the oddworld fandom don’t really want to interact with you because you don’t care about oddworld. compared to other fandoms we’re tiny and the games don’t get enough love anyway so it feels borderline disrespectful. if it’s not your thing why are you even making ocs for it?

I literally made a post saying not to pull this shit, I said I would be taking anon asks as long as people were kind. Yet once again I'm being met with being pushed out of a community I was wanting to get to know about. Being told I don't care when I'm literally still new and learning things. So people apparently can only partake in a community if they only know every little detail about it?

Look if you have an issue with me I'd rather you not be hiding behind anon, it feels incredibly uncomfortable and disrespectful that you would cross a boundary I set in place. The anon asks was to allow people to send asks comfortably, but you keep ruining it for everyone with me needing to turn them off because you don't have the balls to come out and say stuff without hiding behind anon. You make me believe the community is unkind and unwelcoming, when I don't want to believe that because some of the people I have interacted with have been wonderful.

You don't get to dictate what I take interest in and how I enjoy those things. So just leave me alone or at least stop hiding behind anon, it isn't fair on anyone else that you keep doing this. I won't be switching anon off because I put it on to allow people to be comfortable. I didn't put it on to allow you to feel comfortable being unwelcoming, if your going to stand up for what you love then stop hiding. Or are you afraid that if people knew who was doing it that they wouldn't like you as much anymore, since it's a small community alot of people seem to know each other. I doubt it would be fun to find out that someone was going out of Thier way to shun people from a community they apparently care about.

If you love something wouldn't you rather want to share it and talk about it, not being hateful and pushing people away from it.

I'm tired of this, this was a shitty thing to just wake up to.

Edit: anon has apologised for their behaviour however decided not to post a response to that because I don't want to give them more attention than necessary. This will be the last thing I'll be adding to this situation. I've blocked them from being able to send anon asks anymore, this is because they broke a couple of boundaries and have done things that I'm really not comfortable with. Also just didn't enjoy the vibes being brought to the table. Just hope a lesson has been learnt here.

Thank you for all the kindness that everyone has shown to me, I was a little surprised by the amount of responses, but I'm glad the community seems to take these things seriously. Don't worry I'm not going anywhere and my asks are still open and yous are free to send asks as anons. Just be kind and respectful<3 eventually I may make a post with all the ocs on it that are available for asks once I've brushed up more on lore. I look forward to doing more with yous <3

Also I can totally see that, with pat teasing Arabella for being older, makes sense since Thier in ballet.

Also Arabella is very much aware that folks only tend to get along with him believing their a worker when they themselves are one, so it's likely if he can help it the fact he is a drone is something he would never tell pat. Also cause they know the stereotypes around it and don't want to then be seen or viewed as just those things when they really aren't.

Thankfully the only ones who knows about him being a drone is himself, Thier master, some staff on the home ship and a couple of clients. It's kept under pretty tight wraps.

Arabella would Def appreciate the friendly competition and friendship with pat :3, since I imagine it isn't common to be able to become buddies with a fellow ballet dancer, and a Mudokon one at that.

Honestly, I can totally see them becoming buddies that constantly compete with each other. And even though their age difference is not that big, Pat would definitely tease him for being the older one x)

Him secretly being a drone is an interesting situation though.

Pat would get comfortable around Arabella rather quickly thinking he's a worker, but if he knew that he's really a drone, he wouldn't be able to open up to him as easily.

I decided to make a new ref for Sylrie since my partner and I played Soulstorm together 👉🏻👈🏻 it's been a minute since I've drawn her or...really thought about her much kdjfhg but I tweaked her lore a lil bit and it gave me an excuse to redesign her slightly too 👀

Sylrie is a native Mudokon from a small remote village on a snowy mountain somewhere in Mudos. She's kind of reclusive, partly just because she's lived in this village her whole life and has never seen what's outside of it...mostly because she's afraid to.

She was born with very lightly-colored eyes, but she's perfectly healthy and her vision is completely intact. The elder of her village instead saw the color as an indicator of some strong spiritual power that lay dormant but would one day come to her. She was told that her eyes were sacred and to treat them as such, so she hides them with a mask that she never takes off in front of anyone. If she ever does, it's only because she trusts that person enough not to harm the most vulnerable and precious part of her.

