavvy-heided wankstain."
"Fuck this." Tobias rubbed his hands over his face. "I don't even know why I'm bothering to talk some sense into you."
"I don't either." Chris fought back tears.
"Why did you come here?" He asked when she fell silent. "Just to rub it in that you too can steal a patient?"
"Weren't you the man who said it was all a game?" She shot back. "And if I knew Edenbrook was the best for someone, then I should make it happen?"
"Damnit." He muttered. "Look, June told me you were determined to make me pay for my little stunt with Stephanie."
"That I was?" Chris released another profanity laden tirade.
The more descriptive she got, the more Tobias struggled with his laughter. He was still furious over everything, but he couldn't help but be impressed with her imaginative use of curse words.
After a particularly long sentence about June's reputation with men, all the fire seemed to go out in Chris.
She slumped back against the brick wall of the bar and lowered her head into her hands.
"I know you won't believe me." She began. "But this wasn't my idea."
Against his better judgement, Tobias moved a little closer and leaned next to her.
"What happened?" He asked.
The whole story poured out along with Chris's guilt.
"We never should have gotten close." She added at the end. "Not with all the animosity between the hospitals."
Tobias took a deep breath and slowly released it. "Do you regret it?"
"Stealing your patient?" She slowly nodded. "I don't think it was worth it."
"Not that." He turned towards her. "Us?"
She looked up at him. "No."
Her face scrunched as if she was about to cry. "I mean, I do since you and June had your own thing going at the same time. I know you and I weren't serious, but to have actually been with someone who could be with that two-faced bitch--"
"I wasn't seeing her while seeing you." Tobias interrupted.
She still looked doubtful.
"Come on, Chris." He rubbed the back of his neck. "You know. You have to have seen that what we have is..."
He cursed, kicking at some trash.
"What we have is what? She prodded.
He groaned then yanked her into a heady kiss.
She wrapped her arms around him, giving back as good as she got.
Tobias stumbled back from the passion in her kiss, hitting the wall with her locked in his arms.
When it came to an end, he lifted his head to look into her eyes.
"See?" He said softly.
She slowly nodded.
"Then don't say we shouldn't have gotten together." He cuddled her close.
"What about my part in the senator?" She looked up at him. "Can you let that go?"
"Yes." He tightened his arms around her. "Of course I can."
"Then why didn't you answer my calls?"
"Because June made it seem like you'd strung me along to keep me from suspecting anything when you did eventually steal a patient." He admitted. "Knowing that I'd fallen for you, it stung that you didn't feel the same way. That I was merely your pawn in all this."
"I hate her." Chris bit out.
Tobias snorted. "Yeah, she isn't the easiest person to be around."
Chris bit back the fact he'd found her easy enough to sleep with.
Tobias sighed. "Want me to take you home?"
"No." Chris mumbled. "I'm too keyed up to see my roommates."
A tender smile began to form as he recalled a similar conversation they'd once had.
"Want me to drive you around until you calm down?"
Chris looked up at him, recalling the night of the softball game. Seeing that he remembered it too made her melt against him.
"I'd love that."
Keeping one arm around her waist, Tobias led her to his car.

spideytorch bullet point fic
race car driver Johnny!
Johnny is a race car driver (that's he's only thing, not all the other stuff)
Peter is his boyfriend of course
he doesn't understand racing very much but still he goes to every race he can
Johnny has a really bad accident during one race like car flipped over and badly mangled
Peter has to be held back from running on to the track by their friend Bobby
it takes the med crew a bit to get Johnny out of the wreck and Peter is shaking the whole time
they get him out eventually and he's awake thank goodness
Johnny’s trying to spot Peter in the crowd so he can at least wave to him or smile at him
meanwhile Peter is crying in relief
there's blood coming from somewhere on Johnny’s head and his arm looks like it's been broken but he's awake smiling and alive
Johnny gets taken away in an ambulance while Peter and Bobby rush out of the stadium to meet him at the hospital
Bobby drives there because Peter is a wreck
Peter rushes in while Bobby parks and then waits in the lobby
Peter gives Johnny a hug
(which hurts but Johnny ties to hide it)
"All those tears for me?"
