Finally finished Saiki K and I just wanna say
I HATE THESE MFS 🗣️🗣️🔥💥💥💥
(Uhhh spoilers for the whole thing)
(Oh yeah ramble warning)
(Edit: considering how much traction this is getting, I just want to make it clear that these are my opinions. I’m open to hearing you out on yours as long as it’s not too heated. This wasn’t really meant to be too serious. It is also alright if you disagree with my opinions. These aren’t facts. I am also also well aware that most of their characterization are supposed to be gags and that they’re fictional so I respect them from that point. I just wouldn’t like them if they were actual people.)
I hate these motherfuckers, and I’m surprised there’s almost no shade thrown towards them. Let’s crack it down with these sorry excuses of the parents first.
Now, I’m well aware that this is a comedy anime and characters flaws aren’t exactly a bad thing. Their flaws are supposed to be comedic and I respect that from that stand point.
BUT AS A PERSON WHO CONSUMES MEDIA AND HAS OPINIONS, I WANT TO SACK THEM SHITLESS.
They practically only view Kusuo’s powers as an excuse to do less work, in both inside and outside the house. They constantly use him as a mop to clean up their own shortcomings without doing anything theirselves. Even until the very end, when Kusuo wanted to give up his powers, his own fucking father only thought about his so precious and convenient transport to work. What is this man. I know no one is a perfect parent and that all people have their quirks but this guy is actually so fucking horrible.
The mom isn’t all that bad, but she isn’t unexcused for the way she and the “dad” just allowed the relationship between Kusuo and Kusuke get so fucking toxic. When Kusuke made Kusuo’s limiters and revealed that if he look of the right one that his powers would get revealed to the world, a thing they would all know Kusuo would absolutely hate, they could’ve easily scolded him for it but NO. They could’ve taught the siblings to actually appreciate each others’ abilities to a healthy degree but NO. They could’ve taught Kusuo the importance of respecting and being humble to others without his abilities but NO. They even just allowed Kusuke’s toxic competitiveness to grow by allowing him to go to London and shit. I know no parent is ready to raise an Elon Musk and an esper but at least try to make your own fucking household a home for your own children. Now, onto the rotting maggot that is Kusuke.
I FUCKING HATE KUSUKE.
Now, I know anyone would be jealous of their younger sibling having more ability than them and I know that his parents are (as I already established) just the worst but can this guy actually fucking relax??
Like has once in his sorry excuse of a life has he thought that “hey isn’t this just a tiny bit petty??” “Isn’t putting a tracker on my younger brother an invasion of his own privacy??” “Is making a fucking robot clone of my brother, making it do the things my own brother is obviously uncomfortable with, making it fucking attack him on sight, and then brainwashing his friend into hating him so much that it sprouts another psychic ability just a bit more fucked up than I thought??”
I know people hate this line but YOU’RE A FUCKING ADULT. YOU’RE NINETEEN YEARS OLD. GROW UP.
Also can we talk about how he’s all “I want to prove I can control my brother” when he already has his thumb pushed down on Kusuo? What’s that? You have a way to make everyone know about his powers? You can track his moves? You know everything about his powers and the ways and money to stop them? And you did this for fun? Con-fucking-grats you have control over him. He has anxiety now. Thanks for your hard work. I’m pretty sure that if he had any less morals than Kusuo would be his fucking slave.
(And yes, I know that the right limiter gimmick was taken off but it’s the thought that counts and there’s nothing but MALICE behind those thoughts.)
His only defense for putting his brother through inhumane experiments is “oh Kusuo has psychic powers he practically isn’t human”. KUSUO ISNT HUMAN MY ASS. Kusuo has more humanity than you. That robot clone you built of him has more humanity than you. That poor rotting maggot that I unfairly compared itself to you has more humanity than you. This mad scientist shithead has practically ZERO HUMANITY.
And I think we all fucking knew that the stopping-all-of-Kusuo’s-powers limiter was so he can do his world domination shit. Without his brother’s powers, who was there to stop him from doing that robot world domination thing from that one episode all over again? NO ONE. THAT’S WHO.
and I know that I’m getting so worked up over a fictional story but I JUST WANT TO GIVE THEM A SWEET REIGAN ARATAKA TALK.
“Aren’t you his parents? Shouldn’t you act with more responsibility instead of treating your own son like a fucking taxi?? For shame. I’m calling child protection services. He’s still a fucking minor after all. Minors aren’t that mentally mature, you know.”
“Oh? You put your own brother through inhumane experiments because of his ESP? That same ESP that he had no control over being born with? Why are you harassing someone just because they were born with something they didn’t have control being born with? Should I call the cops?”
Heck, I just want to shake their brains out, beat some senses into them, and give Kusuo some therapy because my goodness.
sigh
Yare yare

My thoughts on Episode 3--Hunted.
Most of you lovelies already realize this, but my thoughts tend to zig and zag quite a bit, lol. So. To save some of you the headache and spare you from seeing spoilers you’d rather not see yet, I’m again placing them behind a cut.
First things first. I have totally turned into Yvette Nicole Brown with her TWD notebooks, lol, and I’m not even sorry. I just felt like it would be fun to go back when the final episode is in the books and see how well my thoughts from these early episodes line up with what I’m feeling when we say our (not-so) final goodbyes.
But that’s enough about that. Let’s get to this thing.
It really is insane how very much I love Melissa McBride. Just hearing her doing the previously on TWD recap voiceover makes me ridiculously happy.
Cole! Dude! We hardly knew ya.
Not gonna lie. That first shot of Maggie in all the chaos reminded of a shirt I’ve seen. It says--”Well, well, well. If it isn’t the consequences of my actions.”
I have to hand it to Angela and the rest of her team. These opening scenes--on all 3 episodes--have been BOMB so far. They really hook you in right away. At least IMHO.
I realize I’m behind the game on this little tidbit, but how much do I adore the fact that Dog is now in the opening credits?
Okay. Alexandria might look like it’s been on some kind of post-apocalyptic bender but all our girls are looking beautiful as ever. Maybe it’s Maybelline, lol.
I love to see Kelly and Carol still gravitating toward each other. It really speaks to each woman’s heart. Carol wants to make amends so badly and Kelly just has the most lovely, warm, forgiving heart.
Carol’s point about Alexandria still needing the horses to help with the heavy lifting and pointing out the walls and rebuilding won’t matter quite as much if they’re limited by their hunger and what they can physically lift on their own isn’t wrong. But I’m sure the same viewers that were okay with Daryl and Co. going out on Maggie’s suicide mission (using the same reasoning) and saying it made sense for the bigger picture will pretend not to recognize that the same element is there in Carol’s desire to go out there and look for the horses. You know. Because it was Carol’s idea and not that of their fave(s).
Aaron, Man. Or maybe I should say Angela. You just had to put a pit of dread in my belly mentioning Buttons like that. RIP, Buttons. You deserved better. I’m still traumatized.
Look at all the babies bonding. Look at RJ getting to sit at the big kid table.
“My mom always comes back.” She damn well better. Those babies need her. Until she does, though, Uncle Daryl and Aunt Carol (and Aunt Rosita and everybody else) are going to be there.
Anyway. Poor RJ. He barely ever gets any lines, lol.
Hershel and Judith are obviously the mini-adults in this group and baby Rhee is already more cynical and jaded than his sweet daddy was until they reached Alexandria and the wheels started to come off.
So. Does Maggie just think everybody’s already dead here or what? Hmm.
You know. Any building can be creepy AF when the lights are off and it’s dark, lol. Any building.
So much darkness so far this season. I’m going to have to invest in some blackout curtains. I just know it.
Where are all those stairs leading? Why am I thinking of Hitchcock? Am I mixing up my scary, suspenseful movies? Probably.
Of fucking course, Maggie dropped her flashlight. Thank goodness she had that lighter at the ready just before Ghost Face Reaper took a swipe at her.
Is that Father G with a screwdriver impaled in his thigh? Listen. These people deserve a Mega Bottle of pain killers and a week just vegging out in a soft, luxurious bed.
All these horror movie tropes. Some of them are cheesy, yes. But I’m totally here for it.
LMAO. That’s it, Maggie. A good old punch in the nuts works every time.
Alden really is having a terrible, horrible, no good very bad day.
Negan is still Negan. Self-serving and looking out for number one. But I believe the man really does feel the group is his group too. He’s like that long lost, sketchy uncle nobody wants to acknowledge much less invite to the dinner table, but that bond? However thin? Is there.
I am both hating that Maggie is being forced to work with the man that murdered her husband (my baby Glenn) and finding it fascinating the lengths she’s willing to go to survive. This your plan, Angela?
Rosita and Carol! How sad is it that the last really significant scene I can remember the two of these women sharing was way back? Before Rick and Co. attacked Negan’s outpost and Maggie and Carol were subsequently taken? If only the show had done more of these kind of scenes.
How much do I love all the girls working together? Gimps would never. They’d all be stuck back at Alexandria minding the kids and the community.
Shallow aside--Rosita is so pretty in this scene.
Rosita being worried about Carol honestly makes my heart hurt, because it’s about damn time more of them actually did. Her saying Abraham is trying to tell her something in her dreams is interesting. Angela sure loves her dreams, doesn’t she?
Where are Daryl’s dreams, hmm? No. Seriously. I guess they want to give some viewers plausible deniability until the bitter end.
“Really? We’re just gonna go toward the screaming? Cool.” Hahaha. You know. Even the smart people in horror movies sometimes bite it, Negan. Just saying. Maggie really does need to “stop running up the staircase” when she could just run out the front door though, lol.
Poor Duncan. I think you could have been another Tyreese, Jerry type for me.
WTF does this show have against horses? Those poor creatures.
Kelly is totally me right now. I’d be freaking inconsolable.
Carol needed that hug. Thank you, Magna. From the bottom of this tired fangirl’s heart, thank you.
Why give us that beautiful, golden shot with the horses when you’re planning to stab us through the heart later and twist the knife. Oh. Yeah. That’s exactly why.
