Really? I’m honoured, Thronè.
Consider yourself a member of our team.
-🍎
Hah, alright then. Don't tell me there's eight of you too, is there? That makes us more than octopath travelers.
Maybe we can fight Galdera again someday, because that thing's already popped up twice in a lifetime, how long will it be for a third?

ok then
SO,
ok general premise-setting first. this au is based on the jrpg Octopath Traveler II (only 2 because I'm still in the middle of playing the first one-), where, you have 8 playable "heroes", each with their own story and their own "job" aka character class (stuff like Warrior, Magw, Rogue, Healer etc etc), which you form a party with.
This au is basically like. Generic Fantasy RPG au but with some Ocotpath styling--in the sense that there are multiple protagonists/storyline + I make the job classes have more in-lore ties.
The current lineup thus far is
Party A: Rouge, Shadow, Knuckles, Sonic
Party B: Amy, Tails, Blaze, Silver
out of these 8, only the SSS have a "solid" backstory. Everyone else is in the works. Let me run them down:
Shadow: A Warrior from the desert region of Hinoeuma. One of the royal army's finest soldiers, who has only ever followed orders without question. He has a younger sister, Maria (ofc), who is sick with an unknown illness that's been plaguing the kingdom for a long time. While Shadow was away on a military campaign, Maria passes away from her illness. This makes Shadow start to question what he's living for. He leaves the royal army (being branded the traitor in the process), and goes out on a journey to find a purpose--as well as a cure for the plague Maria died from.
Sonic: A Dancer/Thief who makes his living in the region of the Brightlands as a street performer by day. By night he is a Robin Hood-esque thief. He lives with his adoptive younger brother, Tails. Though, the inciting incident for their story is Sonic being kidnapped and being taken to the opposite side of the world. He goes out on a journey to find out who kidnapped him and why (since his robin hooding isn't that notorious), as well as to reunite with his little bro.
Silver: A cleric who was adopted and raised by a local church in the Crestlands. After an accident involving dark magic, he gets banished/excommunicated and roams the land in search of companionship and a way to fix his mistakes and be accepted back into the only home he's ever known.
Silver's probably had the most development thus far! His arc revolves around the theme of "Absolution" because it's perfect, and also "how cults target vulnerable people". He becomes disillusioned with the church too hard that he ends up in a cult instead thanks to Mephiles. Iblis is also here and is Silver's final boss.
There's a whole thread running through Mephiles, Iblis, Solaris, and Blaze that Silver gets involved in :]
anyways I don't have anything else too concrete at the moment so have this sketch of Cleric Silver
i could be rambling like a madman right now but no one would understand (<- thinking about Sonic Octopath au)
#rey rambles#Silver's being a cleric (very support-oriented + healer) and him having no friends? it's fit perfectly#for Shadow I kinda want to lean into that part of his lore where he was made primarily to help cure Maria's condition#Sonic's just kinda vibing#he's out here doing modern breakdance moves in pre-industrial era medieval fantasy

Hahahaha.
You're going to judge me on my music choices a bit and find out who I listen to but you're going to see a lot of sad songs in Hollow Cleric au playlist.
Also you're going to find a lot of common songs in the playlists because some of them overlap for good reasons.
A good example being, you finding "Ship In A Bottle" in all the playlists because boy oh boy. That's a song that's made for so many characters in Ocotpath Traveler
Hey Bean, what are your opinions on me making playlists for my aus

Is Octopath Traveler a good game to buy? (I’d like to hear your opinion c:)
I will never turn down an opportunity to talk about Octopath Traveler. It is one of my favourite games ever. I have no idea how much you know about it, so feel free to skip over some sections.
Let’s start with Mechanics.
If you like turn based RPG games this is an excellent one. There are 8 characters, each has their own action. You can challenge people to fights, steal or buy items, guide or charm npcs to temporarily join the party, or inquire to gather information. Some of the dialogue from these can be hilarious.
The combat system is fun and resembles most turn based RPGs. There is a class system. Initially each character has one class. As per typical RPGs they all have different specialities. There are clerics, thieves, warriors, mages, etc. A little further into the story you can unlock secondary classes for the travellers, allowing you to have whatever combination you want. Want Ophilla to be a warrior cleric? Go for it! Want Cyrus to be a dancer mage? You can do that too. These secondary classes can be changed whenever you want. The characters learn the skills of that class and those skills can be equipped regardless of what class they are in.
Next let’s talk about the best part in any game, the characters.
You pick one character to be your leader/main character who is always in your party. Each character has their own story. There are 8 of them to experience as you play through the game. You can do the stories in whatever order you want. There are suggested party levels to give you an idea on the difficulty. For the characters themselves, I love all of them. I do have favourites, namely Cyrus and H’annit. Characters who I felt neutral about, or even Therion who was by far my least favourite, I came to actually liking him as the game progressed. One of my favourite parts of the game is the banter between characters. I wish there had been more of it. When you are playing through chapters of a character’s story, travellers will have conversations together. Again I wish there was more of it but it’s how I came to like all of the characters because you see different sides of them in these interactions. To trigger the events you need to have certain characters in your party but there are a ton of guides on this so you don’t need to miss any of them by accident.
The voice acting is great. It’s a shame it isn’t fully voiced but most classic RPGs aren’t. Cyrus makes so many dumb puns that made me laugh too hard. (He’s a professor and says ‘time to teach you a lesson’. A victory one is ‘you should’ve studied harder.’ There are so many and it had no right to be this funny.)
I forgot to mention that each secondary class a character equips changes the clothes they wear, which is fun.
To the more aesthetic side of things.
The music in this game is INCREDIBLE! The character theme songs, the regional music, the battle music, are all amazing. I love old sprite art but I wasn’t sure how I felt about playing a game entirely in that style. It doesn’t get old I really enjoyed it. It gives the game a classic nostalgic feel. The world map is divided into territories which have towns and cities. They are frosty wintery areas, costal area, etc. I really enjoyed all the different places you could go. This game also has fast travel so you can go back to any town you’ve visited whenever you want.
(I’m almost done I swear!)
This got a bit lengthy but Octopath Traveler is a game I adore on so many levels. It has a classic feel of an RPG but with some twists that allow it to stand out. If you want to try it and get a feel for it, there is a demo for it on the Switch. It also won some game awards, all well deserved. I hope this helped. Ocotpath Traveler is a game I have went back to many times. It’s been magical and amazing each time. I listen to the music all the time. It’s a wonderful game I have honestly enjoyed so much.
#answers#I hope this helps anon I got a little carried away because I love this game#I have too many caps it was hard to pick a few 😂#this is a really long post I'm sorry#writing this has made me we want to play this game again#if you have any other questions or anything let me know and I'll try to answer them

