OH NO WAIT I FORGOT!!!!

I just remembered after the battle subway stuff, Eva and Wayne are sitting down, chilling, eating some snacks with their starters out. Wayne comments how he always kinda expected Eva to choose Snivy - not that he isn't happy with Snivy! Just that he wasn't expecting Tepig. ( He starts feeling like he said something offensive though -). Eva decides to be more vulnerable with him. Outside of Tepig honestly just calling out to her as a starter, she honestly just felt a little tired of going with what was expected of her. Battling is a form of self expression to her and thus, she for once wanted to go with her gut rather than do what suits her "image" ( no offense to Snivy).

Still, she laments on how she has always felt the pressure to be one faction of her whole self. Pre transition it was taking interest in more " masculine" hobbies, like her love for sports and science/ tech. Post transition it completely switched, people saying how pretty she was and how she shouldn't bother with things that would " get her dirty". Eventually, bc she did want to be taken seriously and liked, she leaned into that side of her heavily. She had to stop herself from rambling about robotics or appearing too strong bc she doesn't want to ruin that image of her. She doesn't want people to dislike her for what she truly is - something Wayne can relate to I bet. (Of course, it's not everyone - her dad and Hugh have given her the space to express herself fully, and not everyone is forcing this expectation on her. But as a kid, a few can feel like a lot.)

Wayne, in his typical sincerity, basically goes " Well that's silly, I like this Eva a lot,"

Wayne: Your kind, smart, strong... kinda mean sometimes.

Eva: Hey!

Wayne: I said kinda! But that's just what makes you Eva, yeah? I don't see how anyone can look at you, all of you, and not realize that they get the chance to have an amazing friend. Cause I know I'm lucky to be your friend, Eva! ......Eva?

Eva: ( tearing up)

Wayne: Oh! I'm sorry, I didn't mean to -

Eva: ( chuckles, wiping away a tear) You're always so earnest Wayne. ( Walks up to hug him) I'm lucky to be your friend too.....thank you.

Wayne: ( eyes widen a bit, but smiles, hugging back) Of course!

Annabella didn’t normally go into City Heights especially alone. Besides the fact that there wasn’t much of a need she also needed to be a bit realistic. She did happen to be the daughter of Bruce Wayne and City Heights wasn’t the safest part of Gotham.

But when you get a call on someone breeding pit bulls for underground fights a girl’s got to do what a girl’s got to do.

Loading up the truck with the puppies and their mothers weren’t easy. Especially since most of them didn’t (Understandably) trust humans. Annabella had to stay close helping her associates while letting the anxious dogs know that they were here to help them not hurt them.

But the stench of fear coming from these poor animals was rather overpowering and after a while, she needed a breather.

“I need some air,” she said nodding toward Ron who was trying to get a rather upset large stud into a crate while Olivia helped by trying to tempt the dog with treats.

“Ok, don’t go too far this part of the city isn’t that safe,” he grunted as the dog reared its head trying to back up into his larger frame.

Taking a few deep breaths Annabella sighed trying to push back the rush of emotions she was feeling. How could these people treat those poor dogs like that? It honestly made her want to bash someone’s head in.

A few more deep breaths and a few steps away from the building later she felt more like herself. The overpowering emotions of the poor abused pit bulls no longer flooding her system.

“You’re the one aren’t you”

She looked up at the sharp voice cutting through her thoughts. Four large men were stalking toward her, two guns, one crowbar, and one knife.

“You’re the one who thinks they can just come into our business.” the shortest of the men growled, “You spoiled rich kids think you can just come in here and take from us.”

“Those using those dogs to fight is NOT a business!” Annabella snapped getting ready for a fight. She wasn’t too far from her coworkers if she caught them off guard maybe she could…

A loud whistle pierced their eardrums causing the men to freeze before turning around. A large red brick flew through the air hitting one of the men with the guns scare in the face breaking his nose.

