Home… God he was glad to be home.

The double shift working well into the night was, admittedly, Olyn’s bad. The laser focus was unyielding, he had become a vessel for his tools as he took on that beast of an engine block replacement. By the time he had come out of The Zone(™) the job was done and he wanted to go home and sleep for 80 hours give or take.

His whole morning had been a slow, intermittent trek through his house, broken up by naps on the floor. By 1pm, he had made it to his couch. Breakfast would be within his grasp… eventually. 

A knock on the door dashed any hopes of pacing himself.

“Babe, let me in, it’s fucking cold!”

Oh.

Sighing deeply, Olyn peeled himself from the surface of the couch, dragging himself in a great sacrifice to the door.

“Mi amor, mi vida, mi cielo. What the hell are you doing here?” he sighed once he had opened it. “I’m TIRED. I’m probably gonna just go back to sleep.”

“You could do that,” Adri hummed as he entered. “Or,” he turned around, holding a little makeup bag up by the corner, dangling it enticingly, “smoke you out?”

“Fuuuck, they were NOT kidding about those t-breaks.” Adri smoothed his hair back, as he lay back against the arm of the couch, legs planted in Olyn’s lap. “It’s blowing my goddamn mind here, Oly.”

“Yeah, I know. You’re up in space right now. With Elon Musk’s shitty car,” Olyn replied, his head tilted back to rest against the back of the couch. “Let’s go take a nap.”

“No quitters, we’re finishing this fucking bowl first,” Adri said, lifting his head to glare before lolling his head back again.

“That’s what you said about the last one,” Olyn sighed deeply. “Fine, but I need some ice cream or something, I’ve got a crazy fucking sweet tooth right now.”

Adri lifted himself again, gesturing vaguely but wildly.

“That’s what I’m always fucking saying to you! Those sugar cravings don’t play.”

“Because you are a human trash panda, babe. I have NEVER seen a man do the things you’ve done to a pack of gummy bears,” Olyn looked down at him, unable to keep from cracking a smile. “Pero, you’re not gonna drag my ass to the corner store, are you?”

“Oh my fucking god, why did you have to say that?” Adri groaned, throwing his forearm over his eyes.

"Adri. No. It's cold out there and I'm so comfortable. Please, baby, I am begging you not to make me put on my pants and face the elements," Olyn protested, looking like a man on death row. 

"But they've got that horchata machine at the 7-11. Come on, you want candy too," Adri pouted, giving him a weak shove.

Olyn whined. He DID want candy. He DID want some Takis and a big ass Slurpee. He’d been thinking about it for a good 10 minutes already, he just didn’t want to say something to jeopardize whatever warm gay cuddle puddle they had going on here. 

"I can't believe I'm doing this. Only because you convinced me, alright? We gotta smoke the rest of this and then we'll go get candy. Promise," Olyn groaned, returning the shove. 

“Okay, so don’t be a coward,” Adri said, all but shoving the ~ paraphernalia ~ in Olyn’s face. 

Olyn gave Adri a half-hearted glare, sticking his tongue out and trying not to think of putting his lips on Adri’s instead of the pipe. 

“You owe me,” he said, blowing his smoke down in Adri’s face. “YOU’RE paying.”

Adri scoffed in indignation.

“I smoked you out, come on,” he said, tossing a throw pillow at Olyn.

Olyn managed to catch the pillow, Adri’s aim was surprisingly on point when he was high. Making sure to set the pipe down first, he put the pillow in his lap, remaining vigilant. At the first sight of Adri’s grabby hands reaching for it, he presumed the worst (getting hit with a pillow) and tossed it to the other side of the room.

“Yeah, but you're about to have me put pants on and I hate that. I hate it, baby.”

“You’ve got like 15 pairs of sweats, come on. You know how much I love it when men wear sweatpants,” Adri whined. His turn to pout now.

“Fiiiine. My ass does look great in a pair of sweats,” Olyn conceded, peeling Adri off of himself to stand up. “Be right back.”

Olyn’s trip to the bedroom was a blur. He was tired. And really REALLY high. Goddamn he was so high. He didn’t even remember getting dressed, only coming back into the living room to see Adri half hanging off the couch. Naturally.

“Olyyyyn. Olyyyyy.”

“What?” he groaned. “Adri, what?”

With a soft sigh of affectionate aggravation, he hauled Adri back up onto the couch.

“Olyyyy isn’t a word, babe, c’mon.”

“I’m so fucking toasted. No, not even toasted. I’m crispy. Left me in the air fryer too long.”

“I know, mami, I know,” Olyn sighed, trying to pull Adri into a sitting position. “Now get up. Get up or I’m gonna drag you. Baby I do not want to have to carry your sorry ass to the corner store. Vamos.”

Now that he was in a proper sitting position, Adri let out a loud, guttural groan of indignation. He wanted a drink and some candy so fucking bad, but he was gonna complain about it the whole time.

“Put my Docs back on meee.”

Olyn responded with a deep sigh, staring down at him.

"You. Are. So. Lucky. That I love you."

He kneeled down, beginning the arduous process of getting Adri’s boots on him. He never loosened his laces. Why did he never loosen his laces?

Adri let out a snort, prompting Olyn to lift his head.

"We look like we're out of one of those gay leather fetish magazines right now.”

Olyn just stared at him for a moment before he doubled over laughing, struggling to stand up.

"What? Where the hell did that come from?" He asked, still laughing as he reached down to offer his hand. He sure as shit wasn’t gonna let Adri get away with conking out on his couch now.