How to master the Octopath Traveler battle system
Having trouble with a boss battle in Ocotpath Traveler? Here's everything you need to know about the battle system to beat any battle! Octopath Traveler has one of the most rewarding and deep battle systems I've had the pleasure of using in a JRPG in quite a while. While it certainly seems simple enough on the surface, there's a lot of quirks and small details about the battle system that game tutorials don't explain. Don't worry though, I'm here to help. Here's my guide to making the battle system work for you and not against you! Find enemy vulnerabilities quickly This may sound like a no-brainer, but it can be a little hard to remember when you're in the middle of a battle. When you attack an opponent with a weapon or magic type that it's vulnerable too, you will weaken its shield. Weaken its shield to zero and you will "break" an enemy causing them to fall out of the turn order of their current turn, lose their next turn, and during that time, become more susceptible to dam... https://goo.gl/yg63ym

Octopath Traveler First Impressions
Have you been craving a classic turn based JRPG with a style and look that reminds you of the good old days? A JRPG that is deep and rich with content and story, and multiple characters and skill to master and learn. Well, allow me to introduce you to Octopath Traveler! Octopath Traveler is the newest game from Acquire and Square Enix, best know for their Bravely series, in which you pick on of eight protagonists to follow along their tales. Each of the eight protagonists have vastly different skills and magic abilities, and can wield unique types of weapons. The heroes also have a special ability that allows them to interact with different characters and gain something from each. Some heroes might be able to gain some extra experience and items, while others can gain info on enemies or even additional party members! All the heroes have different personalities, styles and goals that seem to make each playthrough vastly different from one another. From the characters, to the BEAUTIFUL world, to the GREAT pixel work, Octopath Traveler has much potential!
Speaking of the world, Octopath Traveler’s world is BEAUTIFULLY crafted! As I adventured through the lands, I couldn’t help but stop and stare at all the detail done to the environments! Orsterra is such a living world, and it truly brings wonder to me that Acquire was able to put so much love into this game! Not to mention each area is packed full on hidden nooks and crannies to find hidden areas and chests! The characters and enemies deserve to be placed on this pedestal too! The heroes, the enemies, even the npcs are done superbly, filled with much personality in just 16-bits! This game is also mostly voice acted too, and the VOs did an excellent job! This was actually surprising to me, a typical retro looking JRPG doesn’t need or even bother with VOs, so it was charming to hear the characters speak! The combat is what you would expect, turn based strategies! Each enemy has weakness that can be drawn out by trying different attacks on them. Hit them with enough of their weaknesses and they become stunned for a moment, perfect for a strong attack! Octopath Traveler allows players to use these power moves, where each turn the player gains a point into the power meter. Than, they can power-up a single move up to four times it’s power! The cool thing about this buff is it can be applied to almost any move! Need to deal a finishing blow or maybe heal yourself from a destructive blow, POWER-UP ANY OF IT!
I played the original Octopath Traveler demo about a year ago, so I was looking forward to this games launch! Octopath Traveler is a rich game, packed full of content. As much as I enjoy a good art-style from time to time, Ocotpath Traveler is a REALLY GOOD JRPG! It’s simple but has lairs at the same time. There’s plenty to explore in this world too! Not to mention each character has their own story, so there’s basically EIGHT campaigns to playthrough in this game! Can you say value for dollar? I’ll keep y’all updated on Ocotpath Traveler, and hope to have a review up within the week! Now if you excuse me, I need to get back to playing Pokemon... Oh!!! Did I not mention that one of the heroes is a beast tamer and can capture different monsters to be used in battle?!?! ISN’T THAT AWESOME?!?!?

If Bravely Third avoids the fumbles made by Bravely Second and has a party that includes Ringabel and Edea, it will undoubtedly be the best game in that franchise.
