Phares' Lost Lines!

Long story short, after much much much toil of trying to surf through computer- and audio-nerds' jargon and decidedly untrustworthy-named websites, I was finally able to crack the .acb and .awb audio files that people were able to preserve of the Dragalia voice cast! (If you've never heard of those audio files, well then, now you know where I was starting at, too... Let's just put it this way - it's an audio file that even audio players/editors like Audacity aren't equip to handle, at least ordinarily.)

And as you might suspect from the title, Phares had three voice lines that go unaccounted for in his actual unit anywhere in the game. Strangely, all three I'm guessing seem to hail from The Blood That Binds event, which makes it doubly strange since, well, we didn't get voiced events here.

Transcripts in order (and hopefully the actual voicelines, if you want to take a listen!):

"We have our belief in possibility to thank for our retaking the Halidom."

"It's been so long since we were all together, and yet fate prevents us from enjoying it."

"A summons from Leonidas? I have a bad feeling about this..."

Also not sure this one is truly lost per se but it's certainly a line not recorded in the wiki despite being 'accessible' (for however a very short window in-game) in the form of his summon quote, which is: "Let us begin our inquiry into truth!"

Hm, actually, before I post, I think I might take a guess that these are instead lines for him on the homescreen while the event was active, which might make them not 'unknown' per se but certainly inaccessible now, since I highly doubt anyone caught ordinary gameplay of all of them occurring.

Still, they're pretty darn niche and hard to get to in the game, even on the servers, so maybe someone finds it interesting regardless!

Mini-review:

The drama adaptation of this book was my favorite k-drama of last year, so I came into this movie version with my interest piqued but also kind of wary. And, while there were certainly a lot of things about it that I liked, at the end of the day I didn't connect with it as much. I feel like this film doesn't reach the same level of depth, neither in the characters nor the approach to social issues. Still, the relationship between the leads is very engaging; in a way, it shows that your soulmate doesn't necessarily have to come from romance. And the acting is great, especially Kim Go Eun's. Now I just have to read the book, and then I'll have enjoyed all versions of Love in the Big City.

thinking about kieran again... particularly about how i feel like he struggles with a weak sense of self and how him identifying so heavily with ogrepon, (or at least the version of ogrepon he originally knew,) probably helped him stabilize how he saw himself, only to have something he considered so core to his identity essentially ripped away from him. not only that, it was by someone he seemingly wanted to trust and open up to, (which i doubt he does very often.)

i definitely think that the way he's handling things is far from healthy, but i can get why he'd have such an intense reaction to losing something that was so important to him and basically being betrayed by someone he wanted to consider a friend.

Appreciation post for some of the quick, pretty (or quality [affectionate]) in-between frames in Teardrop V1, courtesy of Kenichi Hara and the other OP/END Creators: Junpei Ogawa, Futoshi Higashide, Sono Kato, Aoi Kisaragi, Takayuki Noguchi, and Masayuki Hiraoka. your work on all that cake is much appreciated

There are a bunch of nice shots in the scene as they're setting up to duel, but I love that closeup on Manjoume that lasts for 2-3 frames, and that one transition shot between Kenzan and Shou where Kenzan is confidently passing the baton to Shou (still enjoy how their friendship arc went in Season 2). Neos's cake aside, that other shot is just funny to me--"Neos offers you [your least-favorite thing], do you accept?" And then with a down Judai in this version, there are these frames with some melancholy to his face, ending with him seeming to force a smile and "act tough," as the lyrics describe. The lineart and use of thick lines here/there really helps too, and the song is just always fantastic. 10/10, someone hug Judai

Bonus: the V2 equivalents of those last six frames, as Judai finds his feet yet still steels himself for what's to come (as this version started being used as the duel with Professor Satou and the question of what he duels for come up):
