On this day, October 15
In 2022: My Chemical Romance performed their 57th show of the 2022-2023 Swarm tour in Inglewood, California, USA. At this show, Gerard Way wore a custom designed Dracula outfit, and four tally marks were drawn on the drums. The majority of the songs performed at this show were from their fourth album, "Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys". (🖤)

Because I'm 15 months into the same WIP, I thought it might be good to actually define some writing goals for myself. Particularly goals that are fully within my control. So, here they are! Gamified because it's more fun that way ;)
The Main Quest Line -- Can We Keep Her (Lucifer fic)
Publish 8069 more words to make Can We Keep Her twice as long as my next longest fic (change the currents of Turn Left @ 76,465 words)
NanoWrimo Challenge (50k words without counting editing/rewrites this year)
Reach the Third Act
Finish the story
Side Quests:
Publish 4 more Lucifer fics to tie my Warehouse 13 works (current totals: 8 and 12 respectively)
Publish 15 more fics of any fandom to hit 100 fics on AO3
Seasons of Drabbles Exchange fall round
Host a "First Comment" event for the Lucifer fandom (goal: to comment on fics that currently have zero comments)
These aren't SMART goals, because I'm not putting deadlines on any of it. But fic shouldn't be held to corporate world standards anyway 😜 At least this gives me controllable stats to focus on.

I thought the october curse was gonna be skipped this year based on the fact I got a job on the first day but like. it turns out that was the bad luck disguising itself at good news and it's just another normal october
#i think a lot about how july 2020 was mediocre and july 2021 was one of the worst months of my life#and i made it known that i didn't trust july anymore. and it must've taken that as constructive criticism and my god it listened to me#bc then july 2022 was one of the best months of my life#and the two julys since have been pretty good as well#like that is so nice from july what a good friend#CANNOT say the same for october. like since 2014 every single one has been significantly terrible (except 2015 and maybe 2018)#2014 depressed. 2016 no friends depressed. 2017 giving nothing. 2019 dropped from what was a really good year#2020 like every mental illness known to man. 2021 All the horrors happening at once. 2022 the aromantic's worst nightmare#2023 was just awful#and then 2024's theme is having an absolutely miserable job after like 15 months of unemployment#i only get 3 days off and i can't even enjoy them bc i know what they're leading to#my shifts are too short to be allowed breaks but way too long for that to be comfortable#there've been times the day before a shift when i think about going and end up feeling nauseous and that's never even happened before lol#i get paid in like week apparently so i might try and wait until then but like#also the worst part is it's basically what i did when i was 17 (kitchen porter/assistant/whatever) so i keep comparing them#except there were parts of that job i enjoyed like the dishwasher and the cool shower looking tap and doing the plates and cutlery etc#and also the people i worked with. and the shifts weren't too bad. and i had a glorious hyperfixation#anyway this job is none of those things it's actually all the things i specifically disliked about the other one lol#i miss the dishwasher she was so cool. i miss the hyperfixation i had in 2017 (but when do i not)#but yeah i guess the only advantages of this job is I'll have money again and it's more motivation to look for another job#once again wishing i was 17 bc she wasn't happy and had no friends or aim in life but she listened to a lot of music so#idk why i always get addicted to 2017 nostalgia maybe bc it was such a mediocre year#like if i start wishing I was 13 or 15 or 19 or 22 I'm just gonna get depressed bc they were so good#but there's no reason for me to want to be 23 or 20 or 16 or 14 bc like. what is there to want about those#but 17 is so average it's like a low enough standard or something idk. anyway#ramble

the biggest scam in personal organization is agendas that are 15 or 18 months but they don't offer the same style of calendar that picks up where the others leave off so if you want to keep using the same system, you're still buying a new one every 12 months and wasting 3-6 months' worth of pages because there's no option to just buy a 12 month version
#jan 2024-june 2025? ok cool but will you have the exact same agenda format in july 2025-dec 2026? no? fuck you then#also: wtf is with the ones starting in OCTOBER?#school year agendas I understand#but an october start?#when there's no version that ends in september?#money grubbing illogical little shits#i just want to replace my 18-month agenda that the mice chewed with a 12-month version#but it only comes in 15 or 18 months#and there's no version of either that picks up where those ones leave off#so while i *can* get a jan 2024-june 2025 agenda to replace my jan 2022-june 2023 agenda#i won't be able to get a july 2025-dec 2026 version#and yeah sure probably my planning needs will change by then#but i really really like the size & layout & features of this agenda & it should work no matter my life circumstances#and i'd like to know that i won't have to waste 6 months of paper or go agenda-less for 6 months

so after a very slow year of reading i think i finally got my groove back cause i just finished reading like 5 books within a week
#granted one i had read during october and finished it in november#the other was a graphic novel the other was a play and the other two were novellas#BUT#up until this week i had read like#15 books during the year#meanwhile last year i finished 2022 at the 102 mark#so i'm happy
