My grandma turned 90 a few days ago so most of my family got together and went to the zoo to celebrate. It's the same one she and my grandpa used to take us all to when we were little, and none of us had been back since he died a few years ago. It was a super fun day, and I felt so cute in my @mayakern thistle skirt! so ive been thinking about this au ive wanted to make inspired by the incredible pogd au by @beluvbug for a while !!

this is a very self indulgent au based on pinkie dealing with the conflict of wanting to be taken seriously while also playing themselves down constantly as a way to please others, especially when it come to their identity as nonbinary and their disabilities

i was going to make the first post about this au a little comic but ironically the disabilities have made that a bit hard and i wanted to post something for it

to all trans allies out there: did you hear that someone was trans, but they didnt tell you? don't fucking force them to come out! even if you think you're being nice, theres probably a reason they haven't come out to you yet. just be clear to them that you support them and let them do things on their own time.

i told a school counsellor in no uncertain terms that i did *not* wish to discuss my being queer with him. i felt this way bc ive learned with certain authorities (esp on psychological needs) as soon as i explain that im queer, all of my actual serious mental issues seem to vanish as they try to explain everything with "trauma from being gay in a homophobic household". a lot of my issues are trauma from homophobia, yes, but a lot of them are also trauma from being autistic, having adhd, having bpd, and having shitty parents in general. and yet, one day i went to speak with him and- "so i heard you're going by a different name?"

despite the fact that i made it very clear to him repeatedly that i did NOT WISH TO DISCUSS MY QUEER IDENTITY WITH HIM, he basically peer pressured me into coming out as trans to him. don't do this! even if its 'to be respectful'. just mention, clearly, that you support trans people, in a way that doesnt make the person feel like they have to come out bc you want them to.

Okay so something I've been thinking on for awhile about Opera that I don't think I've ever seen others touch on is that although so far having only ever been referred to with and as They/Them.

By all accounts has been confirmed that Opera doesn't align themselves specifically with any gender, beyonc Non-binary I think an argument could be had of them being (by human labels) Agender perhaps.

At the very least Opera very clearly doesn't seem to be the type to have any specific labels happy to use which ever.

I say this because of the Sukima in which Iruma asks if they are a guy or a girl and seems pretty chill with just being whatever Iruma wants/however Iruma sees them.

Oper really saying my Gender is your choice.

This lending me to believe if someone did happen to use other pronouns beyond They/Them Opera might be okay with it. At the very least seem none to bothered if someone were to just assume a gender and just shrug it off as "Well if ghats what you think guess I am"

Though I suppose it could also depend on the person.

Mostly here to say that while we may say Non- Binary Opera is just Opera and very much gives the vibes of someone who doesn't really subscribe to keeping to any labels.

Also Demons in general seem to be a very you are who you are and probably don't bother much with categorizing folks in the same way we do anyway.

MAAAAN THESE SUKUNA ANALYSES... THEY'RE SO GOOD... I've always related to him super hard just on first readings as a trans disabled person who is an ambulatory wheelchair user. I'm incredibly violent and confrontational, too. If I could just fuckin kill the people who dehumanize me constantly, I mean... that kind of power is tempting! The way you read him is so satisfying to my brain, and it definitely makes sense in the text as well. Overall I'm just really happy to see somebody managing to put into words what I subconsciously grasped the first time I watched and read JJK. I was literally internally like "omg omg omg they put it into words!! omg!!!" the entire time I've been reading these posts. I can't wait to see what other analysis posts you've made and if there's other stuff for fandoms I enjoy. Thanks a lot for what you do! People like me appreciate it so much.

Sukuna is very cathartic for me as a character in that way too. He basically gets to act out where I would restrain myself.

It’s funny that you mention you’re trans. At the risk of tipping the scale to mental illness, I think Sukuna is a very gender character. I find his refusal to introduce himself very relatable. He just kind of lets everyone call him whatever. The only time he ever identifies himself is when not doing so could put in his life in danger.

