Love your latest fic with the octopus hybrid, and got reminded of how I remember hearing how one of an octopus' tentacles is technically it's penis.
And I can't help but think of the potential ways a sea creature could mate with a human and it is just filth. Like, those suckers/suction cups leaving red marks, being held with those extra limps, the regular hands touching various parts to see the difference between himself and his human darling.
Just the idea of even kissing this octopus hybrid got me giggling and smiling.
-hand biter spouse
Referencing Yan! Octopus
The funny part is, said tentacle is inserted into the female’s mantle cavity, which in human terms would count as roughly the head area. So you just gave me the silliest idea. Poor octopus boy is poking your head all over, trying to find the entrance, until you have to stumble and fumble and awkwardly point at your coochie. Ah. Of course. He got a little too excited and forgot the technical details.

As promised, here's my yandere!octopus OC! His name is Dr. Mikka Lapan, and he's a mimic octopus/marine biologist. No one knows his secret: not even you, his faithful assistant.
Not yet, at least.
“[Your Name].”
“Yes, Dr. Lapan?”
“Do you like sea creatures?”
Equal parts bemused and amused, you ceased shuffling through the papers on your desk and turned your full attention to your boss.
“No offense, doctor, but I wouldn’t be here right now if I didn’t.”
Dr. Lapan gave a light hum in response, seemingly satisfied with your answer. With no further questions, you went back to reorganizing the messy stack of research papers the doctor kept in the lab. According to him, he had his own system for remembering where everything was meant to go. Needless to say, you didn’t exactly believe him.
A few minutes had passed, and you found yourself sneaking a peak at the doctor, wondering what prompted him to ask such a question in the first place. He was uncharacteristically quiet, peering blankly into one of the many tanks situated in the far corner of the lab. His hand was pressed against the cold glass, fingers aimlessly tracing along with the movements of the creatures dwelling within.
“Doctor?” You called out to him.
Without turning to look at you—or even stopping his motions—he responded, absentmindedly, “Yes?”
Concern creased your brow, leading you to stand up and fluidly cross the room until you were standing beside him. His eyes were still fixated on the tank before him, the soft bluish light mirrored in the thick lenses of his glasses.
“You seem preoccupied today, Dr. Lapan.”
“Do I?”
“Yeah— is something wrong..?”
Your voice seemed to be just what he needed to be brought back to reality, as he finally turned to look at you with a guilty smile on his face, eyebrows upturned.
“Nothing is wrong. I’m sorry for worrying you, dear [Your Name],” Dr. Lapan’s eyes softened. “As always, I appreciate your assistance and concern. We should get back to work now, shouldn’t we?”
Having returned to his usual chipper attitude, you saw no reason to press him any further, opting instead to push his out-of-character behavior to the far recesses of your mind.
That night, you dreamt of the ocean.
Alone and drifting amongst the unforgiving waves, dark and opaque in a way that not even the moon could ever hope to illuminate. Your limbs wouldn’t move. Your mind was racing, but you remained still — even as one particularly zealous wave carried you further and further away from the shoreline.
You willed your hand to move, outstretched toward the receding sands that were becoming blurrier by the second. Something—or more accurately, somethings—cold and slimy wrapped around you; limbs and all, until you were fully encumbered and immobile. The thought to scream came next, naturally, though it was all too soon thwarted by another thing coming up to cover your mouth in cold sliminess. “If I could have you for more than a night… If I—”

The octopus
The octopus-hybrid Octavious
This octopus hybrid was born in the large aquarium he called home. It’s all he’s ever known. Despite the vast variation in plants and spacious tank he lives in having been built with an octopus’s natural habitat in mind, he has no clue how it is in the real ocean. Is it the same? Or is it much different. He wouldn’t know.
However, he can’t help but wonder. Sometimes he catches himself drifting off to somewhat macabre scenarios in his mind. He’ll think about whether he would be able to survive in the sea as he is now, or would he easily get eaten by a much larger predator. He tries not to delve into the latter scenario.
As octopuses are mostly solitary creatures the aquarium decided to put him in a tank of his own. From what he can recall(and heard from the workers of the aquarium) he has many siblings- none he was close to of course. They were taken to other facilities right after hatching. Perhaps they also sit in a watery tank contemplating their existence. Or maybe they’re dead. Octavious can say for sure that his mother is dead though. When an octopus female lays eggs, she stops eating and dedicates the rest of her life to protect her eggs.
Octavious doesn’t let that fact rule his life however. Just like with his siblings, he didn’t ever get to know any of them.
In the first years of his life he never found the solidarity uncomfortable. It was quite the opposite. He enjoyed his alone time. He was fed and he was safe, that’s what mattered the most. Too bad he’s the aquariums only octopus hybrid. The visitors often want to take a look at him and get impatient whenever he doesn’t show himself. He wish he could ask them how they would feel about getting gawked at everyday. If that were the case, they would also hide away in their privat cave.
He really, really disliked the humans pressing their face to the glass, trying to sneak a peek at him. He’d probably say he has an antagonistic view of every human.
That is, before he met you. You were one of the new caretakers hired by the zoo and that was obvious by how you messed up and clumsily moved about in the beginning. At forst he believed you to be another annoying human but you proved him wrong. You were so kind and patient. You never got mad when he refused to show himself whenever it was feeding time. You never tried to force him to interact with the visitors.
It took a while before he felt ready to talk to you. He had imagined you frowning and scurrying away because of how he ignored you during all you previous encounters. But you didn’t. Instead you smiled and greeted him cheerfully. The two of you spoke every chance you got and slowly you scene an irreplaceable part of his life.
He realised he didn’t simply like you as a caretaker or a mere friend; he wanted more. He wanted to be your mate.
He understands that there is a whole ‘you live on land and he lives in water’- thing but he is able to stay above the surface for a certain amount of time, plus he also has his own private cave only he can access. It’s above water so you can be there and be completely fine. It’s not a big problem.
