For the critical role ask meme: 15 and 30.
Or, if you want to be spicy: 5 and 11. 👀
Or any combination of the above :)
15: Favorite one-on-one conversation (can be between two PCs, or a PC and NPC).
Caleb and Fjord in episode 62, Domestic Respite. That has been my favorite conversation since I first heard it and it still is. Caleb's "We can remake ourselves into something better" is, to me, the thesis of what the Mighty Nein campaign is about. That is The Ultimate conversation for me.
I do want to shout out Beau and Caleb's one-on-one in episode 57 though, too, because I do genuinely love that conversation and how it so viscerally feels like a turning point in their relationship and the campaign as a whole. Also Beau saying "You don't have to thank me for my time like you're a social worker" and then giving Caleb just a really long awkward hug lives in my head rent free
30: What is your favorite theory or headcanon that has absolutely no bearing on the plot and isn't important at all, but which is completely compliant with canon?
Okay as far as I am aware, this is canon compliant and if it's not don't tell me let me live in it, but it's "Eshteross is Fjord's dad." I have tethered myself to that theory. I am it's cheerleader. The only one who can take this from me is Matt
5: Meta you would write if you did not fear people would be SUPER weird about it. This is also an invitation to write that meta and block the haters.
Oh boy. there's quite a few honestly. But first that comes to mind is an expansion of that very brief (not maintagged) post I made exploring why Imogen has frustrated me as a character and despite wanting to like her, I really just find myself unable to connect with her. In conjunction with this, I think there is something to be said about Imogen and Laudna's relationship holding each other back from developing more. Something about the way they always reach for each feels like a stagnation of their developments that just leaves me wishing we could see them interact with more members of the group more often or to, honestly, see their codependency come up as a topic/be addressed in canon or sever more than it has to date.
It's like you know that conversation Nott and Caleb had in c2e46: Caleb said, "lately, I've gotten a little wrapped up in the group. I've forgotten about us. I've forgotten." And that's an interesting character beat! It'd be something different from the same homogeneity that their relationship has been dawdling in. The rock fight is the most interesting thing that's happened between them and that didn't even get all that heated or really change anything! Like not to abandon all attempts at maintaining a formal discussion on the topic, but I am emotionally poking their relationship with a stick saying "do something already"
okay. that felt good to get out. now ANOTHER THING
Honestly, I feel like a very long meta could be written about the way that fandom had pigeonholed Veth a "Mother" that doesn't actually leave room for her to be a person. I have seen so many people boil down her character to nothing more than a "mom," as if that's a character trait and not just something that she is. Like, yeah, she IS a mom. But "mom" isn't a personality and I don't know why the fandom treats it like one, and then goes so far as to continually behave like Veth is not just Luc's mom but Caleb's too, which she has not only repeatedly said she is NOT, but has openly and canonically admitted to having romantic/sexual attraction to him to the point where I'm like.......what do you think mothers are like? And that's not even about shipping. Shipping goggles are off, friends. That's about ignoring canon and vital character details that contribute to Veth's overall character arc that are willfully forgotten. And man, does that grind my gears.
Okay that's probably enough salt (this got long, sorry) and I can't think of anything off the top of my head for 11, but if something comes up I might add it.
Thanks for the questions!!
Weirdly specific ask meme!

Rewatching The Travelercon arc and First of all Love Artagan so fucking much, but one subtle thing I love is the relationship between Caleb and Artagan.
They both love Jester in their own ways, but unlike some of the Mighty Nein they don't see her as Naive or treat her likea child. They trust her, and her ability to make decisions for herself, and they don't just perceive her choosing to see good in the world as being ignorant to the bad.
Like they way Caleb was more open and less hostile, while still being wary of Artagan because he trusts Jester and her ability not only to choose "good" people, but also how she can take a not so great person and make them better.
And how both of them make all sorts of beautiful Magic for her.
I don't know I just like two Chaotic Gingers who love a blue Tiefling.
