Rules are post gifs from your 10 favorite shows without naming them, then tag 10 people. Thank you @gleedyke and @justgleekout for the tag. I chose the gifs before I copy-pasted the tags and Tumblr is being meanie and won't allow me to put this text ABOVE the gifs.
Alas, I don't know who's already done this, cause I was kinda offline for the week, so uh I'm doing the "anyone who wants to is tagged" cop-out here!
#ALSO WHEN I MEAN DOCTOR WHO I ALSO LOVE THE SPIN-OFFS OKAY#and winx club post s4 is dead to me#i was also on the fence whether i should swap odaat with korra#honourable mentions to ted lasso and ofmd and b99 and the flash season 1 and 2#tag game

Hi! First thanks to all of you for the help and the hard work.
I would like to ask (I'm honestly not very informed): There are any previous netflix shows that were cancelled and picked up by another service?
Thanks for the question and for the kind words, Anon! It's a labor to be sure, but a labor of love, so all is well.
There are only a few examples of this, sadly. Netflix used to be known as The Place Where Shows Get Saved -- it's amazing how quickly the stereotype changed to The Place Where Shows Get Cancelled, honestly. It gives me whiplash to think about it.
One Day at a Time was the first example...ever, I believe -- I'd love to be wrong, if anyone knows of an earlier one. Its first 3 seasons were on Netflix, which cancelled it on March 14th, 2019. Pop (also known as Pop TV, owned by Paramount) renewed it on June 27th, 2019, and the fourth season started airing March 24, 2020, being simulcast on TV Land and Logo TV (both owned by Paramount).
An unfortunate time to be picked up, honestly. Due to the pandemic, production had to stop in the same month the show started re-airing, and ODAAT got half a season, ending in an animated special airing in June of that year. The show deserved a final wrap-up, but the circumstances of the unfortunate fourth season were more due to the pandemic than to anything else.
The only other example I'm aware of is Uncoupled, the Neil Patrick Harris rom-com show that we've mentioned a few times on this blog. It premiered on Netflix on July 29, 2022, and was cancelled in January 2023. A month later – February 2023 – Showtime (part of Paramount+ now) un-cancelled it by picking it up. Netflix removed the show from its site (aka lost distribution rights) on May 1st, 2023 – just shy of a year – and it starts filming for its second season on May 30th, 2023.
This does demonstrate a few things; not only does it showcase why Paramount+ is this mod's preferred home for Lockwood and Co (not that we're picky at all -- whoever ends up picking it up will earn both my love and my money), as Paramount has been the standalone in helping Netflix shows get a second life, but it also shows that it is wholly possible to save shows from Netflix.
ODAAT took 5 weeks from its season 3 premiere to cancellation, and 13 weeks later, it was rescued.
Uncoupled took 1 week shy of 6 Whole Months from its premiere to cancellation (which...well, us mods have Feelings about the Uncouth Nature of the timeframe there), and 3 days short of a month to be rescued.
To compare, Lockwood & Co took 15 weeks from premiere to cancellation, and we're sitting at 2 weeks exactly from cancellation right now.
It may seem tempting to give up -- two whole weeks, after all! -- but as we've been saying from the beginning, this is a marathon, not a sprint. A little bit of consistent effort every day is far, far more effective than an angry 5-day burnout.
All in all, if L&Co got renewed tomorrow (a trifle unlikely, given that it's the weekend, after all) we'd be very, very far ahead of the curve. Virtually no show going to have Brooklyn 99's next-day pickup (which anyone could tell was going to happen, it was one of the stupidest things I've seen a network do in the last decade). Even Lucifer took a month, and that was one of the most involved, intense, and in-person campaigns I've been in.
When you start feeling discouraged, look at the numbers. We're doing well, and it's very early days.
We can do this, and we will do this -- together.

I am still sad how Carnival row was supposed to be Primes next big thing, with a huge celebrity cast, and it was really really successful even though it never had a big fandom
And then Covid happened, delayed the whole production by 3 years, and season 2 was released four years after season 1, without a fandom who could carry it over such a long time
So Carnival row was closed after two seasons with anyone really noticing, which is shame. Prime invested so much money in it
The show is diverse, steampunk, funny, really really well written, one of the best openings I ever seen on TV, Orlando Bloom, Victorian crime Fanatsy, Feas?
It’s sad that because of Covid it never became what it could have been
And that’s not the only show Covid ruined ODAAT *cries*

I rewatched all (meaning seasons 1-3) of One Day At A Time, because I finished The Horror Of Dolores Roach and needed more Justina Machado. Penelope and Victor's fight at the end of Hurricane Victor has such KCFH vibes in retrospect. Earlier in the episode (and in flashbacks in season 2) it shows how well they used to work by dialing up the corny sitcom antics. Like, the stalling for Alex's recital is corny even for ODAAT. Then when they get into a fight because Victor lied about being sober, Victor makes a corny little aside joke that would normally get a studio audience laugh. There's a serious moment in every episode but the little jokes still get a studio audience laugh. Even Schneider gets laughs when joking about his old failed attempts at sobriety. But while Schneider jokes in a more reflective way, Victor makes a joke to deflect, and both the studio audience and Penelope shut it down. There's no laughs in the entire scene, and the episode ends in silence.

