I've heard smoking can harm the effects of estrogen, does this apply to nicotine in general or just smoking?
thank you so much for asking this question, this is an extremely important matter to discuss! smoking while taking estrogen HRT is highly discouraged for 2 reasons.
the first is that smoking (nicotine) has been shown to completely neutralize and eliminate the effects of estradiol altogether:
Tumblr media
nicotine reduces the amount of circulating estrogen one has in their system, which can lead to menopause in many individuals.
Tumblr media
the second reason is that smoking nicotine can increase risk of life threatening clotting disorders like stroke, heart attack and pulmonary embolism:
Tumblr media
many folks are not informed of the fact that estrogen hrt can cause increased risk for pulmonary embolism and heart complications- this is why it's vital to make sure you get testing done by a professional to make sure what levels will be safe for your body, or what complications you may face if you have blood clotting or heart issues.
i can't find too many studies that disseminate different types of tobacco usage (chew, vape, patches, etc.) but it does in fact seem like the nicotine itself, no matter how it's administered, greatly affects one's estrogen levels.
overall, i would say it would be best to completely quit using nicotine if you are planning going on estrogen HRT. not only will you see more of the effects you're looking for, but you'll feel better in general, and have a way reduced risk of stroke and heart attacks. there's little to no point in taking a medication that will become completely useless once administered. i had a problem with smoking cigarettes for a while and i wish you the best if you do, yourself.
i hope this information has been helpful, thanks for stopping by! good luck out there

In this photo from November 2011, I'm 43 years old, it has already been 8 years since I started my feminizing hormone treatment and 5 years since I underwent my sexual reassignment surgery in the clinic of a magician, doctor Supporn in chonburi.

The funniest thing about the 'soyboy' meme is that, while the effects of phytoestrogens on male fertility is still a matter of dispute, there are far more actual oestrogens in livestock, especially in those which are treated with hormones (particularly, beef cattle) or given feed treated with animal manure.
So really, if some insecure alpha-male gymbro wanted to avoid being 'feminized', he should go vegan.

After making it through perimenopause and menopause, people's mood and cognition tend to stabilise — yet oestrogen levels remain low. Why is this? For the most part, our brain will adjust to lower oestrogen levels, and many symptoms will ease. But for some women, this new normal might make them more vulnerable to neurodegenerative conditions. For instance, two-thirds of Australians with dementia are women. No-one knows for sure why that is, but one theory points the finger at oestrogen. One of oestradiol's benefits is it has a protective effect on the brain, so take it away and you might increase brain inflammation — something that's implicated in conditions such as Alzheimer's disease, Dr Gurvich says. "But this is more of a hypothesis at the moment, and an area that's really just starting to be uncovered."

gender fluid person who doesn't realize they're a shapeshifter because of a lack of information on the experience an only just having come out of the closet.
trans guy who doesn’t realize he’s turning into a werewolf because he assumes it’s all just normal side effects of starting testosterone

I know this is only personal experience but I wanted to add. Ive been out a long time, I know a lot of trans people, Im very active in my local trans community. Theres about even numbers of ppl on/wanting E and wanting/on T of about 10-20 ppl in each group. About 50-75% of the ppl on E are doing so DIY including my gf. comparatively, of the ppl I know on T, 1 person isnt prescribed. And that 1 person has 3 bottle of T gel that were given to him multiple years ago (now out of date) from a prescription. He cannot get more, Ive tried to find methods to share prescriptions but that involves teaching him how to inject it, we dont know anyone else on gel and trying to find resources is like pulling teeth. My gf can go to a pharmacy abroad and just buy several months worth of tablets no big deal (i mean, its not exactly cheap but its not completely ridiculous either). It is easier. It doesnt mean trans women arent oppressed bc they can get hormones easier.
All trans peoples reproductive rights are under attack, and it is not easier for trans fems to get on hrt
it actually is bc testosterone is a controlled substance. you can get estrogen on the grey market, not easily but you can do it. you cannot do that with testosterone. the legal consequences for having testosterone without a prescription are more severe than with estrogen, and you can even lose your right to vote if charged with a felony.
y'all seem to think that in order for trans women to have their oppression be seen as valid they have to have it worse in all situations, and that is simply not true. trans women are not privileged over trans men simply because testosterone is harder to get than estrogen.