"You don't know what bootblacking is? Come on, get it together," Adri said, weakly patting him on the head. He loved patting Olyn on the head, he had that little ahoge that bounced right back up. It probably wasn’t as funny sober, but it sure was entertaining right now.

“I can’t deal with you,” Olyn said as he finally pulled Adri up by his arm and dragged him to the door. “You’re gonna give me the giggles. Goddamn it’s cold, you sure you want to do this?”

"Yes, oh my god, if I don't have a soda in my hand in the next 5 minutes I'm killing someone," Adri replied, pushing past Olyn and beginning to make his way down the steps.

"Jesus," Olyn said, following shortly. "Babe, if you kill someone you can't move in with me. You can't, like, have a criminal history. I won't let you. My sweet, crazy boy." He grabbed Adri’s hand and gave it a squeeze, leaning into him. “I’ll help you dispose of the body.”

“Criminal history? Who says we’d get caught?” Adri shoved his hands in his coat pockets.

"Oh, babe. We'd be the sexiest Bonnie and Clyde," Olyn said, leaning closer. "Two beautiful, smart guys on the run?" He sighed dreamily. "You wanna rob a bank, baby?"

Adri snorted violently, descending into a fit of giggles.

“Oly quit, I can’t with you!”

“No, babe, I’m dead serious.” OIyn grabbed Adri by the shoulders, turning him towards him. “You're sexy and you like to commit crimes. We’d be such a hot criminal couple.”

"Shoplifting snacks from Target doesn't constitute as a crime, Olyn," Adri scoffed, brushing him off and starting to walk again. "Overpriced white people candy is BEGGING to be yoinked."

Olyn gasped a little bit.

"Adri!" He said, smacking him on the hip. "Did you steal something? Have you been stealing things from Target and not telling me?"

Adri doubled over laughing hysterically, holding onto his shoulder.

"Olyn quit, everything is funny right now!"

Olyn made sure to catch him before he fell over. 

“Babe, you are SO high right now. Like, it’s insane how high you are.”

"You're high too, look at you!" Adri said, giving him a little push before deadpanning, looking deathly serious. "Olyn you better not fucking laugh."

"... Or what? You gonna kill me?" Olyn asked before busting up into a fit of giggles. "I'm trying! I'm trying so hard to keep it in, I'm sorry!" He said, turning his face away so Adri wouldn't see him laughing.

"I knew it! You fucking stoner ass bitch," Adri laughed, tears pricking at the corners of his eyes.

Olyn laughed even harder, hiding his face in Adri’s neck. He was so high. Being a stoner ass bitch with his beautiful, weird little goth bf. He wouldn’t have it any other way.

"I'm gonna have so much cotton mouth when we get to the 7-11," he said, still hiding his face.

"I already do, hurry the fuck up," Adri wheezed, smacking him weakly but repeatedly on the back as they made it to the 7-11 parking lot.

"Okay, I gotchu, baby, I'm going."

The two of them managed to enter the convenience store with no further incident, taking a moment to breathe and compose themselves.

"Oh, thank god," Olyn said, heading straight for the Slurpee station. "I've never needed a Slurpee more in my life. Adri. Come here." He said, standing by the machines and waiting for Adri to come stand next to him.

"Hold the fuck on, I'm getting my tea," Adri said, coming around with a can of peach tea in his hand. "Baby, you want your Takis?"

“Ooh, I could kill a bag of Takis right now,” Olyn said, putting most of his focus into filling up his Slurpee cup without spilling anything. “Get me the regular fuegos?”

Out of the corner of his eye, he caught the glimpse of a bag being lifted into the air from the other aisle, as if asking to confirm these were, indeed, the ones.

“Si,” he replied. Getting the lid on this goddamn cup was rocket surgery at the moment. "I'm gonna go see if they have hot dogs or something. Do you want a hot dog?"

“Get me a couple of crispitos,” Adri replied, sounding deep in contemplation.

“Bet.”

Once Olyn had acquired his hot dog, Slurpee, and Adri’s crispitos, he made his way to the checkout counter. After a moment, Adri came around the corner with his peach tea, Olyn’s Takis, and some peach rings.

“Okay, I’m trying to be responsible,” he said, a deeply thoughtful, almost sage-like expression on his face as he stared down at the snacks.

Olyn had been standing there staring at the clerk, who was not interested in him in the least. Poor guy just wanted to do his job, Olyn was just too high to be paying attention.

"You want me to pay, baby?" He asked, taking his eyes off the clerk finally.

Adri wrinkled his nose and waved a dismissive hand at him

“No pasa nada,” he said, sliding the items across the counter before looking down. “Babe, this lighter has a fucking pikachu on it.”

"Oh my god does it?" Olyn said, looking at the rack of lighters. The Pikachu lighter was so funny for no reason. He had to have it.

"You're gonna have to let me pay, I need that lighter," he said, looking up at Adri with legitimate puppy eyes, 33 year old man that he was.

"You just wanna pay so you've got dibs. We're gonna do joint custody of this lighter, you hear me?" Adri asked him with a gentle elbow to the ribs.

"Oh, I don't know if I want joint custody. This may be the dealbreaker in our relationship," Olyn said, reaching for the lighter and holding it up like it was a baby. "Look at him! He's so cute. I'll give you visitation rights to the lighter, that's about all I'm willing to give you, baby."

Adri stared at him with an intense expression on his face before choking and breaking down laughing for what felt like the 8th time that day. 

And how could Olyn not laugh in turn? He was high as a kite in a 7-11, it was practically a requirement. He turned around and put the lighter on the counter with the rest of the stuff, smiling at the clerk.