Oh snap! Father G’s delivery when he tells that Reaper “I’m not. God isn’t here anymore.” Cold as ice.
Judas. That the Reapers’ work. Or. Damn. Either way, that’s harsh.
Back to what Alden was saying. All these oprhaned children. Who’s going to take on Adam if he dies? That poor kid has had a rough go of it. Knowing that, makes you wonder what Alden was thinking volunteering for the suicide mission.
Omigosh. There went Agatha. Terrible way to go. Right, Beatrice?
I’m sobbing. Carol with the horse. That hurt my baby so much but she hurt herself for her family the same way she has been doing since the Prison. Melissa Mcbride? When she cries, I cry. Every effin’ time. Aaron being there just made it hurt more. But at least someone was there to see how and really take in how she continues to break pieces of herself off to keep her family as whole and safe and happy as she can.
Rewinding a minute--that Magna and Carol conversation. I get Magna’s reasoning too. I do. But Angela is just making everything so dire right now so that the sun when Connie is ultimate found shines a ltitle brighter.
Those babies know they’re eating horse. I could never.
That’s got to be a different Coco. She’s even smaller. But she’s gorgeous.
Fucking finally. Angela having the other characters notice after an eternity of being blind to it, just how much Carol sacrifices of herself for them. It’s so long overdue and I imagine Rosita’s even more worried for Carol now. It’s a shame it’s taken 11 seasons. My baby’s had blood on her hands trying to keep her family safe and whole and happy and fed for a long damn time. So heartbreaking watching her try to scrub the blood away.
Sweet, sweet hug that Kelly gave Magna. She’s such a sweetheart kid sis to all of them, isn’t she?
Interesting place of refuge. A gutted church. A visual symbol, Angela, of where Maggie and the rest of our people are now perhaps?
“It’s easy for you, isn’t it? Being reckless with sombody’s life...” Maggie. Maggie. Those words would have hit so much harder if we hadn’t spent the majority of the last 2.5 episodes watching you ignore sound advice just because it came out of the mouth of somebody you (justifiably) hate.
But will Alden be there when Maggie and Negan get back? That is the question. Or will he eventually Lucille himself?
That little bit of lineup Negan music to remind the audience of Negan lovers and sympathizers that he once took great pleasure in murderously swinging a bag at people’s heads was a nice, subtle touch there. Like agree with her or not, Maggie is literally left to rely on the hope, however small it is, that Negan has changed just enough that he won’t try to finish a job he taken on years before--killing what’s left of her.
Oh lawd. Next episode sees the return of a character literally nobody asked for. How excited am I not?
Dog better not be harmed or so help me.
Now for Angela’s weekly explanations of WTF she/there were thinking because they been doing this plausible deniability thing so long some people out there watching with biased, muddy stan glasses can no longer separate head canon from canon.
Is Maggie worried at all about Daryl or does she just assume his superhero powers are in full effect in this episode?
“You can’t really say it wasn’t going to happen anyway.” Not Angela pointing out that simply laying the blame for literally everything bad that ever happens at Carol’s feet isn’t the answer. Say it louder for those in the back. Alpha was going to do what Alpha wanted to do.
“There is love there. There is respect there. However, there’s also frustration...” You damn skippy. Friendships and human relationships are complex AF. Like Carol. She’s honestly one of the most complicated characters on this show and any show, IMHO. That’s what makes her so memorable and such a lightning rod for discussion.
I know I might be in a minority, but I really feel like they need more of those little scenes between the kids to keep things real.
Kang saying she always feels like she’s going to get murdered in a staircase or parking lot is relatable, funny, and sad all at the same time. It’s a girl thing.
Why is Carol’s story giving me Dark Knight vibes? Like I feel like she’ll gladly shoulder the burden of their distrust, their hate, or their judgment as long as the hard choices she makes keeps them safe. And she’s still ultimately going to come back to save their asses even when they forsake her. Just like Bruce Wayne/Batman. Am I reaching too far, lol? Because sometimes I do that.
Anyway. This is the third episode of the season and the third episode in a row that I mostly enjoyed. I don’t know if I’m just so relieved and happy to have all the characters and my show back or what, but overall? I’ve been pleased with the episodes and found something to love in all of them.
There’s a much stronger horror vibe woven throughout Season 11 so far. I feel like it’s a return to the roots of the show and I like that. Literally none of the characters are making perfect choices and this viewer is here for it. My only complaint so far is there hasn’t been enough Carol but what we’ve been given has felt like a gift and significant in a way that Gimps’ version was not. Also? I really hope the trend of the ladies working together and supporting each other continues because they rule the TWD world, lol.
Hope you enjoyed at least some of my TWD word vomit.
Until next episode.

—gen z mc with uesugi-takeda + misc. forces
ahh, i’m so glad people liked my gen z oda hcs! lol it’s usually pretty slow from my writing blog experiences until now, but i’m rlly happy! i was planning to do u-t and the others but then i decided to stop at oda and continue another day. thx for the asks tho! and yeah, i do take requests but it’s more of a pasttime, since this whole blog is just my stupid ideas written out and shared out there.
also someone said that a gen z mc could be old enough to romance the warlords, like, early twenties. and yes, very fair if u wanna romance ur mans with memes and existentialism go for it!! i just think it adds more to the comedy side of this child they have to babysit, while not fearing death or any consequences from their dumb of Ass decisions. someone who fears no death and armed with no braincells is a fool, but a Child who fears no death and armed with no braincells is also a fool, but more bizzare and has That Vibe y’know
@niphredil-14 and @arthotsglasses
tw: s*icidal, violent jokes treated in a light manner
also spoilers to some things of their characters
—kenshin:
who is this,, , sassy lost child??
he first saw you prepared to throw hands with ronins who were being Elite Dickheads. ofc, armed with nothing compared to the sworded-adults, he had to interfere.
no matter how cold he treated you, masking his secret !!!-like concern, you seemed so unfazed through it. you still interacted with him like normal,,,,, why?? do you want a death wish?
and each time he threatened you with,, anything, you responded with, “the only one who gets to hurt & kill me, is ME”
...... what?
he’s convinced you’re the biggest fool of a person. and he’d be right but even so, he has a weirdly strong need to protect you as you two got closer. you’re often with sasuke, so it’s harder to avoid you.
even with all the Horrible jokes you make on a daily basis, if your passionate side with everyone having equal rights of being treated as human, for him it shows a side of you that makes you seem precious and pure and kind hearted.
and the overprotective side increases.
which is, ,, a bit problematic sometimes cause you have the tendency to target and piss off anyone in a 10 meter range by just one (1) sassy comment, along with your lack of impulse control and blurting out everything in your mind. it’s made you a lot of short enemies in the sengoku period, and kenshin would always be ready to slice them down behind you.
sasuke has to tame him down with his Masters degree in kenshin-wrangling.
at banquets, kenshin would often have you beside him. if you’re too young for sake do age for drinking exist in sengoku? probably not. it’s more of sasuke advising for him to not give you alcoholic drinks he’ll have you pouring for him or just munching away at pickled plums or food.
—shingen:
(ngl i kinda had a hard time with this since it’s erasing a big part of his overall character,,, flirting)
once he heard the news that oda had taken in somone as young as you during honno-ji,, ,,,he’s in a very “how dare that demon >>:( taking such a pure soul,....”
and when you’re taken to kasugayama as a captive, you’re,,, surprisingly very calm and whelmed. you don’t have much sign of fear or anxiety in your overall demeanor meanwhile you’re busy dissociating and spacing out to feel those
you actually don’t seem to hate your captor. but shingen isn’t sure if your ‘fingerguns’ is a good thing or not cause it depicts you pointing guns @ him,, (dw is good shingen)
while yes being held hostage—no matter how good you’re being treated—isn’t ideal and kinda not very cash money, you consider shingen v chill. man has a kindheart!! “i diagnose you with good vibes.”
if he ever sees your righteous side, as everyone else, he’ll deeply admire you. he himself is someone who believes in such as well. and hearing the circumstances in the modern world regarding those things (blm, etc.) his heart truly does go out for you. he feels sympathy for such a young person like you having to take action
also your dirty humor around him, echigo’s player, kind of makes him question where and how you learnt it
and,, his illness.
through getting straight to the point and not falling for it each time he changes subject/dodges the question, you managed to get to the bottom of his illness. shingen himself thinks it’s not something you have to burden with knowing—you’re so, so young.
but that doesn’t matter to you. the world’s given you such a shit time, you’re mature enough to understand the situation at least.
and as he finishes his explanation, all there was is silence. it felt wrong to say any of your usual quips,, so all you did was slowly came there and hugged him.
that was more than what he’d ask for.
—sasuke:
oh hell yeah
you are in your element with him. the chillest guy to talk to, and probably the first one you’re the closest to
your phone was dead after like 2 days of use, and you were miserable while hideyoshi, like a typical parent, told you to go outside and into town. sensing your bad mood, sasuke asked what’s up. you deadpanned, “my phone game ended and now i’m ready to commit not breath.” you oslemnly look out in the bustling streets and clutched your fist like an Anime Protagonist, “those boomer memes were right all along... i am absolutely Miserable and Useless(^TM) without it.”
in response, you could’ve sworn he did the Anime Glasses thing as well, “then we at team Moderately Awesome Sengoku Ninja are happy to announce the launch of a DIY phone charger, made with the electricity from a fruit and the main functionality of a solar panel. and has more durability than samsung’s.”
there were Stars in your eyes now. with a big grin, you thank him, “i’d die for you, sasuke.”
“then perish.” he said with a blank look. (yukimura, in the bg: ???!!!??!??!?)
the next day he consentually breaks in through the ceiling and gives you the weird contraption. you’re now saved, soul-wise.
the memes start coming and they don’t stop coming from the two of you. in any situation. whether it’d be at a teahouse, or at a battlefield that can determine your life and death.
and you can have discussions about current world events, or the past ones, with him and he’d understand completely what you’re talking about. it’s those rare nights when you’ve been thinking and have a deep conversation with him in his room, and as an adult, it makes for interesting results as well.
the others are endlessly confused, but you’re both so unapologetically yourselves.
and he’s super protective if the circumstances are tough. he feels bad for dragging another person in the sengoku with him—much less when they’re so young like you.
if you’re enough of a lil shit, once you’re taken into kasugayama, in the nights where you can’t sleep because brain at what would be 3 am, you’d probably trudge over to his room and wake him up to tell him what kind of mind-blowing shit you realized.