I'm rewatching odaat because I never watched season 4 bc I totally forgot Poptv picked it up and ofc it has been a very long time since I watched it before so I have a very foggy memory (I cant remember if I ever watched s3 too actually)
and man. the timeline blunder in season 2 in the flashback episode still bugs me so so much 😭 like Sure it's not a big deal, but it bugs me!!! in the first episode of the show schneider says it's been only 10 months since they moved in, and then I believe in the new car episode penelope says something about she had to get out of the house that her and victor shared. but it season 2 in the flashbacks they're portrayed as having moved into their apartment in 2001 after elena was born, not long before 9/11 which. obviously doesnt make sense with the timeline that was established in s1
also elena and alex are supposed to be 2 years apart right. shes 15 now, and alex is 13 but in the very final flashback when alex was born, elena looks to be 4, if not 5, at the time. and I know that was for the joke of "you two were always so close" and then cut to young elena saying she hates him she didnt want a baby brother she wanted a puppy. I get it was for the joke. but the flashbacks really really fuck up the timelike that has already been established and like. I love this show! but the discontinuity errors in regards to the timeline in the flashbacks really bugs me yknow 😭

Watching ODAAT while being depressed was simply the best choice I could've made and not just becouse it's funny and amazing, and has incredible representation (I mean, that too). But also becouse it's real and honest. Becouse I needed to see this amazing family overcome every bad thing happening. Becouse I needed to hear "Don't quit before the miracle happens" and see those guys getting help and getting better.
I'm gonna spare you stating how many times I wanted tp quit in the last two months. It's been hard and it is still hard, but now I have hope. I know I can get better and I know it's gonna be hard and that I will slip from time to time, but at the end of the day, I'm gonna be fine.
And even though I was planning on going through the therapy, I think it's really important, the way ODAAT treats antidepressants and therapy and depression. It shows that getting help doesn't mean you're weak. Getting help means you're strong. Admitting before yourself and your family that you do have a problem and you do need help shows that you're strong. And it's just amazing.
So thank you, One Day At a Time, for everything.

The Alvarez are such a loving, caring family. They are not your usual American nuclear unit. The father is more absent than anything else. The mother went to war and has PTSD. The grandmother flew from her birth country as a child and her values doesn’t always reflect those of our modern society. And yet. Penelope as a mother does a stellar job at being understanding of her children and their struggles growing up in the American society of today. Alex and Elena are doing their best walking towards adulthood and they have such a rock solid foundation to back them up. When Elena came out as lesbian, her deeply Christian grandmother redefined her beliefs without any hesitation because she wanted to be supportive of her grandaughter and give her a fairy tale coming out that any kid dream receiving from their family. When Alex faced racism for his Cuban heritage, Penelope made sure to make him understand, really understand that he was important, that he was beautiful and loved, and that what he was experiencing was a produce of ignorance and the bigotry of a dumbass president. They are taught that they should have each others backs as sibling because they need each others. They are taught respect and hard work and how to be decent people and the appreciation of what makes you happy. Watching those children being told that they are enough, that it’s okay to fail especially if you try your hardest and you give your absolute best, that when they make mistakes their family will always be there to help them is honestly so freaking beautiful and healing please watch One Day At a Time you will cry and it will be so good

Gamer Elena
I'm writing this because I refuse to believe that Elena just stopped her Twitch Channel. (But I have no knowledge of games so… yeah) -Elena realized she pushed her self to hard and realized that she needed to reevaluate her decisions. Instead of streaming every day she streams Saturday, Tuesday, and Friday. Gaming stopped being a way to make money, and now she just does it because she enjoys it.
-Schinder gives her most of the games she plays, he's like a walking Game Stop.
-She hates not doing every quest in a game. But she has learned to space out the play of games, so it not two months straight of one game.
-Elena was hesitant to play Fortnite, but Lydia and Alex were very persistent on it and she mainly only plays it if they are with her.
-Lydia became a loved part of the stream, and every once in a while Elena and her play Fortnite together but had to take a break when Lydia got mad at being killed and broke a plate.
-Some people have a crush on Alex. It's disgusting, Elena hates it and will band him from the stream if he keeps flirting.
-She slowly workes her way up in 600 followers and is ecstatic.
-School still comes first, her mom reminds her frequently.
-Syd loves when Elena gets mad and kisses her because she's cute shes mad. It's adorable.
-She gains followers on all her other social media and Alex is lowkey annoyed by it. But is proud of how much Elena has done.
Idk this might be bad, but Happy Gamer Elena is my favorite Elena.