So far, she has no power to speak of...but she does have recurring dreams about glittering lights that morph into names and places she's never known or seen before. They often mention someone called the Messiah and tell her vaguely that one day he'll rely on her. She thinks these dreams might be prophetic... but if they are, they're hard for her to believe. What kind of help could someone with no power like herself possibly provide someone as important as that...?

...spoiler alert: enough that they stick together for so long that he ends up getting to be the first person besides the elder to see her eyes dkjfg

okay I'll be honest I. haven't really thought of how she and Abe end up together sjdfhdjh. I...did kinda kick around an idea from when I first made her + added to it, which is that she guides him through the mountain to get to...wherever he needs to go, because she's used to the frigid environment and despite having never left her village, her dreams have told her enough to know the way. and later they end up in some dire situation that makes her power finally awaken in order to save/protect him, and so they're both kind of indebted to each other and that's when they start getting closer...? it's...pretty cheesy but I still kinda like it... 👉🏻👈🏻

also I still really like the idea I had about loveties and so I...may have kinda given her one...that she gets from Abe at some point...with his feathers on it kdjfgkjdfvjnd okay bye

Some people just.. don’t like platformer games. And that’s okay. Oddworld is one of those things where you don’t really need to play the games yourself to get into the meaty lore of it. However, the games do contain a lot, and I do mean a LOT of meaty lore. So summaries of them is a good idea. And cut scenes too, because the animation in those cut scenes were genuinely incredible for the time and should not EVER go unappreciated.

Here are the Cutscenes, they are amazing. Even if you aren't into Oddworld, you should give them the time of day.

The important thing to remember when it comes to the plot of the Oddworld games, is that the majority of these are events happening in what is essentially third world countries. The planet of Oddworld is three times the size of Earth and the continent of Mudos is enormous and contains several countries. We have only seen a tiny-morsel-fraction-smidgen of a singular continent, which is Mudos itself.

I love pupbenny's content, but his videos tend to be full of a lot of personal speculation and whatnot so it makes the videos long/confusing and it can be difficult for people who actually want to get into the lore of the games.

So the above playlist is SHORT FORM videos from Spirit of 1029, each video about 5 to 7 minutes long (give for the ones on Abe and Stranger!) that dives into the meaty meats of character biology and origins.

It's low key great the Oddworld fandom is still alive

This fandom is almost 30 years old, and it's still kicking around like it's no one's business. I only joined the fandom about half a year ago, and I am equally confused as I am grateful this franchise still has it's fans. Do I have any friends who want to discuss how Abe is my literal son? Eh. But the Tumblr is great.

Lok the Bodyguard

and doneeee he livesss, i decided in the end he works as a bodyguard for another mudokon who works as a model [they are featured as a child in the second page]. he isnt owned by the Mudokon just to make that clear, i still dont know what owns him and the model though. but hey thats some more lore added, i might actually draw how that model looks now. im contemplating about the model actually being one of Loks kids [unwanted but was forced into having and then playing bodyguard and carer for].

i know this isnt a character ask blog but i think for lok id be open to people asking questions about him :3 or wanting interaction stuff with him ect. hes a character yall in the community are open to including in stuff if yous want.

I had a dream a few years ago (though I only drew this today) about a tradition among Mudokons called "loveties" (pronounced love ties), which were trinkets that certain Muds shared when they had formed an intensely close bond with one another. It could be romantic, platonic, spiritual, any kind of bond, but gifting a lovetie symbolized that they were closer to each other than to anyone else and it couldn't be any stronger...basically soulmates. It also showed that a Mud was already "spoken for," in a sense (though now that I think about it, I...don't know if that makes a lot of sense for the universe. but it still sounds nice to me dfkjg)

Loveties took all kinds of different forms but were always handmade by the gifter. The one I saw someone wearing in the dream was a tooth on a thin leather necklace (like in the picture), but I wanted to come up with more designs, so I did a bracelet and an ear cuff. I figure loveties would generally be made with stuff like wood, stones and animal hides, but I also thought it would be interesting if they incorporated the gifter's own feathers. I think it would be a really meaningful/intimate thing, giving someone a piece of themselves.