Of all the things Annabella had expected, and let’s be honest this is Gotham so she expected a lot of things, she did NOT expect her younger cousin to come running up landing a kick at the man furthest from Annabella. She was wearing a small mask that looked very similar to Tim’s but her bright yellow smiley face beanie gave away her away. That was as if Annabella couldn’t tell who her cousin was no matter what she wore.

“Shit!” one of them snapped “It’s the smiley face!”

The smiley face? Ok wait… was this normal?

With a trashcan lid in hand Faith swung it forward knocking knife guy backward where his head connected with the brick wall knocking himself out.

Short guy snarled pulling out his gun clicking off the safety. Faith darted forward spinning on her muddy vans the first shot missing her by a few inches.

He tried to aim again but she was upon him pushing his arm up the shot going into the air while she stomped on his foot and then pulled her knee forward hitting his groin. As he leaned forward in pain she headbutted him in the nose before sweeping her leg causing him to fall in a heap at her feet. His gun in her hand now.

Sending up 3 more shots into the sky Faith clicked the gun a few more times to make sure it was empty before tossing it aside.

“You don’t need to worry Zen!! I mean… Annabella… you… person… thing..” her voice petered off and Annabella couldn’t help but smile. There was her cousin.

“FUCK YOU!” Crowbar man screamed running forward. Glancing over her shoulder Faith smiled before dropping to her knees, back still to the man. Once he was upon her she snapped up her elbow connecting it with the man’s crotch. He let out a scream of pain buckling over as Faith kicked him in the chest so he was laying in pain next to his buddy.

The click of a gun and anger alerted Annabella before her cousin. Grabbing the younger girl she pulled her to the right as the other gunman shot at her missing by mear inches.

“Thanks!” Faith flashed Annabella a wide toothy grin before grabbing the crowbar laying on the ground rushing the broken-faced gunmen swinging and connecting with his shooting hand crashing bone as it connected.

Both girls stood there for a moment taking in what had just happened.

“Does dad know about this?” Annabella ventured trying to make some sense to why her cousin was in this neighborhood cracking skulls and not in a dance studio.

“W… why would he?

“Wait so why are you…”

Sirens blared in the distance and Faith turned toward the noise.

“That’s my queue…. You… Person I don’t know… stay safe”

Annabella tried to fight back a smile a million thoughts running through her mind. Was she the first or last to know about… all of this.

As her cousin disappeared into a dark alley something else washed over her.

Peace, purpose.

Annabella was no stranger to this life, her father was after all Batman, but if she remembered correctly Jen had a bit of a strong opinion about it herself. This is besides the fact that after everything that had happened with the older cousin, Bruce had seemed to have a strong opinion about keeping the younger sister out of this masked life.

Then again Faith had always had a will of her own, and after the death of her parents, she had felt a bit lost. Still that hyper smiling girl but slightly… broken. As if trying to find some sense in her life now that her parents were no longer in it. Annabella had sensed it the moment Faith and Jen had met up with their cousin after the funeral yet while Jennifer seemed to be distracting herself with her school and work Faith seemed to just be floating day to day.

Until today.

She was so clear and focused. So alive.

And from what it seemed she had found this focus all by herself.

--Later--

“So what’s going on with Faith?” Annabella asked walking into the cave. Her father and the latest Robin, Tim Drake looked up from the computer they were looking over as she entered. Annabella’s brother Dick was stretching on the mat a few feet.

“What?” Dick asked

“Well, I’m assuming dad knows she’s fighting bad guys in City Heights.”

“What? Why would you keep that from us?” Dick asked looking over at Bruce who’s poker face wasn’t… quite it’s normal blank slate.

“She’s, what?”

“I’m keeping an eye on her,” Tim muttered almost so softly it went unnoticed.

Almost.

“Oh, that’s where the mask came from.” Annabella crossed her arms fighting back a smile.