"Shut up you're such an idiot what were you thinking"
"I didn't try to crash!"
"I was so worried about you. I thought you were dead" *kisses*
Johnnys left arm is broken in two places, he fractured three ribs, and he has a concussion
he's out for the rest of the season because of all of that obviously
the next season Johnny wants to go back to racing and Peter doesn't want him to
they get into a massive fight about it
"Peter this is my life! It's what I do!"
"It almost killed you Johnny!"
"you're being overdramatic about it"
"you had two fractured ribs, the doctor said if they'd fully broken it would've punctured your lung!"
"but they didn't! I was okay!"
"That doesn't mean you go rushing back to the race track to try again."
"Peter I love this! I can't just stop because of one crash!"
"I can't- I can't watch that again Johnny. It was the hardest thing to watch since my uncle died."
"Then stop watching."
"Johnny-"
"if it's too hard to watch me do this then stop watching, cause I'm going back."
this ends with their breakup and they’re both heartbroken
but Peter doesn't stop watching
he always has the race on in the background making sure Johnnys okay
and Johnny still keeps the picture of Peter taped up inside of his car
the second to last race of the season the two cars in front of Johnny wreck bad and his attempt to avoid it send him swerving in a circle off the course
Peter screams while watching it at home
Johnny is able to walk out of the car on his own, no injuries but it definitely scared him
as soon as Peter sees him walk out of the car he turns off the race and rushes to the track
the race was in Delaware not close to Peter at all really but he doesn't care
he gets there after the race is over, it's night now but he's determined to see Johnny
Peter runs into Johnnys crew chief Ben and begs him to tell Peter where Johnny is
Ben tells him and Peter sprints to the hotel room in the middle of Ben wishing him luck
Peter bangs on the door frantic and out of breath
"Peter?"
"I'm so sorry" they both say at the same time
they talk and apologize and cry and kiss
"I was so scared Peter. There was a crash today and I-"
"I know, I was watching."
"You were?"
"I never stopped. I can't. I love you too much."
"I love you so much Peter. I missed you I'm so sorry for sending you away."
"I'm so sorry I let you."
they're officially back together before the night is over
and they’re engaged by the end of the year

Thank god I noticed that I sent the rough draft. I hated the rough draft ending. My mistake, sorry!
Part III (This one was harder to write than the last one. I managed to tie this into the second non-story ask I ever sent you):
Naomi-010 never believed she would fall for someone.
She knew of the concept of love and the romantic feelings that came with it, but she believed herself beyond those feelings. She was a Spartan, one of Doctor Halsey's supersoldiers. It was her duty as a soldier to protect humanity. Whatever the cost. She didn't have time for romance or love. She didn't feel herself worthy of it.
Then, she was partnered with you. An ODST Gunnery Sergeant with a smile brighter than a star and a heart bigger than the Milky Way.
You had treated her like a human being, treated her like a friend, made her feel like she was more than just the armor smatters. On and off the battlefield, you were a steadfast companion. You made her feel seen. Like she mattered.
She loved you. She was sure of it.
"Can I ask you something?"
Which led Naomi to this moment with you, her mind moving faster than the words she didn't know how to say to you. The words at the tip of her tongue were a jumbled mess brushed aside by curiosity as she found herself stuck with a question that had been bothering her since her discovery of her romantic feelings. And you, being who you are, lifted your head off the table and replied with one word.
"Always."
How you managed to pour so much warmth into one word bewildered her. The Spartan had to summon the training and discipline distilled into her so that she could ignore the burning of her ears.
"How-" She began before pausing. "I don't know how to ask it."
You raised an eyebrow at her confession, the twinkle in your eyes becoming inquisitive as you looked at her.
"What's going on in that head of yours?" You asked, tone laced with confusion.
"I don't know, it's just-" She fumbled her words. She didn't think this far ahead and now she was paying for it. Your questioning gaze upon her definitely did not help. "I don't know how to say it. The words are there but I just can't say it, you know?"
"I understand." Your eyes softened as curiosity was replaced with something she couldn't describe. "So, ask when you do have the words. I don't plan on going anywhere."