"This one too please," he said, handing over his debit card. The clerk looked at him like he wasn't going to make it to the end of this transaction.

Adri only bit his lip in the background, every fiber of his being going into remaining composed and trying not to look like an entire idiot. 

"You good? You're not gonna laugh again are you?" Olyn asked, looking back. He didn't want them to both be giggling messes, but if Adri started, he was gonna lose it. "I'm trying to be responsible!" he told the cashier, like he even cared. He got his debit card back and the cashier gave him a look that spoke volumes. Whatever. Not his problem. 

"Thank you for your services, sir," Olyn said, grabbing the bag and waiting for Adri to pull himself together.

Adri gave the clerk a brief nod before busting out laughing again, having to depend on Olyn to guide him out of the store. Which was one of those ‘blind leading the blind’ scenarios, considering Olyn was also laughing his ass off.

By the time they made it back out into the parking lot, Olyn had managed to compose himself at least partially, holding Adri around the shoulders to keep him upright at the very least.

“Baby,” he said, “you are SO high.”

Adri only wheezed more violently, doubling over again with a frail attempt to swat at Olyn.

“So are you, qué chingados!?”

Both of them continued to make morons of themselves in the parking lot before the hysterics died down into small giggles. 

“We’re so much fun.”

“Truly. Now let’s get home, I call dibs on the tortilla blanket.”

“Your case for custody of the pikachu lighter isn’t looking too hot, babe.”

“Cállateeee! …Pendejo.”

They had to stop walking again.

Actually genuinely have never gotten a rude comment in my life I did once get someone being hyper pushy about new chaps when I was like.... 19? Sometimes comments veer I think towards misunderstanding unreliable narrator elements and can be a little intense as a result

Below the cut because I do be ramblin' (: They're not really in any particular order, I just love them all for different reasons.

1) If We Knew Anything At All

This one was a hell ship prompted by a list that Topsy shared with a bunch of us and I had a brainwyrm, then ended up crying while I wrote the end of it. Quite possibly one of my favorite ever pieces. This one is both the inevitable end to my fic universe and something completely outside time. How did I manage this? Via Sheogorath's voicing. I don't think it gets more unreliable than that.

2) Metempsychosis

A very dear friend and fantastic teammate I met through Skywind sent me this prompt and it gave me such an excellent challenge not only to flex on weird god voice stuff again, but also to bust out some spoken word poetry tricks. I did end up recording myself reading this one too and it felt like old times. I loved all the layers of references I shoved into 1,000 words. It is also my first Morrowfic. And also one that reminded me what I am capable of even more strongly than some of my other projects did. 🥰

3) Serpens Caput

This one is newer, yes BUT OH MY GODS what a flex it was. ANOTHER Morrowfic but it's set in Ceth's fic universe featuring not only major character death but the mindset of a villain in his final moments. And we get to see Danger!Josh through his eyes. It was WEIRD. WEIRD WEIRD but so much fun. I don't think I've yelled so much about a fic whilst writing before. Ceth threw me this prompt, but I don't think was expecting this to end up...being this way (: Borrowed the description of Teldryn and Nerevar from her universe and just RAN WITH IT.

4) Little Dragon

This was written as part of my cute, happy LDB!Athis polycule AU where nothing is quite as horrifically messy as my main fic universe. It is a different kind of catharsis to write, often fun and humorous and a flex in that direction, since I didn't know what i was capable of—I always write pining and heartbreak lol. This came about as part of a fic writer's duel with AU (judged by Poly) which was honestly one of the coolest fandom experiences I've ever been in. It has become its own thing now with multiple other stories and I've been in yet another fandom duel since then. So it's all cute fuzzy feelings and happy memories and I love it to bits.

and last but certainly not least:

5) The World on Our Shoulders

My longfic which throws characters into extremely tough situations, handles horribly difficult themes and topics, shows people being messy and still finds ways to show it all with grace. It's what got me out of my multi-year writing slump and truly, truly brought me back to myself. So yes maybe some of the characters have some of my irl nonsense. Some scenes are far too relatable and it's a little scary sometimes how horrible that is, but it's a different kind of Catharsis. I love also the support its gotten so far for its specific type of storytelling structure as well as all the weird details that sprawl into other stories (Like my honorable mention written for Para, Recurse) and sequels and spin offs. It's been a great joy to be writing this and it's continued to inspire me. From draft one, which I wrote in challenge mode, posting every day this last February to now, where I am mid-ground-up-edit, I love this project to bits and will do all I can to see it through to the end. I see how much I can accomplish in this project. I see what can be done with common tropes and themes and even Fic in general. It's unalienated labor that I do for the sheer hell of it because I can and it's mine and I don't have to follow The Rules. There's something beautiful about that. It's one reason I get up at the crack of dawn every day -- to write for the sake of writing. Out of spite sometimes for all the ways the world tries to crush this kind of self expression out of us. This is my gem of a project. And I am proud of it and how far I've come since I started it. (:

Hi there!! I really want to start reading your works since you've been kind enough to read mine, but you have such a wide array of fics I'm not sure where to start - I was hoping I could ask if you had any recommendations of your own works, or any personal personal favourites you could pass along!