That’s it. “I’m the Fallen/Disgraced One”. I don’t believe he ever refers to himself as a man either. He just uses a masculine speaking style.

I also like how he doesn’t seem to care about being associated with feminine things. The marketing leans into this for some reason, pairing him up with Hello Kitty, which I think is great.

He projects this “I’m too strong to care about gender” aura I’m obsessed with. It might stem from his dehumanization as well. Both himself and other people are not really sure if he’s a curse or a human, so why on earth would he outwardly identify as man? It's not like curses have genders to begin with.

But the moment anyone tries to concretely observe him, like Mahito or Yuji touching his soul, he flips out. That really captures the vibe of “acknowledge my existence, but do not perceive me.” And if you find that relatable you should read Umineko.

Sukuna is on the border of everything, so he reads like an allegory for multiple minority groups all at once.

He’s masculine in his presentation, but isn’t considered human enough to be called a man. That’s very trans of him.

He’s extremely ablebodied at a glance, but his abnormal features make normal day to day life a constant battle. That’s very invisibly disabled of him.

He may be Japanese by blood, but he’s deemed a monster and pushed out from society for not meeting certain physical features. That’s very biracial of him.

Love the idea of Outsider being higher but not the highest deity. And who is the highest one, you may ask me? The Void! Just the eldritch god, as old as the time itself, lonely and eager to communicate. But along with that Its only touch is deadly for mere mortals, as It's a pure havoc that will absorb the very soul of the one It's communicating with. 

Corvo describes the Void as an “endless cold”, Daud says that the Void feels like “if you cried for help but no one answered”. And for them it's true but for the eldritch one it's the form of communication. A love language. It lets you roam inside freely and It expects you to let It do the same, let It roam inside of you. Cup your soul in Its improvised hands to hold just for a moment, to study, to feel your emotion, to live through your memory. To show you some love in Its term, to do the softest thing It can do!

And who knows maybe this communication was the main goal of whoever created Outsider. But as time went by, this goal was lost and forgotten. So here It is and here is Outsider, both so old and not even sure how much of them was inherently theirs and how much they have absorbed from each other.

i was JUST thinking about oren when this showed up omg. yea ofc i'll respond immediately LMAOOO. i love oren one of my favorites fr. anyway yea.

-he's a mix of an alien and ladybug, and actually shows more alien traits than ladybug. the wings on their back aren't actually real, he just wears them to appear more like a bug.

-while him and simon are both pretty likeable, oren tends to be more favorable since, while simon is usually upbeat and loud, oren is pretty chill and goes with the flow most of the time. he's also very aware of other people's limits, and so doesn't try to push others to put up with stuff that they can't.

-he is autistic and doesn't exactly hide it, but he's usually pretty low needs. his headphones double as noise-cancelling headphones, and he stims - actually his kick drum noises do double as a vocal stim too.

-him and simon are the autism adhd brothers LMAO. fr tho they're not related but they have an almost brother-like relationship with each other.

-oren does like bunnies, which is already canon information, however i'll say that that WASN'T the reason he started dating pinki! he genuinely liked how kind and caring she was and fell hard as a result. he definitely fumbled when confessing since he wasn't too used to romantic feelings like that but she found it endearing and they've been dating since.

-he's the kinda boyfriend that only their girlfriend gets them flustered and out of their element. he's usually super chill until pinki displays any sort of affection, at which point they're a blushing mess.

-they're sensitive to electricity interferences like static or those low droning noises some machines make, another reason for the headphones, however their antenna do catch the noises too at times. it's partly why they don't hang out with clukr and garnold and their family.

-they were one of the only ones that not only noticed simon's bizarre behavior initially, but was also very concerned. it may be one of the reasons blackhat and wenda targeted him first.

-wenda kidnapped oren and tied them down on a table, where she promptly cut into his chest and started digging into him, trying to find proof that he was either real or fake, which she made perfectly clear to oren. he ended up dying in the middle of it, but was reanimated by blackhat. once it was "confirmed" that what blackhat was saying was true, wenda went insane and started taking out her anger and desparation on oren's body, performing an autopsy on him and messing with his organs, all while shouting at him for not being real. oren, still freshly reanimated and confused as to what was happening, couldn't really do much but take it.