“She has a mask? Does Jen know? Shit, she’s going to kill someone…” Dick stood using a towel to wipe his face before reaching for his phone.

“How long has this been going on?” Bruce asked Tim already forming a plan in his head. One Annabella knew she was going to want to be involved in. After all, this was her cousin they were talking about who apparently was just running around unsupervised

“Maybe a month or so? She really just helps local businesses and stuff. She has been using a burner to call the local police and stuff too. I hacked it to make sure she wasn’t doing anything too crazy and she hasn’t.”

“So far” Dick muttered.

“Yeah,” Annabella said nodding, “No offense Tim but you don’t know Faith, safe isn't really a word I would use to describe her.”

“More like dive into anything head first” Dick muttered shooting off a text to the young girl in question’s older sister.

“I’ll handle this,” Bruce said putting on his cowl.

“I’m coming with you,” Annabella said running to grab her costume. Bruce looked like he was about to stop her but Annabella beat him to the argument. “She’s my cousin and I’m not arguing with you on this.”

“Ok.”

Normally Annabella didn’t go to City Heights.

But things in Annabella’s life were never very normal.

After seeing the episode of Tamara’s Never Seen on Big Trouble in Little China, I decided to watch the movie, as I haven’t seen it in almost twenty years. After hearing the name of the villain (Lo Pan) so many times, however, I got The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny stuck in my head... and I just had to see if I could write down the entire song’s lyrics from memory.

I had a bit of trouble remembering what happened immediately before the Care Bear Stare... but yeah, maybe a word choice or two aside, I think I just have this entire song stored in my brain. Which is surely true for tons of other Neil Cicierega songs. For some reason.

Ouuuuugh thinking about Wayne and Hugh. This newer version of Wayne most likely already moved to Aspertia Town for the past 1-2 years ( I think a year pre main story, as I think Clay helped them out for a year before they decided to move out), and him, Hugh and Eva where all really close. Wayne has not told them he used to be part of Team Plasma. So when that's revealed it's just like. Oh my god.

So Hugh is already angry at his Wayne for even being associated with team plasma in the past of itself. But there's also the hurt that Wayne knew Hugh for a year, that Hugh trusted Wayne to have his back like Eva, and Wayne didn't tell him. To be fair- that wouldn't have gone over well. But I think trust is a big part of Hugh's character, and if he places trust in someone that's him being vulnerable. In his eyes, Wayne took that trust and crushed it a thousand times over.

AND THEN WAYNE IS OVER HERE FEELING EVEN WORSE THAN HE DID BEFORE. He already hated himself for his past. He already felt like he couldn't be anything good. Hugh's hatred for Team Plasma already felt like Hugh hated him, but the direct antagonism towards Wayne himself just shattered him. Just. Ough.

This has to happen before Hugh starts to reconsider his stance on team plasma as a whole ( so pre driftviel) cause that's when the emotions would peak, I think. Maybe in Nimbasa City? I think there's a grunt encounter there.

Before I went to bed I was thinking of the fallout Wayne and Hugh had and what Eva would do during/ after that. I don't want her to just be regarded as the mediator so. I think she would scold Hugh. Say that Hugh is their friend and the probably had a good reason - though. Hm. I should think of Eva's opinions of team plasma in general actually hmmmm.

Anyway that thought process resulted in my thinking about Wayne again....and him maybe meeting Elliot? I dunno, I was thinking of him hiding in the battle subway for whatever reason, and Elliot finds him. Wayne recognizes Elliot as the hero girl that stormed the castle and Elliot is like. " Wait....Plasma" and poor Wayne is freaking out bc he thinks she's gonna hurt him. She isn't, but she does give him the chance to speak his truth. He was crying just now. So Wayne explains everything, and the more he talks the less cold Elliot becomes, even sitting down next to him as he explains his emotions. Eventually this explanation leads to self loathing, Wayne questioning why he bothered trying to be a hero when he's " just rotten the core"....which makes Elliot laugh. Not bc she's being mean but bc from her perceptive, half of the shit he's worried about wouldn't be a worry for him if he was " rotten to the core". He has heart, and is clearly trying to do good in the world. She also recognize that he was just a kid, like she was. He....they can't blame themself for things out of their control. They're simply trying their best. ( <- wise advice that she may or may not apply to herself in the future)

