Pacifica Northwest's Sweet Sixteen
Link to this fic on AO3. Words: 4169 Date posted: October 17, 2024
Summary:
You are invited to the greatest party of the century!
When Pacifica wakes up, it’s still dark out.
She reaches over instinctively to turn off her alarm before she realizes that her alarm isn’t going off, and then she just stares up at the silk canopy over her bed. She must have had a nightmare, but she can’t remember it. That’s good, she thinks. It’s always harder to get back to sleep when she remembers them.
She picks up her phone to squint at the time. 5:03 AM. Happy birthday to me, she thinks, rolling her eyes. She’d check her social media, but it’s too early for any of the other people who actually care about her birthday to have said anything to her, and she doesn’t want to scroll through all of the pictures of happy families and families pretending to be happy for the holiday. She’s going to get plenty of that at home today, she thinks.
As much as she’d begged and pleaded for Susan to let her work today, her boss had rightfully pointed out that even if the diner wasn’t closed for the day to give all of the other employees time off with their families, they wouldn’t have any customers. No escaping her parents, then. They probably wouldn’t have reacted well if she tried to skip their party, anyway.
You are invited to the greatest party of the century! Celebrate Gravity Falls’ own winter miracle with us once again at the annual Northwest Winter Gala, Christmas and a birthday all wrapped into one. This year’s theme: Sweet 16. Colors are champagne, lavender, and the Canadian dollar. Gifts are mandatory.
She wanted to puke when her mother handed her the invites along with the guest list and told her the envelopes had to be in her handwriting as if she’d had any choice in who was coming.
She gives up on getting back to sleep. It was stupid to think she’d be able to in the first place. She almost never can, and her birthday is an especially miserable occasion. She still remembers when Mom used to wake her up at midnight with a slice of chocolate cake that she was absolutely not allowed to eat in bed, back when her parents still pretended to like her.
Despite the drafts of snow she can see through her bedroom window, her room is nice and toasty when she throws the blankets off. She used to have her own fireplace. It was probably a safety hazard, but she liked sitting in front of it to read on late winter nights.
She glares at her closet. The dress her mother has picked for her this evening looks like the middle step between a wedding dress and the sort of dress you stuff a toddler into for Easter pictures. She hates it, but she knows not wearing it will be a bigger issue than it’s worth.
For now, she skips right past it to put on winter clothes instead. Fleece-lined leggings, fluffy socks made from alpaca wool imported from Peru, a turtleneck that had been knitted for her by the Austrian prince’s grandmother, and a coat she bought with her own money during their last ski trip to the Alps make up the basics of her outfit, and by the time she gets downstairs and to the front door, they’re joined by a scarf that feels like running water in her hands and luxury brand hiking boots made from shell cordovan.
There’s something so refreshing about the gust of cold air that hits her face when she steps outside, immediately whipping her bangs into her eyes. It is not a still or quiet morning in Gravity Falls. After they had lost the mansion, they moved into a new one in the closest thing Gravity Falls has to “the suburbs,” and there is no big hill or private patch of forest to block the wind from biting at her nose and fingertips. She sucks in a deep breath of it and watches it fog up in front of her as she exhales.
Maybe it’s because she’s a winter baby, but she’s always found the cold weather so grounding. When her boots sink into the snow and it threatens to pour over the top against her socks, that’s when the world feels the most real.
The woods are never far in Gravity Falls even if your family doesn’t own their own private portion of the forest, and when every other scent has been crowded out by pine and the snow is in a thinner layer on the ground because it has too many tree branches to get through to pile up, that’s when she really relaxes. She thinks she can’t have been walking for more than twenty or thirty minutes, and a quick glance at her phone confirms it. Her hair isn’t being thrown around by the wind anymore, safe within the barrier of the trees, but the damage has already been done. She can practically hear her mom’s temper tantrum about what a tangled mess it is, but that’s a problem for later. This moment, right now? This is just for her.
She closes her eyes and takes another deep breath. There’s a richer smell to the forest with her eyes closed. Snow doesn’t smell exactly like rain, but there’s a hint of that earthy smell, wet trees and wet grass and wet dirt all drinking up whatever they can before they freeze solid. She walks until she finds a place to sit down, a knocked-over log that’s frozen over with just a little bit of snow, and she figures it’s not a big deal if her pants get wet because she has to change before the party anyway. Mom and Dad aren’t going to like it, she thinks, but rather than the anxiety that would have gnawed at her only a few years ago at that idea, it only brings a smile to her lips. The only thing that would make this moment better is a cup of coffee.
She doesn’t know how long she just sits there like that, soaking in the peace of a winter morning. She thinks the snow must have stopped, because there aren’t even stray flurries rushing between branches anymore. Her fingers are bright red, and she can barely feel them. She should have put gloves on before she left.
Eventually, she sees the sun starting to peek over the tops of the trees, casting a golden glow on the whole forest. More than that—the snow on the ground reflects the light in a gleaming rainbow that shimmers over the entire ground. She picks her phone up to take a picture, and once she’s snapped a few that she likes, her eyes catch on a few notifications.
Mabel Pines 🌟: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!! 🩷💜💙💖💖💫🌠🦙🌲🎄Mabel Pines 🌟: omg i still cannot beLIEVE that your birthday is CHRISTMASWendy Corduroy : happy birthday, dude! hope your family is less terrible this year.Dipper 💙: Happy Birthday, Paz. I’ll call you later, ok?
She snorts. Dipper texts like such a middle-aged dad. Still, as she goes through replying to them, she tells him that she’s looking forward to it.
And she is. Even though the twins haven’t visited Gravity Falls in-person since that summer when they were 12, they’ve been a near-constant presence in her life since then. She calls Dipper in the middle of the night when she has nightmares and can’t get back to sleep (and he never seems to be able to get to sleep in the first place), she and Mabel send each other at least fifty selfies with a million filters each per day, and she jokes about running away to see them in Piedmont at least twice a week most weeks.
She hadn’t even realized that she was smiling until it drops when her mother’s caller ID pops up on the screen, and she answers before it even has the opportunity to ring and disrupt the serenity of the forest. “Where are you?” Her mother practically shrieks on the other end of the line. “We told you that we were doing birthday breakfast promptly at eight o’clock.”
Pacifica pulls the phone away from her ear to check the time and winces. It’s almost 7:45. There’s no way she’ll be able to get back to the house by eight. “Sorry, Mom,” she says when she presses the phone back to her ear, not feeling very sorry at all. “I guess I lost track of time.”
“Doing what?” Priscilla demands. Before Pacifica has the opportunity to answer, though, she continues, “Oh, it doesn’t matter. Just get your ass back here, young lady.”
It’s always bad when Mom swears. Priscilla Northwest insists that swearing is improper and unattractive, and that if you can’t get your point across without harsh language, you’re too dim-witted for high society. Pacifica thinks that most people think she and her mother are too dim-witted for high society anyway, and that if she cares so much about seeming intelligent, she probably should have spent the years curating a different image.