The Spartan-II took a deep breath, recollecting herself. She allowed herself time to think, to not think tactically. Aftwr a few minutes, with a deep breath and a wish for luck, she finally asked: "What do you think of me?"
"What do I think of you?"
"Yes."
You rubbed your neck, tapping your fingers on the table rhythmically. "Well, I, uh, I think you're the best damn soldier I've ever seen. You're trustworthy-"
"Not as a soldier." She interrupted. "What do you think of me?"
"Now it's my turn to not know how to speak." You blushed. "It's embarrassing, honestly. I'm not very good with words and I-I don't want you to think I'm some kind of fool."
"I won't." She vowed.
"You promise?"
"I swear it."
"Okay." You said, so quiet that she almost didn't hear it. "I'll hold you to that."
You took a deep breath.
There was something else in your eyes when you had looked to her and had met her gaze. You had a gift for that. Somehow, even though she wore a helmet and her eyes were hidden behind a visor, you knew just where to look. It was as though you could see her underneath the Mjolnir, to the person inside.
"I think, Naomi, what matters most in life is surrounding yourself with people who love you for who you are." You paused, furrowing your brow for a moment before nodding to yourself, tilting your head to the side a bit, and giving her the most beautiful smile she had ever seen grace your face. "And I think that's why I love being around you."
At your words, the Spartan could've sworn her heart skipped a beat.
"Before I met you? I don't know. I think I was just going through the motions." At that, you frowned and your eyebrows furrowed. "I was the soldier I was expected to be. Everyone wanted me to be like my Uncle Forge that I wasn't allowed to be myself. So I hid who I really was. And it worked, didn't it? I was who people wanted me to be, but I wasn't happy."
"But I don't have to hide who I am or worry about maintaining chain of command or rules and regs with you." You placed your hand on the table, rubbing circles across your palm with your thumb. Naomi was fighting the urge to interweave her fingers with yours. "I'm not just another uniform to you, not just a rank or a name, or just another gun. I feel seen. Like I matter."
You stopped tracing your palm and left your hand upturned to her, a silent invitation left for her should she choose to.
"I've been fighting this war before I could even enlist, and it is only in these quiet moments with you outside of the madness of combat where I feel alive. With you, I have purpose beyond fighting." The look in your eyes was something she couldn't put into words, but it left her speechless. "With you, I can be human again."
Of all the things Naomi had expected you to say, she hadn't expected you to say that you felt the same way about her as she feels for you. With a warm racing heart, Naomi gently, hesitantly, took your hand in hers. You squeezed, and she squeezed back. She looked from your joined hands and back to you. Adrenaline mixed with the happiness burning at her core and the words at the tip of her were given form.
"Y/N, I-"
"Gunnery Sergeant L/N!"
The moment was interrupted by a member of your squad bumbling his way into the armory and Naomi had never felt so disappointed. It seemed her luck had run out, but your words were, once again, replaying in her head. It seems you had a gift for that.
You sighed and pulled your hand from hers, straightening up in your seat and speaking with a voice that wasn't yours.
"What do you need, private?"
If the ODST saw both of you holding hands, he gave no sign that he did. Whether out of loyalty to you or fear of her, she didn't know.
"The Captain needs you on the bridge, sir. Told me to come get you."
You sighed through your nostrils and ran a hand through your hair. "Alright. Tell her I'll be there in five."
You waited for the recruit to leave before you allowed yourself to not be what your rank required you to be as you turned to the Spartan-II. Your eyes showed the same disappointment that she felt.
"Sorry to cut things short." You gave her an apologetic smile. "Duty calls."
She met your gaze and handed you your helmet. "Maybe we can continue this later?"
"Of course." Placing your helmet on your head, you made your way out of the armory but stopped with one leg out the door. "Actually, how does dinner sound?"
"But we already have dinner together?"
"But this time, I'll cook." You paused. "Or, try to."
Naomi beamed. "I'd like that."
You smiled, and gave her a wink. "See you around, Naomi."
As you left, Naomi laughed to herself in the now empty armory before allowing her head to rest upon the table. "Oh Naomi," she sighed, bumping her head against the table a few times so she could think clearly. "You're such a fool."