—yukimura:
when he saved you from falling to your death, your reaction already set off weird Vibes inside him. what do you mean, “you stopped me from fleeing this fleeting world by the sweet embrace of death” ?!?!?! are you crazy?? yes
he doesn’t waste time getting blunt with you at all either.
once he goes into azuchi as a merchant, he silently observes you talking to sasuke for a bit. what’s with your weird language?? and crude humor???? never in his life has he met someone in your age act like that wtf
even so, he still operates on the basis of ‘‘if sasuke trusts you, i trust you’’, no matter how utterly concerned you make him feel
you have a dirtier mind than him! unsurprisingly. along with everyone else, you often tease the poor soul, a nd you’d gladly tell him what the innuendoes mean ( 69, etc.) and maybe sprinkle in some gay jokes in there
and why do you keep mentioning this “bromance between him and sasuke” ?? what us,,, a bromance????? and why is sasuke in it??
he takes you out to teahouses to eat chestnut dumplings and other desserts with you. you always seem to target the one he doesn’t like the most and have a bit of banter
your relationship is built on banter but what’s different rlly
he treats you much more maturely than other people your age. as in, he doesn’t pull back his punches in words most of the time. you don’t seem to around him also, it looks like.
and, he’s also very protective of you. he regards you as his little sibling, as rat as you may be. and he does care about you—he might just be a bit unwilling to say it
—yoshimoto:
you think he’s very chill, if a bit unique but who were you to judge. and he is, if you ever meet him in echigo or even azuchi
his big liking to art and something of apathy to people is osmething you can respect. there’s something about that kind of Vibe that you find oddly a mood.
and oh boy oh boy you wasted no time pulling up your phone and showing images of what art is in the future. whether it’d be a screenshot of anime, fanart, aesthetic-like ones, palette-themed—the whole shabang.
and, somehow, you were left ranting to him about how some artists in the future get it so shitty for theft, reposting, not crediting, the list goes on (please be a decent human being to artist, sincerely the author) and he can’t help but just listen in silence and kind of thinking about how you’re so passionate about the Struggles of artists. and it isn’t something he sees often in the sengoku era—where war rules most things.
and he does find art from the modern times interesting, how they’re so different and vast in styles. and not only that, it’s not like the future only has one major style like then, each hand can draw such different pictures and still have beauty in each. he appreciates and admires that.
and he does tell you his thoughts ^ while you give your own insight. it’s so fascinating to see someone like you having strong opinions on this.
because, well, rn art is a big thing in our lives as we’re stuck inside. a part of entertainment is looking at any media of art—and he finds his view of art and yours quite the same. you two came from a time of turmoil (one moreso than the other) but still think art isn’t exactly irrelevant just because it isn’t a cure to diseases or the Ultimate Weapon.
you had to Surgically Remove him from your phone so you can use it and to stop him from draining your battery looking at the art
and he often drags you out to town and admire pieces when you’re holing yourself in too much. your comments are always unknown to him, “radical”, “that’s one i can vibe with ngl”, and the list goes on.
and you occasionally call him pretty boy as a compliment rlly
—kennyo:
when you first saw him at honno-ji, and he won’t forget the one (1) line you gave him, all you said to his warning of ooo spooky demons was, “that’s lit fam gtg tho”
and that alone was enough to stun him for a few seconds
honestly you told the others of your meeting with kennyo before they told you it could be kennyo. just a throaway line of “oh yeah there was this dude with a scar across his face.” / “,,, ,....that’s kennyo. he’s really dangerous actually—” / “oh, poggers”
you’re probably kind of half the reason the oda forces found who dun it.
and it was an eye for an eye, kennyo himself found out that you were their child chatelaine, and very close to the others. as per his villain-schedule, he kidnaps you .
he laments about how “such a pure soul such as yours is not to be stained by the demon’s hands”
oh how Wrong he was.
you were the definition of the opposite of pure. and you seemed unfazed, which surprised kennyo but shrugged it off. he was willing to face you screaming and panicking, along with shouldering the sin of doing the deed. but instead, he was met with a raised eyebrow and, “this is unexpected and probably not welcomed but what am i doing here.”
he was stunned for a moment before explaining what he can.
“......... fuck.”
he cringed ever so slightly at your curse. but your attention seems to stray so quickly off of the fact that you were bounded and helpless, to the fact that you have the man doing unspeakable things to civilians and you absolutely don’t approve.
throwing your common sense to maybe be civilized, you went off on a rant of how human rights and how to not be an ass to him. all he could do was just listened, shocked to even cut you off.
when he did, he gave the whole ‘unsaved demon’ shtick, and you weren’t taking that kinda shit. he believed he was truly unsaved—you knew that. but that doesn’t make it okay.
eventually, he left you with a cold end of the conversation.
he admires your spirit in a way—but with what he’s experienced,,, it’s a bit of unreachable for him.
if at any point you saw the soft side of his with animals, you just gaped at him for a split second and whispered, “the gap moe is strong with this one.”
also old man died inside when you said that you’d fight god, along with many things.
all in all, to him, you’re insufferable. but weirdly,, fascinating.
you’ve totally ok boomer’d him once cause he rlly looks old
—motonari:
,,. if your speech to kennyo was bad, he’s going to rant hell.
motonari already knew you were interesting even when his men just spied on you. your behavior, so brash and impulsive, is going to be so fun to have, he thinks.
through some planning to stir up more chaos, he kidnaps you and brings you unto his ship. same as kennyo, you showed no clear sign of surprise, and that’s when he decided you were either used to this in any way, or a fool. both answers, he liked.
you’re kind of really confused on why he’s doing what he’d doing. “i get it, i like to stir up chaos myself but it’s harmless,, most of it—but not until the people are in danger, bitch.”
and by that line, motonari leans towards you with a deadly smirk, “now, i can bite, ‘kay kid? you don’t wanna be in the receiving end... do you?”
“do it, coward.”
and before he could let out even a wheeze of laughter, you continued on on a lecture of, again, not being a dick and letting people live their life in peace. and much less all of this damage, for what? chaos?? yeah you wanted to see the world burn but it wasn’t literally.
however, his patience was running thin. he shuts you up forcefully, and leaves.
even so, after a cooldown period, he still talks to you (,,,, well, that’s kind of a generous term) because, right he was, you were so fun in his eyes.
an interesting observation he made,,, was that you picked up on his big dislike of physical contact. and he’d think with how annoying you were at times, that you’d weaponize it. but you didn’t—in fact, you kept your space (not that you were planning to get close) and respected his boundaries.
he thinks you a bit of peculiar for that decision, some wary, and perhaps naive.
one of the days—the more dangerous ones—he was planning to take you to the oda as bait or something. and you weren’t taking it like that. two days before arrival, a storm racked up. you stood upon the edge of the ship with the rest of the crew watching you like you were a madman.
“the oda won’t want me if i’m dead, would they now?”
motonari stands in his composure, guffawing, “all i need is to make sure they believe you’re alive, kid.”
a smile that showed absolutely no fear and 1000 percent spite spread in your face, “not unless i decimate my own body until all the trail left is my blood. the only one who gets to do that shit to me, is me.”

1x10 rewatch
Ok, let’s get back to Walt Longmire: Disaster Boi of S1 and finish this season off with a...something. Pleading look to the heavens, maybe?
How do I keep forgetting that Lizzie is a thing, even after our decision to find her some nice Smitten Cowboy to be with? Holy hell, but why are you still keeping your dead wife’s ashes in the kitchen? At least you kept Lucian in your fucking truck. In a coffee can. What is with you and breakfast beverages?? We all know you need lots of therapy, but this seems like a kind of niche issue.
“Trust me, you don’t, uh, you don’t want that tea.” Buddy.
Poor Lizzie. She really is so nice. And he’s such a fucking disaster. “You seem weird,” she says, in reaction to him going bug eyed from having to convince her not to drink his dead wife without her realizing that’s what he was doing. Sweetie, you have no idea. And she really does like him.
This is. So. Gloriously awkward. And Lizzie’s there in her bare feet. And all we need is for Branch to show up and we’ll have a full house, and aaaaahahaha, Walt is so trying to freeze time with the power of his brain. Staring off into the Not Here place with his mouth pressed just so... Awwwww, suffer.
I had forgotten that Ferg was the one who actually did the body work on the Bronco! Even did the paint work, because that old truck has never looked so good. I know Omar loaned Walt his truck while the Bronco was “in the shop,” but I like that the writers gave Ferg the skills to do that.
“If anybody... has something they want to say, I suggest you think twice about it.” We don’t need to say anything; we’re too busy laughing at you.
Oof, and then Lizzie hearing Martha’s voice still on the message greeting. She’s really quite a good actress. Lizzie isn’t a terribly subtle character generally, but she gives her these really fine microexpressions that give you occasional glimpses that there is more going on under the surface, and she’s not just an open book. : ( Making me actually like her and feel bad, not just cringe when she comes on. Dang iiiiiiiit.
Ok, that does NOT look like Sharpie. I’m sorry, but that looks like a paint pen or lipstick more than it looks like a Shapie on the dead kid’s forehead. Even if it were one of the jumbo Sharpies, they don’t write like that, they aren’t that colour on skin, and the thickness of the lines are all off. Which is not really relevant, but it buuuuugs meeeee. Pedantic little shit that I am.
Ope, Branch is basically past the angst about Walt not liking him and straight into just giving him nothing but attitude. Which, while I can hardly blame anyone for giving Walt shit, does get old pretty fast.