“Okay,” she says simply. She doesn’t apologize again before hanging up, just presses the button and hops to her feet. The cold has sunk into her bones by now, even through all of that expensive winter clothing, and it takes closer to an hour to get back to the house. It’s hard for her to feel very apologetic, though, when her mother immediately starts fussing about how dirty her clothes are and how tangled her hair is and not the almost blue color of her fingertips.
It takes hours to get ready for the party, and she doesn’t know where all of the time even goes. Hair, makeup, clothes, decorations, food, all of these things were settled so far in advance, so how can it still take until almost noon to get it all in order? By the time of the party, Pacifica is so tired she can barely muster up the energy to smile at the right people and make the right kinds of small talk. She’s sure it hardly helps that she doesn’t even like most of these people, and the few she does like don’t really like her back.
By the time dinner is being served (each attendee gets their own roasted quail and a side of rice pilaf), the only thing she wants to do is run away and hide in her room. She does the next best thing: lounging on a chaise in the parlor her parents keep their still-lightly-mud-stained white rug in when they have guests over, where people are strictly forbidden to enter, scrolling through Tittat videos on her phone. When she hears the door creak open, she knows it must be one of her parents, and she’s not sure which one she wants to see less.
“I have something for you,” her mother’s voice says, and Pacifca doesn’t really have to fight not to cringe because she’s been suppressing it her whole life, but she still feels something curl up unpleasantly inside her. Great, so I have to pretend to be grateful now.
“Mom, I thought that we were doing presents after dessert,” she says, as though it’s actually possible Priscilla forgot her overstuffed itinerary for the night.
“Well, I can’t give you this one in front of everyone else,” Priscilla huffs, and that only makes Pacifica’s dread grow. When her mother sits at the foot of the chaise, she holds out a wine glass, and Pacifica stares. “I want you to meet my friend Chardonnay.”
“Mom, I’m turning sixteen. I’m still not old enough to drink.”
Priscilla rolls her eyes. “Oh hush. I’m doing something nice for you.”
Pacifica doesn’t exactly know how giving her a glass of wine is doing something nice for her, but she knows better than to argue at this point. She takes the glass and takes a tentative sip. She doesn’t have any of the fancy adjectives to describe a very expensive glass of wine. She doesn’t know anything about tannins or acidity or barrel aging or whatever.
It’s bitter. She can’t completely stop herself from cringing, and Priscilla laughs at her. “Yep, I remember that. It’s terrible, isn’t it?” Pacifica stares again. Her mother gave her bad wine on purpose? “You get used to it, eventually. You’re going to have to, being a member of this family. It’s the only way to get through these awful parties.”
“You don’t like the parties?”
Her mother laughs again, and there’s a bitter note there that she hardly recognizes. “Goodness no. Does anyone?” Pacifica’s brows pinch together. Then why do we keep having them? She wants to ask. “Sweetheart, I know being a Northwest isn’t easy. When I first married your father, I was petrified by all of the… rules and systems. I was sure I’d never be able to learn all of it.”
Priscilla stares down into her own glass of wine, and Pacifica watches her face. There’s a slight flush to her cheeks and nose that Pacifica is familiar with after a lifetime of exposure. She must be drunk already, which is impressive, because her father strictly forbids cracking the wine open before dinner at parties. Day-drinking is a private pastime, something Pacifica supposes isn’t classy enough to be associated with the Northwests.
“But it’s for our own good, right? These are the things that we have to do to maintain our lifestyle. And isn’t that worth it?” This is not a light Pacifica has ever seen her mother in before. Never before in her life has she ever been given any reason to think that Priscilla might resent all of the conventions they’ve been forced into as much as Pacifica does. You just don’t get it, she’d told Dipper once, and maybe she doesn’t get it either.
“The day you were born, your father and I still hadn’t chosen a name for you,” her mother says, and if there was some segue into the topic, Pacifica missed it in her introspection. It seems more likely that there wasn’t any. “We knew that we wanted it to start with a ‘P’ because both of our names did. That’s the sort of opportunity that doesn’t come up very often, you know. We figured early on that you would be our only child, so we might as well make you stand out, right? But it was almost impossible to find a name suitably dramatic. And then you were born on Christmas and everything was so hectic, and we worried you were going to end up with no name at all.”
Pacifica settles back against the chaise and takes another sip from her wine, and she manages to ignore the taste for how interested she is in her mother’s story. “They put you in my arms and you immediately started crying, and I thought, ‘Great, she already hates me.’” She laughs, but there’s an edge to it, something that jabs painfully at Pacifica’s chest. “But after a minute you calmed down, and then you looked up at me with those big blue eyes, and I thought they looked just like the ocean. ‘The Pacific ocean,’ I thought, and then I grinned at your father. Pacifica Northwest. It sounded like an actress’ name. It was perfect.”
They stare at each other for a long, silent minute, and Pacifica’s brows furrow. What was the point of telling her this? Was there any point, or is it just some of Mom’s drunken rambling? Priscilla reaches out to grab a strand of her hair and opens her mouth to talk some more, but she’s cut off by Pacifica’s phone ringing, and Pacifica startles to angle the phone so the screen isn’t visible because she knows exactly who’s calling and her mother does not need to see. “I’ll let you get that. Cake in 30 minutes, okay sweetheart?”
“Okay,” she agrees, and her heart pounds with anxiety that she’s going to miss the call while she waits for Mom to leave the room before she answers. She almost drops the phone in her rush to finally hit the green button.
“Hey!” Dipper’s voice comes through a little tinny, which is a quality that Pacifica is used to when talking on the phone to anyone outside of Gravity Falls. She doesn’t know if there’s a scientific explanation, but it always feels like the rest of the world is just… dulled.
“Hey,” she says back, and whatever clawing sense of anxiety or discomfort had been lingering in her chest since Mom came into the room finally dissipates. “You’re early, I’m gonna have to go for cake and presents soon.”
“Your parents are giving you cake and presents?”
She snorts, bringing her hand up like she can catch the noise before it reaches him. “There’s still a whole party of people here to convince that we’re a happy family.”
“Ah, that explains it then,” he says, and she can hear the grin on his voice. He needs to get with the times and get a uPhone so she can see his face without going all the way upstairs to get on her computer. “So you don’t know which kind of sports car they got you yet?”
She laughs again as she hops up to her feet and starts the trek back to her room. “Oh please. They’re not going to get me a car. That’d be too much freedom. They couldn’t threaten not to let the chauffeur drive me to work anymore.” She rolls her eyes.
“They have to get you a car. It’s the whole sweet 16 package: Big fancy party with your big fancy dress, a bunch of bratty rich girls you can’t stand, and some luxury vehicle that costs more than my house. If they don’t get you a car, they don’t sell it.”
