Happy Pride; Eldarion (Charlie) Edition

"A rare interview with Eldarion, the person behind Charlie. It’s refreshing to not be talking about my work, and Pride month is dear to me.

It’s easy to get distracted by the myths people still believe about trans and non-binary people. And yes, people still get wound up over what you have in your pants and boil a whole person’s being, heart, soul into what genitals they have! It’s so dehumanising to not be seen as the whole person, or to be told that I'm somehow wrong or unable to know what gender I am. People can get so weird about when I have hair on my body or have a hint of stubble. Or my voice! They seem to expect this perfect figure of androgyny when they hear I'm non-binary.

It’s the same when people see me and my partner, Valerian. People think as we’re both pansexual we’re going to end up cheating on each other. Worse is that people think that my sexuality is just because of my work. No, it’s because my love has no limits. And I love Valerian. My gorgeous lionheart.

Pride remains to show that we’re more than that. We are the colour, the love, beauty and limitless creativity in all people. And we need that so much in this city."

This one was actually difficult to write as El has many of the same problems as I do as a non-binary person who looks more like the gender people assumed us to be when we were born. In a way, that's why I made them that way. To remind people that there is no one way to be non-binary and that you "can't tell."

"Oh I have like a peice of everyone's clothes." Said (Y/n), after Charlie went though their room and closet looking for her coat since the rest of them was dirty.

"Did you steal them?" Asked Vaggie, holding a pair of sweatpants that were not (Y/n)'s.

"No, you let me borrow it and it just never leaves my room again unless it's asked about." They said.

"Why?" Asked Charlie about to put her coat on. "Is this clean?"

"It's clean I do the laundry for my borrowed clothes so Niffty dont give it back and uh..." said (Y/n) getting a bit flustered. "I had a slight habit while I was alive of 'borrowing' clothes of people I was close with, usually friends or family."

Vaggie and Charlie both look at each other either internally or externally awe-ing at (Y/n).

"Awwee, you care about us!" Said Charlie, hugging (Y/n) who froze because of it.

"Yep." Was all they said while patting Charlie on the back. "Okay well, you have your coat now so please leave so I can put everything back where it was."

"It was a mess when we came in." Said Vaggie.

"I have a system and now I don't know where anything is at." Said (Y/n), already picking things back up and putting it where they sat it down to begin with. "It's organized chaos, just don't let Niffty see."

"See what?" Said Niffty appearing at the doorway and looked at (Y/n)'s room. "Oh, I'll clean this." She said before pushing the three out of the room and shutting the door. (Y/n) quickly started banging on the door after trying to open it.

"Niffty, It's fine! Let me clean it!" They said before hearing muffled, Niffty saying that their room needed a woman touch. "No it doesn't!" They said before sighing and looking at Charlie and Vaggie. "Well, she wouldn't let me in until she's done so I guess I'll just go back to my territory."

"You're in pajamas." Said Charlie, pointing out (Y/n)'s outfit and (Y/n) looked down to see their pj's are still on.

"Well I woke up with you knocking on my door for clothes early this morning." Said (Y/n). "So unless you have clothes I can wear, I'm about to ask Angel Dust for at least some pants."

"We probably have a shirt your size." Said Vaggie before leading (Y/n) to her room.

"Oh I have the perfect shirt! What do you think about rainbows and glitter?!" Charlie said, following along.

"Oh boy."

"What are you even wearing?" Asked (Y/n) Secretary, Twi, seeing (Y/n)'s outfit that consists of a sparkly rainbow shirt (Charlie) and hot pink colored pant (Angel Dust).

i'm gonna make an actual papa louie oc that isn't JUST me (but obviously i'm still gonna project onto them) tomorrow but i'm not gonna make a separate ask/roleplay blog for them because i'm notoriously horrible at keeping up with those (especially if they somehow get popular) but you can still send them asks once i make them but they have to be to this blog + be addressed to 🐦‍🔥🍗 (because he really likes his spicy chicken wings)

Any other cool little bits from your coversation with Charlie? It is so awesome you got to meet all the guys!!!

There was so much stuff and I’m not sure how much I have shared/a lot is jumbled now bc it was a long day, drinking, and a loud bar, lol, but a few things:

Charlie was bragging to the guys next to us at the bar that Sunny is the wordiest show on television :,)

A woman demanded Charlie make her a cocktail, she returned it and made him fix it, he did, and then he said, “they don’t even let me bartend on the fictional show!” Which killed me.

He reiterated to us that they wanted to go with ‘my idea’ (😭) of Mac and Dennis still having inflatable furniture

This convo is kinda fuzzy but I remember he said they write episodes with the intent of surprising the audience, and if they get into the writers room and they find they’re just repeating something or not saying anything new, they either won’t move forward or they’ll go look for a way to catch the audience off guard (S16 has A LOT of this, which is I think what he was talking about)

My friend told him we miss when they used to do legit promotional stuff and photos, and he said he doesn’t really see (not involved in) what they do with that and merch nowadays

Again, he took so much time to talk to us and really truly just talked to us like we were kind of on the same level. I can’t stop thinking about how little opportunity he probably gets to do that with Sunny outside of the creative team. And it seems like he and Glenn did talk a lot/their minds were really on Season 17 this past weekend :)

(Also, I overheard a guy ask Glenn about S17 ‘this year’ and he told him due to the Writers Strikes pushing their schedules back, they wouldn’t be getting out a new season until next year. We knew this based on other things being said, but wanted to reiterate!)

It’s very cool I’ve met them all now and what’s like... Idk more insane?.. is that I appreciate them all even more now. They’re all just very real people, that are creating something they love and care about, and are genuinely excited and happy to get to talk about it whenever they can. Idk, I feel like we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I hope they do more stuff in other states so more people can get to meet them and share their love for the show too! They love talking about their little show!!

woo charlie!:

ok uh charlie (real name charles but he likes charlie more). hes 15 (and we meet him on his birthday!) and goes by he/him. hes an amateur ghost helper who was raised by normal people without the blessing of the goddess of death, and people thought he was crazy for a while before he met others with the gift. oh and also hes mostly self taught, but hes not bad at his missions

charlies a bit naive, but he knows when its time to cut contact with someone. hes the type of person to see the good in everyone, in fact he may be a bit too optimistic. its ok! he knows when someone/thing is a lost cause and acknowledges when it is. he also has abandonment issues. he expects everyone to just squeeze out what they want from him and then leave him to fend for himself :(

backstory: charlie was raised a normal but imaginative boy. all of his imaginary friends were actually just ghosts though, and so he never stopped seeing them. since he continued seeing them well into middle school, they kinda. put him in a psych ward bcs they thought he was seeing things. he got out, once he stopped outwardly showing that he could see ghosts. his parents were still convinced he was crazy though, so they abandoned him. he then got picked up by people who taught him the basics of ghost helping, but then tossed him when he didnt fit in with the rest of the group. he finally meets damian and liam on his 15th birthday, and they take him in as like a son.

relationship:

damian: thats his dad. taught him most of what he knows. really cool dad. he has like 3 whole leather jackets. its awesome!!! charlie follows him around like a duckling to its mama, learning everything he can from him

liam: dad #2. really fun dad. he totally thinks liam and damian are alr dating with how liam acts when with him. he teaches liam how to interact with modern day things and liam teaches him how things worked back in the day/how they work to teleporters

gods: he doesnt really know much about them, but hes glad that ms death let him help the people stuck on earth!