Oh my goodness, first off, apologies for taking a few days to respond, and second off... gosh, I've never been asked to rec my own work before, so this was surprisingly tough haha

I do indeed love your work and know you're a big fan of the Bakurae and Malikses, so going off that I've compiled a list showing the "greatest hits," if you will :D

Domestic Ishtars series - The first YGO fic I ever wrote, which spawned a series and has slowly consumed my life and made me feel terrible that I haven't updated in so long I swear I will y'all I wanna finish this series so bad... If you like a heavy dose of post-canon angst and Ishtar family shenanigans (particular for Malik) then I'd def recommend this series

Resistance - The first fic I was ever honest-to-god proud of and stayed up all night finishing in basically one go haha I'll admit, it gets a bit harsh midway through (I was not especially kind to TKB in this one, oy vey) but it ends really cathartic and I still revisit this fic if I need reassurance that my future writing won't suck :P

Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart - My longest fic (see, Rochelle, you can write novel-length work, damn it!) and the only one I believe exists on AO3 for the helioshipping tag (awesome ship name courtesy of @sitabethel) because I was (and still am) obsessed with the idea of a post-canon "what if" polycule scenario involving Ryou, Malik, YB and TKB :)

When the World Ends - I like writing AU YGO fics a lot, and for whatever reason this one is my favourite and just came together exactly how I wanted! It's post-apocalyptic meets dive bar meets mechanical bull meets dancing to outdated jukebox music meets (yet again) cathartic ending, all under the guise of getting Malik, YM and TKB together because why the hell not :D

Out of the Darkness - Figured I had to share at least one other non-explicit fic so I didn't come across as too thirsty lol I wrote this one for a lovely YGO zine in 2022 and (along with another upcoming zine fic that I can't talk too much about atm) it's near and dear to my heart, especially with the absolutely gorgeous art accompanying it ;n; If you can't tell, I love Malik and putting him in scenarios and then having (usually) TKB come in to fix those scenarios, so if you're a citronshipping fiend like me you'll probably like this one

It's been a while!!!

(warning, very stupid long rant, I didn't realize how long I've written, oh dear god I'm so sorry)

Ok firstly, when I went to Tumblr with the help of @lmaojune (hi bestie if you see this). I was completely blind to the fandom, I used to be in a Pokemon Amino and posted whatever, what're aus? What're fics? Ships? Didn't know em. Then saw all the Monteddy art and was like y'know what? Why not draw them. Then it dawned on me I could basically draw anything I wanted , didn't matter how goofy (yes it took me that long to realize, I was a very serious artist back in Amino). Not long, I saw everyone's Glamrock Fronnie, as a Monty enthusiast I was like NOOOO HE WAS LEFT OUT :( but then I stumbled upon other people's art with Monty and Bonnie, I've read so much fics about them being enemies or fics where Bonnie's the abusive partner of either Monty or Freddy but I didn't see him as how I see him today (the sweet idiot hornball). Then I started drawing Bonnie more but then I saw Izzy (holidayturkeyy who which I will NOT tag I do not need them seeing this rant guys, pls save me the humility) and their idea of a polycule with the three guys, polycule and Fazbear? BOOM FAZCULE (also it's a reason I don't call the ship Gatorbearbun, I think that derived from Twitter? The hellscape land of musk :> /hj), and THE ART WAS TOO SWEET I COULDNT KVMDKDLS then dots aligned and I got hooked. Sorry for the long answer but to cut this short, I've been shipping them ever since I've discovered the ship's exsistance, that being like 2 years ago already (geez time is fast)

As Bill hyperventilated in Mrs. Lovett’s arms, Sweeney came thundering down the stairs.

“What in the bloody Hell are you doing down here?” He asked somewhat breathlessly as he attempted mental acrobatics on how to keep Bill on his side after this.

“Oh, thank the Gods you’re okay!” Bill gasped, pushing away Mrs. Lovett as he shakily approached Sweeney, who in turn became terribly confused.

“Me?? Of course I’m fine, what...?”

“Weren’t you attacked?? How else did he end up like that??” Bill pointed at Officer Maltby’s body, brushing against Sweeney’s side. Clarity washed over the barber in seconds as he took Bill’s hand, forcing them to look at him again.

“What do you believe happened?” He asked softly. Bill’s dark brows drew together.

“That for whatever reason, someone came into your parlour and attacked both of you...?”

“I’m fine, Bill. There was an attack but, not on me.” Sweeney remained grimly serious as he continued, “I told you I would take care of that swine...”

Bill’s eyes widened slowly with realization. “You... you killed him, then?”

“Yes. Because he was a threat to you.” Sweeney placed affectionate hands on their shoulders, his expression one of adoration and suffering and madness. “Do you understand, now, how I am going to enact revenge for my Lucy and Johanna? Do you know how much I care about you?”

They looked back at the body, still bleeding out despite its breath long taken. Sweeney’s calmness seemed to infect them as they took a breath, time slowing around them.

“I suppose he was only a tosser cop. What meaning did his life have?” Bill returned his gaze to Sweeney’s with a small smile, though his grey eyes still held apprehension. “But what are you going to do with the body?”

Relief enveloped the barber like never before. He turned them toward Mrs. Lovett. “My neighbour had the most peculiar but efficient idea I’ve ever heard proposed. Not only that, but it gives the corrupt a chance to finally give back what they’ve destroyed.”

Mrs. Lovett blushed coyly and waved her hand dismissively. “It was a no-brainer, really. Well, William, you were so curious about the meat...” She then retrieved a small, intricately beaded purse and held it out in a flashy display.

“Pirelli’s purse...” Bill looked between it and the meat still waiting to be put to use before covering his mouth. “They’ve eaten him. You killed him, too??”

“He remembered me, from before. I had no choice.” Sweeney explained.

“You’re not going to stop with the Judge, are you?”