Walt, you are So Bad at talking to people, even when it’s for the damn job! Yeah, it’s fine to have Ferg fill Vic in, but at least acknowledge that she’s there, damn. Honestly it would have been good for both Vic and Ferg for Walt to tell her to follow Ferg’s lead on this one. He knows the case, the local history, the players, the situation, and probably more about archery than her, and she could stand to take the reminder that working 5 years in big city homicide still doesn’t make her the senior deputy and that she needs to be ok learning from even Ferg. Shit, I keep finding more and more reasons to be annoyed at Walt. Is he even really that good of a sheriff? I’m shaking the ol’ Magic 8 Ball here, and signs point to frickin’ NO. Ugh.
Five HUNDRED dollars says that he didn’t check with Mathias before going on the Rez for official police business again. Jackass.
Can’t really blame Viho for being super bitter. And Ayasha is so sweet. This whole family dynamic is so well done.
Aw, Ferg is so excited about the gum wrapper. “Still minty!” How are you such a sparklebunny? Bless.
Detective Falessssss. His opening line is so great, but uuuuuuuhg, he’s as bad as Walt with his singlemindedness about the case.
“Talk to Ruby. She runs my life.” She runs the department, bucko, and you’d be lost without her! Lost, I say! But you treat her like your personal social secretary, and that’s crap.
In Fales’ dubious defense, you were just super weird about that whole encounter.
Omar! You creepy little lecherous jackass. Why am I still fond of you? It’s really rather galling that I enjoy your character at all, but I doooo. Thank gods he has the beard now; cleanshaven was just wigging me out. “Vickie’s never shot before--” “That is the second-to-last time you will ever call me that.” And I chortle myself to distraction to the point that I have to rewind to catch the lines that I missed. With her horrible plans when she gets drunk (I’m still cringing at that flashback of her with Travis) and her obvious thing for older men, I’m honestly kind of surprised she didn’t end up having a deeply regretted something with Omar at some point. They do have good chemistry in an antagonistic way. And he does so enjoy tugging her pigtails. ...ew. Why is my brain like this?
“A little bit of practice, even a girl can make that shot.” Aaaaaaand we’re back to kick him in the nuts. Not that we ever really left there. Such a butthead.
Boy oh boy, it sure is great the tone that all these shitty rich white people take saying “Indian.”
“That is what a normal person would do in your situation.” Henryyyyyy, I love you so much. Why can’t we spend more time with him in the early seasons? Why are you drinking a Rainier? Nooooo, please have better taste in beer than your boyfriend! You have expensive tastes in bourbon, why can’t you have decent taste in beeeer?
Walt, what is the point of practicing darts when you are FIVE FEET from the board? Seriously, you’re supposed to be like... (a google later) 7 feet 9.25 inches away! That’s... That’s an oddly specific measurement. Wtf. No quickly apparent reason for that specific measure. Resisting the pull of this particular rabbit hole to continue the ep.
Aaaah, that’s right, this is still when Walt thinks that Henry may have killed the guy for him. And BestDad Henry talked to Cady after the blow up about Branch, and he is a wonderful human being. “It’s really none of your concern.” Hoooooow dare you. It is clearly a function of being bffs with that butthead that Henry just smiles (somewhat bitterly) at this instead of tripping him into the bar or shoving his head into the cigarette machine. (Is that a cigarette machine? Wtf is that thing with the yellow lit up portion towards the top? [14:05])
“What a rich inner life you must lead. From time to time, you should consider sharing some of it with the rest of us.” The sass! Swoon. Henry. Marry me.
“I’ve got other problems.” Buddy, you are other problems.
I wonder how many people/places Ruby just has on speed dial so that she can zoom through her list of “Where the hell is Walt now” to get in touch with him.
Aaaaand we’re back to Branch getting a bit big for his britches. Whee. Better fight about it like Big Boys. Ffs. “Go ahead. Give me your best shot.” ::Pat Benatar starts playing in the background:: Oh holy shit, I wish so damn much that I had any know-how about making vids. I would be beyond amused by a spoofy hate vid of Walt and Branch being assholes to “Hit Me With Your Best Shot.” Ooo, oo, or “Hit Me Baby One More Time!” Aaaahahaha, these fucking losers and their fragile masculinity. Get rekt.
Children. Childreeeeen. Stop it, or you can’t go to Timmy’s birthday party next week.
The irony of Vic being the one who is actually calling them on their shit and getting to do their damn jobs. Well shit, they actually have a warrant this time. Will wonders never cease.
Damn, Viho is smart. Politically savy, pointing out the election coming up. He’s got the wrong end of the stick this time, but the fact that he’s seen these angles and considered a bunch of things about the consequences already is telling about how smart he is.
Ruby is so pleased to see Henry. She sounds tired (dealing with Walt and Branch and the sheer volume of bs that is accumulating in that office, no wonder) but still fond. And the look she gives him. I love her so much. She puts up with so much. And I love Henry continually calling Walt and the department on their shit and just being a dedicated activist for his community.
Fuck right off, Branch. “Woah. I know you’re Walt’s friend, Henry, but you don’t have any particular rights here.” You are sliding into being a full on trashbag of a human being so fast, Brancheroo. Reminding a young man of his rights and helping him avoid getting railroaded by your biased ass isn’t a bad thing, you rusty wingnut.
Ok, it might not be Glasses!Henry, but cowboy boots!Henry with the glow of righteousness upon him is also quite A Look.
Aaaaahahaha, for once Vic’s unholy yelling saves the day. Being able to shout over a mass of raucous teens is usually reserved for teachers, camp counselors, and stage managers. Looool and using detention as the threat. And then jail. Heeeh.
This is soooo weeeeeird: I’m starting to genuinely like Lizzie. She just showed up and I remembered that it’s for dropping off that present, and then Vic is such a butt about it, and this poor lady is just trying to date a guy that she really likes and even gave him about 5 different outs that morning and he pointedly didn’t take any of them and dammit, Lizzie deserves better, too. Fuck, Walt, you are such a disaster zone. And Vic is a whole other disaster area that’s looking to, uhhhh, share a border. Yike.
The present is definitely more Lizzie than it is Walt, with the wrapping and everything, but it’s still a sweet impulse. AND THEN VIC, who told Walt how many times that he should call her?? gets all up in her business? Poor Lizzie trying to figure out what the fuck this has to do with Vic or how it is even on the same planet as any of her business. She does have some issues from her previous marriage, but she owns them. And her BS meter is actually pretty finely tuned. Sure picks up on Vic’s awkward boner for Walt in no time flat. Not that it’s particularly well hidden, damn.
This kid is a rapist and a murderer and The Bad Guy, but at the same time, he is a high school kid, chances are he’s a minor, and Walt is talking to him alone in his office without any parent, much less a lawyer. What the fuck.
“Because Ayasha Roundstone told me so,” is a good line, solidly so. And Walt’s all in The Righteous Hand of Justice mode or whatever, with the gravelly voice and standing over the kid, staring him down. Effective. (But where are that kid’s parents?) Ah, that’s right, his dad is taking a shot at whatshisnoodle to make it look like he’s the killer.
Awww, Cady. Honey, how long have you been waiting for you FailDad to show up? Fuck. Right. This was how she found out that Martha was murdered. He lies to her so much. He manipulates her so much. He passes all of this off on it being Martha’s wish, but he even acknowledges that Cady had a right to know and he chose not to tell her. He denies Cady her own agency again and again. He makes decisions for her without ever giving her a chance to choose for herself, and punishes her when she makes a choice that he doesn’t agree with.
It’s not “protecting” her from the pain. “Protecting you from the pain,” is not a father’s job; it’s to teach their child how to manage it, help them live through it, and how to grow past it. You’re damaging her. Into the suuuuuuun, Walt! Into the fucking SUN.
But fuuuuuuuuuuuck, her delivery of that same line, “Well, let me relieve you of that burden,” is sooo good. You done fucked up, buster. And you just keep fucking up. I would say in new and exciting ways, but it’s generally in the SAME DAMN WAYS, dammit Walt.
This flashback is really difficult.
They’re right about that technically being kidnapping, too. Wyoming § 6-2-201 specifically includes defining kidnapping as unlawfully confining another person, with the intent to “facilitate the commission of a felony; or Inflict bodily injury on or to terrorize the victim or another,” with unlawful confinement defined as “accomplished (i) By force, threat or deception; or (ii) Without the consent of a parent, guardian or other person responsible for the general supervision of an individual who is under the age of fourteen (14) or who is adjudicated incompetent.” Meaning that not only could Walt charge Jake with the kidnapping of Rich, but also probably of Ayasha, since she was ruled an unreliable witness and would more than likely be legally considered a “mentally incompetent person” according to the states’ legal definitions.
Not... that I have the Wyoming State Criminal Code downloaded on my computer. >_> Certainly haven’t skimmed about 80% of it trying to figure out what charges would most make sense to be levied against Jacob at the end so that I don’t have to deal with him going in to a Federal prison on RICO charges. <_< Or what Cady probably should have been charged with after that mess with Tate and Catori. Nnnnnnope. Sure don’t, didn’t, haven’t. o_o
This is about the only time I can remember there being a legitimate reason for Walt not to have backup. Since they’re off checking other locations. Also, damn, that was some classic Old West quickdraw shit, Walt! Noice!
“Why did you stop me?” Because you have to testify, you little shit. HE is not terribly bright.
Ooooooo, somehow I forgot that it was Branch who went to Jacob. But that makes total sense; I can’t really see Jacob seeking Branch out, but once he walks himself into his office, Jacob will certainly play those new cards for all they’re worth. Ooooooooo, and the Hotamétaneo’o headdress! I’d forgotten about Branch seeing it, too! Nice call back and foreshadowing to finish off S1!
“You will not find a chili cheeseburger of this caliber anywhere in Colorado.” And now it’s 4:30 in the morning and I want a chili cheeseburger. Thanks, babe. Some daaaaaay, I will figure out which is my favourite Henry, but it is not this day, because godsdaaaaamn, the red checked shirt with that vessssst, is *chef kiss* a wonderful thing. And the director knoooooows it = that pan down Henry’s back as he turns after saying, “I said nothing,” for noooo reason other than to have Henry’s ass on screen. Seriously. He says his line, it pans down, we get a primo shot of his jeans, and then it cuts away. Solely a pan for Henry Butt. Who directed this, and where do I send the fruit basket? Dang, it was Nelson McCormick, and this was the only ep of Longmire he directed. Huh. In S1, there’s only one repeat director, who did eps 1, 3, and 7. Interesting.