Octavious often dreams about you staying in his cave with him. You could talk forever without anyone interrupting and you could cuddle and play to your hearts extent. There would be no one to take away your attention from him. Being someone who usually shies in the opposite direction of attention, this is really confusing him.
But he doesn’t mind it, no. He loves you after all! Octavious will do anything to be your only mate.

Been thinking about a masseuse octopus hybrid. How they’d be able to massage all of your stiff joints at the same time. But they’d start off gentle, like how a human masseuse would. Slowly kneading your neck and back to release the tension that has grown from you working so hard every day. Then the kneading would turn into circular motions around your shoulders, and feet? That’s when you remember that a hybrid is working on your tired body. As they work up to your calves and down your back you start to relax even more.
You’re then surprised when you start to feel their suction cups working on you aswell. It’s a weird feeling a first, just it’s strangely relieving. You know you’re going to have circular bruises all over your body the next day, but it seems worth it.

Puppy reader who is teething and her teeth feels very itchy so she constantly needs to chew on something and monster!Konig tentacles are her favorite things to chew on bc they're kinda rubbery, soft and taste funny...
- 🐮
Cw: teething, biting, sea food???, tell me if I missed any.
Ghost had been your handler for the past year, having to train and teach you everything you’d need to work with them. He’d seen your lows as often as your highs, from a whining pup, moaning about not receiving enough pets or kisses or treats, seemingly almost missing something, to an energetic mutt, bouncing off the walls and running laps at the prospect of praises and affection.
He’d seen it all, every little moment you had that had him strain against the limit of his patience as a competent handler. And despite your age, far from being a young puppy with frail limbs and limp ears, you could act as on: whining, crying, barking until something - someone - gave you the attention you needed, but he’d never seen you do… this.
It was unusual for you to be this mouthy, teeth itching to sink into something, your teeth bared and snarling when anyone tried to take the object from your mouth. Ghost had bought you toys, boxes filled with softer chew toys rather than the hard plastic of a shoe or the metal bite of utensils, but you worked through them faster than he could provide. Perhaps you were bored of the repeated drills despite dogs being creatures of habit, or you were lacking activity, he was getting busier with all the reports and paperwork he had to fill in for Price. Especially with another PMZ being called for a joint alliance.
He worried that they’d pose a danger to you, so young and naive to how others could treat you as a hybrid, he had both Gaz and Soap follow you —or rather, you follow them; but when he saw you perk up at the sight of a giant man and another hybrid, a scarred tiger, Ghost felt his shoulders tense. You just had to find interest in a man - could he even be a man with how big he was? - heads taller than him, broad and dangerous. You had completely forgotten his orders, trailing behind the giant like a lost pup, tail wagging and eyes bright.
You’d go missing for hours upon hours, leaving the Task Force as worried as they were confused, lost without the small ball of sunshine around them. They would go looking for you, asking around until they eventually found you curled up and asleep on your bed, your snoring echoing softly in Ghost’s room. It went on like that for the week and the next, only finding you in the Mess Hall or your bed, not knowing where you went during these long breaks.
Until- until Gaz had found you straddling the giant’s - König’s - lap, you face covered in a thin layer of mucus and gnawing on a tentacle, long and dark and viscous. Ghost was livid, König being an octopus hybrid - however odd that sounded - and how at ease you both felt to let each other be so physically close to one another. Granted, you were a sociable hybrid, which seemed to bother him less than the sight of you biting on a König’s tentacle.
He knew you were somehow teething, but it bothered him how you were dealing with it with someone else instead of coming to him for a solution. Ghost would have to talk to you later.

I request you have a good day - 😈
I love you this is written for you (octopus hybrid because I love monsters)
✎ yandere! octopus hybrid who is obsessed with you! you're so small compared to him and it's so cute :( no, you're not short. he's just 10 times larger than you. deep sea creature moment aha 😂
✎ yandere! octopus hybrid who can't help but want to keep you all to himself. you're so precious to him, his darling treasure! and you're all his! even though you may not cooperate much now, he's sure you'll give in sooner or later!
✎ yandere! octopus hybrid who saved you when your submarine sunk in the deep depths of the ocean. why did he only save you and not the others? uh... they all died already haha! yeah totally not because he was the one who brought down your submarine... yeah...
✎ yandere! octopus hybrid who's looking for a way to shrink himself down to your size. otherwise he'd not be able to fit in you! D: don't worry! he'll think of something :3 you and him will have so many children once he finds a way!
with tentacles wrapped around your waist, the giant 10 meter (32 feet) octopus hybrid stares down at you with gentle eyes.
"cute... so small... all mine..."
you frowned at him, squirming slightly in his slimy tentacles. you didn't want this. it wasn't your plan to be captured by a 32 feet octopus hybrid who was obsessed with you. because not only was he the reason why you were stuck in the ocean, but he had also killed off your other crew members just to make sure you wouldn't have anyone else but him!
initially, you were grateful for him. completely naive and way too trusting of this deep sea creature. with an upper body of a human male's and the lower body of an octopus (aka tentacles), you were way too fascinated with him to understand why he would keep you alive.
but you slowly snapped out of your fascinated stupor and demanded for him to let you go. unluckily for you, it was too late and he had already finalised all of his plans to keep you with him, to make you his mate.
all you could do now was to try and rebel against him, to push back his plans of officially marking you as his mate. though it seems like it won't be for long until he finally gets what he wants.
"cute darling... soon we will be one."

A/N ┊ HI! It's my first thingy here auahauah I hope you like my fic. By the way the octopus is a human on top and octopus at the bottom (;´_ゝ`) don't think I made him all octopus. By the wayyy this is heavily based off of the little mermaid !!(゜ロ゜ノ)ノ NYAHAHAHA also kisses from kitsuvio
PAIRING ┊ Yan!hybrid octopus x you (afab)
TW ┊ Kidnapping, mentions of kids, yandere content!