“Quite the opposite, my dear. No other’s blood will satiate me until I have his throat, but until then, it will spill. It will spill and fill up the poor masses he and his colleagues look down upon until our spirits are full, and then some. But that brings me to a difficult question...” He placed a large, deadly hand on Bill’s jaw, his face inches from their own as he whispered, “Are you a baker, or are you a pie, Bill?”

In that moment, they felt a rush of every little feeling of affection they had ever had toward Sweeney. Every flirtatious phrase they had bit back, every less-than-platonic compliment they had forced down, all because they believed it would be inappropriate considering the circumstances. Yet, here he was, practically confessing his capacity to love again, desperate for Bill’s approval. Bill cupped Sweeney’s face in his small hands, shivering pleasantly at the texture of his stubble.

“Baker.”

Behind them, Mrs. Lovett’s expression turned sour. “This isn’t much of a place to be having an intimate moment, don’t you think, Mr. T?” She snapped. “Why don’t you two go upstairs while I take care of the ‘fresh supplies?’”

Sweeney guided Bill’s hands away from his face, lacing his fingers with theirs. “I couldn’t agree more. There’s much I think we need to talk about.”

It definitely is! I always love some AUs, but I have so much trouble coming up with them for this show because so few things can match the energy of being at war together. The small space and the trauma and everything else combine to create some really interesting character dynamics, and they're so hard to replicate in a place with lower stakes or more space or just anything where one of the variables is changed. I have so much respect for someone who can write it well (and will definitely read that fic) and wish I could do the same! But hey, making things far more complicated than they need to be is the life of a writer 😂

I completely understand how you feel with the canoe ship though, I am the Queen of Canoes in a couple of my other fandoms 😂 I literally originated a ship tag for one on Ao3, so I'm right there with you on the tiny ships I would go to war for lmao. But yes BJ is so husband coded all the time! BJ Papa San showed it most explicitly, but even just the little things he does in camp are him trying to connect to the husband and father part of himself he left behind when he got sent over to Korea. He's a good person, but he also so genuinely enjoys that role, and it's so obvious to see if you're looking for it. We love a man that's respectful and kind 😤

Mulcahy is so interesting, and I look forward to that episode mentioned! Due to several literature and art classes over the course of my schooling I have become very good at using my Catholic upbringing to completely overanalyze Catholic media, and I am absolutely delighted to be able to pull it in here. It's clear that Mulcahy is genuinely kind and believes in goodness, and I think if he ever comes to the realization that religion isn't always the way to show that it'll tear him apart. He's devoted so much of his life to his religion (hell the man is named after three saints, he was practically BORN to be a priest) so anything that can dismantle that would hit him really hard. And unfortunately, I love throwing my favorite characters into difficult situations, so sorry in advance Father. I loved the glimpse into his head in Dear Sis, and I genuinely had to rewind a few times to watch Hawkeye talking to him over again. It's just so a u g h (affectionate)

I also just finished C*A*V*E and oh boy oh boy I could probably write half a novel on this already but I'll try to keep it short for now. The Hawkeye and Margaret connection! The deeper peek into who Hawkeye is as a person rather than just a doctor, and what actually makes him tick! Margaret sharing her own fears and offering to sit with him to make him feel better! BJ staying close to Hawkeye when he had to come check on his patient in the cave so Hawk knows he has someone safe nearby! Margaret and Hawkeye facing their fears together! Hawk playing a dumb little game with her in the OR to take her mind off things!! This episode is truly making me Feral oh my god, I don't think it will ever leave my brain, it's just gonna live there now.

It is SUCH a good show! I knew it was before but now that I'm actually watching it through I'm getting the full weight of it and god it's a masterpiece. You can talk about the cultural impact all day, but it's hard to truly understand w h y it had such an impact until you're watching it yourself and picking up on all these little intricacies. I've been keeping a list of good episodes for myself, just for Personal Reasons I can't really explain, and there are f a r too many episodes on that list already. So many are just so good, I want to remember them and rewatch them and frankly just roll around in them like a dog that's found a particularly nice patch of grass. This show already shaped me when I watched it with my parents when I was younger but genuinely I don't think I will be the same after watching it all the way through. Just, what a show.

Weeping. After reading this, I had to go check my Canoe status. But it also makes perfect sense that this fandom is ripe for rare ships because though they are in the center of a situation that demands order, there is very little sense of actual social order as they might experience back home. I think even if I wasn't The Way I Am with multishipping, I'd still be compelled to go, "Yeah, you know what, everything is pretty permissible here. The line between friendship and lover blurs often. There's not much demand for monogamy among denizens of this camp. They're seeking comfort and love where they can find it and they're all very good at giving it." It compels me idk

I'm really enjoying hearing your thoughts about Mulcahy!! I feel the same way about him as well, how he's ripe for a thunderbolt realization or two that his faith isn't going to be the Way and, in fact, is often dealing the damage in a lot of situations. I love you mentioning his three names, though. It immediately takes my mind right back to Trapper and his own long series of very Catholic names. Trap, I am putting you in a jar and staring very hard at you. Tell me your Catholic past. Did you really consider becoming a priest. Why didn't you and Mulcahy get more screen time together.

CAVE MY BELOVED. CAVE, my Margaret/Hawk/BJ thesis (yes, even in a platonic sense, I promise, no one come for me). I think the first time I heard BJ say, "Thank heavens none of us has to stand it alone," I had to pause and fold my hands and stare at the wall. The support all three of them give each other. BJ bringing a cup of comfort and it being passed to Margaret because Hawkeye knows she needs it too. It always makes me sad when people read that as a jealousy moment from BJ when he snuggles down just as close to her and isn't being snippy or annoyed at her presence. He cares them! He cares them both! And such a really lovely way for Hawk and Margaret to continue sinking into each other, to carve out even more level ground between them, ugh. I'm unwell about it. It's so delightful.

