I made a poll on Instagram to ask about my next design and manta ray earrings won! So here you have them!
Manta rays always make me think about the vastness of the ocean. These are made in brass and shaped with the technique of fold forming. The ear wires are made in sterling silver.
I hope they live up to everyone's expectations! You can find them here!

I've never actually seen anyone do the punk part of seapunk so here's my vest.
Barnacles, sea shells, and (fossil) shark teeth instead of spikes.
(I am obsessed with putting barnacles on everything now)

This is just my interpretation so here goes:
"Punk" as a suffix is inherently about anti-establishment. Therefore:
Cyberpunk -> Mega-corporations control the media and hoard resources and anyone not consuming mindlessly is a threat
Desertpunk -> Water is hoarded by either petty warlords or mega-corporations and the hero is often someone fighting or existing outside the system. Mad Max comes to mind but Tank Girl also. Basically, any setting where drinking water is treated as crude oil and all the conflict that entails.
Oceanpunk -> Not quite the opposite of Desertpunk. Instead of arid deserts, it's vast swathes of ocean with little islands (floating or stationary). An authoritarian regime controls or wishes to control the waters and its inhabitants. Land can be a resource or ancient technology from the "old world" can drive the conflict. One Piece, Waterworld, Flapjack, any setting where boats are used frequently as transportation and the setting. I wanna see more submarines in this genre.
Scavengepunk -> The oil's been used up and global war has rendered progress & production stagnant. People scavenge junk to meet their needs but this junk is very much a finite resource. The regime either hoards what they scavenge or forbid the scavenging of certain goods, fearing it could upset the power balance. People who can actually manufacture or invent new tech might be persecuted cuz being able to build your own stuff instead of scavenging just disrupts the status quo. These types of stories usually have 1 of 2 MacGuffins: the main hero restarts some dangerous old-world tech or invents something powerful. Mortal Engines is technically scavengepunk and steampunk combined.

Psychopunk: Only Cancer is Immortal (2nd Update!)
Whoa, what a month! I wrote 14,279 words in about three and a half weeks! The leap year was nice, gave me an extra day to tinker with the art you see here!
I know, I know, I'm not exactly a professional digital artist, but I love to dabble (as a treat). Good news, though! My wife, who IS a professional digital artist, agreed to help out once a month with this kind of thing!
This month's section was a ton of fun to write. I'm really looking forward to seeing where the story goes, aren't you? Stick around!
Available for all supporters on my Patreon! Just $1 a month for some of the wildest sci-fi and poetry selections!

The Magical Races in the Sea of Gales (2/4): Selkies
The Selkies are perhaps the most mysterious of the magical people who live in the Sea of Gales. So mysterious and rare is a sighting, that it has been recorded incorrectly what animal they can turn into! Little do many know that not all of the narwhals can fly in the air and sing songs under the moonlight--only those who are Selkies, with their moonlit magic can do so. They keep to themselves, but there are a few legends surrounding them. They are great warriors, with the finest blades and weapons ever forged. There are also stories about them as loyal and loving spouses, who all return to the sea someday. Furthermore, one legend tells that the Selkies originate from the Emerald Isle, and that one of the many gods of the ocean, the Lady of Desolation, may have created the Selkies to give freedom to the inhabitants of the Emerald Isle who refused to submit to Thulian rule. If you should be so lucky to see a Selkie in human form, you will know them by the gray and white hair, like the moonlight and the narwhals whose shape they take.

I’m a little upset that the -punk suffix has, in a lot of cases, basically been redefined as “the setting of this genre has a specific technological level / aesthetic” instead of the original meaning from cyberpunk. That is, “this takes place in a dystopia enabled by the ruling class’ use of this technology, but the protagonists find ways to subvert that”.
Actually punk steampunk and such definitely exists, but if the story is just set in a world with that tech / aesthetic without any real punk themes, I feel there should be another term for that.
I had the thought that -technic could be used for tech-centric “-punk” aesthetics instead (ex. “clocktechnic”). I’m not sure what the equivalent would be for terms like desertpunk and oceanpunk, though.
(I’ve heard of “cyberprep” being used for “cyberpunk aesthetic but in a utopia / not a dystopia”, but… the -prep suffix just sounds silly, I’m sorry.)

BI THE WAY || CHAPTER THREE
(but still kinda chapter one...)
Tumblr media
[ the magician -pt ii: Submarine Staccato ]
In which our heroes find a clue to where their missing family could be.
Update [ 01 | 05 ] :
Hey all, so I've finally come out of my pandemic cave (and I've been doing so fine) and convinced myself to continue this project. I recently lost my creative footing due to the almost calamities that was 2020 and the rest of its offsprings. Thank you all that have been following thus far and are still genuinely interested in what I write.

The Magical Races in the Sea of Gales (1/4): Sirens
Perhaps the most well-known of the magical peoples who live among the Sea of Gales, the sirens are particularly intriguing for how, unlike others like the narwhals, they are bound to the tide and cannot ride the winds. But they prefer to dwell beneath the waves, in their underwater mansions of opulence, filled with treasures taken from those who they've sunk with their irresistible songs. The sirens are recognizable by their ocean eyes, long hair, and fins and tails that are brightly-colored and long-flowing like that of a koi fish. They can choose to take legs if they wish it--but only a deep love could propel a siren to do so.