Straight-up feral noises escaped me at work, this is my bedtime story tonight. Also, these are my honest reaction-
Naomi-010 never believed she would fall for someone.
And yet, here we are bbygirl. I'm already giggling-
She knew of the concept of love and the romantic feelings that came with it, but she believed herself beyond those feelings. She was a Spartan, one of Doctor Halsey's supersoldiers. It was her duty as a soldier to protect humanity. Whatever the cost. She didn't have time for romance or love. She didn't feel herself worthy of it.
NAOMI, YOU ARE WORTHY OF ALL THE LOVE. I'm in distress, we're a paragraph in and I'm having feelings.
Then, she was partnered with you. An ODST Gunnery Sergeant with a smile brighter than a star and a heart bigger than the Milky Way.
I love when astronomy is tied in with her. She's a n e r d-
You made her feel seen. Like she mattered. She loved you. She was sure of it.
*insert me kicking my feet.* Spartans in love are my favorite, they're just awkward dorks.
"Can I ask you something?"
"Always."
I don't know why but these two things just hit my heart, Naomi learning she has someone at her side no matter what
The Spartan had to summon the training and discipline distilled into her so that she could ignore the burning of her ears. "How-" She began before pausing. "I don't know how to ask it."
THE PINK EARS-
I love that she's honest about not knowing what to say
The Spartan-II took a deep breath, recollecting herself. She allowed herself time to think, to not think tactically. After a few minutes, with a deep breath and a wish for luck, she finally asked: "What do you think of me?"
A sweet angel that I would marry in a heartbeat and who I would adore teaching how to be human too :)
"Not as a soldier." She interrupted. "What do you think of me?"
*gasp* Naomi, you're being straightforward, stop it~ *brushes hair behind ear*
"Now it's my turn to not know how to speak." You blushed. "It's embarrassing, honestly. I'm not very good with words and I-I don't want you to think I'm some kind of fool."
DORKS IN LOVE, DORKS IN LOVE
You took a deep breath.
Now tell her you're in love with her
There was something else in your eyes when you had looked to her and had met her gaze. You had a gift for that. Somehow, even though she wore a helmet and her eyes were hidden behind a visor, you knew just where to look. It was as though you could see her underneath the Mjolnir, to the person inside.
OKIE-
This is one of my favorite things with the Spartans, when they feel like their future partner can see through this 'second' skin and stare directly at them. I just love how unnerved they must feel that they don't have this wall anymore.
and giving her the most beautiful smile she had ever seen grace your face.
*cough*simp*cough*
At your words, the Spartan could've sworn her heart skipped a beat.
Good. Rizz her up
"Everyone wanted me to be like my Uncle Forge that I wasn't allowed to be myself. So I hid who I really was. And it worked, didn't it? I was who people wanted me to be, but I wasn't happy."
FORGE! UNCLE FORGE! Yeah that tracks cause we're both baddies *slides sunglasses on*
You stopped tracing your palm and left your hand upturned to her, a silent invitation left for her should she choose to.
Dude, why the heck does this have me on the edge of my seat?? I seriously just did the most dramatic gasp
"I've been fighting this war before I could even enlist, and it is only in these quiet moments with you outside of the madness of combat where I feel alive. With you, I have purpose beyond fighting." The look in your eyes was something she couldn't put into words, but it left her speechless. "With you, I can be human again."
This-
This is a confession-
and I'm having a full-on fangirl moment.
I can only imagine how the Spartans must feel to hear this, that someone feels so comfortable and human with them while everyone else sees them as machines or heroes or other things I can't think of.
Dorks in love-
"Gunnery Sergeant L/N!"
NO, LEAVE, I'M HAVING A MOMENT WITH MY FUTURE W I F E
If the ODST saw both of you holding hands, he gave no sign that he did. Whether out of loyalty to you or fear of her, she didn't know.
Both.
"Of course." Placing your helmet on your head, you made your way out of the armory but stopped with one leg out the door. "Actually, how does dinner sound?"
A DATE?! I had to stop an stare at this for a solid minute
"But we already have dinner together?"