It really is so fascinating, returning to this show as adults, huh? It's a completely different experience. There's some grief there because we can still relate to so much of what they're talking or snipping or griping about in our modern, continuously-war-waging era, but also it's absolutely remarkable how timeless it has become. And being able to analyze it now with such depth due to the easy streaming access and the online fan communities, it's incredible. Chef's kiss.

Ranma 1/2- the fact that it made me laugh and be like, uh what, at some scenes again tells me they did this anime right. If i can just ignore those few not so good things, it's still hilarious and interesting and i loved it. Not to mention my old ship of ranma/ryoga came back again. the new anime made me love them even more, and it’s only going to get better as the seasons progress.

that novel's illustrator should be praised and applauded for her beautiful art because the girl is just so insufferable and intolerable. according to these weirdos logic, a celebrated woman author hated women. please get over yourself, in real life too, women are shitty, girls bully other girls, try to come between a couple, sometimes  break marriages, same goes for men. so, yes people will side eye you and ignore you if you rant all fem characters should be praised, because from what i've seen it's this scenario. all straight stories females should be praised even if they are atrocious and if other fem characters in same story are shown as bitch, shrugs.

what are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? i think it’s cool as fuck more writers should use languages nyehehehehehehe. i kinda do it when writing danmei fics because untranslatable terms are fully undodgeable in that one, so.. can't say i've ever complained

what’s your favourite fic you’ve written? and, there’s the question i knew immediately how to answer. where the dog lies is a [tgaa] time travel/massive canon divergence fic, and as much as i’m not tgaabrained right now, i know i will come back to writing it, because it’s genuinely my magnum opus, my best fucking work ever. talking about it as a time travel is true but feels a bit reductive, because in the time travel concept is a hidden character analysis/recovery fic that i’ve legit cried about leaning over the keyboard. something that can be so deeply personal. like i WILL finish it one day once i fall back into the tgaa hole it’s my favourite thing ever that i’ve made as a creative.

the merciless old verities | This is the only work I've done for a prominent ship in my main fandom, so tbh I kind of expected it, but it's a lot of fun! It ballooned quickly away from what I thought it would be and I'm a little scared of it sometimes. You can only write so many death scenes before even that becomes route, y'know?

gonna die in a small town | oh my god I LOVE this one. holy shit. It is my only Stardew Valley fic - I might write more eventually - and it's just a vaguely slice of lifeish romp around how the Stardew villagers would experience my first save file. I love it so much. Eventually I ought to write a sequel.

what's your name? | One of the things that has always bugged me about the acotar world is how quickly Clare Beddor's death is brushed aside, as well as the strange relationship between Feyre and Nesta. So here, I stuck the two things together and killed Nesta instead of Clare. Mostly this focuses on the buildup to the event, but still. A lot on their childhood, too, and pre-canon lore that I wish we got more of in the series. Or maybe not. I don't think I'd trust Maas with that, tbh. It was really important to write, for me, and the response I've gotten has indicated that it impacted others as well. Which is frankly delightful.

if we dreamt of snow | My getting-back-to-writing-fic. My baby. My 117k demon. I love her to bits and pieces. I already cannot reread her without forcefully reminding myself that I swore I would not go back and edit anything, so I could see how (and if) my writing progressed. Honestly I still cannot believe I wrote it.

everything in life is about death | Nesta instead of Clare, the remix. It turns out I had more to say. Or I wanted a different way to say it. This one focuses more on the aftereffects of her death. Could it be better? Yes, but as it is I think it accomplishes what I wanted it to. Surely that means something!

I cannot emphasize enough, I wrote two separate fics in which I killed Nesta and Feyre had a hell of a lot to process about it. It's a toss-up, I think. Probably what's your name?

I cannot, and I do mean cannot, write about people having sex or romantic interactions. It is a struggle every single time. The other part, the intimacy of knowing someone, I think I can do. But the other day I sat down with the goal of writing a cute little f/f story and I instead wrote 6k of an entirely different story that did not, in fact, feature romance at all. I was simply trying to get out the bisexual urge to daydream about women and instead exorcized a demon or something.

Thoughts on writing dialogue in different languages?

I have done this, though rarely, and tried to be as respectful as possible. If I know the language myself I tend to be more confident.

Within me there is something brewing for the Oresteia. I've been thinking about Clytemnestra for so long. Someday I'll write it.

if we dreamt of snow, my forever baby. And kinda hectic inside, because every single time I sit down and try my hardest to channel the 300k enemies-to-lovers we all want to have within ourselves. And then I write something with Mariah Carey blaring. It's so fun, I really recommend listening to "Heartbreaker" while writing banter. Nothing like it!

yes! i try very hard to respond to every comment i get. i love getting comments since i don’t get very many, and i know the amazing feeling of having an author acknowledge you and thank you for your comment, so i try to let people know that i appreciate each and every comment i get!

uhhhhh it’s not done yet, but run (until you feel your lungs bleeding) is gonna be SO angsty hehehe. iwaoi of course. i’m very excited for it. if you want one i’ve already finished, tho, it’ll have to be i know that losing dogs exist, because i bet on them and i am one. sakuatsu, mcd, entirely based on my own experience w a disastrous breakup i had. thank you to king again for being there when i needed it most.

Newmann fic recs - The AU’s

Okay so I've been meaning to do this for awhile but I'll just do it now with no particular plan in mind. I've obviously read a lot of Newmann fic and I've decided to drop some suggestions!