You were just a little mermaid who was fascinated by the land above. You saw countless ships pass by, and you'd see sailors, buccaneers, and pirates all having fun and drinking their rum. You pondered on how the land above would feel…
While you were in your little reverie about how the land would be; Then you saw a dark and smoky cloud above the water, feeling curious you swam up to the surface to see a burning ship despite the flames, the frigid air from the night made you shiver. The crackling fire raged throughout the ship as it spread quickly. You saw a man struggling to get off the boat as it soon got engulfed in flames… Throughout the wrecked ship and smoke, you managed to save the man who fell from the ship. You brought him up to the surface, far away from the rubble.
Once you had successfully dragged him onto the shore, his body was lying down on the sand. A small flutter invaded your heart and you soon came to grow fond of the man; before you didn't know the consequences you'd face for this silly crush, you had a miniature understanding of the land above and how love worked. When he started to wake up, you dived back into the water, not wanting to be seen by him yet.
Many moons had passed then; your heart still aches for the man. Yearning to be with him on the shore and profess your love. So you desperately tried seeking help, someone who could bring your wildest dream come true you came across a well-known wizard of the sea. With desperation, you visited the mysterious cave where this supposed wizard resided. With hesitation, you swam through the cave; as the light became evanescence to you, it got even more eerie.
This octopus wizard coupled himself up inside his art gallery and painted mosaics and murals whenever he had free time. But he was most known for his potionology and spells…
“H-hello? Is anyone here?”
Your voice echoed throughout the cave; this might've just been a scam, or perhaps whoever was living here didn't want your presence. Then, a large tentacle poked out from a small room in the cave. Suddenly, the cave illuminated. It no longer felt so eerie but majestic in a way.
Unlike the other merfolk, he was a monstrous octopus. Cursed with having eight tentacles instead of a beautiful tail. But when he saw you just swim in here and not even freak out about his tentacles, it made him feel butterflies in his stomach.
“mmh… w-whaddya want?” Internally, he was quite shy but tried to be professional since you were still a customer.
He was heartbroken and devastated once he figured out you were trying to get on land so you could have your happily ever after with a man. He gave you what you sought, a pair of nice legs. In exchange, you had to give up your voice. It was a hefty price to pay, but he wanted to make this challenge impossible… So he added something else, you must marry the man before sundown then you'd be rewarded with legs forever and retrieve your voice.
He wasn't going to let you succeed, no way! The little octopus brewed up a plan and watched you from afar as you tried mingling with the prince. He tried not to look as much because it made him act out. That scum didn't deserve you… oh how desperate he was to have your scales; if he couldn't have them, perhaps his future children would. They'd be a sort of hybrid of a mermaid and octopus.
As expected, you were going to fail. He tried to deceive your crush into liking someone else. A lighthouse girl, the man was completely convinced that she saved him that day, which left you as a heartbroken mermaid.
The sly octopus observed as you were left in defeat, watching your lover marry another maiden; it had already been a week, and the sun had set. Without a voice to call for help the, the octopus saw an opportunity and took you back into the ocean with his slimy tentacle while making sure to let you breathe. He was already planning his honeymoon with you, maybe beside the beach with a few mer-kids running around or two.

Yandere! Sea Monster x Reader
In the spirit of Mermay, I come to you with a slightly different approach: an octopus hybrid, dwelling in the dark depths of ancient waters. :) Hopefully close enough to the sea monster you imagined, @wally0117
Content: gender neutral reader, male yandere, monster romance, reader likes sharks (a lot); inspired by The Shape of Water and My Octopus Teacher; photo from Whalebone Magazine
He’s always been aware of humans, naturally. Observed them from the beginnings of time, from the very first rudimentary attempt of a boat that crossed his waters. Though he can only guess how these creatures exist, how they breathe, how they move. What arrives in his depths is always a corpse of some sort. Bloated, decaying carcasses, rarely intact, whether chipped by fish or by time. Everything else is left to his imagination.
Until today. The fish are restless, the currents are stronger. Something must be happening above, stringing him along curiously. His many legs sway in tandem, opening and closing, as he investigates the source of interest. His pale white eyes narrow to a mere squint, unused to the light of the surface levels. At last, he finds it: a human.
Yet this one is unusual. Intact - save for the bleeding wound - and unlike the washed-out, cadaveric blue tint he’s normally accustomed to. He notices a twitch of the limb and it dawns on him: this one is still alive.
You wake up with a violent cough, thrusting out the leftover liquid that had invaded your lungs earlier. You clearly remember drowning, so how did you end up on shore again? The answer reveals itself rather quickly: a monstrous creature, albeit humanoid for the most part. The upper half resembles a man, but the torso ends in thick, enormous tentacles, now flopped onto the sand, surrounding your body. You search for the creature’s face, framed by translucent tendrils that seem to replace what you’d expect as hair.
“Thank you”. He scans your features and remains silent. Does he even understand human speech? After a moment of consideration, he looks ahead, surveying the water, then returns to you, giving you a nudge. He most likely wants to know how you ended up in that situation to begin with. “That’s, well…”
Conveniently enough, the monster has brought you back to your little camp, so you reach for your backpack and pull out a book. Of course, no words can ever replace the image itself. With renewed enthusiasm, you open your encyclopedia and turn it towards the man, showing him a photo of a sand tiger shark, tapping on it excitedly. “I was looking for sharks!”
Ever since the bizarre, life-saving encounter, you’ve been returning to the same spot most days. And without exception, the monster will be waiting for you in one of the neighboring caves. Judging by the pellucid, pale skin and his reluctance to be in the light, you guessed early on that he might be a creature of the depths.
One that has been around for a long time, it seems. Once he understood your interest in sharks and other aquatic animals, he developed a liking to play guide for you, silently touring you through forests of kelp, hidden caves, labyrinths of reefs and hills. He knows where the animals linger, and they don't scurry away when you approach. You've never dreamed of being so close to them, staring into their eyes and tracing their fins as they swim past you, unbothered and relaxed. The monster will gaze at you from a distance, amused by your passion.
