Vib Ribbon inspired oc! I based her off of the song Laugh and Peace from the Vib Ribbon soundtrack. They uses she/they pronouns. They're the same species as Rhythmy, although her eye looks mildly spooky. However, she's really sweet! They'll be the mom friend in the group. Also have some headcanons of Rhythmy species and some lore under the cut:

- Unlike my version of both the Nanobot (PA) and hero shapes (JSAB), they aren't very tiny in their humanoid forms. They normally are 4 to 5 feet in height, and has a wingspan of 10 feet or more (their wings can get larger if they needed to, like Trico), so someone can't pick them up easily in their humanoid forms.

- likewise, in their shape form, they're somewhat small, around 20 to 40 centimetres. So they're bigger than nanobots and hero shapes if they're also in their shape form.

- All of them has a bird like tail that always has a border around it, that's also visible in their shape form. This acts like a shield and also as a health indicator; the closer they are to shattering, the less of the borders on the tail there are.

- Some of them, like Rhythmy, has arms, although most of them don't, for some reason.

- All of them (maybe I can call them Rhymixs?) have their own unique song. They're mostly EDM or rock songs, but other genres can be found.

- They live alongside another species of shapes: called Melodies; which don't have wings nor the distinctive tail. They are also usually taller and are more human like. Melodies also has rhythms, altho it's not as important to them.

- They make chirps that sounds like electronic instruments, but this depends on their rhythm; if one has a rhythm that's chiptune, then they sounds like a gameboy, and if another's rhythm is an artcore song, then that individual will usually sound like a mix between an string instrument and an electronic instrument.

- A rhymix's rhythm is extremely important to them, it's basically their lifeblood. If their rhythm stops or becomes muted, the rhymix would die or would be extremely weak.

- Rhythms are basically the "songs" that are both a rhymixs and melodies' lifeblood. It is how they are alive and is also why they can both survive without food and water (although Melodies can't survive without food or water at all). Some rhymixs/ Melodies can "hear" other's rhythms.

I was dusting off and redesigning an old ranger OC, and I remembered this old headcanon that rangers on breaks and in casual wear will still keep their capture stylers hidden on their person somewhere or even fully equipped on their arms/wrists, because you can never be too prepared. Then I had this silly image of Keith, Kellyn, Kate, Rhythmi and Isaac relaxing at a cafe when some idiot tries to rob a nearby store and they're all slowly looking at each other like "Are you f***ing kidding me?" XD

that's when they mind their own business and just let the ranger intern do it for them LMFAO im joking i loooove seeing heroes/hero archetype characters in civvies but still have their gear to fight crime its such a hot concept... man now i want to draw casual outfits of them... that would be so cute

So like. Some of y'all may know my oc Rhythmi, right? Well I'm usually obsessed with her but ever since Hizashi became my f/o I haven't been thinking about her all that much so like.

Apparently there's some musician character shaped void in my heart that needs to be filled, is what my theory is

okie here’s what i’m working with, using the game as a character base for now (pokemon more hairstyles blease)

bonus rhythmi is first, i just wanted to make her in-game. rika ship. the main character of my current pokefic wip, tcom. kalosian daughter of saguaro, history dork, has trauma. should have dark hair but pkmn doesn’t have a coloured-tips option. mid-height of the trio (5’2”). partner pokemon is fairy-tera skitty.

cilla is the perrin ship. she’s a big fan of ghost types. her fav teacher is raifort. doesn’t necessarily care for all history but loves ancient pokemon lore and mysteries. also loves scary stories, both reading them and writing them. hair should be super long but pkmn hates me and won’t do more than one long hairstyle. the tallest of the three (5’8”). partner pokemon is dark-tera sableye.

nea (short for linnea) is the drayton ship. her team is all food themed. she has albinism and overprotective parents. if she had to pick a fav teacher it’d probably be hassel but she’s planning on transferring to blueberry anyway. likes art but only ever does scenery work, loathes doing character studies and if she does draw you, it’s a huge sign of her liking you. shortest of the three (4’11”). partner pokemon is fairy-tera fidough/dachsbun.

PREVIEW:

Nemona's head jerks towards her. As do many of the students' in the class. The ones who don't look at her turn to each other to whisper. She'd been expecting this from them. Their great - obviously loved - teacher had some mysterious daughter and here she was standing in their classroom! Her shoulders tense under their curious dagger gazes. She can feel it in the air, how much they want to scream questions out at her. 

She imagines she won't be able to walk the halls in peace anymore the second this gets out. Hell, she'd bet every pokédollar in her purse right now that someone had sent out a text and it was already being spread around the school. 

Rhythmi and Saguaro both know it would be inappropriate to hug in front of the class and both are too tightly wound right now anyway. Her father straightens up, forces his gaze away from his daughter and back to his students. 

"Well class, I suppose you'll understand that we'll be cutting class short today. Remember what I've taught you. Perhaps try out experimenting with your sandwich ingredients as homework," he says. If there was the slightest tremor in his voice, no student would be bold enough to bring it up. 

They all gather their books and bags with a swiftness and rush passed Nemona and Rhythmi out the door. Rhythmi doesn't meet any of their gazes. Instead, she turns to stand and stare at her father's class kitchenette. There's a set up of toppings for crepes, obviously where he'd been cooking for his students. She only felt half bad for interrupting. As the last of the students are leaving, Rhythmi glances sideways at Nemona, whose still staring surprised. 

"You've been real helpful, Nemona, but I think I can manage from here," she says simply. Nemona just nods slowly, then nods again quicker, understanding. 

"Right, well, I'll see you in class tomorrow," she replies, then turns to nudge some straggling students out of the classroom and close the door behind them.

Walking on either side of the pokémon, Rhythmi and Nemona lead it up the path to the building. As they get close, a door to the side of the main one opens as a teenage boy steps out. He's got a book in hand that he quickly shoves in his bag before Rhythmi can see anything more than the red colour of the cover. His face suddenly grows angry.

"Koraidon! What are you doing out here? And what's with this form?" He snaps, glowering. The pokémon - Koraidon - seems unbothered by this tone, just stretching its head out, yawning.

"Hey, you're Professor Sada's kid! Arven, right? Enrolled in the humanities track?" Nemona pipes up. Rhythmi just stares between them. Arven seems to get even more upset at the mention of his apparent parent. 

"It doesn't matter who my mom is," he snaps back. Then he turns his gaze on Rhythmi, whose hand is still resting on Koraidon's side. Nemona scrunches her nose up at his tone, but doesn't get to say anything before he's continuing. "Do you know why Koraidon's in this form?"

"It was at the bottom of the cliff," Rhythmi starts, brows pulled together at the guy's snippiness, "It got me out of a tight spot with some houndour and a houndoom in the cave back there. But afterwards, it kinda ... shrank. It was bigger before."

Arven frowns, chin in hand: "That's the form Koraidon takes in battle - its true form."

rhyth changes out of her school uniform the second she is able to after starting the treasure hunt/getting to leave the school grounds and explore paldea. she keeps her orange school tie to wrap around her wrist or through a belt loop or around her bag strap to show that she’s a naranja student out on her treasure hunt. i imagine she wears a jacket over this or a long sleeved undershirt to hide the mawile scars on her forearm.

ooh, i don't know for rhythmi, but i did have a brief idea for a different oc for a dpp/la crossover fic that would fit the arceus shenanigans (for the angst of it all). rhyth is from kalos tho and you know who's hanging around there? space-warping alternate-dimension-hopping hoopa. if i could get back to writing tcom, a post-fic spin-off with hoopa could be fun.