Focus, kid. You are less than 3 minutes from the end and you’ve had it paused for over 5 minutes to wander around IMDb. No wonder it takes you three flipping hours to watch one of these episodes. What a mess, indeed.
“We all process grief in our own way.” Buddy. You have not processed. You are a human <BUFFERING> screen. You’re a walking loading symbol. Walt, he gives you some basic vital statistics on the guy, but... You haven’t even asked who it was. Walt, you are so bad at this. Fffffffff--- And there’s season 1. lawd.

Subarashiki Hibi (Wonderful Everyday Down the Rabbit-Hole) Part 3 - Looking-glass Insects
Would referencing Alice in the looking-glass be talking about something like grass always looking greener on the other side? Alice thought the world of mirrors was a wonderful place even though it just reversed her normal reality and was basically her world, yet she found it fun, so really, would it mean to say that as long as we look at our own world from a different perspective, it’ll be just as wonderful? Or would it be just as the narrator/Zakuro says, that in the end a bored face here will only reflect the same bored face on the mirror? Yay, this one is from Zakuro’s perspective, I’ve always wanted a better look on what she’s thinking so I guess this chapter will be interesting! I love the immediate outside perspective of Zakuro’s that shows and tells us that Takuji used to be bullied, but now everyone is scared of him. Really goes to show that Tomosane and Yuki are probably just different versions of one entity or something? When Takuji said he doesn’t get new glasses because he doesn’t really want to see anyway, I couldn’t help but feel a bit like Zakuro and feel for him; feel for the fact that he’s seen so many unpleasant things in life that he’d rather just give up on looking at them if he could. It’s such a saddening thing to think about though… I think it was so innocent of Zakuro to think and pray that everyone and Takuji would be happy when he was talking about melting a happy couple’s face with sulfuric acid LOL, I guess it’s nice that it didn’t scare her at all, she’s so resilient, but I guess it’s because she can see through Takuji’s exterior. I actually think it’s really nice to see that Zakuro really did notice Takuji, and was interested in him as a person. It was cute when she stared at him moving books to the old pool wondering what he was doing, she completely forgot about class lol.
I guess you can kinda finally see why Zakuro abruptly left the secret base in the beginning. Since it was different from her everyday, she viewed her going into the hideout as something similar to Alice dropping into Wonderland with the well and thought it would be just as interesting and fun, but really, it was just another place added to her mundane life. The Mamiya reading a book….is Yuki isn’t it? I wonder how the Yuki/Tomosane/Takuji thing works though, does that mean every time we think we’re seeing Yuki or Tomosane, it was actually just Takuji all along and Yuki and Tomosane is just what Takuji himself views those personas of his? So all along Takuji is really the only person that’s “real”, and I guess that means he lives next to the Wakatsuki sisters and is their childhood friend, and they know about his different personalities? Hmmmm if Hasaki (Takuji’s little sister) is real (since Zakuro sees her as who she is), then why do they refer to Tomosane as their brother? Oh wait, I forgot! The Wakatsuki sisters probably don’t exist either! Yasuko and the others didn’t know who they were in the previous chapter! So then Hasaki is the Wakatsuki sisters combined? Since the doll she’s holding is what Kagami supposedly turned into when Yuki carried her “corpse” back to her. I think it was quite normal and expected that Zakuro would fall for the Takuji on the rooftop aka Yuki, I guess that’s why Zakuro was so smitten with Yuki. And I guess it’s kinda funny to remember how all that time, Yuki insisted that she was a girl but she really isn’t lol.
Zakuro is such a cute lovesick girl when it comes to Takuji lol. But I can relate, especially when she held off on going to buy a CD just to continue riding the train with him. I remember the feeling of putting aside things just to hang with the person I like haha. She’s so bold though! Taking him to the amusement park on a whim! Honestly, when it was the Yuki perspective, I just thought of Zakuro as this weird girl wanting to hang with her all the time for some reason, but now I totally get it, her life literally sparkles when she’s with him/her. It was so cuteee when she made that extravagant lunchbox for him lol! She’s full doing her best at getting closer to him lol. Honestly though, it feels so weird to see things in Zakuro’s perspective, it feels like a whole different story haha. I always felt Yuki was cool but seeing things from Zakuro’s perspective just makes Yuki/Takuji shine lol!
Kimika Ending Oh? So Kimika and Zakuro had known each other since elementary school? And then Zakuro changed schools and lost contact until now… Oh...Kimika told Zakuro from the beginning…. That she shouldn’t associate with her or she will get bullied. She even told her that if Zakuro were to be bullied, she would feel so much guilt, she would just die. I guess, just as Kimika could never forgive herself for bringing Zakuro into this, Zakuro probably can’t forgive herself for causing more harm than good to Kimika, since now she has to protect Zakuro from them as well, so now she’s getting more hurt than before. I knew Kimika wasn’t as bad as she thought she was, but really, seeing everything from Zakuro’s perspective, Kimika really tried her best to protect Zakuro in her own way all the time. She knew that she couldn’t go against Megu and Satoko, so she always acted mean towards Zakuro to make sure that they wouldn’t suspect the two of them of doing anything against them. She was cold but that was how she protected her. I can also see why Kimika loved Zakuro so much, yet hated her so much, because I kinda feel the same lol. Zakuro is so kind (and clueless or maybe more optimistic) that it’s cruel. She doesn’t realise how much all this is hurting Kimika. Like sure, the bullying is sorta bearable right now etc, but she doesn’t plan or think about how to change things, she just goes with the flow, which is admirable in itself, but it’s because she’s like that, it puts all the burden on Kimika to actually do something to save them from this situation. Also now, Kimika has to be super desperate about it because Zakuro is getting hurt too, whereas before, if it was just herself, she could just deal with it, but she can’t just do that when someone she cares about is getting hurt because of her.
Omggg, to think all this bullying started because Shiroyama (Megu’s boyfriend) called Kimika cute, and then later on called Zakuro cute too, so Megu got jealous and annoyed! Shiroyama running lives all around, first it’s Takuji and now Kimika and Zakuro too zzz. I nearly cried when Kimika told Zakuro to go and be happy (since she’s been smiling a lot after hanging out with Takuji) and never come back to her and never attract the attention of Megu and Satoko again. Kimika has always been prepared to shoulder all this and be the only victim, she honestly didn’t deserve that saddening ending in the previous chapter…
I’m glad Zakuro made the decision to act weird and defy Megu and Satoko by running off with Kimika when they wanted to record her underwear etc to sell. I guess that’s why for Kimika and me, we really just can’t hate Zakuro lol. She’s really cool to want to be in this together than to have Kimika sacrificed, but at the same time, she really doesn’t think of the consequences huh? But, with Kimika watching out for her, it’ll be okay, I can’t believe Kimika really brought a stun gun to retaliate against them though loll, it was so nice to see Megu and Satoko shocked as to what do and how to go about all this. Kimika really got them this time haha. It’s kinda weird to be happy about this, but Kimika is, so I guess it’s good that Kimika spent years thinking about what she could do in retaliation, but never really did until Zakuro got bullied. I think she’s right though, when you’re experiencing it yourself for so long, you become numb to it and either think you deserve it and that you shouldn’t bother doing anything, or you break, or you become like Zakuro and fight back in an all in battle. Seeing Zakuro treated like that made Kimika realise that she couldn’t leave them to do what they wanted to any longer and I’m happy for that, even if Kimika is a dangerous person, she’s someone who does everything for the people she cares about.
Wow, no wonder why Kimika hates everyone and the teachers in this school so much, they literally can’t be bothered to deal with bullying even when it’s practically shown in front of their face that there’s something going on. I can see why she killed Senagawa in the previous chapter though, Kimika literally told her about the bullying, so Senagawa went to ask Megu and Satoko about it, and just took it for face value that since they said they’re not bullying her, then they’re not, like wtf? I know you’re busy with other crap but do you remember that you’re a teacher??? Honestly so shocked at how these teachers behave tbh, it’s so disheartening to hear and think about. Kimika was so cool when she threw her nattou trap and stuff at Shiroyama and them to get away loll. But it was so hilarious and cute when she faced off against Takuji/Tomosane, lmaoo when he kept implying she was flat in different ways lolll. He even took her knife loll, so mean, but to be fair, Kimika is pretty dangerous with it LOL, she was literally swinging it at him lol. But yeah considering his words and lack of memories of Zakuro, it’s fair to say that Tomosane is probably the only one that’s aware of the different personalities. Lmaooo when she had an airgun too hahahha, how many weapons does Kimika have?! I love her. It was so funny when she was annoyed that her chest was flat compared to Zakuro’s.
I have to say, I honestly love Takuji/Tomosane’s teasing relationship with Kimika so much more than Yuki with Kagami. It’s so much more hilarious because just as Tomosane gets on her nerves, she also gets on his nerves by doing stuff like putting explosives in cigarettes and offering it to him LOL, he should have known she wouldn’t be that nice though hahaha. It’s also really cute how Hasaki makes him a boxed lunch but he pretends to be cool and doesn’t want to eat it in front of others lolll, he’s so cute. I honestly thought Tomosane was just a violent persona that came out to protect the Takuji body but I guess he’s the most entertaining one haha. Can’t believe Megu and Satoko brought so many thugs (I assume) to help corner Kimika and Zakuro, they’re so dirty. I’ve been waiting for Takuji to appear!! Yayy~ he was so cool when he called Kimika and Zakuro his women and said not to touch them🥺 I am legit smitten with Tomosane. Honestly, Yuki is cool and everything but she never appealed to me that much, on the other hand, this chapter with Tomosane is like my favourite right now. I really love how Kimika acts so tough though, she’s obviously the one with the lowest stamina and weak reflexes, but because she wants to protect Zakuro, she tries her best to fight in her own way and sacrifice herself at the drop of a bat if needed.