On ground, you’ve begun your own little experiment: can the octopus creature learn sign language? You didn’t need long to discover how intelligent he is, mimicking your gestures with flawless ease, instantly memorizing the meanings, the connections, the implications. He seems to be terribly delighted by this newfound tool of communication, often asking you questions with earnest curiosity.
Ah, yes, the questions. It makes sense that he’d want to know more about humans, though his interrogations are rather…particular. Specific. It’s less about humans as a whole, and more about you. How long have you been swimming here? How deep can you actually swim, with or without aid? Might you have a family waiting for you back home? A mate, perchance? No? Interesting.
"My vacation will end soon", you sign with pursed lips. He tilts his head. "Leaving?" his webbed hands gesture, somewhat uneasy. You nod. You can discern a glint of melancholy in his eyes. Eventually, he resumes: "Would you like to see my home?" Your eyebrows raise in surprise. His home? Down there? Was such a thing even achievable for a human like you?
The plump suckers attach themselves to your skin, one resting over your mouth. "Do you trust me?" You cast one final glance over the underwater abyss, a black hole trapping all light and matter. You shake your head in approval. Without hesitation, he plunges over the cliff, pulling you after him and into the yawning void of darkness. His form glows eerily, and his movement is swift and elegant. You can tell this is his land, his territory. You would've been dead a long time ago.
He releases you on the wet stone, inside the air pocket of a cave. You need a few moments to overcome the wave of claustrophobia pressing against your lungs. As you catch your breath, you recall your long path from the surface. It would be impossible to make it back out again without your friend. A cold shiver runs across your spine. "Have a break, and I'll show you everything else afterwards", he gestures with a smile. "How long will it take? I don't want to walk back at night", you explain.
Silence. You stare into his empty orbs, awaiting a reaction. There's not a sound, not a gust of wind, not a shred of light. "You're not going back", he finally answers.
You see, he's done a fair amount of research himself. He doesn't need an encyclopedia to figure you out: how you breathe, how you move, how you exist. In fact, he is rather confident in his ways of helping you adapt to a life spent together. He would've never brought you down here if he wasn't certain of your survival. His grin widens in anticipation, a strange warmth enveloping his innards at the mere thought of it: a future with you in it, right here. However, one question remains, a cheeky, perverted detail that has been on his mind from the moment he met you, yet he could never investigate it properly.
How do humans mate?

It is finally time for Tequilla's backstory! This has been a story long in the making. It's nearly as old as him! I have been ITCHING for the chance to share this with all of you so I really hope you enjoy this fic.
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT THIS FIC CONTAINS POTENTIALLY TRIGGERING MATERIAL. For the sake of anyone wishing to go into this with absolutely no spoilers however, I will be putting the content warnings into the ALT text of the following picture. I hope you all enjoy :)

---
There's something pressing in on him, building pressure in his ears and a burning in his lungs. Light shimmers above him, endlessly drifting farther and farther away and he descends into the darkness below.
He reaches a hand out to the light. ‘No. This can't be it.’
A hand reaches for him, reaches, brushing against his cold claws.
His burning, panicked lungs force him to breathe, to try and recognize the figure above him. He sees blue, pink, brown, gold. blue, pink, brown, gold. And then…
—
“Momma!”
The little orange dragon giggles as he bounds up to his mom. Sharp claws tug at her large skirt. He woke up bright and early to come visit her gazebo, up on the hill that overlooks their little nook of the island. She glows against the warm tones of the sunrise where she sits on her wooden chair overlooking the ocean. Her pink dress compliments the sky as her curly brown hair compliments his own, framed by her curled horns and long ears.
She laughs with him, lifting him up into her arms. The golden bands on her wrists brush coldly on the underside of his arms. “Hello my little peanut, good morning darling.” She kisses his nose, and he kisses hers in return. “You just keep growing don't you baby? Pretty soon I won't be able to hold you like this anymore.”
Tequilla squirms and giggles as she hoists him onto her lap.
Momma laughs, squishing his face. “You look so much like me these days, peanut.” She pokes his face, intentionally getting a laugh from him. “But who gave you these freckles! Do you have another parent I don't know about? Where is he?” She feigns searching around the area.
He bats her hands from his face. “M-omma!” he laughs.
“Alright, alright. Tell me peanut, what brings you up here this morning? I can tell by that look in your eye you've got something to tell me.”
“Bea-ch today.” He says, pointing towards the ocean.
“Oh,” She scratches the back of her neck. “Today is beach day? Are you sure?”
Tequilla nods. “You a-and dad said- said.”
She strokes his hair and sighs. “That's true, we did promise you beach time after the last time.” She draws her communicator from a pocket in her dress and opens it, looking through the list. “Dad and Pipi are still asleep, do you want to wait for them? You know how much your Pipi loves the beach trips.”
Tequilla presses his hand against his mouth and furrows his brows. Dad wouldn't go into the water because of his leg. And Pipi is really protective of him in the water. And he really wants to go right now.
“Now please.” He finally says. His wings readjust as he wiggles.
“Alright,” she sighs, closing her communicator. “Your Mom is awake so let's go get her first, okay? We can grab the beach towels from the pool deck and your clothes too.” She picks Tequilla up again, out of her lap and onto the wooden floor where she can hear his claws click.
He holds onto her dress as they cross the rope bridge that connects her gazebo and the roof of his house. It sways slightly in the wind and movement of their bodies. His tail flicks and vibrates excitedly.
They descend the stairs, past Tequilla's bedroom, and onto the deck of the second floor. He scoops up his and his Momma's beach towels from by the pool as she walks around the corner and up to the large garden plot where his Mom sleeps. There are large lumps of dirt where she likes to fall asleep, amongst stones and small plants beginning to sprout.
She knocks on the wooden frame of the plot, calling out to the dirt covered lump in the middle. “Good morning Belladonna~” She sings, “Up and at ‘em, Tequilla wants to go to the beach and I need you to help him get dressed.”
