For me, the whole of the Task Two chapter from "Lightning Bolts and Capture Weapons" will live untethered in my mind. From the panic of the opening, the dread of realizing who's been taken, the grim determination and anger in all of the champions, Cedric's "fuck off" to Bag, Harry being a total BAMF, Hizashi jumping straight into hero mode, and then everyone just leaving as soon as everyone is accounted for. It's a phenomenal chapter from start to finish.

I do really love the second task even though it was kind of a bitch to write (and the fallout has been even more so I can assure you). It’s such a big pivotal moment where the kids realize all at once that not only are they not safe (which the dragons had been a pretty big clue for that anyway) but neither was anyone they cared about. They realized just how much the people running the game were prepared to take from them even if they claimed there were “failsafes” in place that none of the hostages were in “real danger”. And that’s the moment they realize they won’t it stand.

I really like this one, not only because I'm pleased to see Hilmes feature but because of the composition. The shadowy, mad-looking Gotarzes, whose mind was addled by the influence of sorcery. Osroes, whose eyes betray the inhuman decision he made about the child he raised as his son and pretended to love. Andragoras, with darkened eyes, looming over Hilmes in the foreground. Of them all, Hilmes is the only one whose eyes are clearly visible/drawn normally, and even then it feels symbolic that his right eye is partially obscured on his burned side.

The dark and bloody history of the Parsian royal family literally looming behind him, its mark left on his face. I hope he can break free of it.

I reread the scene in CW&LB where they’re at the World Cup and Hizashi has to go through the wards and. Oough. I am so dead from this scene.

Just. The fact that they love Harry so much that they were willing to go through intense panic and pain just because they wanted them to? The emotional turmoil they endured just to do so? I am living for it.

They love Shouta with everything they have, but Harry somehow manages to be even more loved than that. Hizashi will go through that a million times just for Harry, and I love that so so so much.

Anyway I am so unwell about Hizashi and Harry

Hizashi and Harry's relationship in CW&LB is so important to me.

Because there was always going to be a close relationship between Harry and Shouta, always going to be that distant blood relation and the fact that Shouta was the one that saved him, but in Harry's mind Hizashi was the first person to truly chose him.

And in turn Hizashi saw this sad kid that reminded them so much of both their own childhood and Shouta's and decided that they would do anything for him. Would give him anything in their power. Would bring down the very stars themselves if Harry only asked for them.

So you could say I am also incredibly unwell about Harry and Hizashi