-wenda's attack on oren not only affected him physically, but mentally as well. the amount of trauma done to his body caused pressure in his skull to the point of making him go blind and popping multiple blood vessels. his ribs have also been pulled out of place from wenda in her frustration. since oren wasn't fully back when he was reanimated, the trauma left him in a confused and delirious state, with most of his memories being. halted. ig is the word. wenda unintentionally drilled into his head that he wasn't real, and so he frequently dissociates in his current state, even spacing out for hours on end to the point that he looks like a lifeless corpse again. the only sign of life being his exposed organs, which do still attempt to function normally - albeit in an haphazard way.

-oren's heartbeat glowing actually is just a normal thing it does, it's just exposed now. this is unique to oren, due to his alien traits.

-he will not respond to the name oren due to losing a good chunk of his memories in his brain fog, you'd have to grab his attention in other ways, if you can even get it to begin with. he'll also not recognize pinki, especially now that her face is gone.

-blackhat loves controlling his body specifically, in part due to his brain fog making it easy to do so, but also he does it to torment pinki specifically. oren is "technically" aware while he's being controlled, however due to his brain fog he may not actually realize persay.

So ! My ocs. I guess I'll do an overall explainer for the overall groups. If you check out my Toyhouse (LINK!) there's a bunch of folders up top that are how I categorise them. It's primarily by universe except for the folders that are just "misc."

So folder 1: Blatant favouritism:

These are silly little guys that don't fit in any specific wider universe, but I really really like. So I'll spotlight the two important ones before i get real in the weeds with my main universe.

In here are notably, my Fursona (self explanatory), Ali and Pittsburgh Cincinnati. There's also Hauntkit and Clearpelt who are warriorcats ocs that *is dragged away by airport security*

... So, Pittsburgh, lovingly sometimes called pissbug, is a weird little Thing who I made as like, an homage to characters like happy bunny and Sweetypuss. She (and her weird dog) exist to stand next to strange and offputting captions. I love her. No further context. She's just silly. and violent.

Now. Ali.

Ali Alighieri has thoroughly stolen the show, and also ties into the next folder along, Making Your MK.

With over a hundred extra images compared to second place (Sorry, Tabitha). Ali is my fucked up little scrunkly. My little baby guy. They're a shared character of mine and @samhainian's, and is from their Creature Feature setting (A modern fantasy setting wherein Cryptids and Magic are real but in our modern world.) They are as such, a modern human young adult... Who is also a demon + magic user.

Strange little pansexual altersex genderqueer poetry-nerd that they are... The modern setting also means they are literally just a tumblr user. A fellow countryman, so to speak.

HOWEVER.... Ali's true origin was in *Purrgatorio*, a scrapped visual novel of mine set in the MYMK universe! They were simply retrofitted into CF as the joke with Purrgatorio was that a regular human had mysteriously just shown up in MYMK's pure-furry setting.... And then when we scrapped the project we got all attatched to our little not-so-blank-slate protagonist. But I'll put a pin in Purrgatorio for later.

Making Your MK.

Okay so here's the big one. The setting with.... (looks at spreadsheet) 109 characters not including so-called incidentals. At time of writing.

MYMK is home to... Multiple stories. As you would hope when a setting has 100+ characters. I'd wager each story has about 10-20 relevant characters tops but with a big shared universe like this there gets to be overlap between casts!!! Yay !!! 😊😊😊

MYMK is the name of the main story in the setting. Pronounced "Making your Mark", it is centered around Markus Felidae (The purple one) and their family. It's very action-adventure-y. It's also the plot I'm most secretive about the backend of since I WILL!!!!! Turn it into a nice prose story with pictures SOMEDAY!!!!! But for now tee hee hee secrets secrets. Markus' family is strange and ragtag and is keeping something from them... I can't ramble on too long here unless further prompted in asks about specifics but!!! Everyone in the MYMK folder has a fully furbished little profile with a blurb about them. So if you're curious....

