People hate krs!Cale???

TLDR; People don't hate krs!Cale. Some people think og!Cale fans do (they don't). They hate og!Cale because of it.

I just recently remembered about a reddit post asking about 'why do people hate krs!Cale just because of og!Cale?' and just… wow. I checked and it's deleted now and thank goodness.

It was 10 months ago so you can tell what they said stuck with me. Not in a good inspirational way, as in it was like a parasite that wouldn't leave and kept filling me with rage because of how wrong it was.

To summarize, it was basically saying that "og!Cale fans are hating on krs!Cale just for their own agenda, krs!Cale did nothing wrong, the soul swap was consesual, why does og!Cale even have fans?"

Almost everyone in the replies was like 'I didn't know people liked og!Cale' or 'People hate krs!Cale??' but I noticed one person pointed out that op was a mdzs fan. They were basically saying that op was projecting the stanwars of 'Wei Wuxian vs Jiang Cheng' of the mdzs fandom into tcf. Honestly they were rude, but they had a point.

(For context, mdzs is a popular book. In it's story, the main character that people love, Wei Wuxian, has some conflicts with a character people are divided about, Jiang Cheng. And in the mdzs fandom, WWX stans hate JC, JC stans don't hate WWX but WWX stans feel like they do just because JC stans defend JC. So it's almost always a stanwar there.)

Tbh, I always felt that there were people in the fandom who don't like og!Cale or don't like even mentioning him. Every so often, I'll see someone invalidating his experiences, him as a character, or people's love for him. Like "(character) didn't do anything wrong to ogcale", or "What did ogcale actually do", or "I'm sick and tired of ogcale stans and fics". I ignored it, people are entitled to their opinions no matter how much I disagree or think they're wrong I don't care to confront them.

But that reddit post was what basically confirmed for me/convinced me that some people feel insecure because of og!Cale. They subconsciously think og!cale as a character and people's love for him automatically makes krs!Cale "someone who stole ogcale's identity and isn't actually Cale and doesn't deserve everyone's love for him as Cale". You know, they think that's what og!Cale fans think.

I'm one person so I can't speak for everyone but I don't think anyone actually thinks that about krs!Cale.

I don't wanna invalidate people's experiences in the fandom, especially since I don't have concrete proof of what that reddit post said because it's deleted and i blocked everyone who said stuff like this: "(character) didn't do anything wrong to ogcale", or "What did ogcale actually do", or "I'm sick and tired of ogcale stans and fics". So there will most definitely be people who will question ME about these experiences and say it didn't happen.

But I don't think anyone hates krs!Cale because of og!Cale. If they do, they don't represent the entirety of og!Cale fans and you don't have to hate og!cale as a character because of it.

Krs!Cale and og!Cale isn't a stan war. It never was, it never should be. It's not Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian.

It's not rocket science. Everyone in the replies of that reddit post didn't know people were hating on krs!Cale because people AREN'T hating on krs!Cale.

+++to that one specific person who here on tumblr who hates on authors who writes fics of ogcale doing krs!Cale things like saving the world and being loved, click off. Don't like, don't read. You know how easy it is to mute users on ao3? You know how easy it is to exclude ogcale as a character in the filters? You know how easy it is not be rude to people who people who are just minding their own business?

Random Unpopular Opinion

Sometimes I wish, og!cale would just could leave everything and everyone behind for a time...or forever. Or have an amnesia for a time or...also forever. I'm trying to find a some point in canon when or where he did things for himself. Not for others, even for his family. Just himself. For such a background character, his relationships are complex but also exhausting. But since he is not the hero, we all just get crumbs and unfortunately, that leads a lot of theories about him (and his immediate groups). If he doesn't yet need an in-lore and canon competent therapist, he also needs a long and relaxing vacation. And yeah, I'm sure KRS would love to hang in that vacation too. o

The other day I had this weird dream where, in a timeline where the Soo's, somehow and for some reason, stopped the plaza terror incident— pretty much with no casualties. And then, like a week later or so, the king or Alberu (or any royalty, not sure who) gathered the nobles and other people related to the matter on the palace.

Here's when things start to... happen, I guess?

Turns out, between the people there was a really angry noblewoman who went straight to the king to ask for divorce of her husband. Not really sure what the guy did, but he was also there and he was kind of a jerk, so... Fair.

Zed, for this time in the right, tried to explain that 'yes, he can get them divorced, but right now was not the time for it'.

—It didn't worked.

The woman was really mad and indignated and the jerk of the husband wasn't helping. Obviously, the situation escalated.

The discussion turned into yells, which turned into them throwing things and a random woman (seriously, who was this? a mistress, maybe?) joining the jerk. Food was launched, Antonio Gyerre almost got a fork at the eye and, by the end of all this, Choi Han had a chicken wing on his hair (that was Choi JungSoo, actually).

After they got them separated, the jerk ended up being held by the guards for some reason (I think he threw a knife, but I'm not sure. It could had been Raon). The woman stomped off the room, being followed by a distressed maid holding a baby.

Five minutes later, Cale Henituse entered through the door, looking really confused. He glanced at all the people covered in food, at the man being picked like a naughty cat by the guards and at the spoon tangled in the king's beard. He tilted his head.

"What happened here."

And, instead of answering him, Bassen asked, "hyung-nim, what are you carrying there?"

Slowly, Cale moved the bunch in which he had his coat wrappled in his arms. He pulled off a piece of fabric a bit, showing a pair of litte hands to Bassen.