Well, the fight went as expected, but I still wonder why Tomosane and Takuji have to be killed/disappear to leave Yuki as the “only” Takuji? It’s saddening to see Kimika kinda down over the fact that she couldn’t protect Zakuro and that Zakuro is so interested in him compared to her. I find Zakuro kinda funny though, she’s so persistent about interacting with Tomosane even though he’s not interested. Cyrano de Bergerac sounds like such a sad story. Both Cyrano and Christian loved Roxanne but one lacked the looks and the other lacked the intelligence to attract her, so they pretended to be one person and so Roxanne fell in love with Christian, the one who possessed the looks and was able to “borrow” Cyrano’s immaterial intelligence that Roxanne couldn’t really fall in love with since it has no “shape”. In the end, he played the fool until the end even when she realised it was actually Cyrano. It’s kinda interesting for Tomosane to give the reason that just as Cyrano never wanted Roxanne to realise the one behind the letters was him, Tomosane doesn’t want to reveal his real name to Zakuro either. I find it so cute how he has such a soft spot for Zakuro. I’m glad she was able to tell him she liked talking to him before he disappeared forever. Tomosane always says that Yuki is the kindest one of them all, but really, I think Tomosane is really kind in his own way, so it’s sad that he’s gone🥺 It’s kinda interesting to think about if the Holy Trinity of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit kinda motivated the creation of Yuki, Tomosane and Takuji. Since even God needs three forms to do his work, so they would need the three of them to achieve whatever their purpose is huh~
Although it’s nice to see this result of Zakuro and Kimika not being bullied anymore, and even getting popular alongside Takuji etc, it’s a bit saddening to think about what could have happened in the background for this to occur. So crazy to see how bold Zakuro became with Kimika haha, but it was refreshing even though a bit random with the transition. So, I wonder if the worlds just keep reincarnating the same souls in the same world over and over again with different endings depending on their choices, and this time around, Zakuro was able to achieve her wonderful everyday by changing Yuuki’s decision? Why does everything have to keep repeating though? Do we all just want a wonderful everyday? Anyway, overall, I really enjoyed this chapter and ending, so much better than the others imo because I liked all three of the characters. I really liked how Zakuro grew as a person, she didn’t necessarily change, she just got the courage to do what she wanted that she was always hesitant in doing. And that was achieved through Kimika doing her best to protect her even though she was weak, and through the Takuji who was strong and was able to provide her with an opportunity to live life the way she wanted. It was really nice to see all that unfold, and to see my favourite side of Takuji hahaha. It was really nice to see some questions answered this time around, so that was fun. I think the only random thing imo was Kimika and Zakuro getting together because I always felt like they were true friends more than romantic partners, but this is fine too I guess haha.
Insects Ending I see…so for this ending, Zakuro doesn’t run away with Kimika and instead she was forced to masturbate in front of their camera inside the restaurant… But I see, Kimika was already ready to fight them at this time, she already had her steel baton with her. Omggg, Zakuro is so dumb, she should have at least screamed for help when Kimika was getting beaten or when she was taken away by Megu and Satoko, like, do you really think they’ll let Kimika go easily after attacking them?? I’m not shocked at what happened when they got the drugs into her, but I’m glad no one raped her…. Except, now that something has happened to Kimika, what’s going to happen to Zakuro? I don’t even know why Zakuro bothered to go back to class when they stole her underwear and stuff, she should have at least put on her swimsuit under her uniform… But anyway, we shouldn’t blame the victim because Megu and Satoko are utterly disgusting to force her to expose herself in front of the class and blackmail her with the video. Doesn’t help that no one in the class even feels sorry for her, in fact the other girls think it’s funny too, it’s just disgusting. I can see why Zakuro would just break with all that happening, her one and only ally was gone, and even the people in the class are joining in on the bullying like it’s so fun. Honestly though, seeing everything that’s happening, I feel like Satoko and Megu got off too easily in the previous chapter, they definitely deserved a worst death, it makes me so angry to see how they can torment someone so much like this and still expect others to forgive them. Okay, I got a bit ahead of myself, they really did end up gang raping her and that was the worst thing to witness especially since they gave her drugs to numb her to the pain and everything. I feel so bad for her though, she was tormented before but at least she felt that if she was still a virgin, Takuji would still like her (since she saw the scribbles on the wall in the underground hideout about how he likes virgins or whatever), but now she’s utterly broken in body and her spirit, how could she possibly pick herself up now… I don’t even care if it’s implied that Megu got gang raped before and that’s probably why she does this to others as well, it’s just disgusting.
I’m honestly not sure what to think of Ayumi and Usami because they honestly feel like traumatised people gathering another traumatised person (Zakuro) and bringing her into their delusions. So, I really can’t believe that they really tried to save the world in their previous lives and then force reincarnated themselves to try again, and that everything bad that happened to them was the evil side doing their work. It’s kinda saddening to see what Zakuro experienced and felt when she saw Takuji/Yuki right before she did the Spiral Matai (near death experience for them to get their powers back) aka the suicide. She had to go through so many terrible things and he was one of the things that kept her going, saving the world for him was a part of her mind… It’s just so saddening… It was nice to see the kiss from her perspective though, it was rather tender and sweet even though Yuki was confused lol. I’m honestly surprised that Usami was the one getting scared and didn’t want to jump since she thinks they might die instead of regaining their powers from the “near death experience”. For Zakuro though, she had already prepared herself and there was nothing left for her to really care about besides wanting to save the world for Takuji especially when she’s “seeing” all this destruction in her mind. Although I do find it rather amusing that they’re the ones who dragged Zakuro into this and yet they’re the ones most scared. In the end, did Ayumi and Usami just want someone to commit suicide with them as Yuki said in the previous chapter? I guess it does seem like it even though they kinda changed their minds lol. I’m not sure how I should feel for Zakuro though. Would she have been saved somehow if she never met them? Or would she just keep getting tormented by Megu and Satoko? Or would she have gone insane and killed them? Either way, it’s a saddening ending, a saddening story that should never happen to anybody and yet it does. It breaks my heart to think about everything she had to experience, especially when one decision could have changed it all into a happy ending instead. It’s saddening to think of it like that.
Overall, I really enjoyed the Looking-glass chapter and I loved seeing an alternate ending for Zakuro, a girl who always just viewed herself as a worm. It’s saddening to see what happened for her, but I can really see how Kimika had to get revenge for Zakuro no matter what. Otherwise, as I said before, seeing Tomosane was awesome and definitely the highlight of this chapter tbh haha. But I really do have to say that the rape and that dog thing with Ayumi were very uncomfortable to read. Maybe it’s because I’m a girl as well so the thought of it really made me sick to the stomach, I guess it affected me so much only because I kept thinking about it though lol. But yeah, it honestly hurt to see Zakuro so broken tbh and I honestly had to skip through the voice acting because it was tormenting to hear. But I guess the fact that it felt so uncomfortable proves how well the effect of everything was done?

2x14 The Fair Folk
Warning: This review contains spoilers
1. ALEC
Omg! That’s my boy! I’m so, so proud of him! He really fits in the role of The Head of the Institute! It was made for him! Like Jace said an episode earlier Alec is a leader (and I will cut Lindsey and Duncan for dobuting him). Also he’s a great politic. He convinced Luke, talked with the representative of Downwolders with respect and he’s listening to them... Oh God! Clave look at him and take notes!
2. SIMON
Oh nooo! My baby boy! He needs t be protected by all costs! I hate to see him sad and heartbroken... geez, I KNEW it was coming but... it still hurts! Give me Sizzy already... Besides as @larlarinlalaland pointed out it could be a really great arch that Simon could start to doubt his trust in Shadowhunters... Like The Seelie Queen said, they can’t be trusted...
3. JACE
OMG I fell in love with his piano skills! God, Dom is SO good! *.* Besides this... Jace is really good diplomat, I’m shocked! I can’t believe that all of this went almost so smoothly! And yet now he is heartbroken and confused... He doesn’t deserve it as well as Simon... Geez how I hate love triangle tropes but well... At least it slowly ends...
4. CLARY
Geez girl...Okay, I know it’s not really her fault but... Ughhh... How mad I am... Seriously, get a grip girl! But I must admit I felt bad for her at the end... It touched her too, so maybe I reconsider to forgive her...
5. THE LIGHTWOODS (but mostly MARYSE)
O.M.G.!! I’m so, so happy to see Alec, Izzy and Maryse bonding! ! Oh God Maryse’s talk with Izzy made me cry so, so much! And she fianlly, FINALLY accepted Alec! How I’m glad that she’d grown so much! And her talk with Alec was also super cute! *.* I’m really starting to like her, I haven’t thought that she could have changed so much... Started from the bottom now we’re here...
7. Luke
I’m so happy that they’re keep adressing him as a leader of the pack! His talks with Alec and on the Downwolders / Clave meeting were on point! That’s what I want for him! And yeah, I know, that he acted wrong attacking Valentine but... hey... If I were him I would do the same... At least he knows that he did a wrong thing and was willing to accept the consequences...