Disclaimer for me (not you anon, you're valid and very polite and share my exact feelings), but I value every relationship Jester has with the M9 and Artagan and some tertiary non-Nein members and think they all offer different things for her and could easily be romantic or platonic, so I just wanna get that out of the way, because not liking how everyone handled the Artagan situation does not mean I don't value Jester's relationships with those characters. This shouldn't need to be said and I don't maintag my asks anyway and I'd like to think my blog is a safe space for complex opinions, but, unfortunately, nuance is dead.
Also I don't wanna say one thing and then get a bunch of people either going BUT YOU WRITE FJORESTER!! OR LET ME DISS THIS ENTIRE SHIP/CHARACTER IN YOUR ASKS. Or HOLY SHIT YOU'RE A WIDOJES??? Because we don't do that here. I am a multishipper and a supporter of all characters. I just have favorites.
OKAY WITH THAT OUT OF THE WAY... Boy, TravelerCon was a giant who's who of which party members believe Jester isn't a good read on people (some were projecting way too hard though), and that's all I'm gonna say about that, because even though I damn well knew that Artagan choked a guy to death for fun in Campaign One, I fully trusted his relationship with Jester from the first time he revealed himself. I trusted him more when I knew he was Artagan then I did when I just assumed he was, because, like... For a chaotic being, Artagan is predictable. What could he be using Jester for? He doesn't even like being a god. So I kinda spent that whole arc being OH MY GOD, GET OFF JESTER'S ASS ALREADY? ARTAGAN'S GREAT.
BUT I love how Caleb handled it and I love the very likely WHY he handled it very well. First of all, Caleb has always been a big believer in fairy tales. He cherishes this one story from his childhood where fey are nice and kind and don't steal children from their mothers and showed it to Jester BECAUSE it mirrored her own life (and because he's a victim of the other side of it- Trent isn't fey, but you could rewrite the entire Blumendrei story as a Changeling Tale and barely change a thing). He knows what the VERY thing that everyone else is suspicious of Artagan of looks like and what Artagan is doing is Not That.
Also Caleb recognizes that Jester was a lonely girl who made a fey friend. Isn't that what he did with Frumpkin when he was scared and alone in the world? He sees so many facets of that relationship and that puts him in a unique position to trust Jester AND Artagan.
She loved him when she knew the worst of him, even though he was terrified she wouldn't, and that helped him want to be better, and if she could do that to HIM, who thought he was too far gone, then why couldn't she do it to someone like Artagan?

💔💕 for dr + ut and 🎶 for ut but it has to be an underappreciated one
💔- tell us about one of your LEAST favorite characters and why you dislike them
Man I. Really don't have any characters who I distinctly dislike in either dr or ut. So I will have to go with.I hate to say it. Sans. AND I DON'T EVEN ACTUALLY DISLIKE HIM I THINK HE'S NEAT he's a funny little bone man he's your pal in the computer who sells you hot dogs he's a silly little guy and the no mercy fight is still raw as fuck but I just. Grow so so weary of him being the face of Undertale. I grow so weary of Megalovania overshadowing every other song on the ost. I grow weary of Underfell and errortale and overhack and every other fucking sanscentric kill-em-all edgelord murder au. I grow weary of seeing his skeleton dick out every time I go more then 20 posts deep in an Undertale maintag. I guess at the end of the day it's less that I dislike Sans and more that I despise what the fandom has done with him. How they've massacred my boy.
💕- tell us about one of you favorite characters and why you like them!
YOU ALREADY FUCKING KNOW IT BABEY!!!!! NOELLE FUCKING HOLIDAY LOVE THE TRANSGENDER LOVE THE TRANSGENDEER!!!! She's been my fav since chapter 1 and I love her so much bc I just see so much of myself in her. Specifically in her struggles with autonomy and a lot of what she talks about with fear in ch2, but also just in vibes and in the fact that she's the most transgender character in media ever. Chapter 2 was basically a gift sent down from the heavens for me I was expecting Noelle as a primary character by ch3 at the earliest and oh boy was I pleasantly surprised.