Naomi, I swear, you sweet angel-
You can do no wrong
As you left, Naomi laughed to herself in the now empty armory before allowing her head to rest upon the table. "Oh Naomi," she sighed, bumping her head against the table a few times so she could think clearly. "You're such a fool."
I-
THIS-
I adore this ending, that is so cute and the mental image just has me kicking my feet.
Naomi is just a dork in love
and omg

okay so. this is like. no one's business but my own. and I'm gonna try not to overexplain. but I'm finally going off one of my medications; my doctor and I decided today is as good a day as any, and I'm in an okay place, so I'm going to slowly work myself off it over the coming weeks.
the bad aspect of this is it can have some wicked withdrawal side effects, which is part of why I want to go off it; last year my (old) doctor wasn't refilling my prescriptions so I went off it and didn't know there would be side effects. it was not a fun experience.
the good aspect of this is my (new) doctor already has me on my replacement medication, though a small dose, and hopefully this will help with the side effects of going off my other medication. only time will tell.
I'm posting this because I don't know how / if this will impact my mood and energy. like, I know I usually play things by ear and I'm pretty inconsistent, but that will be especially true this month. and I'm going to make myself step away if I start feeling erratic or moody, because I don't want to be like that on the dash. I've said and done some shitty things when I haven't been in a good place and I don't want to do that again, you know ? I'm trying to prepare for the worst, but I'm hoping for the best.
anyway. I appreciate ya'll being patient and understanding and supportive. I'm gonna do my best to be the best I can be through this. time will tell I guess owo; wish me luck
#《 ° puffin.exe 》 im a puffin ! i dont do much#° mobile post !#° personal !#° ask to tag !#medication mention#drugs mention#i... dont really know how to talk about this. and i dont want yall to think im making excuses.#im honestly nervous about this. im nervous i will end up in a bad place and end up doing or saying shitty things without impulse control.

First of all I just want to say I'm sorry to hear you're dealing with a health scare atm and I really hope it will end up being nothing but a scare. <3 Second I hope you don't mind but I'm actually having a biopsy done of my cervix too in a couple of weeks and I'm scared to death. Is it okay if I ask you if it hurt?
Hi anon!
Thank you for this sweet message, it really means a lot to me. I'm crossing everything I have it will turn out to be nothing but just that; a health scare.
I'm so sorry to hear you're having a biopsy done as well, and I really hope you get the best possible results from it. ❤️
Putting the rest of this under a 'Read More' for those who don't want to read about things like this.
I'll admit that I was pretty scared, too, in the weeks leading up to it. As with everything else, it all depends on where you are getting it done in the world, which clinic, which doctor, etc. BUT - for my part, and I hope this can be comforting to you: It didn't hurt at all. I was given a local anesthetic prior to the biopsy itself, which was the only thing I even felt during the whole procedure. And I barely even felt that, to be honest. I'd classify a blood test as a lot more uncomfortable than getting the anesthetic injected, and my doctor was very generous with it.
The actual biopsy itself, where she was "pinching" off tiny pieces of my cervix (not sure how they do it in whichever country you're in, but here they literally pinch off pieces of the cervix), I didn't feel at all.
Of course, this is probably a very individual thing, but for me it wasn't painful at all. You will probably have to expect quite a bit of bleeding afterwards, though. I haven't experienced any pain whatsoever following the procedure, just the bleeding.
I will, however, give you one very vital piece of advice: If you're going to be given a local anesthetic, please make sure you eat something prior to your appointment. I didn't, and I got really lightheaded, dizzy and nauseous like a minute after she had given me the anesthesia, which is a very normal reaction to have if you don't make sure to eat before you go in for your appointment. So please, please, please make sure you eat first.
And ask your doctor plenty of questions if you have them! I did, and getting them answered really put me at ease despite being quite a stressful situation.
I'm wishing you the best of luck for your appointment, anon, and I hope your experience will be as painless as mine was. And I really hope your results will come back with the best possible news.