Disclaimer: Please remember to look at the tags on ao3 if you continue onto the link, I'll try to add more tags or description here if I think the ao3 tags leave something out but also read those first to avoid any unwanted content for sure.

These suggestions will all be AU’s I find really interesting or hot or just super fucking creative. I love getting people to read these even if they don’t care about the ship whatsoever because the story is just that fucking good! I think a good AU can hook any reader in.

“Sea Swept” by cypress_tree (11,995 words, 1/1 chapter, rated E)

This was probably one of the first AUs I ever read and every reread has been a delight. Written by one of my favorite fic authors ever, it’s a fun high seas fantasy fic where Hermann is a boat navigator and Newt is the sexy mysterious man that they find lost at sea. If you’re currently drowning in Our Flag Means Death nonsense right now, this is definitely a fun fic to check out.

D=S*T by seabass (6332 words, 1/1 chapter, rated T)

God I am just as obsessed with this fic as I was reading this 4 years ago. It’s weird and eerie and honestly just reads like a particularly strange sci-fi short story. Basic plot is that a hole is found in the desert and it’s weird and Hermann and Newt are two scientists brought out to figure out what the hell it is. I’ve done fanart for this in the past and I should do it again quite honestly, lol.

An Enthralling Holiday Abroad by Jay Auris (nighthawkms) (35,438 words, 13/13 chapters, rated E)

What’s funny is that this will definitely not be the only vampire fic I suggest for readers but it will definitely be the sexiest, dear god. Like, it's sexy for sure but the overall plot and story is super mysterious and cool and it's just a fun read!

Meet Me Across the Water, And We'll Start an Endless Storm by skepticamoeba (35,515 words, 15/15 chapters, rated T)

Oh man, I haven't read this one in awhile but if you want a wholesome lighthouse keeper au, please check this one out! I remember it being very atmospheric and wistful for the most part.

Vow of Silence by blairrabbit (35,686 words, 1 chapter, rated G)

This is less of a total AU as it's still dealing with the main plot of kaiju coming to earth but it's got enough AU elements that I'll include it anyway. GOD I love this fic tho, one of the only soulmate au's I fully jive with and it packs such a punch. Basically, it's a love language soulmate situation, you'll find your soulmate when you both speak and understand your special love language to each other. I like how the fic fleshes out other languages and it's just a really strong look at both their characterizations.

It Was Love at Second Sight by rednights (35,046 words, 3/3 chapters, rated T)

AU where they're just academic colleagues who have the worst first meeting of all time. Ugh, this is a another fic I'll revisit all the time because it's just that damn good. Lots of good pining and good Hermann characterization, probably my favorite depiction of his relationship with his sister.

Ghost: A Romance in Six Seasons by Skull_Bearer (15,255 words, 2/2 chapters, rated M)

OKAY BIG WARNING FOR MAJOR CHARACTER DEATH. As you can see from the tags, Hermann has MS and he meets Newt who's a ghost and just to warn ya, Newt is NOT the major character death in the story. It's cute, it's incredibly melancholic because you see where the story is going but it's still very romantic and again, if you're uncomfortable with major character deaths, I'd probably avoid this. Otherwise, it's cute read if you're in the mood for something sad but hopeful!

The Prince and The Frog by curiumKingyo (5,758 words, 3/3 chapters, rated E)

Man, just a fun, straight-up fairytale au where Hermann's literally a frog who's found by Prince Newton. Also, there's sex once he's, you know, NOT a frog, lmao.

Witchy Hermann series by lazarwolff (multiple fics at 11,315 words, rated G-T)

Oh these are just fun, Hermann's a witch, Newt attracts all sorts of weird creatures to him since he's medium, chaos ensues! I think I'm just a sucker for a fun witch au...

Question: How Many Mathematicans from Cambridge have pen pal working at the biological engineering faculty of the MIT? Answer: Exactly One by JaredKleinman (8,001 words, 1 chapter, rated T)

Lmao what a title. Anyway, this cute non-kaiju universe au has possibly the best use of footnotes I've ever seen. It rivals Pratchett for SURE. Totally fun and definitely rec!!

It's All in the Hands of the Lazy Projector by patster223 (10,589 words, 1 chapter, rated T)

Another light AU where Hermann is cursed and can't remember anything from the day prior so he meticulously writes his day down every day. Naturally this leads him to question whether he's falling in love with this "Newt"....

Cafe of Light by orphan (9,954 words, 1 chapter, not rated)

I know next to nothing about Final Fantasy but still thoroughly enjoyed this fic where Newt and Hermann meet over FFXIV and the rest of the PPDC make appearances. It's not rated but I believe Teen would be fine!

Among Mountains by cypress_tree (27,244 words, 13/13 chapters, rated E)

My favorite dragon kingdom/arranged marriage fic! Super fun, super hot. By the same author as the sailing fic mentioned at the top!

Carcasses Lie Like Lovers by holyverse (13,244 words, 2/2 chapters, rated Teen and Up)

WOO BOY, so this fic knocked me out. If you happen to have watched The Strain, you'll probably like this very gritty vampire hunting fic. I will strongly suggest those who do not like gore or depictions of characters transforming into something inhuman to avoid this one.

Newton Geiszler: Doctor of the Great Unknown by buckgaybarnes (2,698 words, 1/1 chapter, rated M)

I'm going to restrain myself to just one of Maria's au fics and pick the only one I read aloud to a friend during a car trip. Fun and great for those who are into Victorian spiritualism! She has a bunch of other great au's but this has a very fun setting!