“Oh shut up,” she laughs, bedroom door swinging shut behind her. She glances at her bed for a second, but if she lays down, she’s not going to get up again, and as nice as the idea of falling asleep talking to Dipper sounds, there’s still the rest of the party to get through. As she sinks into her desk chair, she sighs and says, “Did you do anything for the holiday?”
“Oh, you mean Just Some Friday Day? Yeah, we got Chinese food and watched cheesy romcoms. I guess it’s sort of a stereotype, but I think that’s kind of why we do it in the first place? It’s hard to explain.”
“Just Some Friday Day, huh? Wow, so I mean nothing to you.” He practically cackles on the other end, and she grins.
“Right, how could I forget the most important holiday, Pacifica Northwest’s Birthday? That’s why all the banks were closed.”
“Damn straight. What would they even need to be open for? All of the people with money are in my living room.” Another laugh. She sinks back in the chair, pressing the power button on her desktop with her toes as she asks, “Can I call you on DistantChat?”
“Is that such a good idea with your parents still prowling around downstairs?” He asks, with a legitimate tinge of worry to his voice. “I mean, you know I always like seeing you, but I don’t wanna get you in trouble or anything.”
“Oh come on. It’s my birthday, they can’t yell at me for calling a friend. Plus, there’s too many people still here for them to yell at me.”
There’s a moment of hesitation, and then, “...Okay. Let me get my laptop.”
It takes a minute for him to get everything set up, and they stay on the phone while he does even though it’s mostly Dipper mumbling to himself and the rustling of pieces of paper on his desk. When he calls her, he’s in bed, and he’s not wearing that stupid hat for once, so she can see peeks of his birthmark through his fringe.
“You need a haircut,” is the first thing that comes out of her mouth, without any input from her on the matter, and he laughs.
“You sound like Grunkle Stan. That was the first thing he said when we picked him and Great Uncle Ford up at the docks for Channukah. Kid, you need a haircut.” His impression of his uncle is terrible, and it makes her laugh, throwing her head back and her hand over her mouth.
When she’s done, his cheeks are a little flushed, but she can’t really call him out on it because her cheeks are a little flushed, too, so they sit in silence for a minute. “I like the dress,” he says eventually.
The camera quality of the call isn’t great. In the video, the delicate white lace that makes it look as though there are flowers painted directly onto her chest and shoulders just look like blurry polka dots (where they’re even visible), and the lace stops being visible completely at the sweetheart neckline of the bodice portion of the dress. Not only that, but from the angle of the camera, the silky lavender band around her waist isn’t even visible, nor is the princess-style skirt that fluffs out down her body in an A-line that could give Princess Diana’s wedding dress a run for its money if it wasn’t only tea length. But, more importantly…
“Ugh, this? My mom picked it.”
“Well, as much as I hate to admit it, your mom was right. It looks really good on you,” he says, and she sees his cheeks flush a little darker. Again, not that she can say anything.
“...Thanks.” She still doesn’t love the dress, still wishes Mom had let her buy the hot pink one that was half the price, but it’s nice that Dipper likes it. She wants him to like her clothes.
They return to silence, and she thinks of all the things she’d like to say. She wants to joke that he should see how much better it’d look off of her. She wants to ask him what he got her for her birthday just to see his little panicked reaction. She wants to ask him if she can run away to his house in Piedmont and never come back.
Instead, she just watches his face. He always looks so tired these days, and she wonders if he ever sleeps at all if she’s not on the phone with him. She knows that sometimes he doesn’t get to sleep even when she is on the phone with him. Sometimes she wakes up and the time is still ticking on the call and he seems startled when she mumbles good morning.
“Pacifica!” Mom’s voice calls up the stairs, and she almost jumps out of her skin. “It’s time for the cake and the presents, dear,” she says, and the pet name makes her wrinkle her nose.
“I have to go,” she says. She’d rather do anything in the world than hang up, and she thinks it shows, because Dipper looks more than a little guilty.
“Sorry. I didn’t mean to just sit here staring at you,” he says, and if she didn’t have to go she’d probably tease him for it. “Let me know what kind of car you get. I bet it’ll be an Edison. Your dad is just like that guy.”
She laughs. “Can I call you again later? Like, for bed or… something?” She asks, speaking quickly so he can’t hear the desperation in her voice.
“Of course,” he says without even a second of hesitation, and it makes her chest squeeze with fondness.
She ends the call without saying goodbye. She usually does. She hates saying goodbye, and it’s not like she won’t talk to him later, anyway. Still, she lingers at her desk for an extra second after the call is over like she’s waiting for him to call her back and scold her for it or something. She knows that he won’t. Even though they joke a lot about how terrible she used to be, Dipper rarely takes it upon himself to correct her for her social missteps, not unless she directly hurts him or Mabel by it.
Her eyes slide down to her desk drawer, and with a paranoid glance at her door, she pulls it open.
Emancipation papers.
Printing them out had marked her very first use of the Gravity Falls Library, a service her parents believed was for poor people. Once they’re filed, she guesses that’ll be her. It’d be nice if they bought me a car before I was out of here.
“Pacifica! What are you doing up there? You’re keeping everyone waiting.”
She shoves the drawer closed and trudges back downstairs.
They don’t get her a car. Giving her that much control over her own life would be against the rules, wouldn’t it? But when she calls Dipper later that night, he assures her that she’s welcome to use his car whenever she wants once she gets out of there, and she knows that he means it.

CAGE & CORDELIA'S WEDDING OCTOBER 19, 2024
Themed with a little bit of rustic country glamour, the colors for Cage & Cordelia's wedding are cranberry and tones of peach and cream, with the flowers ranging from red sunflowers to roses, dahlias, peonies and hydrangeas, with others mixed into the arrangements. The ceremony is taking place on their countryside farm, with lots of natural wood and antique pieces, and beautiful fresh florals. | RECEPTION POST
In lieu of full wedding parties, the bride (Cordelia Newman) and groom (Cage Newman) chose to get ready with friends and family at their home. They were assisted by Sylvia Cuenco-Burke for hair, Elena Vazquez for make-up, and Nari Gim and Arturo Vasco for fashion assistance.
To start the ceremony, Colton Newman will walk his little sister, Rosalyn Newman down the aisle as she tosses flower petals. The bride chose to walk herself down the aisle to an instrumental version of Love Story, where the groom's brother, Kellan Newman will officiate the ceremony, and the bride and groom will share personal vows with one another. After sharing a kiss, the officiant is to invite everyone to stick around for the reception.
Photography will be handled by younger sister, Lucie Newman, and Stelly Carter. Live music provided by a local string band, and flowers were purchased from Lavender Lane. Special thanks to the gals of Memorable Affairs, Kennedy Warren & Eliana Vagh.