There's stillness for a moment.
Then the mound begins to shift.
Slowly, a head of star leaves emerges from the dirt, large black-purple berries like buns on the sides of her head stand out against the green. She stretches, soil falling from her thin arms and chest. Her flower tail emerges last, shaking itself free of debris. She squints at the two of them, backlit by the ever rising sun.
“Doll. Sprout.” She nods to each of them.
“G-good mor-ning Mom.” Tequilla grins.
“Good morning Donnie.” Doll says, far more focused on their egg than the nightshade dryad in front of her.
The dryad lifts herself from her soil bed, running a hand between her leaves as she opens up the chest tucked just behind the plot. “So I'll get the kid dressed while you grab everything else, yeah?” She shrugs on a well worn, light weight white dress like a dandelion from the chest.
“Mmhm!” Tequilla answers, “Momma s-said tha-at I get to go to the beach.”
“Oh, so we're finally doing that? I thought that Doll and Gin would never let you leave the nook again after-”
Doll clears her throat, glaring at her co-parent with a silent ‘not here.’. She takes the beach towels from Tequilla and ruffles his hair, careful to not catch his horn. “I'm going to get everything ready at my gazebo. I'll meet you at the front door.”
She disappears around the corner with a huff, dress swaying.
The dryad pokes Tequilla. “They have me dress you because I'm the only one that can fit through your little door frame, did you know that, kid?”
Tequilla nods, feeling his tail wrap around his leg anxiously.
Donnie glances at it, and rests a hand on his face. “Don't worry about it sprout, it doesn't bother me any.” Her own flower tail subconsciously wraps itself around his.
She places her hand on his back as she leads him to his bedroom, up the stairs and through a door too small for a man but just big enough for a child. She tells him to pick out whatever outfit he wants, just as long as it is beach appropriate. The last thing they need is for him to burn his scales again or get caught by a particularly curious catfish. He emerges from the closet several times, each time showing off a different outfit as Donnie vetoes parts of the previous one. Eventually, he decides on an olive green shirt paired with dark blue swim trunks.
They pass Papa’s room as they go down the stairs, walking quietly as they listen to his snores through the locked door.
Doll is waiting just outside the front door, tapping her foot impatiently, arms full of everything they'll need for the beach trip. She had changed out of her large poofy pink lolita dress, and into… essentially the same thing, but shorter with even more frills that cover her from hips to mid thigh. The top of the swimsuit is also decorated with ruffles, and Donnie notes just how low cut the front is. In the center around her waist, of course, is Doll's signature bow. All to hide the problem, of course.
The dryad whistles, clearly trying to get a rise out of the hybrid. “Looking fancy, princess.” Tequilla bounces out from behind Donnie and hugs his mother tightly.
“You l-l-look pretty, momma!” He beams.
“Aw, thank you peanut. I'm sure that if Donnie could swim,” She glares at her, smiling in a devilish way that really makes Donnie remember she has horns, “She would have an even prettier swimsuit.”
Donnie huffs, readjusting her dandelion dress. “It's salt water,” she says pointedly, “Do you have any idea what that does to my leaves?” Her tail flicks in annoyance.
“Hence, the umbrella.” Doll rolls her shoulder, making the rainbow umbrella propped against it bounce. “You'll get to stay on the beach while I have fun with my egg.”
She readies a retort, but is interrupted by a very frustrated child voicing his displeasure by silently tugging on their skirts.
Doll immediately pivots, her voice taking on a much softer and more motherly edge than the voice she uses talking to Belladonna. “I'm sorry peanut, were we ignoring you? Here, take the towels and we'll start walking to the beach if you're ready.” She lets Tequilla lead the way, the egg walking triumphantly in front of them like a general. Donnie grumbles, annoyed at how quickly Doll forgot about her, yet follows closely behind anyway.
–
Doll is already wincing by the time they finish the short walk to the beach.
Tequilla runs ahead of them, flopping onto the wet sand with a thud. He wiggles, trying to bury himself into the beach like a desert lizard he saw once.
It takes her a moment to catch up to him, putting her luggage down gently in the sand before crouching in front of him. There's a smile on her face but her eyes are serious.
“Peanut, can you tell me the beach rules?” She prompts.
“N-no kicking ss-sand towards people,” he counts on his fingers as he recites them from memory. “No wan-dering away without supervision, no diving w-without pipi, a-and no venturing far.”
“And why do we not venture out too far?” She asks, brushing sand from his scales and hair.
“Because the beach ends quick.” he says carefully. They've told him this hundreds of times but her kid can be too adventurous for his own good sometimes. The beach itself is… safe, mostly. She scratches at her midriff absently. The area they usually go to is well scouted, with jutting rocks marking where the beach dips suddenly into the cold ocean floor far beneath. The beach is littered with shells and soft rocks from years of waves. Occasionally if they dig around they can find sea glass and small pieces of metal under the grains of sand. Tequilla loves to bring Gin here to dig with him.
“Momma?” Tequilla pulls on her golden bands. “Play?” He asks, pointing towards the ocean.
She glances at the salty expanse of water, and winces.
“I'm sorry baby,” she brushes his hair from his face as she speaks, “I'm still feeling tired from last time. But I'll be right here while you play, okay?” She and Tequilla glance at where she had put their stuff. Donnie sits on her now unfurled green beach towel, the large rainbow umbrella already open and propped up in the sand.
Her own beach towel is also laid out neatly under the umbrella.
“Make sure to stay in our line of sight, baby.” She calls out behind her as she stumbles towards the umbrella. Tequilla lets out an affirmative, excited baa in return, the sound of splashing water following immediately afterwards.
Doll collapses onto the towel with a huff of exhaustion. Pain pulls at her muscles and forces her to wince.
Donnie prods her side with her flower tail, brushing lightly against the slick fabric of the swimsuit. “Y'know, if you actually rested and stopped wearing your corset all the time that would probably heal a lot quicker.”
