Ode To L’Manberg: It’s Not Your Time to Die

Here is the third work in my series presenting story of L’Manberg in my main DSMP au (Symphony of Gods and Dreamers). The lore dumps I have posted about this au can be found under the “Zorishy’s Bursona Lore” tag.

This poster covers the events of the New L’Manberg/Exile arc.

AU specific details:

• Tubbo gets a custom green L’Manberg uniform

• Dream manipulates Tubbo into exiling Tommy by framing him for helping wilbur blow up L’Manberg

• after Tommy’s exile is announced, Technoblade tries to attack Tubbo, fights and scars Quackity, and then runs off

• Butcher army never finds Techno

• Techno arrived on the SMP in the Technoplane

• Ghostbur doesn’t get his stab wound until the first revival attempt

• Fundy has been aged down, he’s around 3 here

• Wilbur actually has a grave!

•Tommy successfully kills himself by jumping off the tower

• Dream revives Tommy after he jumps off the tower

I always had that dream (L’manberg) like my daddy before me (Antarctic Empire), so I started writing songs (Ode to L’manberg), I started writing stories (L’manberg era in general) Something about that glory just always seemed to bore me (SMP Earth, L’manberg) ‘cause only those I really love (OG L’manbergians) will ever really know me (cut to Pogbur)

7 years by Lukas Graham except it’s a timeline of cWilbur dsmp that fades into qWilbur qsmp at the very end with a flashback to dsmp. Yes I know cWilbur and qWilbur are different characters but PLEASE hear me out on this

Imagine Jack, or Tommy, or even Wilbur passing through the SMP and hearing their chorus from far away and going to see the people sing in unison. Imagine Ranboo hearing the Ode for the first time….

i am once again asking for the entire dsmp fandom to listen to An Ode to L’manberg by Beetlebug because it holds so much nostalgia. sitting there in August-ish, watching the first animatics come out. you had to really search for them, unlike now. this was one of the first ever fan-made songs and it’s unironically so special. please guys. guys please. yt version for those without spotify: x

Ode To L’Manberg: My Unfinished Symphony

I’m back with the second work in my series presenting story of L’Manberg as written in my main DSMP au (Symphony of Gods and Dreamers). The lore dumps I have posted about this au can be found under the Zorishy’s Bursona Lore tag.

This poster covers the events of the Manberg vs. Pogtopia arc.

AU specific details in this poster:

Fundy has been aged down

Sally burned the flag and delivered Fundy’s “You had a dream and I followed it” line

Tubbo escaped the Manberg festival without being executed

Technoblade had no involvement in L’Manberg during this arc, only Pogtopia

Dream also had no involvement in this arc

Dream already had the revival book before the events of the server

Wilbur was badly injured in the explosion of L’Manberg and Phil killed him out of mercy

The button in the final control room was armed with TNT

The button Wilbur pressed to blow up L’Manberg was the one in the final control room

you ever think about how crazy it is that our first fan song was a folk song about the forming of our country. like… that makes sense. if you consider us to be dsmp citizens; the idea that some of the first music ever made was songs that the soldiers sung around campfires?

Hands in the Snow: a cClingyduo Song Analysis

What better thing to do right now than write overly dramatic lyric-based analysis of c!Tommy and c!Tubbo’s relationship in the final streams. As much as the last bit was disheartening, in my eyes the other 80% had some of the most banger characterisation in the entire server’s history. Let’s use this song to guide us:

By the time you read these words I will be gone

This is Tommy’s note to Tubbo, left in a chest at his base. It is the ultimate show of their complicated relationship. A written message because they can’t bring themselves to say it. Left at Tommy’s house, the final piece of their past still ostensibly intact, L’Manberg’s last legacy.

And I don't know if I'll be back

So before you ask

Just remember

That we've been here before

This section reflects not only the deceptive optimism both Tommy and Tubbo show in the face of insurmountable odds, but a gentleness somewhere in the distance. “We have been here before”, before the battle, before the giant mountain hiding an enemy, before the prison. Coming from Tommy this also recalls the last time he went into the prison alone, leaving Tubbo to deal with his death.

This next section best fits c!Tubbo, reacting to the new Tommy.

I see through windows in the rain

Through all the language left behind

And I watch you drink

Invisible ink

So I won’t know

When you swallow your words

The language left behind in Tommy’s last message, everything made blurry by the distance Tubbo feels towards almost every other server member at this point. Watching Tommy drink invisible ink, literal invisibility potions. Tubbo knows that he doesn’t fully know Tommy anymore, the cracks in their shared history deeper than they have been in a long time.

I won't be there

To watch it all unravel

To watch the union come undone

This is Tommy looking onto what he believes to be a server going on without him. He won’t see Tubbo grieving him, their “union” breaking apart since nuclear annihilation is instantaneous.

The end could come at any time

With harvest hands and tv eyes

And the scientists

Know the way it is

And we all know

And we follow them down

This reflects both Tommy’s and Tubbo’s views on death, both having lived on borrowed time for far too long. One could even read the “harvest hands” being c!Tubbo with his beetroot fields and iron farms, and “tv eyes” being c!Jack reflecting his prominent eyewear. “The scientists” could either reflect Jack and Tubbo again or alternatively c!Dream and c!Punz. Tommy goes against them even if he knows he cannot come out of this situation whole.

I hear you talking like a train

On concepts you can't quite explain

Like a dictaphone

Set especially slow

And I don't have the heart

To tell you what a fool you are

This paragraph is how how Tommy sees Tubbo, but also how Tubbo sees Tommy, making the final plan. To Tubbo, Tommy can’t quite explain why he has to die and they cannot just run away. Go to the moon, not metaphorically but literally. To Tommy, who sees his plan as the only way, Tubbo’s attempts at changing the plan are foolish, L’Moonberg and happy ever after in a little cottage. It’s all a train whistling, distracting him.

Aside from repeating Tommy’s perspective, this could be seen as Tubbo’s point of view as he rushes into the prison. He realises that this is as close to a futile mission as could be and does it anyway.

By the time you hear this tape I will be gone

And I won't be back

So don't even ask

Cause we all know

And we follow

With our eyes on the sky

And our hands in the snow

At the end this is their final ode to another, a callback to simpler times. Gone from each other and the world, nothing more to say. Eyes in the sky over L’Manberg, hands in the snow of Snowchester. So close yet so far apart.