OOC THINGS: while we want this event to be as much fun for you guys as it is for us, we do ask that everyone please be respectful of the fact that this is a wedding, taking place on someone's private property! Cage & Cordelia's home is off limits, with only the mud room and first floor bathroom open to guests (there are portable bathrooms available). The barn and greenhouse are also off limits (for the safety of their animals / property). If you have questions about threads / plots, please message me personally -- we want this event to be a good time for everyone (IC & OOC), but also remain respectful of the purpose of the celebration. As usual, please tag socials to #merrocksocial, and outfits to #merrockfashion, but feel free to use our wedding tag, as well!
PLEASE USE THE HASHTAG #BUILDINGTHENEWMANS FOR ANY WEDDING POSTS.

I wish Eugenie's had been more artsy (like Kitty Spencer's dresses were).
Rajwa's was a mistake. Her Henna party dress set such high expectations.

WIP Wednesday - Antoinette
My Halloween mystery AU (borrowing a few ideas from Daphne du Maurier's Rebecca) will start posting on Monday 2nd October, so here's a little taster. The story is from femme!Aziraphale's point of view, and this scene is from a few chapters in, where we meet her new in-laws, shortly after a whirlwind wedding...
The butler had admitted two persons, and as I peeked down the corridor to see, I thought more mismatched persons I could not have imagined. The lady was tall, slender, precise, dressed in a grey tweed skirt suit and frilled white lace blouse; I knew in an instant that this was Gabriel’s sister Michelle, the similarity was born out in every line of her expression. The gentleman was short, plump, cheerful, in a cream outfit suited to boating on the Thames, and a pastel plaid cravat and pocket square. He had got himself a little tangled in his overcoat as the butler was attempting to take it from him, but was extricating himself from the sleeves with the utmost good will.
“Very well, Dagon, very well, and kind of you to ask,” he said, finally removed from his coat. “And how goes everything here at Sanderley, eh? I suppose old Sandy never changes, does it?”
“The household goes on very well, sir,” said Mr Dagon, his voice entirely flat.
“Well, some things change,” said Michelle, “since my brother must apparently be such an idiot as to marry a holiday fling. I’m not surprised he’s not home yet; I would not be surprised if he doesn’t show up for lunch at all; he knows I’ll have words for him. The shock you must have all had here! What’s she like, Dagon; what’s the damage?”
I knew the butler had spotted me, though he gave no sign of looking in my direction. “The new Mrs di Angelo arrived late yesterday,” he said, “and has been making herself acquainted with the house this morning.”
Much as I wished to hide until Gabriel came home, I knew that I should make myself look ridiculous by sneaking away now, and so I straightened my spine and adopted my most perfect smile, taking a few steps forward onto the reverberating marble of the great hall.
Mr Dagon turned in my direction. “Ma’am, your lunch guests have arrived.”
“Yes, of course. How lovely to meet you both. I’m terribly sorry Gabriel isn’t here yet; he must have been held up.”
Michelle gave me a hard, incalculable stare for two whole seconds, then burst into smiles of her own. “Oh! So you are my new sister! How wonderful to meet you!” She took my hand and kissed my cheek, and I wondered that her touch did not burn like acid. “I’m Gabriel’s sister Michelle Constable, but you know that, don’t you? And this is Murray – Murray, pay attention!”
Murray, who did appear to be paying attention, and was smiling at me in a manner that reminded me forcibly of a labrador puppy I had the pleasure of meeting once, shook my hand as well. “Wonderful to meet you,” he said, and I believed him to be quite sincere. “So glad Gabriel found himself a lovely thing like you!”
“Oh, well, I-” It was immediately as impossible to dislike Murray as it was to like Michelle, and the dichotomy was dreadfully confusing.
“Murray!” hissed Michelle, and then showed me that smile again; it looked as though it was operated by hooks in her cheeks. “Just like Gabriel to get caught up in something when I had told him what time to expect us! It would serve him right if we started lunch without him and ate all the best of it before he arrived. No, of course, we won’t, but do let us go through and sit, and you can tell me all about yourself. Dagon, have tea served, would you?”
She pulled me through the parlour out onto the terrace, where the sun was bright and cheerful and the rose garden smelled divine, and I understood with absolute clarity that Michelle had been raised here at Sanderley, knew it like she knew her oldest friends, and I would never be as at home here as she was.

we are adorable.
i'm still working on my secret wedding gift to my partner collecting commissions of us from different artists in various styles, sketches, colored, linework, paint, whatever!
if you see people open for commissions link them in the post comments or message me so i can check them out to see if i can add them to the budget. The above I made as a reference of our outfits and hair.
it's going to be a 8.5"x5.5" format with a different piece of art per page. I will happily accept art as gifts to add to the zine but mainly looking to pay artists for their commissions to build the book with as a hardbound keepsake for us for out October wedding, and as simple stapled zine versions for wedding guests if they want to take one home so that they can enjoy the art, and check out the artists sites as well.
Keep it secret, keep it safe. She doesn't know about the project and isn't on tumblr so i'd like to keep it a surprise to give her on our wedding day this year 2023. You can also shoot me an email of people open for commissions as well if you prefer. [email protected]
thanks!!!

𝐴𝑛 𝐴𝑢𝑡𝑢𝑚𝑛𝑎𝑙 𝐶𝑒𝑙𝑒𝑏𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 —
Providence Peak is invited to celebrate a day Providence Peak never thought it would see — the wedding of Emeline Cormier and Verda Durmaz. Despite recently already tying the knot, the two wanted the opportunity to celebrate with the friends and family they've made in the city that brought them back together once more. The wedding will have a cozy autumnal feel with the main portion of the wedding held overlooking the fall foilage of Providence Peak at the edge of a moutain and the reception following will take place at the base of the mountain with plenty of fires and blankets to keep everyone warm when they're not dancing. Be sure to stop by the guest book table and snap a polaroid before writing a note along with it and signing your name! The catered dinner will be an array of Turkish favorites served by The Silk Road and dessert will consist of wedding cake, mini pumpkin and apple pies, and warm hot chocolate courtesy of the Hot Cocoa Stop pop up truck. Omar Watson and Maximiliano Cortez of A Touch of Ink will be offering a special flash tattoo sheet courtesy of the brides during the reception with handpicked images by the brides themselves to give you something to remember the celebration forever. A reference to some of what will be offered at the reception.

Dubai’s pristine beaches, stunning sunsets, and luxurious beachfront venues create a magical setting for romantic beach weddings. Whether you’re dreaming of a barefoot ceremony on the sand or an elegant celebration by the water, planning a beach wedding in Dubai requires careful attention to detail. From selecting the perfect venue to capturing those dreamy photos, here are essential tips to ensure your beach wedding in Dubai is picture-perfect.
1. Choose the Right Time of Year
The weather in Dubai plays a crucial role in your beach wedding experience. The best time for a beach wedding is between October and April when the weather is cooler, and outdoor ceremonies are most comfortable.
