I feel like I might have propagandized in the prev question a bit. I don't have much to say other than I still cry during that opening scene, seeing him be abandoned and then no one rescuing him?? Like come ON, look at himmmmmm! I would have in a heartbeat. (I also had a beloved orange cat, Rosie, at the time, so ofc I would have lol) Anyway, I still haven't read Oliver Twist, where I believe OG Oliver might be the more qualified orphan? But I grew up with O&C, it's a beloved favorite of mine, I still love the soundtrack to this day, idc if other people didn't care for it or outright hated it. The nostalgia is inescapable. I am the Rosa Diaz B99 meme: "I've only had [Oliver (& Co)] for a day and a half, but if anything happened to him, I would kill everyone in this room and then myself." He's my silly lil guy, he's an orphan, he deserves to be in at least round one lol.

Recording Updates

Recording for [Podfic] In Durance Veil is completed! Hooray! I just need to give it (hopefully) one more listen through for the remaining chapters, do any last minute edits, then get them posted!

I really, really loved this story. Obvs, reading the og first was a joy. Mikkeneko’s sense of humor is fantastic. Each character gets their moment to shine. These are the stories I live for.

For me, narration is like bonus fun. I especially love when authors give me little opportunities for special effects, such as the background whispers in chapter 7 of In Durance Veil. Or, the more common flashbacks/inner thoughts, the system’s “voice,” multiple voices talking at once… ect. It makes the re-read engaging in a new way.

I also love when authors really lean into the comedic side of storytelling, which is probably why SVSSS is my favorite MXTX novel and why I am creating podfics in the SVSSS fandom. I love this story’s particular blend of comedy and drama and the truly tragic-when-you-really-think-about-it roller coaster of emotions created by MXTX with this cast of characters. I like a little comedic relief in the midst of tragedy. It’s a complicated feeling.

I also just really need a laugh. 

Because life.

On that note, I’m excited to announce that I am putting a new oneshot to podfic on the project list: A Flaw in the System, by CheckersXIV, which is a SVSSS/B99 fusion. Truly comedy gold. I’ve wanted to podfic this story for a while, and I’ve probably read it 10 times through at this point.

We are truly blessed by the fanfic authors in this fandom.

Quasimodo (The Hunchback of Notre Dame)

When he's four, the disabled Quasimodo is abandoned in Notre Dame and Frollo, an orphan himself (I think he's 18 at this point ?) already raising his baby brother himself, takes him in, and makes him Notre Dame's bell ringer once he's grown

Hello! I don't know if you remember me, but some time ago I told you that I was watching HTGAWM. Such an amazing TV show, I'm speechless. I literally spent my entire week off watching it and I have no regrets. The best vacation ever! My dude we are talking about works of fiction. If I want to view all characters as gay then I am allowed to do that. It is not stopping you from viewing those characters in another way.

Having said that, I do actually have many straight ships. My OG ship is Mr Darcy/Elizabeth Bennet. They will always be very dear to me. I have a big soft spot for Ben/Leslie in Parks and Recreation and Amy/Jake on B99. I had an obsession with Baz Luhrman's Romeo + Juliet and Moulin Rouge as a teen. That's all just off the top of my head.

But really it's nuts that you care so much that the ships I tend to go hardest about are wlw ships that usually aren't canon (or aren't canon yet). We all just like what we like.