The hybrid lowers her head and glares at Donnie. “I don't know what you're talking about.” she growls.
She rolls her eyes at the clear display of aggression. “Well, it's pretty hard to not notice the swimsuit, princess. Your usual one is a lot more revealing. You're hiding your bandages. Did you even get Gin to check it out?”
Doll doesn't respond. She watches her son as he splashes water around with his wings.
Belladonna glances between her co-parent and her kid.
“You don't want the sprout to feel guilty, huh.” She doesn't even bother to frame it as a question.
“He has no reason to feel guilty, it's Aurelia's fault.”
Donnie groans. “Oh, cut the shit, none of us expected a shark to be there in the first place, don't blame this on the octopus.”
“She could have at least warned me that they're aggressive,” she pouts, “they weren't aggressive like THAT where I'm from.”
“Doll. You don't even remember where ‘where I'm from’ even is.” She says deadpan.
That finally makes her take her eyes off of Tequilla.
“At least I wasn't dug out of the ground by some nutcases in lab coats and transplanted to a tropical island.” Doll leers. “Maybe if you were bigger than a bush they would have had a harder time kidnapping you.”
Donnie whips up to her feet, glaring down at Doll as her tail cracks like a whip behind her. “Well at least I didn't choose to come here willingly!”
Doll rises to her feet too, now towering over the much shorter dryad. “Well excuse me,” She stomps her foot in the sand, “I guess next time I'll know better than to trust a postcard that looks EXACTLY like my sister's handwriting. I'll anticipate that it's going to lead me to an island full of crazy people and murderous bears!” Her ears flick, face dark. Her ears and cheeks are flushed with emotion.
Donnie seethes at her. “Yeah, well… w…” she trails off, looking towards the ocean with a look of growing panic.
“Well what, what other insult do you have to sling at me?” Doll shouts.
“Doll.”
She groans in anger, eyes following the dryad's gaze. “What could possibly…” Her eyes go wide as ice floods her veins.
“Doll?” Donnie says quietly.
The beach is empty.
“Where's Tequilla?”
Doll bolts upright, injury be damned. She runs through the sand, feet sinking as she feels the grains below her bare feet push against her skin, getting more waterlogged as she approaches the water. He should have surfaced by now, she thinks, He's a better swimmer than I am by now.
She scans the waters, looking for any sign of her son.
Nothing.
Suddenly, just a few feet ahead, she sees bubbles.
Without a second thought she dives into the water. The bandages around her wound fill with salt water, making the injury itch. But the adrenaline in her veins is drowning out everything but her son.
Her eyes sting as she opens them, but through the hazy vision of salt water she can see Tequilla thrashing, panicked, trying to resurface. Precious bubbles of oxygen escape his lips. She doesn't know how long he's been down here, but she has to get him out.
His hand reaches out to hers and four fingers meet five.
She gets her arms under his and tries to swim up, but is met with resistance from below.
Her eyes scan him, trying to find what could be keeping him here. His body shudders.
His tail.
His tail is caught in something far below them.
Her own lungs are screaming for mercy, but she can't pause for even a moment, not while her baby is in danger.
She dives, gripping his tail and the offending object, not even taking a second to process what was keeping him in its clutches.
She rips his tail free, blood oozing slightly from where it was caught.
Tequilla begins to float upwards and she follows, grabbing hold of his far too small body as she hauls them both up to the surface. The light of the sun glimmering ever brighter as they ascend.
It feels like an eternity has passed when they finally break through. She gasps roughly as fresh air enters her lungs.
“Come on Tequilla, just a little farther,” She rasps as they approach the beach.
She holds her son close to her chest as she swims, trying to keep her own heart from escaping her burning chest as she feels how still he's become.
“Hold out just a little longer baby, please hold on.” She mutters.
It feels as if they're crawling towards the shore.
Finally, finally, finally, she feels her toes touch sand.
There's a ringing in her ears she didn't notice until just now. It fades as she hauls herself and her child onto the sand, and she becomes acutely aware of how Belladonna is screaming her name. She doesn't even acknowledge her. She crouches over Tequilla and prays that his heart is in the same place as hers.
“Go get Gin and Aurelia.” She says between chest compressions.
Donnie hesitates. “But.. Doll-”
“Don, go get them now!” She yells.
She doesn't even look up as she hears the sound of footsteps as Donnie runs back into the forest. She just continues her chest compressions.
“Please peanut, come back to me, I'll give you anything you've ever wanted.” she pleads. She plugs his nose as she gives him mouth to mouth, then continues with her compressions. “I- I promise I won't fight with your parents ever again, just please baby-” she gives him mouth to mouth again, gives him chest compressions until she's sure she must have broken a rib, again and again and again.
But he remains still.
Unmoving. Unbreathing.
Lifeless.
Dead.
Her baby is dead.
“No no no no no,” she cries, clutching his clothes, his face, all far too small and young for a fate like this. “No no please, this has to be a joke, I-I can't go through this again.” She presses her head against his chest, hearing only silence. “Please Tequilla, don't leave me again.” she sobs.
The tide washes up against her feet. She needs to move him, get him away from that wretched ocean.
“I'll take you home baby.” She says to his body. It's already becoming cold under her hands as she lifts him into her arms. His limbs are limp in her grip. She tucks his wings and tail in just like he always would. It's more comfortable that way, he says. She brushes the soaked hair from his dulling cheeks and limps into the forest. He's coming home with her.
—
The other parents meet her just outside the house. Gin is barely dressed in the early afternoon light, far too bright for the tragedy that has befallen them. His short black hair is ruffled up and sticking out, clearly showing the gnarly scar over his eye. He and Tequilla match in that way. He's in a white tank top and dark sweatpants, leaning hard against his cane. Aurelia looks similarly underprepared. Her tentacle hair shifts around as water drips from her, soaking the grass below. Her ringed pattern shifts to bright hues from stress. Doll can see her tieing on her robe as she approaches.
