#oh the tragedy. the TRAGEDY.

Note
have you ever talked about the inherent tragedy of feylin's ending in acomaf
No but NOW I AM.
Ok ok ok
SOOOOOOOO
ACOMAF begins with them both being incredibly traumatized. Neither can sleep, neither are doing good, they both know the other is struggling, but they have a "silent agreement" not to talk about it and acknowledge Amarantha's still affecting them. They both use sex as a relief and as a coping mechanism because again they are both traumatized, and it likely grounds them both. But it's not enough, and sex can't save a relationship wherein the parties refuse to communicate with each other.
And this all comes to a head when Feyre eventually realizes what she needs to get better: freedom. Being coddled and protected stifles her, leaves her with nothing to do but wallow in trauma, and she wants to keep busy. Needs to. again i take issue with acomaf saying she wants to throw herself into danger because that's not realistic for ptsd and realistically she should WANT to be coddled post acotar and avoid danger at all costs. i personally feel like it'd be more powerful from a trauma-discussing perspective if she clung to being coddled as she wasted away and her journey in acomaf was about finding the joy in life and LIVING again and learning to not be afraid of danger and death but alas we got what we got, but the need to keep busy thing does make sense.
So after months of no communication or discussion about their trauma, as they're both sinking deeper and deeper into it, Feyre has realized what she needs, and she finally voices what she wants. But it's different than everything she's said and done before. The people themselves didn't want Feyre's help rebuilding and pushed her away. And Feyre didn't want a title previously, didn't want to meet his courtiers and begin learning the intricate court politics during the parties, and refused to engage with people during the tithe. But now she wants something different. She doesn't want to sit around anymore, suddenly wants to be involved, she wants to do THINGS but not in the careful safe environment where Tamlin initially tried to get her involved in politics. And Tamlin panics, and we get the study scene. Because he's also realized what he needs to get better, and that's assurance of her safety. Which he has when she's at home doing nothing, or when she's learning the ins and outs of court politics, or is followed around by a dozen guards, but cannot guarantee if she trains or is helping out around the court. Especially if she trains. Because Hybern is hunting her, and the other High Lords will kill her if they learn she has their magic, and he has no super-secret-hidden city to train her safely, no mind-reading powers to check on her in a moment's notice. She could die and he wouldn't know; would be powerless to help her. But Feyre does not know this. Feyre does not know of being hunting by the attor, or the likelihood that the High Lords will want the return of their power. She needs freedom. He needs her safety.
So Tamlin puts his needs, his PTSD, and his trauma before her own, the exact opposite of what he did a mere book before when he sent her home before she freed him, taking away her choices, her autonomy, and morphing him into her abuser.
So their relationship crashes and burns, defined and destroyed by trauma, as the expressions of their PTSD as written in canon--with Tamlin needing Feyre to be safe, and Feyre needing freedom and danger to truly live again--doom and damn their relationship, because their individual traumas warp them so the paths of healing for each mean they cannot heal together.

ok. icebreaker-type question. imagine time travel exists, but all of the serious super big things that likely come to mind when time travel is a factor is stuff youre not “qualified” for, as a civilian. what stupid, petty, thing do you use time travel for?
personally, i’d buy this one limited-time pin from a con i had no chance of going to, and also buy some transformers animated toys while they were still being sold.

tags update: rafah is 8th on trending
edit: it is now at 7th
FOR CONTEXT:
israel has launched an invasion and heavy bombing of rafah(a.k.a the "safe zone" 1.7 million Palestinians were forced into) after the UN approved a ceasefire resolution for the rest of ramadan... all 2 weeks of it. results were 14 votes for YESes. 0 NOs. and 1 didn't vote(take a guess who it was) the resolution called for an unconditional release of all hostages on both sides. so yes, mr "i am totally just doing this to get my hostages back whom i totally care about and totally didn't kill" Israel is launching harder attacks even after being promised all hostages release. just in case anyone was still questioning if Israel was using hostages as just an excuse for colonialism
russia tried to turn it into a permanent ceasefire but the US vetoed it. i guess vetoing a ceasefire looks less bad when russia is the one proposing it
DON'T STOP TALKING ABOUT PALESTINE

god it really is so tragic for rhaenyra and alicent to have that conversation, for them both to realize the mistake that was made, and know that it is utterly unfixable. the wheels of war are already turning and alicent as dowager queen cannot roll them back. she does not have the political power anymore to make that happen. the two women at the core of the story carry the truth of the conflict--that it shouldn't be happening, that this was a mistake, viserys always meant to enfranchise his daughter--but the world is bigger than them, and reality a much starker, harsher thing. this is war. not because it is right, or just--war rarely is either--but because blood demands blood, and there is no stopping it