• Ideal Time of Day: Sunset weddings are particularly popular, offering stunning lighting and cooler temperatures. Morning ceremonies can also be beautiful, with soft, natural light and a peaceful ambiance.
2. Select the Perfect Beach Venue Dubai offers a wide range of beachfront venues, from exclusive resorts to public beaches. Choose a location that aligns with your vision and guest list size. Here are some top options:
• Private Resorts: Venues like Atlantis, The Palm, and Jumeirah Beach Hotel offer private beaches, making them ideal for secluded and exclusive ceremonies.
• Luxury Beach Clubs: For a chic, modern vibe, consider venues like Nikki Beach Resort & Spa, which combine beachfront beauty with a stylish atmosphere.
• Public Beaches: For a more laid-back and budget-friendly option, public beaches like JBR Beach or Kite Beach can be customized with the right permits.
3. Plan for Guest Comfort Beach weddings require extra attention to guest comfort, especially considering Dubai’s warm climate. Here are some tips to ensure your guests have a great experience:
• Provide Shade: Rent umbrellas, tents, or canopies to create shaded areas for guests during the ceremony and reception.
• Cooling Stations: Set up hydration stations with infused water, cool towels, and fans to help guests stay refreshed.
• Appropriate Seating: Opt for comfortable seating like wooden chairs, benches, or even lounge furniture to fit the beach setting.
4. Beach-Friendly Wedding Attire Choosing the right attire is essential for a comfortable and beautiful beach wedding. Keep the location and weather in mind when selecting your outfits:
• For the Bride: Light, flowy fabrics such as chiffon, tulle, or lace are perfect for beach settings. Consider dresses with shorter trains or none at all to avoid dragging in the sand.
• For the Groom: Lightweight suits in fabrics like linen or cotton are ideal. Skip the tie and opt for a more relaxed look with an open-collar shirt.
• Footwear: Many couples choose to go barefoot or wear stylish sandals that are comfortable in the sand. Provide flip-flops for guests if needed.
5. Design a Beach-Friendly Ceremony Setup The ceremony setup plays a vital role in creating the perfect beach wedding ambiance. Here are some tips to enhance your ceremony space:
• Altar or Arch: A beautiful arch adorned with flowers, greenery, or flowing fabrics creates a stunning focal point for your ceremony. Driftwood or bamboo structures can add a natural, beachy feel.
• Seating Arrangement: Arrange seating in a semi-circle or scattered style to create an intimate and relaxed atmosphere. Use natural elements like shells or lanterns to decorate the aisle.
• Sound System: The sound of the waves can be romantic, but it can also drown out your vows. Invest in a good sound system with microphones to ensure everyone can hear.
6. Beach-Perfect Décor Ideas Incorporate beach-themed elements into your décor to enhance the seaside vibe. Keep it simple and elegant, with touches that reflect your style:
• Floral Arrangements: Use tropical flowers, greenery, and driftwood to create arrangements that are resilient to heat and wind.
• Natural Elements: Incorporate seashells, starfish, and sand as part of your centerpieces and ceremony décor.
• Lighting: Lanterns, string lights, and candles add a warm glow as the sun sets. Consider using hurricane vases to protect candles from the wind.
Start Planning Your Dream Beach Wedding in Dubai
A romantic beach wedding in Dubai combines the best of natural beauty, luxury, and personalized charm. By following these tips, you can create a picture-perfect day that captures the essence of your love story. From breathtaking views to unforgettable moments, your beach wedding in Dubai will be a celebration that you and your guests will cherish forever.

How Indian’s spend on Wedding?
The recent news of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s pre-wedding celebration has set the internet buzzing. Lavish decorations, A-list guests, and designer outfits – it’s a glimpse into the grandeur that often defines Indian’s spend on wedding. But for most of us, the reality of Indian wedding expenses is a far cry from such extravagance.
Introduction
So, how much do Indians typically spend on their weddings? Buckle up, because the answer can be as diverse as India itself! In India, there are two things people absolutely go out of their comfort zones to splurge. One is their child’s education and the other is their child’s marriage.
And anyone, who has ever attended an Indian wedding will agree that Indian parents always go far and beyond their earning capacity to ensure that their kids have an extravagant wedding.
According to a report by KPMG, “It’s estimated that the cost of an Indian wedding ranges between ₹500,000 to ₹50 Million. An Indian will likely spend one-fifth of his lifetime wealth on a wedding.”
This seasonal industry is dictated by a strict astrological calendar of auspicious and inauspicious days. The wedding industry is estimated to involve more than $11 billion in spending, concentrated from October to February. Some days are so auspicious that almost 17,000 weddings will be held in New Delhi alone.
The Infographic shows the total annual amount spent on different segments (from the lowest spent to the most spent).
Band/ Music – Rs 1000cr
Mehendi – Rs 1500cr
Photography – Rs 1500cr
Puja/Rituals – Rs 5000cr
Hotel – Rs 7000cr
Venue – Rs 10000cr
Invitation – Rs 10000cr
Furniture – Rs 30000cr
Clothing – Rs 50000cr
Jewellery – Rs 90000cr
Total Annual Spent – Rs 2,09,500cr
The Infographic shows per item cost per person
Dinner cost (average): Rs 700 to 2000 per person
Pandal decoration cost: Rs 10,000 to 25,000
Bridal designer saree/ lehenga cost: Rs 5,000 to 50,000
Designer Sherwani cost: Rs 15,000 to 40,000
Wedding invite cost: Rs 100 to 1500 per card
Bridal make up cost: Rs 5000 to Rs 50,000
Bridal Mehendi cost: Rs 1500 to Rs 5000
Donation/fee to priest, to advocate for marriage registration is separate.
The above Infographic image explains the difference between Indian Marriage v/s US Marriage in a presenting format.
The above shows the difference between wedding expenses and living expenses in both countries. The source informs that 30% of Americans will remarry spending more money on their second wedding. It also shows a histogram of data revealing the US GDP v/s Wedding market (INDIA).
The Divorce rate pie graph, arranged marriage pie graph and a forecast of the population will marry in the next 15 years.
Guests are the most important theme of marriage without it the celebration is incomplete. The above Infographic image shows how couples invited their guests during the pandemic 2020-2021 era – 76% of couples used WhatsApp to invite, 39% of couples used Physical Invites and 33% of couples Invited Guests in person.
Graphaize found this interesting Infographic pie chart which expresses the type of wedding ceremonies during the pandemic era 2020-21.
90% of the ceremonies had an In-Person ceremony with family/friends.
5% of it had a fully virtual ceremony.
3% of that went to Register their marriage.
And the rest 3% simply had a court marriage.

Wedding Info
Here is a list of important bits of information and things Seth and I believe will be questions from people. If we think of additional information, we will edit this post or make a separate post.