And if you want to and feel comfortable doing so, please feel free to send me a DM if you'd like to talk some more about it. I'd be happy to listen. ❤️

I think it's so cool that you're a figure skater. How did you get into that? I've debated it myself, but I'm disabled so I'm unsure if I should attempt it or not, lol, but those who can do it have always impressed me and seemed extremely magical. There's no need to answer this if you're uncomfortable, obviously, I'm just curious :)
I just realized I’ve left this in my inbox for so long I’m so sorry man 😭 /gen
1. Thank you so so much! That means a lot to me.
2. How I got into it and my process:
Essentially the way I got into it was that one day I went to an ice rink with my cousin, fell many times, and loved every second of it. That’s what sparked it. I got home with a new hyperfixation that had formed nearly spontaneously and started researching like crazy, it was all I could think about for about 2 weeks before my mom caved in and bought me a very beginners lesson which I passed the first day and went to the second level. (Keep in mind, it’s not needed to commit to buying skates for quite a while! I didn’t buy skates until having had skates for nearly 4 months)
From there I flew through levels pretty fast, and became friends with someone who I now consider to be my absolute best friend. 4 months into skating, right after I bought my first skates, my coach who had taken me under her wing particularly decided to have me perform in a show, The Nutcracker. Was I terrified? Absolutely. But, I was in a group of other skaters and it taught me loads of fundamentals of skating, and performance. I highly recommend taking any chance to do shows like this, especially during the winter months which have great help for beginners and advanced skaters alike. After the nutcrackers my coach skipped me multiple levels into a higher up program.
I’ve been skating for nearly a year now and have competed in countless small programs in my city as well as two different competitions on a regional level and will be in a duet in a show this august as well as a soloist in a huge show this winter.
3. Disability wise: Personally speaking I have fibromyalgia and hEDS, and I’ve talked to my doctors multiple times about the safety of it for me and they’ve all passed it off as okay, plus being on the ice all the time essentially functions as a full body ice pack which feels like heaven if you have chronic pain. Please, before you start skating talk to your doctor and physical therapist about if it would be a good choice for you. I was not diagnosed when I started skating but was in a lucky enough position to be able to continue as well as being encouraged by my doctors to continue it; however, not everyone is going to be the same and it’s important to talk to your doctor about it as you become more advanced for your own safety.
Also, don’t be afraid to tell your coaches and community about your diagnosis! In fact, lots of skaters I know have some kind of a disability, and many of the staff have the ability to give certain accommodations on ice depending on the rink you skate at.
4. A bit of encouragement: Believe me, progress is possible and everyone works at their own pace, there is no shame in being a beginner and I promise you figure skaters are some of the sweetest communities you can be a part of, if you ever need any help I’ve never once had a more experienced skater be rude or even passive aggressive. I hope you decide to make the leap to figure skating, it has helped me so much and I hope it can do the same for you. I hope you have a fantastic day / night and I’m wishing you luck!

Hello! I'm not sure what proper etiquette is here so I hope I'm not overstepping, pls feel free to ignore if I am. You mentioned in a tag and/or post about having estrogen allergy? My wife is dealing with that, and it's... so difficult, most doctors don't know what it is and we thought we had a short term solution so she could finally get some sleep (she hardly sleeps at all anymore because of nightly itching). It's so hard to find ANY information on it and we're not sure how to proceed anymore. Just...wondering if you have any information at all? I'm sorry if this sounds desperate, it's because...it is lol.
Thanks kindly, from, your friendly neighborhood very worried lesbian wife.
Dw anon, you're not overstepping!! I've been in hormone hell since I was 13 so I know how much of a relief it is to find someone who understands for once. I don't believe that me or my mom (who's also affected) have the same allergic reactions that your wife is experiencing, but I'm hoping that I can help anyways.