"—!!"

"Some crazy woman threw this baby at me at the hallway. Literally."

Then I woke up and now I don't know what happened later with og!Cale and his accidentally acquired baby. I mean, besides that he kept her, obviously.

This one is an AU where Kim Dokja was Kim rok soo’s older cousin- In this AU after krs’s parents died he was put with his uncle- kdj’s sh*tty dad- and stayed with them for a few years. Kdj and krs’ age gap is like 7 years or so. Krs and Lee sookyung are close and krs sees kdj and her as his own mother and older brother.

When krs was around 8, kdj’s dad came back drunk and ordered him to grab him a beer, when he came back he saw kdj stab his dad and kind of stepped back in horror (he’s 8) and just watched silently, and he saw the whole thing, after lsk convinced kdj that she was the one who killed the guy he kind of came out from behind the wall and pretended that  she was the one who killed him. 

When the police came he played along with lsk’s story and tried to calm kdj.  After that, they had the funeral and krs was sent off to the orphanage because he wasn’t related to kdj’s relatives (I’m not sure how this AUs family tree is).

For the whole apocalypse bit, maybe most of Korea was stuck in the scenarios while the rest was stuck with the monsters from lout of the counts family. Maybe the constellations were watching the outside part of Korea but the star stream was testing something about how popular it would be, it was quite popular among cheap constellations who because they can’t give coins even if they wanted too.

Maybe krs knew that kdj was in the closed of part of Korea that nobody could get into no matter what they tried and gave up on finding him, sure he was dead and he would never see his hyung again.

Maybe KimCom ended the scenarios when the rest of Korea has kind of calmed down, after the transmigration and krs/og!cale met lsk in the hospital and she brought her to where kdj was lying in a coma and he didn’t understand at all. The three of them were finally reunited but one of them wasn’t him.

Setting: Jour’s funeral

Cale shouldn’t cry…

No matter how much he wants to… He shouldn’t…

It wasn’t that it would ruin their reputation with all these lowly bugs people around, since his father was crying along with many others.

It was actually because people would try to use him once he starts crying. Also because he would never be able to stop crying.

Nobles would try to take advantage of his weakness since kids are oh so gullible. They would try to get close to him and not his father because they believe he would be easier to use. Then they’ll try to make him a puppet or use him to get close to the count.

He can’t let that happen!

No matter how hard it is, he’ll just have to keep holding it back.

He could just cry all he wants when he gets back home.

He could just-

“Look at him, he isn’t even crying.”

"Is he not sad?"

"How could he be so insensitive?"

“Such a cold hearted child.”

"I pity the late countess.”

“Yeah! I feel bad for the count and the late countess for having to raise such a cold hearted child.”

Cale lightly bit his lips as he tried to tune out the whispers of the servants and nobles that came to the funeral.

He wanted to say that it wasn’t true. 

He also wanted to cry.

He wasn’t cold hearted.

Such thoughts filled his head as he tried to hide his discomfort from the piercing gazes that was aimed towards him.

He wished this could end faster.

(I was about to fall asleep but this idea popped up in my mind. It turned out better in my head…sorry for tainting your eyes)

I have so many imaginations centering og!cale in my mind. There's the;

Personally, I think that Og!Cale's perfect futuristic/sci-fi weapon wouldn't be a sort of gun, but rather something like whatever Gogo Tamago has on her feets.

He would slide and twist around, pretending to be figure skating. Then, passing near a distracted enemy, spin faster and faster and— BAM.

High speed kick to their face.

He still can get a gun with it tho. It also would be great along with a whip or similar.

The lemon teas were meant as a way to tease og!cale and krs!cale at first. Since ron thought it was funny that the "disrespectful young master" would obediently drink his least favourite tea as long as ron was the one serving it.

And it's a stretch to say ron loved og!cale, but he saw og!cale grieve his mother and comfort his father. He was able to empathize because his own wife and sons mother had died before they ran to the henituse county. The book was inaccurate in a lot of the familial descriptions, ron cared for cale even if he didn't prioritize him over his own life and went on to travel with choi han because of arms reappearance

However after krs!cale literally saved the world and gave the molans a chance to rebuild their life, their relationship changed as well.

Now ron uses the lemon tea to scold cale more than to tease him. The assassin doesn't show it but he genuinely cares about krs!cale, he himself said that the molans repay their debts a hundred fold, and wants what's best for him.

Seeing krs sacrifice his health over and over again for this war is stressful for any caretaker to watch, ron uses the lemon tea as a way to keep cale in check and to make sure he's mentally still okay.

If krs suddenly changed the way he views lemon tea, it would be a cause of concern for ron, and an easy sign that something isn't right with krs!cale.

Having something routine with the people you care about is a very easy and simple way to connect with them when they aren't the talkative type

A new understanding of cale’s character

cale henituse is a depressed bastard (we kind of been knew) am currently rereading the novel, so this time I noticed a tea symbolism, where the after the first time ron gave cale lemon tea and he drank it life's kind been giving cale lemons ever since. so of course it got me thinking more about the relationship between cale and ron and find that it would be interesting to study.

what kim rok soo observed of the relationship between og!cale and him was that ron didn’t have any particular like for cale, so could he as cale also operate under that or..?

You guys ever think about how funny it is that the whole reason why Cale did not have try at all to impersonate the original Cale, was because no one actually knew anything about him, despite the fact that everybody knew about him? On an international scale, even??