Anyway, I think after that pep talk she actually suggests Wayne does the battle train...and that's when Eva shows up, hug tackling Wayne and gently scolding him for running off and making her worried sick. And then she notices Elliot there and kinda fan girls a bit ( I dunno if that'll stay but I thought it was cute). Seeing that there's two of them are there now, she suggests the double train ( Wayne asks if Elliot will be battling against them and Elliot goes " HA! No. I'm way too strong for you rookies" which I think sparks a lil challenge in Eva).

And now we go back to Eva and Wayne! Cause I think this whole train car trip pretty much strengthened their bond together. Eva even points out that Wayne is an incredible battler, far more than he gives himself credit for. I think as things continue, they really start to realize how in sync they are with each other, hyping each other up, covering each other's backs....their friendship and bonds grows tighter!!! They were having so much fun that they didn't even realize they actually reached the subway bosses hgvhvgvgvcg. Do they win?.....No lol. I think it would be funny if they actually lost BUT it didn't hurt. If anything they left the train smiling and giggling like crazy! They're pokemon, who were healed up a bit, were just as gitty. I think this is probably the first time Wayne really battled so seriously? They weren't against plasma grunts. I'm still not sure if Wayne is taking the gym challenge like Eva and Hugh, though I feel like he has the capacity for it. Just not sure if he goes for it right now. Overall, it made Wayne actually warm up to pokemon battling a lot!!! He felt so connected to Eva and his pokemon! Maaaaaybe he tries the league post game, who knows.

Anyway,I didn't think of how it ended bc I'm pretty sure I went to bed lol. But it was really sweet though! I had the urge to post about it earlier, bc God, it made me love Eva and Wayne's friendship.

Veeerrrrrry early on, when I first created Wayne, he was a red head white boy I think. The point of his character was to look a certain way but actually being another - which was that he's a lot smarter than he looks, and could rival Eva when it came to tech and science.

While I don't think current Wayne is as proficient in science like Eva is, I do think as time goes one he's genuinely able to both understand and have a conversation about deep science and technology stuff. At least where he isn't constantly confused at the words being thrown at him. He isn't like Eva, he's not an engineer or a scientist. I just think he'll be able to understand whatever the fuck Eva says when she starts yapping ( I think his love for sci-fi contributes to this).

I have another oc that has the O'Neal surname expect it's spelled O'Neil. Eva has an "O" Surname, which usually would bother be but it's also kinda cute???? Alexis n Elliot both have J surnames on the account of being siblings, maybe Eva and Wayne can follow a similar pattern.

Nelson sounds really good with Wayne, but imposter syndrome is a bitch - I'd feel like I'd be copying someone else ( who has a similar surname for their protag.) Buuuut if I push that aside, it does sound good.

Genuinely can't decide here hgvhvgvgvcg.

Teagan O’Neal & Nico Wayne in Treacherous

Coming from the richest families in Gotham had perks, and Teagan O’Neal knew it well; after all, that was why she and her best friend Nico had always been untouchable by the law.  Growing up it was all about petty theft, vandalism, and underage drinking, but as they got older, things changed.  Following in his family’s footsteps, Nico took on a life of vigilantism, while Teagan, following a legacy that no one else knew about, went darker.  Their difference in morals had never been a problem in their relationship, even after they started living together.  After all, they respected each other’s boundaries and never crossed paths in the shadowy Gotham underworld.  At least, not before Nico’s former brother, Dick Grayson, showed up, asking for Nico’s help to track down Dinoaea, the Venus Flytrap, Teagan herself.