Donnie meets her halfway, her eyes never leaving Tequilla.
Doll's composure finally breaks. She falls to her knees and sobs, clutching Tequilla's cold body as if it would bring him back.
Her co-parents crowd around her, shouting over each other, clambering to see their son.
The dryad tentatively brushes his drying hair with her fingers. “Is he…?”
“Dead.” Aurelia confirms. She crouches next to his body, inspecting it gently. “What happened, Doll?”
“I looked away for… for just a moment…” She looks up to Gin, stood above them in barely disguised horror. “Gin…? What do we do now?”
His knuckles go white as he tightens the grip on his cane.
“I don't know.” He says slowly. “I just don't know.”
“That was his last life.” Aurelia says.
“Maybe we could take him to the Federation.” Donnie says. “They brought him back once, maybe they'll do it again.”
“That never worked for the others.” Aurelia points out.
Doll chuckles hollowly. “What other choice do we have?” She looks to Gin. “Do you think you could take him? They'll listen to you.”
“I don't…” He hesitates.
“Please, Gin. I can't. I just… can't do it.”
He sighs. “Yes, I'll do it. I'll do what I can.”
“Thank you, Gin. Bring his bag too. He'll want that when he.. he wakes up.”
Gin nods.
—
Gin never thought he would be back here so soon.
It's been a very long time since he worked for the Federation. It at least felt like one. Could it really have only been a few months?
If he hadn't gotten injured, hadn't disobeyed orders in that exact moment, he wouldn't be… he wouldn't be in this mess. Hurt. Crippled. Demoted.
…
Attached.
Taking care of an egg was meant to be a punishment. Some form of atonement. He was just supposed to monitor the thing until further notice, integrate himself with the assigned family, do something useful. Instead he got attached. And look where that got him. Stood in front of the place that ruined his life, pristine white walls mocking him. A dead child in his hands. and a small bag draped over his shoulder.
He knocks on the doors.
And IT comes out to greet him. That damn bear. It towers over him, staring with that blank eyed smile beneath a brown mustache.
“Hello.” It greets him. “You are not allowed in this facility until further notice. Please leave the area now.”
“I can't do that.” He says.
“Why?” It asks.
He takes a deep breath. “My.. assignment,” MY SON, his mind screams, THAT'S MY SON, “My assignment has ended. This is causing significant distress to the other residents. His death was an accident, and they sent me to request that he be given another life.” Slipping back into the character of a mindless office drone comes easily, the emotional distance making the feeling of his dead son pressed against his hands farther away.
His boss stares at him for a long, long moment.
It grabs Tequilla from him.
“Wait, wait please take his bag too. He'll want that when he wakes up.” Gin pleads. He places the bag atop Tequilla's chest.
“Yes. Yes. Ha Ha Ha.” It says. “I hope you enjoy the island. Please vacate the premises.”
The door slams shut before he can answer.
—
The place he's in feels familiar, yet not at the same time. It is dark and light, feeling and not. He floats in the everything nothingness. He feels something touch the edges of his consciousness, a flash of black lace, dark lipstick, a sunhat. A frown, a promise, a large hand. It beckons him, apologizes to him. Promises that it will protect him however it can. He trusts her, leans in, whispers back something that he can't remember.
And then he wakes up.
He gasps, memories of drowning still fresh in his mind. He coughs trying to expel the water that is no longer in his lungs.
“You've woken up much quicker than the others.”
His head whips around, and he finally notices his surroundings. He's in a white room, something he's far too familiar with. The memories of the tests he and his clutch were put through far too vivid in his mind. He strains against his bindings, strapped roughly and painfully to a cold metal table. He's in a fully white outfit that he has no memory of wearing before. There's lab equipment all around him, and a scientist at his side. He turns to him and growls.
“Tsk, that's not very polite. Where's my thanks for bringing you back to life?” The scientist asks, his faceless form void of expression.
Tequilla tries to speak, but the burning in his throat and fear in his heart cause him to stutter far too much to make out even a syllable.
The scientist seems to understand what he was trying to say. “Yes, you did die. Due to drowning it would seem. Terrible way to go, dreadful. Nothing that we can't fix, of course.” He must see a glimpse of hope on Tequilla's face, because he quickly corrects; “That doesn't mean you're going home to mommy and daddy. They knew that they only had two chances with you. Instead we're going to save some resources.” He walks slowly around the table he's strapped to, adjusting the equipment that Tequilla has no hope of understanding. “Do you know how expensive it is to create one of you? Of course we do them in batches of twelve, it's such a nice even number of eggs. But between the cloning and the incubation and the genetic manipulation? The costs add up. Luckily for us,” He turns a dial with a sharp click. “There's an easy solution to this dilemma. Reduce, reuse, and recycle.”
In one swift motion he clips something to Tequilla's ear, a sharp sting following just behind. Tequilla yelps and lunges to bite his hand, but misses.
He glares at him, rubbing the assaulted hand. “Rude.”
Tequilla huffs and growls at him, low and afraid.
“Oh it's not like it will hurt. And even if it does, it's not like you'll remember by the end of it. You'll just be.. a blank slate, in a way. A body is just a vessel for memories and experiences after all. If you don't have either, well you're back to square one. Just like a newborn egg, fresh off the printing press~.” He says in a singsong voice.
The dragon begins to start struggling in earnest, whimpering and baaing and crying. He calls for his Momma, his Mom, his Dad, his Pipi, ANYONE to come and save him as the scary man in the scary lab coat in the scary white room readies the machines that will ensure he'll never live to see another sunrise.
“Take a deep breath and close your eyes, dragon.” The scientist says as he brings a bright light down onto his eyes. “Or don't. It doesn't matter to me either way.”
A humming sound fills the air.
And everything goes white.
—
His head is ringing.
The world tilts around him, his head rings and throbs in time with the sirens behind him, but he's out. He escaped. The scientist used… Something. To steal his memories. And he thought it was working for a while there! But then he… he…
How did he get out here?