To start off - being a guest. This wedding has a limited number of "official guests." Being an Official Guest means you will receive free parking, free admission into the park, participation in a walking parade before the wedding ceremony, a seat at the wedding ceremony, a seat at the 2-hour reception (which will include food), and a seat for royal joust seating for 1 show. If you are not an official guest (you received a discount code for 30% off a ticket), that means we would love to see you on our wedding day, but sadly we ran out of guest spots for the ceremony and reception. We will be at the Renaissance Park all day, so after the reception, we will be available to meet and talk!! If it is important for you to see us on our wedding day, you are invited as an "unofficial guest", and sadly cannot sit in the church during the ceremony or have a designated place at the reception. If you are unsure which one you are (official or unofficial), please reach out to Seth or Ally! We love to see anyone and everyone! Here is where you can buy tickets - https://www.bigtickets.com/e/renfestival/2023ORF/
BE ON TIME - The coordinators at the Renaissance Park have made it very clear to be on time - the ceremony will start AT 11 AM SHARP, whether everyone is ready or not. If you do not want to walk in the parade, you are more than welcome to go straight to the church and wait there for everyone else to file in.
Arrival - Since this is happening during the last weekend (on a Saturday, no less) there are going to be a lot of people and a lot of traffic. We highly suggest arriving early so no one is late. We always take a back entrance by the Brimstone Haunt and it ALWAYS has saved us from a long line at the front gate with all the people coming off of the interstate. You'll know if it is the right route if you check your directions and it has you follow State Route 380 and County Road 52 before having you follow Brimstone Road. There will be a road to your right, just past a house after a curve in the road - that is where you can enter. It may look like you cannot or that you're entering for Brimstone Haunt - but we promise it will get you to the same parking lot. I'm sure there will be a lot of people waiting in line for admission - SKIP THE LINE. If you're facing the front entrance/ admissions gate, there should be three arches/ doorways. Go all the way to the far right and inform them you are there for our wedding - they should let you enter. There should be a sign there that says ORFANS and WEDDINGS, that’s the entrance you want! To my knowledge, they should let you in a little before the park opens.
Attire - We would LOVE for everyone to dress up!!!! But, we also understand that Renaissance outfits can be difficult, expensive, and or uncomfortable. It is far more important to us that you feel comfortable - if being in a costume will make you feel self-conscious/anxious/nervous/too out of place (we promise though, PLENTY of people dress up) then please wear something formal-casual. If you would like ideas for what kinds of outfits fit the Renaissance Festival Themes, check out themed weekends here (Renaissance Fest Home) and feel free to make a look based on any of those themes! Our wedding colors are technically Blue and Silver, but no one has to follow that by any means! We know making an outfit for this can be difficult, and we would rather people make/buy an outfit they can wear for Halloween/ another Renaissance festival rather than for our wedding only - if you're going to put time into your look, make it one you feel comfortable wearing again! We do ask that people dress semi-formal, but please check the weather ahead of time. This festival and wedding is outside with no AC, and since it is at the end of October, the weather should be anywhere from HOT to COLD (or, what we’re hoping, a happy medium with a slight chill), or even rainy/ muddy!
Tips for outfits – Often a costume shop or even a thrift store will have some great shirts, vests, shoes, belts – whatever you are looking for! Layers do wonders for pulling a Renaissance outfit together. Often, boots with dark pants and a peasant shirt are all you need! Many people at the park do a “watermelons vs pumpkins” war (watermelons are if you are a summer person - pumpkins if you are a fall person) and people will build whole outfits around that! You are more than welcome to do with an outfit that expresses that! If you want to be serious about for outfit, going to the Renaissance Fair during a weekend before the wedding will lend many (albeit sometimes expensive) costume opportunities! Also, if you plan to bring a sword/ weapon, it MUST STAY SHEATHED and TIED so that it cannot be pulled out.
Hotel/ Lodging – There is a hotel off of I71 that is only about 15 minutes away from the Renaissance Festival, however, the last time we checked it was booked up. Apparently, there is a dog show and some kind of other festival happening that weekend, so we recommend looking elsewhere or looking into an Airbnb.
Wedding Gifts/ Registry – While it is so kind and generous that people wish to give us gifts, we currently have 0 space in our current apartment for new things. On top of this, the reception is only 2 hours (ending at 1:30 PM) and the next wedding starts at 2:00 PM – so we will not have time to open and move gifts. Seth and I’s top priority right now is finding a house – and for as impersonal as it is, any extra money we receive is going towards a down payment for a home, so money as a gift is very directly helpful to us. Despite all this, we do have a registry, although there is not much on it (some of the items are jokes that Seth threw in haha!) It can be found here - https://www.amazon.com/wedding/registry/2WYBMHXEEJECN?ref=wr_search_page_result_1
Map of Park - The park gives out free maps when you enter, but if you would like to be prepared, here is a map with some important places circled and numbered. https://imgur.com/a/nFeBpNy Number 1 marks where the from gate is, and where everyone will be entering. Number 2 is the location of our reception (right beside/behind the Aleing Knight Pub). Number 3 is St. Peters Church, and it is where the ceremony will be held! As a warning, THE CHURCH IS UPHILL.
Being at the festival – The Park offers 3 places where there are drinking fountains, but the water is not usually ice cold (but it is free!). It is a good idea to come with cash. Many places accept cards, however, the devices for running cards are sometimes very slow. There are ATMs at the Festival, but I do believe there is a service fee. It is also a good idea to bring a bag for sunglasses/ sunscreen if it is hot, and an umbrella if it is rainy.
Bathrooms – Many of the bathrooms are merely porta-potties, but there are some that have running water! All should have baby-changing stations and a place to wash your hands and or sanitize them. I always bring hand sanitizer, just in case!
Anything else? – If there is anything else you can think of that you would like more information about, please reach out to me or Seth through text or calling! This blog also has an ask feature, so you can use that to ask a question as well!
Thank you for reading and we cannot wait to see you on our big day!!!

Amazon Summer Dresses!
Summer is almost here and I can’t wait to start wearing some cute summer dresses! I have been seeing a lot of great ones so I figured I would share a few that I am thinking about ordering! Links shared as always!
1. PRETTYGARDEN Women's Casual Summer Midi Dress Puffy Short Sleeve Square Neck Smocked Tiered Ruffle Dresses
This dress looks beautiful!!! I saw this shared on an influencers page and I immediately added it to my Amazon shopping list! I personally love the blue, but it comes in a ton of different colors and actually there are some different patterns as well. I love this style of dress because it is so flattering and very comfortable. The length looks great, and it also has really good reviews. This would be great to wear to a Bridal/Baby Shower or even to a summer wedding!
