I just finished pen15 and I have so many thoughts that I'll never be able to articulate. Out of all these thoughts, one stands out the most. It's a memory I have that reminds me of the show.

When I was thirteen, my family and I took a trip to the states and I had to share a bed with my siblings. It was the first time in a long time where I was sleeping in a bed that wasn't mine and I was having a hard time falling asleep. As the night progressed and I still couldn't fall asleep, I crept out of my hotel room and down to the snack machines. My dad had given me a couple of dollar bills to spend, so like any 13 yr old, I wanted a chocolate bar in the middle of the night.

As I crossed the main lobby of the hotel, I spotted a girl around my age sitting on one of the lounge sofas. She had a book she was flipping through in her hands and as I crossed her, she looked up at me. We only made eye contact for a moment but she raised one of her hands and waved at me. She was clutching an OhHenry bar. The same chocolate bar I wanted. I wave back but continue walking towards the snack machines. I had been so concerned with getting that chocolate bar. I inserted my money and punched in the numbers for the OhHenry bar, all the while thinking of that girl.

We were nothing alike. We certainly didn't look anything alike and she seemed much more mature for her age. The only thing that brought us together was the fact that we both had cravings for OhHenry bars in the middle of the night. As I passed the same sofa, the girl was gone but her wrapper remained on the sofa. I never saw her again, but I'll remember her smile for the rest of my life. I felt connected to this girl and we never even spoke.

That's what it's like being a young girl. It's the feeling you get when you see another girl your age and your heart fills with happiness and sorrow. You're both glad there's someone else going through the same thing you're going through, and also sad for the same reason. It's the feeling you get when you know something is wrong with your best friend, even though no one else believes you. It's the feeling you get when you look across the room and make a face at your friend, and they instantly understand what you mean. It's the feeling of holding each other close and promising you'll stay together through thick and thin and then breaking that promise when you go to high school.

Pen15 perfectly encapsulates these feelings. This show is so worth the watch, especially if you're a girl. Now, in my twenties, and looking back on my life especially through the lens of Pen15, I realize how much time I wasted on wanting to be beautiful. I so desperately wanted to be kissed but also shyed away from any boy's attention. Pen15 perfectly encapsulates this fear of growing older and still wanting to be taken seriously. Thank you Anna and Maya for this show, I know I'm gonna rewatch it forever. And maybe in thirty years, I'll cringe in new ways and laugh at my 20 yr old self who thought she knew everything.

Hey! October is upon us, so I'd like to spread a little PSA!

Do not buy any chocolate candy from Mars, Hershey or Nestle.

These companies are KNOWN to use child and slave labor in their chocolate production process, and are even facing lawsuits for it. Most people think of Nestle only for this, but all three companies are vile and guilty.

They lost the suit because the Supreme Court dismissed it, but after everything with Roe V. Wade, we know for a fact that the Supreme Court is trustworthy and has the best humanitarian interests at heart, right?

That was sarcastic.

You know why the court case was dismissed?

Because the companies "have the right" to not disclose where the raw ingredients of the chocolates are coming from.

That's right. They aren't being charged of slave labor because they get to keep it a secret. It's apparently their right to do so. They are only concerned with the quality of the product, and not the quality of life of the people who make them. So they continue to use slave labor.

The judge even admitted that their practices are "reprehensible," but legally, nothing can be done.

So, what does this mean? Simple!

If you want chocolate, fret not! There are several companies that are ethically run and Fair Trade! A standout and my particular favorite is Tony's Chocolonely, which is not only slavery-free, but adamantly and actively anti-slavery!

TLDR, Nestle, Mars and Hershey use slave labor. Do not buy any of their products this Halloween.

Overnight we had incredily crazy storms! I think 11 of the kiddos crawled into bed with Mom. It was loud! ⛈⛈⛈ We fell asleep and Henry was next to me. Oh Henry! Hunger Detecting Dogs

After Canada legalized weed, more people than ever were experiencing the munchies. Good news for Oh Henry! 4:25, a bar specially formulated for the intense hunger that hits 5 minutes after 4:20. Bad news for many dedicated, longtime stoners who found the bar sold out everywhere, depriving them of a product made specifically for them. To right this wrong, we headed to the Hotbox Cafe for the 4/20 Block Party with a special stash of 4:25 bars that anyone who was actually high could get access to. But we had to be 100% sure. So we created Hunger Detecting Dogs campaign, a new line of work for marijuana detector dogs forced into early retirement by legalization.