He's standing just outside of a white building. There's alarms blaring from it. He doesn't know what it is or why its making that noise, but he knows he needs to get away from it. He runs, runs towards the nearest trees he can find. Trees mean home.
Home? Is that right? There were trees at his home, right? He knows that if he just follows the path he'll end up home.
His run slows to a stop as he looks around. He doesn't know where he is. There's a bag over his shoulder. His bag. He hates to be without it. There's no scars on his arms like there should be. Not even a trace of them. And there's blood caked under his claws. He remembers swiping the scientist as he escaped. Why is there blood under his claws? He decides to worry about it later. He hears a stick snap behind him and continues running into the forest beyond. Maybe he'll find what he's looking for there.
—
Tequilla wakes up. He's in a tree somewhere. How did he get here? His muscles burn with exhaustion. He wracks his mind, trying to remember what happened before, but comes up blank. Absolute zero. A sob leaps into his throat for reasons he can't even remember. There's blood under his claws. He'll have to wash that out before it gets icky.
—
Tequilla wakes up. He's in some kind of burrow. How did he get here? His stomach growls sharply. He tries to remember what happened before, but comes up blank. He can't worry about that now. He needs to find food. He doesn't know why he knows this. He doesn't know anything at all.
—
Tequilla wakes up. He's by a small pond. How did he get here? Fear clutches the edges of his senses, telling him he needs to keep moving. That there's something out to get him. He tries to remember what that is, but comes up completely and entirely empty. His claws are clean. He doesn't know why that confuses him.
Tequilla wakes up. Tequilla knows nothing.
Tequilla wakes up.
Tequilla wakes up.
Tequilla wakes up.
Tequilla knows nothing.
—
Tequilla wakes up, but somehow it feels different this time. Despite this, he's still very confused and frightened to realise he has no idea where he is. There's a bag over his shoulder. His bag, something tells him. It's covered in dirt by now but it's definitely his. He's covered in dirt too. Plenty of scratches against his scales. He's in clothes that used to be white, now stained various shades of brown and green and red. There's something tickling the side of his face. He panics and pulls at it, only to realize too late that it's attached to his ear which is attached to him. He hisses as it is pulled free from his ear, followed by a droplet of blood. It's a tag, a white tag. Like something you could put on a cattle. “Res: 1” it says. He wracks his mind, trying to remember what happened to him and where he is.
But he comes up blank. Completely empty.
He continues to wander the forest for several days, listlessly trying to figure out where he is and where he's going. Something feels different. Sharper. Like his mind is working when it previously wasn't. He doesn't think about that. He focuses on getting food and shelter. He just knows that he has to keep moving until he finds somewhere safe.
snap
He freezes, and looks forward to where he heard the sound of a branch snapping.
There's a person there.
They're short, shorter than he is. Their scales are blue with yellow bands and diamonds adorning it. They stare at him with dark blue eyes, a pink flower crown holding back brown hair. Large ears flop as they tilt their head. Wings twitch behind him and their tail wags. They're the first person Tequilla has ever seen.
They smile wide, practically vibrating with excitement. “Hi, I'm Poll! What's your name? Do you wanna be friends?”

Yandere octopus hybrid
Yandere octavious
Scenario: your impression of him and the beginning-to-now of your relationship.
When you first took the job as a caretaker and walked into the aquarium, you didn’t expect it too be so hard to bond with a certain octopus hybrid. You learned form the name plate by his tank that his name is Octavious, along with other basic fact about him.
You barely even saw him the first month. If you were lucky you managed to see the very tip of one of his octopus arms. He was very shy, you realised; avoiding you and the visitors of the zoo like the plague. If you had to be honest, you did feel a bit bad for him considering he had to somehow entertain the guests whether he wanted to or not. If he refused to show himself the staff would try to lure him out and bribe him with food or new toys(sometimes he refused to come out even then). Everything for the 5-star reviews you supposed.
Whenever it was feeding time for him you would go onto the platform by his tank and throw down whatever his meal consisted of that day. While you did so, you made a conscious choice to speak as much as you could during that time. You thought that maybe he would grow used to your voice and eventually accept your presence.
And you were right!
Octavious approached you after a while- willingly, too! He popped his head up from under the surface and stared at you silently for a couple seconds. Then he’d greeted you with a soft voice before diving under once more. It was certainly a start! Afterwards, you continued to speak out loud and you were so happy when you noticed him peeking at you in - what he wishes to be- a secret. You didn’t have the heart to tell him he isn’t at all as stealthy as he thinks.
You became closer and closer and now you two are like two peas in a pod. You’ve come to really enjoy his company- although that is probably what you can say for all the hybrids of the zoo.
Octavious is quite shy and often hides away from visitors that crowd his tank during the day. You would lie if you said you didn’t feel bad for him. None of the hybrids in the zoo deserves to be locked up and kept in captivity. Unfortunately there was nothing you could do about it except try to make their time more enjoyable.
Which you do through certain….methods.
You admit, the first time Octavious asked you to accompany him through the night you were thoroughly surprised. Was that even allowed? Scratch that, it definitely wasn’t. But the way his eyes welled up with tears and the sad look of defeat had you in a chokehold. You weren’t able to leave him like that. Not after he begged and cried for you not to abandon him. It didn’t matter how much you assured you weren’t abandoning him, he still accused you of not caring about him.
Eventually you gave in, the guilt being too big.
Never in your life had you imagined the octopus hybrid to be so needy. As you shared each others warmth he begged and cried just as he’d done not long before- just for a different reason. As Octavious was the one to initiate the whole thing, you thought he’d take charge, but you were(pleasantly) surprised when he revealed he wanted you to top him.
His moans echoed around his cave when you slipped his hectocotylus(mating arm)inside you. You looked so perfect riding and using him to please yourself. You obviously love it as much as he does. You can’t believe how happy it makes him.
Octavious supposed a little whining and a few tears really is the solution to everything. He can’t wait to make this a regular occurrence.