Okay so first off, the doctors not knowing about estrogen allergies is bullshit. They may not be super common, but they've also been documented since at LEAST 1921. Just a cursory google search has yielded two scientific articles about it (that looked legit when I scanned through them before going to lecture, where I'm typing this rn), which I'll put right here:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5745953/
https://waojournal.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s40413-017-0176-x
I'd suggest trying to read through medical journal articles on it because despite the density of the information and the difficulty of the language, medical articles tend to be more comprehensive about the symptoms and causes than ones written for the general public. They also mean that you have the language to confront doctors about it if you wish- which you'll have to do, because if she's experiencing an allergic reaction like itchieness, then I'd also be concerned about potential anaphalaxis if her reactions get more severe. The intolerance that me and my mother had manifested in different ways (migraines, muscle weakness, disorintation, being hypersensitive to food/unable to keep food down, extreme drowsieness leading to being bed-bound), but those weren't quite on the level of being so itchy that you can't sleep. A more typical allergic reaction is something to be concerned about and I highly suggest not only stressing this to your doctor, but also getting confrontational about it and meeting multiple different doctors if needed before you get care. Force them to run tests, force them to listen to you. That's my biggest regret when it comes to my hormone issues, because they just got progressively worse and worse until I had to go to the ER for it. Turns out that I was not only estrogen intolerant, I also had hypothyroidism! And nobody in 10 years of appointments thought to check for that!!
As for what helps me and my mom, I found that progesterone hormone treatment was effective for us both (until it stopped working for me, but I still don't know why that is. It works for my mother). You might want to be cautious about trying this because in the articles I read, some people were just as sensitive to progesterone, but it's worth a shot. I used to get the DEPO-provera (or however its spelled) shot to offset the issues caused by estrogen, which is an injection once every few months. I also found that once I went on testosterone that a good chunk of my hormonal health issues straight-up vanished, but obviously that's not exactly the best option for everyone. I'm on a masculinizing dose so maybe you can do a really super low-grade dose, but I'm telling you about it mostly just to get the point across that HRT works. It's not just for trans people- cis people get hormone fuckery and need hormone therapy as well.
But there's also proposed solutions in the articles I linked, so I hope those are helpful or give you an idea of treatment options. Best of luck!

Hullo, don't feel pressure to answer this ask as it's quite weird
So I am a (heavily) questioning system (a few years now), however I am not old enough to get a diagnosis. I am not against my own self-DX, but I am extremely hesitant to it due to the... nature of Tumblr, and it's influence, and I do not wish to be exaggerating in some form nor do I wish to be misinformed.. I have read a lot of articles, ones that I would say are credible, but I am still hesitant even though they line up quite nicely with my experiences.
I am wondering if you (guys) would potentially have any advice on how I should move forward, if there are any disorders that are extremely similar to DID that I could be mistaking my symptoms for.
(I do not experience blackouts, or obvious switching which is why I am severely hesitant.)
Thank you in advance, or thank you for not answering if it is quite weird.
hi, i'm answering this but i want to preface by saying that i am not a mental health provider and this should not be taken as serious medical advice, it is just what worked for me.
my genuine, honest, "do i have a CDD advice" is get off the internet. get out of system spaces, stop researching it, get away from the echo chambers and document what persists beyond that. go touch grass and journal and see what persists beyond syscord or sysblr or whatever it is.
if it's still happening, and you're still concerned, and it is at all possible: talk to a doctor when you can. assuming that you have been tracking symptoms, you'd have a very real "hey this is an issue that i need solved" to give to a professional. if you can't see a doctor for whatever reason (no judgement here), that's a great place to start triaging. what's the biggest issue? what is impacting you the most?
from there, it's a massive puzzle. does a notes app system work better for you? what about obsidian notes? what about a physical journal, or sticky notes? what helps you function to the level that you need?
if you are dead-set on labeling your experiences (which you don't need to do), i would look at BPD and OSDD-1 in addition to DID. i would however, advise against being too set on one diagnosis. do not look at a disorder and make your symptoms fit it. if one doesn't fit all the way, that's okay! it's not supposed to fit every single aspect.
you mentioned that you're not old enough for a diagnosis, and i would highly recommend---if that is the only issue that you haven't gone to a doctor---talking to a therapist. you don't need a diagnosis for talk therapy, and it can help a lot with surface-level symptoms, as well as getting referrals in the future.
focus on you and what you need, and ignore online system culture. do not force your symptoms into a mold that doesn't fit, and talk to a therapist. be open to other possibilities and other answers.
best of luck figuring it out. dms are open if you want more info about how i did stuff/how to move forwards, but please: talk to a professional. if you believe that you're experiencing something like DID, that's not something good, or normal. it is a disorder, and if you think you have it: talk to someone if it is safe for you to do so.