Link: https://amzn.to/421Xts1
2. PRETTYGARDEN Women's Floral Summer Dress 2023 Knot One Shoulder Sleeveless Ruffle Hem Flowy Boho Maxi Dresses
Another beautiful dress! I love the pattern and the neckline of this dress! The length would be perfect to show off some super cute shoes, too! This dress would be a great summer wedding guest dress and its under $50! There are many different colors and even some just solid color options. It is considered an “Amazon Choice” and seems to have fast shipping, which would be helpful if you needed a cute outfit last minute!
Link: https://amzn.to/3oZRjv0
3. ZESICA Women's 2023 Summer Casual Sleeveless Crew Neck Smocked High Waist Flowy Tiered A Line Midi Dress
This would be the perfect dress for really any occasion. It can be dressed up or just thrown on to do some quick running around errands. Another great neckline that is flattering and comfy. The back ties at the top for an easy on/off. There are a good amount of colors and some options have some cutouts on the side for a little extra.
Link: https://amzn.to/43arBD5
4. Chuanqi Womens Ruffles Boho Floral Printed Babydoll Loose Swing Casual Short Mini T-Shirt Dress
There are so many things I love about this dress! It is so simple but very cute! I’m normally not a fan of yellow but I think this combination makes it a perfect summer dress and would be a great dress to wear in September and possibly October! It’s a shorter option but the sleeves balance it out. This would be perfect to wear to church on a nice summer day or even to School once it picks back up (dare I even mention the thought of back to school😬). The baby doll style with the ruffle sleeves gives it a great girly style. There are lots of different color options and even different patterns! With the price under $35, this would be a great dress to have in a variety of colors!! Also, would be a great summer “bump friendly” style!!
Link: https://amzn.to/3Nim6wt
5. ZESICA Women's 2023 Summer Casual Floral Print Short Flutter Sleeve Crew Neck Smocked High Waist Flowy Maxi Dress
There are so many things I love about this dress! First, the color!! Lavender seems to be really popular right now and I love it! You can wear it in spring, summer, and even transition it into fall! But if you aren't into the lavender trend, don't worry, because there is a good amount of other color options! Second, you will be able to dress this up or down for a more casual look! It You could throw on a pair of flats or cute heels! I also really love the style of this dress. It looks comfortable and flowy but also elegant. This is a dress that you could definitely be comfortable in all day! And then you will probably want to order it in different colors!

The Magic of a Wedding Photoshoot: Tanisha & Sushant's Love Story
Pre-Wedding shoot at Rishikesh
At Wedding Photo Planet, we understand that pre-wedding photoshoots have a different emotional corner in a couple’s heart. That’s why our team gives emphasis on the quality of your memories rather than the quantity. This couple chose Rishikesh as the best destination for their pre-wedding photoshoot. And why not, Rishikesh is such a marvelous and gorgeous destination. Its gorgeous range of mountains and lush greenery provides a perfect backdrop to the couple’s pre-wedding shoot. Their photoshoot was done in October 2022. The couple was dressed perfectly and the outfits were in cute twinning. The groom was wearing a light blue men’s suit while on the other hand, the bride was dressed in a stunning light blue suit. The overall shoot went great and our experience with this sweet couple was divine. Up next was the wedding and ritual shoot.
Haldi and Mehndi Ceremony
After the pre-wedding shoot, it was time for the Ring and Mehndi ceremony of the couple. Both ceremonies were held on the same day. The couple was dressed in adorable yellow traditional outfits. The couple looked very cute together. The friends and family of the couple were really happy and very excited about their wedding. Our team of expert photographers and videographers was able to capture every candid moment in their photos and videos. The smiles on their faces were unbeatable. The venue for the ceremonies was “Kohli Regency” in Gurgaon. They offered various great and surprising prompts for the couple. For example, a cute yellow seating prompt for both the groom and the bride. The venue was beautifully decorated. Flowers and greenery were used everywhere, spreading harmony all over the venue. The photoshoot went great as always and the couple got one step closer to their wedding day.
Engagement ceremony
The engagement of the couple was held on the same night as the Haldi and Mehndi. The venue was also the same. The couple showed up in new outfits a shiny black formal tuxedo for the groom and a beautiful off-white lehenga. The smiles and excitement of the couple and the guests were unbeatable. Everybody at the venue was giving the couple their best wishes for their upcoming future. The glow on the face of the couple was unbeatable and the forum got filled with positive and beautiful vibes. Our talented team of cameramen was able to capture every moment of the event. The venue was great and beautiful. The venue offered excellent indoor arrangements for the guests. The venue is capable of accommodating a large number of guests. All the friends and relatives of the couple gave them blessings and wished for a bright future.
The Wedding Day
Before the wedding ceremony, there are two major and important events that are “Parlour Shoot” and the “Sehrabandi”. The parlor shoot of the bride was done at “Pooja Sonik” in Gurgaon. The makeup artists enhanced the beauty of the bride with their skills. The bride was dressed in a Maroon lehenga that gave a graceful look to her beauty. On the other hand, the groom was getting ready for the sehrabandi event. The family of the groom first went to the temple to take the blessings and then the baraat departed for the venue. The venue was the same as the previous events but was decorated even more beautifully than before. The lights were illuminating and the flowers were blooming as decoration. Our highly skilled Photographers and videographers captured all the beautiful and candid moments from the event with their cameras. Now, finally, it was time for the big event. The bride with her adorable look reached the venue, and the event was flooded with emotions and beautiful vibes. Both the groom and the bride were emotional and happy. Their emotional faces made the images even more memorable and divine. The rest of the event went perfectly and the friends and family of the groom and bride gave them best wishes and blessings.
This was our experience at Tanisha and Sushant’s. The couple was really adorable and cooperative at the shoots and our team worked closely with them so that we can provide them with the best collection of memories. If you also want your wedding memory to last forever in photos and videos, it will be our pleasure to serve you. Give us a chance and if you wish to know more about us and our packages, don’t forget to contact us through any social media app.

E is for Embrace...
October 5.
The day had snuck up on Snow. For the past several years, she'd felt the date like an approaching drumbeat, getting louder and louder with each page she turned on her planner. She felt the same about certain other dates, unimportant to everyone but her. May 1st -- her parents' wedding. February 27th-- her mother's birthday.
And October 5.
When she woke up this morning, her whole body felt heavy with guilt, as though the feeling had drenched her like rain. It didn't go away either. Not as she checked guests out with a smile, then checked guests in. Not when she approved the dinner menu. Not when she turned over the beds.
Eventually, it was late afternoon and she sat in her office, staring at an open email with just two words at the top. She couldn't get past them.
Dear Baba,
He probably didn't even want to hear from her at this point, did he? The tears finally welled over, slipping quietly down her cheeks.

October 31st 1985
The music pounds through your ears as you open the door covered in cobwebs and cheap looking skeleton ornaments. Your eyes shift through the house, searching for Steve, your best friend and partner in crime, but he’s nowhere to be seen.