Being a batfam fan is funny because people will make a post like “here’s my headcanon-“ and it’s just something that’s directly canon to the story then post about major canon events and get everything wrong.
#this post was inspired by me remembering the experience of reading death in the family#after only knowing the fanbase version and realizing oh none of that shit happened okay#like girl you don’t understand it’s so bad#Jason wasn’t even fired as Robin#He’s not accused of murdering anyone by Bruce#He’s not trying to prove himself at all he’s just looking for his mom#The reason Bruce didn’t go after him right away is because he was tracking down a goddamn nuke the Joker stole#Then after he finds it and handles the problem he helps Jason track down moms 2 and 3#Also Jason died in like 20 minutes?? even less??#He died in less time than it took his mother to smoke a cigarette#Bruce literally went ‘wait here I’ll be right back’ and was gone for less time than a trip to the grocery store#and then you go into the Jason Todd tag and they act like Bruce pulled the damn trigger on him#Like besties I don’t know how to tell you this he basically did everything right he possibly could have#Even him benching Jason from Robin temporarily happens so that he can get Jason into therapy about his trauma#Like the whole point is that neither of them did anything wrong bad shit just sometimes happens#That’s the tragedy. The drama.#Bruce couldn’t have made better choices in the position he was in and Jason was never going to make different ones#It was inevitable#Anyway rant over please read death in the family before I lose my mind#batfam#batman#jason todd#tim drake#dick grayson#damian wayne#bruce wayne

I know the "I understood that reference" moment is played for laughs and like Steve is being stupid but he just. He looks so fucking proud of himself. He's such a dork and it's so sad.
He's living in a world that feels familiar sometimes, that he recognizes sometimes, but that is also so different. The architecture, the fashion, the technology, the food and the drinks, and the way people talk.
The language must have evolved some, there are words we use that we don't even realize are references, that we think must have always been there but they weren't.
The pop culture is different, the movies and the music and the arts in general.
Maybe Steve feels like he's living in another dimension, in a mere shadow of the world he came from, and here's fucking Wizard of Oz.
That movie came out in 1939, he probably saw it when it was brand new, he might have read the book.
And finally, there's something he recognizes. Something from his world, something he knows and understands.
He's a lost puppy jumping at everything that looks vaguely like home. He's desperate for it. And he's played for laughs for it, by the movie and the characters around him.

Yesterday for the first time I saw a post in a public forum that actually points out Marika has every reason to be so cold & distant towards Maliketh... thanks God.
The Two Fingers/ EIden Beast stood aside & let her entire family die, then when it successfully entrapped her in a literal divine prison it said “here we gave you a brother lol” like istg WHAT are you even saying. Her entire real family is already in a ditch !!! No prayers to the Gods help them! And now these Godlike beings are like take this random guy as your bro???
It’s confirmed in the base game Shadowbeast is like sleeper agent that the Two Fingers put there to monitor their Empyrean & off them if they try to rebel, no matter how earnest the Shadowbeast sounds. Ranni and Blaid literally grew up together & we still have to get rid of him at the end of her questline 💀 Marika was a young woman who had lost everything then forced to recognize some stranger as family. To her that must be some fucked up joke.
And get this, I do believe Maliketh and Blaidd care for Marika & Ranni genuinely, it’s a tragedy that they were born to bring “nothing but bale” to the person they love. Just like how Messmer, the beloved son in the Shadow, also became a curse to the person he loves the most in the end. That’s the doomed narrative they are trying to portray.

I just realized that The Locked Tomb series would be waaaay more popular than it is right now if one or both of the leads were male cause people go nuts for hogwarts esc houses, enemy's to lovers romance, and lore as deep as my fingers in your mom.
Someone please talk to me about this I am genuinely out raged.