But yeah, I tend to think of the MYMK setting more in terms of its Locations than its Casts, due to the overlapping nature of them all. The Malbranche may be the villains of the main plot, but they're also major players in relation to The Palsgrave who are the antagonists of Moraine, etc etc,

The country everything in MYMK is set in is called New Orphidian, Southern hemisphere little thing, here's a very cartoony map of it.

Cliffside is situated on a big ol' Cliff.

A tiny hamlet of a place, it used to have reason to exist, and now does not. It's not even a good tourist locale, as the cliff is much too dangerous compared to the nicer tourist spot of Welkin just a little north. Not to mention nearby Moraine's allure as a tax haven with no labour laws place where a bunch of TV and Movies are filmed!

It's where most of MYMK's main cast reside (except the antagonists from the Big City Varmonte), and is as such a location I have a lot of tiny little worldbuilding thoughts about :)

I won't go into the other locations here just because then this post will SUPER get away from me but... I think most importantly for Cliffside right now...

Is that it's where Purrgatorio is set. Yes, that VN I said got scrapped. It's not dead. It is in fact serving it's original intended purpose as "A (mostly) noncanon exploration of character voice and setting"

It's back and its prose babeyyyyyyy!!! (A BUNCH OF THE EARLY STUFF IS ME BEING SUPER RUSTY ... BE WARNED)

Purrgatorio is currently the most publicly available coherent work I have out of my ocs! It's very low-stakes and serves mostly to bash my toys together and see what character dynamics come out, but you can look if you want to!

(There's also a whole THING on the meta of its Canonicity... It's not canon, but it's also not NOT canon. But if I talk about Metanarrative Timeline Collapse in my normal mundane non-magic setting im gonna sound bonkers ✌)

Ali's dynamics with the MYMK cast are so goddamn funny to me. Like I literally just handed my OCs some ET shit but ET is a sexually repressed tumblr user with a mood disorder.

But yeah I don't think I can coherently string together much more about MYMK without just actually explaining THE WHOLE PLOT.... Though I will absolutely elaborate on any given character's Whole Deal if i'm prompted. (OH MY GOD I DIDNT EVEN TALK ABOUT CHROME AND TABITHA. WAIT. OKAY THERE'S. OK NO IF I TALKED ABOUT THEM IT'D JUST END UP AN ESSAY ,SORRY..)

and Monster of the Week... Is currently being revamped! It used to be a modern world setting with hidden magic, now it's going to be more... Adventure Time-y. Fantasy world get iphone. Yknow. It has a lower Age Rating than MYMK's "anything goes", as it started as a Pitch Bible Project in my animation class. They're a little neglected but I still love them :) The revamp is extemely recent and not reflected in any of the art/writing yet but I'm workin on it. It still doesn't have a proper title..... OTL

So yeah!! Uh. This wasn't as comprehensive as I was hoping but it turns out I have way, WAY too many thoughts on my guys. And no idea what to do when im actually asked about them so !!!! This was not a very coherent ramble but it was a ramble !

There's things like essays on Chrome and Tabitha (Link) and also The Queer Gender Identities Of The Whole Cast (Link) hiding around on my toyhouse, and once again, Purrgatorio (Link) serves as my sandbox for playing with how these characters act in situations.

But..... ! I did try to make my toyhouse approachable for the average layman. Every character in the MYMK folder (Link) has a *blurb* of information, rather than a giant wall of text explaining everything about them. I want people to be able to understand their general vibe at a glance rather than be overwhelmed.

In any case ???? Uh. Fun game for everyone: If you know your homestuck classpect, every single MYMK character has a classpect and lunar sway. and a birthday. Try and find your andrew-hussie assigned kin! As a Prospitian Witch of Heart, I share my classpect and lunar sway with Chrome. No I don't know what this means. It worries me honestly he's kind of an asshole.