🎶 - favorite song?
Hmmm if we're going with underappreciated stuff then Snowy never gets enough love.... Sets a very very distinct tone after leaving the ruins and entering the world at large. Always makes me feel some kinda way.

Asking because i see you not maintagging more often after the last talks and i only follow a few cr blogs that are amazing so idk but is there drama or a negative discourse after what travis said?
I dont really like drama so i try not see it but ik there usually is one of some kind but i cant see how what travis said would create one of any kind.
Honestly the only people i can see getting upset by it are the "uwu soft boys fjord and cad" and the "the hurt boy deserves the sunshine gf" (im talking about those who are weird about it, they are not my mains but i like those ships)
Oh I’m not sure if there’s any discourse after it. I’ve blocked all the people that say all that stuff, because I didn’t want to see it when I went into the tag.
Most of the reason I decided not to maintag was because I wasn’t sure if there was discourse, but a lot of times when someone says something like that, it can spike again. I don’t actually get a ton of rude anons, but it can start up during times like this.
Also, the other thing is that people like to go off about “Laura bullied Travis into this” or something and when I was talking about her “winning” I knew that would bother some people. Travis doesn’t seem upset about it though! He seems excited! I wish that was a more common interpretation.

I'm gonna do something dumb and write down my feelings on various campaign 2 ships (and I'm not going to maintag this post because holy fuck do I not want to open those floodgates). So here, in no particular order, are my thoughts on the ships that I actually think about from time to time:
Beaujes: okay, if you follow me you probably already know this, but I fucking love Beaujes. The fact that it's founded on a solid friendship, the pining, the way in which both sides potentially embody two quintessential queer experiences, and just the fantastic amount of care they have for each other, how much they obviously enjoy each other's company, how well they balance each other, and just how... I don't know, deep and open their relationship is? I could ramble on the for awhile, but I've written nearly 100k of fic about them already, so if you really want more of my feelings on them, go read that.
Beauyasha: so I was very keen on this ship back near the beginning because hey holy shit, we've got canonical wlws in the party that are flirting. But with Ashley's absences, I never felt like they were getting the groundwork and consistent development that I really liked in my ships, so I kinda lost enthusiasm for it. Since Ashley's return, they've been getting much more of that, but I have a hard time not comparing it to Beaujes - since we're almost certainly only getting one or the other - and finding it wanting. That being said, I still find a lot to like in this dynamic, and as Yasha's nuances get more and more fleshed out and I slowly get a better sense of her interiority, I find myself getting more and more excited for it. So if this ends up canon, I think I'll be plenty happy.
Fjorclay: look, other people have written about this much better than I could, but this is just a really pleasant ship for me. I like their dynamic, I like the way they show affection and devotion to each other, I like how they bring out good things in each other. I'm also partial to the interpretations of Fjord and Caduceus as ace, and I like seeing ace people in love.
Shadowgast: oh boy do I like this one. The parallels! The drama! The slow dance around the danger of developing feelings and the uncertainty of how much they can afford to trust each other! This ship is very much yes.
Fjorester: this one is fine and nice. Obvious there's the inherent sweetness of Travis and Laura, but I also like the fact that, when this was pursues near the beginning of the campaign, it wouldn't have been good, but that it could be now because of a healthy dose of character growth on both sides, appeals to me. The main reasons that this ship doesn't generally draw my interest is a) I have other ships for both characters that I prefer, and b) I strongly suspect that, if this ship becomes canon, we won't get any exploration of the possible queerness of either Fjord or Jester, and that would be a shame.
Widojes: I just don't see the appeal of this one. I don't think there's anything particularly objectionable about it, but it does absolutely nothing to hold my interest in and if itself, nor does it develop either of the characters involved in a direction that interests me.
Widomauk: I basically feel the same about this as I do about Widojest. I don't have anything against it, but it does nothing for me.
Any ship I didn't talk about is basically because I don't interact with them enough to have an opinion on them. So, here ends my aimless thought dump