You clutch your sides and cross your arms, waiting for the host to come to the door. However, it’s not Jason who comes to greet you.
The tall, short haired girl with brown hair, dressed in blue jeans, a purple and yellow top and a leather jacket with a soft fabric hat on her head dances slowly towards you, stumbling over her feet. Her pale skin glowing in the orange, pumpkin shaped lights.
She trips over her converse shoes and almost crashes into you, her arms stop her from falling on top of you. She has an arm either side of you, her face inches away from your own. And you’re trying not to notice it, but the way your heart races tells you more than words ever will, and tells you that maybe your attraction towards her was maybe more than just a crush.
“Oh uh, hey, Y/N! Sorry about that. I must’ve tripped and I think Steve or Dustin or somebody tied my shoelaces together when I was getting a drink or when I was changing the music and— oh God I ruined your costume! I’m so sorry!” She shrieks.
“It’s okay, Robin. Trust me.”
“You’ve got me falling for you already, Y/N— I mean… Um…” she says, steadying herself against the wall next to you.
A squeal can be heard from behind the girl, a blonde-haired girl in a witches outfit came barging towards you and and the girl who stole your heart. The thief!!
She announces it’s time for Karaoke, and your mind races about what song you should sing. Maybe your own rendition of Uptown Girl by Billy Joel?
The stranger grabs your wrist and drags you into Jason’s living room. A microphone stand and Karaoke machine had been set up in the centre of the room with speakers surrounding it.
“Y/N and Robin want to sing together!” Steve Harrington called from within the kitchen, causing you to blush profusely. What is he doing? Is he telepathic? “Summer Nights by John Travolta and Olivia Newton John!”
“Steve!” Robin whined, before turning to you. The song began to pump through the music player and into the ears of every party guest. “Let’s just give it our best shot.”
“Summer lovin’ had me a blast.”
“Summer lovin’ happened so fast.”
“I met a girl crazy for me.”
“Met a girl cute as can be,” you sing, smiling like the Cheshire Cat as you look at her.
You and Robin link arms and begin dancing like nobody's watching, having fun. After the song comes to an end, you turn to put the microphone back on the stand, but Robin won’t let you.
“One more! Please!!”
You roll your eyes, laughing, and take hold of the microphone again. You and Robin begin screaming at the top of your lungs like hyenas to Material Girl by Madonna, prancing around the room. You twirl around with each other and laugh until your stomachs hurt. It’s the most fun you have both had in a long time, considering recent events that occurred in Hawkins.
Robin’s tune is awful but she doesn’t care. She made a new friend and that’s all that matters to her. You take off your cat ears and her hat and swap them around so now you’re a cat in the hat. And Robin is a cat in denim… It doesn’t have the same ring to it though.
The host, Jason Carver, finally enters the room and shouts at everyone to shut up. You assume he would have been off fucking his girlfriend upstairs but in reality she was out in the bushes with the local ‘freak’. But to be honest you have no idea why he’s labelled as the freak, he’s kind, caring, and is good with kids. How does that scream freak?
“I’m Robin, by the way,” Robin said, smiling, opening her arms to give you a hug. The most risky thing she’s ever done.
You embrace her for a few seconds, inhaling the soft scent of earthy perfume on Robin’s jacket, and you can feel her heart thumping hard in her chest.
“Y/N,” you breathe out, trying to catch your breath.
Out of the blue, Chrissy entered the living room, her hair a mess, wearing a leather jacket that certainly wasn’t Jason’s. “What are you?” You asked, looking at her outfit.
“I’m a mouse, duh!” She giggles, pointing to the mouse ear headband on her head.
“Oh god,” you say, slapping your palm to your forehead. “How much have you had to drink?”
“Just water.”
“So Eddie fucked you dumb, huh?” You laughed.
“Shut uppp, Y/N!” Chrissy whined, a smile reaching her eyes.
Your attention became set on the microphone again, where Steve takes his place. The next hour consisted of him attempting to freestyle some songs, couples running off and locking doors behind them, and the rest of you having a good time.
As the clock strikes 2am you decide it’s time to head home. As you start to leave, Robin catches up to you and spins you around with a dopey smile on her face.
“Oh, hey Robin!”
“I um… I wanted to give you something before you leave in case we never see each other again…” Her expression was unreadable.
Everybody else gets called into the living room so you and Robin are left alone in the hall at the door. Her eyelids flutter shut as she leans in closer to her, placing one of her hands on your hip.
Her lips brush yours with a newfound confidence and your mind explodes into a million particles. Your lips immediately curl into a smile so she kisses your teeth by accident.
She laughs and waits for your smile to calm down. You press your lips to hers and you both fall into the same void of a dream.
“I had a great time at this party, thanks to you, Y/N,” Robin says, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear, taking a moment to press a small kiss to the tip of your nose.
October 31st 1986
Senior year of Highschool, Steve decides to throw a Halloween party. This time it’s themed based on horror movies.
You and Robin hop out of the car and link arms on your way into the door.
“This is where it all began,” you say, playing with the cat ear headband in Robin’s hair.
It’s been nine months since you two started dating and a full year since you met. You decided to celebrate in style and do a full rerun of the night you met.
You swish in your dress while you dance with your girlfriend. When you stop dancing, Robin quirks an eyebrow and looks directly into your eyes.
“I like you. Like, I really like you!” She shouts over the music, brightening your mood and making your heart flutter.
“I really like you too, Pocket Rocket!”
Robin blushes at the nickname, remembering why you call her that. Always full of energy, always lifting everyone’s spirits up, her golden retriever energy…
Your song begins to play. Summer Lovin’, thanks to Steve who puts it on. Again. And is currently planning your and Robin’s wedding.
After a whole lot of dancing, singing and laughing, you sprawl onto a sofa next to each other. Robin with her arm around you, pulling you close and gently kissing your forehead.
When the party’s over, you decide to both sleep in Steve’s house as neither of you have a lift and Steve has a spare room. Neither of you drank at the party as you were too distracted by each other, and that smile that permanently etched itself into Robin’s soft lips.
Robin takes your hand and leads you to the bedroom door, backing you up against the wall as she kisses you. Just like she did on the day you met.
You wave off Steve as he said goodnight, and he waves back, a proud smile on his face, telling you everything you needed to know. He was the one who ‘set you up’ with Robin on the night you met.
“I’m just going to get some water,” Robin said, scurrying out of the room and up the stairs where there certainly wasn’t a kitchen. Most likely to gush about you to Steve and Nancy who are getting ready for bed in Steve’s room.
As soon as she arrives back into the room, Robin flops onto her back on the bed next to her girlfriend and snuggles into her. He pulls a blanket over you both and slots a movie into the TV.
Her eyes become droopy as she tries to watch Scream. Wrapped up in the blanket together, Robin falls asleep in seconds.
And you both can’t wait until next Halloween.