8. Sebastian
Yesss! He’s showing a part of his “dark side”! I wanted to see it so, so badly! I hope that his charachter trope won’t be so screwed up like in the books, please... Besides... WTF, stop shipping people XD I swear Sebastian is an ultimate fangirl shipping Clace and Sizzy... By the way.. Will can plays on piano so, so good *.*
9. Magnus
My beautiful poor man! Ugh, you can see that he’s still recovering... And I hate to see him struggle like that. I just want him to be happy... But I must say, it was really brave of him to tell the others what happend... Though... Ugh... *buries face in hands* (Also that look at Raphael XD It screamed “can you not” XD)
10. Malec
Well hello Mr. Bane ans Mr. Lightwood I’m Mrs. Laughing Her Ass Off XD I just couldn’t keep sraight face during this XD And neither could they! Lol that was only a goddamn hand shake! XD And even though there wasn’t really much malec there i’m satisfied... Alec’s concerned look when Luke snapped at Magnus... My poor heart... And that phone call.. Magnus, sweetie, you did nothing wrong don’t even think like that! :( (And Alec called him his boyfriend
11. Izzy
Was I the only one that when she had her scene with Sebastian I was like YESSS BEAT HIS ASS UP, GIRL!? I’m happy that she really starts to look and act okay. Her talk with Maryse was so, so important... Geeez... Really the Lightwoods in this episode goals... But I have one but... What kind of love figure (beceuase I just don’t kno what kind of figure we have there XD) is happening around her? XD
12. Raphael
Ok, I don’t like Rizzy BUT... Those scenes between him, Izzy and Sebastian... Ouch... Damnit I feel bad for him (then again who I wouldn’t pity in this episode? XD)... He let Seabstian convince him... And it really looks like Izzy cares for him! Maybe Rizzy as BROtp wouldn’t be so bad? But boy... Don’t mess with your dad XD
12. The Seelie Queen
Okay let’s get this straight. I LOVE her outfit! And i don’t mind that she looks like.... 7 or so. I love those tropes with powerful women’s looking like little girls (PJ fandom: Artemis anyone? XD). And I want to see MORE of her! She seems to be a really interesting charachter and it would be a shame to just left her like this... :/
13. Meliorn
I can’t lie... he’s a sass king XD “Every Shadowhunter look the same for me” XD “Exept for Izzy”. This killed me XH
14. Ollie
Okay, girl, what is your problem? Why are you stalking Luke? You’re a cop, don’t you know that stalking is consider as a crime?
15. OVER ALL
I really liked this episode. It wrecked me in so many ways but also made me laugh so much XD It had a really nice flow, had some book tropes, that fixed some of things that CC screwed... After all I’m gonna give this episode 4,5/6, because it wasn’t perfect but nice and I enjoyed watching this... So bye, I’m gonna cry in a two weeks XD <3
P.S. Yes, I know that I haven’t include Clace but... Ugh... i don’t know how am I supposed to feel about them so...

Captain America: Civil War live watch commentary
I watched Captain America: Civil War, and this is my super long commentary, began halfway through the movie and ending with my conclusions after I finished it. It took my like 3.5 hours to watch this dumb movie because I kept stopping it, rewinding (Jeremy Renner can’t speak, I swear, several of his lines I could not understand at all), and occasionally yelling at my TV, in addition to typing up bits of commentary.
My commentary began at the moment with Vision and Clint join Steve, Sam, and Bucky, and Scott Lang is hauled out of a car with no explanation for how he got here or why he’s joining Team Cap. Then I add blank lines every time I skip ahead in my viewing. So... my extensive thoughts are below.
Halfway through this movie--which is trying to do way too many things at once, making it seem bloated, crowded, and disjointed at times, with weird moments where the pace just drags because too much is going on and I don’t know why it matters or which parts matter the most--and Steve just pissed me off. At this point, Tony is only trying to capture and "bring in" Steve, Sam, and Bucky in order to prevent the government from killing them. Presumably, once Tony brings them in, he is hoping he can sort out the fallout to keep everyone alive and as free as possible but he is really trying to capture Steve to protect him from government agents who are likely to shoot first and ask questions never. Meanwhile, Steve is dragging everyone down his rabbit hole (and none of these other characters--Sam, Sharon, Wanda, Clint, and Ant-man--have any clear motives other than "help Captain America" because the writing here is really shitty). Steve is willing to ruin all of these people's lives for the sake of his own stubbornness, his own integrity (in refusing to give up his "right to choose"), and his desire to protect Bucky. Now, don't get me wrong, I totally feel for Bucky and want to protect him too. But the right call is to give themselves up to Tony and work together to find a solution, not risk ruining all of these other people's lives or getting all of your sidekicks killed. Especially since, as far as I can tell, Steve has no long-term plan beyond "evade capture." So what exactly is he gonna do here?
And I really hate that Steve, Mr. "We'll do it together and if necessary we'll lose together" from Age of Ultron, has become such a selfish loner here (well, loner except for Sam and Bucky). Yes, I said selfish. He doesn't care about Scott Lang, who he just met, or any of his back-up "troops." He didn't care if his actions had negative consequences for Tony or Natasha either, which they clearly did (they may have signed the accords, but Steve going rogue puts them under greater scrutiny. The government will tighten their leash on the remaining Avengers and that is entirely Steve's fault). Steve puts his integrity above all else, which seems noble except that it hurts everyone around him. But the only person he seems to care about is Bucky.
His initial decision not to sign the accords came at Peggy's funeral too, which shows this is a decision made out of grief and in a moment of emotion, not out of rational thought and good judgment.
Like, man, Steve, I like you a lot, but you need to stop and grieve (I think it’s significant that earlier we saw Tony admit to not handling his grief over his parents. That was a clue that “how we handle, or avoid handling, grief” is a theme in this movie), and then once you’ve grieved a bit, stop and think. And for once, stop being so naive and look at the world as it is, not as you wish it to be. Your idealism is wonderful, but your unwillingness to face reality and compromise where you can (as Peggy told Sharon) is dangerous. I really do think the accords are a case where you can compromise, and Bucky's life is a case where you can't. And if you had compromised on the first issue, then you would be in a position of strength to be able to stand up on the second issue without compromising.
----
Oh, wait, Steve's plan is to stop the other winter soldiers?! Damn this movie is trying to do too many things at once and the writers suck at making it easy to keep track of all the things the movie thinks it's doing. Plus sucking at establishing character goals and motives. But okay, so Steve's plan is less selfish. It's "protect Bucky" and save the world from winter soldiers. Except, again, turning yourselves in to Tony and explaining everything right now would be a better way to do that. Because, again, figuring it out together makes more sense.
And none of these other characters seem to care about "saving the world." It's all "Captain America is the best and we will do whatever he says." Lame character development for everyone.
----
Tony: "I'm trying to keep you from tearing the Avengers apart!"
God, Tony is in so much pain here! He's lost Pepper and now he's losing all he has left. He's trying to protect them all and keep them safe and together in an imperfect world. And Cap is being an idiot.
Steve: "You did that when you signed."
Cap, you jackass. Signing the accords didn't have to tear the Avengers apart. As Nat said, and as Tony later reiterated, if you had stuck together you could have shaped the accords and changed them to make them workable. And even if you feel like Tony signing was a betrayal (which is pretty sketchy), Tony didn't start this mess. He made the choice to sign when backed into a corner. You all had to make a choice and you were all backed in to a corner. But you're the man who was advocating the "right to choose" so It's hypocritical to condemn someone for choosing.
Also, I miss Age of Ultron’s "we do it together” Steve. Here, Steve is a vigilante in exactly the same way Tony was when he went off to create Ultron on his own when he knew the others wouldn't approve. Except in that case, Steve condemned Tony's reckless vigilantism, but here it's okay because it's Steve's decision and the vigilantism is to try to protect Bucky when no one else would approve. Steve really does come off like a hypocrite in this movie
---
WTF?! When you start throwing multiple cars at your former teammate, you lose all moral high ground. That could *kill* Tony, but clearly Wanda does not care. And this comes moments after Rhodey points out that he is trying not to hurt Cap. Clearly one side in this battle cares more about incapacitating without permanent harm than the other. Also, I'm back to hating Wanda because she is a spoiled little girl (her "you put me in my room" comment is an exaggeration and also...she has killed civilians in every movie she's been in! Lagos was basically here fault. She does not get the moral high ground ever. I'm more willing to give Bucky the benefit of the doubt than Wanda at this point, and if I’m going to say that one of them is a dangerous criminal...yeah, I think I’ll go with Wanda being the one who should be in prison).
Side note, though: Tom Holland's Peter Parker is an absolute delight in this trainwreck of a movie.
Also, RDJ was acting his heart out in his convo with Cap.
---
Steve, how did you know that dropping that giant plane boarding ramp on Peter wouldn't kill him? That was a dick move. Good thing Spiderling is super strong.
---
Tony (while ant man is running around in his suit and mocking Tony): “who’s speaking?”
Scott Lang: “It's your conscience. We don't talk a lot these days.”
F*ck You, you dumb-ass ant-dude! And f*ck you, marvel and writers for that fucking awful betrayal of Tony Stark's character. That joke proves that these awful writers don't know the first thing about Tony, who has been doing nothing but listening to his conscience and trying to make amends for the pain he's caused for the past 6 movies. So seriously, fuck you, marvel, and you just made me hate ant-man in my first five minutes of knowing him.
Marvel sucks at making jokes that are inappropriate for the tone of the film or trying to “lighten up” serious moments with bad humor that comes across wrong. But this makes some of the insensitive jokes in Thor Raganrok look like high class humor.
---
Clint: “I don’t think we’ve been introduced. I'm Clint.”
T'Challa: “I don't care.”
Lol. Me neither, T'Challa. That line is pretty much me through big parts of this movie. Also, that is pretty much my entire reaction to Clint Barton in every Avengers movie.
---
Tony when he sees Peter go down.. omg, he cares more about Peter than Steve does about any of his previous teammates. RDJ looked utterly stricken and panicked. His “you’re done, kid,” is clearly out of concern and fear. He never wanted to drag anyone else into this. Steve is ruining lives here, and he hasn’t shown much concern for that. But Tony is utterly devastated when, for a moment, he thinks he’s gotten this poor kid injured or killed. And there’s no way he’s putting Peter more at risk than he has to.
---
Sam's "that's a first" when Tony admits he was wrong is awful. I mean, Sam doesn't know Tony well, so it's understandable that he would think that way. But Tony never hesitates to admit he made a mistake. That's one of the most admirable things about him.
Also, if we hadn't spent most of this movie chasing after Steve as he runs off the reservation, we would have had time to investigate and find out that Bucky was framed earlier. It turns out, it only took Tony a few minutes of investigating, so if he hadn’t been so busy trying to put out Cap’s fires and apprehend Cap to ensure he doesn’t get hurt/killed, then Tony could have figured out Bucky’s innocence earlier! Then this whole mess wouldn’t have happened. Steve could have told Tony what he knew after he turned himself in. Then Tony, being Tony, would investigate (because he’s never one to leave things alone and he loves breaking into SHIELD/government intelligence databases to find more intel). And then the team could have worked together to figure out what to do about the other super soldiers and how to protect Bucky. See how much smarter that would have been, Steve!