It's eventual jangobi, and also a series, and the second part is in progress.

The Weeds in the Wilderness by ealcynn : (T) This one is a WIP as I publish this post, but I still would recommend you give it a go. It has such great worldbuilding, and such an interesting cast of OCs - it's Obi-Wan who doesn't remember who he is, stuck on a planet full of strangers as he tries to remember himself. No ship, just vibes.

For the Right Price by ShaeTiann: (M) This is the Epic. The long read you should try. If you're on the fence about Sith!Obi or Grey!Obi, then I think this fic will probably do a good job at convincing you of the appeal. This is Obi-Wan toeing the line between Light and Dark, making friends, falling in love, making his own path. It's a jangobi masterpiece, who also happens to be a series in progress.

An Elegant Weapon by RomanMoray: (T) Cody wielding a saber. Must I say more? This is codywan, and very dear to my heart. Featuring a Force-sensitive Cody, the inherent eroticism of training your commander in the arts of lightsaber combat, and Cody picking up Obi-Wan's saber - and his heart.

dark magics by savorvrymoment: (E) Oh, so you like both Maul and spicy times? I have just the fic for you: this is a wonderful work, which happened to be my intro into the Obi/Maul rarepair hell. It's got the perfect amount of angst, the perfect amount of tension. Truly perfect.

Don’t be afraid. by spqr: (T) THE FEELS. It's a burgeoning obikin with all the angst, feat. Padawan!Obi and Master!Anakin. Gorgeous, with the fluffy ending we all deserve. A re-read for sure.

i'll orbit your flickering star by sunskippa: (T) If you're looking for a longer codywan read, look no further! This is a great fic that follows the Clone Wars events through the eyes of our dearest Commander, as he falls in love with Obi-Wan. They way Cody is written is lovely: It has no flaw in my eyes.

diogenes (what makes a man?) by someawkwardprose: (T) Codywan, again, because I am in codywan brainrot, always. Also a very, very lovely portrayal of Cody. Also a retelling of the Clone Wars events through Cody's eyes, including his love for his General. I've recently re-read this, and Gods, it's good.

Binary System by Cimila: (E) You know these Open/Ambiguous endings that are somehow both incredibly satisfying and also leaves you just craving some more? Yeah? This is it - Soulmates AU, jangobi, Obi-Wan in the desert with baby!Anakin in tow. It's great. Also Spicy.

Late Night Bounty Call by eltrut07: (E) a/b/o jangobi, anyone? This is a WIP as I'm making this post, but it's being updated still! It's got Omega!Obi and Alpha!Jango hooking up (and falling in love, probably - eventually) during the Clone Wars, and baby Boba being confused. Lovely, lovely - and also spicy.

Honestly anything by glimmerglanger, though especially:

Make Your Bed (Lie in It): (T) Codywan, featuring Cody ending up in his General's bed and Vice-Versa, through the Clone Wars and beyond Order 66.

Currents and Tides: (E) MERPEOPLE! FORBBIDEN LOVE! THE 1940s! It's a codywan two-parter with plenty of snippets attached, and it is a masterpiece.

A Slow Fall Towards Grace: (E) a/b/o, endgame codywan: the angst, the eventual fluff, Obi and his kids. It's rough sometimes, guys, but it ends well.

God, I love to travel, but haven't gotten to do it much lately. But Gozo, Malta was just so, so gorgeous. Hawaii as well. But I also just love so much of the Appalachian Mountains. 1) why did you choose your url?

so i've been through a few different urls in the past, but i ended up settling on this one when i switched over to primarily kotor stuff. the canon "revanchist" url is held by an empty blog, so i took the next best available thing. (my previous url was skywalking-across-the-galaxy and it was chosen exclusively for the pun.)

2) any sideblogs?

i made one as a joke to make in-character sith years revan, malak, and jedi exile in universe social media posts with a couple friends about a year ago. i don't actually do anything with it but it Exists.

3) how long have you been on tumblr?

since early 2016, i think my blog's anniversary is in april? oh god that was a lot longer ago than i want to think about.

4) why did you originally start your blog?

because i had just gotten into the doctor who fandom and i wanted to reach a wider audience with fanfiction. i was 16/17 and brand new to fandom as a group experience and ended up on tumblr after discovering that ao3 existed.

5) why did you choose your icon?

my icon and header change from time to time, when i feel like changing things up a bit, but for quite a while now my icon has been this absolutely stunning portrait of my Revan done by my beloved @stellorc, who is a dear friend and an incredible artist. it is the best piece of art i currently have of my Revan and since she's the main character i focus on and write about these days, i figured she should be the centerpiece! also i just love looking at that art.

6) why did you choose your header?

my header is a color-changed gif from the kotor remake teaser trailer done by @tarrevizsla, with a quote that someone stuck on an edit of the early kotor comics to describe Revan going against the Council to join the war, which has always stuck with me as very appropriate. I Just Think It's Neat and also symbolism.

7) what is your post with the most notes?

uhhhh that's hard for me to tell because my blog is old. a tcw art i commissioned in 2018 is pretty big. a few chat posts i made during my sequels era. the HK-47 locket shitpost i made has just over a thousand and is definitely my largest-note kotor/swtor related post!

8) how many mutuals do you have?

unknown and i'm not going through to count all of them. quite a few. my entire discord server (or the people who talk actively at least). hello beloved tor hell friends. (pspspspsps come join tor hell)

9) how many followers do you have?

2014, somehow. not many of them interact with me. a lot are from my doctor who or tcw days.