---
So Zemo killed the other winter soldiers. So Steve's mission was totally pointless then. Good to know. *rolls eyes*
This whole plot is much ado about nothing. The plot is basically a series of stupid actions designed solely to tear the Avengers apart by making them all act as stupid as possible (edit: well, I guess that is Zemo’s goal. It almost feels like an attempt to lampshade bad writing, though, like the writers realized how all of these events didn’t make any sense except as the writers’ attempt to tear the Avengers apart, so they invented a villain to act as a stand in for themselves. Basically, I’m saying that Zemo is the writers/the Russo brothers).
---
Steve does betray his own values and integrity. He was all about the team and doing everything together. And he betrayed that and destroyed the team. He believed that teammates shouldn't keep secrets, but he kept secrets from Tony. Steve betrayed his own values and that is why he can no longer be Cap. He really isn’t worth of the shield right now.
---
T'Calla: “Vengeance has consumed you. It is consuming them. I am done letting it consume me.”
T'Calla is the best of them all. I love him.
It might be kind of sad to say, but T’Challa and Peter Parker are the only good things to come out of this movie.
---
Martin Freeman as Everett Ross is a delight. We should have more of Martin Freeman taunting villains. Also, his American accent is better than Benedict Cumberbatch’s (Tom Hollond’s American accent is also bloody amazing).
---
Awww...Tony and Rhodey. These two are so perfect. It feels like real brotherhood and friendship, and Tony needs that. Plus, Rhodey admitting that this sucks but he won’t let it change him...*melts*. I want to hug them both. Also, you can see how much Tony adores Rhodey and is glad he’s alive and is crushed that this happened to him. So much emotion in RDJ’s eyes there. More A+ acting from him.
---
Steve’s ending monologues is...nice, I guess. He acknowledges that he hurt Tony and that he still cares for him. And he did kind of clean up his own mess by breaking everyone out of prison (because, again, he ruined these people’s lives for his own selfish reasons, so he better take steps to try to make it right...or at least, not as wrong).
I’m torn on his acknowledgement that he was selfish to keep the knowledge of Howard’s and Maria’s deaths from Tony. He admits it was selfish to do so, and he was only protecting himself. And he’s sorry he hurt Tony. But he doesn’t actually say he was wrong. Tony, despite his reputation, never hesitates to admit he is wrong (see, earlier in this movie, “Ultron...my fault” and “I was wrong” to Sam about five minutes after Tony learned Bucky had been framed. See also, “My fault, I’m a piping hot mess” to Pepper in IM3. Or in IM1: “making weapons was wrong, so we’re going to go straight to a press conference to put a stop to arms manufacturing and admit publicly that what I’ve been doing with my company is wrong. No, don’t go to the hospital. Press conference, now. Do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars, do not hesitate...well, stop for a cheeseburger. Then press conference.”). Tony is always willing to immediately take responsibility and admit when he is wrong. Steve does not. Yes, admitting you are wrong is hard, but in this, Tony is a better hero and better role model than Steve.
Steve clearly still cares for Tony. He doesn’t want him to be alone, and he admits that the Avengers were more Tony’s family than Steve’s. But that feels a bit like a slap, considering Steve has torn the Avengers apart when Tony said he was trying to do the exact opposite. So for Steve to say that family is important and “We need family”... that’s a bit painful right now, and it rings a bit hollow.
On the other hand, I appreciate Steve’s acknowledgement that this situation was a mess and everyone was doing what they thought was right. Steve says, “I wish we agreed on the Accords, I really do. I know you're doing what you believe in, and that's all any of us can do. That's all any of us should.” And that’s...lovely and true and honest, and it feels like it’s true to the values that Steve embodies...even if I don’t think he has been true to those values through much of this movie.
---
Conclusions...
So...I’m done. That was exhausting and awful.
T’Challa and Peter Parker are amazing. RDJ’s acting was incredible...he looks exhausted and tormented and viscerally in pain through most of the movie.
But most of the movie was a total mess.
I do see that both Steve and Tony have a point. I agree that, in the beginning, when this was just about the accords, there was no “right” and “wrong.” They both had valid perspectives that were essentially correct. Oversight and accountability are important, and Tony has known that ever since Iron Man 1. The Avengers cannot be vigilantes who are above the law and above the consequences of their actions. But it is equally true that government oversight is open to much corruption, that they would be open to the manipulation of people with changing agendas, and that it might very well limit their ability to do good, or force them into situations where they would be ordered to do something bad. These are all valid concerns and fears, and they are issues that should be addressed. They are not unfounded fears, given what we know of SHIELD and of Secretary Ross. Oversight is both necessary and dangerous.
But as things go on... it becomes clear that Steve is incapable of admitting when he is wrong (Tony, given time, would have probably admitted he was wrong to blame Bucky for his parents death too, but that whole scene was relentless and left Tony no time to breathe, let alone think). Steve makes his decision not to sign the accords in a moment of grief while at a funeral...never a good time to make rational and important decisions. He’s acting on emotion. He does the same when Bucky shows up. If he had made different decisions, this whole mess likely would have been contained and not blown up in their faces. And then he drags other people into his mess, with no concern for how many lives he puts in danger or potentially ruins. He has the excuse that he is trying to save the world and stop the super soldiers...but really that’s an excuse. Steve is really trying to protect Bucky and protect his own integrity by sticking to his guns and proving that he is better off as a vigilante than if he had signed the accords (that why he wants to handle things his way, and why he wants to save the world from the super soldiers instead of telling Tony about it...at least, that’s the only motive we can infer based on the bad writing).
Tony, for most of the movie, is trying to do what he thinks is right, too. But most of the time that means he is playing ball with the government just enough to not get in trouble and to protect the other avengers, with the full knowledge that he plans to use any good faith he establishes with Ross as a way to leverage his position and modify the accords later. He’s playing it practical and smart, if a bit sneaky. And most of the time, he is trying to save Steve because he’s terrified that Ross’s people will shoot him on sight. Yes, Tony should have listened to Steve’s claims that Bucky was innocent, because he was, but Steve didn’t give Tony much opportunity to take this seriously or to investigate it because Steve didn’t trust Tony enough to tell him everything he knew. Tony also didn’t think that the government oversight people would go as far as they did. That moment at the end when he walks into the prison is chilling. I get why people would see this as evidence that Tony was wrong about the accords. It is certainly Steve’s worst fears about the accords come to life. But it didn’t have to be this way. Tony had no way of knowing it would go that far. And the only reason it did go that far is that Steve kept making things worse (as Natasha said) until he had created a mess that Tony couldn’t sweep up for him (I get the feeling that Tony has been cleaning up the Avengers messes by paying for things they destroy, etc. I’m basing this off the beginning when Steve seems to expect that Tony will show up at the compound to help them deal with the aftermath of Lagos, and then he’s surprised when Tony shows up with Ross. Like he’s used to Tony just handling any PR disasters by throwing money at them and sweet-talking people).
Tony’s real mistake is giving into his sudden, passionate desire for vengeance at the end...but that’s a mistake shared by many other characters, and one which T’Challa makes for most of the movie before he realizes that vengeance is not the way. Tony probably would have come around to that realization himself if he’d been given the time. But he wasn’t.
I like Steve, well enough. He means well. He has a good heart, and he wants to do the right thing. He’s incredibly loyal to Bucky (and I really quite like Bucky!). But I really wish Steve was half as loyal to the Avengers and to Tony. I just feel like Steve wasn’t true to his own values here, certainly not to his faith in teamwork, togetherness, honesty, etc. He’s sometimes stupid and naive, and sometimes a hypocrite.
It’s Peggy’s advice, delivered by Sharon at Peggy’s funeral, that I think Steve misinterprets. She said, "Compromise where you can. Where you can't, don't. Even if everyone is telling you that something wrong is something right. Even if the whole world is telling you to move, it is your duty to plant yourself like a tree, look them in the eye, and say, 'No, you move'." And that’s...good advice. I just think that Steve misinterpreted when he should compromise and when he should stand his ground. Stand your ground for Bucky. Fight for him and his innocence. But don’t hide behind a stubborn desire to be right about the accords, when everyone already agrees that the accords are an imperfect solution to a messy problem. No one said they were 100% right. Just that they were likely necessary. There’s room for compromise there. That’s not the hill you should die on...or kill the Avengers on.
Steve misinterpreted when to compromise and when not to. And that misinterpretation is the “missing of the mark” (the Greek hamartia) that causes the tragedy. Steve loses everything except for Sam and Bucky. Tony loses everyone except for Rhodey (and he gains Peter, I guess). Rhodey loses his legs. A bunch of other people are now fugitives and criminals. A lot of lives were ruined. All of this because Steve made some bad decisions with good motives, but in a moment of emotion. Tony also made a bad decision (to try to kill Bucky) in a moment of emotion at the end, and it left him beaten and battered. You could argue that he was too quick to sign the accords out of emotion and guilt too, but at least he had a practical plan for how they would cope with those accords and adjust them later. If only the Avengers had stayed together to fight that battle together...as Steve once claimed they should face everything together.
So yeah.. a frustrating movie. I can see both sides. But I’m still Team Iron Man. With much sympathy for Bucky, and understanding that Steve meant well.
But this movie was just soooo long. Too much going on. Not all of it well-written or well-fleshed out. Zemo is almost an afterthought to excuse the bad writing. It’s not self-aware enough to recognize or acknowledge Cap’s naivete and hypocrisy...or the bad jokes. So... a pretty typical marvel movie in the hit-and-miss writing department.
#f@ck you marvel#marvel movies always feel like they have so much potential#but the marvel writers are shit#khent's marvel discussions#khent's media commentary#tony stark is a piping hot mess and the superhero i need#team cap or team iron man...or team this movie is dumb
